Canine Guidance Center

Phoebe loves going to CGC for day care. She is a 15 month old golden doodle. Spencer trained her as soon as we got her and he has continued to train her when she comes for day care. He was very sensitive to our family dynamics: we were concerned about our 5 year old granddaughter Falcon being afraid of this new puppy jumping on her. Spencer included Falcon in his training, making Falcon more at ease, and teaching her, as well as us, the most effective way to train Phoebe. Phoebe is a fabulous, happy , well adjusted dog. Spencer has a special understanding of dogs; he has created a wonderful day care setting for dogs to play together. Phoebe thrives being part of his pack

Canine Guidance Center is a wonderful places for dogs of all ages and stages (we brought our puppy as soon as she was rescued along with our 11 year old lab and they both LOVE it).They come home happy and exhausted, and are so well behaved with all other dogs when we are out and about.The staff is incredibly knowledgeable about all breeds and personalities and make us feel like our dogs are the favorites!My only wish is that I could go with my dog!

Spencer is absolutely wonderful and professional. He truly loves dogs and goes above and beyond for his dogs and his clients. In addition to training, he also boards and fosters dogs. He’s an animal lover with a big heart and a lot of passion. We adopted a beautiful dog he evaluated for tempermant and then fostered and he was diligent about finding her a great home. We are so grateful for everything he has done for us and our Bella! We will absolutely work with him again and we highly recommend him and his staff 😁

We adopted our dog, Molly (a rescue), two years ago. As a puppy, she was sweet and we had no issues. However, around the age of one, Molly slowly became dog aggressive, fearful, and extremely submissive to the point she would pee whenever we would acknowledge her. Over the two years weve had her, Molly slowly became the dog that we could not take on a walk. After trying other trainers, we thankfully found the Canine Guidance Center. Robert was beyond knowledgeable and patient as he helped us understand Molly. In a short two months, Molly has now become part of Roberts pack. She is able to be around and play with the other dogs at the center. She no longer pees when we acknowledge her, and we have slowly been taking her on short walks in our neighborhood with other dogs around. She is still a work in progress, but she has made great strides thanks to The Canine Guidance Center. We highly recommend The Canine Guidance Center as a dog center or even more importantly, as a place to help struggling dogs and their owners.

Chloé started going to CGC just over a week ago and already, she is a changed puppy! She comes home calm and tired; and a tired puppy is a happy puppy! Even on days that she is home, she is respectful of her boundaries and knows her happy place. We are thrilled we’ve found Spencer and CGC; while Chloé always looks forward to drop off and meeting her pack!

CGC in one word, AWESOME! My shepherd Blue started to go for training at 15 weeks old I couldnt believe in a few days the positive changes in his behavior, I knew I made the right choice for training. It was reassuring to be able to visit, meet the great staff and watch him interact with the other dogs while we talked. I love that he looks forward to getting picked up in the mornings, it really helps with my work schedule and I know he is happy all day and being trained. Thank you CGC

If you are having dog issues, you want your dog to be part of a pack, or you just dont have time to walk your dog several hours a day (most dogs need this!!!) then this is the place for you. My dog is so much happier since hes been going up to Canine Guidance Center. An animal behaviorist runs and owns it and he clearly knows what hes doing with these dogs. If you watch the videos (which he posts often!), you see he has a way with them. They listen to him. They become part of the pack. They are happy. Which means less issues or NO ISSUES at home anymore. Thank you Canine Guidance Center!! You have made my and my familys and my dogs life a thousand times better.

Spencer met with me, my twin 8 year olds, and our two puppies, and he very quickly helped us identify what we’re doing right and areas we could work on. We want our pups to be easy going members of the family, who can meet anyone and go anywhere, and he gave us some fun and easy excises to do with the dogs - a little homework for my kids and dogs! Thanks for the help so far!

Spence and his team are awesome! My beast gets real outdoor activity and socialization, like swimming in fresh water and roaming freely with the pack! You definitely dont find this with competitors. If Im running late, Spence is very accommodating, and I really appreciate that. Prices are very reasonable, too. CGC takes care of your pooch as if were their own.

We started taking our monster puppy to Spencer’s months ago and it was so great for him. He gets tons of playtime and he’s much better behaved. Now he’s a happy little gentleman.

Nothing I can say to you....If you’re looking for places, or options to help you with your dog, or just to get a good start on a long road ahead.The CGC is or has been a one stop shop for many. Robert Spencer was very amicable, the communication aspects was great, constant and to the point.Price was great.Maximus G. came home exhausted and calmed (what he really needed and needs)I would recommend Mr. Spencers services.

I never thought my Aussie would be able to stay in day care.Spencer was able to get him transitioned very easily with three German shepherds.

I give the CGC five stars, and my dog gives them two paws up, five barks, and some vivacious tail wags. Ive been sending Fritz, my rambunctious two-year old German Shepherd to the CGC for a year and a half now. It has been the perfect choice for us. Robert is excellent with the dogs, and some of the behaviors we struggled with early on with Fritz, seemed to just disappear, thanks to the CGC. Fritz is picked up in the morning before I go to work, and comes home around dinner time, delirious with exhaustion from having played with the same pack of dogs the live-long day. On hot summers days, they sometimes take the dogs for a swim. What more can you ask for? Weve used the CGC for boarding, too, and the pricing for all their services is very reasonable - best deal in town, IMHO. Its definitely a far better deal than any dog walker or trainer offers in the city. Woof! Woof!

Actions speak louder than words. Spencer is a total professional with a heart of gold. He is a man of few words and lots of action. You come to know these things about him upon the first meet & greet. My 10 month old German Shepherd absolutely loves him and very much NEEDS everything Spencer and his facility & staff has to offer. Very reasonably priced and money certainly well spent. I just cannot say enough about Spencer and his facility that I happened to stumble across. There were other reasons why I drove 2 1/2 hrs down from the Catskills and stumbling upon his facility was definitely not one of them. I believe in faith and that there is a reason for everything. My shepherd and I both needed to be trained and educated. In my opinion, no better man for this job. I guarantee YOU would feel the same way about him. Besides so many great and beautiful things he has taught both Hondo & myself, I’ll state one for instance: Spencer found out my puppy of 10 months has never ran free without a leash or long lead attached to him. I did have him in training for this but it was not soon enough for Spencer. Spencer politely asked me if I would like to join him one very early morning in accompanying him and his beautiful dog to a beach where dogs could run on the sand, FREE, off leash AND with other dogs. I am a very overprotective “parent” and didn’t think this was possible, at least not without an altercation with another dog or worse...RUNNING OFF! But I confided in Spencer and trusted him. My baby Shepherd & I...HAD THE TIME OF OUR LIVES!!! Now one of many times to come but so glad this first time was spent with Spencer. My puppy says THANK YOU! I say THANK YOU!! New customers WILL say thank you. Spencer certainly does not have to do all the things that he does and still have a fine thriving company, BUT HE DOES! He goes above & beyond. A true gentleman & FABULOUS trainer & facility! Thank you again Spencer.
