Alex is amazing! We have seen such a huge difference in our foster dog after doing a 4 week board & train with Alex. She’s more confident, and she knows her rules & boundaries much better. We are much more confident caring for her. I highly recommend Alex to anyone looking for dog training, no matter your dog’s issue.

Alex, Drew and the crew at River’s Edge are absolutely amazing. I do not trust anyone else with my pups/kids (all 3 of them). They love going to visit “Auntie” Alex, they are treated like family, get tons of exercise and treats! I always receive picture/text updates on them during their staycations. I can go away for 1 night or 10 and feel completely confident that my babies will be taken care of just like home.

One of the best dog boarding kennels in WNY! The owner is phenomenal in her knowledge of canine behavior. I would not want to leave my dogs anywhere else. They have access to large areas to run and play and also have nice temperature controlled space inside. The owner also lives on site and monitors the space 24/7.

I met Alex through another trainer. We recently adopted a 3 year old pitbull, and wanted her to have some manners. We began trying group classes, but unfortunately with her that ended up not being an option with how overstimulated she gets in certain environments. We began working one on one, and have only had two lessons so far. The difference in my dog is very encouraging. We ended up not being able to just train obedience, and needed to work on behavioral and anxiety issues. Alex has been there every step of the way, I can text her about any issues and hear back right away with good advice. Our hope is to get her anxiety and stimulation on leash under control, and eventually do obedience. Id recommend Alex for any of your training needs!EDIT: Sadly, our dog had too many neurological issues, which in turned caused behavioral issues. Alex was there every step of the way, trying any and everything we wanted, even a failed board and train attempt. Zera failed through no fault of Alex, and Alex has been great in being there and giving advice/opinions when warranted. Down the road we plan to rescue again, and will absolutely be returning to Alex for hopefully just puppy and basic obedience! But should I come across a tough case again, I know shed be willing to jump in and help in any way she possibly can. I cant thank Alex enough through all of this, and all she tried to do to help us.

I have an almost two year Shepard who was reactive, anxious, and bad mannered. We did a four week board and train with Alex. I’ve had her back for a little over a week now. Casey is incredible. She walks great on a leash, she no longer barks at every little thing, she plays great with her human sister in the yard now, and above all Casey seems like a happier lady! She’s less anxious and more like just a dog! I’m so happy we made the decision to send her to this facility!

We can’t rave about this place enough. My partner and I were worried about sending our furbaby to boarding, but Alex and her crew are rockstars and put our minds at ease! Our dog Cole is so happy going to and from River and they take such good care of him! Alex is awesome and is a great caretaker and trainer. Bring your furbabies here for boarding and training! :)

I truly can not say enough positive things about Alex and River’s Edge Canine. We brought our 1 year old pitbull, Charlie, in for a three week board and train program. Charlie has his own sort of crazy, stubborn, lazy (and also hyper) personality! Alex worked with Charlie to help him to learn to calm down (something we had a very tough time with) and how to work through his anxiety. He learned some basic obedience skills (which really nothing is basically with Charlie, because he fights it tooth and nail 😂), and how to loose-leash walk! Alex has made herself available for questions and concerns, and offered for us to come back to get a better feel for walking on the leash (it was super snowy!). She really focused on his individual needs, and on his very unique personality. We are so grateful for her expertise, kindness, reliability, and professionalism. Among other trainers we have met with, Alex truly shines above the rest! And our big Charlie is still our sweet, silly, wild pup.. but now with manners! 😉 Thank you Alex!

Alex came highly recommended and I absolutely agree! She provided excellent training and advice for my dog, Zorro, and me. We both looked forward to our weekly sessions. Her patience, humor and expertise definitely contributed to the behavior and confidence of my dog, and helped me understand my dogs signals and triggers. This has led to a wonderful , happy dog!

We had been told there was no hope - Our Buddy is a hard case!! We rescued a bundle of love that came with many issues. We sent him away for training, but he still needed work. Truth is, so did we.Through training and patience Alex has taught us and Buddy how to better deal with all of those issues. He can make good decisions and only wants to make us happy. We never imagined he could be so calm and obedient.For a dog that cannot be around other animals, Alex has been able to give Buddy a best friend in Lola!They enjoy walks in the park together and an occasional free run at the dog park, when no one else is around!If it wasnt for the many long hours, months of dedication (a few tears from mom) and Alexs commitment to Buddy, our baby was facing a very sad outcome.We are forever grateful and will continue to work with Alex. And Lola, of course!If there were 10 stars Alex deserves all of them! She is professional, motivated, caring, knowledgeable and fearless!

Over the last few weeks we’ve had Alex come in and help work on some behaviors with my two rescue dogs. We’ve worked on jumping, barking, nipping, dominance/aggression, leash walking, as well as dog/people reactivity. Alex was so helpful with also teaching me how to interact, correct, and establish my role as a boss not just a friend, which is hard when they are so cute all the time! It’s amazing the difference that I’ve seen. My fiance and I cannot thank Alex enough for all the help, tips and advice! If anyone is dealing with issues with their dogs (young or old!) Alex is amazing! We adopted Sophie from a rescue in March and while incredibly sweet, she came to us with a whole host of issues. Alex was able to help us help Sophie. She is patient and understanding with a wonderful sense of humor.

We just wrapped up a several weeks of training with Alex and we had a fantastic experience. She is knowledgeable, skilled, and passionate about her work. She is very friendly, not judgmental at all. Alex is amazing! She is so knowledgeable and helpful. She makes training classes not only fun for your pup but enjoyable to be at. She’s attentive with all the dogs and really cares. She focuses on the individual needs of each dog. She makes herself available if you have any questions or concerns. Truly one of the best experience I’ve had in a training setting!

My wife and I recently started working with Alex and our three dogs a couple of weeks ago. I am not normally the kind of person to want outside help, but I am so glad we found Alex! Having three dogs has its challenges, and I tend to be more lenient with them, because they are too cute. Alex explained to us easily about the steps we should take in order to get the results that we want. Even though we have only have had two sessions, I have seen a tremendous improvement in their behavior! She is always there to help us along the way too, if we have any other questions even though its not within her session here with us she responds quickly which I find to be a great attribute. Her availability definitely helps with my insane work schedule too. My wife and I have tried group classes with our dogs, but nothing can compare to Alexs immense amount of knowledge of dog behavior. Each dog has their own personality and she has a real gift to focus on what works best for each specific dog. My dogs enjoy her company and we always look forward to her coming over next! Looking for a trainer that shows results, I highly recommend Alex!

Our dogs had a great experience being boarded with Alex at Rivers Edge. The facility is immaculately clean and we appreciated frequent updates about how our dogs were doing while we were away. Will not hesitate to bring our dogs again!

Alex is great. She is wonderful to work with. She was always on time, flexible with appointments and always sent reminders. As a trainer, I had complete faith in her and she was extremely knowledgeable in all aspects of the different behaviors I was having with my dog. My dog could not be taken to the vet to get her shots. After three tries and some sessions with Alex we finally got her there! That was just one of the behaviors we worked on. I would not hesitate at all to refer her.

Alex is amazing! We got a puppy with some health issues who couldn’t go to a traditional class. She came to our home and helped teach him (and, more importantly, us!) the basics. Then she helped us learn to walk him without any pulling. And if that wasn’t enough, she helped us to make him a “patio dog” we can take with us anywhere! She is the absolute best and I’d recommend her to everyone.

My sister introduced me to Alex after she worked with her two dogs. I was so impressed in the change the dogs behavior that I decided to call Alex for some refinement with my dog. It was the best decision I ever made. Alex is extremely knowledgeable and no nonsense, which I greatly appreciated. She also was available to answer my occasional questions concerning leashes and products. I can honestly say that with Alexs help, I now have the best dog I have ever owned. Love Rivers Edge Canine! I met Alex a few years ago in a training course for one of my dogs. I lead an active outdoor lifestyle and it is important to me that I can bring my dogs along for the adventure. When I noticed my younger pup, Coraline, was exhibiting fear based behavior and a general inability to focus on tasks and commands, I immediately thought of Alex. Coraline recently completed the two week board and train program and her behavior has improved tremendously! Alex did a fantastic job with my dog Owen!I sent Owen to her for a three week board and train after a couple biting incidents on myself and his previous owner. Alex was able to identify what was causing his spurts of aggressive behavior and he came back incredibly well mannered and obedient. She gave me a few follow up lessons to help me keep Owen on the right track and teach me how to properly work with him. I couldnt recommend her services more, shes a very skilled trainer!

Was actually referred here by another trainer when I was looking for someone to train my five year old bulldog, and I’m so happy they did! I had lost all hope that there was no fixing him when it came to dog aggression, pulling on the leash, etc. I used to be afraid to take my dog outside of my apartment, now we go for walks every day! I can’t begin to explain how at ease and confident in my dog River’s Edge & Alex has made me feel. I just recently even brought him back to board him for the weekend while I went away! I’ll never go anywhere else.

I just finished private lessons with Alex. She is very knowledgeable and can tell she loves what she is doing. She has taught me how to properly walk my dog. My dog would pull, jump, bite the leash and bite my jacket and hang from it. Now my dog walks beside me and looks up at me enjoying her walk. Alex has also taught me to keep my dog still in my house by using place. I can know put my dishes away and do other things without my dog in my way. So wonderful. My dog also has good manners at the door. She sits and waits without jumping at my guests. Without Alex I don’t think I could have tackled all this on my own. She has taught me how to handle my dog and has showed me how to be calm with her. I highly recommend her. You won’t be disappointed. I know she is just a phone call away if I need her again.

Have known Alex for just about as long as I can remember and there is nobody I would trust more regarding advice for my dog. Owning a dog reactive dog myself, I am cautious as to the situations I put myself and him in. By dog reactive, I mean the type of dog that used to go from zero to explosion at the mere sight of another dog. When Alex got her dog Lila I immediately knew that she was someone I could take my dog out with and trust that the situation would be safe and monitored. At this point not only are our dogs are able to interact seamlessly and happily, Alex has aided me in introducing my dog to many other dogs; which has furthered his progress immensely. I am now able to introduce him to other dogs safely and easily work them into my household without worry of my current dog or the safety of the new dog. Despite me now living 13+ hours away, whenever I have a dog training question, I turn to Alex and she is always quick to help me work through the problem. In fact, I trust Alex so much I recommended my own mother to her when she got a new dog.

Thanks to River’s Edge Canine we finally have the control back in our house again! I first called Alex when our Pitt Terrier,Winnie,started displaying signs of aggression on the leash towards other dogs. We were confused because she goes to daycare and has never had a problem at the dog park before. After our in-home consultation Alex informed us that she was leash reactive and talked us through how we would be correcting her before we begun. She made sure we were comfortable and made herself available to us outside our our one on one sessions if we had any questions. I am so happy to say we finally can walk her without any distraction being an issue and I am able to handle both of our dogs by myself now.Walks in our house are fun again and my days of being embarrassed by my dogs in public are over!Thank you Alex for being so wonderful!

We sent our 1 year old Labrador named Bailey on a two week board and train with Alex. We were having problems with Bailey listening and focusing to our commands. Bailey also had some negative behaviors that we were not able to handle on our own. It is difficult to put into words just how ecstatic we are with Baileys results! He is focused, listens to our commands, knows his boundaries, all the while still being the fun loving puppy he was before! We are able to take Bailey for walks with ease. No more lunging and barking at everything that walks by. Bailey now looks to us for reassurance and tries so hard to do what he was trained to do. Alex taught us the skills we needed to keep the training she started with Bailey, consistent at home. She has always been available for support and reassurance. Thank you Alex for your compassion and expertise! This was the best investment that we could have ever made for our family!

Just wanted to give a huge thanks to Alex and River’s Edge Canine for helping Rudy and I out. I adopted Rudy, a 6.5 year old stud chocolate lab who would bolt as soon as he saw an opportunity. After just a handful of training sessions with Alex I’m proud to say I now have a pup that I have no fear of taking outside without a leash. She taught me exactly what I was doing wrong and how to correct it. I would highly recommend her to anyone I know with a dog. She is highly personable and awesome to learn from.

Alex is an amazing dog trainer! So patient (both with the dogs and us!), knowledgeable and consistent. Exactly what dogs, and their people, need. We did both lessons and a board and train. The lessons were great and helped us with minor issues but the board and train completely transformed how we are with our dogs. We can now take them off-leash and they come when called and they walk to heel so well! Before it was a pain to walk them as they pulled so strongly and we couldnt begin to let them off leash as theyd be gone. Worth every penny and may be the best money we have ever spent! Love, Love, LOVE Alex!!!! She has helped us so much with our new addition to the family with our two older dogs. She takes the time to listen to our issues and then develops a plan based on our situation. We have done in-house training with her and have also been attending classes. We are definitely going to continue to work with her so we can have a happy furry family!

Alex did such a great job with our little guy Pringles! We brought him to the Board and Train 3 week program because of his nonstop barking when he is alone in the apartment, printing neighbors to frequently complain. On top of this he did show lots of signs of resource guarding. On just Pringles 2nd day home alone, we can see on our camera he is sleeping the whole time totally relaxed! Him being relaxed while alone is something I didnt think was a real possibility. Alex did great work and then spent 2 hours with us as we picked up Pringles to show us the nuances of his training that we have to keep up with. She is obviously so knowledgeable and really wants to teach dog owners how to give their dog what they need. I cannot say enough good things, if she can make my Beagle/Chihuahua mix stop barking, then she can do anything in my eyes. We will happily be bringing Pringles there anytime we need to board him over the weekend or vacation!

Alex and River’s Edge Canine have been amazing for us! My puggle, Callie, was recently diagnosed with a back issue that unfortunately is chronic and something we will have to deal with for the rest of her life. Even though she’s almost 8 years old, she still gets crazy and energetic on walks.....she pulls and barks and goes crazy any time she sees another dog which puts her at risk for injury. With her being older, we weren’t sure if we had any hope of training her how to behave better so that she can continue to enjoy the things she loves without hurting herself. In the short time we’ve worked with Alex, Callie is truly like a new dog on walks. Alex has come up with several training tips to help us work with Callie to make her the best dog she can be. Her bad behavior in the house has also improved unbelievably! We couldn’t be more happy with the work Alex has done with Callie...... I recommend her 100%!!

Ill just say first off highly suggest hiring Alex if you are having behavioral problems with your dog. Weve only thus far have had four training sessions with her and the changes we see are incredible. Our dog was/is having issues with when the vet does their examination with all the touching as well as getting his nails trimmed. With Alexs help we have been able to muzzle train our dog for when he goes to get trimmed or the vet (which he previously would fight when they tried to muzzle him). He doesnt fuss about it and lately we havent even needed to bribe with treats. With her help weve even been able to clip his nails ourselves. Our last vet and nail trim appointment went so much better since training began. Of course he still growls but he didnt show his teeth or even try to snap at them. We are extremely pleased with the progress we have seen and highly suggest others who are seeking help with training for behavioral problems to schedule with Alex. Of course keep in mind it only works if you are willing to put in the time too.

Our dog , Parker, is a 6 1/2 year old chocolate lab. My wife could not walk him because he would pull her around and when i walked him he was continually tugging on his leash . Every time we met someone he would jump up at them. We were desperate so we gave Alex a call. After two weeks he came back a new dog! My wife can now walk him and so can I. So you can teach an old dog new tricks. We cannot believe the change in Parker and we owe it all to Alex. We highly recommend her services.

My dog and my boyfriends dog are dog aggressive and have been for years. To move them in together we needed training. She did such great work on them that they now love each other when before they would go after each other and seriously bite. My dog also now behaves in my barn to my surprise because we did not train for that. So that was a HUGE bonus. Before he would misbehave and snap at the horses and just would not settle down, even with a shock collar. He would act OK, but then try and do sneak attacks on the horses. But after the training he is more relaxed and actually allowed a few horses to sniff him without trying to bite them. I am so thankful for her training and help. It took a huge load of stress off me and my boyfriend. (Training did not go so far as for my dog to like barn cats but did not expect that miracle lol) :)

This is an amazing operation. They know what they are doing and they know how to run their business. They treated my dog with the utmost care while we were away and we knew our dog was having a great time there, too. Our dog is so happy to get inside each time we arrive!

Alex is AWESOME! I never thought our beagle (Barney) could be trained but she was able to do it! It is well worth the drive.

I met Alex 2 years ago when we started private lessons with her. I was very discouraged before I met her. When Olive was about a year and a half, she started to display fearful and aggressive behaviors. It started off with her acting this way only when she was with me. Little did I know, I was a huge reason why she was acting out. We had tried to bring Olive back to the training center that we had taken her to for Puppy Classes but, they actually turned us away. They didn’t know how to handle her. I tried to figure things out on my own and it only made the situation worse. My stress and anxiety created stress and anxiety for Olive and it became a very unhealthy relationship.I was very nervous when we first started lessons. Alex immediately changed all of that. She never once made me feel judged or bad about my situation. In fact, she let me know that I was not the only one. She was incredibly patient with both Olive and I. We both lacked confidence in each other and ourselves and Alex recognized that right away. She help us build our confidence, gave me the right tools to help Olive, and stayed open and available for any questions or help I needed.After buying a house and moving, Olive and I began to lose confidence in our unfamiliar surroundings and things started to regress backwards. I knew I had to call Alex for help. We were living in a new space, with new triggers, and I just needed some guidance to get us back to where we were. I contacted Alex right away and she was willing to jump back in and help us out. There are so many more things I want to continue to work on with Olive and I plan to do just that with Alex for as long as she’ll have us.I have never met someone so honest, kind, patient, and devoted to their work and their clients. She is truly the best and has helped me create a wonderful bond with Olive that brings me so much joy every single day. We have been doing private lessons with Alex for a few months. Alex is one of the best trainers and is very knowledgeable. Before finding Alex I didn’t know what to do, my dog had separation problems and would bark all the time. Also I could not walk her without her barking and growling at other dogs. Working with a dog trainer or even selecting a trainer can feel like a shot in the dark without a recommendation. Rivers Edge Canine - Alex - worked with me and my Boxer Barley. Animals behave in certain ways and have good and bad manners that can be exacerbated by lack of structure and boundaries. I didnt know any of that until I worked with Alex. We had typical issues like poor leash manners, barking and a tad of fear aggression. Alex has a plan for you and its not a pre-determined rubric; its an evaluation of you, your dog and issues you want to correct. Simple strategies on behavior modification that I am confident will help you bond better with you dog and learn how to make those changes stick. I recommend Alex to anyone seeking new training or looking to solve an existing gap.
