Eastport Animal Hospital

Ive had several dogs over the years. For the past 4 years, Ive been bringing my 2 German Shepards here. Most places Ive taken them to in the past were decent. However, now that Ive taken them to Eastport animal hospital, I will never go anywhere else. All 3 vets, Dr Howard, Duffy, and Hultberg are probably the most talented and caring vets Ive ever dealt with. They have literally saved 2 of my dogs lives, 1 being when my female was hit and run by an suv, the other being when 1 had a ball stuck in his throat. I will never ever take my dogs to another veterinary hospital. I will also say that their entire staff is extremely helpful and loving. Always very pleasant. I read a small amount off negative reviews on here with people complaining that they were too busy to take a pet for some kind of emergency, etc. People... they can only do so much. Us, as the customer, no matter how long weve been going there, have to be understanding that they can only handle so many animals at one time. Trust me when I say this. My dogs are like my kids. I will do just about anything for them. So, if Im putting my trust in these vets, thats definitely saying a lot. Ive never had a single issue with them.

We are so very grateful for Eastport Animal Hospital, Dr. Kristen Hultberg, and her team. They are absolutely amazing and true professionals.We have a two year old Cane Corso, Enzo, who is 140lbs and nervous when going to the vet. We have been to two vets previously and they seemed to be apprehensive to work with Enzo because he is so large. They were not very patient and didnt care to explain anything to us e.g. need for various vaccines and medicine. They would give him vaccines without asking about our lifestyle. They prescribed him medicine without explanation or discussion of risks. We just trusted them. As a result Enzo didnt have a good reaction to a tick and flea preventative, it made him sick and when we brought it up they dismissed and belittled our concerns. Another vet even told us Enzo would eventually become aggressive because he is not fixed (even though Enzo has never had any instance of aggression and that vet made that conclusion upon meeting him once). We started to feel like we couldnt trust vets and we felt disheartened. We thought maybe we would not be able to take Enzo to the vet for preventative care ever.But then we gave it one more chance and decided to call Eastport Animal Hospital, and we are absolutely blown away by the care, patience, positivity, and professionalism they showed us. Everyone was so kind to us and Dr. Hultberg explained treatment options, gave us advice, and she didnt rush things with Enzo.We could see the main goal was to keep the experience positive for Enzo, which no other vet ever cared about.Enzo was too nervous to go inside for his appointment, so Dr. Hultberg and her team worked with Enzo in the parking lot. They were able to give him vaccines and do blood work. It was so positive for Enzo and he loves them all. I was emotional from the kindness and patience they showed us, which in our experience is so rare.We are so amazed and grateful. I never expected such exceptional care. They treated Enzo with such love. Im just so happy we found a doctor and team that cares. And we finally have peace of mind that Enzo will have the preventative care that he needs to have a long and happy life. Thank you so very much from our family and Enzo.

Ive been taking my pets here for many years. Dr. Duffy and Dr. Howard have always gone above and beyond for me and the rest of the staff are wonderful. I highly recommend them.

Love Dr. Duffy! Staff is wonderful! Cant say enough about Eastport Animal Hospitals compassion towards all the pets that come through their door! Dr. Duffy takes his time explaining every detail. He treats your pet like his own. He is the best!!!

Just had to put down my dog of 6 years with them. Over 6 years, they helped me become a better dog owner. They got me through when he decided to eat the couch. They made sure he lived his healthiest life. And when he came down with hereditary hemangiosarcoma, they didnt worry about me not having money until pay day, they worried about my dog and mine wellbeing. They made sure my dog was well looked after. They didnt try to finagle bs tests and try to nickle and dime. When Im ready to adopt another dog, I have no doubt where Im going. Thank you for making caring for my dog so easy Dr. Howard, Dr. Duffy and company.

Dr Johnson and the techs are great. dr Johnson is honest, knowledgeable, and we have never been rushed . we have brought at least 6 different dogs to him through the years and he has been excellent. he has helped us bring a few of our dogs over the rainbow bridge with compassion, dignity and a true sense of caring.

I love Dr. Duffy. I followed him when he moved to this Hospital. The staff there are so warm and nurturing. They truly care about my pets. Highly recommend them

Always a Terrific place for pet care.Been going here for years now.You can leave a card on file pick up medication while on the run ..very helpful.Staff is helpful, it is a very place so staff does what it can to answer calls in timely fashion.

Best hospital around i wouldnt trust my dogs to anybody else! Great staff!!

We hadnt brought our pets there before but when our cat was dying and our regular, (now former) vet dropped the ball, we called them last minute to put our cat to rest, they made time in their busy schedule to get us immediately. They were so compassionate and kind. It made a heart breaking time a little bit easier.

They take the best care of my baby here. She’s a 14 year old deaf rescue pit with LOTS of medical issues including arthritis and now, cancer. They are clean and friendly and aren’t a money grabbing office. They won’t talk you into more expensive unnecessary things. The doctors are all knowledgeable and very professional. They make the bad times as pleasant as they can.

Took amazing care of my dog before she passed away. she went with a smile on her face every time so excited to be there. on her last day she was happier than ever to be there. they do the same with my cat and other two puppies now! warm welcoming and always a good visit

I brought my Pup because he got sick, they were super attentive! They walked me through everything and prescribed some medicine I asked questions and they answered them thoroughly. The Staff were very friendly and professional! I highly recommend this place to anyone who has a pet! As they are an essential part of your family. Also! They didnt charge me a lot which was awesome as well. Any pet I have I will always be coming here! Highly recommend this Vet! And also my Pup is doing a lot better because of it! We love Eastport Animal Hospital. I bring my 3 dachshunds there and they arent the easiest group of dogs to deal with. Every single Doctor and tech there is amazing and deal with each of my dogs wonderfully. And the front desk is always graceful when they have to deal with a crazy dog mom like me. Everyone there is great. Would recommend them to anyone!

Sweet friendly animal lovers make up the staff, Drs are caring and terrific. Dr. Howard is one of the nicest people Ive ever known, my 12 year-old Mia wouldnt go anywhere else, she pulls me inside by her leash each time we visit.. Go there. Youll be happy and so will your pet. Id give this Vet 10 stars if I could!!

The staff is very friendly, very informative and they were very accommodating! My dog is such an anxious boy and they made him and I feel very comfortable.

My first visit to Eastport Animal Hospital after moving from Nassau County to Moriches in Suffolk County was exceptional. My dog was suffering from severe flareup of Arthritis and they were highly recommended by my daughter. The staff was very efficient and friendly. They treated my dog and I as though we had been coming to them for years. It was a very comfortable feeling to be treated in that manner. I too would highly recommend them.

So they took care of my cat who is difficult. But to get an appt. With them is a nightmare. They used to be so great with that. The female doc was nice but dr. Duffy was amazing. The experience is not the same when you go there. 😕 its changed! I miss dr Duffy more willing to work with you, not just about the money. They need docs like him and they need to make it easier to get an appt. Oh and why cant 3 people go inside at a time in the 3 rooms they have? Where a mask. This way you can be with your pet and speak with the doc. Dont know if I will stay with them unless they change things. I am not the only one that feels this way.

Great veterinarian. This office is not close to my house but I have been to other veterinarians and dr duffy is well worth the drive. Very competent and compassionate. He is very good at diagnosing. He is also realistic and will not suggest tests or procedures that may not change the plan or care on pet, making your bill reasonable. As an RN I know good doctors are not always easy to find and I will stick with dr duffy.

Weve been using Doctor Duffy and Doctor Howard for years now and are very satisfied with the way they take care of our pets. We would recommend their Veterinarian services to anyone with fur babies.

My dog Chance was becoming ill and showing signs of the c word. Even upon my initial call for a second opinion, the front staff took immediate ownership of my concerns and worries. They insisted my dog be brought to be seen by them immediately, and even rearranged there schedule for us. As it turns out, my best friend of 10 years was terminally sick and was ready to go to a better place. The entire office, receptionists, nurses and doctors, we more sensitive than I could even imagine. My vet of 10 years didnt even come close. After bringing him in for the last time, they were so comforting in explaining the process and expressing their condolences. Losing Chance was the hardest thing I ever went through, and I can honestly say that every little effort shown by everyone around me helped a lot. And when the bad new starts from the doctor, its so important on how you are treated. Thank you guys for everything. I know we couldnt do much else, but thanks for keeping him comfortable and helping him to a much better place. If you knew him, you would know he would be so appreciative. Hopefully there will be a Junior in the future for you to help me care for. Thanks again.

Great experience. My cat had an accident since she was nervous. She was cleaned up nicely and so was her carrier. Dr Howard was very thorough with her assessments.

They are awesome. We have been taking our fur babies to Eastport Animal wellness for years. About 6 years ago 1st little girl became gravely Ill and had to be taken to inic in Riverhead. We had a long trip back and we were trying to make descions from the road. The Vets there were wonderful and would speak with the doctors at the 3 in RH then translate to laymans terms in order for us to make informed decision before getting back to the island. Never charged us a dime. After our girl passed we adopted two puppies and they have taken great care of them. We board them and they come back out to us happy and well adjusted, it almost seems like they want to stay! We recommend EPAW with complete confidence and trust.

Had to review after reading the previous bad review. Ive been taking my cat to Dr Duffy since he joined the Hospital and moved there because Dr Duffy did. My cat is 17, has had a couple surgeries and in general hates going to the vet so he is probably the worst client they have. But the hospital has taken excellent care of him and I wouldnt trust my animals with anyone else.

Dr. Duffy is the reason we go here. I have seen the other Vets, though, for my Rotty and my Maltese/Shitsui furbabies. They are amazing with the animals. Vets speak to me about choices and respect my decisions...no judgements, just clarity. I enjoy each visit, the employees are friendly and down to earth. I would highly recommend this place to anyone.

I Have many animals and this is the only place id ever go!! Dr.Duffy and his wonderful staff go above and beyond to make sure my 4 legged children are taken care of. Everyone worrys going to the vet. But when i go to Dr.Duffy with his high level of care and helpfullness... im relieved and thankful when i see him. Hes the best of the best!

Dr duffy is awesome. However dr howard told me my children are just dogs. Disappointed disgusting horrible bedside manners from a so called vet. Insulting me bc i am not a vet or a tech just a medical assistant. I dont know anything. after he did a crappy stitch job on my youngest dog(child) i need to control my hyper dog so the stitches dont come out! Howard horrible. Duffy is a dream but I feel i need to change doctors bc its howards practice and i no longer want to feed his pockets!

My family has been bringing their pets to Dr. Duffy for years. I drive my dog two hours to see him. He is definately the best I have seen and I trust him more than anyone.

Ive been bringing my dog to Eastport for three years. The doctors are top notch, reception is on-the-ball and professional, the reception area and examining rooms are clean and welcoming to both human and animal. Highly recommend.

Worst veterinary experience of my life. We took a cat in to have a SIMPLE test done for feline leukemia. After sitting in the waiting room which smelled likely like wet dog, but distinctly of urine, our cat was taken in to be examined. Shortly after they took her, we were called into the examination room. The cat was bleeding from the ear and we were told in an effort to retrieve the blood, the cat clawed her own ear and actually split it down the middle. The shotty vet techs clearly did not know how to hold or handle a cat, and explained to us that they would not be able to do it. Dr. Duffy appeared immediately after this, blamed the cat for his employees crap job, and before hastily rushing off, somehow managed to give us the worst attitude in such a short amount of time. After stating my opinions, a different doctor came in - who in their defense, had a much better attitude than the previous - and took the cat to have blood drawn. He returned and explained the cat had drawn blood from three different people - at which point I was entirely puzzled as to how an animal hospital doesnt have gloves for their employees, or at the very least a towel to restrain the cat. Even the most loving of cats can turn into complete monsters when faced with what could be a threatening situation. How could trained professionals not have a clue as to how to handle the situation? I should have paid the extra money and gone to Center Moriches Veterinary Hospital. Lesson learned.

Clearly the only negative reviews are the ones from people who dont realize that having a pet is like having a child and they require medical attention and ANNUAL check ups, which cost money... just because you WebMD a symptom your pet is having doesnt mean that is the answer, your not the one who went to Veterinary school! it takes tests and diagnostics (plural) to sometimes figure out the underlying cause of an issue... stop getting your panties in a bunch and penny pinching and start taking better care of your animals and keeping up with their medical needs and you wont be as uptight as you are! i have nothing but the utmost respect for all these doctors AND their staff, seeing how busy and overwhelmed it can get in there im surprised they manage to keep calm and continue to do a 100% wonderful job. KEEP IT UP EAH!

I was quoted a price of $45 to take my dog for a checkup and rabies shot.When finished I was given a bill of $295 and told to return with dog to get teeth cleanedfor another $600. They scam to steel your money, stay far away from them.

Dr. Duffy is the best! This will always be my top choice for my pets, they have saved many of my cats and dogs in the past.

Dr. Morgenstern is very caring toward our cat. She is very polite and professional. She is the only Vet our cat will see from now on.

Since 2006 I have brought my dogs to you for their care. Throughout the years we have been very happy with the care received from all the vets on staff. On Saturday however,  I was very disappointed with how the receptionist handled my call. My older dog was bitten on the eye by a mystery bug and his eye blew up like a balloon. He is a 10 year old large breed with Lyme disease and therefore I was very concerned about him.She said they were booked up and unable to see him. I offered to come to the office and wait for a gap between patients. She absolutely refused.I ended up going to an emergency vet with my dog and paying an exorbitant amount of money to a vet both my dog and I didnt know. Being a long time client of Eastport Animal Hospital; they should have accommodated my dog. I realized that booking can be an issue, however provisions should be made for urgent cases.

Extremely intelligent and knowledgeable veterinarians. The staff is also very efficient.

I have been bringing my pets to Eastport Animal Hospital since they opened thier doors. Dr.Duffy is one of the best Vets and I have known for years. I actually met him when he worked for another office. I have brought all my family dogs for his professional guidance from Puppies to end of life care. He understands that connection we have with our pets and he does not exploit that emotion for profit unlike the storys I hear from so many people. He honest and caring. His military service is something I honor and respect. I recommend Eastport Animal Hospital for all your vet needs.

Went for opinion on a growth on my dog. All my questions and concerns were answered and put at ease about anesthesia and the procedure and after care.

I have been going to this vet for well over 8 years , I called and made an appt to have my 2 dogs vaccinated for boarding . I called over a month ago to board them and was told they didn’t have any opening for the dates that I needed. When I made the appt for vaccination the girl out in the wrong date for the 28th instead of the 14th. When I showed up for my appt today I was told that the earliest appt was the 28th and there was nothing they could do . That is completely ridiculous that you can’t get a simple appt and It’s 2 weeks out . What would they have done if my dog was sick ? I was forced to take my pet care to another vet who is able to care for them the way they should be cared for . I am extremely disappointed in the service and lack of availability . And the fact that I am forced to take my babies to another vet when this office is the only vet they have ever known . The claim was that they are down a Dr. if you are unable to run a vet office and unable to care for our fur babies then maybe it’s time to close the doors .

My fiance and I dont have enough good things to say about Dr. Duffy and the rest of the staff at Eastport Animal Hospital... I met Dr Duffy 10 years ago when we found out my kitty had a tumor on her heart, he was so empathetic and compassionate when he told us Rashas diagnosis and didnt pressure us into anything..fast forward to last Christmas when I brought my husky pup home ....I knew there was no other person I wanted caring for my new fur baby. The entire staff at Eastport Animal Hospital is amazing, kind compassionate, caring and down to earth!. prices are very very reasonable and I have never felt like they are taking advantage of me because they know they can (not something you can say about everyone) bottom line, if you need someone to take care of your babies please go see Dr Duffy! We will never go anywhere else!
