New York Dog Spa - 25th Street is the most incredible place for my (dog) baby, Molly. It all starts with Audrey, the amazing manager, who is not only kind and loving to Molly but goes above and beyond to be sure that the Dog Spa is SO much more than a place to leave my dog - it is Mollys home away from home! Audrey and all of the staff and handlers are kind, knowledgeable, careful, fun and engaged, and the dogs they have Molly paired with are the perfect dogs to ensure that she has the best time and is safe. And they are always doing special activities with and giving so much TLC to the dogs! Because of this, I feel beyond comfortable having Molly there for doggy day care, as well as for boarding and grooming - it is the only place that I will take Molly for all of these services. And the best indication of what a fabulous place it is is how Molly runs to get there and, at times, wants to stay when I go to pick her up! Mollys excitement at seeing Audrey and the other staff when we come in the door warms my heart. I am so grateful for our New York Dog Spa family!!!

We chose to board our 6 month old puppy here in a desperate pinch after a sitter late cancelled. i should’ve known by the smell and appearance of the showroom when i walked in that the experience would be a nightmare. 1) they make you do a trial before boarding to make sure the dog is suitable, which is reasonable, except that they charge you a full $150 day pass for a maybe 1 hour test visit. 2) when we got home from the test we realized that they had taken off our dog’s collar and forgotten to put it back on, and made us come back to pick it up without offering an alternative (unnecessarily running across the city - every NYers favorite pastime). 3) when we picked our dog up from the overnight a few days later, her eyes were terribly goopy and she couldn’t run out of the store fast enough to diarrhea on the sidewalk (she had never had diarrhea until his point). after hundreds of dollars of subsequent vet visits, she was diagnosed with giardia AND pink eye after just a 2 night stay. no wonder they offer vet services in house - great business model! 4) we were also promised a report card that never came at the end of either of the two visits. 5) they also tell you to pack extra food servings in case your trip gets inadvertently extended, which is again reasonable, except that they don’t give you that food back at the end (and sneakily advertise on their site that they can charge you to feed dogs with food in-house, which in hindsight presumably comes from the extra food they steal from their customers through their misleading instructions).genuinely can’t say enough bad things about our experience here and going forward will avoid it like the plague, which apparently runs rampant there too…

I have brought my dog here a few times for a puppy kindergarten, with the Andrea art and program, which I highly recommend. The facilities are clean and spacious and air condition. The instructor seem to really care for the dogs. They also offer boarding, and I appreciate that they separate dogs based on size and temperament. My dog came for a 4 to 5 hour evaluation of the even gave her a little report card. It seems like the staff is very friendly and the services are extensive.

Our dog loves this place, and is always excited to go there. They provide a structured day for the dogs (separate them for feeding time, let them nap in the kennel to avoid overstimulation). It is a basement so dogs are inside all day, something to note, not uncommon for the city.

If we could give Jim and the team at NY Dog Spa 10 stars, we would! Our dog, Milo, is a rescue and can exhibit anxiety-related aggression, especially around men. Jim handled him with ease from day one, getting down to his level, and reading him like a book. Jim is patient, intuitive, and endlessly positive. His bedside manner is second only to his actual grooming skills - he’s undoubtedly given Milo the best cuts of his life! The team at NY Dog Spa is also incredibly friendly. They even threw in a birthday toy on the house during our most recent visit! The only recommendation we have is to consider an online scheduling system, since it can sometimes be hard to reach someone by phone (although they’re very responsive via email). We’re very grateful to have found a place willing to work with our finicky guy and help minimize the stress of the experience for him. Can’t recommend Jim and the team enough!

This is the worst dog boarding hotel spot in New York City. I dropped my 15 pound Havanese dog for a four week boarding and she came back less than 10 pounds. While I provided the food and she was there for 24/7 they could have notified me that she was losing weight. I would have course added food which I would’ve paid for. There is no excuse for somebody who took care of her not to notice that she was losing a tremendous amount of weight and was not in ill health she is three years old. upon picking her up I put a leash on her collar of which she slipped out and could have been run over by the New York city traffic. I paid $3700 for a period of four weeks and at the end when I picked her up they said “ We gave her a complementary bath” what an insult. Please look elsewhere as I have and there are other places that are actually not only better but would pay attention to your fur baby

I have used the 25th street location since my dog, Remi, was a puppy. I have never had any issues. They do a great job with her grooming, she’s never even had a scratch from the cutters. She has never been great with puppy daycare, but when I leave her there I know she’ll be well looked after. I have recommended this location to family and friends on multiple occasions and any who have ended up going to NY dog spa haven’t been disappointed.

Weve been sending our pup to NY Dog Spa for day care 2-3 times a week for the last 3 years and we cant recommend it enough! Audrey and the experienced team she has assembled here is the reason we continue to come despite several places much closer to us. The team is so professional and kind -- you can tell they all really love and care about the individual dogs with their photo updates throughout the week and also with their birthday and holiday celebrations for the dogs. The team is very thoughtful about how to place them in smaller playgroup rotations that fit your dog rather than just putting a high volume of all dogs together (something we experienced prior to Dog Spa). Our pup can be selective with dogs and humans and he is excited to go to Dog Spa week after week and he comes home happy and tired. This place is terrific and we feel grateful to have them!

Joe did a fabulous job with my cockapoo! He took his time which was very important to me, as my dog is easily scared. I can tell Joe is very detail oriented by how well he was fully groomed (ears, teeth, nails, paws, belly, etc). Another important aspect for me is safety, as I’ve unfortunately heard many experiences at a groomer where dogs were close to or able to escape. With the NYC Dog Spa I had nothing to worry about, as there are many sets of locked doors. I can’t wait to bring him back 😊

I’ve done both boarding and daycare and had good experiences with both. I’ve also had my dog groomed there as well and was pleased with the results. My dog takes medication, which they administer and that’s such a huge help as I work and she needs to take the med at a specific time every day. My dog gets so excited to go there and the staff is so sweet with her. It’s such a reassuring feeling when I drop her off because she is excited to be there and the staff are always excited to see her.

I hesitated to leave this bad review for weeks, because as a dog-care business owner I didn’t want to be petty. But I’ve now heard negative feedback about the Dog Spa from no less than ten people in the last month, so I feel this review is warranted to balance the fact that I used to refer to them across the board when my clients needed a great grooming or to get stimulation and exhaustion to combat separation anxiety. For one, they lied to a joint client (who was only using their services after I recommended them) to gain my personal information, so ethics are obviously in question. For another, when you walk in you are now NOT greeted by a host of apathetic employees who sullenly ask who/what you’re there for, and, in the case of daycare pick-ups, incorrectly leash your dog so that you have to adjust everything to avoid equipment malfunctions outdoors. Attention to detail has to be high in this business, lives are at stake. These have been my experiences. The experiences of others I have spoken to range from money wasted on puppy training packages that owners felt taught them nothing (I know too well the plight of the dog trainer whose instruction falls on deaf ears, but I’ve worked with these people after their failed classes and they’ve shown motivation and receptiveness, so the fault hasn’t been theirs) to unraveling of previously good behavior in their dogs who regularly attended daycare there. Several have told me that their dogs have developed aggressive tendencies, reverted to NOT being potty-trained (this is a common pitfall of daycare since dogs are often not taken out enough and going potty inside is tolerated and even promoted), and become nervous and neurotic.I don’t know what has changed, but it needs to change back. I can say for my part and for the part of several others that the manager is extremely rude, so perhaps that’s the culprit. She was overheard telling a client on the phone that she didn’t have time for their questions (maybe word that more diplomatically), and is the reason I won’t step foot inside any longer, because she was extremely devious about gaining information about my business. I supported the Dog Spa with my professional overflow and by recommending services I wasn’t able to provide for 15 years, but sadly I need to find another go-to dog care facility for the booming Chelsea pupulation, a fraction of which I’m honored to give my advice.

I used to visit this salon and get my Pomeranian groomed with Ink. Now she doesnt work there anymore and I got recommended by the front desk groomer named Alex.I showed the groomer my reference pictures (which were photos of my dog groomed previously with Ink). My dogs hair was cut absolutely in a horrible way. Nothing like the photos I showed AT ALL. It was extremely short and looked like a typical Instagram teddy bear cut. Every responsible Pomeranian owner knows that Poms shouldnt be cut too short, they can get alopecia. They are double-coated dogs and the groomer MUST know how to work with this kind of hair. I’ve been crying for several days already. My dog’s coat is completely RUINED. It’s uneven, it’s too short, it doesnt look professionally done at all.I sent photos of now and what I asked for to the salon on the same day and they didnt respond! Customer service is absent! I want to speak with the supervisor, I would like to know WHY they think its okay to ignore their clients concerns and WHY they think its okay for the groomer to do such a horrible job. You need to be blind not to see how bad it is! Why did you cut my dog’s coat in such a malicious way? Thats completely not what I asked for. Needless to say its harmful to her coat.STAY AWAY from this salon if youre a responsible Pom owner. I cant look at my dog without tears now. What did you do??

I had a fantastic experience getting my Chow groomed at NY Dog Spa & Hotel. I have had trouble with groomers in the past wanting to give my dog a true haircut, which is not appropriate for a double coated dog. Before I could even express my concerns to my groomer, Bradley, he told me he would not be doing any cutting outside of a sanitary trim and foot trimming. Bradley took extraordinary care of my chow and he came out soft, fully brushed out, and superbly clean. The price was also far more reasonable than many groomers I have tried in the city thus far. I am so thankful to Bradley for his wealth of knowledge and expertise. We will definitely be returning. When I first started bringing my dogs here, I asked if they needed us to call ahead before dropping the dogs off and they said no. For awhile, the dogs did daycare here occasionally and boarded several times with no known issues. Today, after bringing my dogs in for daycare for the first time in over a year, I was told I could not have them stay because there were too many dogs and in the notes from their last visit (from over a year ago), they nipped at a handler. First, I doubt this was true for both dogs. Second, this should have been brought to my attention the day it happened, when I could understand the situation or trigger better. So I was stuck unexpectedly with no pet care. Fortunately, My Pets Wellness was nearby so I took my dogs there. I was met with a warm welcome and communicated some of my dogs special needs and watched them play for a bit and left. The team there was friendly and warm, as they always are when I bring the dogs for grooming. When I picked up the pups I was told: They played so well; they did great! What a difference in energy between the two places, and perhaps the pups picked up on this.

I used New York dog spa and hotel for daycare for the first time in November 2016 for my dog Rex as I was travelling and the long hours suited my husbands work. However, the first day my husband went to collect Rex he wasnt in the play room. Not thinking too much into it he collected Rex and returned him the next day. Day two, when my husband went to collect Rex, again he wasnt in the playroom. He asked the staff about this and given he is too small for the big dog room downstairs theres only the room behind reception he can play in so he should be in there surely? They advised us Rex was in a kennel. Day three, Rex went back and I emailed them to check why he had been in the back both days - after all I am paying for him to play with other dogs and not just sit in a kennel arent I!?. New York dog spa responded and advised me that they rotate the dogs - fair enough at least he gets to chill when hes tired and then play some more right!? Later that day my husband went to collect him again (bear in mind my husband works long hours and didnt give them a collection time he just showed up at various times all week). Again he wasnt in the play room but in the back. By this point we are annoyed and wondering what the hell is happening to my dog, but at such short notice we couldnt change his daycare for the next day as his usual favourite Puppy Loft didnt open until 8am and we needed a 7am start. So our last day, day four we take him back again. Bingo, hes in the back when being collected. Frustrated, we swore he wouldnt go back there as we werent getting the service we were paying for, but we are all for giving people another chance, which we did last weekend, on Saturday 3rd December. When we dropped Rex off there was 1 dog in the playroom. After getting a feeling in my gut that it wasnt right, I thought I was overreacting. Later that evening around 7pm (no collection time given dont forget), i collected Rex. Guess where he was?? Not in the play room but in the back again. So I went to the window and had a look in the playroom. Only one dog again - looking pretty bored. I am fuming at this point and ask why my dog isnt in the room playing - oh hes in the back. When I ask why Im told when a dog has an accident they clear the dogs out to clean up. Hmm... Im pretty certain dogs always have accidents at daycare so do they really clear ALL the dogs out every single time theres an accident rather than just clean around them!? I was also told that theyre usually only in the back for about 30 minutes which makes me think we are being fed some lies somewhere. If theyre only ever in the back for 30 minutes then why on 5 different occasions have we not turned up to find Rex playing with other dogs in the room but instead in the back alone?!I was also advised that there were 78 dogs in daycare on Saturday, which I questioned how they all fitted in, given the play areas are only small but Im starting to wonder if the reason why Rex has constantly been in the back rather than playing is because they simply have too many dogs at once for them to handle? I have no idea and I will never know but one thing is for sure I will never be using them again. Always go with your gut feeling, if something feels wrong then it probably is and now I feel bad at putting him through that again. At least we can safely go back to his original daycare at puppy loft and know he is in complete safe hands and having fun and we get what we pay for - daycare, not just a cage for him to sit and get bored in. We can do that at home.

We were very appreciative for the way the looked after our requests for her care and for what we felt was special attention we got (after standing there for a little while, we came to realize they were treating ALL the owners and pets with the same enthusiasm!) Long story short, we will continue to use the New York Dog Spa / Hotel and I would recommend this business to anyone looking for the best care for their pets!

This place is the best!! They take such great care of the dogs and make you feel like family. The staff is amazingly warm and caring - they always greet us by name and send the cutest photo updates during daycare and overnight boarding. My dog absolutely loves it here - I wouldn’t bring her anywhere else!

I would not bring my Dog here they are totally unprofessional . I walked in today and there was about 4 women behind the counter, I asked them if the had a hoodie in a different size ? I asked this three times. I kinda yelled it the 3rd time as they were just all talking with each other paying no mind to customers at all. I can only imagine what they do to dogs. Their lack of concern and their attitude was so unprofessional i put down the bag of treats I was buying and walked out, I feel sorry for the owner of this place as I am sure they are paying good money to their employees just to watch them do nothing.

Great place for grooming. Daycare less so unless you use it regularly because the packages expire too soon. Most of the staff is just lovely.

The 25th location is just fantastic. Our dog loved it there and the staff were helpful, nice and obviously loved our dog.the 91st street location was the complete opposite. the staff was unknowledgeable and unhelpful. our dog emerged after a day there obviously upset and uncharacteristically distressed. we later learned that she had been placed in isolation for an extended period without food. UNACCEPTABLE. AVOID THE 91ST LOCATION AT ALL COSTS.

Message to all who is writing/reading reviews for this place! Please see review from Jim Gallien (11 month ago) and Louise Fry Bosserman (2 years ago): the exactly same reviews - word to word matching - from two different people! How? Makes me wonder if the day care workers posted those ( and all other positive reviews !!) themselves. Should I trust them now and let them care of my puppy... Not sure! Can owner of the place please response to this message with the explanations. Thank you

Dog got fleas from this place. Nyisha is clueless when it comes to customer service. When I asked to speak to store manager, she said he wasnt available. I gave her my phone number & asked to have him call me. She told me more than likely he will NOT call me back. She was right. No response at all.

Extremely unprofessional customer service. Such an unpleasant experience. Do not reccomend. Called to get general information in the morning, the lady answering the phone was extremely rude and unprofessional for no apparent reason. Please change your customer service personnel and I dont understand how such a critical part of a business is lacking. Will not rely on this place to take care of our pups.

We absolutely love Dog Spa! Our boys have been regulars here for years, and always have a great time. The staff are incredibly welcoming and friendly, and we know our dogs couldn’t be in better care. They pull to get there to play with all their friends - both human and pup! Cannot recommend this place, or the amazing staff, enough.

The staff are very courteous and attentive to your dogs needs. The space is clean but a bit on the small side. Which is understandable in New York City where space is a premium. My dog always is happy and exhausted when I pick him up. You cant beat that! Hes made a lot of friends and the staff make sure that all the dogs are well socialized and are having fun.
