My wife and I adopted a 12 yr old Bassett hound and the pet rescue used this facility to treat Colonel. It was a 90 minute drive, one way, for me and my wife to Fort Plain Animal Hosp. But it was well worth it! Very caring and helpful veterinarian. Our Colonel needed and had numerous operations there and we are happy to say he is doing very well! Colonel on the left and his new step sister (Stella) on the right..

I love everyone here! Weve had to bring so many pets to Fort Plain Animal Hospital for well visits, vaccines, blood work, and even euthanasia, and theyve all been wonderful there! Thank you to Dr.s Weaver, Chen and Rocco, AND all the vet techs and staff for all youve done for us! The only thing I wish for would be lower prices, but theyre all AMAZING!

We board our dog here and have been for his entire life . For 10 years they have taken great care of our dog. We board him at least twice a year. The caretakers love animals and get to know your pet. They watch over him and his health throughout his stay. Then they give a pass down to us once picked up. Reasonably priced.

Great service! Have been clients for 5 years with the very different dogs. Staff has always been top notch. Our dogs always feel comfortable there. Prices are higher than other vets in the sounding area however I believe that the quality of service provided makes it worth it.

They took decent care of my cat but failed to properly advise us of the prices beforehand. There wasnt any need to wait and we were able to make an appointment easily without any hassle. Our cat was well taken care of and we were out of there just as fast as when we came in. They had very friendly staff that was gentle, kind and understanding of our situation. They were also nice to our cat XD.

Will never use their services again. My dog got hit by a car and broke his hind leg. They told us it should heal with a splint and to come back every 2 weeks for a splint change and meds which would be about $150 though the 2 times we went back it was over $300 and almost $600. Not only that the second time we went back for them to change the splint they told us we would need to wrap the top of it with duct tape because they couldnt properly secure it since they didnt have tape large enough! Then the 3rd visit they told my boyfriend my dogs leg was not healing (proceeded to bend the Breck back and forth to show my boyfriend) and told him we had 3 choices to go to a surgeon and pay to have plates put in, have the leg amputated or put our dog down. He then sent them home with nothing to support the leg and no pain medication. Once I found out I went to the vets asking why at the very least he wasnt given pain meds and Dr. CHEN stated he forgot. When I asked how can you forget your patient needs med, that the dog has a broken leg and and infections!! He became very hostile and stated he did nothing wrong that he did his job. I tested if thats true then why am I here now? Then to top it off we went to the surgeon in Pattersonville for our dog and she stated his leg WAS healing ,that while plates would help him heal his bones were well aligned and will most likely heal fine even without the surgery. She also stated he DID NOT need amputation and putting him down was not needed she didnt even see why Dr. CHEN would suggest either at this time tht the Infection was superficial (not in the bone as Dr.Chen suggested). And lastly the medication that was prescribed to sedate my dog by Ft.Plain Animal hospital was 1/6th the dose a dog his size should have been prescribed which would.explain why he wasnt sedated enough to heal while under the care of FT. PLAIN animal hospital. Disgusting

We take both our two dogs and two cats here and love them. They are so accommodating and friendly. Our one cat is a diabetic and can be somewhat testy at times and they have accommodated special visits to limit his stress and still give him the care he needs. They do boarding for both cats and dogs and are very reasonably priced. We highly recommend them and wouldnt want to take them anywhere else.

Dr Weaver was very nice and answered my questions patiently. The staff at the front desk are always very kind and helpful. Their love for animals really shows.

Best vets and staff around! I have been bringing my pets to them for over 10 years now, and they always treat us like family. The animals are given excellent care and compassion while here, and they genuinely care about the owners as well. I recommend FPAH to friends all the time

We felt cared about here. They knew how to help get my anxious boy in for his shots and were so caring in follow-up even at home. I cant say theyre the cheapest, but we love them.

The staff is very friendly and explained fully what to expect... Took our beloved pet in to put her down when others turned us away and our own vet put us off for almost 2 weeks..You highly recommend them to anyone who needs help with their pets

Fort Plain animal hospital is great. I feel confident in their abilities to treat my sweet French bulldog Fendi. When she was getting spayed I was a nervous wreck and the staff all ensured me she would be okay. I never felt pushed to do anything extra but the quotes were there if I was interested in doing ekgs, bloodwork, and other additional things to help her heal. Emily is always great at getting Fendi in if she needs to be seen, and the techs always treat Fendi like their own! She has not needed to be seen since her spay, but I would not hesitate to call if she does!

The vet and the vet tech are awesome. They were very nice and friendly. I brought my two boys with me to drop my kittens off to have their spaying done. My boys spotted the toys under the table and were playing with them. I brought them with me to pick up the kittens in the afternoon and they started to play with the toys which by the way is a tool bench with hammers and stuff the reciptionist comes over takes the toys out of their hands and says that we have to be quiet because someone was putting their sick cat down and all the noise is disrespectful. Which I do agree that is was disrespectful but I think it could have been handled differently she could have quietly told me when I walked into the door what was going on and I would have made my kids sit and behave. It felt like she was really annoyed with what they were doing and felt like she was yelling at them.

Have been bringing my fur friends here for many years. Love Dr Chen and Dr Weaver. The staff is superior. I did not have the best experience with Martha. Called to make an appointment and felt a bit disrespected by her. Hope it is not something that will be repeated.

We brought our dog, Lucy, in today for some health issues that were alarming us. We were given medication and told that she would need to take it for the rest of her life. A few hours and an emergency vet later, our dog is in the emergency animal hospital, needing transfusions. They told us she “may” require a transfusion, and then when we became alarmed at her worsening condition, we were told “if she’s still alive around 7 (six hours away) then I’d take her to the emergency vet for transfusions. But she’ll likely pass. We ended up at the emergency, and were told it could’ve all been avoided, had they responded properly to her alarming blood work. Every other experience I’ve had with these guys has been phenomenal. But they really let Lucy down. And now we don’t know when she’ll be coming home. I’m disgusted and heart broken. My boyfriend is devastated. These guys really need to be held accountable. And I intend to do so.

It was my first visit to this animal hospital. I had to take my dads dog. During the Health crisis that limits interpersonal contact oh, it was very clearly labeled what to do when you pulled into their parking lot. I bet that came out to discuss problem with me. She took time to get to know the dog before she took him inside for examination. Within a reasonable amount of time I was on the phone with the vet,Dr. Weavern learning about his situation , what they does doree him, and how to treat him when we got home. I was very pleased.

I have had all positive experiences with the Fort Plain Animal Hospital.I find Dr. Weaver is a very caring and realistic person.My three cats and dog are comfortable and like the staff members.Victoria Kraft

If your looking for a vet that can actually figure out what is wrong with your pet look no further! Most detailed exam I have seen with any vet practice. Finally got answers to our dogs issues and treated correctly! They truly love each and every animal. Your pet will not just be a number with them.

They got my dog in for a same-day appointment and our issue seems to have been a simple injury and only required a quick exam. Good quick service and friendly staff.

I want to thank Dr. Chen for his outstanding work with managing cancer in animals.Without his great medicine, my dog would not have beaten cancer - against all odds Dr. Chen got her through this horrible disease. My car was too big to fit in a carrier so they took him as is with his blanket. They were in and out with him feeling better in 15 minutes . The staff was also super friendly which is a plus.

My family and I have been going to FPAH for years now. They have saved my furbabies from hardship, and were there for comfort when I lost my one baby to Lyme disease. They try their best to make it as affordable as possible for care and services. Most importantly though, they TRULY care about the animals they take care of. They also understand the bond between an animal and its owner/family. Amazing, compassionate, overall outtlstanding staff.

Very happy with the care my dog received and was pretty affordable compared to other places. My dog was already feeling better by the time he got home.

I have used four vets previously and this was by far my best experience. Dr. Weaver explained what was going on with my boy Trouble thoroughly. I appreciate that so much. My animals are my kids also. 💖

They say adversity brings out the real person. Good, or bad. If thats the case, then I say the support staff at the hospital are just the best. Caring and sensitive. There when you need them. They go above and beyond. However, I cannot say that about the veterinarians.To begin with, there are NO emergency hours. If you call after 5PM, you get an answering service that has you call a place in Lathem or Oneonta. In fact, Ive called there at 4:45 and the phones were already switched over to the answering service. When I asked Dr. Weaver why there was no emergency hours, she replied that she was exhausted after working 3 1/2 to 4 1/2 days a week and could not do any more. I pointed out that physicians share with on-call. People nor animals get sick or injured on a 9 to 5 basis.Recently, my cat, who has been going to the FPAH for all his life, came to the end of his life span. No matter how much I tried, I could not keep him going. I called the FT. Plain Animal Hospital to come to my house and end his suffering.( I had arranged this ahead of time) It was Christmas Eve. and they had hours until noon. When I called I was told they were booked. I mentioned that they said they would come to my house. They could do that when they were finished seeing patients. It would only add an hour to the doctors day and I would pay for any additional fees associated with the house call. When Dr. weaver was asked, I was told she said it was too far to drive. I live 6 miles away! I was told to call Lathem or Oneonta. Maybe they would come out. Really? Both are over an hours drive. They would drive 60 miles, but Dr. Weaver would not drive 6?Dr. Chen is the other veterinarian at the FPAH. I asked him for Fentanyl patches for my cat. He didnt even know they made them for cats.The vets are, at best, competent. Year after year, exam after exam, X-ray after X-ray, they didnt notice my cat had cancer. They gave me antibiotics for his wheezing and breathing problems.I will say, Dr. Chen did answer all of my email questions. But he did it from 9 to 5.I am financially responsible for three other cats that currently go to the FPAH. They will never see the inside of that place again. I have been going to this hospital since DR. Conrade started it. Lately it seems to be quite expensive for office visits. Since this is the only hospital Ive been to, I cannot say they are more expensive than any other. I can say they are more expensive than my MDs.

For being a nee patient they have been amazing with my animals. Even called my vet where we moved from to get the record. Amazing crew of people.

The young lady I spoke to was great, she was friendly and knowledgeable. I have all the info I need to take care of my business with them.

In summer of 2015 my pure chocolate lab passed out at camp and was very lathargic...I thought I was going to have to put the animal to sleep at only three years old. Dr. Chen brought me in immediately and took an extensive blood test and found a parasite in the dogs bloodstream. Put her on medication and a diet change and whalaa she is 150% better and has back all her pep in her step...He cares and goes above and beyond his duties. Thanks Dr. Chen you rule!!!!!

I took my sons german shepard to see DR. CHEN .He suggested some tests to diagnose the dogs problems,I asked how much it would cost ,he told me it would cost $127 for the visit and i agreed. The dog was diagnosed with hookworm and a skin infection, and suggested some medications ,iasked how much the medications would cost and he replied that he would make a printout,5minutes later he showed me the printout and the medications would cost about $400, I told him i could not afford to purchase the medication from him and that i would use my own pharmacy (where i bought the medications for under $100) He then had a temper tantrum and said(why didnt i tell him before that i was going to use my own pharmacy) i replied because i didnt know that you were going to charge me 4 times the amount that any pharmacy would charge.He then said as he was walking out of the exam room that i would have to wait for the prescriptions as if he were punishing me(he did make me wait another 20 minutes but i got the scripts Basically he got really upset when he realized he wasnt going to get all that extra money for the meds. .As you might have guessed i will never go back . If you go there just know that he marks up his medication 400% for the same medication at any online pharmacy or tractor supply. update

Brought a gentleman frm hrk with his cat copper to get fixed. Got here a bit after 8am... to soon to tell. How it is.
