This is definitely a 5-star park. Very spacious, especially for Manhattan, including an area for smaller pups. A gravel surface but very well cared for. Lots of benches for the people including tree wraparounds. As the gateway to Riverside Park, the views are also quite wonderful, especially as sunset approaches.

Nice and big dog run for the big dogs and a smaller run for the little ones. No water, so bring your own. Loose sand cover on ground. Whats great is the slatted benches built around the tree and along the fencing for humans to relax. Loads of trees and should be super shady in summer (when the leaves are back). Some of the fencing is only about 4 ft high which is a shame since squirrels love to play in the garden right next to the dog run. I have whippets and they can easily clear the fence without hesitation if they saw a squirrel. There isnt any other doggie play stuff or obstacles (no splash pool or hose) except a few old and dirty tennis balls. It was a satisfactory experience. 3 stars 🌟

Great place. Two separate parks, one for small dogs only, other is all welcome. Could get a little hectic during peak hours. Some owners not paying attention to their pups bullying others or to clean up after them so minus 1 star.Unfortunately the gravel/sand combo of this park isn’t great for my black pup’s curly fur. Would have to bathe him each time we come.

Love this dog run! And so does my little pup! Good size for both small and large dogs area. Owners - please have medium-small dogs that play rough in the large dogs run.

We happened upon this dog park while exploring the area. We had our pup with us so we decided to give it a try. Its a small but modest dog park with two sections, one for small dogs and one for large. It wasnt too crowded in the small dog area but the large dog area did seem like there were twice as many dogs. But I will say it seemed like most of the dogs got along and played and there were no major issues. Owners seemed to stay aware of their dogs and separated any dogs that may have gotten rough. We had a good time. Nice benches to sit on to enjoy the day.I liked that the park ground was laid with gravel. It actually prevented my dog from getting dirty or muddy (I noticed especially when we went to clean his feet). The dog parks around me are all grass and get muddy after it rains. I liked this type of material they used for the ground.

Besides the dog walkers that come in here and ruin it by sitting on their phones and chatting together while their dogs run amok, its pretty nice. If you do see a man w glasses and a baseball cap w a big reddish dog I wouldnt even go in. Hes super nasty and thinks he owns the place lol. His dog was out of control and kept stealing the toy I was playing w my dog and he told me to either leave or stop playing it LOL needless to say he should control his own dog and mind his business but its people like him that ruin it.

This a really nice dog park! Spacious and very accommodating. Im gonna go as far as to say this is the best dog park in all of New York City. Ive been to many and theres always an issue with maintenance or over crowding. Not at Riverside park. No issues, it was more than a pleasnat experience.

Great dog run. Beautiful views for humans, dusty but soft and large area for dogs. Separate area for small dogs. Many benches for people. A water spigot to fill dog bowls as needed. Tall trees provide some shade. Nice mix of Upper West siders with their poodle-mixes and purebred dogs. The occasional true mix breed. Overall, a nice place to visit for both people and especially for dogs.

Park is decent but many of the people who come here have a stick where it doesn’t belong. DO NOT BRING YOUR DOG HERE IF YOU DONT WANT THEM TO PLAY. Some owners are so touchy and stupid. Sit at home and coddle your dog if you don’t want itto play with others! Grow up.

This is a great place to take your dog if you live on UWS. It can get pretty chilly during the winter because its right off the water. But whenever the weather is nice, I walk the half mile to this park with my dog. The run is well maintained and a beautiful spot to watch the sunset. There is both a little dog run and a larger dog run. Obviously little dogs are allowed into bigger section but there is the option to go into the smaller area.

Its a nice and large dog run. The pipes are broken so most people tend to bring water for the dogs, who knows when theyll fix the piping system so we can make sure the babies dont over heat. Theres lots of shade and benches, theres also usually a few toys laying about for the dogs to play with

This large dog run is great for socializing and exercising your pups! They have a smaller partition for small dogs and usually there is a water hose access (not during freezing months).

Great size, two separate areas for small and large dogs. Very friendly community and plenty of benches to sit. Unfortunately, water is currently not available / working. Also the gravel is very dusty and my dog tends to swallow it when fetching balls.

Where the UWS dog crowd meets! This is a well maintained neighborhood dog run in Riverside Park that attracts a nice friendly crowd. The owners, for the most part are considerate of other dog owners and abide by the dog runs rules. There are separate areas for small and large dogs and a water faucet with running water. We use the facility often.

A great park with a good mix of dogs and dog lovers. It’s well maintained and nicely laid out for everyone to enjoy. Just remember to clean up after your pup as it’s easy to spread disease through waste.

Always a great place to bring your pooch, though you always need to be on the lookout for aggressive dogs and/or owners who are not watching their dogs behavior. I prefer the little dog run, which is safer for small dogs.

Large dog run on the upper west side! Our dog had a great time playing with the other dogs. Be ready to wipe your dog down afterwards as a lot of dust gets kicked up from the loose gravel.

Its best to go during weekday afternoons when the walkers are there to help maintain order. Evenings and weekends can be crowded and chaotic due to distracted humans ignoring their dogs behavior.

Average rundown dog run barely managed by the overburdened parks department. They’d rather take down the dog run and not have to deal with in any way.

Pros: Large dog run, a lot of great owners & dogs, a lot of benches, spare bags for poop and a good amount of garbage cans.Be aware: Like more NYC dog parks the vast majority of people are great but there are always a few that bring a dog in heat, have no idea on socialization or are super rude (this is like 5%) but since folks bring not neutered dogs into the park and some dogs are in heat its a good heads up.**If your dog has a high prey drive they can easily jump the fence to chase the squirrels - I frequently have to climb over or recall one of mine that hops the fence. **
