Tom is incredibly easy to work with. We had a bit of a strict schedule with our work schedules and appointments else where, but he always worked with us. Our dog is incredibly stubborn and the tools that were taught during our sessions have helped us tremendously. We started with puppy lessons to get the basics and they helped, but when our dog turned 2 we found her to be unmanageable with her destructiveness. The basics helped, but the e-collar training have been a game changer. Tom helped us feel comfortable with the collar because we had some reservations about it. Our dog still has some things to work on, but we aren’t going to train her bad habits out of her over night.
When we met with Tom for a consultation, we were extremely impressed by his knowledge of and interactions with our dogs. So we signed both dogs up for the program and sessions always included them both. We learned a lot and so have the dogs. But I want to stress that this is not magic. While Tom does work with the dogs, hes really teaching us to train our dogs. Its not going to be successful unless youre committed to changing habits and working with your dogs. Youll get from it what you put into it. And while we may do a group session or an extra session now & then, what we learned during training will be helpful for our future pets as well. We had a very long round trip for their sessions, but it was entirely worth it and wed do it again.
Pleased with training & results; rather disappointed with ownership.Early this summer we took our dog for training and laid out our expectations/goals to Tom get our dog acclimated better with other dogs. Without belaboring every poor session we had with Tom, there were multiple times we left training feeling aggravated and anxious about returning. Working very well (minus a couple instances) with our dog, Tom’s coaching of us as dog owners did not give us confidence he had any fundamental teaching or lesson planning skills, and showcased his inability to give effective instructions. While our dog has more training and structure today than he did when we started, we did not feel the price or aggravation was worth it
This place helped my dog begin learning his basic commands. He learned simple yet needed instructions and as owners we learned more. Awesome and worth it.
I recently got a dog for the first time and wanted to start off on the right foot. I have never trained a dog before so I wanted help with the process. I took my new puppy in for a free eval and talked with Tom about my goals for my dog. We decided to go worth the full training program and have never looked back. They do not use shock collars like some other reviews state and the entire focus is on making the training enjoyable and SAFE for both you and the dog. My dog has made incredible progress and so have I in my understanding of his training needs and requirements. Make no mistake, it is work for both of you. It is extremely rewarding however, to see your dog react positively to your commands and enjoy doing it. Now that both my dog and I have been trained, our lives are so much easier and I look forward to a great future relationship with him. I recommend Sit Means Sit to anyone needing dog training.
I never thought I would see such drastic results in my dog, Lucia’s behavior. She is approximately 11 years old, jumped on people, barked and did not listen well. She is doing so well now , Tom the trainer has complimented me on how she listens to commands and behaves so much better. I highly recommend this company and am very pleased
Tom is an excellent trainer and teacher. Our dog Eva has come a long way in a very short time thanks to Tom and Sit Means Sit.We look forward to learning more and working with him.
