Been here about once a week since getting my 3 month old puppy, they carry my pups food holisitc health extension . Every staff I have met has been extremely helpful and knowledgeable. Sebastian helped me with picking an antler for my pup for teething & provided me on pointers for crate training. So grateful for this store

I love this place! Amanda is the most helpful person I’ve ever met. A friend of mine adopted a kitten and had no idea where to start so I went over to modern pet to make him a little care package but then realized I don’t know much about kitten care either. Amanda was extremely help when it came to getting the right items! I feel like I don’t get this kind of help at big name pet stores.

Overall experience there was great although I shop very independently I know the workers there have great knowledge in the supplies they carry. I love how they carry the brand I need for my cat (Koha cat food)! Prices may seem high but if you compare their high end products to the original company prices, they are not as expensive as you would think (plus think of shipping fees!) Great place for getting some things for your dog or cat. The staff are very helpful and patient. The best thing is that your dog is welcome too. The prices are high but they are of good quality and you get what you pay for. If you dont like it, you can always bring it back. I bought a dog sweater for my cat because I needed something to replace the cone that was around her head. It was pricey but shes not complaining. With the sweater, I dont have to worry about her licking her wound. Perfect.

Great pet shop. Its always great to help support local business and getting deals on quality products while doing it. Looks like a fancy pet boutique but pricing is very competitive with the well known online retail giant and big box pet stores. Spoke with the owner, Sean, and much of the staff on several visits and they are extremely attentive to your needs, highly knowledgeable and clearly know pet food and products in general. Sean has trained his staff very well and has an impressive shop and its always a pleasant experience when stopping in to grab puppy food and treats.

The best pet store I have ever been in all of Queens. Came here with my girlfriend just to buy a new dog bowl and ended up getting advice on what tools to use to brush my dog who sheds like crazy as well as help with what nail clipper to use and how to use it. The customer service is one of the best I have ever experienced since moving to NY, every single employee was so helpful and kind.

An absolute gem of a place! The customer service is extraordinary and the prices are pretty great. I got a large dog bed that I saw online for $99.99 for only $70 at their store. As soon as I walked in the employees were there to greet me and ask me if I needed any help. All the products are top quality and I am so happy to have found such a great local business.

I took my dog for a grooming and they cut Her really bad under Her chin. They didn’t even bother to tell me I noticed my dog was shaking and got fever. I had to take her to the vet She was in so much pain for a week. I called the place told them what happened they asked for pictures after that they didn’t bother to call me or check how my dog was doing. I will never go back there horrible place

I’ve been taking My Yorkie to get groomed there for a few years now. MarriAnn does an amazing job. My little guy doesn’t get anxiety when he’s there and always comes out looking like a show winner! Highly recommend MarriAnn.

Just found this gem! We were in the area and looking for a place to get some high quality cat food for a sensitive stomach foster cat. Gianna and the other young lady working were courteous and helpful. I explained to Gianna that the cat I am fostering has some skin issues and she offered a sample of a oil for the skin! So thoughtful! Will definitely return!

There is a tall guy with curly hair that works here, I wished I knew his name, he is very helpful and kind. He helps me to find exactly what I was looking for, which was bird food for wild birds. The store was well stocked, neat and clean, also the price seemed reasonable. Overall, Ill definitely shop here again.

The place is filthy and disgusting.The groomers had to cut my dogs nails but when i got them back one nail was bleeding very badly and he is a very calm and nice dog when doing that kinda stuff. The place is over priced and the worker is constantly flirting with me when my girlfriend is there. They have no knowlodge of being valid workers so i dont recommend and i will never step in here again!!!!

Shawn is very kind and knows a lot about pet food. He takes the time to explain the key things you should look for in dog food whether u buy it from him or not. All staff are very kind friendly and patient. They treat you very well and help you if you need your pet fitted for anything.

This is no place to shop. One of the employees constantly spend time on there phones and dont care to check up on customers. To add on the boss Sean disrespected me and my husband and started yelling at everyone in his store. I purchased my primal food and almost all of it was melted and in bad quality from the store.The boss is apperently a retired police officer but he takes out all of his anger on his employees and his customers,constanly taking out his electric cigerretes and blowing it into peoples faces.Not to mention one tall male employee with curly hair kept making jokes about me and my dog. This is no place to shop and i recommend other places like petsmart,maybe the products are better but the customer service is horendous.

My pup was having problems with her hips, tried everything online and on Amazon with minimal relief. Walked into this store and within 2 days the chews they provided got my pups irritating me like a puppy again!!!Staff kept checking in if I needed something, honestly I prefer the quiet so it was a little annoying. Their products are well stocked and always fresh. Quality over quantity type of joint...My new dog-everything shop. Free parking lot...!!! They do grooming but Ive never tried it.

This place ruined my dog. He’s a Bijapoo. His beauty is his curly hair. I told them 5x just a TRIM. I didn’t recognize my own dog when I picked him up. He was shaved to the skin. My 8year old was hysterical crying. When I approached the rude owner I got “ nothing I can do”. Shame on them. They are terrible

The best Pet Supply Shop in the Bayside area, especially for pets other than dogs. Everything else will have mediocre products (except a couple of dog boutiques in the area). Modern Pet delivers, they have all the higher end wholesome foods, and a selection for owners who want to spend a little more to give their pets quality products. But take note : their prices are incredibly reasonable, and they often have sales, and a shopping points program for regulars. Cant recommend them highly enough. Most of the staff is tremendously helpful.

Great place to visit, the staff is very knowledgeable and friendly . They all know about the best treats, foods and toys for your animal . The day time supervisor/manager is loved by all pets that visit the store . Modern pet is the place to go to for you pet needs. I’ve been coming here for 3 years straight now never a disappointed. If an item isn’t in’s rock they’ll order it and either text or call you to notify you that it’s there and they’ll even hold it for you. Now that’s service !!

I shopped at this place a few months ago and the cashier asked me if I wanted a receipt or not. I usually say no but when I got home, the jacket I bought my dog did not fit. Unfortunately, I did not have the time to go back to until today but I also thought I had no time limit. Of course, the manager tells me they have a very strict return policy apparently. The type of jacket was still offered at the store and I even found the size I needed. I asked the manager if I can just do an even exchange and she still refused. It would be nice if they warned us about the return policy or simply just always give us the receipt so we are aware of the store policies. I refuse to shop here again. It was very unreasonable, especially since the jacket still had the tag and was in great condition.

I needed dog food and I got to the store about 5 minutes after closing. The front door was locked but I could see the staff inside cleaning up for the night. I knocked on the door and asked him if I could make a fast purchase. There was no problem, the unlock the front door I got the food and I was out in a few minutes. This ladies and gentlemen is the definition of great customer service. like many other businesses sorry were closed come back some other time. Just keep this in mind next time you want to just order something from chewy

There arent enough great things to say about Modern Pet. They have become family to my partner and I as well as our fur babies. They genuily care about their customers and pets needs. They are simply good people! Their prices are very reasonable and they only sell high quality products. We were sad to leave them when we moved to FL, but rest assured, the second we came back to NY to live for a few months, our first stop was to Modern Pet to pick up where we left off... picking out the cutest outfits for our dogs and spoiling them with sample treats! I have no idea how people can write anything bad about this well run establishment. We love Modern Pet!

This store is THE place to go to find fantastic, well-researched, holistic foods for your pet. I have been in several times, and spoken with multiple employees and the owner. All were very well-informed, especially the owner, who even offered to start stocking a specific brand of wet cat food if I decided to make it my primary product for my 3 kitties. I had a similar conversation with one of the employees, who had said that they purposely stocked a certain kind of food for a repeat customer. On a rare occasion, I have asked for a product (silvervine-a catnip alternative) they did not have knowledge of, and before I left, the owner asked me specific questions on where I had seen information on the product, if I had tried it (I had) and what effects it had on my kitties (great fun!) and he WROTE DOWN everything Id said and indicated that if he found it safe and natural, he would seriously consider stocking it and even thanked me for bringing a product to his attention that had stumped him. In contrast, I had asked at a big-box pet store, and the teen clerks response was, Well, if we had it, itd be with the catnip...) As final accolade to this little store, they have already started finding ways to help homeless pets and are in the process of partnering with a rescue group (sorry, cant remember which one...) to sponsor adoption events. Really, a great store whose people truly care about animals and their owners. No, I am not affiliated with them (aside from being a customer, LOL) but I am so rarely impressed with retail that I felt I should relay my experiences for those looking for a high-quality pet store.

Everything was great for dogs and cats and littler mamals, but thats not the kind of pet supplies I was there for, I was there for fish stuff. They jumbled all the little bit of fish and reptile and bird stuff they had into one sad little corner of the store. It was very unorganized and very lacking. I was really hoping to not have to travel all the way out to whitestone to go to petco to get what I needed because I read and heard such great things about this place. They are great, just not for fish, birds and reptiles.

Stay Away! Rather than a happy well-groomed pet, my dog, Trixie, ended up with ten stitches and I ended up with a $645 vet bill after I took her to Modern Pet. They cut her skin deeply 24 minutes into her appointment and called me to hurry over and rush her to the vet. After the vet stopped the bleeding and stitched her up I went back to the groomer with the bill. The owner, Shawn, didn’t ask how she was doing and refused to take any responsibility for my Trixie’s injury. I said I would write a review sharing my experience and he rudely said, “Go ahead. I don’t care as long as you tell the truth” So here I am- telling the truth. If you care about your dog’s well being you will stay far away from this place.

Extremely expensive. MoreFor Paris Hilton and friends. Well I did see a young woman driving a Bentley convertible to go food shopping. Has options likePetco food but over priced. I even seen a bed in there for 490$ for dogs. But it was a bassinet , vintage style with the lace trim etc . Cat scratch post 75$.

I usually take my dog here to get his nails clipped and recently when I went he came back and 2 of his nails were bleeding and had powder on them but no one said anything. Very disappointed. Won’t be coming back.

Dont go to this store. I will not be returning. This store was at one time one of my favorites. I visited the bayside store with my pup and husband, bought a few items. As we had done in the past. My husband and I had the correct size fleece outfits for fur baby and the store clerk said it was not the correct size, so he got a larger size, that we learned was too large once we got home. I returned the two items for the exact same item only smaller, same price and was told that I had to pay the taxes on the exchange. I was in a rush so I paid it and left. So I paid taxes Twice. NEVER going here again!!! Never had to pay for an exact exchange before....Not cool.
