First time using this vet due to an emergency and convenience of availability. Dr. Christine was awesome with my min pin and staff was very accommodating. Also received the cutest gift bag on the way out. Very appreciative of the care.
I love my vet. Donna is the best, beyond the best. She has known us since puppy stage and always welcomes us with hospitality and grace, making us feel like VCA family. Dr Hexter is phenomenal. Always explains everything to a T, with excellent bedside manner and leaves us feeling heard. I have had nothing but wonderful experiences boarding and caring for our pets.
I have been using VCA since 2018 when I was seeking a second opinion on a skin issue for a dog and I haven’t left since. I have had 6 pets come through here (5 dogs and 1 cat). I have also used their boarding services multiple times. I would use them over and over again. Prices are reasonable, they do not pressure you to spend money, appointments are convenient, care club is worth the cost.I credit this practice, and especially, Dr. Hexter, with saving my Great Dane’s life. Last week we came in with a simple gastric upset complaint but Dr. Hexter was concerned about her heart and immediately sent us to a higher level of care where she ultimately crashed and nearly died. She needed 4 days inpatient in that hospital in order for her to live. Fortunately, because of Dr. Hexter’s clinical skills and quick recommendations she was able to be diagnosed (Addison’s Disease), treated, and will make a full recovery. Through the whole ordeal he was available by phone to answer questions and follow up with me multiple times. When it didn’t seem she would make it he was compassionate and caring. The support staff, especially Donna and Nicole, are always very professional and were also compassionate through this crisis. They offered kind words and thoughtfulness when it didn’t seem my dog would pull through. When her condition turned around for the better they were all just as excited for us as we were. This practice could have easily just taken my money for all kinds of testing but instead of nickel-and-diming me, they just wanted what was medically best for my pet which was intensive care hospitalizationn.A similar circumstance happened in 2020 with another Great Dane. While that dog could not be saved Dr. Shanker was available by his personal cell phone and offered genuineness and support through her crisis as well.In 2021, my husky needed to be euthanized and we used VCA for this. Again, the staff was so compassionate and took care of all of his cremation arrangements as well as hair and paw print keepsakes. If you are looking for a vet that will genuinely care about you and your pets as if they were their own try VCA Orange County.
I am going to have to give some love to this place. It is right by my house, so I went with my little dog. I had to make the horrible decision to put him down due to his old age and suffering, and I was terrified about how things would go. I did not want him to suffer. I did not want the staff to be apathetic and too business. I have never put down an animal, so I Googled what to expect. The team here exceeded expectations. They quickly went through the needed procedure. I was able to pay before my baby went to sleep, they gave him to me all wrapped up before they gave the injection, and they allowed me to sit in a grieving room and say my last goodbye. He was sleeping within 30 seconds of the injection. The staff talked softly to me during the process and gave their condolences. They were super compassionate. I worked in a hospital, and I have seen practitioners show less grace to grieving humans than these people showed to me. I am grateful for the care they gave to my baby and me, and I felt like I could say goodbye with respect and dignity. Thank all of you. You were great.
Dr Ferrao is a wonderful doctor. She has treated my dogs successfully from ear infections to teeth extractions and all types of issues over the years. I am so grateful for the treatment for them. She’s professional, kind and knowledgeable in her field. Thank you VCA for her and all your wonderful staff and doctors at the Goshen Nee York facility.
When a place feels like a corporate business you know this isnt the place for your pets. I will not be coming back to this specific VCA anymore. I brought in my two dogs for an annual checkup/vaccine and stool test. $74 each vaccine, vetco/petco does for $30. Stool cost me $200 each, I paid two appointments for a 20 minute visit ($100 each pet) when usually you bring two dogs for the same appointment you arent charged twice. They took my dogs to the back room without me so I didnt see anything going on. I could hear a loud incident with my dog and I heard the vet techs say is he ok are you ok yet when they brought him back to me they didnt mention anything at all. I called the next morning at 8:30 AM to cancel the stool testing but I was told it was too late to cancel which probably isnt true but they didnt care to try. At the end I dont feel good about this place especially considering they do not discuss any price whatsoever before rendering services. I walked in with two healthy dogs and walked out with a $1,200 bill. I am disgusted. I am aware of the costs associated with pet care ( I have pet insurance for my pets) however VCA knows this and takes advantage of the customers love for their pets. Please find a vet that actually cares about animals and the local community.
We have been using this Vet for almost a decade. Their prices have gotten excessive for the treatment being performed. Costs to treat your dog for annual checkups and cleanings are significantly higher than several years ago over 100% increase for cleaning and extraction. Thankfully there are other quality vet providers in the area that provide quality service for affordable rates.
We took our beloved dog here on several occasions. While the business does charge a premium for their services, my family found that the doctors were patient and considerate. They welcomed questions and took the time to explain their diagnoses/recommendations carefully. When it came time to pursue euthanasia, the doctors and staff were unbelievably kind and compassionate; they gave my family a private room to have a few last moments together with our friend. They were respectful and waited to charge us until his ashes were returned. Overall, based on my experience, I would highly recommend this veterinary clinic.
We absolutely loved the actual service and staff that rendered them. However, at our first visit the front desk spoke with us about their monthly care plan and sold it as full coverage. That paid for all your reg visits, shots and yearly meds.We recently moved out of state and on our last visit I informed them and asked the to have the service canceled. They said sure. And I kept getting billed the first time I thought it was just behind they bill me an additional 3 months. When I contacted them and asked I thought it would be an easy fix, right?!Wrong they said the monthly fee wasnt covering the services. And there was an balance due. That odd isnt it. I paid into a monthly plan that covered everything...What they actually do is bill you for the entire visit for which your monthly payment pays over time, not explained that way at all at the point of sale. Ok sure that has happened before. But usually when you cancel a service if theres a balance its generally told to you at that point. Right wrong they will just bill you. When you complain they will just reply you signed the contract. Good luck with that.
The staff and doctors are absolutely amazing. Theyre very personable and make sure you understand. My boyfriend and I used to take our pup elsewhere but ever since we started coming here we will never look again. They try as hard as they can to make an appointment work around your schedule and always greet you with a smile. I would recommend them to anyone. We drive 45 minutes just to come here, Ill never trust anyone else with my pets.
Ive been bringing my dogs there for years. Dr. Shanker is awesome. Dr. Yates was pretty rude to my mother on a recent visit. The rest of the staff has been very pleasant. Waiting room is large and clean. Generally can get appointments quickly and short wait times. Bill often seems to be hundreds of dollars for routine visits but I have nothing to compare to as Ive never used another vet.
My dog recently got ill and his vet refused to see him saying they were too busy. I called this place at 4pm. They got me in the next morning at 8:30, I was shocked to have such a quick appointment. The vet was fantastic, very thorough and put me at ease without ever meeting her. It’s hard to trust a new vet during this pandemic without ever meeting them but this vet made it easy. I called in with additional questions about the meds a few days later and got very prompt responses. I believe I have found my guys new vet and look forward to great service again in the future.
An amazing vet with the most compassionate workers. They were so kind and empathetic when we had to put our dog to rest. They truly care about their patients.
I cannot say enough about this place. We bring all of our dogs here (4) and will keep bringing them. Services are affordable and there are no surprises with the bills. All of the vets I’ve had the pleasure to work with are competent and confident. The support staff is always respectful and helpful. They are compassionate as well. I feel like pets are part of their family. I wish I knew or could remember everyone’s name current and past but some of the highlights include support staff Nicole, Dr. B, Dr. Metzger, Dr. Shanker, and others. There’s a tech forgive me I don’t know their name, mature person with short peppered hair…always kind and thorough. Not every appointment can be a happy one but they try hard to make the hard ones easy on us. 10/10!
An amazing place to bring your pets. They take care of our dogs as if they were their own. When our dog Vera passed they gave us time to say goodbye and even helped set up the cremation. Now they treat our new puppy Sadie so well she loves going to the vets office. Also when we thought our pup swallowed something she shouldnt have, the Dr went above and beyond to do research on her own time to find out it was a type of worms rarely seen at such a young age(pup was 9 months old).
My cat is extremely anxious and requires medication for her vet visits. We prepare in advance. I made an appointment for her weeks in advance for a specific issue and sent the labs with the date and time of the visit as the subject line on the same day. This appointment was given to me because I was told the vet can assist us. Great! Day of appointment, we go through our routine of getting the cat medicated, get in her the carrier, listen to her protest the entire car ride and call the vets office to say we’ve arrived. They said they could’nt see us because we were late. WHHAATT??? We arrived exactly on time. Somehow at some point my 8:50 appointment was changed to 8:30 and I was told a confirmation call was put out you yesterday. I was told they were short staffed on Saturdays and could not accommodate us. The office kept putting me on hold so I walked into the building and people were just standing there looking at a computer. They were more concerned about there schedule than anything else. A third person comes out and says that they just looked at my blood work that I sent THREE WEEKS AGO and said that the doctor could not help my cat for her issue. I just walked out. I have never encountered a vets office that was so uninterested in the overall well-being of my pet. Never once did they ask about her.I work with physicians and I deal with patients with complex issues. When the paperwork is sent-it is reviewed. If we can’t help them we are not going to waste your time. I understand the need to stay on schedule but this giant office error should never have happened at all.
Dr Farrao is absolutely amazing! Our 2 kitty babies (now 12 years old) have never been in better care. We moved out of the area and miss her dearly. One of our girls has a lot of anxiety when going to the vet, but absolutely melted when Dr Ferrao was doing her check ups. We were always able to refill their flea medication easily and all of the staff is incredibly friendly, compassionate, and helpful. Thanks to all of you so much for taking such amazing care of our precious girls!
I took my Rhodesian Ridgeback here for a exam. I have had some issues in the past with other clinics handling my dog. He has the typical aloof personality and at times can react negatively when scared. I was very pleased with my visit and will be returning back. Veterinarian Ann Yates and Vet Tech Pete were a pleasure to work with. They listened to my handling concerns, did not rush through the exam, were very helpful, caring and informative. The appointment went smoothly with no issues. The staff is kind as well and the facility is clean.
Took our cat, Snap, for an annual checkup. After a 5 second exam, the new vet told me that she would need her teeth cleaned and an extraction or two for about $1,200. So, Snap is just 4 years old, very healthy and was fed a low sugar diet. The vet said the cats breath smelled but we couldnt smell anything. The vet pointed to a cavity but it just looked like her gum. When I asked him to check the cats ears, he said that he already did but my wife and I missed it. When I said that Snap sometimes holds up her right paw, he said that it was normal for some cats and he didnt bother to examine at her paw.The exam and 2 shots cost nearly $200.My previous review is below.Took Snap for her annual check up and shots. the waiting room was well appointed and the receptionist was friendly and helpful. The vet expertly checked Snap and administrated the shots. Snaps vet visit was a complete success.
Have always been very happy. Going to them for 20+ years. Last visit left me feeling its becoming more about money. Will continue to go and hope Im wrong. Great puppy package.
Absolute BEST vet I’ve EVER used! I have a cat and dog and they are so helpful and personable you don’t feel like ur at an appointment and instead going to see some friends 😂they r great with my animals and I’ve already recommended them to friends and would highly recommend them to anyone looking for a vet!!
I have now been here on 2 seperate occasions both times meeting different vets and nurses. Both times were very short waits. The waiting room is very clean and nice. When you are called in to the room you see a nurse immediately and they do an initial check on your pet before the vet sees it. When they are done its a fairly short wait before being seen by the vet. Both of the vets that I have interacted with as well as the nurses and the ladies at the front counter were all very nice and helpful with any questions that I had. All that and the bill at the end of each visit was cheaper then I expected it to be. Great vet I will defiantly be using them going forward.
Wednesday, my family brought their dog, to this hospital by their house. He was crying and not acting normal . The vet told them (just by feeling his stomach) that he had an intestinal blockage w internal bleeding. Said for X-rays it would be $1000+ & another 6000+ for the surgery. They decided to leave because something didn’t seem right. As they were leaving the vet said that the dog would be dead within the morning.Thursday, they took him to another vet for a second opinion. The vet said that he must have eaten something that didn’t agree with him, gave him antibiotics and sent them on their way. said the dog has his entire life to live & is healthy. Please don’t send your dogs to vets that are money hungry. Find a vet that truly loves animals and wants to help them. He is 10x better today .Do not trust your animals w these people. Apparently they used to be an amazing vet but now since some big company took over, they’re clearly- horrible.
Could not have been easier, they didnt push us to purchase anything more than we had to (they easily could have) They were super friendly on the phone and in person. Shoutout to Dr. BAlso they GAVE us a cat carrier for free, so we didnt have to struggle to get our large very nervous cat back into his cat bag 😂 thank you!
Vet was great. Took extra time to explain all results and possibilities for our pet. The staff are all very pleasant and professional.
VCA is an amazing hospital. Their doctors work as a team to care for my dog, Faye. Dr. Samantha Metzer is a professional, knowledgeable and kind veterinarian. Thank you Nicola for always being patient and caring. I wish I knew everyones name who care for Faye when she stays at the boarding facility attached to the vet office. Perhaps its not as good as sleeping in her king size bed at home, but my husband and I know we can travel and Faye is fondly cared for and safe.Thank you everyone!
I called this morning because my 16 year old pitbull, Tyson was panting and couldnt move. We had to carry him in a blanket. The staff brought him in and gave us the unfortunate news that we knew was coming. They really did their best considering the current covid circumstances. They were very patient and understanding. It was especially difficult because we were there as a family my 17yr old son, and they allowed us to take the time we needed to say our goodbyes. I truly appreciate your office seeing us today and helping us to allow our boy to peacefully go to doggy heaven.
Good quality of Vets, but VERY expensive !!One cat needed a molar Removed, $1000and the other 2 year old cat needed 2 molar extraction... $1200$1000 for 1 tooth ??FOR THAT PRICE, I WOULD EXPECT A 14K GOLD REPLACEMENT TOOTH!!Their pricing is at least double of what it should be !!!I had it done for $600 and $650 in the next town over...My co-worker told me this is the most expensive Vet in Orange county Now I finally believe him, after going here for 4 years.....
Way overpriced for a vet. The people are nice. And they have updated equipment. But they never called me back when they said they would. And I got sick of paying 300-500per visit. For routine stuff. They do unnecessary procedures. When I can go to another vet in town. That costs under 100 bucks
Great group that takes best care of your pet. They follow all Covid safety requirements. Call in to front desk upon arrival. After visit is completed . You receive a call and all info with regard to your pet...you can be also order pet meds through VCA and have them delivered right to your home.
Everyone is very nice. Sometimes you have to wait past appointment times, but overall I have had good experiences there. Waiting room is large enough to keep your distance between animals.
I needed this place when I had to euthanize my friend, Shaq. He was a member of my family and a protector of my kids when he had to be. The staff at the Orange County VCA was so caring it touched my heart. I cant put into words how much they helped me in that difficult decision and experience. I dont know if theyll see this but, Thank you.
Weve taken our cats there over the years. We find them very compassionate and very professional. Theyre not in it just for the money.
This is a GREAT office. They helped me so much & made my cat’s first vet visit so easy. The techs & doctor were so nice, knowledgeable & helpful & Ember, the office manager is just fantastic! Thank you guys so much for helping me & my cat!!!!!
Careful. They mark up drugs big-time even though claiming to be competitive. Was told by Shenker my dog would get a new shot to help with arthritis...and that I had to come in for him to get it. They wouldnt initially give me a script for it. So I did it once. Came back second time and got the details from the tech that it was Adequan. New??? I had gotten a script from a previous vet 2 years prior. And they wanted to charge $42/ml. Valley vet sells for $12/cc. Same stats with all the other drugs, vaccines, and supplements. Its egregious. Large animal vets have clinics and they home deliver at a 20% markup. Had gone there for years until my vet left. Ill be taking business elsewhere from now on.
When looking for a veterinarian i highly recommend Alan Shanker and his staff. They show caring and compasion for are two dogs. This past sixteen months Alan and his staff have cared for Sadie who was diagnosed with bladder cancer. Doctor Shanker presented us with the statics an life expectancy of dogs with bladder tumors. He presented us with a choice to remove only the large tumor on sadies bladder . He could not remove all the tumor. We chose the surgery. Sadie , ran, barked and played for ten more months. My family can not thank ovch staff enough.
Really really friendly vet. I liked the welcome white board with my cats name on it.
**HORROR EXPERIENCE**I told my mother to bring my cat here to get de-wormed, since I moved to the city and cant do it myself.Vet Elizabeth Wardell, and her assistant apparently full on JAMMED a metal pill administering utensil repeatedly down the back of my cats mouth, causing her to bleed in the back of the mouth and on her palate.Wardels assistant even said that she may have broken a tooth during the session!!It saddens me just to type that out...She is only 6 pounds.I have been giving my cats and my friends cats dewormer pills since I was 12, it is the EASIEST thing to do and they ruined my cats mouth over it!? what the actual hell!?!?!I am so upset and my mother is calling me telling me how upset she is, how traumatizing it all was and how my cat hasnt left her crate or eaten since the appointment, which has been over 6 hours now.To think I trusted my most dearest, most outgoing cat to this so-called professional, Vet Elizabeth Wardel.....these people are incompetent monsters!
The entire staff, veterinarians, vet techs and assistants and front desk people are awesome. All are most knowledgeable, professional and compassionate. I highly recommend them.
New dog, new Vets but will adjust as time goes by. Oreo was a bit nervous and doesnt like nails cut.
I take all of my cats here ever since I moved to Orange County. I can almost always get a good appointment and the proximity to town is outstanding.
Took care of my 3 dogs all at one appointment. Helpful and worked out all of the charges BEFOREhand.
Very clean, very nice staffMy pup felt happy and joyful. Perfect
They took great care of my dog at two in the morning. Polite, caring, and professional medical staff.
Take very good care of my dog. Accommodating to my dog because he doesnt like waiting in the waiting room so will come get us outside.
This place is great and the staff is wonderful. They genuinely show care and compassion for your animals.

Caring professional attention given to all the pets I have ever brought there during well visits and end of life. Full service veterinary hospital.
They make you feel part of the healthcare team. You make the final decision and you don’t feel guilty with your decision
Compassion and kindness, from the moment you walk inside the building. I’m so glad I found them.
Nicest people. We are very grateful for the care they gave our Boomer.
Great doctor saved me a ton of money on my kittens last visit
People are very friendly and professional.. I am changing my veterinian to here love them..
I’m very upset with one of there employees Amanda Goodwin . I recently had a couple of unfortunate events happen in my life and posted a photo trying to rehome my puppies and she went and copied the photo and wrote something in regards to my dogs are not disposable. Your right their not but at this time I can’t care for them so for her to say something like this is disgusting not knowing someone’s situation. She needs to be fired for doing something like that.
Staff is very courteous and my dog is always well taken care of!
A bit expensive but animals are treated great and the grooming did a great job
The best vets and the sweetest staff in all of orange county! 💗
Expensive, even if you have the monthly plan, staff are great
Professional and courteous staff.Fairly priced.Clean facility.
Very expensive but does a great job. We have used them less of late because of the price, but paid them a visit lately and staff was nice and doctor very attentive. If you can afford it, I would recommend.
Theyr very good. Im very happy with the service

Most compassionate pet people I ever met!
Very kind and caring veterinarians
Been to a couple of vets in the area. This place is the best. They give extra care and attention to your pets. Only place I trust to keep my cats in great health.
The groomer here is great! He explained all my concerns in detail for what our dog needed. Loved the results!
Amazing office, vets, vet techs, and staff. Everyone was so kind to us and treated my little pup really well.
Love this vet great with my pup Cookie
They are very over priced.I like things simple when I go to the vet for routine or sick visit. I nor my dog need to feel like we are at a spa. But in this age of designer dogs and pets I guess VCA is just catering to and profiting on this lunacy, andmaking an extra few bucks because of it.
Best care for your animals
Great staff. They take wonderful care of our dog.
