My family and I had an amazing experience dog sledding with Kate. It was fun and educational, and it felt magical dog sledding while it was snowing. My two daughters (6 and 7 years old) had a blast and couldnt stop talking about it. The dogs are very friendly. My daughters are usually hesitant around dogs, but had no trouble approaching and petting Kates dogs. Highly recommended and wouldnt hesitate to do it again.

Kate is an outstanding dog trainer with exstensive knowledge and able to quickly diagnose issues and anticipate upcoming ones. We brought our 8 month old German Shepard Yoshi to her for basic obedience training and she took him from an absolute handful to a very well mannered well behaved pup who takes my commands perfectly.

My husband and I adopted our Rolo (staffy bull terrier) a year before we met Kate. Rolo was known to resource guard and be aggressive with our Black Lab and my husband. We did not believe in giving up on our dog. We reached out to Kate and she agreed to take him for training. A year later since Rolo completed training, he continues to be a safe, well mannered dog who has not had any aggressive or resource guarding behaviors since he came home from Kate. Kate was thorough and explicit with directions, training and follow up. We are lucky to be able to still reach out to her if we need anything for Rolo. If it wasnt for her guidance, love and trust in Rolo and us, I truly believe he would not be alive today! Thank you so much Kate! We are forever grateful!

Kate is amazing dog trainer! She worked with me and Abbi a few years ago. Now abbi can co-exist with my other animals in harmony. Abbi can go OFF leash in parks and I dont have to worry about her running off. The best part though is that abbi hasnt bitten anyone in my family in over a year or more. Thanks to all of the work that we both put in! Thank you Kate ❤️

Our mini goldendoodle went to Run by Dogs training with Kate and he learned so much! He had some problems with resource guarding, and taking things that weren’t his. At training he learned basic obedience as well how to make good choices at home. Six months later and he is such a great family dog! He doesn’t pull on walks, comes when he’s called outside and walks right by that dirty sock that a child dropped in the house without a second thought. Kate was very explicit with her training and taught us how to teach the dog. She followed up regularly once our dog returned home to us to make sure he was behaving according to plan. Training is a big commitment for the entire family but well worth it in the end!

Kate was an absolute miracle worker with my dog Mr. Artemis. He went from being a furry Velociraptor, with alligator tendencies, to a well behaved dog. Kate was a life saver, who saved my family and possibly my dog from injury. Her love for dogs is immeasurable add I highly recommend her for any challenging pup.

Kate worked with my dog Artemis who, at the time of private training enrollment, had a head space of knocking down people and furiously pulling on leashes. Kate gave me the tools and training I needed that allowed the true dog to shine. Artemis is the all American dog, my adventure boy. He is fully incorporated into our family because of Kate. 10 shining stars for Run By Dogs!

Kate at Run By Dogs saved my dogs life. If you read no further, know that. If my dog didnt board-and-train with Kate, I know he would have hurt someone else and gotten into deep trouble. Now Ive got a happy, calm, and loving dog who brings me joy every day. Before my dog went to Kate for board-and-train, we did months of classic obedience training. He was great most of the time, but would violently lash out if he was uncomfortable. Barking, writhing, biting. Certain situations like going to the vet, bathing, and nail trims were impossible to manage without dog medication.Kate taught my dog how to help himself. She gave him the confidence he needed to navigate daily life and stressful situations, and showed him how to be an easygoing member of the family who can be included in social gatherings and errands.Kate involved me in the training in a way that inspired confidence in handling my dog. During periodic visits to her facility, Kate helped me reframe and rebuild the relationship. I cant thank her enough for her amazing work.It is clear to me that Kate pours her soul into every case. She loves the animals she works with, and dedicates herself to helping dogs that less tenacious people would just discard. We couldnt be happier having our dog back in our home, and its all because of Run By Dogs.

I recently brought my dog Luna to Kate at run by Dogs. I was at the end of my rope and fearful that she was going to bite someone. We had done training at a few different places but nothing helped her or me, the trainers had renamed her Lunatic--the name fit her! I thought my last choice was having her euthanized which broke my heart! One of my friends recommended Run By Dogs. Kate not only helped reset Luna, she worked with me and my family to have a relationship with Luna. How to communicate with her. I had the prong collar, which was encouraged by my other trainers, and the e collar which also was recommended by another trainer, but no one wanted to take the time to show me how to train her with it, so we failed again. But mostly people would say she needs a job but no one would go beyond that. We tried Rally she did ok, but she was not a fan of some of the other dogs or people, so I had to keep her distracted for fear she would bite someone. Kate took Luna and taught her how to trust her handlers and taught me how to work with Luna. And it isnt one and done, she has been and is still helping us almost 6 months later, Being our cheerleader or problem solver, she continues to take the time to make sure Luna is still in the right head space! My dog is now a part of our family, not living in her kennel or locked in the kitchen away from everyone which I never thought would happen! Luna is better with meeting new people but we still use the tools as she needs them to feel comfortable. I hope no one has to ever make the decision to euthanize their dog for behaviors when there is someone like Kate who will help retrain their dog to be better! I am thankful for her! We have been back for check ins and Luna was never afraid of Kate or nervous to be around her.

Kate was instrumental in resetting my pups relationship to me, my husband, and our cats. Our dog was completely unmanageable when we first met Kate, and after boarding our pup with her followed by months of work, I have a new best friend. 🐾 When before my dog would have blew me off and done whatever she wants, now she has near perfect recall, never jumps, is respectful of our cats, and listens when I tell her No. These things are so huge! Training will always be a work in progress (something Kate taught me!) but we are doing great thanks to her guidance. She really trained me just as much -if not more- than she trained my dog. Shes a supremely clear communicator to both me and my dog. On top of it all, she really does respond when I have follow-up questions months, even YEARS later. We are so lucky to have found her!

I am confident that training with Kate is the single best decision Ive made in my years of dog ownership and I recommend Run by Dogs to every dog owner, especially those struggling with behavior issues. If you think your dog is beyond help, call Kate. We are so happy we did!On top of her wealth of experience and expertise, Kates passion for dogs and work ethic is obvious. I knew our beloved pet would be safe here as soon as I met Kate and saw the well maintained facility and property. Our dogs transformational board and train experience is one of many cases that prove the level of excellence offered at Run by Dogs. Our lovable hound mutt Banjo Pancakes, who we adopted at 8 weeks old, began using aggression from a young age to tell us no and avoid uncomfortable situations such as foot handling, giving up stolen items, and muzzling. Our older dog had success with reward based training, so we used treats and praise to try to build a positive association with the nail clippers and muzzle. Despite months of consistent positive reinforcement training I couldnt convince him to keep his nose in the muzzle and also allow me to secure the strap, or let me hold the nail clipper to his paw with the intention to cut his nail, without him running away or lashing out. These techniques failed and frustrated him. As he grew in his first year, so did his temper and willingness to use aggression to get his way. When we brought Banjo in for training, we were unable to muzzle him safely and relied on heavy sedatives and multiple vet techs to trim his nails. Just a few weeks later we were muzzling him and trimming his nails ourselves - no drugs, no fighting, just a calm dog trusting the process. We still have a lot of work ahead of us, but Kate has been there for us every step of the way as we teach Banjo to continue his good behaviors at home. Our lives are forever changed by all that weve learned and we look forward to a long life full of adventures with our dog!

Kate is a professional who cares deeply about the dogs that she trains, no matter what challenge they are facing. Thats the reality of the world for someone like Kate, who works with the hard cases who are headed for euthanasia if they are not able to be trained to be safe with their families.Anyone can teach a Golden Retriever puppy to sit, heel and stay. You need a special love and talent to be able to deal with dogs who have been abused, neglected or just poorly raised. Kate has that kind of special love and talent!

In August 2021, my husband and I adopted a rescue dog. We have had other pets, this was no exception. We have a large, fenced in yard and a lot of love to share. The dog we adopted was much more pit than lab, though the shelter said he was a lab mix. Our dog, Moonie, was/is quite the lover but his behavior was horrible, sometimes worrisome. He came with plenty of baggage of his own.I reached out to Kate for advice. We are states away, so she called me that evening. Kate and I spent a couple of hours on the phone talking, going over techniques and she was teaching me skills. Were it not for Kates advice, training and teachings, I am 100% confident Moonie could not have stayed here at home. Im also confident that hed have never survived if back in a shelter. Thank you, Kate Walrath/Run by Dogs.

My girlfriend and I had been dealing with our dog’s anxiety since we had adopted him. He had serious anxiety and leash aggression. He would tear apart kennels and we would avoid walking him in public, since it was too much to handle. We had hired a trainer previously, but her methods were, for lack of a better term, stupid an ineffectual. About a year later we came to Kate. Kate clearly loves working with her animals and was very patient with our dog (and us) during our training. Her methods are direct and effective. She helped give us the tools to work with our animal and we can now all go for stress free walks. Highly recommend.

It’s been one year since my anxious and aggressive dog was brought to Kate and the transformation is truly amazing. We needed a board and train facility because I’d used 3 trainers before and they all confused me and contradicted each other and left me not knowing what to do when they weren’t there. He had deeply ingrained behaviors that he needed to be broken out of. Some of these behaviors he already had when I adopted him but I made them worse by not being the leader he needed me to be. It’s been a year of hard work for me, too, but Kate trained ME and my dog and has been there every time I’ve had a question. I know some people might not agree with the use of E-collars or prong collars but Kate is amazing at figuring out what is needed and problem-solving; my dog never needed the prong collar but I truly believe it was Kate’s knowledge and the E-collar that saved him, like a drug addict needs to hit rock bottom and go through withdrawal to get out of it. She constantly modified her techniques and thought of new ways to communicate with him since he’s deaf. He no longer makes chuffing sounds or fears approaching people, hasn’t tried to nip or bite anyone, he lets strangers pet him and even exposes his belly, his ears finally flop and he no longer has nightmares. He’s no longer anxious, just a happy well-behaved dog. The transformation has been amazing and worth the effort and money. I also used the E-collar to train him to stay in our yard so that saved me the cost of an invisible fence. Thank you, Kate, for denying the many people that advised he be euthanized, you truly saved his life and made it better.

Kate is AMAZING and a miracle worker. I travelled a long way with my corgi who had a born fear of people and was turning aggressive. Run by Dogs found a way to make it so that I would no longer fear having to put my baby down! She went from biting to just laying down in situations where shes nervous. She did this all without turning my girl into a zombie. My baby is now more comfortable and not always afraid and thats still WHILE were in the middle of rehabilitating / training her!

Run by dogs is an incredible experience. You notice the dogs are cared for very well. You get to meet dogs and see each one’s personality. Everyone is so kind and so willing to share their knowledge and positivity with you. For sure come here if you can. The one and only reason that I didn’t give a five star review is because we took a 50 minute drive to Run By Dogs and Dylan said there aren’t bathrooms for use. With the amount of $ being charged for the experience with dogs there should be bathroom use for customers.
