I have learned so much from Anneliese! She has been helping me work with my working line Kelpie in competition obedience skills. I love how she tailors everything for the dog and owner in front of her. She is great at listening, patient, creative and thoughtful in her approach. I wish there was a way to give her more than 5 stars!!! I highly recommend Anneliese and The Art of Dogs.

Wonderful place. My girlfriend and I had our 4 month old puppy, Sally, go through their 2-week-long board and train program, and she came back with much improvement and many additional skills. This was not from a lack of trying on our part. We had Sally for 7 weeks prior to reaching out to The Art of Dogs. We did the research, got the toys and treats, spoke to pet shops, and we even listened to dog podcasts, but Sally was regressing. As the weeks went on she was slowly getting more and more difficult. We wanted to do everything right by Sally and put her first in all our planning. We tried several different dog-sitting apps, and with the second sitter, we had an awful experience. We gave them a happy, playful puppy and received a trembling, terrified, and urine smelling puppy in return. After spending the next 4-5 hours going back and forth to the pet store that night we both humbly agreed that we did not know what was best for Sally and needed to look for a professional. We were initially skeptical of dog trainers and daycare centers. However, myy girlfriend and I could not have been more pleased with our experience with The Art of Dogs. This is what we got from the 2 weeks of board and train. A complete 180: Sally before would become very energetic to the point of losing self-control, jumping and nipping at you, and she would bark and just completely lose it in the excitement, disregarding our commands. We got back a dog that would: sit and not move until released, wait to greet someone, and stay by your side in a walk and one that would go to their bed happily. We had several in-person sessions along with many telephone and email conversations where Annelise, the owner, and our trainer, Rachael, both gave us clear explanation of what they did, what we needed to do, and how to apply these procedures and skills in our home environment. They went as far as recommending to us things such as proper leashes, harnessess, and food that benefitted Sally. We still, even after the 2 weeks, have the means to contact The Art of Dogs with questions or concerns we have with great and targeted advice for Sally.***We could not recommend enough***

Anneliese is amazing! Henry took to her immediately and before she even directly interacted with him, he was focused and responsive to her. She gave us the foundational knowledge that will help us successfully teach our puppy basic obedience skills. I fully recommend her and The Art of Dogs!

I wish that there was a way to give more than five stars. Bend is so fortunate to have Anneliese and Ryan as dog trainers. I first started working with Anneliese about 5 years ago. Because of my work schedule, I recognized that I wouldn’t have the time I needed to do the extensive socialization that I wanted to do with my puppy. I started the search for a day board situation where the trainer would work with the puppy during the day, and I could augment that training at night and on my days off. After a thorough search, I decided to go with Anneliese and I’ve been working with her ever since.I’ve taken classes with her (group and private) and worked with her through day and extended board and training. As someone who trials my dog, I’m extremely picky about dog trainers. Since the industry isn’t regulated, there are a lot of people out there claiming to be professional trainers with few qualifications. Anneliese is the real deal. One of the things I love about Anneliese is that she really wants to see you and your dog succeed whether its as a house pet with good manners, or in competition combined with qualifications and experience to make it happen. She’s with you all the way giving both you and your dog the tools and confidence you need to be successful. I would highly encourage everyone to work with her.

Started working with Annalise and Ryan to help our puppy learn the Art of being a great dog. She is spending one on one time as well as train and board with them. They are great to work with, know their craft, and love helping dogs and owners find their way together. We were skeptics on e-collar training, yet after 2 months, we are seeing the results and a very happy dog. This isn’t classroom training, but real scenarios with plenty of interactions with other people and dogs. Our dog looks forward to her visits each week and can’t wait for her next camp! And, Ryan is a fantastic photographer so you get tons of action pics!

I cant speak highly enough of Anneliese and the Art Of Dogs. Having experienced a variety of training approaches with several dogs over the years, I found in Anneliese a trainer with a wonderfully balanced, scientifically informed, flexible approach that has been effective. My one year old Golden Retriever, full of energy and willfulness, came back from her board and train experience full of energy and willfulness...but transformed, focused, as though a switch was flipped in her brain.Anneliese didnt train my dog into submission, she taught her how to appropriately exercise her own inherent drive and determination. And, most important, Anneliese taught me how to understand, handle and support the dog I have, providing exceptional instruction and follow up so we can continue to be a successful team. Now, we walk leisurely through the park, past any number of distractions, her recall is 100% solid...we can really enjoy all it means to be dog and human together. This is the best investment Ive ever made in a dog.

We have a Golden Retriever that was sweet in most ways but showed aggression when it came to sharing toys and around food. After doing a great deal of research, we were happy to find The Art of Dogs. Anneliese worked wonders during a 4 week boot camp and returned our guy with not only additional training but we are now much more confident taking him around other dogs. We would highly recommend The Art of Dogs.

First of all I can’t say enough about Anneliese and the professionalism of The Art Of The Dog. Great quality of work, kindness and exceptional compassionate training techniques. Our Aisley was preparing for her puppy show and if it weren’t for Anneliese she would not have been the star that she turned out to be.We are traveling but can’t wait to return for our puppy to have another training session to reinforce all that she has learned. This is a one stop shopping. You don’t need to go anywhere else!

Anneliese, the trainer at Art of Dogs did a fantastic job with my high anxiety German Shepherd. She took my dog in for three weeks at her home and taught her to walk on a leash nicely because before I could not walk her without a haltie, and even then, she would pull like crazy. My dog now walks politely on the leash and listens to commands Anneleise taught her. She also helped her with her dog reactivity on walks. Before coming to the Art of Dogs, my dog would lose her mind and bark like crazy at other dogs and was impossible to recall even with food. Anneleise was able to teach us both how to recall my dog, so we could walk past other dogs and get her to not bark at them. We can now walk past dogs barking behind fences or inside of houses without my dog pulling on her leash or barking. This was something I had never been able to achieve with any other trainer I had seen before. She also reinforced sitting and staying.

Our boys (chocolate lab littermate brothers) are awesome and also a hand full. Anneliese has an aptly named organization. Raising dogs is an art and her thoughtful, direct and respectful approach to training both human and canine has helped our family life together in harmony.

Anneliese and Ryan have graciously donated their time and opened up their home to several struggling dogs from a local animal shelter. They have helped these dogs tremendously and assisted in their adoptions. It’s a resource a shelter dog and shelter staff can only dream of!We are so thankful to them for their generosity and talent. Central Oregon is lucky to have them.
