This is basically a dog-gated community. Im sure people from out of town would love to drop some money via venmo or whatever if that was an option available at the door (I get it, cover mowing, locks etc). The amount of rules just to bring a dog to play is borderline funny. Friends of Beacon is a bit of a misleading name IMO, because the point is not really to be friendly, its to make membership difficult so that only a select group of dogs can play there for the safety of the members. I propose Dogs of Beacon Country Club
The Beacon Dog Park is our happy place! We go every morning before work. If youre looking for a puppy party, there is a great crew that arrives 7am-8:30am-ish. Other peak hours tend to be around 5pm. The park features grass, wood chips, water, trees, pools, hills, tunnels, hurdles, agility equipment, toys, benches, picnic table, poop bags and lots of friendly dogs! We are so grateful to have a safe place to bring our dog to run off leash with her pals.
I was visiting a friend who lives in beacon and merely wanted to take my dog to a dog park. Can you believe this dog park requires membership? Ironic bc most who live in this town have backyards. A bit ridiculous especially for those that are just coming for a weekend or so. I walked all the way here from my friends house only to be turned away. Even though paying to access a dog park is not normal, I was willing to pay but there are no officials overseeing the park and they require all this paperwork and insurance. (Not something you’d have on hand unless you did research prior) - what’s next? Requiring humans to do the same to access a park?
Sad they made it members only. Passing through town and my doggie couldn’t go in
My dog really enjoys her visits to the park, and I enjoy socializing with members while the dogs play. Several people have posted negative reviews for the sole reason the park is not public, so I wanted to make sure accurate information is here. This park is a 501c3 organization. It is a private park, which requires membership. The membership fees pay for the upkeep and maintenance of the park, insurance, etc. Information about this is available on the parks website. So with that out of way, my dog and I have been going to the park for a little over a year now and its been great. She has plenty of room to run around and sniff to her beagle hearts delight. Its also helped her to be more friendly - she is a rescue and a bit timid but the park has really helped her get more comfortable with people and other dogs. We love the park!
Never have I experienced a pay to play dog park. Dont get me wrong, its very nice, size able and clean but when we brought our dogs we got a lot of sideways glances and averting of eyes. No one bothered to say hi or explain what the deal was (not that it was their responsibility to help us but it would have been nice) Unfortunately for us we will be driving our dog to another town to get a little socialization.
Seeing as how someone rated this park one star for no actual reason, I thought I would take the time to review this park with an accurate review. We have been members of the park for four years. My dog loves the other dogs shes met and I have appreciated the owners I have socialized with over the years. There is a strong feeling of community here and this is fostered by having a pay structure in place: the members of this park have a vested interest in ensuring this park is a positive place for us and our pups. With a volunteer staff, much in the way of amenities cannot be expected, but there is fresh water and several benches to sit on. What more could be needed?
A couple of the people running it were rude to me. My dog is an angel and I did nothing wrong. I was made to feel unwelcome. Theyre control freaks on power trips. Im so glad I dropped out. I’m not the only one who was targeted by them, either. I saw another member made to feel unwelcome in an unjustified way, with no empathy or insight given to him. They were looking to make problems when there weren’t any. Felt like a high school pecking order there. If you like getting reprimanded for no reason, and smooching the power-wielding derrières, then this is the place for you.
I never had to pay to go into a dog park. Compared to every other dog park weve been to, this one by far is the smallest one. When we went, there werent any dogs around. All Foxx wanted to do was stretch his legs a bit. We recently moved and this dog park is the closest one. I get all dog parks have their rules set in place, but as far as charging goes thats ridiculous and Beacon should be ashamed. Unfortunately he wont be going as often as hes used to, due to work schedules. Middletown dog park is a great one. It is big, clean, always full of friendly dogs and they have obstacles and fresh running water for the dogs. Montgomery dog park is a beautiful large dog park as well. Cornwalls dog park is big, quiet and really makes you feel like you are somewhere in the country side. All of those dog parks are free, large and full of friendly people and their dogs. Beacon sucks for many reasons, but this tops it for me.
FYI this is a private dog park. We did not know and drove 45 minutes to come here. The dog park is locked and only paying members are given the keys. Someone there told us that it takes over a month to apply and get approved for access. Which we had known that before driving here.
This is a private park. Members only. Dont go unless you are a member.I was driving in the area with my dogs and thought, would be a nice thing for the dogs...Anyone, driving through cant just stop buy, but the park was nice enough for a walk.
The park is well kept everything was beautiful & the city of beacon park workers are very nice, friendly and helpful. I lost something, they had found it & was holding it for me. Thank you guys for caring about people and your parks.
A nice dog park, with multiple fenced off areas, for different sizes and activities. It is hard to find. When you enterbthe park from Fishjill Avenue, therebis an unmarked gravel road, on the right, heading uphill. The park is up that hill. There are no signs anywhere, that i could find, indicating a dog park.
Traveling with our dogs, this park looked amazing; however, upon arrival we found out that it was not a public park and keyed entry.
Maybe the only place to go for off leash. Good group of folks and dogs go there. Kind of smells if the weather is just right. People need to pick up their poop. Most do some do not.
Dog parks & parks should be free to everyone!! Do they need to interview me and my dog?
This park is so perfect! The people are friendly And all of us are always directing our dogs so no problems occur. My dogs run so much there!
Nice dog park, but watch youre dog and other dogs, they might not get along , pick up after your dog. Nobody likes stepping into number 2 .
We were on a road trip and needed a place to run our puppy. Members only dog park. Bad vibes.
My great niece was playing baseball first game of the year how weather Works Cole I didnt think of it because I got into the game
My dog enjoys this park but I donet because the big holes in the driveway on the hill and in the parking lot.
Looking for a quick place for the dogs to play before hanging in Beacon and its private? Na.
Fairly open space for dogs to run. They have a small section for smaller dogs . The views are nice
Awesome park!
It would be nice if this park CLEARLY stated on google that you must have a MEMBERSHIP to access.
Great idea for the dogs. But I would watch your pet closely, you never know other animals..
*bark* *bark* *bark bark bark!*Sorry, my dog got my phone and wrote this review!
Kids had a blast but parking was limited stayed 2 hours
Dog park requires membership for entry. No single day passes.
Nice place however you need a membership which is expensive and theres a ton of requirements for your pet
Unles you have a key you wont be able to go in even the pet owners are rude i was just spending the day in beacon nope gotta get a permit!
Community-sustained initiative and yet you need to pay for a permit to use it... Which should be expected from Beacon
Its my park. I love it, thats why Im a founding member.
Awesome place to visit, great obstacle course...
Did not go to dog park. Took grandchildre to playground
We drove out of our way to visit on a roadtrip, only to discover this is a “members only” dog park with a complex joining process that takes more time than we had.If you are passing through with a restless puppy, be aware that this is a place of false hope and disappointment.
A lovely wooded areA to walk, with both shaded and open areas
Greens are getting better every year
Cool, too bad its all in the matrix
Didnt get to go in here. Yearly fee no day passes. Disappointed 😩
Its private must need a key .

Food was good, but coffee, terrible.

It is a family place and there are also logs and obstacles for you to train your dog, a few meters away you can also find a skatepark, not as good, but still fun
