We hired Jay and Top Dog Training when we adopted our new Pitbull mix puppy. She was 12 weeks when we got her and we were concerned that as she grew, we needed to be sure she was well trained and obedient. We also have a 9 year old hound mix who doesn’t always get along with other dogs, although she is very sweet with people. We wanted some help and advice on how to integrate the two of them with each other.Jay was terrific! After one session the puppy had the beginning of a good recall as well as other basic commands. He also worked with the older dog and gave us helpful tips on how to start getting them used to each other, which has been working wellWe continued using the techniques Jay taught us with both dogs. The puppy is now 6 months old and responds very consistently to commands like touch, stay, settle and is getting to be a pro at walking on the leash.Jay did a great job for us and with our dogs and we highly recommend him!

I am a first time owner to a very curious and energetic pup and it was very important to me to begin her training from young. Jay has such a calm and positive demeanor which my 10 week old pup took to immediately. Everytime she saw him, she was always eager greet him and to begin her training. Our 6 month old bernedoodle, Harley, learned so much from Jay! Every time Jay walked through the door, Harley would be so excited. Harley mastered a lot of commands and even some tricks. Thank you Jay for your expertise. I am a first time dog owner, so I had little idea how to train my 4 months old Mini Goldendoodle. And he is full of energy and is a mischievous little guy. Jay was a great trainer! He was so calm and patient working with our 4-month-old golden retriever puppy, Hudson. Jays overall knowledge in dogs and their behaviors made me feel that hudson was in good hands. Hudsons favorite part of the week was his training sessions with Jay! At four and a half months Hudson knows all the basic commands and is eager to learn more.

Jay came to my rescue when Winston, my goldendoodle puppy, was only 3 months old. Within 5 training sessions he has learned to sit, stay, lay down, get off, walk with me, wait, go to his bed, settle, fetch a ball and bring it back to me! The discipline has made him a better companion and theres really only a few minutes each day that I practice with him. Jay is like a dog whisperer… he is wonderful with dogs. It was such a pleasure to work with Jay! From the first session, he was easy going and radiated calm energy which was very reassuring. He was very patient with my pup (and me). My pup needed help with everything- barking, walking on a leash, proper behavior at the park, and I needed to learn how to properly approach different situations and reward at the appropriate times. We worked with Jay over the summer for our 75 lb reactive dog Charlie. In just 5 sessions Charlie has made huge improvements! Jay is a superb trainer who not only gets results, but does so in a kind and understanding manner. Our six month old puppy was nippy, jumpy, and generally difficult to manage. As we would not consider any negative re-enforcement training, we looked at Top Dog as a last resort before potentially trying to re-home her. After a few days working with Jay she seemed to really turn the corner and after the two-week board and train program, literally returned home a different dog. The program includes two at home follow ups and literally an open-ended advice line. Worth every cent.

Jay is phenomenal! I have a 4 year-old Beagle who has anxiety. He started to act out and he wasnt being so nice to our other Beagle who was a new member of the family. I was referred to Top Dog Training by my vet to get some help with impulse control for Snickers. During my first conversation with Jay, he provided me with tips on how to help minimize Snickers anxiety. I followed his recommendations and saw improvement within a few days. It only got better once Jay started to work one-on-one with Snickers. Jay really understood Snickers and he was able to keep him focused and calm while working with him. We are a few weeks after completing training and I continue to work with Snickers using the tools Jay provided me with. I am happy to report that there is much improvement. Snickers is calmer, even his separation anxiety has gotten better. He now thinks before he acts and listens to us when we give him a command. Jay helped train my 1 year plus Chihuahua/Terrier pup. Jay has a calming presence not only for the dog but for me who’s never had a dog before. My dog took to Jay and listen to his commands. We used Jay from Top Dog Training Nassau County | NYC to help train our 10 week old puppy Zoey. Prior to training Zoey would need to be on a leash in our yard because she liked to pick up rocks. With Jays training Zoey quickly picked up on drop it and leave it so that we could bring her in our yard off leash without worrying that she might eat a rock. My wife & I decided to get a puppy since the kids are grown & out of the house. We got Max, a 2 month yorki. If you are looking for a dog trainer, no need to look any further. Jay is an amazing trainer who worked with our dog Theo (Cavapoo) and got him exactly where we needed him to be. He was very jumpy, pulling the leash on walks and would grab things in the house that didn’t belong to him. We didn’t want this to occur once we had our newborn in the house. We did the 2 week board and training course. It was well worth it. Theo is well trained and behaves well too. Bonus is that Jay came to do two home visits to make sure Theo is still getting the proper home training and adds some additional training guidance to keep him doing well. Well I hear great things about Jay, but I was assigned Ariella, who trains dogs in Queens. Truthfully, I paid $1500 for 10 home training sessions and I felt that I could of just you tubed a bunch of videos and train my dog. I would receive some notes and I felt like the notes were just a copy and paste from another dogs case. She was nice, but for what I paid...I expected more.

Jay was amazing with my Shiba Inu puppy. Hes patient and caring which really helps with training my stubborn puppy. My Kody was super excited whenever Jay showed up and hes a much better behaved dog now thanks to Jay.

When my husband and I decided to adopt a 5 year old dog named Alma were were super worried about how she was going to adjust in our new home with our existing dog, Romeo.After taking the shelters advice to take things slow we decided to hire a dog trainer to help guide us through the process. After calling multiple places Jays Top Dog Training really stood out against the rest. He asked a lot of questions about our current situation and about our dog and us which made me feel like he was really getting to know us. I instantly felt like he was the natural fit. Over the period of five weeks we saw a big improvement in our new dog’s obedience. Jay was always available for additional questions and always arrived on time. My dog Alma would always run to Jay and be so happy to see him and I know she will miss him, as we also will but its nice to know we always have someone we can call on when we need guidance!

For my 11-month-old, energetic puppy, Jays training has been so effective. Jays calm expertise has made a big and pleasing impact. The sattle command he taught us has been incredibly helpful to calm my pup and also to brush my dogs teeth. My dog has become even sweeter after Jays guidance.
