I rescued Rosie 3 years ago, when she came to me she didnt even weigh 5 lbs. She is definitely a Heinz 57. However, Michael at Reliable Grooming makes her look special and that makes her very proud of herself. Thank you Michael, she looks amazing.

In my search for a long-term local groomer, I found Reliable Grooming on Crossbay Boulevard. With 99 four-star reviews on Google, I was surprised by the lower score on Yelp. Reading the negative comments was disheartening. Having worked in a grooming shop, I understand the difference between valid criticism and pettiness, unrealistic expectations, or malice from competitors or unreasonable customers.Groomers are artists, not magicians. If you dont care for your dog properly, you cant expect miracles. For example, if my dog is matted and gets shaved, thats on me. If my dog bites and the groomer refuses service, thats not the groomers fault. Passionate business owners also have the right to defend themselves against unfair criticism online especially when it jeopardizes their livelihood.After an hour of reading reviews, I decided to try Reliable Grooming and Michael, the owner. My doodle has a tight, curly coat, which is challenging to manage. Michael was professional, honest, and straightforward. Understanding the realities of dog grooming, I didnt have specific expectations about the pickup time. After a few hours, I called and was told I could come get my dog in half an hour. When I picked him up, he was calm, happy, and looked amazing. Michael informed me about my dogs matting and gave me tips for care between grooming sessions.If I noticed minor issues like a bleeding nail quick or a cut from my dogs quick movements, I wouldnt blame Michael. If his coat was cut shorter to avoid pain due to matting, I wouldnt blame Michael. If you cant handle the realities of dog grooming, groom your dog yourself.I support local small businesses and owners who truly care about their craft and customers. One negative review can deter a lot of potential business. If you dont like a service, move on without trying to ruin someones livelihood. I highly recommend Reliable Grooming and Michael for anyone seeking a professional, caring groomer.

Great service! If youre looking good care for your pets, look no further. This place does it all. The professionalism is above standard. My cane corso was treated with love and the boarding when down without a hitch. I highly recommend this place.

When questioned why my dog was bleeding from his tongue I was told he moves too much. This is extremely poor grooming and no accountability was taken or an apology. Save your dog from this unprofessional who calls himself a groomer more like a butcher with no care to pets.

I moved and was very picky on getting my poodle another groomer because he’s only been to one his whole life , so yes his hair was very long (not matted) and his nails are long .. since it got to that point I said okay let me find one near my area I found this place and booked an appointment. I walked in with my poodle and the worker in the front was very disgustingly rude before I could tell him anything he was making faces and told me I don’t know how to take care of my poodle , I just walked out , I did not feel comfortable dropping my dog off with someone like that , As a business owner you should keep your rude nasty comments to yourself and appreciate people are willing to come to you and pay you for YOUR service but with that attitude good luck !

Great place . The staff is amazing and the workmanship is great. Was very happy with the way my doggie looked . I own a malamute. Not everyone can handle that kind of dog thank u guys .

They actually do great work. The owner Mike is nice and gracious but the women who works with him with the Karen bob cut hairstyle has a disgusting condescending and rude attitude.

The best care and concern for your pets. Michael is also a very deep-rooted neighborhood resident and has a gift for working with animals. Very rare gift that draws the animals in.

I was very hopeful that Michael will groom my little one. A neighbor highly recommended. I called and they asked me to bring the dog for assessment. Told him how scared and anxious he gets and also bites but I will give him a relaxing pill on appointment day. He agreed to do it. Well, they called me an hour before the appointment to cancel and there went the last 2 pills I have. Today he told me he doesnt have the time for a dog like mine,sorry you wasted your pills, not my fault your dog is bad💔 😢 I left the place in tears. What it is with these dogs places supposedly so well trained to deal with all type of dogs? Why no one wants to take care of rescued dogs? Is not the dogs fault either.. It is very disappointing. I wished i had read the reviews before.. on the other hand I have to say that the front desk girls are very pleasant and polite.

I was more than pleased with the grooming here. They were thorough and made me and my baby feel content and happy. We will reccomend and return.

Been bringing mine and my familys dog Doc here since he was a puppy. I can honestly say there was only 1 haircut i wasnt 100 happy with. No nicks or cuts or any damage to him, just wasnt 100% happy with the way he looked aesthetically. But hey it happens. Otherwise ive really never had complaints w them. He always comes out happy and looking all fresh and clean!

Been using Reliable Grooming(Michael) for over 10 years. They treat our furbabies as if they were theirs . You cant get any better !!

Reliable Grooming is the only place I would ever take my dog too. My dog walk in nervous and comes out the happiest pup there is. He cut is done to perfection not a hair out of place and best of all he is happy with them. Today my boy went for a cut and he didn’t want to leave. That says a lot about how they treat you best friend.

I brought my dog in for a simple nail trim, they cut my dogs nails too short and cut the vein. They didn’t say anything about it and by the time i got home my dog was bleeding everywhere. When i called to say what was happening, they told me bleeding after nail trims was “normal” They’re a mess in there, the way the man with the mohawk speaks in the back is nasty and rude, as soon as they took my dog into the back they have loose dogs everywhere and they let these dogs go near and on top of my dog who was scared and they didn’t do anything about it. They’re genuinely a horrible business and I’d never bring my dog here again.

My dog Coco was groomed there. Very pleasant and friendly. My dog was groomed washed with nail clipping and teeth brushing. When i picked her up she looked and smelled amazing and breath was good. It was very fast and convenient location. Would recommend this dog grooming to anyone.

Mike and the crew here are amazing, respectful, sooo caring, and do a wonderful job. We will continue as always and reccomend of course.

Unfortunately, my familys dog did not have a good experience today. He had a 2:00pm grooming appointment. My parents dropped him off at 1:50pm. The appointment usually lasts about 2 hours, and they call 30 minutes before the dog is ready to be picked up.We were surprised that they did not call by 4pm, so my mother called and left a message. No one called back. At 5pm, my mother went in person to find out what was going on.She was told that our dog was not ready because someone had gotten sick and had to go home so our dog had not been bathed yet. They asked her to come back in an hour. When she returned to pick him up at 6pm, he was still damp and sitting on a wet floor next to a bucket of water. Our dog was there from 1:50pm to 6:08pm. We were then charged $30 more than the usual fee.This was a very disappointing experience. We will not be returning, and hope that this review will help the business gain awareness and not do this to another dog.

Not very detailed as once was. Brought my dog back with a bleeding nail. Not even an apology. Place smells. Found a new groomer. Called to cancel next appt, girl didnt even ask to reschedule or if any problem. Owell.Yes you called me. I refuse to pay a portion of your transportation back to ny just because you have incompetent people working for you!

Fast thorough good service

I called to get a full service for my dog , and the woman told me they dont wash my breed of dog. He is not even a full breed! Who turns down business???? When I asked her why, she said, they didnt have a good experience with my breed of dog even though my dog is a mixed breed! I would never take my dog there, especially if they dont know how to handle any particular breed. BTW, he is half Chow Chow. He is very docile and sweet.

I have left my Caesar twice and both times he didnt want to come home with me 😂😂😂 They really love him and they know how to deal with a very nervous puppy owner. I am so happy that we found a place that we can trust! It really takes the stress out of vacation planning.

Absolutely the most horrific experience of our lives. Brought my puppy Miguel for his cut, after paying, I waited quite a few minutes for Mike to bring my son back out... he told me that Miguel licked the scissor and cut his tongue. He was covering Miguels mouth with a tissue. When I removed the tissue, his tongue was not only sliced but was missing an entire piece of it :(. This is clearly not the outcome of Miguel licking the scissor himself. He blamed his own carelessness on my puppy, and completely lied about it. I had to take him to the animal clinic right around there, where the veterinarian was in utter shock and advised me right away that he will be needing stitches. Accidents happen, however I didnt receive a single apology, a single follow up phone call to see how Miguel is doing and he never mentioned it again to any other clients. Now Im dealing with my puppy recovering from his new tongue transformation, his traumatic experience, and his sudden weight loss. All because of his carelessly and he was completely unapologetic. Needless to say, I will not be bringing my son Miguel there again.

I had to retract what I said Micheal. I called you after my last visit. These dogs werent washed I was upset. I paid over $100 for my boys to be washed and groomed and they werent this is why I havent been back. I was hurt. Please dont try to convince me they were I know when they have been cleaned properly because I kiss all over my boys and they smelled just like when I dropped them off. Spraying cologne on them couldnt hide it.Im not going to go back and forth on this. First, if this is false lets do the resume. Ive been coming to you for years since you were located on the second floor of the vet clinic run by Dr. We instead a few blocks down. Ive had a total of 16 litters of Toy Poodles. I have given all if my grandpoodles to CO Workers at my lob NYPD. Ive always referred them to the clinic and you for grooming. Many of whom Ive had disputes with because they to claimed you werent cleaning there dogs. I went to bat for you because I never had that issue until last year. I like many others work hard for my money and I dont appreciate anyone taking it and not doing the job. I dropped my two babies off at 11:00 am. They are always the last for pick up. Last year I texted you after I discovered they had no been clean. You never called me back. I text you Micheal we need to talk a few days later you text me and said about what I tried to call and left a voice mail. No return call. Here it is a year and now I notice you want to reach out to me. Then you responded to another person on her that was fake. Your not being honest on here so how can anyone expect you to be honest in your work. Im as real as you and your wife Jennifer are. Now if Im fake how would I know your wifes name.? After all is said and done I was hurt by the service you gave me. As I said I have been coming to you for years. Hell, when my dog died you gave me JAHRULE. I thought you really cared about me as a customer. I would never expect you to do as you wrote the....IMPOSSIBLE . I truly hope in your 25 years of serving Cross Bay area you dont continue to do what I felt was such a despicable thing to anyone else. I trusted you Micheal and i was so very disappointed 😞 in how you treated a long term customer. Be honest even in your ratings comments. Im as real as can be and not out to hurt anyone. I just want to get what I paid $130.00 for my two sweetheart GROOMED accordingly. Good by Micheal. P.S. you can stop calling me and I didnt read your text either. Horrible experience. I specifically told them what I wanted and did the complete opposite. They shaved all my Pomeranian fur all off and didn’t want to give me a refund. My poor baby looks horrible, whatever you do NOT take your dog here.

I never brought my dog here but looking at the reviews I would never bring my loved here nor would I recommend anyone to this place. The responses from the owner alone is very unprofessional. To read what these poor owners & their pets went through is unbelievable.

What an absolutely horrible place. My dog came back with razor cuts all over her body. The haircut was awful and she was full of hair when I picked her up. This place was a last resort because my regular groomer was unavailable. I would never use them again!!!

I must say this will definitely be my fur baby new groomers..My regular grooming place shut down do to lost of funds because of covid..And I remember driving by Reliable Grooming so I called and he was actually seen the same day..My baby looks very handsome and the staff members are extremely pleasant dont ever go by negative reviews try them out it is totally worth it

MY DOGS NECK WAS CUT BY THESE PEOPLE!!! I COULDNT FIGURE OUT WHY MY BABY WAS SO SCARED WHEN I PICKED HIM UP FROM HERE. AS SOON AS I GOT HOME I REMOVED THE BANDANA THEY PUT ON HIM AND HE HAS THIS HUGE DEEP CUT TO HIS THROAT!!!! THESE PEOPLE SAID ABSOLUTELY NOTHING TO ME. THEY PUT BABY POWDER OR SOMETHING INSIDE THE GASH TO HIDE IT!!! I SHOULDVE STAYED AWAY WHEN I FOUND OUT THESE PEOPLE MAKE THEIR MONEY OFF THEIR BACKYARD BRED PUPPIES. THEY FAKE ALL THE PAPERWORK. NOW IM HEARING THAT THEY OFTEN END UP CUTTING DOGS AND TRYING TO HIDE IT OR BLAME THE DOG!!! STAY AWAY AT ALL COSTS!!!

We were in search of a new groomer due to the current times. A neighbor recommended Reliable Grooming. We were apprehensive as our Sunny, an almost 14yr old Shih Tsu is very nervous when it comes to grooming and being separated from his family. So excited to share Sunny LOVES his visits to Reliable, he looks like a puppy again and is SO HAPPY!! We are now loyal customers and are so grateful to the wonderful caring staff. As any fur parent knows, trust is crucial and we have found it here! Highly recommend Reliable Grooming!!

The guy groomer was great and our pup looked great, but the women was awful. As a business owner she missed the class on professionalism and good customer service. She called my husband a liar to his face and then proceeded to tell him he couldnt use the Groupon we had even though she told him prior on the phone he could. She ruined the whole experience and we wont be returning.

I recommend to not go there it’s Horrible. I took my puppy there to cut,bath my puppy and the cut his nails all the wall and his nails were bleeding.they shaved his tail and I told them not to which is Unexpectable worse experiment in my life I am so upset and I recommend not to go there because I don’t want you guys to experience the same thing I did.

Not only do they have the best staff and treat the dogs as they would treat their own dogs but they sell puppies too!
