I did a 1 hour trail ride and it was great. The trail guide was wonderful, very friendly and knowledgeable. The horses were very calm and perfect for a nice peaceful trail ride through the woods.

Fantastic horseback riding experience, I highly recommend!Horses are well trained and accustomed to beginners. (Very helpful for me since I am not very familiar with riding horses.) Staff is patient, very good customer service. The trail you’ll go on is really adventurous, through the forest and hills on the property.I did the training session in addition to horseback riding. This was well worth it since you get to know the horse you’re riding first.

I had a wonderful ride this past weekend with Brittany as my guide- great conversation with beautiful views atop happy and healthy horses! You can tell how well they’re cared for and the property is gorgeous. I will definitely make a point to come back if I’m ever in the area again.

We fell in love with Beans, the dog, and Brittany the teacher is awesome! Had a great time on our trail ride. Went back yesterday and Laurie took us on another trail ride. I highly recommend the ranch. The horses are so gentle. My son is on the autism spectrum and being with these horses really makes him happy. Overall I am extremely impressed!

My kids and I had a great trail ride with Laurie. She was so patient and kind, taught us about the horses and she was truly amazing with each of my children. She helped positively motivate my child when needed, which as a mom I really appreciate. I also learned quite a bit about how to manage my horse. Communication with the ranch was simple and easy over text. Definitely stop by if you are in New Paltz. We also loved Midnight, the sweet and affectionate barn kitty.

My grandson has been recently taking lessons with Brittany on Toast. I’ve seen her be cruel to him when he not preforming well. I have seen her use horses that our not hers. She has yelled at my grandson when he is trying his best. The stalls are extremely dirty and smell like pneumonia. The waters are very muddy and have dead flies in it. The last straw was when she started gossiping to me about her other riders. I am absolutely petrified. She has also scammed us multiple times and promises to pay us back but nothing. I have came to the decision that we will no longer be riding here.

Very nice trail especially for new beginners. The woman who lead us was very friendly and knowledgeable and easy going! My son who’s 9 was able to manage the horse on his own especially with never riding before this.Directions to find the ranch was a little confusing but we had enough time to figure it out.Definitely a place I would recommend for beginners.

We had a wonderful time, riding Pal and Levi with Brittany as our guide. Very kind and helpful, with great conversation! Trail was great even for beginners. The horses had so much personality and all the animals there are very welcoming.

We had one of our best riding experiences ever with Krystina yesterday. She is a real class act, not just in terms of horsemanship but also in terms of customer service, people skills, and as an educator. Our goal was to spend an enjoyable afternoon and get as much growth in our riding skills as possible and she really delivered above and beyond on all fronts. The booking experience was smooth and easy due to Brittany’s prompt and accommodating communication. When we arrived, Krystina really took the time and effort to ask what we were interested in for our ride and she tailored the experience to our personal needs, wants, and comfort level. She was on the ball the whole time and my 10yo daughter and I felt both challenged (which was what we wanted) and safe. The beauty of the property and surroundings can’t be beat and the horses and tack were delightful also. It is clear that the owner, Brittany, and her staff really care for and about the horses straight from the heart. We can’t wait to return.

Can I rate this a negative one star? Not sure where to begin with this cluster$&@! Of a business.A distant location without one bit of signage-We Followed the directions and arrived. A Pepsi machine. Zero reception. Finally found someone who told us to wait and confirmed we were in the right place. The guides and horses didnt show up until 1.20pm. Joanne nicely asked my husband for his weight - with 250 being the max weight she nicely said she didnt have a large enough horse- so we accepted that and wanted a full refund -mind you there was NOTHING POSTED IN THE DESCRIPTION ABOUT MAX WEIGHT she sent a text to the owner ( Brittany Mercier) but then circled back to say that the owner said. it was ok. Begrudgingly and shaking her head she did it, but it was obvious by her expression and body language that she thought it was a bad idea. She motioned to us to sign waivers and walked into the stables to get the horse.I had a bad feeling but my husband didnt want to ruin the day and pushed ahead. She brought out the horse (Toast ) and a step stool for him to climb up. My husband got on the horse but Joanne said the saddle was too small- and instructed him to get off so she can change it?!! I believe she purposely placed a smaller saddle to deter my husband from riding at all. Hes 64! I had to watch as he dismounted and almost fell back with his right leg completely missing the step stool. What if the horse freaked out?!This activity can cause serious injury including death. No one should be allowed to operate anything like this without adequate safety measures in place including a staff of responsible and accommodating individuals. Super thankful I didnt end up spending the weekend. In the ER with my husband! Joanne said he was too scared and we didnt end up riding any horses at all and now the owner refuses to Issue a full refund?!! Being a business owner requires taking a loss especially when it is painfully obvious that this experience failed on behalf of the business. Extremely disappointed with Airbnb for not enforcing the client satisfaction expectation on experiences as it does with their stays.Update: The owners business is not listed on BBB or TripAdvisor. Going forward this will be a huge indicator of making any decisions when booking any activities.

This is 20 minutes from New Paltz, NY. Follow directions to a tee…..the red barn all the way on the end!We were 20 minutes early and there weren’t too many people there! We sat and watch a 3 year old taking lessons!Lori finally showed up on time and got us going! We rode Fiddle and Storm! It’s a wonderful trail through the woods! Lori was pleasant and personable! She gave us pointers on riding! We had a second day and it was cloudy and drizzling. But Lori was all set for another trail ride! It was fantastic. She gave us pointers on sitting the trot and how to handle the horse. We got to trot in just a few places but it was so much fun!!Thanks Lori, we’ll be back next year and we’ll request you again!!

As an adult beginner rider I was very nervous. Brittany really takes her time to explain everything and answer my questions. She goes at a pace that I’m comfortable with and to ensure you have the right technique. I really enjoy and look forward to my lessons.

Im a 71 year old woman with a granddaughter who loves horses. In order to share this experience with her, and having virtually no experience with riding, I bought a package of 10 lessons from Ridge Runner Ranch to prepare me for intermediate level trail rides. My instructor K... was fabulous. She listened to my needs, helped me to overcome my fears and grow confident on a horse. K... provided such a positive experience that I bought a second package of 10 lessons. After the first two of the second package of lessons, K... was fired by the owner. The owner offered to take over my instruction but on our first meeting was extremely offensive to me and belittled the progress K... and I had made together. I have no desire to work with a person who does not respect me so asked for a refund for the remaining 8 lessons. The owner refused to return my money. I do not normally write reviews but I found the owners behavior so stunningly offensive and unprofessional that I felt the need to warn potential patrons.
