As someone who worked here for over a year I dont recommend taking your pets here. When I started bringing up concerns about the well being of the dogs boarding there I was fired the next day. In my opinion they care about money not the animals. So many other great vets in the area, dont waste your time or money here.
Took our cat here for a quick nail trim before the holidays. Was not told when making the appointment that they wouldnt trim nails without proof of a rabies shot. Didnt have that paperwork with me, of course. They had this whole big form to fill out, which included asking for a drivers license number. Why? And dont I have the right to refuse to give out such information to a local veterinary clinic? The vet said, no, I dont, snatched the clipboard out of my hand, and in no uncertain terms told me to leave. DO NOT EVER GO TO THIS OFFICE. Based on the other 1-star reviews Ive read of this place, this woman should be stripped of her license to work with animals!!!
I can’t say enough good things about this place! The staff are always friendly and take the time to listen to my concerns. I think they love animals even more than I do and I didn’t know anyone could…They provide me with solutions that work in real life and even let me bring my cat in for weigh-ins if I need too. My neighbor also uses them and I’m pretty sure her dog wouldn’t be alive today without them. Thanks for all you do!
I take all 3 of my dogs here for boarding and the vet and they are always great! I recommend adding the walks for the dogs when boarding. They noticed that one of the boys should get looked at, called and we set that up and was able to start his medication early! Always appreciate how they care for my littles
Absolutely horrible and grotesque experience. Would definitely NOT bring your animal here. Especially if they are elderly. My friends cat was brought here for a haircut because of some matted hair- made fully aware of the cats medical history/age etc- And ended up needing to be put down because of god even knows what.AS THEY ARE PUTTING DOWN MY FRIENDS CHILDHOOD CAT, they come in and ask for payment. If that isn’t enough to detour you from going to this establishment , nothing will.Rest in peace Bubba
The entire staff was wonderful...friendly, helpful, informative. We felt very comfortable entrusting our fur babies with Countryside and Dr. Wagner. Thank you for taking such great care of Duncan & Daisy!!!
Unkind, uncaring and impatient. I took my beloved dogs here when we moved to Dryden from Syracuse. Unfortunately it was also right at the beginning of the pandemic. I excused their detached demeanor as a byproduct of not being able to meet in person (they came to the car to get the dogs), but their distanced practices continued for over two years- far longer than other local vets. The techs who came to the car to get the dogs were unsmiling, unfriendly and did not seem to genuinely like animals. On one occasion my dog was returned to me shaking and with his backside covered in feces- NOT how I handed him over to the tech.I understand that vets need to make a living too, but their system of 1. Take your dog 2. Take your payment 3. Return your dog 4. Speak to the vet makes it clear that the focus is on the money, not the animal.I couldnt shake my feelings that my dogs werent being well cared for so I asked for my records so I could take them back to my vet in my previous city. The comments on their records were heartbreaking- two of my dogs were muzzled without me knowing while being treated, and my anxious dog was labeled as having fear aggression and territorial aggression. He is not an angel by any means, but he has severe anxiety. Never in his 7 years has he had to be muzzled before. They were so harsh with him that the notes said that he alligator rolled when they tried to take the muzzle off. He was terrified of them.My trip with all three of my dogs today to the Lafayette Veterinary Clinic was a wonderful experience for me and my dogs. No muzzles, no fear, just kind and caring veterinary practices- the way it should be.
Great place to take your fur kids.Very clean & compassionate
Awesome staff. Took good care of our pup even though she can get a little crazy. They were all very friendly and recommend them to anyone in need of a vet.
If I could give 0 stars I would. I had a terrible day with worry about my 10 month corgi mix pup who wouldn’t walk or stand on her hind legs. I called at 9:42am to try to get her in because I have my senior dog seen at this vet and that got our foot in the door, they had a cancelation and threw us in for 1:45pm. I had a doctors appointment in Marathon and rushed home to Berkshire to get my pup, only to rush to Dryden and was running a couple minutes behind. I do not have service enough to make a phone call between Berkshire and Harford (thanks Verizon) and l called AS SOON as I had service, 1:50pm, and I was 3 minutes out and explained I was at an appointment and rushed and I’d be right there. The receptionist, Stacy(I believe her name was) put me on hold and said I’d have to make another appointment because I was too late to be seen. I was obviously upset and as a receptionist at a VETS OFFICE you’d think she would be understanding, but instead, completely changed her attitude to rude and entitled. After I explained I had been at an important doctors visit in Marathon and I had to run home to get her, I asked if she could make an exception for my PUPPY WHO WASN’T WALKING, and she got ruder, told me to go to colonial or Cornell, and continuously interrupted me when I was simply asking to be put on a cancelation list, then ended the call with “you’re being extremely rude I’m done with this phone call” and hung up on me.I WILL NEVER STEP FOOT IN THIS OFFICE AGAIN!
Bad business: behavior of a girl scout or premeditated actions?Over a six months period my dog was misdiagnosed (nothing to worry assertion) several times at $100 per visit until a costly surgery became necessary. I was quoted a price for the surgery, but after the surgery I was charged 50% more and charged extra for post-surgery visits. It should be noted that Dr. Wagner have NOT seen my dog after the surgery and her instructions to personnel on removal of drainage and stiches were based on a PHOTOGRAPH sent via e-mail. Having several dogs, I was a grateful customer at this office for over a 25 year period. The office had excellent reputation and the previous owner would never allow this to happen. The new owner is clearly greedy and heartless. Will find a new vet for my dogs. Want to share my experience with other potential customers
These ladies are fantastic here. I just moved here and my rescue pit Bailey was abused. She’s my baby and she’s pampered. I would never board her but I had to take a flight. She’s a very submissive and nervous(but super sweet) dog. I call to check in on her twice a day. ( I also cry everyday I don’t have her). I can tell by the info they report on her that they care and pay attention. On top of that they noticed she needed updated vaccines I wasn’t aware of and Did them while she’s staying there. I’ve worked at kennels before and they are 3x cheaper than most. They made this neurotic dog dad feel at ease while I’m away from her. Ty ladies for taking care of my little girl.
Although we felt Countryside Veterinary Hospital & Kennels did a good job watching our exotic pet, we were charged more than we were initially told we would be charged. We were priced $13 a day for boarding when we reserved our spot several months before our trip. We were not informed that the price increased to $16 a day between the time we called and boarded our pet. We thought it was unprofessional that we weren’t immediately informed of this significant increase in price. When we asked why we weren’t informed, we were told that they couldn’t keep track of who they had quoted before the price change, although they clearly have records of who scheduled their pet to come in. We ended up spending about $100 more than we anticipated, a tough break for a college student. The cherry on top was when we were given our pet’s temperature monitor, we found that it was no longer working when we returned home. We won’t be returning and have told our friends with pets to be wary of this place.
Very nice Dr and staff. Our dog enjoys going to the Vet. A very pleasant experience each time.
First impressions are everything they say and this was no exception. I asked if I could come in with my dog because he was new there and I wanted to make sure he was comfortable. I was questioned about proof of my vaccine which I unfortunately didnt have. So I was rudely told I could not come in with my dog as she attempted to take his leash I noticed his tail between his legs n he was very uncomfortable to go with this lady. I again asked to just step inside the door so he knows Im there and he is safe, lady let me in but very quickly told me if I dont like the policy theres the door! And took his leash angrily. If youre treating me this way, how can I trust you with my dog who has no voice? No thanks.
My sweet boy needed his spleen removed and Dr Wagner did it right away! (same day as his ultrasound) He is doing fantastic and just had his stitches removed. Ive been going to Countryside sine 2005, they know me and my critters well..... highly recommend!!!
Ive been bringing my dog Parker here for years now (very happy to say that) thanks to a recommendation by my colleague. Between last minute trips or the occasional long-term research trip abroad (prior to COVID-19) I use Countryside for their kennel services and never experienced a bad experience. The staff are absolutely wonderful and accommodating, and are truly unmatched. The trip from Ithaca is worth it!
If i could rate higher than a 5 star I would because this facility is always patient and understanding. The level of care given to my Yodi is wonderful! The doctor and staff always have a smile when we go in amd they are extremely knowledgeable and helpful. My dog doesnt seem to want to leave when she goes in for a checkup. Other places are too expensive and dont give the level of care that Countryside Vet gives. Were extremely satisfied on all accounts and this is our family vet since 2019.
I have enjoyed my experiences bringing our 3 dogs there over the last 4 years. The staff is friendly, Dr. Wagner appears competent, and the prices are reasonable. They also offer kenneling services at a reasonable price.
I would not recommend countryside anymore. The staff can be rude when you ask them questions about your dog and dont care about your animal. They knew my dog had a UTI and never prescribed her any antibiotic. Theyre a waste of money. Im glad I got a second opinion from other people.
You can expect to be treated well with fair prices for their services. Dr. Wagner is a very kind and friendly person. She takes excellent care of our dogs, as well as makes my wife and I feel comfortable and informed at every visit. 5 stars to Dr. Wagner and her staff. Matt and Tina C.
I had an appointment scheduled for my cat to get surgery and was instructed to drop her off between 8-9 on 3/26. When I arrived the doors were locked, I saw someone inside and knocked she very rudely told me they were closed. I explained I had received instructions to drop her off at this time and she said we don’t do surgery on Saturday’s. I showed her the email pictures and she simply shrugged and said I don’t know what to tell you. Horrible customer service we will be switching providers now.
BEYOND DONE. Our family pet who is seen at this vet started having blood in her stool about 3 weeks ago. We called for an appointment (was none) and the only advice they gave us was to feed her rice and chicken for a week. We did what they said and things only continued to get worse. We called back and they let us know there was no way for them to see her for an appointment or last minute and that we’d have to take her to emergency care. We took her to Colonial, drained our savings and needless to say she was put to sleep the night before last and had lymphoma. Our family is so hurt, and the neglect from this place affected our pet on so many different levels. Just wondering if her blood test and stool samples were ever taken, bc HOW
Cheap kennel rates, but our dog got an eye injury the last time we used them and they made absolutely no mention to us of any concern when we picked her up; took 2 appointments (one for med, then a second for minor surgical procedure) with our own vet to fix the problem. I would expect more from a vet service kennel.
I have two puppies now 8 months old.sister and brother Border jacks Odin and Fiona. The staff at countryside has been wonderful with them. When we get to the vet my dogs cant wait to go inside! Thank you 😊
No instructions given after pets have procedures. They prescribed pain med for my cat and never put any information on the bottle. If a child accidentally got into the med, theres no way to know what to tell poison control. It cost well over $400 to neuter my dog and non dissolvable sutures were used, necessitating a follow up visit. The only reason I gave them 2 stars instead of 1, was because they were somewhat sympathetic when my cat needed to be euthanized.
The one receptionist is very rude. Never gave the vet a note to call me. After the 3rd time calling, the vet still wouldnt talk to me. I thanked the receptionist for her help and she slammed the phone down in my ear.
Quoted my daughter wrong price to put our dog down. Listened to my daughter call me and ask if she could fix check and initial. Price quoted was 75. Actual price 175.44. Daughter fixed checked they then told her after knowing she was calling me for permission to do it they couldnt take the check because the bank wouldnt accept it. When I called and explained that I was on my way home and could drop new check off in drop box was told they closed at 5 and had to have check to do. I explained it was their error and I could not believe they wouldnt do anything to fix it. Even explained the dog is mothers dog who is dying from cancer and dog is getting nasty when people try to care for my mom and the dog is over 13 yrs old and it is my mothers wish the dog be put down. They then told my daughter they couldnt do it and she would need to go elsewhere because I would no longer be accepted as a client. What happened to customer service...it was 100.00 mistake on the bill and they did nothing to help make it right. Im good not.being accepted as a client because this is the 2nd bad experiance at this facility.
Excellent place. I called my dogs normal vet and they turned us away.. I called countryside, and less than an hour later my English Bulldog was being seen. I cant speak highly enough of this place. I will be changing vets to Countryside. Thank you very much, and Tank thanks you as well. 🐕
Unfortunately our dog was very sick over the weekend sick enough she needed to be put down. We called this vet our vet and they didn’t have anyone on call nor any directions as to who else we could call to receive assistance on their voicemail. Extremely unprofessional in my opinion as someone who is there to help animals but does not make arrangements or have arrangements for those families with pets that are suffering on the weekend.
We have always taken our pets to them and they have been wonderful, until this morning. Our dog Kimo has been seeing dr. Jacobsen for years, last night and this morning our dog was having seizures and vomiting stomach bile as well as experiencing disorientation and erratic breathing. We stayed up with our poor dog the entire night and called the office as soon as they opened this morning and dr. Jacobsen wont see him until tomorrow afternoon, despite it being an emergency. We tried pleasing with the receptionists and they flat out refused. This is the last time we will ever go here again.
They are so friendly and polite here. They have always done well for my cats. Todays bill was not nearly as bad as I expected too which was of much relief to me.
Staff was courteous, doctor was thorough and kind. I felt that my dog was well taken care of here.
We always feel comfortable bringing our dog there for boarding and her vet appointments. The staff is friendly and efficient!
Last Friday they were able to see my precious Baby Girl on an emergency visit(her vet out of town)it was determined she had cancer and as hard as it was, I let them end her suffering..they explained everything I needed and wanted to know..i have Baby Girls daughter and I plan on making arrangements to use this vet instead of the other one which I feel dropped the ball with Babys treatment the Monday before..thank you for your compassion you showed
This is the best place Ive found for dog boarding. I love my dog but most boarding places are outrageously priced. They are knowledgeable and there are many boarding options at one place. Yes!
I went to get rabbies vaccination for my dog, and it was a quick and non expensive service. I liked the environment.
Only place that complains that dont bring your dog in for a regular check up but never calls you when do make a appointment and it canceled and was here a week ago to pick up flea meds for dog and do have are number to
Very nice I will bring my dog backThey are very nice people there I would recommend all my friends and anybody else to take their pet there very reasonable
We took our daughters cat there and my wife was so impressed that shes contemplating taking our other 4 animals there
Very friendly vet. Felt comfortable and good care for the pup
Very unprofessional with no empathy at all! Receptionist should be ashamed of herself.
All the staff are realy nice, knowledgeable, and helpfull. The cost for check ups and shots are very reasonable. 🙄
Over priced and I dont recommend these people to anyone if you find another vet they will call the SPCA on you for animal cruelty, and the folks that have used them only needed one thing for there pet and then the vet pulls half there teeth and much more then you want and a huge bill in the end
Dogs in kennels. 1 dog had issues. Called me ASAP. Treated for issue. Thanks so much for the care.
Wonderful vet! Very reasonable prices. Also offers boarding.
I prepped the floor for a business partner to lay tile, looking forward to coating the kennels with a chemical resistant epoxy!
Great for boarding my dogs. I feel safe leaving them here and the price is right.
Friendly and knowledgeable. Dr. Wagner always has time to answer my questions.
Always very accommodating to our dog. She loves it there.
Very nice and knowledgeable kids were comfortable with them covid safety followed
Great Dr. & staff, very personable. Trust whole heartedly! Kudos !!!
This IS Puppy Camp! Samantha, our 7 yr old yellow lab loves this place!
Keep on doing what you do best, taking care of my pets even when the hardest decisions have to be made.
My dog was able to be seen right away and problem was resolved quickly with treatment.
I took my dog there for an appointment a few weeks ago, and was left with such a bad taste in my mouth. We have been going there since my dog was a baby (about a year now), and while I havent been super impressed, it has been fine enough. After we left from the last visit, however, I have switched vets. My dog has behavior problems, and I dont dispute that. I have been working really hard with him and am working with a trainer and a behavioral vet. I brought in my dog with a muzzle. When we got there, they acted like he was a monster. The vet asked him if I gave him a tranquilizer, when she never requested that I do so or prescribed one. They had me put a second muzzle on him and the vet then said I dont know how this is going to go.They took him back and did what they needed. When they brought him back out, they gave him to me like he had cooties. There was no report on how he did until I asked. Then the vet said, he did much better without you there. That was it. I did not get the feeling at all like they cared about my dog.The less than 10 minute visit cost over $300. Just for a blood test, a urine test, and a stool test. When the results of his testing came in, the tech called, not the vet. There was no follow up.I would not at all recommend this vet, especially if your pet has special needs. I am happy to be done with that veterinary practice!
Dr. Wagner was so thorough and listened to every concern I had re my dog’s behavior. She did an overall heck and found something another vet had missed that was crucial to Gladdy’s physical health. She is already improving as I am able to train her more easily, due to the help of these kind and professional people.
They took great care of my fur baby!!
They are really good vet and the staff is amazing
Very Very good!!!Top Notch Vet.
We are very appreciative of countryside vets good care of our dog, koda. We have been very pleased with the excellent veterinarian care we receive from Dr. Wagner. The front office staff is always pleasant and helpful. We also have used their dog kennel services while on vacation. He has always been treated well while in their care. Highly recommend.
Very friendly and kind staff. Dr. Wagner does a great job of explaining things without talking down to you like most doctors. She took care of our old dog very well. Recommend them highly.
The people that work here are incredibly nice AND knowledgable
They are very welcoming an friendly. They make you feel as though your pets are family members an understand there importance in our live.
