Staff is amazing. They have created a very caring environment for all of their animals in need of adoption. Everyone was very knowledgeable and so helpful in finding us a pair of cats that were comfortable and compatible with us. We took home two cats with us and they have become a part of our family so quickly. My wife and I are so grateful that SPCA exists and for the service they provide.
I had an amazing experience. They have a great variety of dogs of different ages and breeds, including Labrador mixes and doodles. They are fully vetted and up to date on shotsSpay and neuter is included. I found a beautiful puppy and my friend adopted her beagle there 11 years ago. Highly recommend.
This adoption experience was the best I’ve encountered. Firstly, the building is state of the art and all animals are treated with the utmost care. Secondly, the application process is seamless. We got our little senior Pekingese the same day—in and out of the building (application, meet & greet, questions, payment, etc) within 2hrs. All staff members are so friendly and helpful—you can tell they really care about all the animals there and want to find them all loving homes. SPCA Westchester is the BEST! I would recommend to come here to anyone looking for a furry pet to welcome into their home ♥️
My boyfriend and I were interested in adopting another dog and ended up coming here! We had a wonderful experience! They asked us to fill out a questionnaire to help find what type of dog we would be interested in adopting and the workers brought us to meet all different types of dogs and we were lucky enough to fall in love with one in particular! She was already spayed and had already gone through a check up and first round of shots! They answered every question that had come up even ones regarding how our senior dog would get along with the new dog and we even were able to bring him to meet her beforehand! We would definitely adopt from here again!
The staff at the SPCA were so helpful and matched me up with the friendliest cat. The cat was a perfect fit for my other cats and dogs. The staff was so supportive and I feel like so many animals are being helped with a lot of compassion.
We adopted our pup about a month ago from the SPCA in briarcliff and had nothing but a wonderful experience. Upon entering the building I was impressed with how clean and up to date it was. The application process was very easy. The staff was kind and helpful. Our pup was cared for and up to date on her medical care. They had a wide variety of puppies and dogs. Once we found the pup we wanted the process was quick and easy to bring her to her forever home!
The whole experience was awesome.. We walked around and saw a few pups that were adorable but none of them stole our heart until we met Cole. We fell in love with Cole as soon as we saw him. Thank you SPCA!It was a wonderful experience from start to finish. We are truly grateful for our perfect adoption.
If I had to be a shelter pet, take me here. Animals looked happy, were clean and well cared for. We were greeted by a nice person as we entered. We pre-filled the application which made the process go smoothly. We talked with the adoption counselor. She took us around and showed us potential animals that fit our wants. She told us about each animal we interacted with. She never rushed us. The adoption process from start to finish was not stressful, we never felt pressured to take an animal we were unsure of, and we eventually found the perfect pet.
My daughter is already asking to have her next party at the SPCA, so consider that a rave review! What an amazing experience for her and her friends to learn about a great organization, enjoy some enriching activities and have fun with animals. Lisa and her volunteers at the SPCA are so organized, creative, personable, and fun—they commanded the room of excited seven year olds and that’s saying a lot! All of the parents who attended had such good things to say about the party and everyone left so happy! We loved every minute!
I can’t not say enough about this establishment!! Every single person we met was just incredibly kind and knowledgeable. After we told our story about our kitty at home and what we were looking for, multiple people began telling us about different kitties that could be a fit. The fact that the staff knows each kitten is amazing!! I was so blown away by everyone there and also how clean the facility is!!! We went home with “cow” who’s now named Willow. She is settling in and so happy! I can’t recommend SPCA of Westchester enough!!!! Thank you for all you do for these animals! Thank you for the take home goodies for Willow too!!! We are eternally grateful!! ❤️
Our experience with the Westchester SPCA during the adoption process of our dog was nothing short of extraordinary. After several visits with him, we felt incredibly supported by the compassionate staff and volunteers who were committed to ensuring a smooth transition for everyone. They went out of their way to make sure everything was handled with care and professionalism.Lisa took the time to patiently walk us through his personality and how best to integrate him into our home. Lisa’s genuine care for his well-being and her dedication to making sure we felt prepared for the adoption made a huge difference in the process. It was clear that she wasn’t just doing a job—she was invested in finding the best outcome. The volunteers were also a vital part of this experience. Their kindness and enthusiasm were apparent from the start. They spent countless hours with our pup, fostering him and providing the love and attention he needed to feel more at ease. Their efforts in helping him grow more comfortable and confident truly shined through, making each visit more special and helping us get to know him even better. The dedication of the entire team at the Westchester SPCA made this process feel personalized and positive. Their collective efforts ensured that he found a home where he could thrive, and they made us feel like a part of their community along the way. We are incredibly grateful for their hard work, which turned what could have been a stressful process into a wonderful journey of bringing him into our lives.
Cleanest venue I’ve ever hosted a party at - who knew! Loved all around hosting my 11 yo daughter’s birthday here. It was fun and informative. A couple of girls wanted to return to either host their own party or volunteer. The ladies who helped us setup were so kind & helpful, and Lisa was a saint in fielding all my questions.May do it again next year and invite those whose couldn’t attend this year’s party. Keep up the great work you do for the animals & teaching us all how to be better people to animals.Michelle M.
I was looking to adopt a friendly senior cat and SPCA Westchester had the perfect pet for me. They patiently showed me different cats and the last cat I met was the one. They followed up with me after the adoption.Sera is doing great in her new home. She follows me around and adores my granddaughter. I would definitely recommend the SPCA Westchester for cat adoption.
We adopted Benji in June 2022. A wee lad - shepherd lab mix about 35 lbs; now about 76 lbs of big puppy, turning 3 on Jan 6 and such a great doggo! Trains well (except for jumping - and nail trims!) Travels like a champ and is exceptionally well behaved in pet friendly hotels. Love him to pieces.
I have nothing but good things to say about Westchester SPCA! My family had a wonderful experience adopting our new family member Olivia (Olive). The staff patiently assisted us with the process of getting our anxious girl to be comfortable enough to bring her home. They also made sure we had all the right tools and support to set her up for success. You can tell that everyone there really cares about each and every animal. If you are looking for a new furry addition to your family, I would definitely recommend this place!
The SPCA of Briarcliff Manor is an amazing, clean establishment with a dedicated and caring staff. The grounds are clean and very welcoming. The process of adopting our sweet puppy was so smooth and such a pleasure. From the moment we stepped into the SPCA to the moment we adopted and took home our beautiful puppy, it was a wonderful and joyful experience. Most importantly, I have been contacted by the SPCA after our adoption to check in and make sure all is going well. It’s obvious they take placement very serious and care for these animals very much. We are so grateful and very happy this little one is forever a part of our family! If you are ready to adopt I highly recommend the SPCA of Briarcliff Manor.
Was so impressed by their compassion and professionalism when I went there for a specific rescue dog. Everyone, from front desk to a volunteer who went above and beyond to get information about the particular dog, was exceptional. I also appreciated the time the staff animal behaviorist gave me to address questions and concerns. Even more surprising, and much appreciated, was the follow up from the SPCA after weve been living with the new dog for a month. Much, much better experience than dealing with breed specific rescue groups. Couldnt recommend more strongly.
The best experiences for my 10 year old daughter. She also had her birthday party here and they again made it one experience to remember. Lisa Fello is very knowledgeable and did a great job!!!
Co worker and I adopted this brother sister duo at your pop up adoption fair.it’s almost 2 weeks of having them both and they are doing well and get to play with each other often.
We adopted Zeus, who is a small Rottweiler mix. He is absolutely wonderful… Has an amazing disposition, loves to play with everyone. We are thrilled, and will consider adopting another dog in the future. Our experience at the Westchester SPCA was wonderful. We were treated very well. It is clear that the animals in that shelter are their number one concern. I highly recommend this facility.
My family’s experience with Westchester SPCA WAS AMAZING!!!!!!My neighbor was fostering a puppy who I absolutely fell in love with and decided to adopt. The adoption process was smooth sailing and before we knew it we were picking up our new found pup!!!!! The support we received from the fostering family and SPCA made this happen and so special!!!
SPCA is a wonderful place to adopt from. The staff is very professional and compassionate. The building itself is beautiful and very clean. The animals are well cared for. I am so happy that I adopted my beautiful Rubi from their establishment.
Last weekend, my daughter had her 10th birthday party at the SPCA of Westchester in Briarcliff. All the children had a great time making dog treats and toys for cats. We also had an educational tour and an opportunity to meet all of the animals up for adoption. If you are looking for an affordable and unique birthday party idea for your child, try the SPCA of Westchester. You will not be disappointed. We also surprised our daughter with a new pet!
What a wonderful place filled with so much love. I adopted a cat and it was amazing. Staff are all friendly and you can tell they care for the animals with all their hearts. Also love the simple, non invasive adoption process. Tell Liz Lil Roo says hello!
I recently adopted my dog Goose from here and i had such a great adoption experience. Everyone was so kind and helpful. The shelter is clean and spacious. The staff clearly care a lot about the animals in their care. Highly recommend!
My 1 year old Aussie Shepard needed to be spayed. He was a bit nervous so they had me stay with him in the waiting room and gave him the first sedative. 20 minutes later he was sleepy and fine going in with their aide. 24 hours later and he is fine if a bit quieter. Has a 24 hour pain med with breakfast
Visiting the SPCA Of Westchester was an amazing experience! I was greeted as soon as I walked in .I explained that I would like to adopt a kitchen . The process was extremely easy after filling out my application. Before I knew it I was walking out with 2 beautiful clean healthy kittens. The place was immaculate and the bigger animals had rooms to play in with furniture to climb on . The staff was so knowledgeable and friendly. I will only adopt from the SPCA for now on .
My son’s birthday party at SOCA Westchester was absolutely fantastic! The facility is beautiful and spacious, the volunteers ran the party with so much positive energy, and the kids had a blast making treats for and learning about the animals. Of course the highlight was meeting sweet Arrow, gorgeous husky who needs a home. We cannot recommend this party enough! Thank you SPCA Westchester!
This shelter was absolutely lovely. They obviously care very much for the animals and getting adopters the best pet for their life.I didn’t take any photos while there so have photos of my beautiful son, Rupert, who’s thriving in his new home.
Outstanding experience! The staff at the Westchester SPCA is fabulous! We found a little cutie and are ecstatic. SPCA helped us with training tips and feeding ideas. They followed up to see how everything was going. Couldn’t ask for a more enjoyable transition. Thank you Westchester SPCA from all our 2 & 4 legged family members.
This was a wonderful experience! We met aMobile unit at the firehouse. All the workers were very helpful, encouraging, kind and clearly animal lovers.
Great experience! This place is one of the cleanest shelters I have been to. From the moment you walk in, you can tell that the animals are loved and well taken care of. The staff is patient and kind and did not rush the process, they made sure we were able to really bond with a puppy before making our final decision. I recommended this shelter to my neighbor who adopted his puppy two days after I got mine! Go here, this place will not disappoint!!
I have adopted 2 cats from here and they were both wonderful experiences. It’s such a stark difference from the city shelter, I’m sad to say. The enriching environment clearly helps the cats, as they are less prone to issues like at the city shelter. They ask you what you are looking for and they let you spend time with the animal to make sure it’s the right fit. I’ve never felt rushed or pushed into anything. They answered all my questions. The staff and volunteers seemed genuinely happy both times we left with our little rascals. I’d definitely recommend this place!
Camp Critter was the most wonderful experience for my 7 year old animal lover. She continues to ask when she can return! She learned so much about animal rescue, care and rehabilitation and has a new outlook on how she can contribute to the world. Highly recommend!
Amazing place! So clean, the cats have space to play and be with other cats in beautiful rooms decorated like a library, a jungle, etc. They are cared for a staff who clearly love cats and by multiple volunteer cat socializers who enjoy their company. Such a nice environment!
We adopted a 15-week old puppy and it was a great experience. Excellent support, information and follow up. They have some super cute dogs that need a loving home.
I gave SPCA OF WESTCHESTER 5 stars because I couldn’t give them 6 or more. The entire staff was very helpful in my getting my Furever companion. The facility was clean modern and comfortable.Carly has been a pleasure and has adapted to our home nicely.
A very nice shelter. The staff were so helpful and the animals seemed well cared for. After bringing Maya Mae home, they reached out to make sure all was well.
Had an great experience adopting our dog. Sent in application, walked in without an appointment, met a trainer, saw some dogs and took home our new best friend all on the same day. We were also given up to date health info, since they do a checkup before listing their animals for adoption. Staff was fantastic and involved and helpful. Animals look like they are treated well. Could not recommend this place enough!
Since I came to live in NY Westchester County, I want to adopt a dog because I had them from where I remember. My parents always allowed us to have dogs, so we had them; also, my sister was able to pick up dogs from the street who were abandoned in the middle of the highway back in Perú.I came ones to the old building in 2004 but because I was living in an apartment I didnt adopt one.Today, I came with my 7 years old son to donate money and show him how this dogs, cays live here. Now they have this amazing brand new building, and that is wonderful. We walk around and we saw this cats in adoption status and my son was able to pet them and feel in some way what feel to be inside there waiting for some one (hero) to give them a second opportunity to be happy or maybe to give them the happiness they never had.Unfortunately, the dig is was I. Quarantine so we cant got in, but we will be back in 2 weeks, no matter we can adopt one or not, we will donate some so we can be sure if we cant have one now, we can help them to be there with food and supplies until some one, with the correct background can take them home.It is a good feeling to watch where the donations go and how good their stuff take care of all the animals.I dont work there and I do not know about the rules but if you go there you will find an answer to all your questions. Please consider donating and bringing your children so they can understand how important it is to adopt or donate to this cause.
SPCA Westchester is a wonderful partner of Putnam Service Dogs. They patiently allow our Head Trainer the private, quiet space she needs to assess promising pups. They very responsive to our needs. Their shelter is clean, and well run. We highly recommend them as a source of dogs or cats. Nancy Teague, CEO/Founder, Putnam Service Dogs
By far the most amazing adoption center Ive been to.. recommended by a friend. Cute pups and cats of all. Welcoming staff members😊..thank you Liz for helping us through the process..🐾🦮
The whole cat adoption process went really well. The fee was a little more expensive than other places we contacted but they included a very nice carrying case, many toys, food and even a bag of litter to start!. Everyone at the Briarcliff SPCA was helpful and knowledgeable!!
I manage the maintenance for the adjacent property. Ive plowed snow for the SPCA before. Great place. Great caring people.
After my dog Pepper passed away in January, I fostered three dogs from SPCA Westchester (an excellent experience which I highly recommend!), then in May I returned to the shelter, ready to adopt again. Eileen (the SPCA Westchester Foster Coordinator) introduced me to Otis, and within minutes I knew he was the one for me. The adoption process went smoothly, all my questions were answered and soon after that Otis and I were on our way to his new forever home. Thank you to Eileen and the staff at SPCA Westchester for the excellent care they provided to Otis; he is the absolute best, and has already brought so much happiness to our lives! If you are looking to adopt, I highly recommend SPCA Westchester!
When I adopted my dog here in 2017 for a national rescue day adoption event I was treated very poorly by an adoption volunteer. He was even cursing and annoyed at any question I asked. I ended up still adopting my dog but was not told that she had been fixed either the day of or day before and was not told to limit her activity. The day after bringing her home I realized her stitches were open and had to rush her back for care. I told the spca and they basically said “sorry we were busy” which I didn’t find to be an acceptable excuse considering the fact that it caused my then-puppy pain and discomfort. From there I told them of the adoption volunteer/employee’s behavior to which they told me that he had been with them for a long time and “sorry about that.” No accountability or actions to right the situation. At my dogs 1 year checkup she tested positive for heartworm despite being on preventative since her adoption. My vet concluded she was adopted with heartworm.i had to beg for the SPCA’s assistance in her treatment which was then met by attitude from their veterinarian throughout the entire excruciating treatment of my dogs heartworm. Once she began treatment it brought out another underlying condition: Addisons disease. The Spca offered no assistance with this and once again I was treated terribly by their veterinarian. I write this now because I’m seeing their online smear campaign of Penny Berk who is the only person aside from Katonah Bedford animal hospital. I love rescuing animals and want people to continue rescuing animals. My dog has cost me over $15,000 throughout her life. I will never support this organization again.
Excellent facility. I was impressed with the beautiful layout, cleanliness and care of all the animals there. The staff is great and you can tell they really care about the welfare of the animals there. We adopted a puppy and couldnt be more happy with her.
Adopting our puppy was so easy and such a pleasure! From the moment we stepped into the SPCA to the moment we adopted and took home our puppy, it was a great experience. Most importantly, I have been contacted by the SPCA after our adoption to make sure all is going well. It’s obvious they take placement very serious and care for these babies very much.I would definitely adopt at the SPCA again.
Great team!Almost zero waiting time and so clean! 👌🏻Thank you!Sharona & Libby Shaked
EXCELLENT!The staff were friendly and very helpful. They made the adoption process a breeze. We adopted Hannah a wonderful tabby cat. This place should be your first stop when looking for an animal companion. Highly recommended.
Full transparency that I volunteer at this facility. It is truly such a wonderful organization that takes such great care of animals. We recently adopted a second cat and the process was wonderful. I feel honored to be able to help this organization in any way.
Wonderful visit at this location! I came to just donate a few things, but decided to look at the cats and meet the most charming older cat named Mister Deeds! I ended up taking him home with me and hes such a delight! This SPCA had amazing staff who were able to answer all our questions were remarkably friendly. Many of these staff were volunteers, but still had all the answers. They also provided us with everything we needed to take Mister Deeds home that very day! They even will take care of medical issues with a newly adopted pet for the first 2 weeks that you have them! They also have a wellness clinic and a Vet on staff that helps take care of rescued animals! This location was very clean and the animals had areas where they could play and stretch their legs!Parking was plentiful so no worries their even when they are busy!Adopt a pet, especially an older pet who usually are liked over! Im sure youll love them so! Ive had Mr. Deeds for 2 months now and he is such a delight, he even is playful at the age of 11!
My 9 yo attended Critter camp at the SPCA Westchester and fell in love with the animals and the facility. She requested to have her 9th birthday at the SPCA and it was such a wonderful experience for the kids. Lisa is a pleasure to work with!
I had the best experience ever. I got my best friend here. She’s the best kitty I’ve ever met and she was so well taken care of before I adopted her! The facility is extremely clean and all of the animals are so well taken care of. I would recommend SPCA Westchester to anyone!
Clearly an organization who cares deeply about their animals. From Cody’s clinic on site who provide veterinary care, to the adoption personnel and volunteers who are do informative and kind. Was a wonderful adoption experience in their clean new digs! We feel we hit the dog lottery jackpot with our new dog Oliver!🐾
Had a wonderful experience adopting Cynthia the Cat. Staff at the SPCA were very thoughtful about which Cat would be a good match with Rigby our Cat that we had already and they were very friendly! Grateful for the assistance in making this great decision!
Brought my 2 pups to be spayed here. I wouldn’t recommend it. I didn’t have one compassionate interaction from the minute I opened the door to drop them off to the minute we picked them up to leave. No one confirmed what procedures we were there for. I stopped someone as they were rushing my dogs away to confirm they would also be getting a microchip. It’s an emotional time dropping your dog off to strangers and picking them up after surgery. I didn’t see a doctor before or after. I was handed the post op paperwork, meds and bill but there were 6, 7 or more different stacks for each dog being picked up. There were multiple people behind the desk, handing off dogs to owners by calling out the name on the paper but no eye contact or compassion toward the dog or dog parent.
We love our Westchester SPCA 💖This is our second adoption from your organization. We adopted Max about 18 years ago. We were absolutely heartbroken, in August when he passed away after being a loving part of our family for 17+ years. On May 6th, we went in to see which adult or teenage dogs were available. With your team members amazing guidance... we were matched with several available dogs and two puppies we might want to see. We immediately fell in love with Bacon 💖Thank you for your suggestions and help with our new puppy!! We have never had a puppy and to know the questions we have - you have many solutions!!Thank you for entrusting us with Bacon. She is the sweetest pup.Thank you,Bacon Brownes family
Adopted a dog from SPCA Briarcliff. The staff was very friendly, knowledgeable and caring. She was the perfect puppy for us. The cost is very reasonable. I would highly recommend adopting from here as they really care that your animal is the right fit for your family!
This place is absolutely amazing. We adopted our boy there 7 years ago and they did a great job with the fostering, training and the adoption process. I wish I could adopt all the pups!! But I know they are in good hands there. Great job saving these fur babies!!!
We recently adopted a puppy here. Everything was so clean and the dogs all looked really well taken care of. Thats amazing during this time with so many dogs in shelters and rescues! The entire experience was really nice and all the volunteers were so kind. The foster for out puppy really did an amazing job getting her ready for a home!
Everyone was kind and helpful throughout the process of finding the right dog for our family. Calls and emails were actually returned! After disappointing interactions with several private shelters in the area I cannot recommend this SPCA enough.
I have went to several places to look at adopting a new pet. But I have to say this place is by far the best! I adopting my dog here and the process was super easy! I definitely recommend adopting a dog/cat here.
I am most impressed with the caring attitudes of the staff, and the attention given to the health & well-being of the animals they are doing their best to re-home with a responsible pet- parent. I went to a mobile adoption event in Norwalk CT and Andrew showed me the kitties and was knowledgeable about their situations and I left happily with “Mama T” who is now Diana the Huntress! She is friendly and affectionate and I may be looking for another soon!
I adopted my best friend back in June, and I couldn’t be more grateful to the staff at SPCA Westchester. Everyone was incredibly kind, and dedicated to all of the animals there. For follow-up visits, we went to Codys Clinic for vaccines, and the vet techs and phone staff were patient and supportive, answering all my questions as a nervous new pet parent :) Highly recommend!!!
I brought home a great Lil puppy today . Is like she was made for me . . The s.p.c.a in Briarcliff is built so well for animals . The dogs and cats that spend there time there are so lucky to be in the environment these caring people have made them . In all it was a great experience that I shared with my daughter . ( if your looking for an edition to your family please check them out first it will be time saved )
Everyone at the shelter is clearly focused on the wellbeing of the animals, and that should be the most important thing. They manage to provide incredible service to the human adoptees as well. Great place!
The staff was knowledgeable, professional, and kind throughout the adoption process of our dog. He is a perfect match for our family!
They are awesome!!! They are amazing with all of the animals. It’s kept so clean. It reminds me of a holiday inn. I adopted the most amazing black lab with a black tongue.
I adopted her March 3rd 2022, the staff was really polite and nice to me and my mom. They answered every questions that we had and also they are really clean and the pets are up to date. I also came here today for a booster shot for my little kitty , had a good experience. Definitely recommend coming here and adopting a pet❤️
We had the best experience with Westchester SPCA. Both my parents and our family adopted a puppy. The facility is so clean. The staff is so friendly and helpful. They follow up even a month after adoption. You can tell they love the animals.
I have adopted 2 kittens from them they are the loves of my life I love them so much the staff is absolutely amazing so friendly and helpful place is clean I wouldn’t go anywhere else I highly highly recommend them they are the very very best only come here for your new furry friend I highly highly recommend this place I would give them a 1000 if I could
Got the love of my life from here!!We adopted our puppy from this spca. We found them to be very caring for all of the animals on site. They take the application process seriously as well which I think is a very good thing. The staff were friendly. We couldnt be happier with our dog, Bowie, who we brought home that day! He needed a loving home and we truly gave him that! Thank you for helping animals in need SPCA! He is the most incredible dog. We couldn’t be happier.
About a year ago on March 04, 2023, I woke up and I decided to adopt a puppy. I was going through a terrible time in life, horrible breakup and anxiety getting worse by the day. Ive been wanting to adopt a puppy for quite some time but didnt know where to go. So, I googled this place and saw two puppies that I fell absolutely in love with.I sent them an email at 8am, and waited until like 9:30Am, but no one responded. They dont reserve and I didnt want someone else to get the puppy I saw online. I wasnt sure if it was legit, but I dragged a friend with me. We get there, its legit. We waited outside for some odd reason, and signed a paper so that they knew we were there. We waited about an hour I think before we were called.Ironically the puppy I was eyeing was at the front with his foster mom. I thought the whole time, he was already adopted. They took me to the back to see other dogs, but I spoke up and told them I already knew who I wanted. I met him, he ran up to me. I LOVED him. His foster mom had a bag ready to give and toys. The office was great and kind and gave him his first shots. The only reason I removed a star is because he was neutered. I know most people want their pet to be fixed, but I didnt want him to be fixed.Other than that, the experience was great!
Went to the place to donate a 100 dollar kennel gate. Amazon made a mistake and said to keep it and the first thing we thought of was to give it to the shelter. When we called they said yes please bring it. When we went in person someone at the door was curt and made me feel like I was annoying her. We didn’t even get a thank you. The place looked very clean but maybe they need to screen there volunteers like they screen the people looking to adopt. I should have brought it to the Yonkers shelter or sold it.
Very good, you need to wait to they’re call you back then you can make an appointment. In my case I when for the sterilization of my cat. They’re very organized, they did a great job! They explain everything.
The place is a bit run down but that does not take away from the good work they are doing. We love our pup and was very happy with the seamless procedure to adopt her. She was up on her shots and meds and was already chipped we also received all her documents up to date and a bag of goodies for her with a huge bag of kibble. $350 well spent!!!! We would definitely adopt here again and recommend anyone to do the same. Every animal needs a loving home and family!!!
Excellent shelter and experience in adopting our dog in January. We have an older dog (also adopted from the SPCA Westchester in 2011) and the staff was careful to make sure that the two dogs were compatible. We were able to leave with out new puppy the same day. The facility is beautiful and clean and it is clear that the staff cares deeply about the animals. Highly recommended!
People & pet friendly 💯 I was there too have our puppy vaccinated and they were fast and friendly many others were with smiles on their faces and praise for the service they received throughout the years
We were very impressed with the people/volunteers/staff and are so glad for the major facelift now complete because the old facility was very run down and now its a much better place for the Dogs and Cats to stay. We got our 3.5 year old Aussie Shepard mix there just as the pandemic begun and we couldnt be happier with him!!!
The SPCA Westchester and Vetinary Clinic was an absolute pleasure. My dog without a doubt was in trusthworthy/excellent hands and care. I brought my 2 year old frenchie, went in and came out successful with her surgery and provided the necessary medication/after care step by step post surgery. The whole staff/team and doctors at the clinic showed love for each and every furry friend that walks through those doors. There’s a sense of community, and feels more than just a vet/clinic. You feel the love for each and every animal. Super grateful🐶❤️
Lisa Ricker prevented me from adopting 1 Or 2 dogs because I would not use her as a dog trainer. I have my own Mike dabruzza she made the whole experience horrible
Wonderful group of staff and volunteers who work here. They were very patient and helpful in our mission to find a snugly adult companion kitty for my parents. The cat had some dental work it needed and they allowed us to bring him back and they did all the work for free. They have deep compassion and concern for these animals and it really shows. Thanks for everything!
The facility is beautiful and the staff were all friendly and caring. They made sure our new pup was the right fit for our family.
We are looking to adopt a dog and tried this location. The facility looks brand new and is super clean and neat. The cat rooms are set up beautifully and the dogs have spaces inside the building with climate control (as opposed to being outside in the heat or cold). The staff was helpful and spoke to us at length about adopting and acclimating a new pet in our household. The building and parking lot are wheelchair accessible and there is plenty of parking. Im pretty sure I even saw a small shop near the restroom, maybe with quick supplies for taking a new pet home? It was a really nice place. Definitely recommend.
Great place to get pets and they have good Drs too. Help them monetarily and by adopting dogs from them and not from breeders. We got our darling doggie from them.
They’re a hard place to get a hold of. Especially the clinic line but once you do the staff are very friendly and helpful. My pup went in for surgery and has healed well.Thank you SPCA WESTCHESTER!
Ive adopted dogs from SPCA Westchester over the past 19 years. Its well run, clean, and the dogs and cats are well cared for. We recently adopted a new puppy and Jason was very helpful and knowledgeable.
I received my greatest gift! My love Guinness! I didn’t like that we couldn’t book an appointment to see him first - it was first come, first serve and we almost didn’t get him! That was nerve racking! But he had all his shots and was neutered (even though we were told he was way too young to receive all that at the same time) he was 3 months receiving all that. He’s a great dog though and the staff was great and helpful!
Amazingly well kept facility with loving staff. Was helped by Tamir (hope Im spelling this right) and eventually found our plott hound/Pitt puppy June (originally Gee). We absolitely adore her -- would highly recommend to anyone interested in adopting a rescue animal!
Adopted a bonded pair about a month ago. Had a great experience with the staff. We are in love with our little kittens.
Everyone was very nice, helpful and very patient with us. We found our perfect pup.
Our Daisy Girl Scout troop did a tour here led by Ms. Amy and the girls had a blast learning how to see signs of animal emotions and learn more about how to be responsible pet owners!
Beautiful shelter and wonderful staff provides the best environment for all of these animals looking for homes
Recently adopted precious Poppy. Beautiful facility, attentive staff and uncomplicated process. Having Codys Clinic has also been a huge plus for providing wellness care. She is our 3rd shelter dog and facility was superior.
Had the best experience adopting my new pup! The staff were so friendly and patient and providing such a welcoming environment. They also offered me a bed and some toys she was liking that day just for familiarity. Could not have asked for a better place to adopt from.
Staff is mostly clueless(Wrong names, addresses inserted into adoption field, etc). Security there is a joke. Arrived unannounced extending a hand to shake, meanwhile no identification presented. Go to adopt, but dont expect useful help
Wonderful facility with awesome people! I’ll recommend specifically a service that one might not expect them to offer - kids’ birthday parties! Lisa and her colleagues made our daughter’s party so special and fun. Parents of animal lovers: do it!
So glad we got our pup here! Clean, accomodating & friendly. So grateful!
Everyone was lovely in the beginning.Wished to adopt puppy. Was said we could bring back.Brought puppy back.Never gave money back.24 hour period.kept dog. and our 400.00.Would have kept the dog.But they told us they want both dogs to be happy. Our older dog wasnt having it.Tilly the little pup we took home was amazing.Brought her back in tears.Worst experience !No explanation for not giving refund. If we knew that we would have made it our business to find a perfect home. But why should they let that happen. They just sold the dog twice.Despicable!!!was a 24
What a wonderful place to find your best friend and companion! We got King/Chickpea about a month ago from the SPCA in Briarcliff Manor and we fell in love with this beautiful puppy! We went about 4 times looking for a perfect match. 🐶🙏 The staff performs a comprehensive evaluation of the people/ family looking to adopt to try to find a perfect match for them. The volunteers were very patient and knowledgeable about most of the animals brought in to the facility. Chickpea was already neutered and his vaccines were mostly up to date! They really took great care of their animals, treating them accordingly and keeping them healthy. I wish we can bring all the animals home and wish they all get adopted! We brought Chickpea home the same day and he is just thriving in his new, forever home ❤️. Here is a photo of him! Good luck to others who are looking their best friend! PS: The SPCA was also kind enough to give us information of the previous shelter Chickpea was at. We got in touch with them and was able to find out his history and where he came from!
We had such a great experience celebrating our daughter’s birthday at SPCA Westchester!!! It was really well organized and full of fun activities, plus getting to see and support the shelter animals - what could be better?!
They were very helpful and accommodating. We got a super sweet pup from them named Cannoli.
The people have a real condescending attitude and not very helpful. Make it difficult to meet the animals and put you through a 3rd degree to meet and adopt an animal. A bit bizarre given they are trying to find a home for the rescue ( I hope they are...)
I brought my 4 year old Labrador retriever to be neutered at the new SPCA facility at Cody’s Clinic. The place is amazing! The staff is friendly and professional, and the entire experience went off seamlessly. My dog did very well, and recovered beautifully. They also micro-chipped him, and gave him his rabies shot while he was there. I couldn’t have been more pleased with the whole experience. I will continue to use this facility for well visits and vaccines for my dogs. I highly recommend this SPCA.
I feel they pulled a real bait and switch. They wrote a glowing Petfinder description of a dog but when I arrived they immediately wanted to tell me all his behavioral issues (mainly over-excitability). It was like they were trying to talk me out of adopting him.Nonetheless, I was still interested and spent time in the play area with him. Then, after I brought my dog in to meet him, the behaviorist decided she wouldnt allow me to adopt him bc she thought my dog wasnt interested in him... bc my dog wouldnt immediately play with him. (Ever met one of those experts who is so threatened by the possibility of being proven wrong that they just shut everything down and refuse to hear anything but their own voice? Yeah, thats who I had to deal with.)Anywhere my dog goes - dog parks, other parks, new yards, etc. - he always spends the first 10-15 minutes investigating and sniffing around. He completely zones out and ignores everyone and everything while he does this. Thats what he does, even still does it every time at the dog park he goes to regularly. When hes finally done sniffing around, he plays. And he plays with any and every dog he meets. But this expert denies an adoptable dog finally getting a shot at a forever home bc my dog doesnt just walk right into an unfamiliar place, full of scents of hundreds of other dogs, and (while he is still on a leash and feeling insecure) just jump right into playing with a dog already in the play area and experienced and comfortable with it. Brilliant. The really sad part is this adoptable dog is young and has some behavioral issues very similar to the ones my dog had when I first adopted him. The adoption workers back then were skeptical as to why I would want this difficult dog. But I adopted him, have trained him well, and (without knowing his backstory) all the workers at SPCA Briarcliff were commenting on what a good boy he is. So, considering the behavioral issues of this dog they have put up for adoption, our home would have been a great fit for him. And my dog would have loved to have a new friend. Instead, that poor other dog is still stuck in a cell every day, probably with staff still consciously or subconsciously selling visitors off of being interested in him. Its just really sad.As far as finding a friend for my dog and a new family member, how am I supposed to do that at SPCA Briarcliff? If the criteria is my dog 1) has to come into the play area when another dog is already in there and has been for a while, 2) has to come in around a dog he has never met before and be kept on his leash, 3) is given no time to get acquainted with the space or even explore it alone first, or 4) must show immediate interest in another dog despite this setup, then how could their ‘expert’ ever bestow upon us her great power of adoption?I have taken my dogs, and my friends dog, to dog parks literally hundreds of times over the last 20 years (maybe even thousands) and witnessed countless meetings of dogs there and other places. Ive seen when it works out and Ive seen the ways sometimes it doesnt. I may not have credentials but I have pretty vast experience observing dog culture and its idiosyncrasies. Had my dog simply been allowed to explore this new space and get comfortable, and been allowed in the space with the other dog without the restriction of being leashed making him feel vulnerable, these dogs would have hit it off and the dog would have a new home and family.I also want to repeat that their posting for the dog was extremely misleading: Friendly, Playful, Funny, Playfully entertaining and wants to be everyones best friend. Is good with other dogs. House trained. - These are not the ways the 3 employees I met described him when I got there. Why not write an ad describing him the way you described him when I got there? That way, maybe you can appeal to someone who is ready and willing to take on the responsibility of caring for and training such a dog?Like I was.
Thank you Codys Clinic, excellent staff!! My Michi had her spay surgery here and everything went smoothly. Awesome, professional staff.
They really mean no kill. A rescued cat from over 10 years ago was still with them and was very well cared for. The beautiful new facility has plenty of space to care for the animals and the clinic is wonderful.
Great selection of dogs fantastic staff. Highly recommended. Picked up Apple for the family.
I got the dog of my dreams. T²Stella aka Loretta
I absolutely loved everything about this place and my experience here. I came to adopt a cat which I did and everything about it couldnt have been much better in my opinion. This is a very clean, modern and well run shelter. The adoption process is very straightforward and they are very quick to respond to emails. I was very pleased by the relaxed environment and how professional everyone was. I am a big proponent of adoption as opposed to shopping for an animal and adopting from this shelter makes me more confident that it is the right thing to do. I would recommend this shelter to anyone who is looking to adopt.
We had a great experience. We went in with a specific dog in mind and after meeting with us, the staff helped us determine that dog wouldn’t be a good fit for our family. They let us walk around and meet others that were better fits. We came home with the sweetest girl. So easy and they followed up and gave suggestions to deal with puppy antics. Definitely recommend adopting from the SPCA!
I had a friendly and stress free experience. We also picked up a new family member
This shelter is AWESOME. I came in today for an adoption event, the volunteer, Doris, was AMAZING. She answered my (many) questions and was super nice about everything. Her positive demeanor made waiting two hours more enjoyable. The adoption counselors were super helpful and knowledgeable, and made the decision a lot easier. They gave us a few toys and a toy bin, which was unexpected, but so thoughtful. The papers they give you are helpful and informative. Everyone’s excitement was amazing!! 10/10 would recommend. If I ever adopt another dog, I will 100% be going back.
These people should not be allowed to have animals. They are literally a hinderance to any animal being adopted, mainly talking about Lisa (unsure of her last name.)I called interested in a dog here as we seemed like a great fit. When I called and asked about him, they told me I could foster or adopt him today, to just come on down and meet him. So I drove the hour from my house. When I got there, not only did Lisa act extremely condescending about dog ownership (I have had dogs in the past) and not even look me in the eye, she badmouthed the dog consistently, almost as if trying to convince me not to adopt him. When she relented and let me meet the dog, he couldn’t have been sweeter. I told her I’d love to foster him, only for her to turn combative and start listing reasons why I couldn’t do so (including telling me “well he has good days and bad days”), telling me to come back a few days from now and then we’d see.Lisa also told me they’ve had this dog for a year; wonder why you can’t get him a home? Wonder if you even want him to have a home at all? Seems like she just wants the dog to suffer in his gross little kennel forever.Adoption agencies like this are disgusting and should not be allowed to exist.
Last week we met our newest family member at the SPCA of Westchester and it was a wonderful experience. We are first time adopters, so we werent sure what to expect but the volunteers and staff here were wonderful!I recommend filling out your application in advance, as they had to call our references and approve our application before we could interact with a dog. After it was approved which only took a few minutes, the staff was wonderful in listening to what kind of dog would be a good fit for our lifestyle and directed us towards one of the dogs we had identified as a potentially good match. Our dog, Jersey, was a trainer adoption as the staff had been working with him on some fearfulness, and the trainer, Jeanne, was incredibly helpful. She spent a lot of time talking to us about the best way to work with him and help him adjust to life at home with us.After we took him home Jeanne has been so responsive and helpful via email to all of our questions and we couldnt be happier with how wonderful the staff here was!
This is probably the best shelter I have ever been to. The animals are well taken care of, the staff is happy and quick to offer assistance. They do not pounce on visitors to make an adoption like some other places. It was a very relaxed and open atmosphere. And aside from a very few tough love cases all of their residents were all licks and wags. The accommodations are spacious. The small animal house is great. When we are ready to adopt this will be the very first place we go to.
My family had a wonderful experience at the SPCA. The facility was very clean and the animals are all well taken care of. The staff was very friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. They helped us pick out a perfect cat to bring home with us that day! We are the proud new pet parents of Lucky Lindy and are very happy we came to the SPCA.
We got our second dog here about a month ago. It was a great experience. The staff seemed really dedicated to helping the animals, and really knowledgeable about the animals individual personalities- which was important to us so we could find a dog that would get along with our first dog. They even let us take our dogs favorite toy she had with her at the shelter. Really nice people working for the really amazing cause of finding animals their forever homes.
Very great staff, love our new kitty
There are a lot of good reviews about this place but unfortunately I can’t say the same. I adopted a cat a little over two weeks ago from this place. Out of nowhere he got very sick so I decided to take him back to SPCA to see if there was anything they can to cure him as I had JUST gotten him no more than 2 weeks ago. When I got there on Sunday, there were no vet techs but only employees. These employees took a look at my cat and blatantly told me “he won’t make it past the night”. There was no remorse or any compassionate support or response. I went there to find help not to be told he won’t make it by employees who aren’t even vets. I thought they would assist me with my cat as there is a 2 week grace period for medical help and at this point it was just a few days over his 2 week grace period. The only option they gave me at the end was to surrender him back to the shelter to provide him with medical attention. I don’t think it’s professional for this facility to tell an owner “he won’t make past the night” and be rude to the owner whose completely worried about their cat.
Although the facility seems nice and clean, twice we have stopped there in hope of adopting a pet, and was ignored, given the wrong information, the wrong application form, were told that some of the cats we were looking for wouldnt be a good fit for us, and all kind of unexplainable nonsense and bias that will only make sense when applied to the color of my skin. Im sorry, but when we left that was the only thing that stay with us
I have been volunteering here on a weekly basis for 2+ years. I could not help but fall in love with the hard-working and nurturing environment. This place is a phenomenal experience in itself where volunteers are welcome to learn, teach, and lead. Not only do you get to spend some time with the animals that are working hard with the staff to be re-homed, but I also have the chance to interact with fellow volunteers and shelter supporters. I feel proud to volunteer here and I would highly recommend everyone to pass by and say hello, even if they arent ready for a new hairy family member. Come and see what this place does for our community!
I adopted my angel rescue from here a few years ago and I do NOT regret a single thing ! The staff extremely polite (as always) and dogs are constantly getting adopted and new ones are coming in! They are always on top of their website which is amazing! I love their honesty about breeds ( Im a pitbull lover) and they are SO helpful even after you adopt,! If I could give this place 100 stars I would!
The staff are very helpful in every way. From helping us find the most perfect new family member to answering any questions after the adoption. Thank you!
Clean facility, caring and involved and invested staff and well cared for cats and dogs
I had a great experience with them. My 7 month old Morkie was recently spayed at the clinic. They were very friendly and accommodating. I was nervous a few days later and they called me right back when I left a message. I emailed pictures of the incision and they responded almost immediately, answering all questions and concerns I had. Highly recommend!
I didnt want a puppy, but I feel in love with one and were very happy together. Some of the people at the SPCA are wonderful. The place has been renovated and is nice (especially for the cats)
Took my one year old cat here to be neutered and get all of his shots. They took great care of Artemis and he came home in excellent condition. They were very thorough and explained his post op needs. The fees were the best in Westchester County. I just wish they had more vet offices throughout Westchester.
We adopted a puppy and the SPCA was fabulous. We met the trainer, Lisa, who offered a wealth of advice ranging from selecting the perfect puppy for your family to basic care needs (training, feeding, healthcare, etc.). She truly wants you to find the perfect puppy for you so my advice would be listen to what she is saying. We are so happy with our newest famiy member and cannot imagine life without her. I highly recommend the SPCA.
The staff was lovely and professional and the facility is clean, modern, and the animals appear healthy, safe, and well taken care of. I appreciate the care put into this facility and all the staff and volunteers taking part in this important service.
I had gone in to donate some items and was taken aback by the disinterest and sense that I was a bother to one of the volunteers I spoke to. Left with a feeling that she could give a hoot and I thought, I made a donation for the cats and stuff to help support the work of the facility but this may be the last visit there. Many other shelters in need of support. I’m sure they do great work and I applaud their efforts; however, some of the staff may need to stick working with the animals and leave the people interactions to those who may have a better grip on dealing with people.
The best animal shelter I have ever encountered. The dogs and cats are extremely loved and well-cared for by the staff and volunteers. The dogs are socialized and trained, and the staff does a great job of matching adopters with the best pet for them. The perfect place to find your new best friend!
I had a wonderful experience at SPCA in Briarcliff. The staff are organized, professional and friendly. Rich really took the time to help me find the perfect cat for my family.
I had been looking to adopt a cat for a while, but it seems like every rescue I contacted around NYC either ignored me or found a reason in which the animal wouldnt be a good fit for my home. So I decided in a last attempt to adopt to go up to Westchester, and the decision was super worth it. As soon as we got out of the car a greeter came up to us and asked if we needed assistance, we let her know we were interested in adopting a cat. She led us to the cat house, then had us fill out an adoption form. From that point we were allowed to meet any of the cats as long as we sanitized our hands first. We absolutely fell in love with a Himalayan named Monique. To adopt her we let one of the volunteers know we were interested in her, and then we went to the front office to have our application approved. They called my reference not even 5 minutes after I handed the front desk my application and I was approved after giving a copy of my lease. After that I just had to walk back to the cat house and give my approved application. They then handed me everything I needed for the journey back to the city: a soft cat carrier and a ton of cat food. I left very happy and felt well informed leaving the SPCA.
I went in with my family of 5 recently and our experience wasn’t a good one from the start. We had to go around asking if someone could help us and nobody offered help. They were good at telling us to keep away from certain areas of the shelter tho. When we were finally able to talk to the trainer we had already found a puppy that stole our heart. The trainer was one of the only two people there that was extremely polite along with the young lady that feeds the animals and cleans in the small animal building. She was explaining the training process when this other women came and in a rude way said that the puppy couldn’t come home with us because we were too many and he was a frightened puppy and just picked him up and walked away with him. She could’ve been more professional and talked to us instead of acting like we were not there. The trainer had told us before that incident that it would take the puppy two weeks to adjust to its new environment and didn’t seem like it was going to be a problem. The majority of the staff and volunteers are RUDE and seem not to care about helping you out. We are never returning again.
I adopted two dogs from the SPCA and the staff was extremely helpful. The trainers gave me great advice when I brought my second dog home and continue to be supportive and informative when issues come up. An awesome group of people at an amazing shelter.
This place is seriously amazing! Cathi was nothing but helpful and Rosie was great! She matched us up with a kitty and we fell in love right away, she knew what she was talking about and how to match families with the perfect feline. We love our kitty!!
Review is for Veterinary clinic only:I heard many good things of this place as they rescue animals and such. However I am not very fond of the veterinary clinic. In my experience I took my 3 cats here previously for their physicals and dentals. I thought woah, for the prices and the reviews they are great and I even made the wait for their veterinary appointments, the wait times for an appointment or dental can be over a month.I found out with the physicals that they have such things as 3 year vaccines. At the time when I found out of these I thought, this was great, no more having to bring them in yearly for vaccines. One of my cats developed a bump on his back leg from where they put in one of these 3 year vaccines. Months later this bump wouldnt go away and my cat soon developed kidney cancer and lastly passed away less than a year. I explained this to my new vet now, and he tells me that he doesnt like the 3 year vaccines because there is a higher chance that this bump happens with some of the cats.. Although rare, (No one told me of this) and if I wouldve known better, I wouldnt have accepted these 3 year vaccines. Also my cats are all indoors so not sure why the vets never mentioned these may not be necessary: distemper, rabies..( I looked around online and there seems to be some relation with cancer and these bumps that happen due to the vaccine and the body not accepting it).The 2nd issue I had, I thought also the dental prices were great. I took 2 of my cats to their appointments and came back with more than 1/3 of each of their teeth extracted (10-15 teeth each removed). Later, I find out that they dont do x-rays, etc. I am now taking my cats to a new vet that I highly recommend, and in their latest dentals, only cleanings due to tartar, no extractions. Even my 3rd cat that was a stray and never had a cleaning in his life, had no extractions in the new vet.. I made no difference in their diets.. so not sure how in Spca so many extractions were made and in this new place, none. In my opinion, I think you should take your cats to get dentals elsewhere. The prices also in the end were not much of a difference between new vet and spca clinic prices.
It’s sad after bringing in numerous blankets and sheets for the cats and dogs that my children who wanted to see the dogs they were helping were unable to do so. I was told my kids would have to wait for someone that worked at the facility to walk with us then once someone came over they changed their story and said no walking around on the weekends. Not to mention two weeks ago my son and I were told we could walk around and hand out treats to the dogs. Thanks for ruining this experience for my children.
I had taken my 3 lb Yorkie here to get her teeth cleaned, and They broke her jaw. I had to take her to a real vet where she had to get a metal plate in her jaw and implants because the SPCA ripped 9 teeth out, leaving pieces of the teeth and roots in her mouth. I would definitely not advise anyone to take their precious pets to this SPCA.
Clean, no smells. Handlers, volunteers Trainers, and Adoption Mgr were no where to be found. I just wandered on my own. In the small animal building they house cats and dogs. There I found a helper, who was nice and calm and answered several questions. They dont know who is working for sure or out.Ive been at the same dogs Ive been looking at, but get, oh, not adoptable, not suitable, etc. although they have my application as approved.I have been to other shelters that have gone out of their way to try to match you with the right dog, treat you kindly, have enough staff on hand and would gladly be the place to foster, adopt, and donate. 4 Stars for the pens cleaned and the indoor housings. Maybe caught them on a bad day.
I adopted my last cat from here and had a wonderful experience. My cat had digestive issues, and the staff in the clinic kept working with him until we found the cause. The office staff is extremely friendly and helpful!
I know everyones experience is unique, but my experience with the SPCA of Westchesters shelter has been wonderful. They obviously care deeply about the animals. They checked me out thoroughly before allowing me to adopt my wonderful dog, Phoebe, last week. The adoption included a free check-up with a local vet, who discovered what is hopefully a minor issue. The SPCA will take care of pre-existing conditions in their own clinic at no charge for 30 days post-adoption. When I called about the issue, the SPCA responded immediately. Their vet called me directly, and Im taking Phoebe in tomorrow. They have been terrific. Highly recommended.
They took good care of my baby Mochi , he’s healed up perfect :)
We have had the pleasure of adopting three dogs from here over the past 25 years and they are the best dogs. The staff here not only cares about these pets but also they make sure that you are a good fit.
A clean, well run, affluent suburban no kill shelter.Animals are healthly, well evaluated, and well socialized. Most come from the South. More animals should come from local and New York City kill shelters.Puppies, kittens, and pure breeds are often available, but good luck getting one.Vaccinations and check-ups are reasonable, but adoptions are quite expensive, even for older dogs.I paid $375 for a two year old mixed breed dog. I could have got a similar two year old canine for much less at a municipal kill center, but my daughter fell in love with the dog.A little thing that left me a little peeved was that after paying $375 for a two year old mutt, they wouldnt even give me a sample of dog food that he was used to. This said, the dog is healthly and is proving to be wonderful family member.
Great staff helped us find our perfect pup!
My daughter and I went to the Briarcliff SPCA to adopt a grown cat.I found the place so clean, the people who worked there was playing with the pets, and the animals had lots of room and were very clean.I was also the one who rescued the dog that was the worst treated dog Valhalla had seen in their 30 years of business. She had 50 POUNDS of matted hair on her, her nails whet around and back in the bottom of her paws, she had heart worm, and sores all over her, when they put her out and shaved her. Katrina, the Valhalla groomer and the head of the Briarcliff SPCA called me, and she turned out to be a pure breed Schnauzer. I took her home and she was the best dog you could imagine. I hope someone out there turns in another miniature Schnauzer, or a miniature wired hair fox terrier. If you are looking for a great pet, you can count of them to have a loving dog or cat to bring home!
I adopted a puppy in May from the SPCA of Westchester and had a great experience. She had been transported from a high-kill shelter. I love that they have a clinic where my pup got her shots! Everyone was so helpful!
Great experience-they were very organized. A lady with a clipboard met me at my car. I was in the cat building and it was spotless. They were very diligent about making sure I used disinfectant on my hands in between touching each cat. I was very impressed and would definitely return.
The SPCAs Simpson Clinic is a fabulous place to bring your pet for well-care. They are professional, caring and dedicated to helping pets stay healthy. I just brought my two new kittens there for a checkup and initial vaccinations.
An absolutely beautiful shelter with wonderful staff
Wonderful staff who are really concerned about the well-being of their animals. The volunteers and staff work tirelessly to make sure their animals have clean housing, food, exercise and playtime. This what a shelter should be. We just adopted cats from them and I look forward to future adoptions and hopefully volunteering with them, as well.
Such a great organization. Wonderful staff and a dedicated group of volunteers that work tirelessly to better the lives of all the animals there. They do everything in their power to find the animals their forever homes. If you are going to adopt (which you should!), definitely look into adopting from the SPCA of Westchester!
Wonderful place, wonderful people. All the dogs and cats are well taken care of and are given love and hugs. I commend the people who work there and also the volunteers. I wish there were homes for all these animals, but this is a good interim phase of their lives.
Amazing facility amazing staff! Please consider adopting from this location
Great staff..... very patient and kind. They had this great starter kit for my kitten so that I didnt have to go out and get what I needed. It was all there. I got it all set up before I took him out of his carrier. Fantastic and such a time saver.Louie (my kitten) and I couldnt be happier.
I never write reviews, nowadays we are all constantly bombarded with them....but I had such an amazing experience here, I feel compelled to let others know. I was just looking online for a rescue dog and happened to come across the Westchester spca. They had such a huge and varied assortment of animals. I went there with a dog already picked out, but after visiting with the dog, and speaking with one of the trainers, Lisa. I determined that particular dog would not be a good fit for me. Lisa then patiently showed me other animals that may fit my likes \needs. I Went home to think about it, stopped by again a few days later with a new dog in mind. Met with Annmarie who showed me the dog i now have. Annemarie was so kind and patient with me as I made this big decision. In this circumstance, I was able to foster this dog for week before adopting him. On the day we scheduled, Annmarie drive 45mins to my house to bring him to me, and she helped introduce the dog, Sammy, to the neighboorhood, my backyard, and the house. It was an adjustment period for myself, and Sammy, but Annmarie checked up often thru email and txt....she even drove back out to me the next week to help me better work with Sammy. Everyone I interacted with at the shelter really cared about the animals they were taking care of,and the people and families adopting them. I have to mention Roxia who taught Sammy all the commands and manners that he has, and Jeanne who spear headed and helped organize everything, offered multiple tips, and overall was hugely helpful throughout the whole time. I would recommend everyone to this shelter, and would absolutely come back in the future.
Great staff, loving caring, facility is clean and well maintained. Very nice viewing facilities
A wonderful animal shelter! I have been volunteering their for years & the SPCA of Westchester is truly dedicated to taking great care of all the animals until they find their forever homes! Well kept, spacious shelter with knowledgeable staff who will help you find the right pet for your home!
John and I went to the SPCA in Westchester today. We found it clean, there were a lot of lovely people working there, the animals always take center stage and today, there was an event. Many animals were adopted, goes to show the SPCA has a good reputation!
The SPCA of Westchester is a poorly run facility. A long time friend of mine was looking for an older Golden retriever for her family as they has lost their golden to cancer a few months ago. This is a very experienced Golden home. I adopted a Golden to them years ago, who passed away from cancer as well. This family not ony has the experience, but the financial means to have any dog & care for them, and they saw 2 Goldens on the website of this facility. My friends husband was down there at 10 am dropping off an app and looking at the dogs, my friend ran down there with 1 of her children & their little dog, the shelter said they would let the female go to a home with another dog, they spent hours down there with this dog, and the shelter told my friend to bring her other 2 children back the next day, my friend knowing her kids would get along with the dog set up a vet appointment with her vet, the SPCA called her vet for a reference and got a glowing reference, they never called me and I know I was on the reference list, and then while my friend was in her car, on her way home, this shelter told her they adopted the dog and the other golden to someone else, and stated they do it on a first come first serve basis. No way does this facility have the best interest of the animal in sight. What I see is a facility that says get the animals out as quickly as possible, to the first person who opens up their wallet! How sad! How wrong! Oh and they deleted my review from their Facebook page, and hid the whole review feature. That alone shows an admittance of guilt!
We got a beautiful DSH kitten. She is adorable and staff there was so nice.
More costly than other Spcas for spaying etc.. But clean, modern, friendly and helpful staff. Our pooch recover fast and well.Parking lot. Calls almost never answered live but returned later. Times we live in I guess.
Have not gotten their yet. But my neighbors suggest I go for a cat or dog.Cant decide which I want. I have one cat. I could just see her with a dog. Introduce slowly.
We’ve adopted 3 of our fur babies! This organization and their humane law unit changed my life for the better.
I volunteer in the clinic 2 days a week, my 2 favorite days! Caring dedicated staff truly make a difference, especially for the injured and sick animals who need it most! This sweet thing will be gone by the time you see this but plenty left who need Forever Homes💗🐱
Amazing cat adoption experience. Extremely friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful staff. They gave me so much stuff to take home with me including a cat carrier! A+
Wonderful place to adopt a cat or dog. Lovely, knowledgeable staff, and all animals well taken care of.
I went there to volunteer for some community service it seemed like a nice place and everyone was kind except nobody under 18 is allowed to make physical contact with an animal. If you are coming because you love dogs and want to be around animals you should be allowed touch them, no waivers or anything was given out, you are simply not allowed to touch the dogs. Ridiculous.
Took a 9 week old kitty for me I found by shoprite! Great bunch off people! Its now a felony to hurt an animal... This legislation was needed! ❤❤❤If you can donate cash,an old car, dog & cat food, used blankets or even your time this holiday season please remember our trusting & loving displaced furry friends! 🐕,🐱❤☀😢
Tout themselves as a no-kill shelter. WHAT A LIE! I brought in a lost cat the other day, called them up less than a week later to check up on it to see if they had found the owner and they had already euthanized it, because it had too many seizures - are you kidding me??! This couldve been somebodys cat and you take it upon yourself to do that??? I had originally told my husband we would wait maybe 3 weeks and take the cat in if the owners were never found. They obviously couldnt wait as they killed her within days. Deceiving crooks, thats what they are!! I wish I wouldve looked at the reviews before bringing the poor cat there, wouldve kept it instead!!!
Weird place. Hard to get anyones help and when you do, they are unpleasant, dismissive and even hostile to potential adoptees. Obviously, they need you to know that they are the ones calling the shots and you are entirely unimportant!Went with a friend/girlfriend who was trying to adopt one or two kittens for her son. She brought, as we had been instructed to on the previous unsuccessful visit, all the paperwork proving she had her buildings permission to adopt, but they treated us like we intended to take the poor things home and BBQ them for dinner (maybe too much watching Walking Dead lol?)Then, they asked her, in front of me, if I was her son wanting the kitten. I am a 33 year old man, 62 and 220 lbs . Truly bizarre experience. Ultimately, my friend was told the written documents were not good enough proof and she gave up on trying to adopt from this shelter.
This place remind me why people are forced to buy animals, especially when you are willing and want to adopt. They won’t even let you see the cats or dogs and your forced to fill out an application the moment you walk in. This place wasn’t at all welcoming and were condescending from the moment I walked in. I do not recommend this place
Left bewildered after being told by the manager that their policies deemed my Nanas home environment and track record unfit for adoption of a kitten. They based this decision on extremely limited information, mis-information, assumptions, and accusations, including a clear demonstration of age and disability discrimination of one of the staff members. While the managers demeanor appeared polite and professional on the outside, it was clear she was actually not considering the weight of evidence which any logical person would see as demonstration of my Nana being an ideal adoption parent. Its a shame she was as close-minded as she was. She has missed the opportunity to provide a tremendous home to a kitten and provide a person the tremendous benefit a pet can provide when one lives alone.
Great organization. Great people. Beautiful animals.
My children were very happy with the experience of interacting with the cats and dogs. The staff was very friendly and professional and also the facility was very clean.
What an easy and quick process! The employees are knowledgeable and kind and full of useful information
Worst place ever money hungry, conflicting information, sort of like a car dealer do not trust them, dont believe anything they say. Watch out when they start offering services,They will have you come in them hold your pet hostage trying to sell you additional services over the phone. Waste of time. Hope this helps I spend enough time and money on this dishonest place.
4 months ago , we were trying to adopt a puppy , we were pre approved , everything was fine until the day of the adoption event , that day we were waiting for our turn to see the dogs (3-4 hours ) we were interested in a Chocolate lab puppy , when it was our turn the director ( a tall woman , straight hair) to us to make some questions , we were the only ones stopped by her to be questioned , she made remarks based on our skin color , making assumptions that I she didn’t let us to answer , to explain or clarify , the other ladies also joined to her because she told them whatever she was assuming , We were discriminated , she wasn’t happy to see a non white family in front of her , she let the people behind us To go first because they were white and a little blonde hair girl was crying , we saw then taking all the baby labs , when she was sure no labs were left she told us that we can go to the tent where the puppies where in crates . I was so uncomfortable about her behavior but my children (teen children ) wanted to get a puppy and I didn’t want to make feel sad . We were #10 in the line and we were one of the last families to see the puppies ( More than 50 families ) so , none of the puppies left were large breed and we went home without nothing , they told us to check in few days , we did it and we saw a golden mix puppy , we called , they told us to go , we went there and one of my children couldn’t go because he was working , they told us that all the family must be there in order to get the puppy , they told us to “come back tomorrow at noon” , we went and they told us that the dog wasn’t there , once again they told us to “come back tomorrow , we went again to the shelter to learn that the dog was adopted the day before !!!!! This is racist !!! I’m against buying dogs but it’s fristrading , humiliating to try to adopt from this shelter !!! We don’t live in New York , we traveled 2 hours to see the dogs and try to help and we were discriminated , I don’t understand why a racist woman is “the big boss” There . Finally , my husband bought two golden puppies because he told me next time he won’t stay silent!!!! Keep promoting buying dogs , that’s what you are doing !!!! Racists !!!
Beautiful, state of the art facility. Mainly cat & dogs.Staff is helpful. Donation is expensive for average family. Easy/handicap access. Level parking.
Wonderful place to seek a forever home for these dogs and cats. These animals are treated very well and are looking to get adopted, especially the ones who may be a year or more mature who deserve a home life.
I cant believe that someone has mounted a smear campaign against this outstanding no-kill shelter! The staff members and volunteers are wonderful, hard-working people who are doing a terrific job--I know them well and I know how rare it is that they reluctantly decide that an animal must be put down.
Everyone at SPCA were super awesome to us! I appreciate each one for the great work they do. My hubby and I are proud pet parents to baby Bella! She certainly brought joy and happiness in our home and hearts. Bella loves to explore and run all around the house. She particularly loves the shower. Lol! We are so grateful.
I fell in love with a dog that they did nerological tests and mri scans FOR NO REASON! tbey seem too attached to the amimals and want people to pay extra services in order to adopt. Why on earth would i hire a trainer? If i want to do it myself? Theyre very judgemental and rude
We fostered a pup for a week . The whole experience and process for fostering was nice and easy . Staff are courteous and handled everything professionally
Excellent service and exceptional staff. Dogs and cats here are taken care of with lots of tender loving care.
Took my Nala there to get spayed love the workers they are so kind and explained everything to me
This newly constructed facility is clean well-run the staff is good and kind to all the four-legged creatures there the spay neuter clinic is well run timely and again staff all very good and kind to the animals and their new families we got our new four-legged baby there Natalie we feel lucky and blessed thank you SPCA St Francis shines on you God bless
No one ever answers the phone nor responds to emails. I’ve left 6 voice mails and sent 4 emails with no response. Getting a spay appointment is nearly impossible at the place.
Terrible customer service! We knew from the start that they were not going to be helpful and judged based on not having a house - which is horrible! Giving love does not require owning a house !Very disappointed in this place and felt the animals were sad as they were not given proper attention.Do not recommend
Ive adopted a cat & dog over the years & the staff was awesome! They work very hard at training the animals for adoption. Great experience & very clean shelter.
This place is absolutely amazing! The staff here works hard to give these poor animals a second chance! Adopted my baby from here! They will always have my support when I can give it to them!
Didn’t even inform us they made the decision to euthanize the dog we dropped off- an longtime client who had been surrendered by her owner at our boarding facility- until we called and inquired about her only to find out she was dead after barely a week in the shelter. We clearly communicated we would like to be kept in the loop, that we would come get her if things went poorly, and although she might have had behavioral problems, euthanizing a scared dog who’s never even been given a chance to acclimate? Poor girl wasn’t even given a proper chance. If you need to rehome your pet for whatever reason do not drop them off here.
Adopted my dog from SPCA and they are the best. The staff and volunteers are friendly and so helpful. I would recommend them to anyone looking to adopt a dog or cat.
Three days ago spca of westchester advised us to give them out teritorial dog so they can train her and find her a better fit home, they assured us that she was in good hands and they would find her a new home. giveing her up was one of the hardest thing Ive ever had to do but the said it was the best idea. Three days later they called and told us that they had put her to sleep, I feel like they lied to us and just gave up..... Never give your best friend to this no kill shelter
I adopted my first dog back in February and the SPCA Westchester truly paired me with my perfect match. Ada Mae is the sweetest girl and I’m so thankful that the volunteers take the time to match adopters with the personality of the animal!
Beautiful facility and animals have play areas and seem very comfortable. I was impressed by the ways the animals are displayed and the way they are cared for.
