J. Hood Wright Park is a Secret spot in Washington Heights with a fantastic view of the George Washington Bridge and New Jersey. Enjoy in the morning and evening as the sun goes down.
Good place for dogs. Never too packed and pretty big space with shade.
Nice park but be wary of the dog park, my dog went last week and was attacked by another females dog. Enter at your own risk.
Very nice park 👌 👏 my frechy ❤️ love it.
This dog park is far too small for the number of dogs that actually go there. This really leads to the question of cleanliness because the sand in the dog run is noticeably old and a little dirty. On the flip side, the park is fine nicer than it used to be and far more people go here now than they did ten years ago
Didnt have a dog....but a nice little neighborhood park.
I’ve been coming here for 3+ years. It has since changed from when I went as a kid. The wood chips and weak fences are gone. There is a water station for the pups. The only major problem is since 2 years ago, they have removed our trash cans and never replaced it. It’s extremely frustrating now that we only have a garbage bag tethered to the fence and volunteers are usually the ones who replace it and take it outside of the gate for the park to clean up. Every year the gravel should be changed and refilled but they neglect to do it every time. It’s a good park and everyone always engages with one another. The problem I would say is how it lacks shaded areas during the summer or how small and popular the park is. Usually on weekends or during the summer the run has like over 15 dogs and there usually always a fight. It isn’t separated big dog/ small dog areas so little munchkins get trampled sometimes.
I love this place, so clean, so quiet, I recommend to go and have a picnic. If you walk to the top of the park you can see a beautiful view of the Washington Bridge 🌉
An incredible park for many outdoor activities. There is a basketball section with 4 hoops. A wall-ball section i dont know the formal name to the game. A George Washington Bridge play ground for kids to enjoy. Known for its dog park and looped joggers pavement. Great chess master who play outside during warm weather and inside the community center during cool weather.Best part about this park is the overlook terrace of the George Washington Bridge for stunning pictures.Just a remarkable park and anyone is welcome!
TICK WARNING! I found four ticks attached to my hair when I arrived home today (June 29th, 2021). These bugs were probably on their way to crawl into my scalp.FYI, I was seated specifically on a bench near a tree, underneath the wooded area, INSIDE THE DOG PARK around 6:00 PM. I also briefly looped the park with the dog before leaving. Please check yourself and your pet, ticks are known to carry Lyme disease which heavily affects humans and these creatures are not good for your dogs either.
Love the top view they have, and am a big fan of the gym section they got next to the baseball field.
My Dog Cee Cee loves this park! The park is Dog friendly, Has an open area for dogs to play. However during the summer there’s not much shade & dust gets picked up quick from the dirt, same goes for mud.
The children’s play area has a sprinkler system for fun & hot days. It has chessboard tables. It has elevated sitting areas for the view overlooking the Hudson River & the GWB. The dog run is on the small side. It could enforce more on the poop clean up & garbage dog owners leave behind. It does get a bit dusty & muddy when it’s wet out. No good drainage here. It doesn’t have much shade. The fencing is a bit lower than I’d like. And it gets crowded at the end of the day & weekends.
Its not a bad dog park
I love this park but I dont like how nasty the bathroom area is and how people pee there knowing dogs pass through there and step on their dried pee and God forbid a kid falls on the floor on that area on their hands or face.
Grew up going to this park. First time I cut class was at this park. Hahaha good times. Wish the rec center was bigger though
Excellent spot to let your dog off their leash. Ive been here many times and loved it every time!
This is a great park huge park with a great dog run for ur dog to get plenty of exercises and then has a beautiful view of the George Washinton Bridge. Love this park
This is a fantastic dog park where some really nice people come to hang out with their dogs! Its my favorite form of stress relief to come by and hang out!
Great place to take andd walk your dog. Beautiful park.
I grew up coming to this park. I have very fond memories here and consider it one of the greatest places on earth.
Nice clean area
Great pets & people.
A good size dog park inside Inwood Park where dogs can have fun and owners can socialize. A water fountain is available for dogs to drink water.
Amazing view of GWB.
My favorite place to take my buddy. Everyone is very nice and careful. The dogs are all adorable.
Make separate areas for SMALL and LARGE dogs! Large dog owners very often are very irresponsible! Separate it in two areas
Lots of smoking in the park. Hit or miss days to avoid smelling marijuana. People think you want to smell what they smoke and sit next to you
My dog loves it here. It can get dusty. On a sunny day it gets hot fast
Beautifully NYC View
Nice park. Notuch lighting after dark
Great little dog park for the neighborhood. Id rather go to Fort Tryon dog park but when I need a more local spot, this is it.
Dogs love the freedom

Beautiful! Love being in Washighton heights. This park is one of the many beautiful places to visit in this great neighborhood
The dog run is small but usually busy for your fireball to mingle. Lighting needs improvement and the gravel surface is always questionable.
Wonderful local park with a good dog run.
Was actually excellent event also place to take your dog for good exercise
Washington heights!! I might find my wife there one day
Great place. Stunning views of the George Washington bridge and the New Jersey skyline in the distance.
I usually come here to take a break from work and talk to my friend.
