Yuruani Olguin Dog Training

Yuri is an amazing dog trainer. She has a 6th and 7th sense about my puppy. She seems to k ow just what he is thinking and even where in the process his alimentary canal is. Which is very helpful potty training a puppy. She can deconstruct any behavior to make is doable for my pup. And she even knows when to say “Every puppy has an off day.” So I don’t feel discouraged! Yuri is a big help to me with my puppy!!!

Yuri is absolutely amazing! We brought her in to help with our 1.5 year old mini Australian shepherd - after the first session she had taught him vital skills to help cope with his anxiousness around the doorbell by going to a particular spot and waiting calmly. We were so impressed with how quickly she was able to connect with our dog and really get him to listen. This was our first experience with an in home trainer and Yuri made it an amazing experience.Yuri made us feel comfortable and addressed all of our questions as she trained. She easily taught us how to implement the tricks like leave it, drop it and settle into our daily routine to help manage our dogs energy levels. After every session we felt confident that we could continue the training and practice from Yuris amazing instructions, and the additional homework sheets she emailed us were so helpful!We cannot recommend Yuri enough! You can tell within minutes that she truly is passionate about dogs and loves what she does. She was so sweet and patient, she really made us feel so comfortable! We plan on buying another package as soon as possible! If youre even considering booking Yuri - do it!

Yuri has the right stuff for dog training. We have a fairly hard headed Italian Greyhound and she approached him with calm resolution. Loaded us up with the way to train him well - it has been working since. Highly recommend.

We are first time dog owners and have a large, energetic puppy. We did our best through self training but needed some extra help. Yuruani Olguin Dog Training was incredibly helpful and exactly what we needed.Communication was quick and the team was accommodating with any scheduling changes that were needed, (with proper notice). We hosted the trainings in our apartment and within one session we made major strides. We learned that the majority of the training was actually for ourselves and in turn, that made training our puppy that much more effective.We learned new commands and new ways to approach training and walking with our puppy. He is a much better walker today and we couldnt be happier with Yuruanis services. Highly recommended.

I cant say enough great things about Yuruani Olguin Dog Training. My husband and I adopted an 8 week old puppy and never had a dog before. From the very beginning Yuruani was very responsive to my initial inquiries and was very patient answering all my questions. We signed up for four in- person training sessions initially and Sana was Bushees trainer. Sana was amazing. Patient with me as everything was so new to me, and explained things clearly. It was amazing how much Bushee responded to the training and Sana. It was so fun to see the progress. Sana was great about showing me what to do a few times, and then passing the torch to me to try. The improvement we saw in how Bushee responded to commands over the weeks of training was incredible. We added 2 additional trainings, which included leash training. I did not even know that what I was doing with leash walks was completely allowing Bushee to control our walks! Sana was great at showing me how to take control and course correct these behaviors quickly. She explained if we did not nip it now it would be much worse as Bushee gets older. After each session, Sana sent the lesson plan and reminders of how to reinforce what was learned that day. Full Covid safety protocols were in place, Sana wore her mask while in our home and we had our mask on as well, and we stayed apart through training sessions. Overall, I HIGHLY recommend and the in-person training was very impactful. UPDATE: Bushee is now 5 months, and I have reached out for two more trainings - further leash training and how to stop her from jumping/getting so excited when people visit.

Stephanie is the best: she knows both extensive techniques and idiosyncratic elements specific to each dog and parent. Kimono, and his family (Jesse and Karolina), are always better for the training sessions.

I was looking for a trainer to help with specific issues with my 4-year old wheaten terrier. I chose Yuruani after reading all the glowing reviews on Google (including one from a fellow wheaten owner), and I couldnt be happier. She is an amazing trainer who listened to what I needed and tailored the training to meet our needs. She also reviewed some prior training wed done and explained why she uses her methods. After 6 sessions, our pup is on her way to being better behaved, and we feel we have the tools to get her there. On top of that, shes professional, yet personable and caring. The greatest endorsement - my pup just adores her.

As a first-time dog owner and mother of a Golden Retrieved puppy Yuruani Olguin was wonderful and did an excellent job guiding me from potty training and house rules to obedience and walk on the lease with my very playful full-of-energy puppy. Yuruani changed our relationship with our dog in such a great way! We would not be where we are today without her guidance. Our rescue was showing aggressive tendencies which is sometimes only natural with dogs that are saved from the streets and shelters. Yuruanis easy and calm approach at training was exactly what we needed! Our Pug-Zu is now such a loving dog and responds to all her commands. There was nothing aggressive in the training at all and it worked! We could not be happier and recommend her to anyone who wonders if she would be the right trainer for their dog! We started working with Yuri right after picking up our 8 week old puppy. Shes now 14 weeks and we are delighted with her progress. Yuri works wonders! Yuri is absolutely amazing! We did 6 private lessons with her to train our 4 month old puppy and we couldn’t be happier. She taught our pup basic commands, leash manners, and complex commands. There is no one like Yuri (and Stephanie too) to help you train your dog. She is the most understanding, patient, responsive and kind trainer I have ever worked with. She taught my pup Teddy all the basics and then some. She truly takes the time to get to know you and your dog and I couldn’t recommend her more!

We have had the opportunity to work with Yuruani in both the class and private setting. We could not be happier with the training our dog has gotten. We worked with Sana for in-home training as she helped us with our Italian Greyhound puppy. We live in a one-bedroom apartment in Manhattan and had never had a puppy in the city before, so we were eager to get some guidance on how best to train our energetic, mischievous, and sometimes overwhelming new addition to the family.Sana immediately set our minds at ease and quickly helped us with training our puppy. She was calm, reassuring, direct, and extremely professional. Her lessons taught us how to understand the needs of our dog, how to respond, and how to resolve any distressing behavior with positive reinforcement and thoughtful communication. Sana was always available to answer questions via email or phone and Yuruani herself took several calls with us to address some of our concerns about our dogs behavior.We are better dog parents and our puppy has been happier and healtheir since weve worked with Sana and Yuruani. When you hire someone to train your dog, youre really hiring them to train YOU. And Yuri is amazing at this. She uses positive reinforcement training, which means using treats and affection to reward good behavior and not giving attention to or redirecting from unwanted behavior. As the dog gets the hang of each command, you gradually phase out the treats.We hired Yuri to help with basic obedience training for our new 1-year-old rescue pup - a terrier mix named Dolly - and we were super impressed from our very first session. Yuri provided clear instructions, got my husband and I very involved in the training, and gave us suggestions on how to increase the difficulty on our own time once Dolly mastered a skill. We are so impressed with the progress we were able to make with Dolly in 4 lessons. We literally get stopped on the street by other dog owners who say they wish their dogs walked on a leash as well as she does! To me, the biggest thing we got out of training with Yuri was not necessarily that Dolly now knows a bunch of commands - its that we have a framework for how to communicate with our dog, handle difficult behavior, and continue training on our own in the future.In the two months since our last training session with Yuri, weve been able to continue training on our own - tricks like roll over, high five, wave, and jumping into her carrier bag, plus obedience work on things like heel and off-leash walking.We never would have been able to make this kind of progress on our own without the fundamental framework Yuri taught us. We’ve used Yuri for private sessions with our 3 year old Wheaten terrier Barkley, and used her again for a private session as well as puppy classes for our new Wheaten puppy Maple. Yuri is fantastic to work with. She’s so patient, a calming presence, uses positive reinforcement exclusively, and is willing to explain techniques different ways until you “get it”. She really listens, to understand your unique living situation and challenges, and customizes her lesson plans for you. Her goal is not to do all the work for you, but for you as the puppy parent to understand how to train your dog and build that lifelong bond. She keeps you accountable by giving “homework” in order to set your pup up for success. She even helped us figure out a crating/feeding/watering schedule for Maple to help with potty training and preventing separation anxiety, and has tweaked the schedule as she grows. Maple is only 4 months old and is doing SO well with her commands and adjustment already! Of course she isn’t perfect yet, and potty training is still a work in progress, but we’re extremely proud of her progress and confident that it will continue. We’d highly recommend Yuruani in a heartbeat, for pups young and old. We love that she has offered us free email support for life, and look forward to using her again as we need help with specific situations. Thank you Yuri!!

We have done both a puppy class and personalized training for our puppy. The class and training sessions were both excellent. Every session was organized, helpful, and ultimately very effective at helping our puppy learn a variety of skills. Both Yuruani and our individual trainer were very responsive to emails and texts, responding very quickly to questions. I highly recommend both the sessions and class.

Yuri is an absolutely amazing trainer and was a magician with our 2 month old Australian Shepherd. If you are considering a trainer, Yuri is definitely the way to go. Yuri provided wonderful training suggestions in helping our 8 month old puppy with his loose leash walking. She broke down the process into simple steps that we could practice indoors first, with concepts and rules that Piko very easily followed and understood. We have three dogs and have worked with various trainers over the years but Yuris style, personality and professionalism took the cake. She also wasnt watching the clock waiting for the second our session ended to leave- she was very generous with her time and went above and beyond.

My wife and I hired Yuri to train our goldendoodle puppy Ellie. We purchased the private full course package and couldnt be happier with the results. Despite having a very limited attention span, our puppy learned sit, down, touch, come, drop, leave it and a home command among others. Yuri was also always available to answer all our questions about Ellies puppy quirks and provide extremely helpful tips. Yuri also helped us establish a schedule for Ellie, which aided with house breaking. Ellie adored Yuri and we humans found her to be a pleasure to work with as well! Yuri is absolutely the best! She has worked with us and our Wire Fox Terrier - Juno since he was 6 months old, who at the time was an unruly puppy. I had 6 sessions with Yuri for a senior dog Ive been fostering - his conditions definitely make him a special case, and Yuri was so patient with him, helping me to do the same. Our sessions helped Laddie gain confidence, and also contributed to our bond which has helped him make great strides between each lesson.Yuri always shared helpful notes and videos after our sessions and great reminders before our next sessions and had quick replies for any questions I sent in between.And best of all - Laddie loved her!

Yuruani is a LIFE SAVER!We adopted a 2 year old dog and were completely lost until our dog walkers suggested we speak to her about dog training.We had very specific goals for our little one and from the moment we met with Yuruani, we knew we would like to go on with the training. She is very flexible, extremely knowledgeable, patient, loving and so much more!We decided to go for the 10 lesson plan which she organized with our goals in mind. We had sessions in a variety environments, starting at home and increased the level of difficulty by changing environment at a variety of public places including Grand Central, walks on the street, Central Park, etc. Yuruani always knew the right moment to advance the training without frustration, the right reward and each lesson was a success.We have learned so much with her and look forward to continue our training in 2015. Sana was super patient and helpful with us and our 2 year old rescue. We did the Full Course with her and thoroughly enjoyed our weekly sessions with her. Hands down 5 stars for Yuri!! As first time dog owners we didn’t really know where to start, or how to properly (crate)train our shiba inu pup Jackson. Yuri taught us all the tips and trics in a very calm, yet extremely effective manner. Our first lesson with her was when we had Jackson for only 1 day. Yuri helped tremendously with setting up a schedule to get him housetrained and taught us the basic obedience commands (which Jackson came to master fast).In addition, Yuri was very responsive to my (numerous) questions on how to train Jackson. I never had to wait longer than a couple hours to get a response via email. She truly helped us raising a grounded and friendly dog.Long story short: we highly recommend Yuri as dog trainer!!

We did 4 sessions with Sana and saw a huge difference in our dog’s behavior. We were having a very difficult time getting our dog to focus on us outdoors. He would also pull and sometimes bark at other dogs, which was becoming very stressful. With Sana’s patience and guidance, we were able to understand the reasons for this behavior and saw great results with the techniques she had us apply. We signed up for the premiere program back in October and I couldnt be happier with the results!Previously, Logan struggled with leash walking, greeting strangers, separation anxiety, grooming, and jumping on furniture when not invited. Hes a 1.5y old Goldendoodle and was a little obstinate/stubborn when Id ask him to do something which made things difficult.I didnt want to subject him to a choke/zap collar and wanted him to trust me if I asked him to do something to really keep a great bond between us. I had started with the positive training method when he was young, but at a certain point I just didnt know what would work for him anymore.I also had hoped that Logan could someday be a service dog; I struggle with anxiety and I wanted him to be able to help me at some point. The way things were going, that seemed very unlikely - I could barely control him on leash and he exhibited some anxious/nervous behaviors (barking, scratching the floor, whining).Since our 15 session program with Steph, Logans a whole new grown up doggo! Hes much more attentive to me and what I ask him - better listening skills and more relaxed when we meet strangers.Its enjoyable to take him for walks now and I actually look forward to bringing him places whereas previously I felt it was a huge burden.He can handle being away from me in another room and enjoys being in the living room in his bed more now than ever before, which is fantastic when we have people over!Steph was so patient, listened to my concerns each week, and sent me the lesson plans at the end of each session so I could practice with Logan on my own too! She was lovely to work with, made sure her treats didnt have anything Logan was allergic to in them, and genuinely cared about Logans progress!She gave me several tips on how to practice when she wasnt there, what harness I should be using, what treats work best; so many things I didnt previously think about that made such a huge difference!Note: Dog training is not an overnight process. I had no ridiculous expectations that things would happen after one session, and its an investment in your dog. They have to get to know the trainer and trust them, the same way they trust you. Thats the big reason I signed up for the full program, because I knew it would take several sessions and they priced them fairly compared to some of the other trainers in the area.My boyfriend was the most skeptical about the cost versus the outcome, but we saw improvement from Logan after just 4 sessions (2 weeks) and he couldnt believe it! Weve both been so happy with how well mannered Logan is now!I would absolutely recommend this training program to anyone looking to sharpen their dogs listening skills and reinforce good behavior/bonding with their pet. Steph was amazing to work with, had a very calm demeanor, and I enjoyed all of our sessions together!Huge thank you to Steph for helping us get Logan his Obedience diploma & one step closer to becoming a service dog!

We were booked with Sana who was very nice and empathetic to our dog. He has pretty bad fear of the city, and specifically things on wheels. We were looking for ways to help our dog who can try to run away from the things that scare him.She offered us tips and advice as well as some commands to help us keep our dog within his threshold.There really isn’t a quick fix for our dog; he needs time, consistency and love. However, Sana was able to reassure us that we were headed in the right direction and gave us a few more tools in our toolbox to utilize.

Yuri met Louie less than 24 hours after I brought him home. At 10 weeks she was ready, even if he wasnt. I have had several Standard Poodles and even more trainers. She is in a class of her own. LOUIE: Touch, Look, Sit, Stay, Down, Leave-it, Drop-it, Loose leash, Come, Place, Paw, High-five, and more. She taught it, he learned it.Questions, question, and more questions. I can ask them like any good 4 year old and she answered each one with the patience and wisdom of the consummate professional she is. Crate train this way; get rid of this carpet that way; Wee-wee pads here; Time-out over there; Feed this, dont feed that; No outside until these shots; Time to train outdoors; Socialization skills; and observe, observe, observe.End result? the most friendly, affectionate, well behaved puppy you ever saw. Yuruani helped me learn how to get some control over my very excitable and impulsive Frenchie named Gus. She is very patient, kind and knowledgeable. Gus loved our sessions with Yuruani. They were very productive, and Gus and I both learned a lot. Hes still a work in progress, but now I have the tools to help him along. I have no hesitation in recommending Yuruanis training services.

Sana was like a wizard with training our puppy! She helped with so many different things and made it simply and easy for us to learn. She was timely and pleasant but most of all knowledgeable. I highly recommend!

Yuri is a phenomenal dog trainer! I got a Shiba as a first time dog owner and wouldn’t have been able to do it without Yuri. I hired her from day one and my Shiba still consistently gets compliments from random strangers on being well behaved. Shibas are notorious for not having recall, but Yuri helped establish a solid one early on. I can now let my dog off-leash at the beach or during hikes and can totally trust his recall. She’s extremely patient and we learned a lot about communication and bonding with our dogs. I always recommend her to friends who just got their dogs or people who are struggling with training. She only uses positive reinforcement, and although it may take longer than adverse training methods to see results, you will realize that the results last much longer and you won’t ruin the trust between you and your dog.

I was looking for a trainer to help with specific issues I was facing with my 5-year old shitzu. Yuruani was really kind and professional. She was very carefully with our concerns and figured out the best training for my dog. The sessions were great, she was always very clear and patient explaining commands and exercises, which made me feel very confident with the training. With a few lessons we were able to see the results. She is amazing and we highly recommend!

Yuri is hands down the best! She was super patient with our new pup Snorri and taught him and, more importantly, us the best tips to succeed with training. Yuri was the best! We worked with her to train our 9 month old Maltese puppy Lily. We were amazed at how much Lily learned in one session. Yuri was patient, flexible, and firm. She skillfully managed the dynamics of my family of four in addition to Lily. In between sessions she made herself available for questions--her response was always quick and thorough. Yuri demonstrated training techniques and watched as each member of our family practiced them. She explained the theory behind training methods and answered all of our questions. Lily loved her and got so excited when she would arrive for training sessions. After our 4 training sessions Lily had a good set of skills and we had a better understanding about how to help Lily learn in a fun, safe way. We have would highly recommend Yuri and look forward to working with her again.

We had a great experience training with Yuri and highly recommend her. Our dog had a lot of anxiety, even just leaving the apartment to go into the hallway was stressful for our dog. We reached out to Yuri for help and she came through and then some! Yuri has a calm demeanor and very fact based approach to training and provides training worksheets with reminders so we can practice on our own. We saw results within a few weeks where the dog would come out of the apartment by using the steps and framework Yuri provided. Once the original goal was accomplished, we continued the training with Yuri to reduce barking when triggered by phones or doorbells, and redirecting the dog by teaching the dog to go to her bed and stay there. This has really helped our family and the dog get along better. Yuri was a lifesaver, she really helped us train our dog by reducing the negative behavior and focusing on the positive behavior.

I found Yuruani while doing a web search for dog trainers in nycI emailed her and she responded quickly and answered all of my questionsYuruani has come to my apartment a few times to train my puppy. Yuruani is always punctual, cheerful, and pleasant. Yuruani is thorough in her methods and explains everything clearly. My puppy is always excited to see her. I am VERY happy with Yuruanis work and the results she has had on my puppy
