It is a beautiful place. They have a huge area for the bigger dogs 🐕 and a smaller one for little dogs. There is an agility course, and all areas have excellent fencing and gates. My german shepherd is unfortunately dog aggressive so I try to find times when one of the areas is empty. Not easy to find but she loves it when she can really run.

I really enjoyed this dog park. Sometimes the small dog areas are tiny, and my doxie-terrier mix loves to run. But, the small dog area here was nice and large, and he enjoyed running with another dog.The agility area was nice as well, cushy to walk on.A few days after I went in March 2024, someone started smashing car windows and stealing purses. So dont leave any valuables in plain sight while youre there with your dogs.

Our corgi Mabel approves of this park! There’s a big dog, small dog and agility/obstacle course section here. They maintain the grass and facilities very nicely as well. Lots of room for walking and everyone was friendly and inviting. Only issue is the parking lot for the dog park has major cracks and potholes, so please drive carefully and don’t speed! Lots of children and dogs are around. Overall, we loved this park and are willing to drive out a little further to visit!

The only problem was that it wasnt closer to our home. My dog loves it.Been coming here for months now and havent had any run in with the nasty volunteer that I read about. Maybe she is history. That would be good. I like that children under 12 are not allowed in. I dont have to worry about kids misbehaving around animals. Kids can be very stupid, behaviors that there own family pet tolerates gets a much different reaction from somebody elses pet. As an ex paramedic I had to see too many dogs put down, decapitated, and the head sent to Albany because some kid yanked their tail cruelly. This time of year it gets muddy. Wear appropriate shoes and clothes. Or wait for 4-6 sunny days. It is the best dog park Ive found.

Wonderful dog park. Area for big dogs (over 35lbs), small dogs, and an agility course. Facility is well kept, theres toys to be shared, and a water fountain as well to fill up dog bowls (also provided). The park itself was big, open, with some shade too. Everyone was super friendly and our dog had a good time too. Highly recommend the park.

The dog park itself is great. However there is volunteer there who has a serious power complex and will kick you out if you question any of her made up rules. She claimed dog muzzles were not allowed, so I put my dogs back in the car and looked for this rule...there was no such rule posted.I called the park and they and told them about the situation and they already knew who I was talking about. They said the rules posted were the ones that needed to be followed.I went back to ask this lady where this rule was posted and just for questioning her on this rule she told me that I am not allowed to come back.

Beware of the “dog park n@zi” she’s older, skinny, wears an oxygen tank, and has a beautiful dog. She is only a volunteer, she does not get paid. But I have personally been attacked by her as well as seen other owners/dogs get attacked by her. I’d avoid bringing your own toys, as if she sees you leaving with them she’ll have 20 questions to ask about where you got it to see if you stole it from the park. Don’t try to bring in a coffee to drink while your dog plays because she’ll harass you about being responsible for your own garbage even though there’s plenty of signs for it. Today I saw her kick a 12 year old child out because she “didn’t look 12”, the child wasn’t causing any issues or being disrespectful at all. This woman is here almost all the time, it’s nearly impossible to avoid her but your best bet is to pretend you can’t hear her for the most part. Lovely park, extremely awful volunteer. She shouldn’t be allowed to harass people who want to relax with their dogs. I wish the park would do something about her.

Beautiful park, rude staff. I brought my moms two dogs. She comes w them at least once a week. I brought my ten yr old son(my mom thought ten was the age. Though my son could pass for 13w his size) but we were honest and wanted to follow the rules. She allowed us to take the dogs AND my son into the small dog side seeing there was no one there (there was also only 2 dogs on the big side). My dogs wouldn’t do anything and stood at the fence longingly for the other side. So I decided to take them over there just to let them run (I traveled 20 minutes and they just needed a good run). Well that was an issue due to the one dog being on the smaller side. No problem my son took that dog and was going to walk w her while I let the bigger one run. THAT was also a problem. From the beginning it was clear we and our dogs were not wanted there. Idk why. We were respectful, accommodating, following the rules. It was like since we were new we shouldn’t have been there. The lady was very nose too. When I explained this was my first time, I was dog sitting for my mom, she even asked me “doesn’t your mom know the rules?” I was really taken back. Such a shame. Beautiful park, ugly attitudes and vibes.

The dog park is very nice and well maintained. Has all the space a dog can enjoy. The only and biggest take away from being at the great facility was the non professional and rude woman in charge.. Most of the people with dogs were taking their dogs out and said they would not be returning due to this woman attitude.

Very, very nice dog park. I was disappointed on my last visit, however.I have a puppy who wasnt quite old enough and i was asked to leave. I understand the reasoning behind it but I was the only person there and I also understand that all dogs and people are essentially at their own risk, regardless of age. I had driven 15 miles just for this park (they have a great agility area and its very clean) and offered to leave if others had shown up. I still had to leave. The volunteer wasnt unpleasant about it but I just thought the interaction was unnecessary. Put me on notice about the dogs age- I get it but to ask us to just go from an empty park is kinda silly.I do plan on returning, she is now old enough. For those planning on the park, make sure your puppy is old enough or it will be a wasted trip.

What a wonderful tribute to the memory of a family member. This park is beautiful, with a lot of fun things for your dog to keep busy with. Unfortunately, our first experience was not pleasant. Upon entering the park, a woman approached us poised for battle. She was very confrontational, questioning every thing we were doing. She was so rude and aggressive, it was very upsetting. In a place that was meant to be peaceful and pleasant, this woman does not belong. I called the park office in advance to ask if there was anything needed to visit the park. When I spoke to a young lady on the phone, she said no reservations were needed, just come along. The woman at the park, then called us fibbers, because we hadnt talked to her specifically. She claimed to be the manager of the park, a volunteer. Im certain that the people who built this park, didnt intend for someone like this to be a manager. This woman was very unpleasant, it was so upsetting to us, we nearly left. She told us we should leave, and that she was taking my information to log in the book. We hadnt even entered the playground area for the dogs before she threatened us with all of this. We were first time visitors, following the rules, trying to enjoy this beautiful park, very disappointing.

This is a very impressive dog park! After bringing my pup home to visit my family in New York from Texas, we decided to check it out. The dog park is massive, has trees, toys you can use and has large/small breed separation. This park would be overused in any other city for its greatness and Owego is lucky to have it! Great job on the park, love it!

Nice park, well maintained though there are a few mud pits. Bigger complaint is how much of a stickler for the rules the attendant lady is. Might be a plus for some people, but frustrating when you go there with your dog on a lunch break to find out you arent permitted to eat in the park.

Today we took our dog to the park to play for the first time, the lady that apparently manages the park was extremely nasty to us and another couple! First off we brought our kids as this was our first time so we were unaware of the kids 12 and under rule however we did follow the rule and I stayed out with the kids, the woman was very rude when she told us kids aren’t aloud and that it’s been that way since they opened. Then she was yelling at another woman who was trying to come out. After all that another couple showed up and she was completely out of line with them, she started yelling at them telling them to follow the rules when all they were doing was trying to open the door, she then proceeded to call the man a jerk, was making snide remarks to the woman and flipped them off! I am 100% appalled by that woman’s actions and attitude! Honestly you need to get someone else with a better attitude to manage that place! Our experience today at Hickories dog park was absolutely terrible and honestly I’m not sure if we will be returning!

This is a great concept and our puppy loves it! Mayson is a 45lb Olde English Bulldogge. We first went to the park as soon as he finished all of his shots at 25 lbs when we noticed that there is a weight limit for the small dog area which is 25 lbs. We knew he would definitely surpass that in a matter of weeks. When we went last week, one of the grounds keepers said that we should go to the agility area so he can let out some energy. We complied although our dog is not doing any agility training. Once we let him run around for a bit we brought him to meet the other dogs. They met, ran around, and played for a bit when the second bad sign came. The same grounds keeper started using the leaf blower while we and the other dog owners were standing watching our dogs (while social distancing of course). He literally had dirt flying in our faces which we all felt was unnecessary! Meanwhile, he also brings his once isolated dog to the side where the majority of the dogs were. Mayson being a 4 month old puppy, (which we ALWAYS disclose before introducing him to new people or dogs) goes over to sniff and possibly play with his dog and within a minute the dog literally attacks our puppy causing him to scream, bleed, and ultimately have a swollen eye. The dogs owner/ grounds keeper did not check to see if he was okay but instead said she tried to give him signs. BRUH hes a puppy and if you knew that your dog was not friendly with other dogs or puppies then it is YOUR job to verbalize it! We have spoken with other dog owners that we know and they have all had instances where a worker at the park is rude for absolutely no reason. Needless to say, we will not be going back to this park until Mayson is at his possible 85 lb+ peak!

I came to the dog park today with my child and my dog. It took us 22 min to drive there with our large dog. As we entered we were asked to leave. The no children under 12 is ridiculous! I am entering at my own risk with my dog, myself and my child. My child has grown up with large dogs. If he was afraid or I was concerned for his safety I certainly wouldn’t have brought him. He is 8. I have brought my child many times before and there was no sign or person to say he couldn’t be there. It was a nice place for people to bring pets and socialize in the community to bad it was ruined for us by this new rule. I’m beyond disappointed with this park.
