The facility and the staff were great. Gave us plenty of time to make our best choice. We chose Lola and she is a perfect fit for our family. The adoption process was easy.
My family adopted a puppy here when I was a child and in a full circle moment, I was reconnected with them as an adult to adopt our first family dog. I had a such a wonderful experience adopting Tilly, I came back for my second dog less than a year later. Both dogs have such amazing temperament and disposition. You can tell this rescue values the wellbeing of the dogs they intake and I feel good about supporting the work they are doing.
The staff and volunteers are wonderful. The application process was easy. I was able to meet many puppies before I found my perfect match. I couldnt be happier.
Today is a year that we adopted Penny. Aka Eliza! She is best friends with my grandson, and a wonderful addition to our family. Couldnt be happier. Thankyou Adopt-A-Dog ❤️
I couldnt be happier with my experience with Adopt-A-Dog in Armonk when I adopted my precious German Shepherd Mix puppy from them in May. I worked with Maddie and to say she was absolutely wonderful, is an understatement. These adorable puppies and dogs are so well cared for by the staff/volunteers that saved them; I cannot thank them enough everything they do day in and day, for bringing me my best friend and making the whole process easy and quick. I pray every dog finds loving homes! 🐾🐶
Very happy that I found Adopt-a-dog in Armonk for my first time adopting a dog. I had been searching online for some time and came across a 9 month old puppy up for adoption who was a mix of my two favorite breeds. After reading her thorough description, I selected that I was interested in adopting and I was contacted by Lauren from the shelter within an hour or so. She was very quick to ask what questions I had and when I would like to set up an appointment for meeting the dog. After filling out the adoption application, we were able to set up a meeting appointment the very next day and as soon as I met the dog, I knew we would be the perfect fit for each other. I was excited to learn about the foster to adopt program which let me take our dog home that same day, with the comfort in knowing that if for any reason things did not workout after a week or so, that they would gladly take the dog back (although I knew that everything would be great). Before leaving with our dog and all of her vet information, Lauren provided us with a full bag of food, a crate and even one of our dogs favorite toys.Overall, this adoption center really cares about all of the dogs under their watch and who they end up with for the rest of their lives. And 5 days later, our dog Sierra and us already feel like we have been family forever.
Adopted our Tony there last Sunday. They were very quick and thorough. Did an initial call and then a house tour to make sure the pup had a good space. The application is very long but it’s to be expected. Probably the only adoption place that I felt like got to know me and didn’t just hand me an animal. The facility seems like they love dogs and are doing everything they can. Loved everything. Had some bad experiences with other adoption places, so working with them was refreshing!
Started volunteering. So many good dogs and young puppies. All breeds and sizes. Please consider adopting at this crucial time. Shelters are overwhelmed and good dogs are just waiting too long. Now is the time to adopt your newest furry friend!
We adopted are first dog Tilly who was a great dog recently passed away we went and adopted Bruno hes a good addition to are home we love adopt a dog
You can tell the pets are well cared for and loved from adopt a dog. Brandy (Cheesecake) is the sweetest girl. I cannot say enough on how wonderful this place is.
Great experience! They love the animals and are all very well cared for. We adopted Howie and love him so much.. Thank you for bringing Howie into our lives!
They had a stand at the stamford health expo. One of the staff significantly hurt my wrist. I was petting a dog when a huge metal tent hit my wrist so hard and the staff who apparently had seen me there and decided to hit me on purpose yelled at me “you have to move.” It would have been nice if he yelled at me before hitting me so hard. He was in my back I couldn’t see him. So much for being able to meet the dogs. I am so glad no children nor dog got hurt, but the behavior and rudeness of the staff concern me for these poor dogs.
We adopted a great pit bull mix from Adopt-A-Dog, named Missy. She was around 6 months when we got her, and we had many years of fun and enjoyment with her. She was a super-A+ dog, a little zany sometimes, but a great great dog. We believe she was from New Rochelle. And, Adopt-A-Dog is an excellent place. They are very good with their dogs, extremely helpful, overall very excellent.
We just adopted a wonderful 8 year old Lab from this organization - they are beyond amazing and the love they have for these dogs is apparent. The care and training they provide for the dogs is superb - they know them inside out and will heap all of that knowledge onto you so you are well equipped to welcome them into their forever homes. Love this place, please consider adopting their senior dogs
Everyone we’ve worked with at Adopt-A-Dog has been just wonderful. We’ve enjoyed being able to help in their mission to secure loving forever homes for dogs in need. We love supporting their fantastic Puttin’ on the Dog event each year and look forward to continuing to work with them in the future!
I love this agency! Have adopted several adult dogs throughout the past 20 years: Scotty and Chula (2 for one special on a Presidents Day years ago); my beloved beagle, Sammy, who we adopted the same day his owner dropped him off because of personal health issues. Last, but surely the most needy, was Honey Girl! Shed been a breeder dog down south, kept in a cage since shed been born, but was a Katrina rescue. When I first saw her at Adopt a Dog, she had just given birth, but her pups had been euthanized because of the storm. Thin, ragged, nipples hanging down to the ground, she screamed for love. We took her that same Christmas Eve and nursed her back to health. Like the others, we miss and love them all. Please adopt if you can! Love and caring IS contagious.
We’ve adopted three dogs from Adopt-a-Dog over the years. Two shitzus at once, who our only child adored and played with all the time. After they crossed the Rainbow 🌈 Bridge, weadopted a Special Needs border collie. He had been abused by former male owners. Also, kidsthrew acid on him and his fur never grew back.He was with us 13 years and was very loyal, protective of me, and let our two grandkids play with him even as toddlers. After he crossed the Rainbow 🌈 Bridge I reached out to the Adoption Coordinator about a specific dog. Shetold me that dog wasn’t as tolerant of smallchildren. This was important as we take care ofour 3 year old granddaughter M-F. She said she’d keep an eye out for a more appropriate dog for us.
This is my second time adopting a dog from here and I truly love how they treat them!!! We love our dog and can’t get enough of her all thanks to Adopt-A-Dog. They take quality care of their dogs and I’m so happy I found my perfect match.
Both my husband and i have tried calling both numbers that are listed on their website. one is out of service and one keeps ringing with the inability to leave a voice mail. we would like to have come in and visit some of the adoptable dogs but are discouraged by this.
Got my AWESOME dog from here 2 weeks ago tomorrow! He is the best!
I was disappointed with how they make their decisions. There is obvious preference to families who have adopted from them before. We were looking for a specific breed. They gave the dog to another family who already had the breed, even though we applied first. It was clear we bonded with the dog and we felt the dog picked us, but clearly that didnt matter with this place. They were also insensitive asking if we wanted another dog at the same time they tell us they picked another family.
Adopted 2 of my best friends from here. Awesome people, great care and dedication is a guarantee. Even if you dont find what youre looking for, let it find you! And dont forget to donate!
We adopted Summer (previously) Lassie. I knew I wanted her as soon as I saw that adorable face and learned of what she had been though. I volunteer here and I see every day how wonderful and dedicated all of the staff is. We love her and are so happy for her as well. She now has us and our family to love and cherish her.
This sight was able to answer all my questions before owning my first pet
We adopted 2 beautiful fur babies. We’re very happy with the adoption. Thank you for everything Adopt a Dog.
I got my best friend Harrison from here😍
They don’t respond, and office always closed. They get donations I’m sure the staff gets paid but the person who runs it my need to be investigated. It’s a shame the animals suffer
I will never purchase an animal i am all up for adoption however some of these adoptions have a crazy adoption fee of hundreds of dollars sent an email to see if one dog i saw was available never heard back.
These animals are not in a typical shelter and they are cared for as if they are the pets of the staff. The best shelter Ive ever been in.
The staff here is condescending as hell. I filled out the 15 page application to the best of my ability at work. I spoke to them on the phone. The first time they apologized for coming off difficult. I said it was fine I’d work around them. Then they started their vetting process which I whole heartedly agree with. I forgot another previous vets info. I said I was getting that info for them to call the vet that very second. She was being so condescending and mean so I called her out on it and I guess she thinks that she can speak to people any kind of way but you’re not going to bully me. Then to de-escalate the conversation I called her “lovely dear” and I asked her to relax many times. And she took it as me being demeaning then said I wasn’t a good fit. The dog would’ve had such a comfortable long life with my little family. I wish all the best to those dogs and hope they get wonderful families. But these are the kind of people that will prevent many dogs from finding truly loving families.
Really nice people THEY TREAT THOSE DOGGOS RIGHT MOST RECOMMENDED PLACE TO ADOPT A DOG !!!! BEAUTIFUL PLACE AND VERY SPACIOUS !!!
Very nice place
Disappointed. They asked me questions regarding my pet and no one returned calls or emails. Just left me hanging.
Great staff even during things trying times. So glad to have found a local place!!
We fostered a dog for Adopt-A-Dog and they were so helpful, thorough, and supportive as we went through the process. The dogs in their care are amazingly taken care of and trained very well. Kelly and Tara are wonderful and made the entire experience fun. I cant recommend them enough.
Terrible Experience!! Bent over backwards to Adopt a Young or Adult from this Rescue and was met at most steps with obstacles from the Adoption Director, Kristen. It was a dizzying experience and blamed the miscommunication with the last Vet on me, rather then going back to my Application or listening to what were like many Texts and Emails. DO NOT APPLY. You wont get anything but pushback. Go to the Rescues who are willing to not only be helpful in their process, but cant wait for you to find your best Match. One Star for sheer aggivation.
Extremely knowledgeable, patient, and caring staff. We were looking for an older dog that would get along with our cat, Kelly made sure we found the perfect fit. Tara the trainer/behavior manager gave us a lot of tips to deal with our dogs separation anxiety and fear aggression (which I hadn’t dealt with before) and it’s been 9 months and our dog is thriving! Couldn’t recommend this place more!
Amazing organization - they truly care about the well-being of each and every animal they rescue. My family is so lucky to have come across Adopt-A-Dog - we have adopted a truly amazing dog and are so thankful for all that Tara and Kelly do!
Staff extremely rude. Maybe they were having a bad day. But we wont be back
Adopt-a-Dog is a wonderful facility staffed with caring individuals who are committed to promoting the welfare of the homeless animals in their charge, and finding those dogs and cats their forever homes.
They do the most amazing work to save animals
They are so nice. I could not find a better one!
I love this place! to0 O a& & Akkad Ashdod
A very special place - they know and love what they are doing. The dogs are in a haven until they find their forever homes.
