Wonderful Receptionist greetings us when we came in. When phone rang while she was getting our information She politely answered the phone and asked would you please hold. I have other places where the call I made was answered with Hold not politeness. The Veternarian Doctor was nice and answered all our questions. I do plan to bring in our other two cats to this office. Thank you for such good service.

On the first appointment my cat was taken out of the room for shots which I didn’t find weird, until the next appointment where a different vet did the shots in front of me and kept him in the room. my cat all of a sudden declined in heath and died a couple months after the appointment, I’m not saying this place is the reason he’s dead but it could be. I will never bring another animal here

I loved the doctor that treated my kitty. She was very caring and knowledgeable. It was a bit pricey, but worth every penny to know that my Smokey is a healthy senior cat. We will be back, and I would recommend this doctor to anyone.

Amsterdam Animal Hospital is a quality vet. They have been our vet for 20 years, all the way back to Dr Contino before he retired. Then, we transitioned to Dr Beck. Dr Beck has cared for our dogs for about 15 years, through good times and bad. He is nothing short of amazing, caring and skilled but doesnt recommend unnecessary expensive tests unless appropriate. He kept our American Eskimo happy and alive for an additional 4 years after being diagnosed with recurring Mast Cell Tumors and Chronic Pancreatitis.Dr Becks availability has recently been scaled back so this month my current dog saw a new vet, Dr Colin Cary, for her annual exam and vaccinations. Dr Cary was super friendly and very thorough. My dog had a reaction to her vaccines, so Dr Cary did a second extremely thorough exam to make sure she was OK and administered a steroid to make her more comfortable. A few hours later, she was fine. Neither I nor my dog are fond of change, but we would be happy to see Dr Cary in the future.FYI- Dont be discouraged by the older negative reviews about the unpleasant receptionist. I know exactly who theyre referring to, but she hasnt worked there in many years. Tammy and Yvonne are the main points of contact now, and they are extremely friendly and conscientious. The Vet Techs are fantastic as well. Again, 20 years later and I am still very pleased with the care that all of our dogs have received at Amsterdam Animal Hospital. I have recommended them to both my mother-n-law and father, who live farther away, and the care they received for difficult conditions was superb as well.

I brought my pet for a focused issue that was addressed in his records previously, the office insisted on performing a full exam despite his annual exam being 8 months ago. My friend recommended a shot for the problem which I asked about and the vet shared only to find out when I go to pay the shot at this clinic is 250 dollars when my friend got it at her vet for a 100, her dog is 1/2 a pound lighter than mine so same weight. When I spoke to them on the phone when I inquired about the shot, I mentioned the price and they didn’t inform me of their price difference. I understand each vet has their own pricing but that huge of a price difference is ridiculous. Very disappointed with my visit and I will not recommend this clinic to my enemy. It would appreciated if they reach out to their customers for their concerns but they probably won’t.

Took my dog here . Happy and healthy.Got him back traumatized and unable to walk due to a broken foot. Vet denies any responsibility and dont know what happened. Wont give me any response. Didnt give a proper exam like an x-ray or anything.If you love your pet , avoid this place.They are negligent.

They killed my dog years ago “got out of the kennel and out of the building and hit by a car” I eventually got another dog. She had dental decay so we brought her in to get that taken care of. They pulled 26 teeth 2 days ago and she just died. She had so much life left in her.. I’m not sure the ethics are right here. I’m heartbroken to say the least.. if you care about your family fur baby. DONT take them here. lost a family member today. Maybe if the treatment was in 2 sessions she would’ve lived. Who knows. I’m a dental professional and know losing 1/2 your teeth would be a lot. But on a small dog, even more. You guys need to reevaluate your treatment plans.

Really good team and care towards animals.Have been well taken care of for their needs as well as ours. They gave great care and respect for our pets and towards us when they were sick and helped when was time to put them down. Was a very good experience in every matter and concern. Ty guys for the job you do and making it easy for everyone and their pets.

Have had a few appointments with Dr. beck and they went well. Then we show up for neutering and ask the receptionist questions to receive eye rolls followed by it says in the file you were spoke to. Then she proceeded to be rude and had us take our dog through the surgical suite with soaked floors after while prepping a dog in the suite. Also they know our dog has anxiety at the vets due to a serious knee surgery that had a 6 week recovery time as a puppy. Also as a vet tech you should know that a tissue joint is fragile and not as strong as a normal developed BONE joint. So our dog is having panic attacks falling on the concrete floor over and over with no help from the professionals I’m paying. Then instead of the same rude human printing the info and handing it to us like I assume she is getting paid to do, she is even more rude instead informs us we should research or called for the surgical information. Well that’s why we emailed multiple times. Also I’m not the vet, so why am I paying you if I have to do the research. Also don’t ask us if we have questions if you only intend on arguing and making excuses when you can’t take the two steps to the computer to print the information. We still have absolutely no information about neutering. When to feed when to stop, should he have water, meds, what should we do to prepare for recovery if any, is he staying overnight, what’s the recovery, when can we expect info, do we need to call to find out? Absolutely not a single piece of information. Also now my dog is limping and has yelped from trying to sit three times. How can one be expected to trust when remembering things as simple as surgical information is forgotten and excuse are made. I’m bringing my dog to Latham to be seen by a very large and well regarded staff that work in multiple offices in NY and VT. All of this was easily repairable prior to leaving the office, solution: “Here let me give you that information to review before we check him in. Just to make sure it is safe to preform sedation on your family member.” Also if you read further into the reviews there is a trend and it’s one employee over and over with same exact complaint. Luckily my wife has her PhD in law and we can contact appropriate people for legal advice for recourses should any harm be found in his joint caused by today’s horrific visit. I don’t know if Dr Beck even sees these because I called asked to talk and was placed on hold then disconnected. I will contact the NYS licensing board so at least he gets a formal notification and is informed of his staff members not doing their jobs and covering it up because he is to busy to have the time to monitor them. This is a trend 6 years old now and most 1 star reviews are on the same topic specifically a person.

They acted quick on my very sick dog and saved her life. Its requires a monthly shot and they are great every visit. Prices are great. My dog is a little snotty and they handle her awesome!! Thanks to the awesome docs.

I had to bring my cat in for an abscess on his neck, I asked them to look at his leg since the other vet just told me let nature take it course on healing it. I couldnt stand looking at my cat in such pain. They are awesome with working with the clients on payments and the procedure was amazing my cat is doing awesome on 3 legs. I recommend this vet hospital Hour are great and the Doctor very friendly as for the staff as well.

Wow...I wish I had read all of the reviews about the rude, dismissive and irresponsible receptionist they employ. I myself have had the same experience. We recently moved to the area and was looking forward to meeting with the vets. It didnt take long till one of my dogs fell ill and needed to be seen. The vet experience was very good, and the staff that attended to my dog were top notch. The receptionist however is a whole other issue. Of course, if you would like free medical advice over the phone, the receptionist is great for that!!! I called with a follow up issue with my dog, and the receptionist proceeded to reprimand me and tell me that I did something wrong and I should not of done that. I am sorry....does she know my dogs better then me? What is a vet with a vet degree doing working the phones? Oh, I guess she is no more qualified to give medical advice then I am !! Spoke to the vet about the rude, condescending receptionist, and all I got was an I am sorry, and we will package up your dogs records for you. Guess they are as inept at running a business as the receptionist are!! If it was my business, I would of offered some kind of incentive to keep me as a client. So now, they have lost 2 dogs as new clients. Maybe they should save their money on the the vets payroll and just let the receptionist make house calls !!!! Will drive 100 miles before I would go back the this place

Dr. Schlecker has been phenomenal with my dachshund. She took the time to call and check on how my boy was doing after she referred us to a specialist. I’m so glad to have someone so knowledgeable and compassionate to take care of my boys.

Today I was feeling sad cause I discovered my cat has a wound towards her back area. I took her to the vet and to my surprise the receptionist had an attitude blinking her eyes unsmiling unfriendly I felt so unwelcome there. I told her about my cat and she was silent, staring with a mean stare so I asked if my cat can be helped and then decided to leave because I felt so angry by her attitude and I didnt want her near my cat. Very unprofessional and unpleasant experience for me. Before I left I asked the receptionist name and she told me no. First time I dealt with anybody who works for a vet and has an attitude. I am disgusted.

Great Animal Hospital, the staff is incredible. The doctors are so knowledgeable about all your pet problems and know how to help them get better.

Today I came to the vet with my mom and her dog. The vet was the rudest lady I have ever met. She would not let us speak to ask question and did not answer questions properly. She seemed very uneducated and did not have any communication skills what so ever not to mention she had little if any compassion for the dog in question...

I just brought my lab in for what i thought was a 6:40pm appointment that i set up on their website. It turns out i was never put on the schedule and had to reschedule. I can now add Amsterdam Animal Hospital to the list of those who has wasted my time in my life. Best to call before hand to make sure your on the schedule.

We brought Rosco there Monday for a ear flap hematoma....the vet was very helpful..she explained his condition and was very kind to him

I had to put my cat of 12 years down a few days ago. It was a heartbreaking process only exacerbated by the unprofessionalism here. Not only was all of the staff besides one person I dealt with completely cold, they were also laughing loudly and generally being disrespectful during the whole process. Euthanasia didnt go smooth either. So she was flipped around like a rag doll shaved multiple times and shoved with a needle multiple times after partly injecting her. It was a complete shitshow. Thanks for making an already horrific day so much worse

We have been going to amsterdam animsl hospital with our pets for over 15 years. But its not like it use to be. We had to take our dog there she fell .She could not walk we took her in on a stretcher. I was given a anti inflamatory for her. Dr Beck never even took a xray. You could see something was seriously wrong. The way her hind leg wasWe decided to take her to Latham .the doctor first thing after exammining her took xrays .Our dog had a fractured femur. Then our husky had a growth undet her leg. Never did s needle biobsy. Just said needed to be removed. It was a sarcoma.it would of been nice if i knew this first

Since my husband passed in April and was very sick before that my two pups have been missing him. Took them today for checkup ..and they were so happy to see the Dr and everyone there. Please know how grateful I am to all of you. Kathi Dermott

It was time for my baby bunny to be neutered and they provided exceptional service.

Unfortunately we had to euthanize or 17 year old beloved dog and the vet and the entire staff was outstanding, making a very difficult situation much easier. Professional and compassionate throughoutThank you all very much, you helped our dog and ourselves be at peace with

Give me a warning! Brought my cat in today, the Dr. told me they usually do a senior testing package with blood work and whatever else. Well stupid me said ok and I almost fell over when I checked out. I was expecting to maybe pay 150-200 for the visit.....The testing was over $200 and a simple visit turned into a $326 bill.

I inherited a cat and since they are my two dogs Drs..I called..he had a nail inbedd in his paw ...they took him and took care of it all..very grateful.

Took my dog for a hematoma on his right ear in jan 2016, Now he has 2 more witch required surgery. Took the stitches off this pass Saturday and now he has another hematoma on his right ear. Mind you the surgery was 2 weeks ago. Now they tell me we have to pay for another hematoma surgery $800+ dollars later. Yea like money grows on trees.

Humphrey spent a week here while we were on vacation, and he came home safe, sound and in great shape. The people were all nice. Thanks to all!

This vet the the best vet I have brought my dog to. The staff, ESPECIALLY THE RECEPTIONISTS and the vet tech are very nice and care for the animals. I would recommend this vet to absolutely anyone who is looking for professionalism and animal care!

I have gone to this vet for years, and have spent THOUSANDS at this place! I have two mastiffs, one being very problematic and have been there often because of this. We have had many issues with them including their rude receptionist who denied me medication for my dog after being told by vet that it was free with the $500 blood test he just had. I drove there to pick it up when it was ready like we were told to do. Basically called me a liar when I told her it was free with test. Had to leave without meds. Mind you we have found out he is allergic to 15 things and broke out in hives very itchy and uncomfortable! The straw that broke the camels back and now why I will be in search of another vet that actually CARES about the animal, now he has an ear infection. Well aware of what it looks like. Our female has had them and have been told that next time she gets one we can just call for drops instead of bringing her in. But because it is my male with it, he has to be seen. So now I have to pay for vet visit, exam, and meds for them to tell me what I already know? Absolutely ridiculous! I will no longer be recommending them for ear cropping, which I have done in the past on a cane corso group that I am a very involved member in. I will also be letting everyone I know of the experiences I have had with them. If I could give them no stars I would have.

They did a bunch of tests on my dog then said the procedure that she needed couldnt be done there. They were just trying to make money on us.

Great people working there. Very thoughtful and thorough.

The vet himself came out to see me at the car. He listened to my concerns and addressed them, and he was very kind. Great bedside manner. And they sent me a card welcoming me to the practice.

Just called (twice) to see if you take walk ins, was told by Lindsey that you dont, even though your website clearly says you do. Pointed that out to her, and her response was Well, we dont! Might want to change that on your site and teach Lindsey some phone etiquette.
