Susan has done a great job with my Shiloh not only teaching him commands/listening skills, but also socializing him with other dogs and cats. She truly cares about the animals she trains and cares for. Her breadth and depth of knowledge about animals is remarkable! The advice she has given me has been most helpful with Rebel. I recommend A Pawsitive Experience without hesitation!
Susan has helped our family by teaching us how to understand our dogs needs and behaviors. She quickly identified some areas we, as pet owners, needed to improve and gave us the tools to reinforce the good behavior we wanted to see from the pups.I appreciate her eye for detail and way of breaking down lessons into digestible parts. Our training sessions built up on the successes of previous sessions and the feedback we received was in line with our self reflection; praise for improvements made and tips for shoring up areas of struggle. We have a more peaceful home, with 2 pups and 2 young kids, now that we have the knowledge to set behavioral expectations for the dogs and the confidence to put our training exercises into practice.Thank you, Susan! I highly recommend her services to anyone serious about helping their good boys become great boys.
Susan is truly fantastic, no other way to describe her. From personal experience A Pawsitive Experience with Susan is the only place I would trust to bring my dog for day care and for longer stays. One can leave his/her dog and know that their pup will be in good hands and have the time of their life. Additionally, she will keep you updated on how your pup is doing and is very transparent and honest!!!!! I left Leo with Susan for three months and not only has Leo gotten super responsive and calmer. Highly, HIGHLY recommend! Truly understands dogs, owners and the importance of training for building a loving relationship between the two.
My husband and I have a very energetic 14 month old Border Collie - Susan was recommended to us by friends, and I can say that he is a totally new dog after going through the PAWS program! He is so much calmer and he has learned so many new skills. He doesnt bolt out the door like he used to, now he knows to wait for us to give him permission. Susan taught us how to handle him better as well, which has turned us into better dog owners! We are both impressed with Susans knowledge base, and we have seen significant improvements in our dogs behavior. I highly recommend Susan for both training needs and boarding! We will continue to take our dog to Susan once a week so that he can continue to work on his skills. We are so happy with our investment, and can definitely say we had such a pawsitive experience with using Susan as our trainer!
When I got my golden retriever puppy he was a hot mess and I knew he needed to be trained. A co-worker recommended Susan and Im so glad she did. Since completing her puppy course, my puppy has completely changed. Susan created a program that was specifically catered to him and what he needed. While providing consistency and structure she gave him love and praise. Since I live a bit far, I left my puppy boarded there. Throughout the entire process, she communicated about his progress, how he was doing and his overall growth. She reassured me he was having fun and enjoying his stay. Without Susan I would have been lost when it came to my new puppy. I HIGHLY recommend her and her services. Shes very knowledgeable. My dog was always happy when he was under her care.
If you’re looking for a great place for your canine family member I highly recommend Pawsitive. Susan has helped my Chocolate Girl Sophia learn how to overcome her anxiety issues. After only 3 weeks of daycare as well as a few nights of boarding, Sophie has become more confident and less anxious. She loves the other dogs.I feel good about the fact that Susan assesses all the dogs to be sure they are a good fit . When Sophie stayed for boarding she was in a home environment and became one of Susan’s family. I love that Sophie is so happy to go to daycare and that she’s tired from a day of play when she comes home. Pawsitive is not only Susan’s business but also her passion. She truly loves what she does and it shows.
I have been entrusting my dogs to Susan at A Pawsitive Experience since 2007, so when I was finally ready for a puppy I knew there was nowhere else that I wanted to take him for training and daycare! I enrolled him in the PAWS program (5 days a week for 4 weeks), and I couldn’t be more thrilled with the results. Susan’s positive approach to training is amazing, and both Arlo and I learned a lot – she trains the person as well as the dog 😊. From day one he was exposed to dogs of all sizes, personalities, and ages, as well as cats. And he was subjected to “real life” experiences (doorbells, deliveries, people he didn’t know, etc.) which helped him learn how to cope with them. I still take him to daycare twice a week, and I know that he is safe and happy and well taken care of. I can’t say enough good things about Susan - I would highly recommend A Pawsitive Experience to anyone who needs training, daycare, or boarding!
When I decided to get a Golden Retriever puppy I knew I would need some guidance. I got Coco at 8 weeks old. I was a bit overwhelmed so I started searching and reading reviews for places that have puppy training. I came across A Pawsitive Experience and saw the 5 star reviews so I decided to give Susan a call. Im so thankful I made that call. Coco attended the PAWS program and has continued to attend Susans daycare for the past 10 months. Susan is very knowledgeable and has provided invaluable advice on how to communicate with my dog in a positive way, thereby building a healthy and happy relationship. She taught me to look at my actions and reactions when interacting with Coco. Ive learned so much and it has made me a better dog mama! A Pawsitive Experience provides a safe and nurturing environment where my dog can socialize and be cared for by someone I trust, and Im learning a lot along the way. I will forever be grateful for the positive impact Susan has had on my life with Coco.
I met Susan in a Shiloh shepherd group I belong to on Facebook. I reached out to her to discuss the breed because this is my 1st Shiloh puppy. I found her at the perfect time! We had made other arrangements to board our 2 dogs for a 10 day vacation, but Susan was able to accommodate us at her place instead and I am so thankful! My golden had a blast playing with the dogs during his stay. My Shiloh pup is fearful and we will be working on training with Susans PAWS program. I highly recommend Pawsitive Experience especially if you are looking for a long term daycare facility or if you need assistance with training. Susan truly cares about each dog that comes into her home and they will receive the best care! We were able to enjoy our vacation knowing that our dogs were in great hands!
I enrolled my 4 month old lab shepherd mix in the 4 week long PAWS program. Since my puppy was a rescue, he was initially very nervous around new people and other dogs. Susan did an excellent job of socializing him and helping him become the confident pup that he his today. In addition to this change of behavior, Susan was great to work with and showed me many helpful tips on how to handle unfamiliar situations that come along with being a first time dog owner. This program was extremely helpful and I would highly recommend it to anyone with a new puppy!
Susan is an angel in disguise! As a new dog owner and long time animal lover I knew very little about how to care for my 7 year old English Yellow Labrador who came to me after having 5 litters at a breeding kennel. Susan knew exactly what my girl needed!!! She offered her love, structure, consistency, and new friends. Honestly she offered her a 2nd home! Susan has also shared so much advice and help with the little challenges I never saw coming... I’m sure there will be more of these and it’s comforting to know that Susan will always take the time to help me figure these things out. Susan keeps the best interest of the dogs in her care in mind at all times. She individualizes her care based on what that particular dog needs. My dog is always happy upon her arrival to daycare. Susan has amazing hours and is a great communicator so if I have asked for some flexibility she has always been able to accommodate my dog. Any dog young, old or in between would be lucky to be a part of the A Pawsitive Experience family! I strongly endorse Susan, her work/business and the environment she provides for the dogs!!!
After our 10 month old highly energetic, yet also anxious, black lab flunked out of another doggy daycare after 1 day, we were referred to Susan. She encouraged us to enroll our dog in the 4-week PAWS program. It helped him immensely. The amount of nervous behaviors (drooling, barking, etc.) have been drastically reduced. When we take him for walks at home, hes so much better on the leash. Hes learning how to get along well with other dogs through appropriate play. Our dog now loves going to daycare a couple times a week with Ms. Susan.
Susan has been a huge part in the proper development and training of our dog, Macy. We enrolled Macy in the PAWS program and not only was Macy surrounded by great role models in the other dogs who go there, but was also in an environment where training through positive enforcement is integral to the experience. Macy was set up for success at a young age and Susan was incredibly helpful in teaching me how to effectively interact with my new puppy, always taking the time to answer any questions I had and also offering advice and feedback. I highly recommend Pawsitive Experience and Susan to anyone who is looking for foundational training, socialization, or boarding/daycare. You will not be disappointed!
We fully trust Susan with our 8 month old great Dane, Margaret. We did the 4 week PAWS program and saw a big improvement in our puppys obedience. Great Danes are known for being picky when it comes to training and the job Susan did was remarkable. Susan not only is great at correcting the puppys behavior, shes great at correcting the human behaviors that help with a dogs development. Go Bills.
My 3 year old rescue has been going to Pawsitive for 2 years. Without Susan and her expertise, I would have had to return him to the rescue. His separation anxiety and impulsive behavior were out of control. Scout happily goes to daycare several days a week. Needless to say, he is a completely different dog and a much-loved part of our family. Susan continues to work with Scout and treat him like he is one of her own. She also understands dogs like no other. I highly recommend A Pawsitive Experience.Leia, my 1 year old lab/corgi mix rescue, is now one of Susan’s four- legged clients at Pawsitive. I wouldn’t trust anyone else to take care of my fur kids. Leia is typically skittish around new people and unfamiliar places. However, she feels completely comfortable with Susan and the other dogs in residence. Both of my precious dogs stayed with Susan this past week. I enjoyed my vacation, knowing full well that they were cared for like her own.
If you have a dog or puppy who needs some guidance, We HIGHLY recommend A Pawsitive Experience! Susan is an incredible trainer and person who will help you and your dog grow in ways you never thought possible! I have never met someone with so much patience and knowledge when it comes to dogs and their behavior. Our pup spent some time in the PAWS program and it has really made a positive impact not only on our lives, but the beginning of hers! She now has the foundations to be successful throughout the remainder of her therapy and service training!
My wife and I purchased a retriever puppy almost two years ago and only a few months after we realized that our dog needed to play and be with other dogs. Her exposure to other dogs was limited and the interactions were teaching her very bad habits. Once we were at Pawsitive everything changed. Susan was able to help teach us important commands we never knew, as well as etiquette that should be expected of all dogs. Susan helped get our relationship with our dog under control before we lost it. Doggy care helped her energy levels and we no longer worry when we see other dogs approaching. We were so please that at over a year old we put our dog through Susans Puppy Boot Camp a six week program. Our only regret is we did not make all of these decision sooner! Thank you Pawsitive Experience!
What a great experience we have had at Positive Experience! Our new puppy joined the PAWS programming and has truly been transformed! He is much more comfortable with other dogs now. He is still learning about new things but Susans ability to relate to him has been amazing. She has not only transformed our puppy but us too as new puppy owners. I would highly recommend Positive Experience to others. This is an amazing program that any new puppy owner should consider. It has made a huge impression on our family.
We have been bring out American Mastiff since he was 10 weeks old, he is now 5. He loves it there. He went through her PAWS program twice, it is a great value and a wonderful way to train your puppy. Susan is very flexible for day care and overnight stays, we travel a lot and our dog always is happy to spend time there, and we have the piece of mind that he is in a safe fun spot. I highly recommend Susan and Pawsitive Experience for your dog training and boarding needs, you wont be disappointed.
Susan is a first class trainer and friend. 13 years ago, we took our then 6 week old lab puppies for puppy school. She taught us the skills we needed to train our dogs to be good and sociable companions. Over the years, we also used daycare and boarding services, knowing that our dogs would have fun and be well cared for. Susan is consistently a resource for any possible question or concern. My Dylan passed away this week and who was one of the first persons to offer condolences. Yup, Susan. If/when I begin the search for a new companion, I will again turn to Susan for assistance.
I have Livestock Guardian dogs which are a really unique kind of dog to train. My first dog ever, I didnt know what I was doing enough and didnt train him well so he became unmanageable. It is now a few years later and time for a new pup to be raised and trained to learn my farm. I was so afraid of making the same mistakes again, which is why I hired Susan. Susan not only understood these kinds of breeds, but understood me and how to teach me and Ash together. Hes doing great -- its a fine balance between learning to manage him AND keeping his natural guardian instincts. Im looking forward to having her around as a guide for me and Ash to have the best farmlife possible!
We just completed a seven week course for our recently adopted Mini Schnauzer with Susan. She helped us work through some issues with our newest family member and was absolutely wonderful working with our daughter and our dog together. She knows what shes doing when it comes to all things dog related! I am so impressed with the changes weve seen in our dog and family through working with Susan. We know how to continue training our dog going forward rather than just mastering a few commands. Very empowering to learn as a new dog owner.
I cannot say enough wonderful things about Susan at A Pawsitive Experience! We have been bringing our puppy Kristoff for the PAWS program and have also used boarding services.Susan not only works with the dogs, but teaches us what we need to work on at home to follow through with training. Our pup is exposed to new people at the door, new dogs and is taught the skills needed to cope with real life situations through the PAWS program. Susan has a few different play areas to accommodate dogs of all ages and sizes. Your dog will be cared for and treated as her own throughout their stay. Five stars from me!
Im very late in writing this review and should have long ago. I was given a great Dane puppy from a family member and brought her home at 6 weeks old. I knew Dallas would definitely need training given the size she would be when fully grown. Susan had been a customer at my bakery for many years so it was a no brainer as to where I would send my puppy. Dallas participated in the PAWS program 5 days a week for 2 full weeks. I was amazed at how much my baby learned with a positive approach. Susan integrates and introduces the pups to all different breeds of dogs as well as cats. I had decided to continue to take her there for daycare after her training was complete. Dallas still knows verbal and hand commands and responds most of the time (she is currently in her teenage stage and can be defiant). Thank you so much Susan 💜
I cannot recommend pawsitive experience enough. Adding a second dog made our family nervous, especially with two small children. Susan helped with the transition, was very flexible, very reasonablity priced and even took time to show my kids some safety techniques that make a world of difference. Our puppy, moose, just loves going to his training and is excited to show off his new skills. We plan on continuing day care and using pawsitive experience for any boarding needs we have. Susan is amazing with the dogs. She truely understands their needs and has helped our family understand too. Pawsitive experience is a wonderful for any need your dog has
Eight years ago, Susan was highly recommended to us when we needed boarding services for our then 8 month old Aussie. Her knowledge and love for the dogs has been invaluable for Bailey and for us as a family ! Susan has always been there for us whenever Ive needed it. Her boarding facility is amazing and the dogs truly benefit from the interaction with other dogs. When asked where I take my energetic dog, I tell them to check the website for A Pawsitive Experience and Susan Ferry.
Anyone looking for dog training/behavior should look no further! Susan has helped me understand many aspects of my relationship with my dog. Quinn stayed with Susan for a week while I was on vacation and I never doubted for a second that she was having a great time. She was sure to send me updates on how Quinn was doing and when I returned from my trip it was obvious that she had made a lot of new friends! Susan is so passionate about what she does and it shows in her work! She delivers piece of mind to her clients and made it very easy for me to leave my girl with her! Highly recommend A Pawsitve Experience!
I have been taking my dogs to Susan Ferry for many years. When I adopted my dogs from a rescue, I found myself with dogs I never dealt with before, very active and a real handful. I have had dogs since I was a child and that was a long time. I almost gave up until Susan was recommended to me. I have learned so much about working with her and the dogs and I happy. They love to go to daycare and I always know I have a wonderful place to leave them where they have friends fun. This year a friend of mine suffered major medical problems and her dog needed to find a home. Susan was there to help me out. Not only boarded a strangers dog but found him a wonderful new home. I cant say enough about her dedication to helping dogs in need.
Susan is a lifesaver. We got a beagle puppy that was abandoned at a early age. She never learned biting from her litter mates and mother. I tried other trainers and nothing worked. I found Susan on Google and she took the time to talk to me on a Sunday regarding my puppy. I started her P.A.W.S program and after four days my puppy has stopped biting me and is so happy to go to Susans everyday. Susan is a amazing person and the way she has helped my puppy after a few days is incredible.
We had Susan come out to give us some insight on how to better build a relationship with our dogs. She was wonderful and came right to our house. I was amazed at how she was able to pick up on subtle body language cues from each of our dogs. She also got our kids involved to help them better understand how to interact with the dogs. We continue to work on the skills she has taught us and we continue to see growth in our relationship with our dogs. We had such a great experience with her that we will be taking our dogs to her a couple days a week for daycare. It is nice knowing that they will be well cared for in a wonderful, safe, home-like setting.
After experiencing a terrible, crowded, impersonal puppy class that gave us no guidance for our puppys social anxiety and fear around other dogs, I contacted Susan to teach our family the loving skills needed to successfully help our 6 month old yellow lab. Susan spent more time answering my questions during our initial phone conversation then the previous trainer did in 5 weeks of class. I cannot thank Susan enough for all the time she spends teaching us and for the genuine love and care she gives our dog - all the dogs! Our dog absolutely loves Ms. Susan ~ shes happy and has no more social anxiety or fear. Susan is incredible and we highly recommend her!
We were referred to Susans PAWS program at A Pawsitive Experience after purchasing an 8-week old boxer puppy from a backyard breeder. We were uneducated buyers, not having had a pet in over 10 years. Very quickly we found ourselves to be the owners of a puppy who had already acquired bad habits from her litter mates, including aggressive biting. Our puppys health was also below par of reputable breeders. Susan welcomed us in and cared for Scarlett as if she were her own. She went far above what we ever expected and nursed her to proper nutrition, taught her eye contact and the ability to follow commands, supported her socialization, encouraged enrichment play, all the while educating us and our kids to be successful and responsible dog owners. Her knowledge is vast and she is an expert in her field. We could not be more grateful to her and for her and we look forward to boasting about her and learning from her for many years to come.
I first met Susan when I adopted a 3 month old rescued Great Dane. I brought my dog Greta in for Susans puppy socialization program, which gave my scared, timid, unsocialized rescue, the skills to be a confident pup and a wonderful companion. I had Greta for 11 years and I believe it was due to the fantastic foundation that she got through Susans program that gave us so many years together
My dog Bella has been going to Pawsitive Experience for over 2 years. Bella had previously gone to another daycare and had some bad experiences resulting in her being scared and she no longer wanted to go. Susan was great in working with a very tentative Bella and now Bella is excited to go to Pawsitive everyday and enjoys her overnight visits as well. While I would be more than happy with Pawsitive just as a top-notch daycare & boarding facility, it is so much more. Susan has worked with Bella continually over the past 2 years and has eliminated many unwanted behaviors. Susans talent and experience is an amazing benefit that she provides (at no additional cost) while Bella is at Pawsitive. I am extremely grateful for finding Pawsitive. It is a relief to know there is always some place Bella can go where she is cared for as much as she is at home.
Our lab Fletcher went through Susans PAWS Experience and what a program. Hes well adjusted to other dogs and is very interactive and happy to be around other people. Doesnt jump up on people and extremely well-behaved, which is a testament to Susan and her program.Following the PAWS program, Fletcher goes to daycare twice a week at Susans and is always excited to go and hang out with Susan and his pals. he loves it there.Susans Happy Hour programs on Saturday and Sunday are a great way for Fletcher to interact with other dogs too. He really enjoys it.Well be boarding Fletcher for the first time over Easter and know hell be in good hands.Cant say enough nice things about Susan and Pawsitive Experience.....we could not be happier!
I am a returning client to A Pawsitive Experience. Originally from WNY, I had moved away for many years. When visiting, I occasionally needed to board my 2 Basset Hounds, and based on my sisters high recommendation, sought the services of Susan Ferry. Until this week, it had been a few years since I last boarded at APE, but Im happy to share that Susan continues to provide a consistent and safe, high quality, reasonably-priced boarding experience. She has a way with animals that had my 10 yr old feline-chasing hound actually sharing a water bowl with a cat! As a pet parent, I need to have high confidence in the capabilities of my dogs caretaker. I know that I can trust Susan to do right by my pet. I enjoyed seeing FB photos of my hound and receiving a private FB status update while I was away; also greatly appreciate the social-distancing protocols that she has implemented. I highly recommend A Pawsitive Experience!
Susan did a great job teaching me the ins and outs of being a large dog owner. Through out the month being there he went from a wild puppy to a well mannered house dog. No more jumping, mouthing, or slamming through doors just to name a few. We still use her daycare when needed and he loves it!
I have been taking my dog Rusty here for over 10 years. We began with training since my husband was a previous dog owner, I was not and we were expecting out first child. Rusty goes to daycare twice a week and gets very excited in the car when we pull up Susans driveway. I have also boarded rusty for extended times twice a year for as long as we have known Susan. Rusty loves a pawsitive experience. He loves to go play with the other dogs and most importantly he loves Susan! It is obvious. The facilities are clean and there is tons of toys and room for the dogs to run around. Susan has a wealth of knowledge on dog training and has a very special connection with the dogs, and that connection is what brings me comfort that Rusty will be well cared for! Highly recommend!
I have worked with Susan 10 years ago or so with my first family Aussie Jax for training and boarding. I am now back to continue with her help on finding my own first dog for myself! She has been amazing with helping me narrow down the right breed to fit my lifestyle while also catering to my wants and needs in a dog. She amazes me day after day with all her knowledge and guidance. I highly recommend her if your searching for your new companion.
We brought our puppy Shelby here for the puppy program and boarding and we could not have been happier with the progress she made throughout the puppy program. She learned manners with other dogs and people and important commands like leave it and touch. She learned the importance of body language in dogs, cats and other people (as did we!). Shelby was always so excited to get to school everyday and could not have been happier to go. Rest assured your pup is in great, super knowledgeable and skilled hands. Susan is incredibly knowledgeable about training dogs, health issues to watch out for and will help give you knowledge to have a healthy and happy puppy, most importantly she loves her dogs and wants what’s best for them and you!
I cannot speak more highly of Susan Ferry and A Pawsitive Experience. When we decided to add an English Mastiff puppy to our family we knew we wanted to train him well but also knew with four girls aged 9,8,6, & 5, a senior English Bulldog, & 2 adults working full time, that would not be an easy task. Say no more, Susan to the rescue! Susan Ferry came highly recommended from a friend. We enrolled our Henry shortly after we got him. He began the P.A.W.S. program at 10 weeks old. I am amazed after four weeks! Henry responds to hand signals to come, wait, sit, and stay. He waits by the door to go outside and rarely has accidents in the house. We’re working on other commands as well. Susan worked with Henry Monday-Friday from 6:00am-4:30pm. This was amazing! She was able to pin-point and correct unwanted behaviors and reinforce positive behaviiors that we would not have been able to do with our work schedules and lack of knowledge. She was also nurturing when Henry went through a fearful stage. He socialized with many different dog breeds as well as cats. Her facility is great for dogs. She has plenty of room for them to play outside as well as inside. Susan’s calm demeanor and extensive knowledge have helped Henry and us tremendously. She provided great feedback and taught all of us, my girls included, how we can help Henry. She taught us how to manage and change our behavior in order for him to be well behaved. My girls loved picking Henry up. They couldn’t wait to learn something new. Susan teaches through positive reinforcement and trains dogs to be amazing companions. I highly recommend A Pawsitive Experience!
I did a bunch of research regarding dog training and care. I came to the decision to go with Susan Ferry. Her Pawsitive page on fab and the Internet was very impressive and knew she loved her job and animals made her happy. I have an Australian Shepard (Koda). Very high strung herding animal. Had some commands down but is super hyper. Started to show behaviors I was not use to seeing. She went into attack mode when she saw another dog from afar, once close she wanted to play. Made it very difficult to take her to various stores or even for a car ride. She started barking at dark and just plain wild. I asked Susan to please help with her, I gave her some background and she worked out a plan in her head and said it can change at anytime but gives her a place to start. She came to my home and evaluated not only Koda but the other 4 dogs I have in the house. She said I have a pack and they all need to be included. She showed the differences in the various treats I give and the ones she recommends. She brought toys and a blanket to learn not to bring every toy out every day to switch it up every few days. Blanket to learn place. My dogs listened and followed her closely around the house. Was amazing. Koda responded a bit to what I learned. Susan suggested I leave her with her at Pawsitive to learn to mirror her dogs and for Susan to see the behaviors she did not exhibit while she was at the house. She kept in contact at all times explaining what she saw and how she was going to work on the different behaviors. She kept me informed on what was needed from me when Koda returned home. Koda returned a completely different dog. Just amazes me the time and energy she took to help Koda and myself. This review and a thank you is just not even close to appreciating the work Susan puts forth for my dog and any other dog that crosses her path.Denise Koda mom
We needed some help with our 7-month old pup Loki (part rot -part lab). Loki loved to bite, was over active, afraid to leave the back yard and when we called him, he ignored us. We were so frustrated! We were fortunate to meet Susan, who helped us understand what Loki was experiencing and why he behaved in certain ways. We put Loki in the PAWS program where Susan had the opportunity to work with him on a daily basis. For 3 weeks Loki was with Susan during the week and with us on the weekend. The first weekend home we noticed an immediate improvement and after the third week we were absolutely thrilled with his behavior. Susan communicated with us continuously while he was with her and gave us the tools we needed to help modify Loki’s behavior. Susan assured us that if we followed her advice and was consistent with our training efforts we would have success. And she was right, we are so enjoying our time with Loki and the house is so less stressful. Thank you Susan for guiding us. The dogs you train and their owners are very fortunate to have crossed your path.
As a new dog-owner, I was a nervous wreck that I was doing everything wrong and the puppy would develop bad habits because of me. I also had major anxiety/guilt leaving the puppy at home while I went to work. Thats where A Pawsitive Experience came in. I trust Susan with my dog more than I trust myself and I have peace of mind knowing that my little guy is in good hands when I cant be around. Hes been going through the PAWS (training) program and is MUCH better at waiting patiently to be let out of the crate rather than barking/jumping like crazy. And being able to keep him there overnight if my husband and I both have work obligations is so helpful. Were big fans!! Highly recommend!
My dog Rico has attended A Pawsitive Experience for three years now and I dont know what life would be like without it. The knowledge and insight that Susan offers is second to none, She really is a translator between the dogs and their owners. She even noticed when Ricos behavior had changed even a little bit and suggested I take him to get a simple check at the vet, if that had not have happened, he may not be here with me today. I highly recommend any and all services offered through A Pawsitive Experience.
It’s not always easy to find good pet care and training and there’s a certain energy that u need to have. Anyone who has animals that are well trained knows that it doesn’t just happen without a lot of hard work and dedication.Susan, works tirelessly to care for her clients animals and her own. She’s dedicated to each pet she cares for and her training techniques help shape your pet to have proper manners in all situations. If your looking for someone to care for your animal while you’re away or working she will make sure your animal is safe and in an environment that’s beneficial to that animal. U may even find that your dog has picked up a few things while in her care for the betterment of there behavior. I so appreciate when people really take there time to ensure that everyone is on the same page and it’s such a bonus to come away with knowledge and information that will help u or someone else down the line. I’ve already learned so much! Thanks Susan!
We drove six hours round trip to leave our little prince with Susan. He joined the Puppy Paws Program and It was a very good decision. Our once shy, fearful little guy came home with new confidence and is at ease with dogs, cats and people. He takes new situations in his stride and really listens very well. He doesnt charge out the door and no longer dives head first into his food. He waits patiently before eating. He has a lot more self control than he did a month ago. He is still a puppy (nearly seven months old) but has learned so much. A Pawsitive Experience has been a very positive experience for us and our happy boy!!
Susan has worked on two dogs for me- a 2+ year old Great Pyr cross who had a troubled beginning, and (when she worked on her) a 10 week old Border Collie puppy. The Great Pyr cross went from a scared, not confident and fear agressive mess to a dog I trusted with my life and my family. He had a good life with us, and it was all thanks to Susan. Our Border Collie puppy... WOW! Shes now 15 months old and has just passed her AKC Canine Good Citizen test with flying colors. Every BIT of that is due to Susans foundation. While our BC is ALL Border Collie, almost to a person we are told she is the calmest, most confident and attuned puppy theyve seen- and people are hugely surprised to find out shes a Border Collie.I recommend Susan and her behavioral work. She can put a great foundation on a puppy and help a troubled young-adult dog- AND make sure that the owners are prepared to continue with the positive, sorry PAWSITIVE, experience!
We recently started our two adult dogs in daycare here twice a week. They had never had the opportunity to socialize with other dogs, and we were a bit nervous as to how they would respond. Susan introduced them slowly to the rest of the gang, and it went very smoothly. My guys love going to school now and actually follow me around every morning to find out if they get to go and be with their friends. They have so much fun, and come home tired and happy. Our guys will actually be staying with Susan for a week while we go on vacation, and it will be such a blessing to not have to worry about where they are and what they are doing when were gone. In fact, I fully expect to return and find them better behaved than when we left!
I was looking for a place where my rescue, Ms Pooh would be comfortable and safe, not just a place where she would be in a confined area or kept in a crate or kennel. A friend recommended Susan Ferry at A Pawsitive Experience. I was not disappointed. Pooh has been going there for about 4 years, daycare and over night when I have to travel. Never a worry. The best. Susan is always willing to help. Not your typical daycare or kennel. Very hands on.
So, where do I start. After losing my Molly, a 13 yr old lap dog, my husband wanted to get a Boxer. At first I thought that would be cool especially when we picked up this small bundle of joy and named her Ava. Then I came to my senses as we were both newly retired and now with a high energy puppy who I knew would get a bit Bigger than my Molly.I found an angel in disguise, literally, a high energy red head who knew absolutely everything about dogs of every kind. Our first few days at puppy school were crazy as Ava couldnt get along with other dogs and of coarse didnt listen. After a few days, Susan had Ava eating out the palm of her hand and roaming around the back yard with every bread of dog imaginable. Its been a year now, Ava has grown out of her lap dog stage and is still a high energy Boxer, who now listens and sits on command. After having a few problems walking Ava , Susan gave us tips and articles to read that helped immensely. My neighbors come over now tell us how well behaved Ava has become.I highly recommend Susan Ferry to take care of any dog, teach the owners especially , how to be a dog owner, and teach dogs how to be a great pet.Mary Gugliuzza
We wanted a place where our dog Ruby would be able to attend daycare and possibly boarding if needed. Also wanted a place that was safe and a person who truly cares about the well being of our dog. We are never worried when we drop off our dog to daycare. Susan does an excellent job caring for our basset hound. So happy we found her. Rubu has adjusted so well to this establishment.
This is not your average dog daycare/ training business it is so much more! My puppy is enrolled in the paws program and the difference in his behavior and overall spirit was almost immediate.Sue is very talented at what she does and has taught myself and Tahoe so much already.I am very thankful I found this place, Tahoe has been having so much fun playing with all of his new friends along with learning so much from Sue.
I have been bringing my dog Rogan to A Pawsitive Experience for several months now and I have seen a tremendous improvement in his behavior. I work a 9-5 job and am not able to take care of my puppy throughout the day, due to how far away from home I work. When I leave Rogan for the day at A Pawsitive Experience, I am confident that he will get the attention and discipline that he needs. Rogan was enrolled in the puppy program and was able to interact with other dogs his age and/or size. Not only did he get much needed exposure to other dogs, he also got used to being around cats (several cats call A Pawsitive Experience their home). Susan, the owner and trainer at A Pawsitive Experience, is very thorough and made sure that I understood the training process.I would highly recommend A Pawsitive Experience to my friends, family and anyone reading this review.
RATINGS & REVIEWS (1)Janet G08/29/2017 This place is perfect! Wonderful outdoor space with lots to keep your dog interested and Susan is amazing with the dogs. She observes them before putting them in with others to make sure they are a good fit and goes by personality and behavior of dog rather than size. She has spent years doing this and gets into the head of each dog to match them with the environment and dog-buddies that suits the best. She is more of an animal behavioralist and has a keen eye trained to what upsets or sets off each dog. It is amazing to see. So many happy and stress-free dogs, no bullying, no intimidation, just lots of happy kids playing together. If you just want your dog out of your space while you are gone for the day feel free to leave them at any daycare, but if you want your furry friend loved and cared for in a place they are happy to go to, dont hesitate--bring them to Susan Ferry at Positive Experience. I love my babies and wont take them anyplace else. You and your dogs will love it--it is indeed a happy and pawsitive experience!
I have been bringing my golden doodle for class and happy hour. Rudy had problems with barking a lot due to anxiety and jumping. Susan has really helped me to understand his behavior and he has gotten a lot better since coming here. Rudy and I look forward to happy hour . He cant wait to get out of the car, It has really helped him get used to other dogs
To say Susan goes above and beyond for her clients and dogs is an understatement! I was nervous about brining a puppy into our family with our 2 small children. She has so many helpful resources and is always their if I have questions. We are also hoping Havoc will become a service dog for my husband which brings a whole other demension to our experience. She is so knowledgeable about this too! It’s been great having her to lean on. Havocs behavior as a 13 week old puppy is Amazing!!! He is involved in the PAWS program. He doesn’t jump, waits to go through the door until you tell him, plays wonderful with other dogs and our kids, and is happy and content in his cage. The list goes on. His foundation that is being built is so strong. Thank you Pawsitive Experience for everything you’ve done in just this short time.
Susan turned my relationship with our new 5 year old Sheltie around. When we bought her home she was shy and fearful and would not come near me. After working with Susan we now have a loveable and loving dog. Thank you.
Susan runs a very caring dog day care. She has already helped with my cavaliers jumping up issues. I will be using her for sure for boarding when we go on vacation.
I have been taking my dog to Pawsitive Experience for 13 years and I wouldnt trust anyone else to look after her. It is like her second home. She runs up to the door when I take her there. It is a great experience and has been wonderful. Thank you so much!!!
I would absolutely highly recommend this place. Our first dog came here from puppy till she was an old lady. I have boarded my current dog here as well. I 100% trust the owner more than any other place I have ever come across.
Had my 2 golden doodles boarded with Pawsitive Experience for one week. I was so pleased, Susan posted videos and they were playing and tails always wagging. She would text updates so I was at ease. I took them by a few days later to drop off something and they were so excited to see her. Thanks for making my vacation worry free.
I am very impressed with Susan at Pawsitive Experience.I brought my 5 month old Lab Grace there to her Lodge and Learn program. Susan has gone above and beyond not only to teach Grace, but also to teach me . I have had dogs all my life but my last litter mates are 12 years old and I have forgotten what it’s like to have a puppy. I was getting frustrated with potty training and crate training. Susan has been available to answer all of my questions as well as encouraging me. Grace always has a wagging tail as do the other dogs I see. I couldn’t have picked a better caregiver for my new family member. Susan had also schooled me on which food, as well as leash, collar and tag is best for Gracie. Please don’t hesitate to put your dog in her care. She is truly a special lady.
I first started going to Sue at a pawsitive experience about a year an a half ago, when I adopted my second rescue dog, Sparky. He was getting the basics at home, but was extremely shy and uncomfortable about all people, and I felt that taking him to some place so help him socialize and become comfortable with other people would help him tremendously, and I was right, but it also gave me a great opportunity to bond with him & build a great relationship. I didnt realize how important it was and how much I needed to have him in class for my sake & also for my healing, as I had just lost my first rescue dog about a month before, along with 3 family members. Sue could sense that something was bothering me and offered a friendly ear. Because of her assistance Sparky is a completely different dog than when I first picked him up; he is outgoing, friendly, and him and I have a great relationship. People that met him when I first got him, and see him now, cant believe how much he has grown and blossomed. So when I noticed my third rescue, Dottie, who I got in Sept of last year, was having some issues being around other dogs, naturally I called Sue. Dottie is now getting along much better with all the dogs she meets at Sues place. They boarded with Sue for a long weekend recently, and they did beautifully! They even got along with her cat! (which they never do at home). I cant thank her enough for the help that she has given me and my dogs! She offers a wide variety of different classes and can suit pretty much anyone needs. I would definitely consider calling Sue for any training or boarding needs. She is knowledgeable, experienced, and willing to help you get any information, extra training, or anything else you need, which can further assist you and your pet(s).
Susan has an understanding of dogs and dog behavior that I have never seen before. My husband and I took our puppy there for training and had a wonderful experience. Susan works as a translator between the dogs and humans, while teaching you how to read their language and behavior as well in order to best communicate and bond with your dog. I will admit that at first I was a little put-off when she told me that my puppy wasnt bonded to me. She followed me around all the time - of course we were bonded - or at least I thought so. However, over the next two months working with Susan, I realized what a true bond really was, and achieved that with my dog. I highly recommend Susans training program and would definitely go back to her for training and boarding.
We brought our 3 month old puppy Oakley, to Susan for training and daycare. Susan did a great job of getting Oakley socialized, trained and teaching us how to understand why Oakley responded the way she does and so much more valuable training for both Oakley and us, to make us all a happy family. We have more to learn but I am so happy with the things I learned from Susan at Pawsitve. One of the best parts is that the dogs are in her home so they get the training in a home setting. She understands what the dogs need and which dogs need to be together and which dogs would do better away from each other. I feel her way of training made a difference when we came home eveyday.
Weve been bringing our dog to Susan for the last 4 years, since he was a puppy, and wouldnt consider taking him anywhere else for daycare or boarding. For one thing, the facilities and grounds are more like a home than a kennel. Theres a lot of open space for the dogs to play, not to mention a toddler-size swimming pool for the dog days of summer. Every day that we take him there, our dog cant wait to get out of the car, he enjoys it that much.Susan has always been so caring and thoughtful with him, so we know hes in good hands and dont have any worries about him while were out of town. Susan has an in-depth, instinctive knowledge of what makes dogs tick, as well as how to keep them healthy, and shes always ready with helpful advice and suggestions. Whenever we have any questions or issues with behavior, shes our go-to authority.
In February my girlfriend and I purchased two 8 week old Border Colley mix litter mate puppies. We thought if we spent a lot of time with them and tried to train them ourselves we could groom them to be good obedient dogs, but the more we tried the more it seemed like we were going back words. Finally we decided to get some professional help, at first we were looking for a dog training class we could take them to and try to work with them that way. While searching online we ran across the Pawsitive Experience website and read some of the reviews and decided to try some private lessons at our own house instead of driving the dogs around and trying to train them in an atmosphere with a bunch of other people and dogs. We contacted Susan and set up an appointment to meet at our house and get started. After the 2nd meeting she offered to take the male puppy back to her place and work with him at her house around other people and dogs and try to rid him of some of his aggressive behavior. After the 1st week we could already see an improvement and we decided to have both dogs go for P.A.W.s program. After just 4 weeks the dogs are much calmer and obedient around other people and dogs and seem eager to learn and please us. Its hard to believe that two 5 month old puppies could mature that much in 4 weeks but they have. Susan is a true professional and very helpful by suggesting different products and techniques that may help along with the training by sending links for us to review. She truly cares about the dogs and her clients. Its been a Pawsitive Experience.
Susan has a gift with dogs. Whether its a new puppy, behavior issues, socialization, or daycare, this is an amazing place. We have had our new border collie with Susan for the past few weeks and couldnt be more pleased with the progress she has made. A Pawsitive Experience and Susan Ferry are a win win situation for dogs and owners alike.
Susan is my favorite person to bring my pup! I brought my alaskan malamute Lupo to her for her P.A.W.S program when he was about 4 months old. She has helped tremendously with training and is always there to provide more help and advice when I need it. Lupo loves going to daycare on a weekly basis. When he is at daycare I know that good behavior is being continuously rewarded which is very important to me as well! I know that no one would treat Lupo with as much love and care as Susan does! I would recommend Pawsitive Experience to any one!
