New Paltz Dog Training & Canine Adventures

My dogs have been going for 4 years now. Valerie is knowledgeable, patient and cares about your relationship with your dog the most. All 3 of my rescues train here and the center has been an integral part of building a healthy pack for my family.

We have been taking our dog to New Paltz Dog Training for almost 2 years now and it has been so great for him! He gets to socialize with other dogs and gets lots of exercise while he is there. Valerie is also a great resource for information and has a wealth of knowledge when it comes to dog training and health. She clearly cares a lot about all the dogs in her care and is a great trainer!

Valerie has been working with both of our dogs for the past several years - since they were puppies. She’s an amazing trainer and has an instinctive connection with dogs in general. She specializes in helping dogs with behavioral issues and uses a variety of effective techniques that she adapts to the needs of individual dogs and their owners. She and all of her staff are incredibly caring and we never worry about how our dogs fare when we board them at the New Paltz Dog Training Center. We can’t recommend them highly enough!

I began taking my dog to New Paltz Dog Training several years ago. Valerie and her staff have done amazing work with me and my dog. It’s about the human-dog connection and not just “fix my dog.” She takes the time to listen, educate and give the extra care needed. I have a difficult dog with many issues and Valerie has helped us work together. We have definitely progressed and continue to do so. I board my dog there as well. I have the upmost trust for Valerie and her team, which is important when leaving your dog and someone else’s care.

I really love New Paltz Dog Training, we are so grateful we found them! They specialize in helping people with problem dogs, and my dog had been returned to the breeder because she was “too much to handle”. She pulled on the leash like a cart horse.New Paltz Dog Training has taught me an enormous amount about my dog, and how to handle dogs in general, and I’ve had fun doing it! And, my dog loves it there so much we have continued to pay their very reasonable prices to have her go a day or two a week to work off energy running around with her friends.If you need help with your dog, I cannot imagine a better place to go for help than New Paltz Dog Training.

Weve been day school clients of New Paltz Dog Training for several years. We wanted to safely introduce our exuberant, people-loving pitbull to other dogs. I was hesitant at first — the whole pitbull thing — but Valerie and her crew are amazing. They are experts at dog group dynamics and provide a safe, fun environment for all the dogs. Mojo comes home relaxed and happy but not over tired. Adorable side effect: since going to day school, she has much more active dreams with lots of tail wagging and sleep running. She’s 9 now and shows no signs of slowing down thanks in large part to her twice weekly trips to New Paltz Dog Training and Canine Adventures.

Not only have I had the displeasure of knowing Valerie and Leonard as dog trainers, but also as lessors. There are numerous accounts online outlining the character of these individuals, and is not one in which I will entrust my beloved Scout with again. I was met with a sense of distain when I arrived at my first appointment, and have had run ins before with the couple where they were blatantly disrespectful. not the kind of people I would trust a member of my family with. If anyone would like further information regarding their character I recommend you explore the posts regarding this couple via the numerous facebook posts made about them from their tenants.

We have gone through 3 different trainers. All were pleasant, but did not seem to really connect or engage with our dog. Complete opposite here! So happy we found a place to work with us and our digs personality, and show real interest!

Valerie Erwin is a truly gifted trainer. She has taught us many things that have helped to build and strengthen the relationship with our dog. Our home is so much more peaceful since we started working with Valerie!
