Cunningham Park Dog Run

We go here frequently or at least we use to. NYC parks is not maintaining the area at all, the weeds are so overgrown there isn’t even anywhere for the dogs to play anymore, it’s ridiculous… do better!

Who maintains the dog park? Volunteers or the parks dept? They have a brand new built basketball courts and playground but can’t maintain the dog park. Overgrown grass, I mean I thought it was bad before with just dirt and no grass but this is horrible. Some artificial grass would be nice…and working water fountain for the dogs.

Small dog run, two separate fenced areas,decently maintained. Fence does dip at the far end and is a bit lower, so if your dog is a jumper be aware of the low points along the fence.

Great place to walk, exercise, lay out. Persons with dogs 🐕 love it. It is patrolled by parks department and police 🚔

The dog run has two sections, one for small dogs and the other for large. The ground is mostly dirt now as the original wood chips placed when the Parks Department moved the dog run from its original location have disintegrated. There are a few benches for humans to sit and there is some shade. There is water available. I like the dog run and it is set in a nice quiet area of the park. The park itself is nice to walk around in. I would love it if the Parks Department replenished the wood chips ground cover or even replaced it with an artificial turf.

My dogs Roxy, Chico and Teddy love this dog ring, because it gives them a chance to exercise and enjoy meeting others, both dogs and humans. Us humans also get a break from the stresses and get to socialize with one another too.They love being able to run around and play. The atmosphere feels good and comfortable. Its a great get away after work.

Its a great experience to explore Queens with my dog Pepper. Pepper meets many new friends there and have fun. A very good place for dogs!

It has dirt ground which if your dog has the itch for digging. This is the place. Its moderately clean and not well kept. The park is dirt only, your dog will get really dirty, especially if you take them here when its wet.The wood chips have piled up on one of the fences, making it easy for some dogs to jump over and escape.The fountain wasnt working since 2023 summerBathroom is near by and parking is near by.

Actually this was our 1st time at the dog park and the pups had a great time. The dog park was clean of poop but the water fountain in the dog park does not work and there are no toilets close to the dog park. There are benches some new and some old, there is no shady spot. The dog park could use a new face lift and a whole lot of TLC

Minus that star. So unkept. The woodchips are piled up two feet in the corner against the fence. A medium dog could easily jump over the fence. The playground next to the run is under construction and the water for the dogs was turned off all summer. This run is badly neglected by the NYC Parks Dept. The grass over grown, doesnt get cut. One of the benches has been broken all summer. The Parks Dept. can do better.

Excellent place to spend the day with family and friends, have a barbecue party or simply play ball and ride a bike.

Love this park!! They have everything for all age groups… restrooms open till 5pm.. picnic n bbq area… loads of parking

The dog park had wood chips covering the dirt, not safe for the dogs paws, the dog park did not have any running water for the dogs as the water fountain was broken, oneof the benches where very old wood n not covered. Not sure if I would travel the 45minutes to this dog park.

This park is Awesome!!! For so many reasons. You can run, walk, ride, exercise, using the public equipments, walk the trails, play tennis, baseball and much more. Walk your dog, have them meet/make new friends in there own space. You can BBQ, have a party (clean up/bag your excessive trash please) permit is required if you want to hold a spot. This park is well kept and maintained. Lots of space, 🌳 and the open air to breathe.

The only things the dog runs have are dirt and large rocks. Both runs get muddy very quickly when it rains, and the larger one is a mess for days after it stops raining. There are no trees (no shade) and no grass. It isnt a bit inviting. The old run was more spacious and had some shade and grass.

Nice dog park. They have small and large dog parks to separate the large dogs from small ones.

The owners and their dogs are all together in one place so they both become dog park friends. Its s place where your dog (s) can meets friends and run around free of the leash. Whether you spend a half hour or two hours its a nice setting for you, and good exercise in a social environment for the dogs.

Spacious and the dogs in this area love it and know each other very well. Everyone is very nice.

This was my first experience going to a dog park it was very nice because there are a couple of sections for bigger dogs and smaller dogs to play separately. I have a small dog who thinks hes very large so it was nice to have the space and all the owners were attentive to their dogs which made me experience very pleasant.

Great little park. Very active. Under construction but will have clearly designated areas for pinics, bbqing, exercise etc. Has a small dog park which i add a word of caution.As with all dog parks ,this park could have some bad apples. Observe the crowd before entering. At times its better to walk your dog around the general park than subject your dog to a hot bed of poorly regulated activity. This park has a lovely half mile, i think, path to walk around, several tennis courts,2 or 3 baseball fields and a Baci ball area. Plenty for all to enjoy!

This place is good to have party get some spend time with family or girlfriend

Poop bags are not there so poop Id on the ground left by unprepared or unrespectful dog owners. Lots of holes need to be filled in. Broken picnic table of little use except for dogs to climb on. There used to be a table to sit at. The shaded benches are a plus.

The water fountain didn’t work, there were no potty bags, and the ground is an inconsistent mix of dirt, gravel, sand, and wood.

This probably may get bigger stars from other reviewers but..... I just moved here from Illinois and the dog parks there are a site to behold in comparison. This dog park is small but acceptable. I just wish it had more space to offer with trails.

Cunningham park dog run is a great playground for your dog big or small. Theres a parking lot so you can drive there. But the most important thing is your dog is able to roam/run free while meeting other dogs. .... JM.

This park is a great place to take the entire family from your youngest to the elders... There is simply something for everyone and the environment is so relaxing and peaceful.

This is not a good dog park to bring your puppy here. My 4 month old German shepherd got hurt by a pitbull. I am a new dog owner and I didn’t know that small dogs and large dogs have to be separate. Since in Cunningham dog park they are all mixed in together. I advise you to not go here the dogs here are aggressive it’s not meant for puppies especially.

Great park. Huge space and super clean. There are picnic areas, basketball courts and a dog run. Just moved in myself nearby and I cant wait to explore this park more!

All kinds of dogs here. Great place for your dog to meet and interact with others of its kind. Also, owners get to converse with other owners and talk roofroofs, Kibbles n bits ..lol.. Plenty of free parking also.

My little one always has a blast here. Friendly people that go here; a nice, warm, welcoming vibe. You and your k9 will love it 😁

Simple park. Nothing exotic but clean. Fence could be higher though.

The ground bark is better than gravel at some dog runs, but just grass or turf would be even better.

Love bringing my puppy here. Grass is clean, you can walk on it without stepping in something left by another dog owner. The few people that I’ve encountered there have been friendly and the best part of all it’s super close to home.

Its just oksy. Two people left their poop. Theres a hose and a space to run. A place to sit. If you just need a place for your dog to eun its okay.

Not many other dogs come here, but I only gave it 3 stars because I have a preference of sand type of ground than wood chips and dirt.

Very nice run. Plenty of room for dogs to run and Chase balls. Nice regular crowd and the dogs get to know each other.

I always enjoy Cunningham park..the dog run not so much..its nothing much, needs some sprucing up and an expansion. My poochum wasnt feeling it either.

It was great but the only thing was that they closed the bathrooms at 4pm and past that you have to go In the bushes plus the dont even clean up they do outside but not there but beside that it was great and big

The dog park itself is ill maintained , but the actual park is very clean and trails are easy to walk on.

Cunningham park was always the go to park in the area, i recently revisited after many years, brought back lots of memories great park and big

Nice but it had woodchip as flooring. Large pieces that can give splinters on the paws. Prefer to see sand or dirt.

This a nice little dog park along with big playground for the kids and adults.

Filthy! Medium is old mulch & dirt. Water fountains at entrance force you to walk through mud to get in or out of the park.

The entrance to the dog park was muddy. Maybe because its been raining. However, my shibas enjoyed walking around the rest of the park.

Nice park, why do they close the restroom so early after 5 there closed, so your out of gas if you had to go 9

The wood they put down is too big and hurts the dogs paws. They used to put chips but now its not like that. I will not go back

Park is very nice and clean, well kept .watch out for the big bump in the parking lot .

I take my dog to this park and he loves it! Has even a little dog park inside.

It was packed and most owners were too busy socializing to bother cleaning up after their pets. Too bad its the only dog run for miles

Its an ok place to chill very relaxing

Fence is not high enough, do not come here after it has rained. The garbage is never picked up. I travel from fresh meadows to Tully dog park in NHP off of Denton Ave. A lot better crowd of dogs there with a cleaner more safe environment for dogs to run around in.
