Pet Supplies Plus Yorktown Heights

If I could give this store 0 stars, I would. I have never been treated in such an unprofessional manner at a store in my life. My friend and I usually go to another Pet Supplies Plus, but they were out of what we needed. We decided to go to the Yorktown location, which was a HUGE mistake. The owner of the store gave us a hard time over coupons that we had and how we were using them. She demanded to see one of the coupons that we had, when we had a code and one on paper. Considering we can order online, use the code and then pick up order in store, why are you questioning us? Then when we wanted to do two separate purchases to use the coupons she gave us a hard time and made rude remarks, but eventually let us do it. She also made it seem like her store was the only privately owned store and there were special rules at this location, and that her store would be taken from her if she didn’t follow them. I’ve been to many pet supplies plus stores and never experienced anything like this. Finally, when we were leaving, the owner inquired about where I parked my car and told me to make sure I bring her cart back like I was going to steal it. Meanwhile, I found the stupid cart outside of the store before I came in! This was a HORRIBLE experience. The woman who owns this store is completely unprofessional and rude. DO NOT SHOP HERE.

I stopped here to pick up some dog food because it was close to another store I was visiting. I was shell shocked at how expensive the dog food is at this store and refuse to ever go back. I would drive twenty extra miles to Petco before ever returning to this store. The prices are way too high and there are not many other options in the area. So not worth the experience.

I have ordered dog foods multiple times at discounted price online from our neighborhood Yorktown Pet Supplies for store pickup only to be notified at pickup they were not available. Checked the site again a day later and the same discounted dog food is still available for purchase. Another incident, I ordered a 40 lb bird seed for curbside pickup and waited outside for more than 15 mins. I can see the cashier from the window standing at the register without a customer in sight. I finally went inside to pick the item myself wearing a left boot cast.The nail in the coffin ... I purchased a dog food online and picked up IN STORE this time rather than wait at curbside. I mistakenly ordered the wrong type so I returned it the following day. Bag still sealed unopened receipt on hand, the cashier can not see an option to process the return for credit, sought an associate who couldnt help either. Finally a manager (?) was called in to figure it out. Tinkering on the screen for several minutes, he shook his head in dismay. So he decided to resolve it another way (his way I supposed). He had me insert my credit card and told me he will apply the credit, press a button in the screen and told me its settled but cant issue the receipt. After waiting for several minutes holding up the line, I just decided to leave and said thanks. Four days later, I checked my credit card transaction. Two charges from Pet Supplies Yorktown for the exact same amount. For an item I already returned and dont have, I was charged twice!

Location is a bit out of the way, parking is free but the team is not knowledgeable about products. The sale tags are always “expired” or they don’t know what products are eligible for the sales. Of the multiple times I’ve visited I’ve heard one gentleman who was quite helpful but I believe he works in the back. What a shame.

Horrible rude service! And everytime we get to the register if I have a coupon or rewards its always a problem yesterday there was a food on sale for 79.98. She saw my rewards and coupons and rung it up for 89.98! Then when I asked for my 10 dollars she said her husband can only handle it! Shes the store owner and a crook they steal money threw the receipts. Its a clever system they got going. But I spoke to corporate and they will be handling the yorktown store. Stay away! They lost a 5 year customer over 10 bucks.. its sad must be hurting for money. This has happened multiple times to me and my father! She treats he staff terribly also!

We have been going to this pet supply store for years with no issues. My husband bought a few fresh water fish for our tank. The fish were diseased. Within a few days all the fish in our tank died. We had some of those fish for several years and we have to completely clean the tank and start over. When we complained to the store, they couldnt care less.

My go-to pet store.Love the self wash dog stations & the monthly discount coupons for dog food & treats.

I got a parakeet, it doesn’t seems healthy so I asked the owner if it had any warranty, he said it does have 14 days if something happens with the parakeet, 2 days after that the parakeet died, we came back to the store and he refused to give us the money back just assuming that parakeet died for our fault.We have dogs, cats, fish, parakeet and we take good care of them. And he blamed on us.

The young staff member helped carry my dog food from the shelf, to the checkout counter, and into my car. I have 2 dogs so it was quite the large food bag! He was immensely helpful and kind. Excellent service! 5/5

This is the third time I went to this store and cannot believe the rude customer service provided. I have been going here since they first opened and theyve always been very nice and helpful, especially the owners wife. However the last three times the employees working there it is almost impossible to find any help. The workers are scarce and when you do find one they dont want to be bothered. I frequent this store to obtain crickets and other supplies for my reptiles and the last three times I have encountered the same rude employees. The front staff tells you to look in the back of the store for help and the one person you find working in a random isle has a terrible attitude. Today was the last straw. They had an entire crate of large crickets and the girl refused to give me any. With a nasty tone in her voice she said they were out of crickets, meanwhile there was a crate full of them right in front of me! I said what about these, she then stated we havent received our shipment yet and these are for the ones in the store and walked away. No customer service skills whatsoever, just attitude and didnt want to be bothered. She simply just doesnt care. This store will no longer receive my business!

If you get something defected or not working properly from this store , all you hear from the owners wife is “we can’t take it back , because we will loose money “🤑

This place is a joke go to pet mart where they price match cheaper prices owner is classless. Tons of complains from our community better shops to support locally from people that actually live in our area. Owners cry broke all the time no one wants to hear your sob stories. So many 1 star review because of the owners. Go other places and they will price match everything from online. Do support this store and get these ignorant people out of our beloved community

A few days ago, I had a rude encounter with the owner’s wife as I entered the store. This was not the first time I experienced an unprofessional encounter but was willing to give it another try. I immediately left and went to PetSmart where I had a great experience and walked out with a lovely hamster and all the necessary supplies. I will not be returning to Pet Supplies Plus and have made friends and family aware to shop elsewhere.

@maddy cohen this is Paul’s wife please correct yourself, in this situation that food was in your fridge for over a week, MY HUSBAND PAID FOR THE FOOD AND YOUR EMPLOYEES HAD NO ISSUE WITH SELLING IT TO US. When you call screaming and being unprofessional my husband still offered to bring it back but you began calling him names in that case that you just wanted an apology. Which is ridiculous you don’t run a store and think you can speak to people how ever you want. I have reached out to corporate because as we tried making the situation better you still went on telling my husband to be a man for what reason ? Because you’re lazy and don’t want to order more food ?On top of that hun you have never ordered us any special food we always bought tundra. You are nobodies mother but your kids and no one’s wife but your husband so act like the store manager you are and treat people correct

I was met with rudeness. My mother introduced me here when I got a cat and moved out. Every time since coming here a woman, named Matty, constantly asks if my mother goes there and when I say yes, Im told its one account per household. I dont live with my mom and she deactivated my account even though I live on the other side of the county.I well now use to come here cause its close to my job. Will no longer support this business after this treatment

Probably THE WORST place I have ever walked in to to wash my own dog.It is a shame that myself & other local friends can no longer come here because we have had enough with the rudeness from specifically the manager . I have given it many tries & it only gets worse. I am amazed each time how she is always arguing with someone in front of everyone.We have found an amazing spot in Mahopac that we are so grateful to have now.A shame.

Go elsewhere! Like many others who paid more for items, trying to support a local business, you end up being burned in the end if anything is defective and you try to return it. The owner, Maddie Cohen, is nasty and abrasive. She recommends you return items purchased there to Petco or Petsmart so she will not lose money, or to contact the manufacturer even when you are within the return period and have a receipt. She will make a scene, insult you, and will put you on trial for your return. She was even nasty to her cashier and scared my rescue pup and child. After refusing to argue with her and taking my item back she said she did not want people like me to shop there again. People who expect their items to function correctly, and follow the return policy. Not worth the headache when you can get way better customer service at any other pet supply.

Very helpful and courteous staff. They have a great selection of food, treats, and toys. My regular shopping spot for my pet needs.

Had a really great experience at this store! Owner was very knowledgable and helped us get the supplies for our foster dog. One of the employees, Andrew, was also very knowledgable and attentive when finding us supplies and giving us advice. He helped in setting up a crate and transferring it to our car! 5 stars!!

We pet-sit my sister’s dog on occasion, and whenever we do, we always shop at Pet Supplies Plus to stock up on his food and get him some treats. The store is always clean and well-stocked and there is always someone available to answer our questions. We love having them so close by!

Andrew is very patient and knowledgeable about fish he was a big help , the place is always kept clean even the restroom

I purchased a 10 gallon fish tank. After taking all the stuff off I found that it had 2 flaws/chips in the glass. At my earliest convenience I returned to get a store credit. I was refused and told (because it was after the 30 days) that I should’ve taken the 10 mins to return the tank while my husband and 3 year old were sick with the Flu instead of waiting.The owner was rude, unsympathetic, and argumentative. I will never set foot in this place again.

The owner, Maddy, is rude and condescending to customers. I had an issue to with her today at the register regarding a store card. I asked her twice to use my friends card, who had checked out only 60 seconds before me at the register(and was standing right next to me). She seemed to have forgotten or was just too absent minded to notice that she hadnt put it in. I waited in line 3 times for a savings of $2 whole dollars, that she so graciously reminded me of after fixing HER mistake. I would have purchased a few cans of cat food that were marked as $1.10, which ended up being a sale sticker placed in the incorrect spot. After showing her the sale sign, she asked if I wanted her to take it off. I thought she meant she would be selling it to me for the marked price, albeit incorrect. What she meant was that she would be removing it from the purchase altogether. Regardless of whose mistake it was, you are supposed to honor the marked price. She then proceeded to complain to a gentleman nearby about the sales stickers being placed in the incorrect spots. Simply based on this ridiculous experience, I will not be returning to this place because of her. Thanks for the $2.

I’m an experienced fish keeper that’s been keeping fish for 10+ years. I went here and tried to buy 3 fish I knew would live and the lady refused to sell me the fish. I called her over and asked her to buy the fish when the “manager” came over told me I have to leave the store and when I tried to tell her I knew what I was doing she told be I looked like a 5 year old.

Bathed our 2 german shepherds in the self wash here. A generally good experience. The tall young man who assisted us was very helpful. He wouldnt accept a gratuity. A valuable employee!

Very nice place employees definitely knew their stuff recommended me some highly useful items. I only wish there was a little bit more supplies for lizard parents.

Rude nasty lady yelled at me for not wearing a mask (I have a medical condition and don’t even wear one on planes). I asked if she had one so I can checkout with my items she said no and I can go next door and buy one then come back. She then asked me if I knew we were in the middle of a pandemic. She totally belittled me in front of everyone. Not even like I was saying no I won’t wear one, I asked for one (with my medical condition I never have one on hand). While she stood there and barked at me she could’ve easily checked me out. When I called my husband upset he said “why do you keep going back there you know that lady always attacks people”. And BOY is he RIGHT!!!! I was on the phone with a family member, she said for me to order from chewy and I’ll receive 15% off with auto ship and won’t have to deal with insane people.Did I mention we’re about to have a snow storm and I’m 6 months pregnant and had to leave to go look for dog food elsewhere at 7pm!!!!!!!Long story short STAY AWAY!!!!!!

Eerything worked perfectly. Prices were great and the staff was wonderful. What a convenient way to shop. Its a pleasure to have something work so well with all we have had to deal with.

The staff is really rude (every time I’ve gone in here the woman is picking a fight with a customer) and they’re really over priced. And don’t even bother trying to make a reasonable return, because they won’t take anything back. This pet store is conveniently located for me and I still will not go here.

Months ago I came in and bought food to be donated to 3 pits that were found in terrible condition. The owner stated all over Facebook and in the store that it would be donated to those dogs and that organization. After following up with the organization they informed me the dogs were in a much better place but nothing had been donated from this store or by the owner. It has passed but still bothers me, seems like she just used this terrible situation to increase sales. Again it was a while ago but I’ve been debating writing this ever since I found out.

My friend and I went to pet supplies plus frequently to use the self wash pet station. Last time we were there after our dogs were soaked one of the employees came into the wash station and informed us that the shampoo in the hose was not working. They stated its not working, why dont you go pick up a bottle of shampoo from the aisle. We did just that. It appeared that he was comping the bottle of shampoo as we had just paid for the washes and they were now not working. We used a small portion of the shampoo, washed our dogs, and left leaving the remainder of the shampoo behind. When we returned to the store to wash our dogs again my friend was confronted and the evident miscommunication was explained. The situation was handled horribly by the staff and my friend was still forced to pay for the bottle that she used about 1/16th of and was made on part of an error in miscommunication of THEIR staff. Overrall thought it was the attitude of the employees there that was the issue.

Every time I go in to buy mealworms they never have them. I wish my leopard gecko ate dog or cat food they have more than enough of that. Staff is nice though. That’s why they got 2 stars from me.(update) I have been back to try and get mealworms. They’ve had them every time. Brought the stars up.

Friendly helpful workers, lots of pet supplies , anything you need. Some fish birds, rodents and reptiles for sale.Best part about this place is the dog washing station. You can purchase a card for multiple washes and they have a great shampoo, wash, dry setup. Saves your house from the mess...

A great mid size pet store with everything you need including grooming. The help was incredibly friendly. When I asked for something I wasnt told to go to whatever aisle, but was walked directly to my product and had any questions answered about it.

Decent selection, the older women at the register had a KAREN meltdown yesterday screaming at the other employees all because people were not wearing masks in the store. I understand her frustration but not something that should happen in front of customers. Put a VISIBLE sign at the front door and in front of customers dont be KAREN. I will only go there now if I absolutely need something.

The store itself.. fine. Always gotten along with the owners and have been a regular customer, granted of not anything super big. But accessories and such. I was just just treated really rudley by an employee named marissa. She was nasty and condensending and when I asked ger why she was being ride to me she barked that it was the end of her shift and contunued to be nasty. Ive never been treated like that before in a retail setting.

Excellent range of dog food including holistic options!! I buy my dog food from here since petsmart doesnt carry it. It also has a great selection of treats! However its a bit on the pricey side compared to bigger chain stores like petco and petsmart.

A girl here recommended the Heavenly Hounds calming treats. Thank you! This worked wonders on my nervous pup for a longer car ride we had planned.

The service here is great and the employees are even better. I washed my dog here the set up is great. I mostly definitely come back to Pet Supply Plus and I recommend you come here too.

I was there Tuesday with my 2 kids! There was a young lady cleaning the snake cage! She was so kind and patient with my kids! She introduced them to Cooper! The tanks are so clean! My kids want to go back tomorrow!

I asked someone for help choosing a new brand of dog food, he said his manager could help out. She came over and was pushing the store brand on me when I declined the store brand she informed me she was the owner and stood by the store brand. She proceeded to ask me if I would buy the store brand CVS allergy medicine instead of claritin? I said I would because I know the pharmaceutical companies are highly regulated and I was not sure of the regulation with dog food companies and would like to go with a brand I have heard of after I had a bad experience with PetSmarts Brand. She said it was the stupidest thing shes ever heard and wasnt trying to argue with me...... UMM OK? YOU ARE COMPARING DOG FOOD TO MEDICINE??? & My response is stupid? Safe to say I left and wont ever return..... If she is the owner she needs to work on people skills or hire a real manager.

Very nice, clean and organized, and they have things I need for my cat. They also offer, when Covid aint going on, clinic services and some other stuff. Ive never needed it but it seems good. Attached is a picture of my cat.

Big attraction is the diy dog wash. Stalls with wash, rinse and dryer hose. Way faster and easier than home wash and attendant mess.Other than that, average well stocked pet supply store. Easy to navigate, helpful staff

Store is always clean well stocked and customer service is friendly. I like the self- service wash and dry for dogs in the back of the store. It is well maintained and prices are fair.

Love this store. Clean and everyone is so friendly. The specific items I go for are so much cheaper than chewy & petco deliveries, Plus I dont have to wait.

Having 3 pets I shop here often. They always have what I need and all of the staff is very helpful. Maddie is a gem and I am so happy they are right around the corner.

While it is not the widest selection of pet items in the area, I tend to find everything I need for my cats. It is obviously a balance, the local PetCo is much larger, but the customer service is more personalized at Pet Supplies plus.

The owners are so nice and they have a great family run business. We love shopping here

HUGE store! Plenty of products, and the self dog wash is awesome. They supply shampoo, two towels, and a blow dryer for only $10.

This pet store has a large variety of anything you need for your pet...it also has a do it yourself doggy wash! So cool! Prices are comparable to Pet Smart...give this pet store a try!

I recently purchased a reptile light from Pet Supply Plus located at 3333 Crompond Road, Yorktown Height, NY 10598. The item was purchase back on July 22nd, 2022. The light bulb blew out on July 27th, 2022. Only 5 days later. I returned to the store with the damaged item and receipt. All I wanted was an even exchange for the item and the owner refused to honor the exchange, stating that there might have been a power surge in my house that blew out the light bulb. I never had a power surge during that time frame and I have plenty of other light bulbs in my house that are still working just fine. Plus I also have a power surge protector attached to my reptile setup. I have been going there sines the store opened and have spent a lot of money in the store. It’s unfortunate that the owner will lose a customer over a $12 light bulb. I will never return to this store to shop here. The owner is not the friendliest at all. It’s the older lady with the white hair. Her staff on the other hand are extremely pleasant to deal with. Hopefully this review will discourage people from spending their hard earned money in a store with people who work there that are not the friendliest towards their customers.

No longer allowing cats to their grooming services? Wont get any of our business anymore then. Legit never had a groomer say they cant cut cat nails only dogs have brought my cat here multiple times in the past. Owner may have hired some idiotic or lazy staff12/12/2023 Going to edit this review again since the owner reached out on here. Called the store again and again they are saying they will not work with cats only dogs. I believe if this is not policy you have some employees that are refusing to work with certain animals out of preference. Owners need to be active in their own stores

Didn’t get his name because he wouldn’t give it to me… Oh and Chris also stated that this store is a family owned operated, ok 😂 good one.UPDATE 12-20-23I called the store to speak to a manager on 12-19-23 don’t really know if I really spoke to a manager because when I told him my side of the story I felt like he didn’t believe me at all, he said was I’ll speak to Chris to see what he says, manager said he’ll call me back after he speaks to Chris, I still didn’t get a call back at all. I felt like he didn’t care at all didn’t even ask to fix the problem. I don’t think I was speaking to a manager because a manager would know how to make it right.12-21-23Yet it’s another day and I still haven’t heard back from a manager. That’s why I said I don’t think I was talking to a manager.12-28-23So yet a week goes by and I still haven’t heard anything from the manager at this store. I got a phone call from the company, lady said she was goin to call me back the very next day in the morning to keep my cell with me, and it’s been a week and I haven’t gotten that call at all. I’m guessing this company just really doesn’t care about there customers at all, for everything I went through this just shows me a lot.

This is Maddy Cohen. I’ll first address Paul Cruz’s comment. Paul, it would be nice if you told the truth. Our customer orders Fresh Pet weekly as this is the only food his elderly dog can eat. When we put items on hold, they are only for the persons name on the product. You know this since we special ordered YOUR dog food on a regular basis.You didn’t steal from us, but you stole from the elderly dog who depends on this food.Secondly, to Olivia:We regularly have relatives of card members who shop using their parents club card. At no time have I ever denied a person from using their parents membership card.I wish both of you a happy future shopping elsewhere. In all honesty, I cannot expect any retailer who would welcome customers like you.

Are you providing grooming services to cats or not? We are told one thing one week another the next does ownership even know what goes on in this store?

Bait and switch...they are always out of sale items, and then try to sell you something else. The staff is rude.

I was reading the reviews and I just can’t believe this people I’ve been a shopping here for 3 years now and never had any issues not even returning OPEN dog food. The owner told me try the food and if you dog don’t eat it bring it back. Never had any issues with staff either.I’m giving 4 stars just because sometimes they are missing some food bag sizes and it takes a couple of days to get them in stock. Thats all !!!Support local you all !!!

I bought a green parakeet 2 days before, it died in my house (it was definitely sick) and I went and they didnt give me my money back and they didnt give me change. I will never return!!!!!!!

I suggest that all people get a pet so they can experience the pleasure of going to Pet Supplies Plus. Also,some of the dog bones have a rather pleasing taste and take the plaqque off my teeth.

Besides the fact that this store runs sales, and so many items are out of stock, the owner is extremely rude. It is unfortunate, because the rest of her staff are very friendly, helpful and knowledgable. I will not make the mistake of shopping here again no matter how good the sales appear to be**Dont believe the response from the owner. She flat out told me that she didnt care if I shopped elsewhere, and walked away. We had only asked her to honor a store coupon because we didnt have internet access to find it on our phone, and she blamed it on corporate offices.

Awesome store! Staff is extremely friendly, huge supply of products for any type of pet, and great prices. The owner Jeff helped me and it he was extremely nice and attentive towards my needs. I highly recommend this place for your pet supplies.

Friendly staff. New to this store but it had what I was looking for.

Very clean, well organized,staff is super friendly and courteous. Jeff and Maddy the owners are great people and go out of their way for the customers along with their son Eddie who also works there. Great selection of all your pet product needs and the prices are great. If they dont have it they will go out of their way to get it for you. Very happy with pet supplies plus only place I go for my pet needs. Finally saw the puppy wash back of the store so have to bring our 2 boxers in for a wash. Why mess up the bathtub at home and hurt my back leaning in when they have high wash tubs specifically for dog washing.

Very disappointing. Had nothing I was looking for and no one around to help.

Staff are friendly and knowledgeable. The fish, reptiles, and animals are obviously well cared for, which for me is a deal breaker if theyre neglected. And they have a huge bearded dragon named Gerald in the front.

Our go to place for quality dog food and attentive personnel to help you when needed. We use their DIY dog wash station which is very convenient and keeps the mess and clean up with them instead of our house.
