Wags and Tails Kennel - Middle Island

Took our new dog here for his first boarding ever and he left so happy. The owner also seems like he genuinely cares about the pets there. Its nice that each dog has their own space too!

Our Husky ( Ivar ) stayed here for a few days while we traveled to see family for Thanksgiving. He was very well taken care of and happy. When we picked him up he also smelled AMAZING and looked all soft, fluffy and groomed. I definitely recommend Wags and Tails if you need to board your pet for a while. We will always use them for now on. A big thank you to you all for taking such good care of our pup!!!

Dropped off on Friday, picked up on Monday. Dog seemed well taken care of, clean, and smelled good. Not sure what some of the other reviews are but definitely not the experience we had. H8ghly recommend.

Excellent care and highly recommended! Ive brought my multiple dogs here over the course of the past 7 years and still do so, at times on the shortest of notice. Theyve always been so friendly, accommodating, and my pets come home cleaner than when they arrived. They show that they care and are bery knowledgeable too. We are a pet family, 5 dogs and 1 cat and I wouldnt bring them anywhere else.

Thank you for taking great care of our boy while we were away. Love that he had outdoor and indoor run to use.

This place is very unprofessional and unreliable. I poke to Peter about the dates I needed and never did it . I call back and he tells me oh there are no spots available mean while I spoke to him weeks ago . I went to look at the place and spoke to his wife who looked like she was having a bad day . And the place smelled like dog urine I wouldn’t leave my dog at that place .just not clean at all .. The office smelled like an ashtray.

I left my dog there for the first time last week. Shes very anxious to be left, an older dog and is on seizure medication so I was very nervous. When I came back 9 days later she seemed to be in perfect health. Very well taken care of and happy. They said she had a difficult time taking her pills so they took the time to grind them up to make sure she didnt go without. I forgot her dog bed and they provided blankets free of charge. Im going away again next week and have no hesitation in leaving her, other then Ill miss her! Shes just tuckered out from her adventure.

Peter always takes care of my crew. They never get upset when we get there and they always come back happy. One of my dogs is older and needs medicine and never had an issue.

I boarded my 2 Labs Lily & Tucker here for a weekend in December of 2023. I was a little nervous because it was my first time boarding here. Talked to the owners for quite some time before boarding and quickly found that they were very knowledgeable and truly cared for the pets they boarded! Picked them up and they were freshly bathed and happy! Highly recommend!❤️🐾

We have had 3 of our pets stay here over the years and they all had rave reviews of their time there. They made new friends, spoke as loud as they wanted and got to stay up as late as they wanted. Their hosts made their stay enjoyable with their spa treatments (bath and grooming). They always requested to go back when we time apart

I have had nothing but great experiences here and they have been super accommodating. I have boarded my pup here several times. I called a week or so ago when I had to go to the hospital (i was 9 months pregnant) and they were able to get my puppers in. We were sent home from the hospital and I was able to pick up my pup the same day. When I actually went into labor I was able to drop off my pup last minute and I let them know I didnt know how long I would need to board him- probably a few days. It has been amazing that I didnt have to worry about someone taking care of my pup while I was in the hospital. They have been amazing and I will continue to use them any time I need to board my pup.

The owners are extremely knowledgable, reliable and kind. I vacationed for a week and came back to two happy and healthy boys. Highest recommendation A+

Peter was great right from the first time I called and so was his wife. They were very informative and friendly. I dropped my 2 dogs off on a Saturday morning. Even with first time paperwork I was on my way in 10 minutes or less. When I take my dogs to the vet to board it is usually an extra half an hour while we are trying to get to the airport. The hours make it very easy to pick up and drop off on the days you are traveling. I was able to bring the dogs beds and toys, so they had some comforts of home. I will be making Wags and Tails our first choice for boarding from here on out. Thank you Peter for taking such good care of Yogi and Jojo!

I first left my beagle with Peter in 2003. The location was convenient on my way out east for weekends. I had left Daisy at another kennel near my home, but when we picked her up her nose was raw and bleeding from trying to dig out. This never happened when she stayed at Wags and Tails. She stayed there almost every weekend in July and August. She also would spend one full week in each month when we were on vacation. Peter and his staff took such good care of her. She was always happy to see him. Daisy had to be put down this year. We now have a new dog Bailey who just started staying there and she loves Peter already! Its a great place and they love animals. They are always accommodating.

Ive been using Peter to watch my beagles for probably close to 5 or 6 years. I usually leave them 3-4 times a year for a week or more at a time. Sometimes it is just for a quick weekend getaway.Peter has been great. He gives us a very fair prices for three dogs and makes sure that they are always together. We believe he takes really great care of them... and that they love going there. My next trip is this July and I plan on using him again... and again and again... well into the future.

Every time we need temporary boarding for our dogs the owner is always there to help. We have three dogs, all different sizes: a Boston Terrier, a Lab and a Great Dane. The owner Peter took care of them when we needed for last three years. When we pick them up they all are happy and healthy.

Highly recommend. Great place, very professional. I have an aggressive dog and hes not neutered, so I had hard time finding him a place during our vacations. Dont have to look anymore, over here he had his own space and he didnt have to be with other dogs. He was healthy and not depressed after we picked him up. Definitely will use them again.

I will never take my 2 chihuahuas back! Sent them there for 3 ish days and THEY STARVED my babies..I am truly upset! They looked terrible and traumatized. Taking them to the vet asap. I hate this place and will be reporting them

Great communication for booking and accomodating changes in a pinch. No issues at all with my puppy and she seemed happy. The bath at the end is everything! Would definitely use them next time we go away.

My deaf JRT/Westie has boarded at Wags and Tails many times ( from 3 days to 2 months) over the past 5 years. Vlad is at Wags and Tails as I write this! I travel often and trust Peter implicitly. Always a good experience with Wags and Tails. Thank you.

I give it the highest rating (even before I have even brought in my dog for a first time) just because the manager/supervisor/owner called me exactly 10 min after I filled in the “new client boarding form”. He sounded super friendly and nice, very accommodating and flexible and they make life a lot easier with Sunday pickups available. I am sure my dog will feel loved and well-cared for at Wags and Tails Kennel. It is AWESOME that dogs have inside and outside area that they can access 24/7. That is so unique!!!!! and especially for the rates that you pay (UNLIKE other places where you pay $50/60/70 a night and they put a 100lbs dog in a 4x4 cage and take him out 2x a day for 5 min; ridiculous).I am so happy I found Wags and Tails Kennel!!!!I wish the personnel good health first of all, more loyal and happy customers like myself, and prosperous and growing business for the many, many years ahead!!! Thank you from all my heart for existing and offering valued personal service to all pawed creatures out there!!!

My husky has stayed here several times, always comes home clean, healthy & happy. Im very satisfied with her care there and plan to use them again in the future.

It was our first time using them. Good experience they were very patient with our 8 month old G.S. Pup. This was her first time away from us. We were,able to call during the week to check on her and they were very accommodating to us. We will definitely be using them again in the future.

I have a pretty vicious dog and I always worry that he will be mistreated because for some reason people feel the need to prove they can handle him. First phone call and he said to me I have nothing to prove with your dog, if you say to stay away from him, thats what Ill do and I knew I had FINALLY found the right place. Been using them for years now, very happy with them.

I felt the need to post and I dont normally do that on these websites, but I did refer a friend to Wags and Tails because Ive been dealing with Pete and Patty for many years. They read the reviews and brought one, (Anne) to my attention.... quite honestly she is the reason Im writing this review. Pete and Patty provide wonderful service whenever I bring my dogs there. The dogs always leave happy and in the same shape that I brought them in, I have never had any issues or concerns.Additionally, Im the director of an animal rescue organization and have been for more than 15 years. Pete and Pat have often offered their facility to us when we needed help housing animals in an emergency or large rescue. They have called Upon Our rescue when they needed help with abandoned animals that had never been picked up from clients. Keep in mind they held onto these animals however long necessary before they could find it a new home absorbing the cost of their care.I simply have had nothing but good experiences and recommend them highly.To Anne..... I realize having ONE dog bark incessantly can be very annoying, never mind several dogs chiming in off key. That being said this boarding kennel along with the one that is directly next door have both been there, its my understanding for probably 70 years (or better) and neither one of them are hidden. A bit of advice one should not live near a firehouse and expect not to hear sirens, one should not live near an airport and expect to not hear planes taking off and one should not live near a boarding facility and expect to not hear dogs bark. You cannot even get annoyed with the town if they have an ordinance that is being followed because with the varied work schedules of todays society, someones night might be day and vice versa there for a 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. ordinance may not be conducive to that particular person schedule. It is unfair for you to attack someones business and or integrity because you chose to live in an area that is not conducive to your needs. PS dont move near the town landfill.....smells.

We dropped off my rescue pitbull, Georgia, for 8 nights. She’s has separation anxiety and is also fearful/aggressive towards men. From the moment she arrived, she willfully went along with Peter to her kennel. When we returned, she was eager to see us and was also fond of Peter. Highly recommend!

Our girl came back well fed, but neither my husband or I was too pleased how she was handled when we left her and picked her up. Plan to find another place next time.

My dog was traumatized, mildew blankets, why were my dogs blankets even wet was he outside the whole 8 days Im really wondering. His was coat left on all those days, his coat is torn all over on top which means another dog probably was attacking him. I was charged for excess days. My dog looks like he had been crying since I dropped him off. He looks like he had no sleep at all for 8 days. My puppy had so much eye boogers from crying it was a shame.

Riley ans Archie had a great time. We cant thank you enough for taking them at the last minute and taking such good care of them while we were away!

Took good care of my dogs for 5 days. They offer miltary discounts along with multiple dogs discount. Owner seemed nice and gave them a bath before we picked them up.

Im very disappointed .This was my first time boarding my dogs .They were boarded for 5 days for sum reason the pit was so stressed he had a bad case of diarrhea. Low and behold the both now have kennel cough!!!!!

Our goto place for our 3 dogs when we are headed out of town. Not only do they get good care we also normally use them to bathe the dogs the day we pick them up

My dog has never been more excited to jump out of the car and stay at this kennel. The owners are nice and direct and happy to work with me and my schedule.

I really loved the service me and my pets have received. The price is affordable and when I came to pick up my dogs they were clean and well taken care of.

When I picked up my dog he didnt seem himself, hes sniffling sneezing, sometimes he sounds like hes dry heaving. Dont know if I would take him there again.

I have boarded several dogs at wags and tails and have referred friends and family to board their pets . Peter and his wife are the ones I trust to care for my dogs when I am away.

Love their service. They take great care of my puppies no matter if I leave them for the weekend or when I go on vacation.

Personal service, small facility, and my dogs think that Peter is great ! Pick up and delivery if we need it and no long list of extra charges .....

The dogs are left outside in the cold and there is nobody there to watch them at nights if they get hurt or have an accident and if your dog is accustomed to being home with family, and you leave your dog here overnight, the dog will go into a deep depression and will ultimately get sick....

To owners of high-drive, active, or working dogs: this probably isnt the place for you.Our girl is a 3 year old working line german shepherd who stayed for 1 night and came back extremely anxious and smelling like urine. We suspect she wasnt exercised or stimulated enough during her stay, possibly even left in her kennel the whole time. We tried to communicate her needs to the owner but may not have been clear enough. There was also some rough handling by the owner during check-in and check-out with a slip lead that made me concerned.I guess this kind of arrangement works fine for pet dogs, but we werent happy with the experience overall. Usually dont write reviews but hope it will help others in the future.

I will bring my pet here again the next time I go on vacation. Great staff.

My girlfriend and I were looking for a place to board our pitbull, Enzo while we vacationed for a week. Hes afraid of everything, so naturally we were concerned about the environment wed be leaving him in. From the first phone call, Peter made my girlfriend feel comfortable and welcomed. We ended up boarding him for 7 days total, and we could not be happier! The check-in was extremely fast, even for us as new customers. Enzo was not hesitant to go with Peter to the kennel, which put our mind at ease. We picked him up today, and during checkout Peter told us how good Enzo was, and how they enjoyed having him there. He was given a bath, which made him smell AMAZING- and even with his sensitive skin, theres no indication that this kennel isnt kept extremely clean (Even if it did rain the last 4 days!). Our dog was given back to us happy as ever, smiling and tail wagging before he even saw us- huge brownie points! We believe we might not have gotten a cheap kennel bed back (Which we honestly dont even care about- we bought it for him to use there anyways), and Peter said theyll look into it, in case it was being washed/dried- he was super apologetic but its not even a concern- the fact that Wags-n-Tails makes sure everyone is happy and is willing to go above and beyond is what really solidified their place for us. We will 100% be using them again, and are excited for Enzos next visit!
