New Paltz Animal Hospital

I cannot recommend New Paltz Animal Hospital enough.I had to put my sweet boy Arden down yesterday which was an incredibly hard decision. Both the staff and vet were supportive of our decision, gentle, empathetic, and understanding to both me and my cat during the transition to the Rainbow Bridge.They were transparent with pricing, gave me all of the time I needed, and answered every question I had.I won’t go to any other vet now and look forward to taking my two dogs for their care.

Been going to New Paltz animal hospital since around 2013. The staff is caring and responsive. The doctors have been wonderful to both my cats (one of whom passed in 2020). I started bringing my pets here after having a bad experience with another local vet. I have been very happy with the care my animals have received at New Paltz Animal Hospital.

They were able to get our dog in when no other vet could. They were also kind, understanding, and welcoming. The care my dog received was excellent.

I would have given them a five star, but they’re very expensive when I called in initially to make her appointment. I was told that it was $73 at the minimum for her office visit and then her baby shot and a check up to get her ready for her to be neutered And to pay $500 and I asked if I had to pay the whole thing and one time they said yes. that put a big dent in my pocket Specially, with the holidays around the corner and me living off of a fixed income that really hurt me then I got her estimate for her next visit and it’s close to $900. I guess my poor dog will not be getting fixed. There is no way I can afford $900 to Neuter her. I had a credit card that was for emergencies only and I had to use it on her vet bill. Other than that they have great compassion. They are very good very knowledgeable. My mother gave them a great reference because they worked with her financially I was expecting the same type of hospitality, but no. I went back and read some of their reviews and there was some many other people that sent through the same experienceThey were told a price and then left paying close to 500.00 dollars wow. I should have done my research myself and not listen to my mother.500. First visit them 900 for next visit to have her neutered. That’s why people don’t take there fur family’s to vets cus wow the price. There should be a sliding rate or payment plan option or an animal medical insurance planThen they said she had another shot to get so they thought I was going to make an appointment to get a shot and what spend 150 plus . Too many it worse we done bc 25 minutes to get there cuz I was told something different about them.I am so upset I will be asking for them to send me her bloodwork results broken down. I paid 500 for them and I will not lie maybe I can find a cheap place and bring her test results with meYour office or very nice but you prices are crazyThen they kept trying to add this on my bill. I even paid 25 for a plastic ring to go over her neck they could have have that to me.I am so disappointed cuz my mom talk highly of them.

Extremely happy to have found this place and Dr. Bea. My dog was suffering some cancerous tumors and has since passed, but Dr. Bea gave us a comfortable holistic approach to manage her last days. I appreciated Dr. Beas honesty and practical approach. I learned so much in our few visits with her, and felt safe knowing I was given the best plan for my dog versus being recommended fruitless invasive procedures as I had been at other places.

I love the whole team at NP Animal Hospital. I have been bringing my almost 16 year old pit to Dr. B for acupuncture and chiropractic services for 3 years now. He has been able to live more comfortably since and we would not be where we are without their care and knowledge.

Dr.Soscia and staff have been absolutely incredible for the time that they have taken care of my dog Joey. He has had a myriad of health issues which have been combatted by the incredible care/expertise shown by Dr.Soscia and staff. I always feel that Joey is in the best possible hands at New Paltz animal hospital.

If I could Id move next door to them so I can have supreme care all the time for my pet. They are an exceptional group with Dr B being its lead... Love you all and thank you for your superior care...

My dog had become extremely sick in a matter of hours and I emailed the practice prior to them opening asking for an appointment. I received a call and got an appointment before they were even open. My dog is now doing much better but it was a little scary and Dr. Soscia and her staff were excellent in caring for Remy and keeping me informed.

Dr. Soscia and staff are very supportive both of the pet and the human. Dr. Soscia takes the time to explain why she is recommending her treatment plan. She has your pets best interest in mind at all times.Thank you.

Such a good experience here! Walked in to see a very cute board with my pets name on it welcoming us. Everyone was wearing masks, and they were extremely professional and nice! You can tell they know what theyre doing, this is where Ill be bringing my cat from now on!

Had to have my precious dog Stella put to sleep on January 2nd. It was very heartbreaking. The vet and the staff were very sympathetic. Very caring. I appreciate everything they did for us. Changed my mind. The only reason they were so nice to us is because they were afraid we would sue them when my girlfriend fell and broke her shoulder on there property.

They take really good care our animals. There isn’t another vet we would go to!

I give New Paltz Animal Hospital the highest rating. I am so relieved and thankful to have Dr. Ursitti and Dr. Bea caring for our animals. They are both extremely knowledgeable, and they compliment one another with their slightly different approaches. I also appreciate how they communicate and strategize together, on behalf of our dog Gulliver. This is so rare. The receptionists and techs are equally kind and thoughtful. Its truly an excellent practice.

Highly recommend! the entire staff is so kind to my anxious cat and makes visits super quick and easy for us.

I fell suddenly into my first experience as a pet owner, and the care I get here has been excellent. My pets are always given gentle, respectful attention, and I get clear information and guidance from every member of the team. Dr. Soscia has been an absolute hero to me as I learn about being a good cat parent, going above and beyond so that I am able to give my animals their best lives. They all truly seem to understand how animals are absolutely family.

I have an indoor-outdoor cat who is extremely difficult at vet visits. He was due for his vaccines and another clinic was unable to handle him during our visit. After this stressful visit he became so alert and distrustful that we were unable to get him into his carrier before three additional vet appointments, including two at New Paltz Animal Hospital. The staff here were so understanding that I was able to cancel the appointments on the same day, and still get rescheduled.Eventually (after two weeks of trying lol) I got him into the carrier for his appointment. And to my surprise, he did not fight at all at our visit! It all worked smoothly. I truly appreciate how the doctor, the nurses and the staff made this work out, now I feel relieved that he doesn’t have to roam around unvaccinated. Thank you guys!

I bring out cat there. Very caring nice people, from the vet to the clerical staff. And they called 2 days later to see how my cats doing. I highly recommend this group as they care about each animal they see.

Would be nice if they ever had my cats prescription food in stock. Would be even nicer if they didnt DENY me getting his food from Chewy. How am I supposed to feed my cat his prescription diet if you dont ever have it in stock and deny me the ability to get it elsewhere even though you have the script on file. Im not making an appointment over a week out just so you can milk me for the office fee when I was at the Kingston Emergency Vet yesterday due to his condition (because you never have openings) and they noted that he needs to remain on his diet due to urinary crystals. You dont care about animals. Shame on you.

New Paltz Animal Hospital is truly one of the nicest places I have been to. I called, worried about my animal, and they already knew my pets name and information solely on my phone number. They had it pulled up. They are efficient, and even though I ended up not needing any service (because, I am a little dramatic and it wasnt a big deal), they called me multiple times throughout the week just to check up on my pet! Phenomenal.

We fell in love with a stray cat last month and took her here for her first exam and shots. Im so glad we did! The treatment team here is wonderful and caring and, on the office side, very, very professional, patient and efficient. Our new family member is doing much better now. Thank you!

This is now my go to animal care facility. Not only were they very accommodating (got me in same day with a very sick kitty) they were polite and professional. From beginning to end, a top notch organization. They called me the next day to see how my cat was doing. And on top of all of it? Very reasonably priced. Would (and do) highly recommend!

I’ve been seeing this vet since I moved to New Paltz in 2013. This past visit they have gone above and beyond in being considerate of both my cats and myself. The staff is extremely friendly and was so helpful in applying for care credit and walking me through what was necessary while being considerate of what my limits are financially. They offered alternative options and plans, and truthfully Dr. Alison Soscia went above and beyond in soothing my anxieties about my cats well being. This could have been an extremely stressful and upsetting visit, and instead was very informative, helpful and kind. Thanks so much!

I will start with how AMAZING the people at NPAH are to my two kids. Not only are they great with them, they are so helpful and friendly to me and always make me feel that any question I ask isnt a stupid one. NOW...on to the one star comment by a woman who wasnt allowed in to the vet office because of A PANDEMIC!!! I am a business owner and it is my option to set MY rules for MY business. If they want their staff to be safe they should be able to say that without people being upset. If you dont like the rules...open your own vet clinic and set your own rules. Bianca has always been so great with Tara, Dinah and myself and I wouldnt go ANYWHERE else because I trust them so much.

Dr. Soscia is wonderful and Im so glad we found her for our three cats. Shes attentive, funny, and very communicative about whats going on and what needs to be done, cost, etc. I also really appreciate that she takes our cats comfort into consideration. That means a lot to me as Ive had past experiences where it seemed like no one cared about the animals stress. The staff is also fantastic and kind. All-around good experiences with this practice!

I have been taking my dog to NPAH for 8 years. They have always been kind and compassionate. Both Drs are very caring and thorough. This hospital saved my dogs life a few years ago when she had gall bladder issues.The staff is the best too!

Over-prescribed meds for my dog, charged much higher than other places for the meds, acted more like a store than a medical center. I want to take care of my dog but I dont want to spend $200 a month for a healthy dog to do it. Tried to persuade me from using OTC remedies that were working, cost-effective, and safe in favor of prescription meds that they could sell me. I have no interest in discussing the issue with anybody from the clinic. I would prefer if you did not comment asking me to.

I love, trust, and respect New Paltz Animal Hospital from the front desk to the doctors. Im never kept waiting long even during the pandemic. The staff are all kind and professional. Dr. Soscia takes the time to fully explain everything. She is passionate about caring for our fur babies and it shows. I willingly drive 30 minutes instead of going to a more conveniently located veterinarian because I love this place.

The Vet and the technicians are all very professional and extremely nice. I took my 13 yr old 🐈 to New Paltz Animal hospital because he hadnt been eating and he had a growth near his rectum. They explained everything to us and said come back around an hour. We had errands to run and left. About 10 minutes later the Dr. Call me and said the growth was all through his rectum. She asked if we wanted to take him home for what little time he had left, or euthanize him. We chose to euthanize him; rather than make him suffer further. I asked if they could wait until I got back to the clinic, because I didnt want him to be alone. I wanted to surround him with the people who loved him. They did wait, and let us be in the room. Although the experience was painful, the staff were extremely sympathetic. I would never take my pets anywhere else

Too expensive go to their website and READ MY REVIEW YOU WILL UNDERSTAND AND I AM NOT THE ONLY ONE.They told me one price and I paid 3 times that amount and what they want for the next visit is the price of rent. I asked if I had to pay that all at one and they said YES.Likely I had an emergency credit card to use cuz I did not have bc 500 cash on me. So now I don’t have no emergency back up and Christmas is only a month and half awayWell Christmas is going to too be upsetting this year cuz the vet office pricesI am so pissed of. And the tried to add on more things on my bill. The should be ashamed of themselves.I do want a break down of her blood work test and any test they did . So I can take it with me too a place the works with you knowing that people don’t have money to just give away a place that understands that that’s the world is HARD. A place that understand and will work with your financial

If I could give less than one star I would. Dealing with this office and staff has been a nightmare. They do not care about your pets needs or yours. Cancelling us as clients while my dog was mid care with them, awaiting medication owed to me. All because the office manager, Bianca Briga, didnt like my comment as to why I wasnt informed when I made the appointment that my dogs exam would be held outside. Why does my dog have to be outside in cold February weather with a hurt leg??? He was limping and they didnt care. The staff is not compassionate at all. Thankfully we were planning to leave NPAH anyway, I love our new vet. Please ... do yourself a favor and use another vet.

This place is and always has been top notch. Been coming here for years with friend’s pets, and now my own dog, who recently had to have a foreign body surgery. They worked with me to try and avoid it, but eventually he needed it done, and they did an absolutely amazing job saving his life. They worked with me on cost, and included a lot of extras, including several days of post op care. Staff is super friendly and compassionate, doctors know what they’re doing and take the time to explain things. They even called numerous times after he came home to check him. Wouldn’t ever go anywhere else from now on, thank you New Paltz Animal hospital!

Brought my 15 year old sick cat here when no other animal hospital had appointments. They managed to squeeze in time for him to be seen. They all were very caring and knowledgeable and Im thankful they were able to treat my best buddy.

Our pets have been treated with excellent medical care, as well as kindness and compassion. EACH individual there, doctors, technicians and office staff are always professional, helpful and caring when communicating with me regarding any questions or concerns I might have. Took my 16 year old arthritic dachshund for acupuncture and Dr. B was kind and is helping us continue a low drug life for my little dog. After one session I’ve already seen more mobility and comfort from my dog with dr b!!!

Im new to the New Paltz area and recently decided to bring my 2 cats there. So far Im very happy with the practice, you can tell they truly love animals and will do everything they can for your fur babies. Id highly recommend them.

Ive been treated extremely well by New Paltz Animal Hospital. They have gotten me in promptly, treated my pet with great care and tenderness, and kept me very well informed of their findings as well as plans for treatment. I am totally pleased with the staff and service.

All of the docs here are wonderful. They provide caring, compassionate care and I trust them to be honest with me and not do the hard sell of unnecessary services.

Definitely the best pet experience Ive had for my cat. Everyone there is so nice, and its very clear they care most about the well being of your animals. I would absolutely recommend them to anyone.

Sadly disappointed in my experience here, the expense of caring for a pet goes without saying but added expense when it comes to taking them to the vet is unbelievable especially in this case. We were told it would be around $150.00 for the exam and blood work done well after all was said and done the price was well over $400 ,Now idk about most of you ,but my partner and I do not make enough money to be ok with handing over hundreds of dollars. Especially when you have a family to provide for, the most disturbing part was having to pay for medicine that was extremely over price. I would have been better off purchasing at the local pharmacy with a script for a less expensive price then what I was charged. Its very sad to me that people can be OK with doing business this way especially in small town where everyone wants to support small business. I will never make this mistake again you have certainly lost my business and respect .

The staff is always so welcoming and Dr.Uristis is the best!!!!! When our Diamond Dove passed away they were nice enough to send a card to us with everyone from the office who signed it! My 3 year old and 6 year old really appreciated it! Thanks again!!!!

My lil fur baby was hit by a truck and went to two ERs before being referred to ACS. Her injuries were extent and very involved. She has a 5hr surgery. The staff was in constant contact with us. (We live an hr half away, however, we were in CA when all of this happened) The surgeon made sure we understood everything and to care for our fur baby when we got her home. She is about to have her 2nd surgey on Monday and I have full confidence in the staff. Thank Yall for being compassionate and caring.

Reasonable pricing, but high level of care for my Maltese. Only downside is that with covid, they are extremely busy and its difficult to get an appt. I had to wait about 2weeks. But the care was worth it.

Im not even gonna rate this horrid place but sadly I cant display this without giving a star so be it. I brought my deceased rat in to be cremated the cost was $120 and when my pet finally arrived after the 2 week wait I went to pick up my pet. When I arrived they already knew what I was there for and just handed me the bag containing my animal and walked away never said anything remotely consoling nor have a nice day. I called them some time after that to see just how disgusting the prices were..let me tell you one thing the cost for the cat to be fixed wouldve been $400 I have a vet that I knew prior to them and they only wanted $178 for the same procedure however without the obnoxious costs and pointless extra testing for the animal that it didnt need. IF YOURE WILLING TO TRAVEL TO CAMPBELL HALL GO TO HAMPTONBURGH ANIMAL HOSPITAL!!!! New Paltz Animal Hospital has a 3.6 rating whereas hamptonburgh has a 4.7 rating. The standard visit for them only costs $46 and New Paltz well you already know theyll charge you a sneaky $75.

Like all the other reviews claim, this place will easily steal your money and will not think twice about its services provided. Do not take your animal there, they are terrible doctors and overcharge atleast 100% on the medicine they try to push on your animal. I had to buy medicine for my pet(wasnt even the proper medicine) and they over charged me by $30 dollars when i could have easily saved that money. I will never take my animal there again

This is the worst vet hospital in the free world. They killed two of my animals as a result of their lack of knowledge and greed. They are only interested in charging large amounts of money for tests and treatments that are unnecessary. I had a cat that had a panic attack in the car in a snow storm. I stopped in there to get her a shot so I could take her to the city. Although they saw all of my three animals and made a fortune off me they would not give me back the cat until they got twenty dollars from me. My dog had a life long illness and was treated at Animal Medical Center in the city. They lied and said they knew all about it and could treat her at their facility. Tens of thousands of dollars later when the dog collapsed and needed a shot to survive I was told I was too late no one would stay ten extra minutes to save her.

New Paltz Animal Hospital is very expensive, the staff is a bit rude and stand-offish, I will not be going back to them. I found a mobile clinic- Upstatespayandneuterservices.com that accomadates pet care needs/ vaccinations at more than a fraction of the cost that New Paltz Animal Clinic charges.

This hospital do not care about pets all they care about is money. They play games when your pet is sick. To try to strong arm you add a more money. I wouldnt bring my pet rock there

Have gone there for over 20 years have always got great care . All the staff and doctors are very compassionate and loving to all the pets that are seen everyday. Will be going there for a long time.

Dr. Ursetti is a gem. Our Ruby is 26 years old and I brought her in because Ruby is at the end of her life span and is having several debilitating medical issues. Rubys seizures were increasing even on medication and despite my desire to have Ruby live forever I didnt want her to be in pain. Dr. Ursetti spent a long time talking with my husband and I about Ruby, observing her behavior, checking her vitals, etc. At the end of our meeting she offered advice about supplements and digestive aids to help Rubys weight loss and to incorporate specific foods into her diet to interest Rubys eating. Dr. Ursetti determined that it wasnt Rubys time to go yet. I followed the doctors suggestion to blend Rubys food to make it easier for her to eat and incorporated the digestive aids she recommended and Ruby is doing better. So grateful for Dr. Ursettis care as well as her compassion and wisdom about exotics.

Bear sees Dr Bea for acupuncture and chiropractic treatment. It has significantly helped him as a senior dog. Dr Bea is wonderful! She is knowledgeable, open-minded, and so compassionate.

They are always late when we arrive on time and over book appointments. theyre price for medication is absurd and the staff never listens to what we want. do your self a favor and check other veterinarians in town and avoid this one unless you have more money than brains.

The best! The staff and doctors are compassionate and caring. Dr. Ursitti is so knowledgeable and helpful. Because of NPAH, my guinea pig survived an illness that is often deadly. I would recommend NPAH to everyone.

Best animal hospital with some of the best staff around. They fixed up my dog Atlas and gave him some of the best care we could have asked for.

I like the Hospital but I must admit they do way overcharge for medication. I needed this one quickly but will check online first in the future. Things are a bit wacky right now (of course) so I didnt question another med they prescribed that I didnt know about but I wish I had.

Outrageous price gouging. Brought my sons cat in to be spayed, was charged $186 for blood work and quoted nearly $500 for the procedure.Check other veterinarians in town and avoid this one unless you have more money than brains.

These people charged me for fecal tests for my dog at her checkup then when i brought them in they said they couldnt honor what i had ALREADY PAID for because it was after jan 1. this place is owned by a big corporation called Vetcor that is in the state of massachusetts and pretend to be a small town shop. shop local go to any other honest vet.

Caring staff that are beyond professional in their interactions with patients and owners.As a disabled Marine my cats are and have been my family for over 14 years. Today I had to take my Squeak a 10 pound Tuxedo cat in and it was the first time she had left the house in twelve years. Every member of staff and Dr. Soscia were sympathetic for me and Squeak. The Dr. gave me a detailed explanation of Squeaks diagnosis and logical steps for moving ahead. In addition she recognized my financial condition and gave me a discount for services. This clinic has been my go to place for the best animal care for over twenty years.

Our dog received compassionate and informed care from Dr Ersham which made a real difference in the quality of her life. Dr Ersham offers holistic options which for our dog included acupuncture, chiropractic, cold laser, and nutraceuticals (in addition to conventional veterinary care.) The office staff are warm and compassionate as well. We highly recommend this Vet. Our dog was never fearful here. Were grateful for the excellent care she received and for the warm support extended to us when it was time to help our sweet girl cross the rainbow bridge.

My dog got bit by a groundhog. I went to the vet and was given betadyne to swab on the cut. No prophylactic antibiotic was prescribed.Three days later my dogs mouth blew up. I called the vet at 9 am and was told that I would be called back. I called at 11, 1, 2:30 and was told how busy and it is covid times and etc. Around 3 pm I got a message that antibiotics were waiting for my dog at the clinic. I called back and said really insisted my dog needed to be seen and I thought he needed much more aggressive treatment care and pain relief. They informed me they would not be able to see him no matter how insistent I was to and come back after using the drugs if things hadnt righted. Subsequently I went to the vet emergency clinic in Kingston and was told that there was a serious abscess and the dog needed to be put out lanced, given direct injected antibiotic, anti-inflammatory, and pain killer and some more dramatic home treatment.However many great reviews might be read here hopefully this is one review that exposes a situation that was beyond unprofessional. Its a laundry list of horrendous human choices that could intentionally harm an animal.

I love this place! Dr Ursitti goes above and beyond for her patients. She has come in on her day off to check lab results personally and has also called to tell me results herself to make sure things are fully explained. One time my 7lb dog was clearly nervous on the exam table so she continued the exam sitting on the floor with me just to make my Yorkie-poo more comfortable. 🐶🐕👍👌

We travel to get to this vet even though our animals dont like car rides. We have been going for several years and the doctors and staff have been very kind and attentive.

Im new to the New Paltz area as a college student and I’m so happy to be able to go to this vet, Dr. Ursitti and the entire staff are wonderful people. They make me feel very comfortable and Id trust them with any animal. I was worried that I wouldn’t be able to find someone to take care of my two hamsters. Sadly one passed and one is currently in an ok but concerning state. But I honestly love going to this vet and am happy to see everyone when I do go even if it’s for a worrisome reason.I would highly recommend this place and wouldn’t want to go anywhere else honestly. Exotic and typical animals are treated here and everyone is very well knowledged and understanding. They are so understanding especially with the fact that I am a college student. They don’t do anything unnecessary and only wish to help. I’m blown away.I recommend them to my friends and tell them how great they are whenever I go.
