Recently went to a Golden Retrievers of New York meet up here. It was so lovely. Had the cutest dog fountain that was continuously running so it made me feel better letting my dog drink from it. Sure, it smelled like pee but that’s par for the course. Lots of seating and plenty of room for floofs to be floofing.
My dog and I love this place. We stop by in the morning before his play date and sometimes in the evening. Very clean - friendly crowd and safe - my dog is 24lbs - 1lb too big for the small dog run.
My dog loves here! Very clean and organized dog run!
Great park and was recently renovated and a decent size place for dogs to play. Trash cans and dog bags are provided as well as clear running water. It’s never been too crowded which is a plus.As this is a review for the park only, some issues are that careless owners don’t respect the dog door airlock and both can be opened at once and sometimes non dog owners will open the door incorrectly. Another issue is the drain for the little river can get clogged so someone needs to take the leaves out, you can just use a stick or just use a dog bag if you don’t want hands wet.
This dog run is very well done. The attention to detail for both the dog and human experience is greatly appreciated. Love the water element, which is super clever! Some dogs loved it to cool off in which was rather hilarious to watch. It really is exceptionally executed.
Pros: it’s clean, probably the cleanest dog run I’ve been to.Cons: tiny. I understand it’s not Brooklyn and space is hard, but it felt like a doggie daycare place where dogs can’t truly run wild.
Great spot w generally very well behaved dogs. We go to the large dog side and the running water stream is a great touch.
Very nice dog run with astro green covered hill and ground area. Its also well maintained and at a safe park in the city center. Many dogs come here at all hours. It has a big dog and small dog sections, both are covers with astro green with hilly elevation and running water channel for the dog to drink and splash around in.
What does a dog park need? Dogs! Lots and lots of dogs to socialize with. If you are hoping to take your fur baby for a little social interaction Jemmys dog park will not disappoint. All year long this park is packed! Newly renovated with beautiful artificial grass and flowing fountains River. Jemmys dog run is beautiful. There is a separate space for big and small dogs, very thoughtful.
Wonderful dog park. I appreciate how all the owners actually pay attention to their dogs here and the new park is clean and well maintained!
I think this run is perfect, but I just think that owner should be responsible on keeping track of their pets and not over run or hurting one another. Some owners are irresponsible on complying their responsibility towards their pets its upsetting.
What used to be the best dog park in the city has turned into one of the worst. Shocking redesign of the large dog park. The small dog park is better but there wasn’t much room to do worse. What is this monstrosity in the middle? It’s way too big and dangerous for dogs to play on. If anyone has ever been to bluff creek dog park in Playa Vista in LA. This is like a worse version of that. MUCH WORSE. The temporary dog park was still one of the best dog parks in the city.Whoever designed this place should be removed from their position. It’s shameful that this took over a year and millions of dollars to create.
I just love what they did with the place ! Last time I came in NYC, they were doing renovations and the result is just great ! I love to enjoy a coffee or a lunch looking at the dogs playing :-)
This park is very nice very well made, my dog wanted to play with the big dogs but he played with the tiny ones so cute!
Good place to take your pup. Generally pretty clean and the other visitors are respectful. My biggest issue is the water feature is fed from the big dog side, so smaller dogs get the run off. But, plenty of room to run around and play. At times, it does feel like you’re in a zoo with everyone watching you, but hey, it’s NYC!
Awesome place a few pansies, but dont bring your dog if youre a helicopter parent. Let dogs be dogs.
This review might be a bit odd, as I do not own a dog at the moment. I come here to watch the doggos run and play when feeling a bit down and this place is super uplifting!
I love this park. The dogs and their owners seem to be very patient and caring. Our bulldog puppy Bella loves the attention she gets at the run.My only problem is that it stinks. Although, Im pretty sure that all runs stink.
Great place to take your dog and sit and relax.
One of the best dog parks in the city... when its not too busy. Obviously not a place to let the dogs hit top speed, but there are other parks for that. Bags are provided, theres water, benches and its well lit in the darker winter months. I initially came across this park while browsing dog pack app, and made a few pack members by checking in here.
They did a beautiful job renovating this dog run!
People love to complain about everything here. It’s a great park, dogs love it. There’s a river that runs through it so they get all wet, but in good fun. The mountain does block your view if you’re sitting in some of the benches but dogs love to run up and over it, so doesn’t really matter. Great new park.
Easily the newest and nicest dog run I know of in NYC. Theres 2 separate sections for smaller and bigger dogs. Both have turf all across it, a sizeable mount for dogs to run up and down, fresh water channel built into the ground so dogs never have to go thirsty, trash cans for disposing of poop bags, benches for people to sit, and large umbrellas for hot or rainy days. Its a well thought out park that I find myself going the extra distance to for my Corgi, Mia, over the 2 other closer dog runs near me.
I really like taking the dogs I walk to this park. Enough space for a good run. There are wood logs for the 2 legged animals to sit. The dust that is kicked up at times can be a bit much and unfortunately there arent any water hoses or bowls accessible. However there are plenty of poop bags available.
Nice big dog park with gravel cover. It does get pretty dusty and muddy, but the pups love it and there are always a ton of other dogs there. Theres an area for smaller dogs but most people bring dogs of all sizes into the larger area. There also always seems to be a crowd of people just watching the dogs play from the fence, which can be a little much when youre trying to enter and exit, but they just seem to be there because they love dogs so its not so bad.
Beautifully done dog park and clean!
Really cute dog park! Very clean and Bruce had a blast!:)
Was visiting from GA. My dog enjoyed playing in the enclosed large area. All dogs were very friendly and came in all breeds and sizes. They continuesly spread shredded bark to avoid dogs slipping while playing. Everyone cleaned behind their pets. Has seating stomps and a bench if you just wanted to relax but you still were in the enclosure with your dog. Would highly recommend.
The ground is covered in rounded gravel - fine for the most part, but my smallish (20lb) dog doesnt like walking on it and tends to stick to the benches rather than run around. Avoid during midday, lots of dog walkers bringing in groups and it can get rowdy. Its a big run for the area, which is nice, and always well stocked with poop baggies!
Suzie Q always has a great time with her other 4 leged friends ❤!
Two separate dirt dog runs with one entrance. One for small dogs, the other for large dogs. No lighting at night makes it difficult to see what’s on the ground, but being located in Madison park it still feels like a safe area.
Nice spot to bring dogs/fur babies to play. There is a designated area for small dogs as well. The run is small but a decent size with great views of the flat iron building and surrounding Madison square park. Def recommend if you have a dog.
Love this park. There is a separation between small and big dogs. So if you have a puppy, the small dogs side is great for them to start socialization. The is water and bags tô pick up after your dog. Also sitting area and shades during sunny days
Great dog park, I have a 6lb chi, so its nice that they have a separate area for the little guys. I just wish that they provided water in the small dog area, its only in the big dog area as far as possible from the small dog area. That is my only complaint. The people and dogs are usually really pleasant!
Best dog run in the area, in my opinion. Separate dog run for smaller dogs. I also like the one in Stuyvesant park, which is quieter, but this one is closer to home, and in the more the picturesque Madison Square Park. Perfect for some doggie fun and then a quick burger at shake shack for us humans.
Great place to take your dog to socialize with other dogs and people around flatiron. Clean place with bags and Meg some nice people. I recommend this place! Be careful if you have small dogs. This guy let in 5 giant huskies and they were very aggressive, could be frightening for a small dog. Otherwise great spot!
Dog park is truly nice. Very spacious and has section for smaller dogs. This park is always patrolled by cops and they keep this place clean. Theres lots of places to sit around as well
Meh. Long wait for the reopening and replacement for the old gravel yard which had always been foul smelling. The new yard seems much smaller and dogs unable to stretch their legs. The trade off seems a downer. Also, the fake grass is a concern if it also become a stinkpot/ needs REGULAR hosing down. The mini-River is clever, but overall this seems designed for architects and not for dogs/owners. (The interim bark yard was WAY better.). Boo.
Dogs here are friendly, park looked nice but smells so bad .. my dog loves coming here but had rashes/ skin irritations every time we came to play. Do not recommend.
Good sized dog park for a city. Has small and large dog areas. Bags are always stocked. Owners could do a better job picking up after their dogs but park is well maintained.
I love this dog park for the variety of dogs I walk. It is fairly new and is kept up well so far. The dogs really seem to enjoy it!
A heartbreaking shame what they did in 2022 here. This was a wonderful run. Its has been completely ruined by the ridiculous new design which paves the run (bad for dogs legs) and divides the space into confining sections making it impossible to play fetch with larger dogs or active smaller dogs. It totally inhibits the dogs play space... and for what? Politician kickbacks that have no improvement for the New Yorkers (as with upcoming Penn Project nightmare/disaster).
The big dog side is one of the better dog runs in the city. The small dog side is kind of a joke, even though my dog is only 10lbs I take her to the big side so she has space to run and play. The complaint is legit about people inappropriately bringing young kids who chase the dogs and try to pet them all without understanding temperaments or body language. I will blatantly tell the parents my dog bites (its a lie she would never), but it keeps them from chasing her and trying to grab her and also keeps the parents more vigilant.
I had fun with my dog there
Jemmys Dog Run is a great little park to get the dogs out for a little bit of exercise and socializing. Dogs of a variety of sizes all played well together with all of the owners being very respectful and thoughtful
Small dog owners: please be careful! We came here with our chihuahua today and a woman came over and aggressively befriended our dog (pulled him close to her as though he was her own dog and was petting him while holding him). We thought it was harmless but hovered close by until we realised that she had come into the area without a dog, and was with a male who was outside of the park by the entrance. The male was watching the situation closely. Upon reflection it was clear that they were looking to take our dog. We knew something was wrong and immediately took our dog out of the park. The woman left swiftly after us with the male who was waiting outside of the park. It was an extremely rattling experience that I wouldn’t wish on anyone. Please be vigilant!
Dog run is well run and users (both dogs and people) are behaved. There is a separate area for small canines. The runs pebble surface is quite muddy after rains and snow melts, sadly. There is a plan to modify the surface here, but it lacks funding for now. In the meantime, Stuyvesant park in 15th Street has pavers and is cleaner.
Nice park at the end of Broadway. It has water and stone surface. Big dogs and small dogs have their own areas. No grass here. Open to the public.
This dog run has a large enclosed area for large dogs and a smaller separate area for smaller dogs, though small dogs’ owners frequently bring their dogs into the large-dog section. The ground has gravel covering it, and there are plentiful benches.
I used to love Madison Square Dog Park and make a point to trek there with my dogs. The other dog owners are nice and theres usually plenty of dogs to play with. Unfortunately, its slowly become overrun by parasites of the human variety - aka children. The last few times Ive been theres been children, both attended and unattended, running around harassing everyones dogs. I have an older dog who doesnt mind new people petting him suddenly, but I have a skittish rescue who is naturally terrified of this sort of behavior. Its obscenely difficult to force someone elses untrained, ill-mannered child into not bothering your dog, chasing your dog, grabbing your dog - especially if theres no parent around. Consider this a fair warning if youve got a dog who doesnt like strangers repeatedly grabbing them.
It has very nice dog park
Theres also a separate area for small dogs
Very nice playground for the dogs I love how there separate one for medium & big dogs as well one for small & tiny dogs....
The park would be nice except there are way too many owners who dont notice the signs of aggressive behavior in their dogs.
Makes the surrounding area smell like urine
Great area in the middle of the concrete jungle to walk your dogs. The small was a bit much but it had just rained. Water available as well as bags for clean up.
It is a good dog run and the people have been nice as well as their dogs lately. Like all dog parks you need to keep an eye out for your dog, not everyone is always watching their dog since they are addicted to their phones.
Use to bring my Chow dog there every day after school. My mom checked for us from a window while at work. How beautiful it looks. My dog was Queen of the park. ASPCA offices was near by. Soooooomnice
So great you can see the dogs running
The dogs are all so happy when they get there!! There are different separated places to big and small/medium dogs.
Very cute dog park in the middle of NYC! Very clean. A bit crowded on the weekend.
Anyone lost some keys on Jun 10th near the dog park area?
Old fashionl Park in NYC with one of the best old kind dog running place. My huge appreciation to everyone who is working there.
Its a decent sized dog park and also has a separate section for smaller dogs.Only thing is the fence is not so high, so not really safe for dogs that can jump really high and escape.
Best dog park in NYC.
Your dog will have fun here: plenty of dogs, large space. section for small dogs as well
I love this place. Highlights: always lots of dogs, good amount of seating and shade options, and lots of good food nearby!
Lots of friendly dogs. Gravel resists urine puddling. They have water bowls for you to use. Only thing is that its a bit small. Luckily the dogs can run a ton amongst themselves, but there are more open spaces for them to get to full speed.
This dog park is good. But some other area are no clean no healthy for the fur babies
A great place to bring your pet here! Tons of friends for them to make. 8)
New park is delicious 😌
Good boys and girls. 5/5 would pet them all
Other than some stupid people not realizing that this place is for dogs, not children, really great DOG park
Always has lots of dogs. Dogs get sorry though because of the dirt/gravel. Its especially dirty right after it rains.
Nice new park however people there are rude and dont use the gate properly welcome to ny
Convenient location and well maintained, I love taking my dog here on days she joins me at my office.
Overcrowded, with too many misbehaving dogs. Relatively a good size though and great location.
Nice spot to bring your dog(s) theyll really enjoy it.
My favorite dog park..many dogs can be in there at a time.
Excellent space to bring the dog.
So many breeds and theur trainers, its a pleasure
Lovely place to see the dog happily plays...
The best dog run Ive been to in NYC and many others agree.
Great place to sit and dog watch! Can’t wait until the remodel is complete. People watching in the park is equally entertaining!
Great place to bring your dog in midtown Manhattan
Great spot to bring your dog to socialize.
Friendly people, large space for bigger dogs, gross in rainy weather.
Great place to let your dog burn some energy. Reduced a star because the water wasnt running. Also wish they had extra poo bags. Otherwise great dog park!
My dogs favorite run in NYC. We come just about every day. It loses a star because sometimes the water hose gets holes in it and it takes days or weeks to get replaced. But otherwise, a nicely maintained dog run and a majority of the owners there are responsible and keep an eye out on their pets.
Its dusty and crowded. If your dog likes chaos then this is fun but mine is more low key. Do not bring food in or the beasts will descend upon you with great curiosity.
Nice little spot to bring your furry friend! Provided mess bags when I forgot to bring my own. The other dogs were really nice.
Good dog park. Fairly sizable, and separate sections for small and large dogs.
I appreciate seeing all the dogs play here!
Great place to let the furry friends go and play
Great place. The dogs are great, the people could be better.
Nicely designed park, great place to eat food ordered from one of the grab&go spots nearby. Sometimes they have free public events (music, dance lessons) #dogpark #eatoutside #summernights #sculptures
Keep under the shade of trees bordering the dog run while watching pups romp in the pebbled park. Bring your pup to Madison Square Park Shake Shack afterwards and treat him to a cool poochini treat.
It is open late really nice park.
Fun and pretty clean, considering.
My dog loved it here!🐕💕
Large run with friendly dogs and owners!
Free poop bags for your poochs poopy butts. 2 separate areas for small and large poopy butt pooches.
Yay
Bring your pet here to have fun
Friendly ppl and dogs everywhere!
Well kept and friendly folks here.
So many good dogs!
Loved it
Small and large dog runs!
Nice dog park in the city.
Great dog run!
They are good dogs.
Fun environment for the dogs
Cute dog park!
Nice place for dogs and owners.
Well kept dog run.
Fun times for all
Ok
Nice dog run
Good for dogs
Clean, safe
Very friendly
New dog run
Cute dogs!
Great place !
Dusty and smelly
A usual spot
Thanks jemmy
A relatively small space intended for dogs, which is probably not common in a metropolis like this and is therefore much appreciated. The space allows dogs to play, stretch and socialize. And we have seen how reluctant they are to abandon this oasis of theirs to return to everyday life, where greenery and friendships certainly do not abound.
Very fun dog park, its wonderful to see them play. I find the division of spaces for medium/large dogs and mini-sized dogs very useful....
Great idea.A great place for dog owners and dogs to let off steam. The dogs can have fun and you can meet new people.
For dog lovers, it is entertaining to see them enjoying themselves in the park like children.
Peaceful coexistence^^
Nice Park. Well placed for viewing the Flatiron Building or relaxing on a bench.
...the socialization of dogs certainly...and of owners perhaps..
Great place for the dogs to let off steam.
Green space, tranquility and relaxation in the hustle and bustle of the city.
The park stinks from far away
A little rough but pretty.
