Dr. Stanbock is quite honestly the best veterinarian we’ve ever had the pleasure of knowing & bearing witness to caring for our pups, whether for well visits & check ups to a recent trauma of our lab being struck by a hit & run. He is so knowledgeable and thorough but not an alarmist; he just gets it and is 100% in the right vocation. I wish he could be the doctor for the humans in our family too. His entire staff is second to none (well, Tracey and Dr. Meekins at the shelter definitely have the calling, care & competence too, and yesterday and today we were reminded of the good people of East Quogue and that it indeed, takes a village. We are humbled and grateful and extend out heartfelt thanks to everyone who took part in getting our pups home safe & sound; but as far as a full service veterinarian, Good Ground Hospital is without question, the only place to take your beloved furry children. I would love to mention the staff by name whether it’s making an appointment, taking out a catheter, listening to us fretting and ruminating and calming us with informed answers and plans for healing, Dr. Stanbock, Jen, Monica, Ashley and forgive me for not remembering the two technicians’ names from today, but every one of them have equal parts competence and compassionate caring hearts. Thank you for your grace. Here’s to paying it forward and lifting each other up.
My first visit to this wonderful veterinary practice as well as my first and likely only google or yelp review. From my initial call until the conclusion of my visit today, there wasn’t a break in communication or task unexecuted flawlessly in a professional, knowledgeable, friendly manner in a somewhat complex process I needed executed. International Health Certificate. Exceptional! And I believe Ford showed his enthusiasm as well. Job well done to all. Clients and their pets were terrific as well. Thank you.
Yes would really love to share my experience, funny to say it was all over phone , nicest staff and vet he was so cordial and understanding great place to take your pet! I recommend them what a difference from my old place !
Highly highly recommend. The staff is friendly and they are accommodating with scheduling. Also, their pricing is fair and reasonable - which sounds funny to say for a vet office but its true!. Dr. Spanbock took the time to explain pros and cons of procedures & medications/vaccines with me in a way that made me feel like he truly cares about doing the right thing, and not just pushing things on you as I have felt other vets do. He is a true professional and I could not recommend them more!
Trust and respect Dr. Swanson wholeheartedly. Highly recommend. First vet experience my very scared dog has ever had that was very positive. They are honest, transparent and really wonderful. Can’t say enough great things and recommend enough. Really grateful to have found them!
I cant say enough about Dr. Spanbock and his staff. My German Shepard has many issues. He used to get irritable at his last vet, because they were afraid of him. It was always stressful to go just for a simple visit. At Good Ground he is calm and lets them do what they have to. They are calm, caring people. I couldnt be more grateful for there professional mannerism. I am so relieved that I have a place to go, that I can trust 100 percent. Thank you so much.
All our pet dogs 🐶 go to this clinic. They are kind, compassionate, and truly give outstanding care. Affordable prices and great customer service.
Before I begin, let me state I have not been compensated in any way for this review. I rarely ever post a review for something or someone! Something exceptional ( or exceptionally bad) has to occur for me to sit down and write anything. I am just a local resident of East Quogue with a puppy, Molley Rey Cyrus Jackson. Molley Rey has been a patient of Good Ground for almost 10 years, and until 3 days ago I never really thought about it, but I HAVE NEVER HAD 1 BAD EXPERIENCE WITH WITH GOOD GROUND (NOT EVEN A LITTLE ONE)!!! Molley Reys insurance company was requesting 3 years of invoices to assist with a claim I recently filed. I actually got really nervous at the thought of walking into Good Ground and requesting such an extensive amount of documentation from Jen, head of claims at Good Ground. When I requested the information, Jen did not hesitate, become annoyed, or give any indication that this was a bothersome task. She was so nice and accommodating it actually threw me off guard a little bit. She replied with a smile that she would get on it right away and that it would be taken care of by the end of the day (it was , 4 pm and they close at 6 pm). And she wasnt lying! Not only did she send my insurance company all the files they requested, but sent me a full copy of everything she sent them so I would be on the same page. OUTSTANDING!! So for those of you who dont know.... THATS HOW IT IS DONE!! THANK YOU JEN FOR YOUR RAISE WORTHY CUSTOMER SERVICE!! Molley Rey Cyrus Jackson loves Good Ground Animal Hospital and so do I!! Thank you!!
Dr. Heather Swanson is a life saver! We recently moved our dog to France and went to her since our regular vet was not USDA approved and the other vet in his practice was very unhelpful. Not only was Dr. Swanson incredibly more customer focused, but also caught a lapse in our dogs rabies vaccination which would have been a disaster had we tried to go to the airport without correcting it. This caused us to have to reschedule flights, but it helped us follow the law and get our dog safely to France. It would have been a disaster to fly without correcting the issue that only Dr. Swanson uncovered. Also, our dog has a real problem even riding in a car. He becomes extremely stressed and throws up within 20 minutes of leaving home. Dr. Swanson prescribed just the right amount of sedative and anti-vomiting medication so that our boy was calm, but completely responsive and safe and he made a trip by car across Long Island to JFK airport, the flight over to France, and another ride from Paris to Brittany without even a hint of car sickness.Thank you Dr. Swanson! Had we stayed in Hampton Bays, we would certainly have transferred care of our hound to Dr. Swanson at Good Ground Animal Hospital on a permanent basis.
Love this place! The staff are extremely friendly and helpful. Dr. Spanbock is always so gently and wonderful with my dog Bernie. Theres reasonable, office and waiting rooms are very clean. I wouldnt ever go anywhere else. LOVE LOVE LOVE THEM !!!
We really love this place, the ambient, the vibe you get, just overall great. My dog who tends to get very nervous with regular visits is always relaxed here.I cant say enough wonderful things about Dr. Spanbock and his team. Theyre always very caring.During Christmas, we had to travel for 2 weeks to FL, and used their boarding services for the first time. Since our dog is blind, we were worried but our dog is familiar with them and it was good to know that he was in good hands. The whole team was very friendly and attentive to our questions and concerns.Thank you to everyone at the Animal Clinic of Hampton Bays!!!
I am so very disappointed in this animal hospital and the care we received. We brought In a very sick feral cat that we found. They explained to us it would cost a lot of money to do blood work up and x-rays, and they suggested that we put the cat down. He was a least over ten years old. We agreed that would be the best scenario due to how ill he was. We decided to cremate his remains. Nothing was told to us about pricing so when we went to pay the bill they had charged us 400.00. I was so shocked at this and could not believe this enormous bill. No compassion just pay the bill. Here i am trying to do the right thing and was very willing to pay something but this to me was outrageous. SO MUCH FOR DOING THE RIGHT THING THEY SHOULD BE ASHAMED.
It is a real shame that these old reviews cant be removed as this animal clinic is under new ownership now. Dr. Will Spanbock is a first rate vet who has my complete trust and appreciation. The negative reviews are about people no longer there. Not only is Dr. Spanbock fantastic with animals but people love him too, and as a result he attracts the best staff! The clinic is clean and professional and everyone is very friendly. You know they take your pets care as seriously as you do. Dr. Spanbock was my first dogs vet and I would never have been able to get through cancer without him. It would take too much space to explain all of the reasons why but when he moved to this location full-time I followed him there. He takes excellent care of my second dog as does his staff. Hands down Im always thrilled to recommend Dr. Spanbock and the Animal Clinic of Hampton Bays and Im one picky customer!
I really liked the doctor here. Very nice guy, down to earth, and knew what he was talking about. I was very satisfied with my visit 😊🐶
Dr. Spanbock is a very nurturing and caring vet. I admire his rapport with animals. I have had great experiences bringing my dog to him. My dog is 75 lbs and gets nervous when he leaves home. Dr. Spanbock and his staff know just how to handle him. I am very happy.
Since he was having seizures (more than 1/day, recently) I thought Riley, my cat would have to be euthanized...but Dr. Swanson suggested med and hes doing way better now....what a relief! I also want to commend the Vet Asstt who interviewed me re symptoms and was very efficient. Both were caring and kind, so it was a good experience
THE BEST. I sometimes call last minute to make appointments (I try not to do this, but sometimes I get anxious about my pets well being) and they always take me in, if they have availability. They are so good, and are super friendly. I have been bringing my dog and cat here and they always take me in fast and quick. I especially recommend Veternatian Dr. Will Spanbock! He is so amazing! I couldn’t be happier with how he treats my animals.
The absolute BEST place to take your pet! Dr Spanbock, the Vet Tech Billie, and the entire office at the Animal Clinic of Hampton Bays, SAVED our dogs life! Our 8 year old dogs health started to go down hill fast, and we were devastated. One vet prepared us for the worst and then Billie referred us to Dr. Spanbock for a second opinion. He quickly figured out the root of his issues and treated him immediately. Our dog is now doing amazing and we cant thank them enough!!!
The Animal Clinic of Hampton Bays is who I trust to care for my 3 dogs. They are friendly, courteous and provide excellent veterinary care. I trust Dr. Spanbock 100%. He is THE BEST small animal doctor on the east end! My beagle, Ripley, has been into the hospital for a dental cleaning and also a mass removal surgery. She is not a cooperative patient but Dr. Spanbock and his support staff are patient and highly skilled. They always treat her fairly even when she is difficult. Knowing that my Ripley is in caring hands relieves me from an otherwise stressful visit.
Dr. Walker is the BEST!!! We were traveling and had an emergency with our dog, and Dr. Walker and her team were so nice and accommodating. Since we were from out of town we didnt feel like a drive by, we felt that we were treated like family and regular clients. If we lived in the westhampton area we would definitely see Dr. Walker. Please move to the west coast!!! Okay or we will :) Definitely recommend Animal Clinic of Hampton Bays
This vet clinic is awesome. They were able to accommodate me for something last minute when my dog cracked a tooth, and they actually charged me what they pre-quoted (unlike a lot of other places!), which I found to be very fair compared to others as well. Dr. Spanbock was great and easy to talk to. Will be going here from now on! Thanks!
We just got two new puppies and we LOVE good ground animal hospital. The staff is so caring and compassionate, seriously they are the best people! The vets are very knowledgeable and always help us with any questions we have even when we don’t have an appointment!
I see all these great reviews for Spanbock, but let me tell you about my experience with him and how it destroyed my life. Nine years later, I still havent recovered. One morning my dog was throwing up and just laying down, refusing to stand, in obvious pain. I took him to the vet (a few weeks earlier I had specifically asked to not see Dr. Spanbock anymore because he had led us astray with our other dogs healthcare) and as an emergency Spanbock was who we saw. I was a mess and crying. The whole time I was in there he spoke to my mother, and basically refused to even look my direction (I assume because of the previous complaint I made about him.) He told me my dog was fine and I was overreacting. He also said that they could do a $300 test to check to see if there were any blockages but that performing that test would be CRUEL and unnecessary. He reiterated I was overreacting. Against my better judgement, I relented. I have to live with that. Spanbock gave my dog a shot to make him stop vomiting (which ended up making things worse and part of the reason my puppy died later that night) and it worked for a few hours. Around 3-4 PM my puppy threw up again. I took him back to the vet, where Spanbock finally agreed to do the test. During the test, my puppy threw up blood and the medicine they gave him, they couldnt even finish performing the test but they knew now for sure his intestines were blocked. Id also like to point out, that their inability to complete the test did not deter them from charging me over $300 for it still. After that, Spanbock said he could do surgery, but there wouldnt be anyone there at night so I should really take him to the animal ER in Riverhead. Pretty sure the real reason was he didnt want to do surgery at the end of the day. Well, I take my poor pup to the ER and they had another dog in surgery so we had to wait. By the time they could operate on him, his vitals werent great and things were looking dim. When they finally did the surgery, we find out his intestines had twisted and were 80% rotted. The vet told me that if was 70% or less he would have had a much better chance of survival and could lead a somewhat normal life. They even showed me a real picture of his insides, an image that haunts me to this day. They told me I would be cruel to do the surgery, so I told them to close him back up. They let me see him while they got the paperwork to euthanize him, He looked so frail and I remembering holding his head and crying, asking him to please just go and not make me have to put him to sleep. He died in my arms a few seconds later. I thanked him for not making me have to euthanize him.I asked the vets if I had brought him in earlier would he have lived and they said most likely. Thats when the guilt started. If I had listened to myself and not Spanbock, if I had insisted he do the test that morning, my puppy would be alive. I can never forgive myself for that and I have to live with it. Oh and the best part is, I was so distraught when my puppy died that shortly after I started fighting with my fiancee, told him I needed time and some space to get over this. Three months to the day after my puppy died, my fiancee got into a car accident that took his life. Had I been with him, he wouldnt have died (he only wore his seat belt when he was with me and he was going to a place I usually accompanied him). Those two things will always be related to me as well now. Also, the 4,000+ dollars my mom and I spent at the ER, (and thats not including what Spanbock charged me) led to our financial downfall and eventually forced us to move off Long Island. One day destroyed my entire life. And I never got so much as a personal apology from him.Moral of the story, listen to yourself and dont let a vet bully you into listening to them.
My dog lily has a neck problem. I took her to get checked out and saw Dr Spanbock a few times . He gave her some medication but it wasnt working she needed to be put on multiple medications including a steroid. He suggested trying acupuncture which is done by Dr Swanson. So I reached out to her and made my 1st appointment 6/19/19. Since I been taking her now every 2 weeks I noticed a big difference in her and she is starting to be back to her old self. Dr Swanson got her off her steroid pill and soon to be weening her off another one in a few weeks. All the staff that work here are very nice and any questions I asked have been thoroughly answered. I highly recommend this vet they take good care of all there patients.
I am appalled at their lack of care and compassion for the comfort of animals. They are clearly just interested in making money. Cash grabbers. I needed my dogs anal glands expressed after she had a full examination last month in New York City and they wouldn’t do it unless they could make money on a full examination! Disgusting!!! I told them I would have my veterinarian email them and confirm that she has been cared for and vaccinated but they did not want to hear it. They just want money!!!!
If you feel like I do about your pet that they are a member of your family then you will not get any better care anywhere else than from this office. I’ve been going to this office for almost 5 years now and I travel 35 miles each way! I would hope that that would at least say something for Dr. Spanbock and his staff! We thank you! 😃
Dr Spanbock is wonderful with our puppy, he treats him like his own. We’ve been going to him for 3 years now and would highly recommend him.
I absolutely love this place. Monica was an absolute delight through it all. Both Dr. Spanbock and Dr.Swanson are beyond fantastic. Both so educated and really nice- so blessed to have them as my pets doctors.
Dr. Swanson & Dr. Spanbock are excellent knowledgeable vets. Office is clean & receptionist are wonderful. Very reasonable rates, I highly recommend.
This hospital is the best.Taking care of our beloved Believe, compassionate and competent.Would never go anywhere else.
I was here for a few days. The doctor and staff took me in immediately to check out my dog. The were very hands on and explained everything that they were going to do and what to expect. Very kind and caring.
Love this place. They take great care of my cat and were able to help him when another Vet office could not figure out the problem. The staff and doctors are friendly and nice to me and my special friend. 😊
My Chippy loves your DocsAnd your assistants. Thank you for seeing us today xo the Cooneys
Excellent good service
Excellent vet, excellent facility, reasonably priced and friendly service. What more could you ask for?
We just moved here and I needed assistance for my dogs and I went there and I couldn’t have found more caring, compassionate people. I’ve had dogs all my life been through a lot of We just moved here and I needed assistance for my dogs and I went there and I couldn’t have found more caring, compassionate people. I’ve had dogs all my life been through a lot of veterinarians, and I was absolutely so satisfied with them. I’m looking forward to keeping them hopefully for many years.
Great staff and atmosphere! The receptionists and vets are very sweet. I would recommend going here.
The doctors and staff are so friendly this is the only place I will bring my animals they are very well taken care of, love this place.
Very clean, friendly, competent staff, great with the animalsBest vet experience Ive had!
Great Animal Hospital. Very friendly knowledgeable staff. Had both my pups serviced. Mr Cooper and Cali Thank you guys. Highly recommend !!!
We have been taking our dogs to Good Ground Hospital for years. They have always received the best care from Dr Walker, Dr Spanbock, Dr Swanson and the staff. We have a new rescue, who bites, and the staff and Doctors are fantastic dealing with her. We Love our babies and would do anything for them. They are in such good hands there.
Great services and prices. My favorite vet 👌😊🐕
Just had a visit for our nervous dog for an eye infection. As always, the entire staff went above and beyond. They met us with full masks (due to COVID-19) at my car and were able to coax Millie out the car with gentle encouragement. Can’t rave enough about this vet and staff. We’re always grateful for them!
Wonderful animal hospital! Very caring and professional people! They took wonderful care of my dog! 💖🐶🐾
Had to bring my dog in for a skin infection. After spending $500 took home meds. Skin I fiction still not healed. Went back spent more money, skin infection still not healed. Had to take my dog to a different place. Spent another $500 and finally healed him. A year later took my same dog for an ear infection. Spent another $500 (seems to be the magic number) 2 weeks later, going back because of green ooze coming out of ear. They tell me it will be cheaper this time. Well see.
There is no better veterinary practice in all of the Hamptons-Dr Spanbock, along with staff members Kelli, Nick, Lilly, Jen & Paige- all helped to guide me through the most difficult & heart wrenching part of pet ownership- the euthanasia of my beloved dachshunds. I could not have survived the experience without their loving, compassionate, professional care. Dr. Spanbock always provided the best medical expertise throughout the many years-& always showed compassion- but it was during the final days that everyone went beyond good veterinary care to an almost spiritual experience. My dachshunds were like my children-my love for them like that for my own daughter......it was of utmost importance that they be treated with love, dignity, respect & proper care-& that is exactly what we received. I am still grieving their loss- but was again encouraged by Good Ground Animal when I picked up their ashes this past weekend. I will always remember the extraordinary care we received throughout their lives, but especially at the end.
The staff at the Animal Clinic of Hampton Bays is excellent! They are always professional and you can tell that they really care about their jobs and all of the animals that come into their clinic. My puppy had very bad gastrointestinal issues, and Dr. Spanbock & Dr. Walker gave me the right tools as far as food, supplements and meds to get him feeling better. Now, he is better than ever and we havent had anymore stomach issues. Thank you to the doctors, & the veterinary assistants for helping my little boy and getting him on the road to recovery. AND thank you to the amazing veterinary receptionists who make each and every visit enjoyable and easy as can be. I would recommend the Animal Clinic of Hampton Bays to everyone!!
Hedy Tufo -- 1 starNever again. Brought my dog to get groomed and to have her checked for bacteria infection. at 9:30am - was told they would be grooming at the vets office. Told I would meet Tony that morning. No Tony. At 3:00 they call my husband, not me - to tell them she wont be done till 5:00. I call back asking why it takes 7.5 hours to groom a puppy...they say she needs a lot of work - but she is fine, happy in her kennel. I ask to speak to Tony - no Tony - he is in transit dropping off the urine sample for her. I show up at 4 and say I will wait but would like to see her now. My Dog is not in the building. They moved her somewhere else - after I became HYSTERICAL screaming and cursing - they finally gave me the address of some house in Hampton Bays. I race over there to find one dog sitting in a car. I pound on the door, threatening to call the police - I get my dog back. I expected a phone call from the vet, something...nothing. I picked up my slow feeder bowl the next day and they replaced the Soresto collar that was left at Tonys house. DO not believe they board your animals at the vets office. Its some apartment on Penny Lane in Hampton Bays where Tony lives. I would have simply rescheduled if they couldnt do it due to construction but now I cant believe a word they say. They lied to me multiple times during this fiasco, sadly I now have to find another vet.. my first grooming experience was something out of a horror film. She came back to me still wet, nails unclipped...it wasnt even done right. Oh and they couldnt get a urine sample to check her for the UTI infection she had - even though they had her for over 7 hrs. Simply the most unprofessional - uncaring - irresponsible - situation I sadly subjected my sweet baby to.
