Mountainside K9 Dog Training

I’ve reached out to this business twice now with no response back. I reached out this past Summer because I thought it would be good for my dog and I to do a class together and then again just recently.Edit: I wanted to make an edit just in case anyone seen my review already. Mountainside K9 Training apparently did email me the first time I reached out to them and I missed it. They also have been closed for the holidays. They did kindly reach out to me to show me where they did respond the first time and to share with me that they were closed.I don’t know how the services are but for them reaching out to me, I wanted to upgrade the rating of my review.

Michaela and her crew at mountainside K9 are literally the best! She originally helped me with my dogs reactivity but also educated me about my dogs breed and what to expect. Great prices, great group classes and activities. I will always recommend her to anyone I know with a dog.

Have taken private lessons with Michaela and just started group classes last week...my Cairn Terrier, Harley James, is THRIVING! Best decision Ive made for my boy! 🐾💙

I am working with Mountainside K9 with my newest puppy starting at 4 months old. I worked with them my older dogs in private sessions and wanted to be proactive with my energetic herding puppy. We are both learning and growing so much with the guidance we receive at our weekly sessions. Highly recommend!

Mountainside K9 and Michaela have helped me to have a better relationship with my dog. She is extremely helpful with problems that have come up with Nyx. Currently our crate anxiety is getting so much better and we are looking forward to our next appointment. The private lessons offer great 1:1 time to go over issues and what to work on next. It gives us the ability to watch Michaela and understand what the next thing to work on is and to do it with Nyx and see if we are doing it right. She gives great feedback and is great to work with. I highly recommend.

I went to Michaela for some assistance in polishing Reeses obedience skills for competition, and in between contacting her initially and my lesson Reese developed a sudden aggression issue. When I reached out about changing the lesson topic, Michaela was super flexible! We ended up brainstorming ideas and still managed to go over some obedience stuff, which ended up serving me well at a trial! She is a balanced trainer and knows her tools well, and she works great no matter what your current level of experience is with handling dogs. She was a lot of help in expanding my ability to use the ecollar effectively, and its ended up being such a valuable communication tool now between my dogs and I (attached photos of them below practicing stays in a store!)

When we got Knox, he was very shy and would always pull on walks. After just a few classes, Knox was starting to become a whole new dog. I would recommend Mountainside K9 to everyone. The training has allowed us to bring Knox to many places that we wouldn’t dare bring home before. We can now walk around town without a leash and don’t have to worry about him running away. If you need some extra help, the basic class alone does wonders.

Mountainside K9 has been such a blessing for me and my dogs. I first reached out when my young male Rottweiler was showing signs of resource guarding. Michaela was able to guide me on how to handle this issue safely and prevent my dog from getting any worse. After just a few weeks my dog had improved a lot, he is currently doing very well. Im extremely grateful 🖤🤎.I have attended group classes , private obedience, private scent work, and private rally . It has been a blast and Ive learned a ton! I look forward to learning more from Mountainside K9 ( Michaela) within the next several years ! We are very lucky to have a trainer like her in the north country!

Michaela is amazing. I wasnt sure I was going to be able to handle my heeler but with help from Mountainside K9 she turned into a more manageable dog. I continue to use the tools and lessons I learned from Michaela as we move into participating in dog sports. Thank you so much Mountainside K9!

Thank you so much for all your help!Update: My pup had an allergic reaction to his flea medication while he was with Mk9, they rushed him to the vet and saved his life. Im so glad he was with someone responsible and knowledgeable when the worst happened. 3 months later, he is so obedient, calm and eager to please. She came to our home and even worked with him in the snow. He was one stubborn dog, now hes a calm and well behaved companion.

Michaela is one of the better trainers in the area. I will travel to train with her as no one else can come close to her when it comes to training. Would always trust her with my dogs and value her expertise and opinion.

My 10 month old Golden Retriever, Gunnar, has gone through basic and intermediate training. We have also done a few private lessons. Michaela is extremely knowledgeable and patient not only with Gunnar but with me! We are excited to continue our training with Mountainside K9!

Ivy and I started lessons after time to decompress from a byb/shelter situation. We learned how to channel that puppy energy, walk nicely on leash, and basic manners. Were now practicing off leash recall and place in a kayak. Looking forward to intermediate classes!

We took basic obedience last fall with our corgi. Even though he had a decent grasp already of several things we worked on, we still learned so much and really strengthened his impulse control and confidence. I would recommend them to anyone looking for a dog trainer!

I’ve tried numerous trainers and no one could help me with reactive dog until we found Mountainside K9. Within a few lessons i saw major improvement with my dog. I couldn’t recommend mountainside k9 enough.

I have never personally had lessons with Mountainside K9! But I know the owner personally, and I’ve seen many dogs taught off her work! She is truly amazing

I can not say enough about the help I received with my English Mastiff. At 2 years old, we were able to “teach an old dog new tricks” that allow my children to walk him and maintain control with an animal 3x their size. Incredible place, awesome and very knowledgeable owner/trainer.

Michaela is amazing at what she does. My dog is aggressive and did not listen at all. She was willing to come to my home and work with us knowing his past. She educated us and helped us work through some of my dogs issues. Without her, my dog would still be running our house hold. He still has more work to do, but that is going to be where I have to continually work with him. I can now take him on walks with more ease, I can have him go to place and not worry about him stealing food from our children while we eat, he will stay in place u till he is told to break. I can get a muzzle on his without him trying to bite me. I can’t thank her enough!

From my first contact with Michaela she has been professional, informative, responsive to questions and above all patient- with not just Shorty, but us as well. When the first plan didn’t work she told us what to try next. She provided us with the tools and knowledge to have a happy, well behaved dog that we can take places with us. We are beyond thankful for Michaela and will continue to use Mountains K9 for any future dogs we have.

Mountainside K-9 was a game changer for both our dog and ourselves! Michaela is so great to work with and she is able to hone in on exactly what your dog needs to work on! Thanks to her work with our dog in 2 group classes we are able to bring our dog anywhere and everywhere knowing that we can anticipate good behavior and listening.

The BEST trainer. She uses a mixture of reward and consequence techniques. She adapts her techniques so each dog and problem. She educated the dog and the human so that they can be the best team possible. I’ve taken both private and group sessions with Michaela and because of her my Aussie has gained confidence after a tragedy that I thought forever altered his life. He is more accepting of new people and more accepting of men in general. He still has moments where he turns to me for reassurance but he has come so far. I am truly amazed and grateful for his strides. I owe it all to Mountainside K9 for helping me be a better handler. Totally recommend.

I inquired about training with them and after finding out the price was higher then I could afford. They replied to my email shaming me for not wanting to pay their $80.00 an hour price. Saying that if a trainer charges less then their bad trainers. Just because I can’t afford the fancy price doesn’t mean I’m going to settle for a bad trainer! There are PLENTY of trainers who charge less and give amazing quality!! In the end it’s not the trainer that counts but YOU that puts in the work with your dog. SHAME ON YOU MOUNTAINSIDE

10/10 recommend Mountainside K9! Oaken and I look forward to every class. He has learned so much and couldn’t be happier with his progress!

Scheduling online has made this process so easy. They have been very helpful with helping me to decide which one of my dogs I should start with first. I am so excited for class!

Based on recommendations from colleagues and friends, and watching what training was accomplished through videos, it became clear that we needed to hire Michaela! She was a great communicator, responded quickly, and was able to get us scheduled right away!

Mountainside K9 made the challenging puppy phase manageable. We had not had a dog in years, and with Michaela’s instructions and tips we were able to navigate the challenges of a new puppy much easier. We started with in house lessons at 10 weeks, and then group classes at 6 months. We have been able to walk off leash with proper recall since 6 months old, get rid of the crate at 8 months, and now we have our “old man dog” at a year and a half. Thank you Mountainside K9!
