Paul was amazing from start to finish. Super responsive on setting up the initial appointment, followed up after our first session and worked around our schedule for our last session. After researching trainers I decided to try Paul Hormann at Obedience Dog Training. After calling him my first thought was wow! this is costly but now I must say don’t let this scare you because it was well worth it. He came to my home and on the very first session the results were amazing. We continued to practice the same training with our dog on a daily basis. After our second session again it was exciting to see our large puppy dog advance with leaps & bounds! Our difficult, stubborn girl is now enjoyable and a real pleasure to be around.

Paul was amazing. We have 2 constantly barking Pomeranians that basically ran the ship. They were wee wee pad trained and didn’t know what a command was.Paul came and within 45 minutes they were no longer barking. Oh the quiet is amazing!!!! They also learned to sit and no longer jumping up the back of my legs.We are now using the outside potty too. Paul suggested crate training because of the previous wee wee pads but I am not crazy about crates and he came up with a plan to work around my stubbornness. We have one Pom that refused to pee in the grass and now she lets me know when she has to go out. Not by barking but grunting at me. LolBy the end of his second visit we are now doing sit and stay and doWe cannot thank Paul enough for all his help and knowledge.

Paul is such an amazing trainer! I can honestly say that my relationship with my dog is 10x better now due to what I learned while working with Paul. Since the moment that he walked in the door my miniature poodle respected him. Paul was attentive and very thorough with his explanations. He provided suggestions on leashes, collars, harnesses, and answered every single question I had. Paul was ABSOLUTELY AMAZING to work with. Prior to the first session, we had an extensive conversation about all of the problem behaviors we were having with our new adopted dog, Kolby. He assured us that he could remediate all of the concerns AND HE DID!When Paul arrived at our home for the first session, he had an immediate impact on our dog, Kolby, within moments of meeting him. Paul had a presence and Kolby had a deep respect for his dominance. We were so impressed at his command of our dog that was driving us crazy!We began our first session by reviewing Pauls notes from our earlier phone conversation. We sat down, discussed the concerns, prioritized them and got right to work. Paul worked with me, my husband and children to ensure we would be successful after he left. He came for two sessions two weeks apart which each lasted 2-3 hours and were hands on with all members of the family.We learned basic commands such as sit, stay, come, heel, and leave it and were able to remediate the problem behaviors (jumping on counters, scratching doors, housebreaking, etc). He put Kolby (and us) on a housebreaking schedule that worked! After modeling each new skill, we had the opportunity to practice and receive pointers from Paul on ways to improve. Then he provided the strategies which were typed with visuals and hand written notes specific to Kolby (and us). Paul made sure we were clear on how to be successful and provided us with the tools to be successful after he left.We are so grateful for Paul, for his passion, patience and commitment. Training the newest member of our family was so important to us and we could have never imagined the outcome. As a follow up to our rescue of a 5 month old puppy, we contacted Paul to help us with obedience training and acclimating our older dog to his new sibling. From start to finish, our experience was outstanding.Paul responded immediately to an initial phone inquiry and even during that exploratory conversation he was generous with his time to ask about our pup, our home environment, our goals and offer ideas and guidance. This formed a foundation for our plan. Once our decision was made, he outlined specific training needs and behavior issues to be addressed and methodically followed through by addressing them in the 2 sessions we had. His skill with the dogs was immediately apparent and his relationship with our dogs showed not only his skill in managing them but his genuine affection for them. His style of instructing us in technique (demonstrate, have us practice, correct and follow up) gave us confidence as well as the training tools we needed. Between the 2 sessions, Paul reached out to us to see how our training was going, advise on any issues and add activities to include in our second and last session.In addition to the training specifics, Paul was invaluable in guiding us about various issues - car rides, dog food, leashes, cleaning supplies, etc. etc. Certainly its easy to go to a pet store and invest in pricey supplies that just dont meet the need, so his input was much appreciated. Paul is an expert in the field. He is firm and effective in his techniques. From obedience to overcoming a dogs fear of stairs, to potty training, Pauls the one you want to get you sorted out. Paul was a wonderful trainer who was very knowledgeable. We adopted a puppy after years of both of us not owning a dog so we needed as much training as the dog did. Paul was amazing to work with to say the least. We called him for help with our 3 month old goldendoodle, and saw an immediate difference from the first training session. Paul not only trained our dog, but he gave us training we never would have known we needed on how to manage our dog and help us build a strong bond. My experience with Paul Hormann was fantastic. I contacted Paul for my Chihuahua JellyBean ! My sweet JellyBean is very tiny small Chi puppy with tons of energy. Many people say that Chihuahuas are one of the hardest breeds to train. But, Paul proved that wrong! Pauls knowledge combined with his caring natural love that he has for dogs, immediately shined thru during his training with JellyBean. Training was done in our home, which in my opinion, makes the dog feel more comfortable and adaptable to the learning experience. LOOK NO FURTHER FOR A DOG TRAINER:Paul is an amazing trainer of dogs (and more importantly people). I have a nine-year-old German Shepherd, a seven-year-old hound mix, a five year, old pug, and a 12 week old St. Bernard puppy. I have tried over the years to go to training classes and such, but we were always dog school dropouts. After one hour with Paul, everything changed. Not only did my dogs, obey Paul, obeyed me as well. My life is so much easier now that my dogs see me as the pack leader. My dogs ate less nervous and calmer. Thank you, Paul!

Our experience with Paul and his training method exceeded our expectations. Our new German Shepherd, Ruger responded well to the training method. Ruger is definitely a pup that was trying to find his place in the pack and Paul taught me methods that will continue to let Ruger know where that is! If there is such a thing as a ‘dog whisper’ Paul Hormann is that person. Paul is a great person to work with. Unlike other trainers he listened to us and adapted the training to our unique needs as owners as much as the dog’s. We have a 45 week old GSP which is as head strong, brilliant, manipulative, and hunt focused as the breed is noted for. We spent hours a day training him since week 8 with the help of other trainers and programs. But he still jumped on people, pulled on leash, darted off after small game, and decided he would be our pack leader.We may have set the ground work with our own training but we just couldn’t get to the next level no matter how many trainers, books, or YouTube videos we invested in. On the first visit Paul sat with us for an hour and then he had the kind of immediate success with the dog that blew our minds. Paul also trained us to elicit better behavior with word, action, and attitude. We are grateful we found Paul and our dog probably is too. Based on Google reviews, I called Paul when our 3-year-old dogs constant barking had brought us to the brink of insanity. He also had regressed to having accidents around the house. It has now been 3 weeks, including a week away, and since the moment Paul walked into our house for the first time, our dogs barking has reduced 90%, and no more accidents. He sits, stays, and comes when called. No more jumping all over people. I could not believe it would happen this fast and be this simple. Paul will give you a few simple rules to follow that easily fit into any busy schedule. When he leaves, your dog will be happy knowing his/her place in the pack hierarchy. Friends and family who are used to coming over and hearing our dog constantly bark are completely amazed at the instant transformation. Paul was amazing! He worked with us to train our two year old dominant dog. He worked with us on all commands as well as her problem with jumping. After one session we noticed a significant difference in her tempermant and she was already following commands after one session. Would recommend 10/10

We reached out to Paul when our new golden puppy began showing his stubborn side. Paul begins training literally when he walks through the door. We were shocked at the difference in Odins behavior in only moments. Over the next two training sessions, Paul gave us easy to use techniques that are highly effective .He does not use a reward system, but uses verbal commands and lots of encouragement. If you use the techniques and practice, youll be very satisfied with the outcome. Paul even called mid week to see how things were going and to offer some other techniques we could try. If you have a challenging pet, then Paul is your man.

Paul did a wonderful job for us. We got our dog Honey from the shelter and we had alot of issues with crate training and house breaking. All of the methods we learned from Paul helped our family develop a routine that proved to be successful. Honey has been a wonderful addition to our family and Paul helped make that happen. My dogs are trained! I could not believe how quickly they picked up what Paul and I defined our goals for them to be. One of my dogs is a little older and kind of set in her ways. The other is young, big, clumsy and kind of dopey, as cute and lovable as she is! She had a bad habit of darting off after squirrels with me being dragged helplessly on the other end of the leash. I thought we never stood a chance. My dogs learned at different paces but they both learned! They will heel for me both on and off the leash. They no longer jump up on me. They now know I am in charge. They do not test me anymore. Yet there is the same level of love and adoration. Pauls methods are quick and direct. I can honestly say that before I talked to Paul I was ready to throw in the towel and return my rescue dog Charlie to the shelter where I had adopted him. I was beyond frustrated, felt that I had somehow made a terrible mistake and had ended up with a dog that was aggressive, un-trainable, and a non-stop peeing and pooping machine that would never be housebroken. Paul called me back the same day I left my message (on a Sunday!) and after speaking with him for nearly half an hour I was resolved to give obedience training a shot. His confidence shone through the phone and I felt hope. Near the end of the week I was ready to give up again, but Paul called that night as well to check-in and confirm plans for our weekend training session and once again I felt that he could help turn things around and I eagerly waited for our session.From the moment Paul walked in the door (literally) he set the tone for the training and his demonstration unlocked all of the issues I was having with Charlie - it was me, I was the problem. Despite having experience with an older, previously trained dog, I had no idea how to deal with a dog still firmly in his puppy era (9 months old). I was letting Charlie rule the roost, and while Im sure he was happy in his brief sprint as the alpha of our pack, once he learned his true place in the pack (and me mine) everything changed for the better. As soon as Paul showed me how I had to communicate with him and take control - through stern but completely humane methods - suddenly Charlie was no longer an untrainable problem dog, but one that learned fast, responded to correction, and by the end of the first session had stopped all of his play biting and chewing of things he shouldnt chew and had a very firm grasp of leave it and was already walking better on the leash.Paul put us (ok me) on a strict schedule for housebreaking and the daily accidents became weekly accidents and still only occurred when I deviated from the plan. Within a couple of weeks he had graduated from being tethered to me indoors to being able to relax with us in the kitchen and living room (gated) unleashed, to a few weeks later not needing the gates at all, fully adjusted to the schedule and getting better at letting us know when he needed to go outside if we (the problem humans) forgot the scheduled time.I cannot recommend Paul and his training highly enough, he showed me that I had in fact adopted a really great dog - and gave me the confidence and tools to be a much better owner. He trained me well and he can do the same for you.

Thoughtful, clear explanations, firm, but gentle. He left a lot of written material to digest as well. The dogs got clearly better during his first visit and will continue to be better as we work with his plan.
