Went into the hospital the other day to pick up my dogs prescription and there was a dog inside the hospital. They did not stop yapping and I couldn’t hear the receptionist. She asked me if I want to go outside while I wasn’t the problem at all they called the next day and asked me if I did not want to return to the hospital, if anything, I think the little yapping dog should’ve been asked to step outside and wait . The receptionist sort of tossed the medicine up on the counter with the receipt and never said a word. This is one place I was never asked to come back to, and I have absolutely no desire to go back there as well

Great people , truly caring and always helpful.Only used them for a little over three years since I moved to this area , but from Day one to the last day we had to put our Senior Dog Down . They where nothing short of exceptional. Over the years They helped our dog with a variety of problems that senior dogs face , and put her on a great diet that definitely helped her lifespan. Even when they didn’t fell comfortable doing a procedure.They recommended us to an animal surgeon that removed her cancer from one digit on her paw and pro longed her Life probably the extra 2 years . (That doctor was/is also amazing )Even in the hardest part of of putting her Down . They made it as comfortable as possible for us and more importantly Our Girl Jingle . Thank you everyone , we’re Forever grateful - The Murphys

Been bringing my babies here for years. My Bella Has epilepsy, most recent Cyrus has congestive heart failure. Our little Putt-putt and Oliver were Born there!! Cant say enough about the loving , caring vets, techs. Staff!!!!

Always takes care of my pets w excellent care! Will always bring my pets here they are the best. This is Maxx he hates the doctor visits but they always have good solutions to help him and provide a safe environment for everyone 👍

My beautiful beloved cat Sam lost his life in a dental procedure here a few days ago on 12/5/2022. He was 10 years old. I should never have allowed it and will pay the price of dealing with this place for the rest of my life. It cost me my world. It turned out he had some underlying issues in his lungs that would have been identified by a preop x-ray. I was told by the vet who treated Sam that she offered an x-ray to my husband and son who were there with him who were told it was optional, so he declined unless they thought was absolutely necessary. That was a tragic mistake, but I told the vet that in an older cat who was having symptoms, why wouldnt this be mandatory to make sure as much as possible he was safe for that surgery. My precious, precious baby could have been here right now as the vet said they did this x-ray after he went into respiratory distress and passed, which according to the vet revealed underlying problems in his lungs, which she admitted would have prevented the surgery from moving forward that day if an x-ray had been done. I feel this was a tragic mistake on their part. My beloved cat was 10 years old and the highest level of precaution for his fitness for this procedure should have been undertaken in my opinion. Though she thought Sam had serious underlying concerns in his lungs identified by the x-ray after the procedure, I told her we could have had the chance to find out what was going on and what could have been done to treat. I was also away while this was procedure was done and will never get the chance to see my beloved cat Sam again. He was my only remaining fur baby after losing our beloved 15 year old dog Luna at the end of July and my beloved 14 year old cat Sookie in March, both devastating losses. Now, weve lost everything. I told the vet please spare anyone else this unbearable heartache by re-looking at their precautions for doing risky surgical procedures especially on older or vulnerable animals. My Sam would be here right now if the highest level of precautions had been undertaken. As said, we we are devastated and will pay for this tragedy for the rest of our lives. I will never forgive myself for allowing this procedure to take place and especially here. Make sure you do a lot of research and screening before ever allowing your pets to undergo risks like my precious baby did.

Caring compassionate. Handled end of life for my best friend with dignity. My dog will be sorely missed but these professionals helped me at a difficult time and i will always be greatful!

I had to put my dog down after 18 years with her. Floyd harbor was amazing from the time i called to make an appointment to the time of the procedure. They really were amazing! They were so sweet and gentle with my baby. They just really had so much compassion and understanding. They let me stay as long as i needed to say goodbye. They even wrapped her amazing! I would recommend anyone to them. Thank you for being so great to us! Also, thank you for doing such a wonderful job on her paw print 🐾 it came out so beautifully💕

Ive been coming here for almost 3 years and the level of quality declining is noticable. Usually we would wait 5 or 10 minutes to be taken to a room past our time when the appointment would start. Today over 40 minutes and no one attended. Emergencies are expected and understandable but the lack of notice from any member of staff is abhorrent. I had to discover this delay from another client asking for the status of their pet. Avoid the additional stress on your pet and yourself by looking for another Veterinarian

I bought 2 puppies 🐶 and I had used this veterinarian prior when I had to put my last dog down, so I naturally went to her for my new puppies 🐶. The staff are friendly and pleasant and very loving on my puppies.

Place literally doesn’t care for your animals. Brought my dog here to get his nails cut and annul glands squeezed, dog came home with an infection in his butt & this place won’t allow him back because they thought I was a threat for asking for his medical records to switch vets. He’s been having muscle spasms, timid,Won’t eat, won’t sleep, won’t leave my side constantly crying since he’s left this place. They made us sedate my dog cause they can’t “ control “ him. And hasn’t been the same since. 5 days later. Complete change In my poor dog. & they won’t help. Sad story.

Ive been taking my dogs here for many years now and I have no complaints. They are always friendly and they explain everything to you . And my dogs are happy !!

Dr. Goldstein is so caring and takes the time to answer every question I have and follow up with my dog all the time. My dog has been sick and they always get him in for an appointment when we have any concerns. They truly care about the animals. They will definitely not overcharge you and will in fact do whatever they can to get you the most out of what you pay for. I would not want to bring my baby anywhere else!

Brought my cat in for urgent visit as a overnight clinic charged me 700 for no answers and no help. Staff were very compassionate and understanding. Vet was amazing. Had to put my best friend of 14 years down which was heartbreaking but at least I had answers and closure. Cant thank them enough and I wish all were like them where they are in it for the care of animals rather than money. Definitely will be recommending to friends and family. Thank you to the staff, from Adam and midnight. RIP.

I have been using this office for a few years now and have been mostly satisfied with our visits though can be costly. I very recently called to ask them if I can purchase a fleal and tick oral preventative from them. I was told because my pet hasnt been seen in a year he wouldnt need a checkup first. But why.......$$$Maybe? Wow is all I can feel🤷‍♀️

I absolutely love going to this animal hospital. The staff is extremely courteous, friendly and willing to help! The way in which they care for my pup is so refreshing. I know if I ever have any questions or concerns that they are just a phone call away. My pup may not be the easiest of animals to deal with (dont touch his back legs!), but every time we go there for his check ups he is well taken care of. I havent had the pleasure of meeting the new doctors yet, though I can say Dr. Caruana is so knowledgeable and handles my pup as if he were her own!

Took my two pups there the other day. My little guy had eye issues and was bothering him badly. Note he is not easy to work with. They brought him in and he came out a different dog. Wagging and smiling. Started him on his meds and his eyes are so much better. Cant thank enough. 5 Stars!

Mom took our dog there for a routine check up and he came back home limping and unable to put any weight on his right back leg. He’s been crying all night. My mom ended up going back and asking for an explanation ONLY FOR THEM TO DISREGARD HER. Save your time and money and pets health by keep your pets away from this vet!!

I am from Hauppauge & moving so FAR from home was very hard! I have brought my animals to them & theyve been AWESOME! Gentle... Beautiful!!! Loving!! Caring! Professional!! Loyal people! I wanna mention one more thing. We lost our sweet Dudley almost a year ago. We brought him there 1st... And they could only do so much. ( He needed surgery.) Very reasonably priced - which isnt generally an issue or concern for me, but lately weve had a lot of vet visits for any of our 5 animals and those bills rack up. My cat is the worst (basically a demon, just all around mean-spirited), and they still took him, treated him, and allowed another visit 1 week later for followup. Meds worked. Nice staff. Also: theyll see you as a new patient during covid - lead times are long for general checkups and wellness, but if you feel its an emergency, theyll do their best to get you in.

I have been taking my dog here since he was a puppy and he is now 13 years old. They are very caring with him. I have used them to board my dog as well while I was on vacation and not only do they take great care of him but they send you daily pictures and updates on your pet.

Caring and sweet staff! Reasonable pricing and genuine love for animals helps for a satisfying visit. Ive gone to a couple vet hospitals that are dirty and the staff is there for a paycheck so they dont treat your pets with care. Floyd Harbor is the best for your pet.

I am not sure as to what this vets office is trying to prove with the continuous lockdown, but my dad ALMOST NOT BEING ABLE to be with our dog when it was being euthanized was a last straw for me. I cant even begin to express my anger. This office needs to update their lockdown policy, especially for this kind of appointment. This is hard enough on the families. I dont appreciate the treatment

They were going to bput my cousins dog to sleep and said he wasnt going to make it. I took him home against medical advice and hes been great ever since. He just had a checkup at another vet and hes great. Im glad I have experience in the animal medical field and went on my own feelings or hed be dead now.

I called the hospital to set up grooming, I was informed my pet needed two vaccinations to be able to be groomed at facility. I encountered an opportunity where I would receive the vacination at no cost and proceeded that avenue with a licensed board certified Veterinarian. Called Floyd Harbor today to schedule grooming and although fully tested and fully vaccinated with all required shots I was told I must have an office visit first to schedule grooming. I can not understand the reasoning if my pet had today an annual visit, tested negative for heartworm and lyme disease, had all vaccination required by Floyd Harbor and still I have to incur an office visit cost to be seen by groomer. I have to agree with reviews of the office generation unnecessary cost. This is my second pet care for by this office. My previous pet passed away and the service then was handle with much care. I felt it was important to write this review regarding the need for an unnecessary charge of an office visit to be able to have dog groomed at there facility or should I say for my pet to be groomed at his veterinarian place of business. Sad outcome

My family has been taking our animals here for years. Recently married me and my husband started bringing our kitten here when he became really sick from the shelter. Dr. Goldstein is AMAZING! She caught our kittens pneumonia and 3 sets of worms. She was very honest with his need for an ER. She even explained that we could take him home with antibiotics but the outcome wouldnt be great. Thanks to her hes alive right now and getting healthier each day! Even when he was in the ER for a few days she would call to give us lab results and ask how hes been. She treats your fur babies with the same love that we treat them with. Shes literally the sweetest! Even the front desk girls are always so happy and welcoming! They always call you hun or sweetheart. There was a month that i had to come on a weekly basis because our kitten was so sick, and they cut us a break price wise by not charging for the office visit and charging half for the xray..without us even asking! Dr Goldstein always gives him the most thorough check up from head to toe, and she always listens to my concerns. I wouldnt even think of taking my babies anywhere else! Our kitten Alfie is so loved for and looked after here. I highly recommend taking your animals here! you wont regret it!

Helpful and professional staff. Though weve only brought our Corgi there a few times for well visit checkups, everyone remembers him and provides fantastic care for him. This is a great establishment.

I have been going to Dr. Etzel for over ten years. I have been completely satisfied with every aspect of the care and service I received there. She is a very qualified and compassionate doctor. You can tell as soon as se meets your pet that she truly cares about them. She also understands and has compassion for what you are going through with a sick child. Her office is spotless and fresh smelling. I have never met a more qualified and friendly staff anywhere. My own doctors office staff are not as nice as all the people who work for Dr. Etzel. I cant imagine what these people are trying to prove by bad mouthing a very professional and experienced Doctor. We all have lost a pet or as in my case many over the years. It hurts more than I can explain here. Blaming the Doctor is not the way to heal. She does all that is humanly possible to keep our kids healthy but, only God can perform miracles. When the time comes that I must be separated, I know the Doctor has exhausted all possible ways to keep us together and them comfortable. I know the whole office staff feels our pain and they try (and succeed) in making it as painless as possible.Please have no fear bringing you children to Dr. Etzel. She and her staff are far above what you would expect, I have and will continue to recommend her to anyone. Anyone who knows me knows I would not go there if I did not like how my kids were treated

The staff I encountered were pleasant and nice. But when I called and told them what breed of dog I had they were pushing me to get her fixed because of her breed. On the more expensive side.

I am reading that they have staff from grooming school. I would take my dogs there, except;1. I have went to this hosp with my dog and the dr really nickled and dimed me with things i really didnt need. I found out when i had taking my dog to a diffrent vet.2. The dr misdiagnoised my friends cat.3. The dr wasnt a nice person4. Floyd Harbor has a not positive reputation.5. Unless the staff went to the Manhattan grooming school and not B.O.C.E.S. i wouldnt trust it. Due to this vet hospital i found another vet hospital that i absolutley love. My vet tells you the way it is and does not nickle and dime you. I never cared for floyd harbor, but after going i confirmed my feelings. On the positive side because of them i found my new vet that i absolutley love. My vet helped me to find my new dog. She is so helpful, real and down to earth. She really is more for the care of the animal. Therefore, thank you floyd harbor.

Took our cat in to see if it was in a Coma. Rigamortis had occured already because she was limp again. Was taking her to be cremated & didnt want to think wed cremated her still alive. No charge. Very caring people. Thank you Staff. God Bless you all.

Dr. Etzel is awesome and for the first time in ten years, my Pug doesnt mind going to the vets office. Dr. Etzel always spends a few minutes greeting my dog to make him comfortable before she gets down to business.Linda is wonderful when she follows up and its clear that she cares and isnt just making a phone call.My Pug just had surgery, everything went smoothly and the pricing was definitely fair given the procedures performed.I would not hesitate to recommend Dr. Etzel and staff at Floyd Harbor Animal Hospital.- Frank, Jenn and Mugsy

Dr is a killer beware. Stay far away. Just one look and you can see right through her eyes she is evil.Pet died due to over medication .Im not the first, If you love your pet and they are your best friends in life Do Not ,Do not bring them here. Dr. Caruana is amazing with both my dog and my cats. She takes the time to answer all my questions in lanuage I can understand, not scientific babble. My pets are healthy and strong thanks to her great care.

DO NOT bring your pet here!! Absolutely disgusting what they put my wife through to get a health certificate. They treat military family with 0 respect and did services not request or needed and charged 250+ dollars more. After my wife spoke to them and specifically requested a fit to fly health certificate They demanded her mother ( who had our dogs and were sending them to Hawaii for us ) pay for an international health certificate . My wife told them multiple times that we didnt need or want that . We after days of arguing and wasting of my wives and her mothers time gave a refund and proper certs. And the dogs got here just fine . They also told us to speak to a Hawaiin consulate???? This is the intellectual level of the front office staff. We have yet to receive an apology.

I just took my puppy, Roxy to be spayed. Everyone is so pleasant, friendly and nice. The prices are reasonable and they consistently follow up to make sure Roxy is okay.

We have been taking our animals to Floyd Harbor Animal Hospital to be treated by Dr. Etzel and her staff for YEARS. Two weeks ago our outdoor cat became very lethargic and dazed. We brought him to Dr. Etzel after 24 hours of seeing these symptoms. Unfortunately our cat was dying and suffering from a Liver Infection/Liver Failure and needed to stay at the hospital to be monitored. Dr. Etzel was very up front and honest with us and clearly communicated her concerns with us, she was not sure if our cat would make it through the night, however she was giving him fluids and antibiotics and monitoring him. Dr. Etzel PERSONALLY stayed until after midnight along with members of her staff to monitor our cat and other animals being held overnight. She called us every hour or so with updates and let us know when she was leaving the hospital and when she would be back the next morning. Our cat stayed for three nights, one day/night being EASTER. Dr. Etzel not only went into her office on a Sunday (when they are closed), but on EASTER Sunday to check up on our cat and give us updates on his health. Needless to say, Dr. Etzel and her staff went ABOVE AND BEYOND what is expected from any veterninarian. Our cat made a full recovery and went from being in a life threatening state to perfectly back to normal in a matter of days, she SAVED HIS LIFE!! She is undoubtely one of the best out there and we will never bring any of our animals to any one else! Our entire familiy (including 2 dogs and 2 cats) recommend Dr. Etzel and her wonderful, friendly, and accomodating staff to anyone who loves their pet like a family member as we do. There is NO ONE better than her!

Dr Etzel and her staff are a wonderful full service Animal Hospital, we have 5 cats all with different personalities and issues, and the staff and the doctors are our first and only choice, Especially Dr. Etzel you can see the love of animals pour out of her as she examines one of our furry children!!!

Agree with the review about ever since Dr. Etzel retired the focus has become about money at this establishment. After going for an office visit for inoculation shots if a booster shot was required at a later date, Dr. Etzel would administer the shot in the waiting room and waive the office visit fee. Now that she is gone this is against policy. Love my dog and will never think twice about opening my wallet to care for him but theres a different dynamic at this business and Im not happy with it. What I listed is only one thing that concerns me, there are other issues that I dont have time to list.

My family had a dog that lived to 18 and we loved Dr. Etzel BUT ever since Dr. Etzel left the practice this place has became very much about money and not about the animals...My family was told to take my 3 year dog else where when we asked about prices and payments of surgery that would remove a potenially cancerous growing tumor off of my dogs paw. We were told two different prices depending on how long she would be under... how would we be able to pay in full if we had no idea how long the surgery would be?Luckily we found a vet that is currently operating on my dog with a much lower price then floyd harbors ( more than half the amount they wanted) with no questions asked and with the payment split into two... because they care more about the animals than the money !
