Are you struggling with your dogs behavior or training or just looking to build a better bond with your dog....I would highly recommend Sit Means Sit! I encourage anyone who thinks their dog cant be trained or helped to set up an appointment with Tom, you wont regret it. He has helped my reactive dog so much! Best choice I made for myself and my dog!
Highly recommend Sit Means Sit. Tom is super knowledgeable and made the process of training easy to understand and fun. He also takes the time to explain the “why” and methodology of how he trains which is extremely helpful. In just four lessons, I have built the basics with my dog that I can continue to build on. Rescuing a 3.5 year old dog, I wasn’t sure that training was possible, but it’s not true what they say, you can teach an old dog new tricks!
Tom has not only unlocked my dogs abilities to be the best they can be, he has also made me a better dog owner. The Sit Means Sit program is not simply about teaching your dog commands. Its about teaching YOU what motivates and drives your dog, how her mind works, what her body language can tell you and how to help her not only understand what youre asking for, but WANT to do it. This is what puts Sit Means Sit a level up from other dog training.Toms patience is inexhaustible and his knowledge of dogs, unparalleled. He has helped me to work through and overcome every behavioral issue Ive encountered with my own dogs, and Ive seen him make impressive progress with other dogs that had serious fear, reactivity, separation anxiety, etc.The structure of the program - beginning with private one-on-one lessons before graduating to group class - helps set your dog up for success, allowing you both to practice the basics before gradually adding more distractions and challenges. I have been surprised at how quickly each of my dogs has responded to the training. We attend group classes regularly; they continue to master new skills and it provides them with much-needed mental stimulation.Because of our training at Sit Means Sit, Im able to take my dogs anywhere - stores, doctors offices, dog-friendly restaurant patios, parks, other peoples houses. Strangers comment on how well-behaved they are and ask, How do you do that?! That, to me, is a testament to Tom and Sit Means Sit. This is a program that REALLY works. There are many offerings beyond basic obedience, including the AKC Canine Good Citizen evaluation, pack walks, brewery manners and more. With the foundation youll build here, there are no limits to what you and your dog can do together.Worth every penny. Recommended without hesitation.
One of the best feelings as a dog owner is when you are out with other people and their own fur babies but they can’t stop commenting on how well behaved yours is. That is all thanks to everyone at Sit Means Sit. The training was clear, the expectations were given and everyone is so helpful and responsive. One of the main things that out Sit Means Sit above the others is that they don’t just throw you into group classes. The training package comes with four individual sessions for YOU (yes you the owner) so that you are confident in your ability to take charge of all future training. I highly recommend!
My husband and I first met Tommy in 2021 when we took our new rescue for a consult due to be fear reactive. Not only did Tommy help improve Kyros life, he helped improve ours. Tommy is impressively skilled in reactive dogs and is patient with them. The way he transformed Kyro was remarkable. We were able to take him out in public and around other dogs with no issues.Tommy and the teams love for their clients is unmeasurable and goes far beyond on the training room. When Kyro got sick, Tommy and Meg ensured we never felt alone in our journey and helped us modify our training to what Kyro could handle. Even after he passed, the team ensured we were not alone. We are excited to start a new chapter with our new Puppy, which of course includes Tommy, Meg and now Colleen.I cannot express how much I recommend this group of individuals for any dog training needs. Theyre patient, understanding and remarkable with dogs. They truly care for their clients.
Highly recommend Sit Means Sit for behavior modification for reactive dogs. My 4 yr old terrier mix was becoming increasingly reactive to other dogs and to people. Tom has helped turn that around. He is extremely knowledgeable, patient and effectively communicates what is expected and needed to get the job done. The individualized attention is well worth the cost of the program. Phoebe (and I) still have a way to go but we are looking forward to continued improvements with group classes! Thank you Tom!
If you put in a little work outside of classes you get the results your looking for. Every one of the trainers and staff are very friendly and helpful. When I am out with my dog and I see other people struggling with their dog I am so happy I went to Sit Means Sit. Definitely worth the investment.
We had a great experience with Sit Means Sit! We debated using a team that boards and trains but opted for Sit Means Sit lessons. We know training isn’t just dog the dog but also to teach us how to help our girl. We like how we learn what Checkers learned during her training. We are shown what to do and given homework. We are all growing. We are encouraged to call/text whenever there’s a question or problem. Meg answers quickly and thoroughly.Pros: Personalized, knowledgeable trainers, open communication, different real world training situations, and community.
Dont walk, RUN to Sit Means Sit if your dog (or you!) needs training. I rescued an adult dog during COVID who was the last at the shelter and no one would foster because he was scary and aggressive. He was reactive on the leash and I was scared if he ever got to another dog. And I had never had a dog so no clue where to start. Fast forward to meeting Tom - who taught us how to handle him, how to be confident and give him confidence and direction. When I say this dog is the most loving and docile dog now, it is an understatement. He was just scared and confused and needed guidance. He now can be off leash with other dogs and weve adopted a second rescue that he is so patient with. Our second dog, is more of a handful than our first. We thought, we know what were doing now and Nixi said, ha, wait til you see this! She is a high drive, high energy, bossy girl who needs totally different things than our first. So back to SMS we went and they have worked wonders on helping us understand how best to meet her needs and how to handle different situations. Both dogs and us are always a work in progress, but life would be wildly different and mostly unmanageable with our two fur-babies if it wasnt for Tom, Meg and the SMS team! They truly care about their clients and their dogs. Highly highly recommend and will be back if my husband ever lets me adopt another dog :)
Our dogs 1st two lessons have changed our home life completely. Still needing to work on leash walking but thats more on us and the weather. This place and trainers are a true game changers. I would highly recommend!!!
When we first went to sit means sit, I knew my dog was controlling my life more than I controlled hers. But after a few weeks of training I truly feel like I have a much better control over my dog. I can. I can truly say that my dog feels less like a burden and more feels like an indefinite part of my life. From the bottom of my heart, I want to say thank you for giving me this ability to be around my dog without her controlling my life.
Sit Means Sit Buffalo to me stands behind all they say and do! I am so grateful to have Thomas,Caitlin and Meg as my support team. I am working with them and my 16m now 18m old Rottweiler who has a bit more drive then my previous Rotts. The team has working with myself to be a better leader to my dog and they are giving tools to also make my dog a happier pup. I appreciate this team and the challenges they are pushing me through. As I say this is a Marathon not a Sprint and these 6 weeks have been trying, but if you put the work in you will see results as I am now and I enjoy the progression and am awaiting what is ahead, I may not get Gold Metal at the end but a Silver shows we are getting there and will continue on not matter how long, this team I know will carry us for as long as I need them, thank you again to all of them....Linda, Mike and Church
I couldn’t recommend enough!! Trainers are so very helpful and knowledgeable. They will do everything they can to give you a positive experience and success. We saw immediate results after just one week. We had tried training before with different trainers and online courses and were very discouraged by the results. Sit means sit was the answer!! We enjoy our dogs more than ever! We are able to take them places we would never have attempted before. If you’re in need of training for your dogs this is the place to go! Couldn’t be more pleased.
My dog is a very nervous rescue dog. We tried different kinds of trainings (a couple of personal trainers with a boot camp, even tried some anti-anxiety meds!) some helped but didn’t go so well and we had kind of given up havinv our social life at my house. Now I am quite comfortable inviting my friends over (still a beginning!) and know how to deal and help this poor dog.Thank you so much, Tom!
I love the team here because everyone is so attentive and listens/answers every question I have. I was desperate when I got my dog bc I could not control his behavior and did not know how to. Now he is a whole new dog and we work so well together. We both have learned so much and will continue to learn throughout our next few classes and I’m excited for what is to come
We have nothing but great things to say about Sit Means Sit Dog Training. They know what they are doing. We adopted a blind and deaf dog who is a 5 month old puppy. She is wonderful but training would have been nearly impossible for us without help. She is now walking like a champ, using the backbyard for potty and gets along great with everyone she meets. We cannot recommend this training facility enough.Thank you Tommy and Colleen for all you have done for our family. Even with working individually with our youngest daughter to help her feel completely at ease with Evie.
We had a great experience at Sit Means Sit. Simply put, Caitlin is amazing! She’s incredibly knowledgeable, positive, and patient, and gave us the tools we needed to continue training our dog. The entire staff is wonderful. They were helpful and always available to answer our questions. I highly recommend them!
Excellent experience with my almost 2 1/2 year old smart, stubborn and big bundle of love, poodle. The people there love dogs and it shows. Their method is rewarding the positive behaviors you want and the training is as much for we humans to be consistent, timely and patient. The SMS team continually checked to be sure I too was doing things correctly and helped me ( I guess Im as distractable as my dog be LOL!). They are also very responsive to text messages if you have questions and get stuck. I highly recommend and cant wait for the next part of our training in groups!
Sit Means Sit is an incredible dog training program! I have so many amazing things to say. My dog, Daisy, entered this program with extreme reactivity to other dogs and impulse control issues. I had trouble gaining control over her, and she used to practically drag me down the street during our walks. After 9 months of training with Sit Means Sit, the improvement in Daisys behavior is astounding! Now she sits in a room full of other dogs every Saturday during group class, and Daisy is virtually unfazed. I even look forward to our every day walks, because I know I am in complete control! My everyday life with Daisy has improved because of our training in this program. Tom is extremely patient with both Daisy and myself, and has helped instill confidence in the both of us during our training. He takes the extra time and attention to help all of his clients and their dogs. Highly recommend!
The team at Sit Means Sit has worked WONDERS for my dog, Bridget! She is 6 years old and has never had any training as a puppy (due to previous owner) so we were quite literally trying to teach an old dog new tricks. My husband and I could barely get her out of the car and walk 3 feet to the door without getting completely mauled, dragged, or jumped on. Now after a few private lessons, her and I can just casually go for walks like normal people! The vast improvements Bridget has made through this program have honestly brought me to tears. I am so happy, I cant thank them enough!!!
Wow!!! What a change in Mira! No more twirling and lunging at other dogs. Walking is so much better with her now. She loves coming to training! I can’t thank the staff enough, always helpful and very patient with training the dog and the human!
We started training with Tom last summer for our Aussie/border collie mix, Charlotte. Unfortunately around the age of 7 months Charlotte became extremely fearful of men and she started showing signs of fear aggression. She would lunge and try to bite any male that walked through our house. After being referred to Tom by Kindermutt, we signed up for the private and group lessons and they have been life changing! Charlotte is now disciplined and we can have people over knowing that she will stay in her designated spot and not hurt anyone. To anyone who is weary of shock collars, I understand, however they are an amazing tool to communicate with your dog. Tom actually made us feel the top shock prior to using it with our pup. I don’t think this level of progress would have been made without using a shock collar.Sit means sit and Tom have brought peace and hope back into our lives! It has been worth every penny.
We are beyond grateful to Tom and his staff. I honestly cannot believe how far we’ve come in 6 weeks. I have learned so much and gained confidence in my ability to have a safe, welll controlled best friend.
SMS was excellent for my dog, Everest. You can go back yourself and see the changes he made in the videos SMS has posted on their social media. Everest has always been a good boy but hes a goofball and stubborn. After just 4 days of day camp classes, he listens so well, he can relax when hed usually be over-excited, and the walking changes has been monumental. Tom and Caitlyn were both great trainers (for both my dog AND me!) and I could tell how much Everest respects them just by how they all interacted. We start group classes soon and I cant wait to see what he learns next.
The best decision we made sending our golden retriever puppy to Sit Means Sit!!!Excellent staff, very accommodating and most importantly they really have a genuine love and caring for the dogs!We now have a well behaved dog!
Amazing experience all around. From onboarding to the private lessons, everything was top notch and the lessons we learned allowed us to learn as dog owners and for our dog Penny to learn as well. 10/10 would recommend.
My dog is extremely dog reactive. Sit means sit has cut that in half in the past four months. We arent as scared to go out places with our dog anymore, and look forward to continuing to train more with sit means sit! I wish we would have found them sooner!!!!
After just one lesson my dog now loads into the car without hesitation, and is more engaged and genuinely attentive to me. I am a full believer in the Sit Means Sit method and would highly recommend them to others!
Sit Means Sit Buffalo has helped our big Saint Bernard Eeyore so much. Thank you.
Sit Means Sit Dog Training was excellent. They work with you and your pet for what your particular needs are. I would highly recommend them.
Great training! My dog instantly took to the trainer. He was clear, concise, and well educated. I wholeheartedly recommend Sit Means Sit!
I will forever be thankful to the staff (especially Colleen) at SMS Buffalo for their help with my pup. My dog was well taken care of and I noticed behavioral changes after just one visit. You guys are the best!
Tom at sit means sit is great. My fiance found this place and weve found the training to be well worth it. We go to regular classes which are very valuable for our dog.
Our rescue dog Janie pulled on walks and jumped on people when she was excited, after 5 sessions she is a completely different dog w the collar on here 🙂. We still have a ways to go but WOW what a differnce!!
My 10 month old labradoodle, Sonny, learned very quickly. When I practiced at home with him it was like he had been doing each training session all of his life. Surprised me. Now I’m going to train my 5 year old labradoodle so I can get the 2 of them synchronized.
Can’t even big to say what an amazing dog trainer Tommy is. He cares about every client and dog. He is impressive on not only how handles each dog but also how he teaches each client.
Had the pleasure of meeting Tommy of Sit Means Sit, two dog Trainer a of a like mindset. Would recommend his Services.
I can’t say enough good things about sit means sit. I was very nervous becuase my dog is deaf so I needed the best of the best. They were so patient and caring towards my dog. After just one session I saw a difference. After 5 sessions it was like I had a different dog. To say I recomend them is an understatement.
Very very appreciative for the hard work this staff put in helping us make Evie the best pup she could be 🐕🦺
Tom and team do a great job working with dogs, especially reactive ones
Very patient and understanding. If something wasn’t working, Tom always had a different tactic to get the point across.
Everyone here is wonderful. One thing people should know is that the program teaches owners how to be owners and pets how to be pets.
There are no words. Our boy still needs work, but the improvement weve seen not only with him, but with how we handle situations is immeasurable.
I honestly cant say enough about the team here and all that they do to help dogs.
Sit Means Sit has been absolutely amazing with my dog Frankie. He has already learned so much, and most importantly he has learned self control in the last 4 weeks of his day training! I would also like to mention how amazing the staff, and Frankie’s trainer has been! They will love your dog as their own when you walk through that door ! I can’t wait to see how much more Frankie will grow in the next couple months !
Hands down the best training anywhere
My male siblings were aggressive towards each other. Not wanting to pick one over the other, I found Sit Means Sit and gave them a call. The staff was so friendly and worked with my boys and I to help us all feel more at ease. They are so patient and understanding and are truly there to help address whatever issues you may have. I would highly recommend them!
Just amazing!! My Tobi is a different dog!
Very professional very friendly. Cant wait to train my dog here.
When we first adopted Derby he destroyed our living room when he was left alone. He ripped up carpet, tore down blinds, and chewed the doorknob off the door. Our ottomans were shredded and we were worried our couch would be next. When we tried to put him in his kennel we quickly found out he was absolutely terrified of it. I dont mean would have a bit of a tantrum I mean a complete shrieking heart attack meltdown. Our neighbors told us no matter how long we were gone the howling and shrieking wouldnt stop, from when we left until when we got home.My worries werent just for my stuff. He could easily swallow something dangerous or hurt himself in his panic. Not being able to be in a kennel means vet visits, groomers, boarding, all of that is off the table or much more difficult, not to mention not being able to use the kennel for its intended purpose as a safe spot for an anxious dog. I have loads of experience with rehabbing behavior issues with animals but this was way, WAY above my ability.Tom with Sit Means Sit Buffalo had him straight in 5 weeks. We could safely leave him alone, were on our way to having him happy with the kennel again, and just as a nice bonus, hes off leash trained with a killer recall. And now a year later of classes hes a happy, confident, fun little dog who loves training, tricks and hikes. Hes learned manners with other dogs, confidence with new people, and loads of other skills that make living with him and having him in public a dream.I HIGHLY recommend this trainer.
I called and left a message a week ago and have not received a call back.
You can see the behavior improvements after every class
Communication is clear and open. Definitely recommend
Obedient dogs obey!
Awesome job
I started my dog with Sit Means Sit, Tom Longnecker, when she was a puppy three years ago. He was recommended to me by my veterinarian. From day one I have been nothing but impressed with Toms knowledge, expertise in all dog breeds and his willingness and ability to work with and improve behaviors in every dog. Tom has multiple certifications and years of experience training dogs. Initially I just wanted basic training for my German Shepherd. She was going to be a big dog and I needed her to be socialized and well behaved. Tom provided that training. What I handnt thought about was my need to be trained to train my dog; to be the leader and in control and not let my dog control me. Toms instructions to ME have given me the confidence to handle my dog and provide her with the confidence and guidance she needs. I was so happy with the training, I decided to continue to take my dog to classes every week. We continually learn new skills, tricks and obedience. I am happy and my dog is happy. I can walk my dog off leash in many situations and when she is on leash she is well behaved. I walk the dog, she doesnt walk me. Tom has helped to make owning my impulsive German Shepherd so enjoyable. I will recommend Tom Longnecker and his Sit Means Sit to anyone and everyone.
Enrolling our pup in training with Tom at Sit Means Sit has been hands down the best decision. After only a couple sessions our dog learned to place and stay on command and is a dream to take on walks - no pulling or jumping! This has been worth the investment and we will absolutely return with future dogs. Highly recommend!
