Plenty of room for my big dog to run around. Pleased to find some grass and not just dirt. Be aware there is a small burial space, so don’t let your dog dig there (or you might end up with something unpleasant).

This place is great. We got there early before the after work rush and got to work on some jumps on the ability course. When the crowds arrived they were friendly and the pups all had fun running ground together. Could be a bit cleaner... people can be so lazy, leaving everyone else to deal with it 🙄

I did not like the K9 Korral Dog Run. It is not well kept. It was overgrown with weeds in a lot of the areas and there was a lot of sharp rocks and wood branch debris. It is set into a hilly side of Forest Park. Access from the street is through a set of stairs. The ground is uneven and was difficult for me to navigate as I can’t walk well . There was really no decent seating. The “obstacles” are in poor condition and are not placed in areas that are easy to access. I did not see any water source. The dog run is shaded. I drove to the dog run and found street parking. The K9 Korral Dog Run has potential if the Parks Department was inclined to modernize it.

I like this dog park. Requires street parking and usually I find a spot. Havent had any issues with other dogs or owners. There are plenty of benches and a little obstacle course. This park is park of Forest Park so when youre dine with the dog park you can venture out on the trails through the park itself. The ground is a combination of grass and dirt. If it rains it can get a little muddy.Must walk up stairs to reach the park.Must bring water for your dog as there is no water source.Recommend this little dog park.

Little dogs beware!! Went there with my dog and there was beer glass pieces all over the floor in the little dog area. Meanwhile the space is huge for big dogs (which i get they need space but the small dog area could have been bigger too) and they get a tire swing and a ramp, while the little dogs just have a small area with dirt and glass! No thank you, I’m not bringing my dog here again. Completely unsafe and boring for little dogs.

Nice and big. Has two dog parks in one. Has a water fountain to fill the dog bowls with water. Has plenty of benches to watch your dogs have fun. The dogs are all friendly. Their are plenty of balls to throw around. There is also a park bathroom within walking distance right outside the dog park. I bring a little cooler and stay for about two hours or until my dogs get tired. Fun experience I just love watching them play. I only go twice a year in the summer because we live a little distance.

Small and all dirt. It is nicely shaded though.Havent been happy with the mix of dogs. I go to Rockaway dog run off beach 86 and have never had trouble .. at K9 I frequently run into judgmental and stand offish owners . I much prefer to hike with my pooch through the kettle pond trails.

Rlly loved this park the times I have gone here and brought my dog. They have a small hike trail which is fun for the dogs to have some exercise. The dog owners here are more attentive and responsible to their dogs and pick up after their poop, unlike little bay park. I’ve met some lovely dogs and dog owners as well.

This dog park is a little bit small but its full of features. It has a separate area for little dogs, it has terraces for tiring uphill games of fetch, it even has a cute little agility course. A word to the wise though, dont send your dog through those tire jumps. Non regulation tire jumps are extra dangerous and talented dogs have been hurt or killed in tire jumping accidents. The park also has lots of benches which I really like.

I’ve been coming here for about 1.5 years. We’ve had a blast most of the time in spite of the aggressive big dog behavior and inattentive owners who seem to not care when their dogs start harassing and dominating other dogs and people. I’m all for letting dogs sort that out but if you are paying attention you know when it’s gone too far and it’s time to intervene.I will not be coming back due the last time I was there being nipped at by a Pit bull (1yr ish old pup) who became fixated on me and would not stop coming toward me. I had to beg the owner to “pleaseCome get your Dog”. The owner was on his phone and ignored my previous attempts to get his attention. His dog was fixated on me and wouldn’t stop. Ripped my sweatshirt when he nipped at my wrist It was pretty freaky.Too bad because my dog loves it there.

Nice area, lovely dogs and dog parents. Everyone is friendly. With the remodel they fixed the fencing and even set up a small dog area, in case your small dog is too intimidated by the bigger dogs. There are also park benches inside to sit on. And the agility equipment is still there as well. Actually looks improved, but I didnt examine it too closely. The slope is terraced to prevent erosion. And while there is a big dirt patch in the center where most of the dogs socialise, there is still grass on the outer edges.I love going here and so does my pup!

Have a dog? Want it to get exercise outdoors, socialize with other dogs and get tired? Look no further than here. This enclosed dirt field with encompassed separate fenced area, drinking fountain for both humans and mans best friend, and a small obstacle course is perfect for any canine. Dog owners should be encouraged to bring their dogs here at least once as every dog here are friendly, and hopefully yours too.

I dont go to the dog run but I do live across the street from the Park. Ive been there in over 20 years and I love it. My dog always have to take and squirrels running around free. Not legal to allow them to run free. Leash it required however really enforced. The dog run is that too far from my house I have an older dog. And I am disabled so I cant go that far either.

Ive been taking my lab to play at this neighborhood (Woodhaven) dog run since she was a puppy. Weve both made wonderful friends here and go almost every day. Most of the dogs and their humans are very friendly, the vibe is chill, and the doggie regulars are a nice variety of breeds and sizes. A bonus is that this run is in the midst of Forest Park, where you can forget youre in a big city and there are lots of scenic vistas to explore with your pup on leash. As others have mentioned, the terrain is mostly dirt, so it gets really muddy after a rainstorm, but the dogs dont mind. :) And the humans learn to prepare for it. After recent renovations, the fence is high and the part of the run dedicated to small dogs is much larger. There are some gaps in the gates that little dogs might slip through, though, so be vigilant. My only real issue with the K9 Korral, as this dog run is called, is with the group that runs it. Theyre clannish, unwelcoming, resistant to suggestions, tight with information about their plans for the dog run, the finances of the dog run, and so forth. Its an unfortunate contrast to the very nice board at the other Forest Park dog run, the Forest Park Barking Lot, which openly solicits volunteers and suggestions through its website, has a public Facebook page, and has negotiated some great discounts for its sustaining members (Im one) with local businesses. At a recent Halloween party organized by the K9 Korral board members and crew, chocolate (not safe for dogs) was being served throughout the park, with baked goods placed on benches, etc., and I was greeted as I entered by an apparent management volunteer who pointed out a chocolate baked good on the ground outside the gate that my dog was nosing toward. When I agreed with them that chocolate was toxic, they suggested that my dog had eaten some and said, Well, if your dog drops dead later, youll know why. It was honestly the most unpleasant party arrival Ive ever experienced. When I started a conversation about the experience on Facebook, the group attacked me and my friends like a nest of hornets, then blocked me from the Facebook page and deleted the post. Some friends of mine from the run have also had unpleasant run-ins with some of the management online and in person, which is unfortunate. We all love dogs and the community we have there, and would like to be able to more involved in volunteering at and planning for the dog run. But its not even clear how to become a member, and there is a real resistance to newcomers from most board members, many of whom luckily never turn up except for these events. The ones who do go to the park regularly are generally nicer and more relaxed. I met one member of the board a few months ago who stopped in with a relative’s dog they were taking care of for the day and who said that most of the people on the board, themself included, had dogs at one time but dont anymore, though the board does still manage and host the events.I was told by a friend whos lived in the area for years that the board members used to lock the gate in the early evening to keep people out after they finished enjoying the park. Obviously nowadays that would never be permitted by the city, and they dont do it it anymore. So my advice is: go to the dog run and enjoy! Day to day, its great. But for events like a Halloween party youll probably have more fun at the Forest Park Barking Lot, which is at the Overlook on the east end of the park.

Most dog owners do not keep a close eye on their dog. No matter what your dogs temperament you cant just be texting on your phone or chatting or looking away. You have to be alert. I dont trust the place. Also many dog owners pretend to not be looking so they dont have to pick up after their dogs.

First time I went and won’t ever go back. Walked up to one other dog in the park who’s owner had to move him into the small dog area because his dog wasn’t friendly but said “he wanted to see if they would get along but he has bit other dogs before.”I said I’d rather not.Next people came with two un fixed large hyper dogs that they had no control of and said that this is the first time they have been around other dogs. Not worth it’s considering it’s all dirt and gross anyway.

Disgusting dog run with no one to manage it! Attached is a the picture of the owner and dog who viciously attack my corgi and refused to apologize and leave! This dog has attacked three dogs:corgi, welsh terrier, and a lab mix. All of us had left and asked her politely to leave as well. Instead of leaving, apologizing, or agreeing to pay the vet bill for my dog she decided that she can be there. If you do not own a big dog then this park is not for you. If you do own a big dog, I suggest you watch your dogs behavior closely. Your pup will either be a victim or attacker.

Having made use of other dog runs in NYC, I was not surprised at what I found in Forest Park. Physically, the Run is attractive, of good size, and boasts of some important amenities such as a safe ingress/egress, bags to clean up after your pet as well as receptacles in which to dispose them. Well thought-out, prominently placed and legible signs of official (and non-official) ordinance in re the rules of the Run abound. Some seating is available for humans. Human bathroom facilities and potable water are nearby. Sounds great, no? In fact, the only downside is due to the dog owners, more territorial and selfish and vicious and lacking in social skills than their canine charges. Their dogs behavior is the active component of outrageous passive aggression. Well-behaved dogs of well-behaved owners are displaced in no time by unsocialized quadripeds of bipedal and terminally obnoxious owners. Yet another example of City parks officials providing a good service to us and our dogs, only to be met by thankless locals incapable of honoring the social contract. Dont blame the dogs!

This is a well maintained dog park on a hill. There is a smaller fenced in area for dogs that dont get along with other dogs. Plenty of places to sit and there is a small obstacle course. I wish there was more shade. With all dog parks people should pay attention to their dogs while in the park. Pick up your dogs poop and make sure he/she is not being agressive. If your dog cant handle being around others then dont bring him/her to a dog park.

I visit this dog run often because of its close proximity to my home. My lab (Roma) and I have even met some really great friends over the last year here.Recently, within the last couple of months, I’ve noticed an increase of trash, glass, mosquitos (due to tall, unkept grass over the summer) and poop throughout the run. I posted to this group’s Facebook, “K9 Korral Dog Friends at Forest Park”, an image of some empty prescription bottles as a warning to my fellow ‘dog friends’ (which I obviously picked up right after). My post was met with a few comments from other dog owners expressing their concerns about the recent conditions of the run. A couple of weeks prior to this, I posted an image of an UNLOCKED, SLIGHTLY AJAR side gate on the east side of the park. Yes- unlocked and open. In the comments, I was told that the parks department (?) cut the lock/opened the gate to trim the grass, OUTSIDE of the run, and I guess along the gate (definitely NOT inside the run), and didn’t replace the lock. This caused me, and many others, to worry about the possibility of our dogs escaping. In my opinion, there were no ugly comments made in response to this, just general concern. When checking Facebook to see if they had announced their annual Halloween party, I came to find that K9 Korral Dog Friends at Forest Park blocked me! I’d like to be clear in saying that those were the only two times I had posted on their Facebook EVER images to warn others about the two specific incidences of unsafe conditions I had PERSONALLY experienced. I thought I was doing a good deed by helping others and bringing attention to a couple of very serious incidents. I’m still not sure why my posts were a threat (?) to the park or the online community.I still visit this park because it’s close to my home and I have made some great friends there. But it’s unbelievable to me that the people who run the FB page AND park are so incredibly..... defensive, irresponsible, and quite frankly- mean? The folks over at the Barking Lot (Forest Park Overlook) always do a great job at making people feel like they are PART of the community.Just do better. You know exactly who you are.PS - Hi to all of Roma’s friends, most of you are awesome! 👋

If you want a long walk or ride a bike you can do it freely. It has an athletics track, golf course, and carousel for children. And, tennis courts. And the best thing is it wont cost you a single dollar, everything is free. Just take care to keep the place clean. You will discover many more things.
