So Five was sick for two weeks, I wasn’t sure what was wrong with him until he stopped eating. Once I took him to the ASPCA I saved his life from Kidney Stone and saved $9000. Now my Fiveio is doing great recovery back to his normal self.
We adopted Page on October 17 2024. She is so well behaved! We absolutely love Page and have spoiled her. And she deserves it fully. Thank you!!!
Great clean and organized place with very patient and knowledgeable staff that helped me with the adoption process of my tabby kitten. I’m so happy with my new family member
This place is top tier professional and their hospitality is friendly, its very clean, they have coffee tea and hot cocoa ready to be made, television to watch and a clean bathroom. And waiting area is top notch comfortable and peaceful. The nurses and doctors and the best! Even the receptionists ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I did leave my comments yesterday. I just had my Beloved Cat cremated this morning. You see, she’s been sick for quite a while and she has always been a house cat since we rescued her during Hurricane Irene. My family and I do not believe in vaccination since we are in to holistic medicine. Our beloved Cat got ill in July 2024. We called ASPCA in Port Washington, NY for help. First thing they asked……IS YOUR CAT VACCINATED? If not we cannot see it.Seriously?? What happened to Humanity??
I had a great experience working with the ASPCA to adopt my furry friend. I filled out an application on Thursday, was contacted for an interview on Saturday, spoke to the vet and was able to meet/pick him up by Monday. They did a really good job of understanding me and my particular wants/needs with a dog. While the dog I initially applied for wasn’t a good match, they were able to connect me with an incredible dog who fits my lifestyle perfectly. They did a really good job of preparing me to understand my dogs specific needs. They provided documentation on his medical history and supplied me with 2 weeks worth of toys, treats, and food. They checked in with me periodically after the adoption to continuously offer resources. I would definitely recommend going through ASPCA to adopt your new furry friend.
Some of the kindest and hardest working staff and volunteers are here. Animals in need of a good home get care from skilled veterinarians behavior specialists, and often loving fosters so that theyre ready to go into a forever home. Please consider adopting here first rather than buying from a pet store.Foster Fortune: as an option, think about fostering a cat or dog first! The process was wonderful- you get free training and all the essential supplies the animal needs. The other gets away from the business of a shelter, and you get to learn about each other. And... If youre lucky like me, youll find a lovely match, and a first shot at giving the animal a forever home. The sweet cat I adopted, despite the rough start in life she had, is the sweetest, snuggliest cat Ive ever met, and I believe thats in part to the kindness she experienced at ASPCA.Sharing a photo of another cutie that was in the window today. I wish I lived closer to volunteer here, truly a great place.Bonus: the entry is accessible, with a ramp inside on the left. I do recommend calling and getting on their newsletter, rather than just showing up.
I love the ASPCA. All staff are very friendly, helpful, and informative. I met my best friend Zora there. Thank you to the ASPCA for introducing me to Zora, and allowing me to take her home. She loves her new life🩷
Adopted our cat from this ASPCA & we had such a great experience . Cindy helped us through the entirety of the adoption process . Everyone was extremely friendly and helpful . I like that you basically get interviewed before seeing any animals and then they pair you with who they think is a good fit . This way is a lot less overwhelming for you and the animals. Aspca called us a few times after the adoption to check in and see how things were going which I appreciate . Thanks again to Cindy and everyone at ASPCA !
If I could give this place zero stars I would. I had a really bad experience with this place yesterday. My husband called to get information as we wanted to get a kitten for my daughter for her birthday as a surprise since we recently lost my mom and my daughter has been asking for a cat for years. After my husband spoke with someone over the phone 2 times, he was told that they had 1 kitten however he would need to come before the place closed at 5pm since we were both at work past that time. I reached out to my brother who is also a dog owner who wanted to get the kitten for my daughter. My brother showed up shared the information had the ID and the deposit to adopt and wasturned away at the door. The first thing he was told was that it was 4pm and only 2 workers were present. Then he was told that the kitten was no longer available. My brother shared that they were rude to him and very nasty. When I called back I was given the run around as well. I was told by another person that the kitten was available so I asked why my brother couldn’t get the cat then I was told that I would have to come in on a different day when the website clearly states that you can go in between certain times and certain days to adopt which was done. This place has truly made the experience horrible for me and my family. You guys suck 😢*update*my husband went back a day later and had a much better experience. He was able to go and meet all the kittens and got information on each one until he picked the perfect one for our daughter and we gifted a black kitten that she named Jahseh after her favorite rapper. Thank for making our experience better the second time around.
Got these 2 little cuties at 2 different times. Black and white Peanut first and then came back for tiny little Pumpkin. Both times were a blast. The people there are SO nice. Made adopting a very nice experience. If i could, i would adopt every single cat lol They get along so well with the kitten we already had at home. Now our lil family is complete! Thank you ASPCA
These people are scam artists. They manipulate you into adopting animals with behavioral issues and don’t even disclose said issues. I was supposed to receive my adoption refund last month and still nothing. I called in and they gave me the run around saying they need to “speak to a manager”. Do not come here for any services and do not donate your money here. There are plenty of other LEGITIMATE shelters who also know the meaning of professionalism.
FRAUD!!! BE AWARE! They are never answering my emails, i am not able to cancel my subscription. They were charging me monthly even if I didnt ask for it, I wanted to make a one time donation... Please be aware of this scam!!! I have seen that other people have the same problems....
My family had adopted a dog from the ASPCA back in 2008. Her name was Faye, and the 14 years we had together were full of love and joy. Now, as an adult, I was ready to bring home a new family member. I put an application in for a dog named Earl, and after the second meet and greet, Earl was ready to come home. Earl has made himself at home, and hes already made so many positive changes in my life. The ASPCA are doing such great work. This is the start of a beautiful friendship.
Amazing, where do I start the hospitality in this facility was outstanding. The vets were very kind and informed me about my cat in a very optimistic and joyful way. They accommodate very well and care about pets. I recommend this place to all!
Theres NO WAY TO CONTACT ASPCA HOSPITAL to schedule an appointment over the phone ! On Monday July 30 2018 I called at 02:15 p.m. to schedule hospital appointment for my cat & it took me around 45 minutes to get through... somehow... I had to keep calling the same phone number about 8 times... over & over again in hope that someone will answer it... ? I had to wait patiently 30 minutes on the phone line... until someone did... actually answered it... to my surprise... (I almost gave up)... and politely did explained me that some days they are very busy and therfore asking public to be patient & just wait on the phone line until someone will find a moment to answer it...At least I was able to schedule an appointment at the end of a week, its better than nothing.I know that theyre always very busy, however theres got to be a better & friendlier system for people to be able to contact ASPCA Hospital to schedule an appointment.ASPCA Please DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT !! We need your help & we need to be able to contact YOU sooner than in one hour !Update, Starting from October 1 2019 MUST CALL ASPCA to schedule appointment for euthanasia !!! They DONT accept anymore for euthanasia WITHOUT scheduled appointment over the phone !!!P.S. Euthanasia is FREE at the ASPCA !!!
I applied for adoption of a dog, and although the dog I was interested in was adopted, they took the time to find exactly the right animal for my home. They made sure what level of comfort I had with different types of dogs and I spoke to several different teams to ensure I was fully aware of the animal I was adopting. They took the time to have me speak to behavioral specialists and the vet being careful to answer every question we had. I will add pictures of Vanilla Bean as soon as she arrives later this week. This is a six month update...This adoption center truly cares for the animals they adopt out. I in retrospect greatly appreciate the effort placed in matching the animals with their proper forever homes. The ASPCA followed up several times and wanted additional pictures of these animals which they all formed close bonds with while they awaited adoption. We renamed Vanilla Bean to Bibi and she has seamlessly integrated herself into her new home. We chose to rescue a second dog, Chiquita. So now Bibi has a sister and they are inseparable. Cant thank the ASPCA enough and cant speak higher on behalf of their staff and care which they show their animals. I have posted a few more pics of Bibi with her new sister Chiquita.
They dont take walk-ins, and they dont take emergencies. My dog was savagely attacked by a pit bull and they turned us away. Thankfully I found help elsewhere.
Horrible. Too expensive. I went to adopt a cat today August 8th 2024 at 4.10. The little lady had Horrible body language an energy. The first thing she said was every cat am dog is 150. She didnt say hi she didnt smile. From me knowing people, I dont think a animal would be safe with her behind closed doors. How you working around animals. Her body language was as If she didnt want me to adopt a pet as if I was interfering with her going home on time since I came after four. An she looks sick. ASPCA 92ND ST 1ST AVE
My experience with the ASPCA was an utter abomination. On Friday 12/16/2022 Milkshake was released to me as a fast-track foster. He was intended to be an adoption, but because of a potential ear surgery that he required, we had to foster until after the shelter vet performed the second surgery.Upon meeting the behavior team, they mentioned in passing that he had grabbed at a persons pant leg during a walk and also had canine leash reactivity. This did not disuade them from releasing him to me. They sent me home with food, toys, and helped lead him into our Lyft ride home. It did not disuade me from taking him as I have been adopting dogs with behavioral issues for decades and am a certified trainer specializing in behavior. As agreed, I returned with Milkshake to the shelter Sunday evening for his medical evaluation. I emailed prior to let them know that I did not believe a second surgery was necessary. With supervision and care the surgical site was no longer bleeding, but I would defer to the vet.Upon meeting with ASPCA personnel, I stated that unless it was absolutely medically necessary it was not in Milkshakes best interest to remain overnight. I was told he must stay. I asked that due to his known reactivity to please not walk him (Manhattan is too stimulating), and if they must, please use a head harness and allow him to carry a tennis ball. My feed back was disregarded.I was informed the following day that he was involved in an incident and the person required medical attention. How did this happen you ask? Sheer negligence. After two days of being managed by the Director of Foster Relations (Eileen Hanavan), I was informed by the Senior Manager of Behavior (Adi Hovav) that Milkshake would be humanely euthanized due to the lack of warning signals and the severity of the incident. Lets examine this for a moment:1. The shelter readily released a dog that had already exhibited canine and human reactivity to me on Friday.2. The shelter allowed the leash reactive dog to be walked by an experienced handler (volunteer) on a busy Manhattan street.3. I was told that the dog was being walked on the left side of the handler, but yet had enough freedom that he was able to cross in front and attack a person on the right.4. The shelter disregarded my feedback regarding proper safety and handling of the dog5. The dog had not displayed aggressive tendancies during his first few weeks in the shelter. This behavior surfaced after neuter surgery. It is not uncommon for a dog to display what are often temporary reactive tendencies soon after a neuter.6. The ASPCA was not open to discussing potential alternatives to euthanasia (e.g.; meds, rescues that specialize in behavioral issues, etc.) to allow the dog to decompress and potentially be rehabilitated. My heart goes out to the individual that sustained injury. It is a horrific, traumatic incident that was completely avoidable. My heart breaks for Milkshake who paid the ultimate price for human negligence and error.I fully recognize that we can not allow dogs to pose a danger to society. I also know first hand, that many of these dogs can be worked with and rehabilitated to become good canine citizens. Have we learned nothing from the Bad Newz Kennel/Michael Vick debacle? My assumption is that euthanization was the only option the ASPCA considered because of potential litigation from the victim. Euthanizing the animal just looks better in court.Any way you look at it, the ASPCA made grave errors in judgement. If the dog was deemed dangerous enough to euthanize due to unpredictability, why was he being walked on a front clip harness (no control if his head) after already lunging at someone days prior? What humans are being held accountable for this? Any? Milkshake died in vain, alone, and was then carted to the dump. RIP sweet boy. You mattered and I will never forget you!
If I can give this place a zero stars I would, first the young lady with the braids and half shaved head is rude. I tried to get appointment for my pet who very much sick and breathing good not good, hasnt used the bathroom all night they had on hold to the point that all the appointments were taken up. by asking all the question they kept asking thorough the customer rep. then they tell me all the appointments are gone, but they kept putting me on hold and asking a million in one questions for almost 30 mins, so I guess I cant get an appointment after all that time. then I asked them if they at least put me in for tomorrow that told me to call tomorrow and go through this again for them to turn me away. also Im low income very low in come they try to give a list to another vet that may cost $$$$$$$$$$$$. they need a better system and this way of doing things sucks. and people like me who low income who cant afford Reg Vet care what do we suppose to do and they also took away the low cost VetTruck In Manhattan but they have in Clinton Hills in Brooklyn where the people over are not low in come. And if you were to try to go in the area they also turn you away as well because you dont live in that borough or zip code. so the hell you suppose to go ASPC.Thank ASPCA
I had a fantastic adoption experience today at ASPCA. We came in looking to adopt a cat and bring them home with us same day. I was very anxious not knowing what to expect. We got there and were given a questionnaire and set up with our matchmaker, Daniel. He asked a few follow up questions and said he had a few options that fit my preferences. He showed us to the most adorable bonded pair set of boy kittens that we immediately connected with. I saw one more cat and knew the first pair were the ones. We were given enough food for weeks, personalized collars and vouchers for emergency vet care. Daniel really understands the animals in their care and genuinely wants to see them go to fitting homes. He was so knowledgeable and I felt completely confident going home with my 2 kittens after him walking me through all the resources the ASPCA offers to their adopters. I would HIGHLY recommend this organization and Daniel in particular. Thankful to have people like these in the community.UPDATE: I’ve had my boys for two years now and I can’t imagine life without them. I’m so glad I walked into ASPCA two years ago today!
Had an amazing experience , all the staffs are very kind, and handled everything proffesionally but also supportive and kindness!! ..Unfortunately … I had to put my cat down … i loved her so much… but it was the best decision .. she does not have to suffer any longer! …. May her soul be in peace!! ❤️❤️❤️🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾🫶🏽🫶🏽🫶🏽..
I had a great time adopting my kitten at the ASPCA. Really felt like they were setting us up for a smooth transition and when I had questions in the first week they were very helpful. It was a little frustrating that adoptions were only during the weekday but once I was able to come in it went smoothly All in I’d say it took about an hour before I got to leave with her in tow. Many thanks to Stacy for all of her help!
Wonderful place. receptionist people super nice. they made hard moments more easy. Never change please. You are wonderful place
Adoption process was trash and I felt like they want to adopt the animals only to “certain” people and demographics. After my online invite to meet the dog I inquired about I show up as invited, the worker doesn’t listen and insists I fill out the documents again In person and insists they have no file for me even though she’s checks nothing. She returns, with backup to tell us the dog has restrictions and unavailable. So they knew I had children and pets via my online application and now that I’m here in person after the invite I’m told this??!!Of course none of this information is online on the profile. I’m encouraged to go to another shelter and wasn’t even allowed to look at the dog I came to see nor was I offered any other opportunities.I got none of the warmth and helpfulness others described when it comes to adoption, and it’s not my first time, I’ve come with others. It felt weird there and if you’re not from the rich demographic and the right complexion don’t come with high hopes.
A beautiful experience from beginning to end and the whole thing one week. Everyone I had to deal with and formed and knew their job and my cat. Then the process easy as possible for me and HoneyThunder. Whos name is now HoneyLew. Very happy and her new house already and she loves to be at the window.Blessings,Tree 🌳 & HoneyLew
The Place is very maintained, All staff are polite & well respected, my poodle really enjoyed the stay there, I was pleased as well. Highly recommended this place
This is Yohji. In the shelter he was better known as Civic but my wife and I decided to rename this guy. He is the most positive, nice, smart and friendly cat I ever had. He knew what the litter box looks like from day 1, never caused any trouble, he made our family 100 times happier!
The ASPCA SAVED MY DOGS LIFE!!!, I will forever and will always be so thankful and grateful, There is no amount of words that can express my feelings of how grateful i truly am. My dog had Pyometra and she had a couple hours left to live, She couldn’t walk, wouldn’t eat, loss of appetite, was twitching. We waited outside before they opened bright and earlier on monday and they accepted her, and did her surgery SAME DAY. Yall do not call. U go there in person . They saved my dogs life. THEY can save yours too. HAVE HOPE. Because i thought i lost my little girl BUT God and the ASPCA CAME THROUGH.
I’m extremely disappointed with the ASPCA’s appointment process. It seems nearly impossible to secure an appointment unless your pet is on the brink of death. Every time I call, I’m put on hold and bombarded with endless questions, which drags out the process so long that by the time they’re done, the appointments are gone. This has happened to me multiple times, and each time, I’m told to call back the next day and go through the same frustrating experience all over again. It’s a frustrating and inefficient system that needs serious improvement.
I adopted “spongey” now Mitzi. She is a beautiful 3yr old black lab. I am so so satisfied with this doggie. The help I received from Cindy was great. The process was easy and I felt like a million bucks walking out of there. It turns out we are a PERFECT fit. Great job in all you do ASPCA!!!
ASPCA 92nd Street gives the very best service you could possible want in veterinary care. From the desk to the Vet the treatment of my lil Suzi was exceptional. I wish I could give 100 stars.
We were trying to add a new addition to our family that had four paws. We tried our luck at ACC and were left frustrated and heartbroken two days in a row. We walked into ASPCA with no expectations. We were blown away at how friendly and loving they were. They welcomed us in and we were seen quickly. We filled out a survey to help match us with the perfect kitten for our family. We quickly fell in love with Green bean, now known as Pepper Corn. They gave us food, litter, a personalized collar, and even had a starter set for sale at a great price there as well. They were so helpful! They answered all our questions and before you know it we were home with our newest family addition. Thank you for your great service ❤️
I adopted my cat Eight a few months ago from there and couldn’t be happier. Let me see her in person , was very nice to talk to the people there and was quick and easy to adopt. I would totally adopt from them again.
I love aspca I got my dog from there the staff is super nice and so is the vet center it took about 2 hours which is fine the staff was super nice and they had so many great dogs such a great experience
Honestly, this is the best place were the health of your pet is a priority 💯 the prices are reasonable for low income people like me, all staff members are amazing they understand and listen to what your going true with your pet, they truly care, I strongly recommend it! Im more than thankful 🙏
I’m so happy with aspca ! I got my lovely Cherokee in 3 h , comparing to other places. We’ve been looking for our home pet companion in 3 months , and always been stuck with some paper work issues, even though we are average couple with good income , credit history , owners of apartment , no criminal records and so on. ASPCA made our experience smooth. Even gave a trial food for week and month of insurance. Having a pet from a rescue shelter is always a challenge, but we made it. You need to be patient, strategical, pet will not going to love you right away. They are stressed , wiu their past knowledge and memory, they don’t trust so easily. After 4 months of dedicated work ( talking , knowing, training, loving) she allowed us to scratch her belly , which is sign of trust, and comes to sit with us , and stop growling . I’m so happy with her, she is like a flower that develops and blooms, like every shelter pet , it needs a time an work. First months when I took her in my arms she was growing ,escaping , now she’s purring. Thank you so much ASPCA team , to give us such opportunity. i have recommended you to all of my friends
I just got my perfect, beautiful kitten yesterday! The process was quick and easy, and everyone was so nice and informative. Thank you ASPCA, for helping me find my dream kitten! Shes adjusting wonderfully, no doubt from the wonderful care and love they give all of the animals beforehand. Its an amazing place! I 101% recommend it, if you want to find someone to give a forever home!
I’ve been calling ASPCA everyday all 5 Burroughs to get help in where to make an appointment to get my cat spayed/neutered n I get no help I can’t keep her if she’s spaying. So sad because I found her bleeding, hurt and abused. I took care of her I like loved her and now I have to give her up because my landlord wants animals that are fixed and I can’t get any help so much for ASPCA 😡
Pet lovers, gr8t pet care. The staff is wonderful, professionals. Godsend, Dr.Jacobs, Dr.Shappard. My first visit, 1st.litter mom got sick after she gave birth, no hospital would take her, I had noooo monies, went to N.Y. ASPCA, was a road trip for Dora &I on the path 🤗 As it was for April, this day was the baddest snow storm, Ubered right thru it, early!!! With that last only $100, I offered up on that quest2save April. Started off the day b4 in NJ, smh, 2no avail 😠April had a rectum prolapse, would no one touch her but the ASPCA. It began with some type of rare worm infection. I believe I gave her too much ova the counter worm clear med. she strained her rectum out. She was on her death bed, ASPCA had me sign euthanize papers &I still begged them to save her life, voila she is doing fine. Thanx a bunch ASPCA, Im very much obliged....
Excellent facility. A+ professionalism. Everyone was courteous and respectful from the front door to the back. My baby is in excellent hands. Thank you for all the great work you all do. I will definitively be making more monetary contributions to this organization. 🙏
We have had 8 years(so far) of a wonderfully loving adoptee!!! The best girl ever!!! And quickly became an ESA/ADA DOG!!!She is now 15 and going strong! Thank G-d!
The wait till they call you in to see an animal is ridiculous. And make sure you should proof of address if not they wont help you. I called before I got there to inquire about a cat I drove all the way from Connecticut for them to tell me no
Got my dog there almost 4 years ago. Love her. Had a great adoption experience. They do a lot of follow up to make sure all is going well. They also do a great job at evaluating dogs behavior so you can find a dog that suits you.
Adopted our Littleman there He was originally brought in by a stranger with life threatening injuries to his front right leg. So they had two choices 1) Take the leg 2) euthanize him. They operated and we adopted him the moment we saw him.Aside from being brave, loving and smart - he is trained to use the toilet 🚽!!
Every time I come here, the staff is so compassionate. They do a thorough examination to find and treat the problem.
Found the most handsome great pitbull all white and he is the best . The process was fast and the interview was great ! Very thankful from us both . Much love❤️
We adopted Page (now Madoka Page) yesterday and we are in love with her. She is a lady through and through. Amber was super helpful and appreciate everything she and all those at the ASPCA do.
My lilly Adopted her from the adoption centre 96th street back in 2008 I still have her today love 💘 my furry baby i want to Adopt a puppy from at the adoption centre so please reach back out to me if possible Lily a grew up with a pitbull she raised a pit bull and he just recently passed so I would love for her to have another companion❤❤
Careful & concerned people looking out for the best for their cats & dogs. Dont hesitate to adopt from the ASPCA.
This place is the best they took care of my Jill she was sick and I didnt have money it was free they really know how to take care of you the only thing you cant do is drink or eat on-premises even though they have a soda machine and a vending machine but if you ever I need their help they are there for the public I would recommend this even to my worst enemy. even though it was free I gave them a money donation theyre really saved my dog Jill. They were kind and passionate
I adopted my beautiful senior here. They were so helpful in the whole adoption process that even after months of adopting him, they were still in contact to make sure everything was going well!
I cant tell you how much I am grateful for the emergency services I received for my baby Pooka. He needed emergency surgery twice due to bladder and kidney stones. He had severe blockage and could not pee. I almost lost him and I thought I would have to end his precious life due to my inability to pay for such surgeries. I cant tell you how devastating it felt to know that only thing standing in the way of saving his life was money or in my case at that moment the lack of it. I was told by a private vet that I could try to get an appointment for him at ASPCA hospital. It wasnt easy as they have so many people wanting to receive low or no cost help for their fur babies. My pooka was one of the lucky ones to receive medical care from the lovely team at ASPCA. What a gift to the community this place is . I am eternally grateful to everyone there and I will donate when my economic stability returns. Its definitely an organization youd want to pay it forward to.Thank you from Me and Pooka.
In 2006 I adopted a 6 mo. old Lab mix named Honey - who was renamed Caddy by me. I remember the staff being so lovely and they made the adoption process easy. Caddy was the light of my life for FOURTEEN incredible years!! Sadly, she passed August 23rd, and we are all heartbroken. I wanted to say Thank You for bringing such an amazing friend into my - and my familys - life, xoxo
I am so happy and pleased with the service at this ASPCA. The staff is friendly, and the veterinarian was very professional and caring. I’ll definitely recommend this location. 😇
Came here today to accompany my mom. Her 18 yr old who could no longer walk dog and didnt want to eat wasnt doing well and was scheduled to be put to sleep. The entire staff was so good to her and patient. They set up the room for him. They made sure he was comfortable. It was a great experience. This place is amazing. Thank you for being so kind and gracious to my mom.
We adopted Page on October 17,2024 and she has been the best little girl.
Dog bless the staff for taking care of my fur baby smokey. Smokey had a ear hematoma and doing better after Doctor Tony An took care of smoke. Doctor An, ever made a follow up call on a Saturday which to me speaks volumes in my pups care. The ASPCA IS HANDS DOWN THE BEST PLACE ON EARTH.
The Doctor was so helpful when I had to put my baby to sleep and they made me feel so good. Thank you for your help.
The staff at the kitten nursery is absolutely the best! I foster kittens for the ASPCA, and they are organized, run on time, are ready to answer any questions, and care so deeply about every single kitten that comes through the nursery. I can’t recommend the ASPCA highly enough! 😸
Never had a problem with them and they always ready to help if need be I gotten two kittens from them a year ago and this is them now
They are the best they are so caring and they help me so much. My name is Elliott Cardona. My cats name is Gussie. Gussie had a problem urinating and was blocked brought him in and they took good care of him. Thank you Dr. Riley and Dr. Gordon and staff you’re the best thank you god bless.
When I went to the adoption center I was mistreated like I was at a parole board. Ms Stacy was treating me that I did not want the dog. And where the dog I wanted was explained to me like a hostile dog. Which where not true by this one staff person. Only reason why I did not take the dog because when I am not there at work he would be to much to handle for my wife. And when we ask for a smaller dog it was not that much help from Stacey. So me and my wife had left. On the overall the trainer brought the dog out to us where great and answered all our questions. The question the trainer answered us totally the opposite from what Stacey explained to us. In eight months we would have a house for the dog where he would have more than enough space. And we would leave 100.00 dollars donation to the center. We decided not to give the donation because I was treated unfairly during the application process. I would not recommend someone to come to the center here on east 92nd st.
Amazing. Great professionals. Wonderful care. I have no words to thank ASPCA
They are very friendly, and have really decent prices for adopting cats/kittens. I really love their approach in making sure that all animals find good homes, and really love the fact that older animals are discounted to make sure that they are loved too. I actually adopted a 10 year old cat going on two years ago from them, and I really love and appreciate her. Senior Animals need love too! Thanks!
Took very long and small waiting area. Service was excellent and staff was very friendly
We are in Manhattan NY. Our dog needs surgery and they are going to help us. The whole family is grateful. Thank again ASPCA. Adoption Center.
The staff is so nice here and kind! I was able to adopt a sweet kitten here.
This place is God sent. I live in Queens and had to bring my bulldog in the back seat of my car with a catheter from another vet. I chose the ASPCA because Mac needed surgery that I just couldnt afford as I am disabled. They not only took us in after hours (thanks to the nurses) which is not in thier policy to do so after 4pm, but they also payed for the majority of the surgery ($1100) I came out of pocket about $200. Dr Kline was amazing with him and performed a spectacular successful bladder surgery. They are precise on care instructions. I wish I knew the names of the nurses that helped us outside when we arrived, if they see this post I say thank you for your kindness, generosity, and understanding. We love you , our doggy angels :)
Im so grateful to the ASPCA for saving my Paris life she needed emergency surgery, and they helped her. They kept in touch with me after the surgery to let me know that everything went well and how everything was the next day because she had to stay overnight. Everyone was so nice, caring, and professional. THANK YOU
We walked in on adopt a cat day in the fall late in the day. The place is full of animal lover volunteers no one gave us a hard time so close to closing. There were not too many cats left so they offered us the same deal for a whole month. We got a wonderful kitten named Lucio. Xoxoxo
Helpful, I know the workers there were stressed out so I tried to be as friendly as possible. They really did appreciate my friendly attitude towards them.
Seems like a great hospital facility for pets but can not recommend if you are looking to adopt a cat or dog. Adoption is not their priority and they have no system for adoption. They only have adoption available on Fridays and Saturdays and their process is very very slow. They have one person who will take each individual back to see animals. Everyone else must wait in the waiting room. They say wait times can be an hour, this is optimistic, we waited over 2 hours. They don’t have a system to make appointments or even check in upon arrival. This process could be greatly enhanced but it would take commitment to focus on adoption.
Calling to get an appt for emergency services is a lengthy and tedious process, you will need to call many times over a few days or even a week and be on hold for 30 mins to an hour, but its worth it!If you are on SNAP/CA benefits and do not have the funds for expensive vet bills, ASPCA has you covered! I called because my cat had extreme dental pain and stopped eating normally. they saw him the same day, and then scheduled a dental surgery! I paid a very small fee for an extensive (and expensive, im sure) surgery and they treated my cat with love and support the whole way through. Down to every secretary, vet assistants, and the veterinarians themselves, I was treated with the most professionalism and courtesy that I wouldve expected from a private practice.I cant thank everyone at this hospital enough. I really appreciate everything ASPCA has done for my 15 year old cat. Now that the surgery is over he can live his golden years pain-free and in peace. Thank you so much.
I adopted my boy dante from here, the experience was efficient but careful and i am so grateful to have been able to rescue such a handsome cat 💖
I was hesitant to come here due to the mixed reviews, I decided to proceed anyway because I’ve been wanting a kitten for a while. My husband and I went as walk-ins and were called back within minutes. We were helped by Stacy and she was so kind and explained the whole adoption process to us. She showed us the kitten that was available and explained his background, we were able to take him home the same day. The place was very neat and efficient.
Sad they had to put my baby to sleep .. love my tiny and ASPCA did everything they could.
I adopted by best bud from ASPCA during the pandemic.... great process glad I went through ASPCA.... Bosco is my forever bestie...
My kitty Nala was there over night for an emergency procedure, the stuff were great and very helpful. She’s recovering greatly, so very thankful ASPCA 💕
After having adopted two cats five years ago in ASPCA I will never, ever, come back to this place. They euthanized a young and healthy dog I wanted to adopt, for VERY dubious reasons. I am in shock. I have had dogs my entire life and I know what I am speaking about. Cruelty. Animal Care Center is much more ethic if you compare. They would have never killed this dog.
I really dont know if ASPCA is helping Animals or just Destroying them. They have not proven to help Animals much. I needed to have a Surgical Procedure performed to my Baby and they werent available to perform it and they couldnt say WHEN or IF they were ever going to be available. Now thats unbelievable to me, a company that receives so much money in donations and yet theyre hardly ever able to help. Our Babies need Reliable Hospitals, Unselfish Vet, Truly Loving and Caring People to help them SURVIVE LIFES TRAUMAS!Im sad and angry at all these So-Called Veterinarians and all these Non-Profit Organizations that seem to be putting the Money into their own pockets, so sickening!!!
I had the WORST experience with an employee at the adoption center. I walked in and spoke to a Danielle about adopting. She was very rude and condecending, she came out to ask what I was looking for. I let her know I would prefer a kitten but was open. She said there were only very shy cats and I should come back another time, mind you it was only 1 oclock and no one was waiting. I said I was still interested, she then said she was busy and couldnt accomodate, made up all types of excuses of why I couldnt adopt. They should really rethink who they want speaking to the public.
I’m a disabled Veteran and I applied for 3 dogs at this location and was disqualified and application ARCHIVED, which basically means I’m basically flagged. Their email states I’m ARCHIVED because certain dogs have special need but the dogs I applied for do not have ANY special needs. So I’m wondering why I’m flagged(ARCHIVED)? Is it because I’m in an apartment or because I’m a Veteran who was prescribed a dog for my well being? This is ridiculous. I guess I have to purchase a dog. And the dogs are still available. SMH
Great service took a little bit longer than expected but the service was great & they were very careful with my pet...
Grateful for the team at this site. Everyone is very courteous, the consideration given to each client. They may not be ble to cater to everyones needs, but they show dedication to the ones they do. Kudos to the receptionist, extremely sweet ladies.
After having to put my best friend down, I never thought I would ever love another yet here I am totally in love with my new fur baby. Princess will never be replaced or forgotten yet he needs someone to love. Achilles chose me
If I were to give up any other dog, this would be the only place I would take my animal they are very nice and take good care of your animal.thanks again
I wasnt explained correctly about the different programs. They have for pet care.So they charged me the higher end.i went there for simple shots for kitten. I didnt even get the free exam.
I love fostering for ACC. They give me Lyft back home with my foster kittens and a lot of food that’s more than enough for a month
My pet just passed after his battle with cancer... the people at the aspca really helped during a difficult time
Wonderful experience. I get my kitten from ASPCA.
They were extremely compassionate considering my cats situation and my own financial situation. Im happy to report that Tribble was taken care of in a fashion that I wouldnt have dreamed of and shes still going strong 3 years after her ordeal. Thank you to the people at the aspca on 91st n York Avenue. My fur baby is a pain in the butt in a great way!
It was very pleasant. They took good care of my dog. I had him euthanized. The ladies were very helpful and kind. The room was prep for us. Thank you.
The air was full of indescribable mercy, love, care and kindness emotional experience towards animals from very sweet people and the amazing professional staff to reflect the best of everyone. ❤️🌹🐶
I adopted my kitten here in August 2023 and it was a great experience. The staff is friendly, the facility is clean, and the adoption went smoothly. My kitty has been a sweet and healthy boy since!
I found a Beautiful Chihuahua yesterday. He was sitting under the overpass on 1 of the busiest highways ever *BRUCKNER BLVD* I saw 3 young guys w/ their van pulled over, but they didnt know what to do. They told me someone hit the dog w/ a car and kept going..Smfh..So as traffic piled up I said Go Ahead put that lil baby in my car. I drove straight to the ASPCA & I told them the situation. I wanted to keep that lil guy soooo badly, but I didnt know what to do. I honestly wanna go back and get him, but I thought my husband would murder me. So I let him go....Anyways the ASPCA is ABSOLUTELY AMAZING. I feel so absolutely grateful knowing theres an Organization like them out there to take care of these sweet babies. They helped me & took care of him and honestly Im forever grateful for that whole staff
They listed the dog as small, and Im a single mom living in a studio apartment so it seemed like the perfect fit! Long story short it broke my heart I couldnt keep Biembe 💔 now all my applications are being denied, I tried reaching out to talk about it.
My cat was very sick and I feared the most. I immediately responded to the ASPCA in Brooklyn. After they checked him out, it was determined that he may need emergency surgery. The ASPCA set up an emergency appointment and I then reported to the NYC office. They confirmed my cat needed the surgery and he was critical. Tyrone is a family member and I would do anything to save him. My main concern was the cost since Im on disability with limited income. Surprise, the fees were within my budget and the help that the doctor and staff was amazing. Tyrone after surgery and 5 days later in in great health. Thanks to the ASPCA.
ASPCA is the best ever! I wish I had millions it would go to them! They do so much more that people dont know about! My sweet baby girl died suddenly, the devastation was so much to handle I lost a daughter not a dog, the ASPCA was amazing. They helped ME they literally helped me, I passed out when they took my baby from my arms, they where kind, patient understanding, they really cared that my baby died! They even wanted to pay for a cab ride back home! Everyone please donate please, they really do amazing things for animals and for humans! Please donate, you are saving 2 lives the animal and the human who cant live without there babies! PLEASE DONATE SAVE LIVES! DONATE DONATE DONATE without your donations they cant do the wonderfully work they do!
Absolutely love them they show they really care about not just your animal but you as well very kind friendly staff and will go above and beyond to make sure your petis healthy and you and your pet are 😊 and loved...
This aspca hospital killed my cat and I should of never brought him here
DO NOT GET YOUR PET SPAYED/NEUTERED HERE!! We adopted our kitten through the ACC and were eligible for free spay with ASPCA. I wish I would have just paid for the procedure at a better place. I have now been to the Vet hospital with my baby 3 times due to surgery complications and infection and I have spent close to $1,000 where if I had gone to another place would’ve paid $250 without her pain and suffering. So angry at myself and I hope I can save someone from watching their pet suffer as I have. Pay the money, do not let them suffer.
From where I live to where I have to go as far so I have to take about three trains when you get there is friendly and nice and they treat you very nice and they have so many animals that you want to take all of them I dropped the one and he was very handsome and I named him Christian he is very adorable and they were very good with you and patient so definitely I will going to drop another animal
My fur baby had many health issues and I gave him up for them to save him and then let me bring him back home to his brother and I to have our cuddle big brother home. Cant wait to move to adopt more family members and volunteer. So much love in that place God bless all workers and volunteer and furbies💓💓❤️
Got my cats here !! I love them soooo much !thank you guys!I love my Lindita and Alejandro ! Very professional environment!
I walked in. The lady was very nice asked for ID we gave the ID went upstairs in like five minutens went upstairs beautifull staff although I was crying, my cat had passed. I was going to cremate him. I filled out all the information. She got a room and we went into the room where I said my last goodbye they all said they were sorry for my loss and that is the best place to go for animal hospital or cremation or euthanasia thank you everyone at the ASPCA
This place is very modern. the service is superb and really would be unaffordable
Hands down, I will say that I appreciate the excellent support, care, and sliding pay scale there since pet care is soooo expensive, but what u dont pay in cash, u will definitely pay with your time... I spent 5 hours there ( *with an appointment). A few tips: Dont accept 1pm appointments (Drs take their lunch breaks from 1 pm to 2 pm), bring ur pets water, portable bowl, wee wee pads and a toy bc ur gonna be there forever... but they really do a great job there. The pace seems a little slow, but also, they do a lot of work behind the scenes, I would still recommend this place.
I have gone to the aspca today with a sick baby at the front desk i spoked to a lady who told me that i. I can’t be seen by a doctor because i don’t have an appointment today. When I came down to the ASPCA today, I did not know that I had to have an appointment when I call no one answers the phone then I taken access-a-ride there. I told the i have no where to go she told me that i can’t sit down inside of there. Basically, she was telling me she didn’t care what happens to me. That’s my fault not hers. Then she gave me a number and told me to call the number and this is your help and I had to go back home. My my baby is still in pain. I did not see a doctor and she wasn’t trying to help me, this is supposed to be customer service, what are you supposed to know when someone’s hurt you when they’re not. On my end y’all need to know how to have better phone services where people can answer the phone and talk to the human. I said here and you’re not seeing no one at this time on the phone . and this is a emergency on my for my fur baby.
Accompanied someone who sadly had to put their ill dog to sleep here. Was very impressed with the lovely, tranquil, and respectful setup and the sensitive, professional, generous staff.
The nurses was great & thank you, Boss is in Peace; thanks for the card ‼️😪🐾🐾 pls no comments ‼️🤷♀️ I miss you so much ‼️😞😢😩 I cant Stop thinking about you ‼️😞😣
I have the cutest and frisky kitten. Excellent staff and great animal care. You ask questions and they will give you answers 🤗 Its one of the best places to go if youre interested in adopting a pet.
Very professional love my dog Teri I adopted him from the 92nd street ASPCA.... someone brought him in with a broken leg. They fixed his leg with a pin plate and screw so amazing !!!
When you arrive there, you have to call a number on the door for someone to come out and talk to you. If you see an animal you like, an that animal is not spayed or neutered, you have to pay a fee. Most large dogs are $5.00 and some other charges. I dont understand if the shelters are overcrowded, why you are being charged? So unfair. I just dont bother anymore. Too much.
I went website the night before and website told me i was able to walk in adopting for cats and kittens only n waitlist for dogs. My sister just did walk-in adoption for her 2 kittens the week before i get there and the morning for the security to be rude and tell me well they changed it over night go to the shelter which i did still haven’t been contacted it almost been a month still no companion
Horrible experience. Applied to adopt got a call and then ghosted. I got my furry friend elsewhere but dont waste your time here. Youll wait months just to hear nothing. What a joke and yet they complain about over capacity
ASPCA is a first stop if you’re looking for a new best friend, volunteer work or a professional & knowledgeable staff. Rules have become a little more strict regarding the adoption of animals. But in general, the ASPCA is top-notch. They also accept donations of blankets, food, towels, toys, etc., but you’ll need to check the website for current needs.
Bad place they only have pitbull and wont tell you that till you wasted your whole day. they call themselves the Aspca last time I donate to the aspca they lost my respect
I was very disappointed to find out that as a Shelter Support volunteer I would have absolutely no contact with the animals.. my job would be to do dishes and clean carriers and other tasks of that nature. There are all sorts of protocols in place here so there is no guarantee that you will ever get to frolic with the fur babies at all. Whats the point of coming here if you ask me? Hard pass!
A beautiful staff and veterinarian who helped our family through one of the most difficult times. Our baby was sick and ready to have her pain end. She was so at ease and displayed her trust by the look and expression in her eyes. After twelve and a half years of love, compassion and loyalty to our family she needed to rest in a better place. Words cannot express the kindness your staff displayed. I was taken aback and tell all friends and family about how not to stereotype a city agency, surely you have broken the mold and we are forever grateful for your compassion in our time of need. May GOD bless you and all the humane work that you do.
Asking me to share experiences with my visit this is my home my home is welcome to any & all 2 legged,4 legged, wings or.. ETC. None judgemental
The staff here are deeply caring and purely amazing. Came here on a Saturday looking to adopt an older cat or dog. We were able to see all the animals in the shelter (most of which were adopted earlier in the day since they had an event). The whole process from start to end was quite seamless despite it being somewhat busy.I was able to interact with the cat I wanted to adopt, Sid. As a first time pet owner, I wasnt sure if we were the right fit. He had been interacting with people all day and was quite tired so I couldnt exactly gauge how well we would get along. He stayed in the corner and seemed to want to sleep for the most part. There was this fun little quiz I got to take to see what kind of cat would best suit me and Sid matched exactly that! I decided to adopt him that same day with the backup of staffs good words on what hes like usually. It was only a few papers, chat with the vet about medical history/questions, and that was most of it. All I had to do was pay for the pet carrier ($35) because there isnt a pet fee for older pet. I was also provided with a voucher for a first vet visit (which covers up to $200 and must be used in the first 2 weeks of adoption), pet food, and all necessary documents. I had renamed Sid to Ser Pounce and they provided me with the necessary tag as well. Overall, the process of adopting couldnt be easier! Its been over a month and I couldnt be more happier welcoming my new son into my life!!
What a magnificent ASPCA! Short wait, minimal paperwork and friendly staff. Clean and spacious for the animals. Good location.
We came in close to closing but everyone was extremely friendly and welcoming. There werent a lot of dogs available at the time, but the woman took her time to give us a tour of the facility and providing the personality of the dogs available and what they knew of their history. The facility was very clean and you can tell the staff really cares about the animals.
This review is for the adoption shelter at this location.I had the best experience- both of my animals were adopted as from this shelter. You could see that staff has done a lot of work with them- animals came well mannered, gentle, cuddly, you could see they had experienced a lot of love.
This is a kill center. They unnecessarily euthanize animals often. They even have a white board to list the animals theyre killing that day. It is in a multi-million dollar building in nyc. The staff are uncaring office workers who barely interact with the animals except for basic food and occasional short walks by voluteers in the loud, polluted city street outside. This is no place for animals. They dont allow the animals visitation by the general public and use covid as an excuse for severely isolating the animals. The animals are basically kept in a sterile jail, isolated and unloved. Volunteers that have done enough contact hours in the laundry are allowed short care visits with the animals. A few minutes at a time. You may think your donations are going to save animals but its actually paying for a fancy building and lots of office worker salaries- people who have no interest or care. It is not animal welfare focused. If they were really kind, theyd use the millions they have to transport the animals somewhere theyd have access to grass and adequate exercise. Theyd allow the public in to pet them, and theyd give them a lot more care, attention and freedom.I used to donate here too. My how my eyes have been opened.
Please donate your clean flat or fitted sheets, or clean bath/beach towels. It’s easy to drop off at the front door. The volunteers are so nice!
They provide adoption of cats and dogs. Some limited medical services are provided, however, not for free. I advise contacting them as they are making changes.
I had a great experience here. They do a great job with the animals and really care about them as well. They was helpful in everyway and did all the could to help me with my pet and now my pet is at her best health.
I am so greatful for the staff there, from the person at the front desk to the doctors, to the after care. They took care of Mister IMMEDIATELY!!!. Thank you for not turning me away. You guys are a BLESSING. Keep doing what you do.
I donate monthly, .....a very very SOFT spot for animals.
They were very kind. They helped find my little furry child. The helped me with Any questions I needed and provided. They were patient. They love and care for there animals They work very hard to find there animals home. They show loving qualities toward the people and animals. Everyone should go there to adopt a animalThey were also very clean and organized and if I was to adopt again I would.
Love all the kitties
The Adoption Counselor that I had was very attentative to me, and kind to the dog that I adopted.the place still smells horrible and the waiting in the rain got me a little frustrated, but it was all worth it getting to bring my new daughter home.
Highly recommend this adoption center to anyone looking for the first pet in their life. I adopted a cat from them recently, very professional and compassionate team that helps you out and follow up even after I took her home. Unfortunately she passed away because of pre-existing conditions but I think she was showered with love and care by the volunteers and foster parents at the shelter throughout. Thank you so much.
I love this place the doctor was so nice to my corgis Phoebe and Oakley. they were loved and taking care of. If I can give them beyond unlimited stars I would!! Doctor Olivia was a doll!! She is such a doctor doctor!! I do recommend this place if you want good service.
Fantastic experience here adopting my first cat
Given limited resources and so many animals to find homes for, or re-home, while under pandemic precautions - Im impressed at the level of service. Adopted a young cat and brought her home spayed, microchipped, current with vaccinations, all documents provided, a coupon for a complimentary vet visit, and given quality food that lasted a month. Every case is different, I know, but even if we got just half the services we received, Id be writing a five star review. Incredible service to the community.
I had an amazing experience here. The staff was tremendously helpful and was happy to answer all of my questions. I ended up adopting a dog and the process was great. It went smoothly. The place is very clean and organized which is great. Overall this place is amazing. You can tell the staffs care about their job and helping others.
I really love the ASPCA they are a wonderful organization. I have adopted from them years ago with a beautiful Kitty named JJ who I lost last month and they were very helpful in making arrangements to cremate him and they just took care of everything. I am happy to say that I came back and adopted 2 more kitties from the ASPCA and they have just been wonderful. They made the adoption so understanding and easy and with care Ive highly recommend you go to the ASPCA to adopt a pet.
I took my puppy yesterday because he kept throwing up, the front desk was really nice and helpful. I was denied the credit card but they helped me with financial and at the end I just paid the $85 for the exam. Really nice people and the doctor said to me dont ever think that you need to give your puppy up for adoption because you cant afford treatment, We are here to help That made me cry because I dont know what was wrong with my dog.
Nothing but a fundraising scam they do very little for any animals
Wonderful caring professional people. Took great care of my blue nose pit after he was attacked by a man welding a machete. He went threw 5 surgeries with some of the best doctors New York has to offer. Then Loki went threw 3 weeks rehabilitation with them. The ASPCA team video called us and let us know what was happening step by step... Amazing job amazing people....
Just adopted a pair of cats from this location and the staff was very helpful. They made recommendations to me based on my living situation and I went home with two new friends. It was a pleasant experience and the adoption fee was reasonable as well. What I liked most is that they insist on bonded pairs being adopted together and not separate. I would recommend coming here.
ASPCA, at 92 St, is the best place to adopt your next baby. The place is clean, the staff is super friendly, and the manage adoptions in the shortest period of any adoption places. I registered with four agencies which meant very lengthy questionnaire. I received programmed responses from each one; very cold and impersonal process. The A responded to my online application the same day. I had a choice of doing virtual or in person interviews. I would highly recommend going the in person route. Anyway, I went in for cat that I found in the data base. I ended up being adopted by two other cats and an hour I added two members to my family.
This place in the veterinary hospital area is morally unethical. Shame on them I brought my pet in for s small wound and they wanted a 1000 dollars to fix it. I spoke with their regular vets in both Virginia and Florida and they said for one bight wound it should be no more then 250. The vet was rude and obnoxious I was upset at the price and when I initially took my dog in they said no problem for clipping their nails. The doctor explained she was on my side but they may not have time to clip their nails. After telling me three times about how she was a licensed vet and couldnt guarantee my pets health I said please dont tell me that again, I heard you and I know. Only go here if you are seriously wealthy and want to put your dog in for a surgery they dont need, and cost you cant afford, because after all they are on your side, just like used car salesmen and crooked attorneys all on your side while taking your hard earned money. As a side note when I checked out I had already paid the whopping $85.00 exam fee, but the receptionist told me the bill with the exam fee. I said a little upset you already charged me for that, which she said dont talk to me like that. She had to make me wait and ask her manager. I found the receipt and hoped the less the competent and unorganized rude staff didnt over charge me. By the way Im going to write to the better business bureau and if you have to go here get. A second opinion get it in writing and dont believed their sales staff parading as vets. I am disgusted and two days before Christmas.
After our cat fell of the 5th floor we took him to the vet. And they had to amputate her leg cause the bone broke. They where very nice with our kitty and I recommend this place she healed rn and now she’s more better thanks she’s ever been.!
I lost my toy poodles Louie very suddenly after 13 joyous years. I did not think I could love again. Seriously if you have lost a pet you know the feeling. Covid made it impossible to meet cats in person and every single time I applied for one at any shelter, I was told a rescue was taking that cat. I had given up hope but then I spoke with Kim and the other counselors at ASPCA. They are busy but made time. One cat I wanted fell through, a timing issue and then I found my Tater, then Tatum. I fell in love at first sight. He looked like he might be a cat that needed time. Kim spoke with me, offered support resources and just took the time to get me ready. I met Tater and knew immediately he was for me. The counselor Michelle went over everything and made me incredibly comfortable. I really can’t praise this organization enough. They love the animals and do the best they can to find them good homes. I don’t think my story is unusual. I highly recommend. Covid makes things a little challenging be patient and kind because everyone is working hard for the animals.
We had the best experience! We adopted a healthy, loving cat. We even had a meeting with a behavioral specialist before we brought him home - the specialists advice made way for a very smooth transition. I cannot say enough nice things about the ASPCA. Highly recommended!
They were so awesome. Went to pick up my kitten whose name was Oscar but we changed it to rick; they engraved his tag with his new name as well as gave me extra scratcher post for my cat i already had at home. Everyone i spoke to was super kind and sweet. If i get anther animal i surely will be getting it from them.
It doesnt look like a ASPCA office, more corporate, but warmer and welcoming. Adopted my new purr baby, Charlotte (was Cody). Had a lot of assistance from start to finish as well as follow up calls. Yes, calls. They want to checkup and see how me and my purr baby was doing. Shes still acclimating to having a big sister and new human slave (if youre a cat owner you understand the reference). Took a week from start to finish. She comes vaccinated, nails clipped, instruction binder, Advantage flea/tick ointment and CHIPPED!!!!! Only had to pay for a hard carrier, $35. 💖
The staff was warm and welcoming. Very well run. Im so glad I got my kitten there.
Awesome as always...Kind of sad they reduced some of their pet medical services. Aside from that, its an amazing place. Adopted Charles a super sweet pitbull mix. Great service, lovely helpful staff. Staff is very caring for the animals and go above and beyond to ensure animals are matched well with a new family. I only adopt from ASPCA and have never ever regretted it.
My pet was treated with so much care years ago & was also given 2 operations that would have cost me a fortune had I not qualified for their free operation plan. I did raise $400 via GO FUND ME & donated it all to them. The doctors & staff were the most loving staff I had come across in a ASPCA center.
I submitted an application almost 2 weeks ago. Everytime Ive called Im met with an automated system directing me to the website for adoption. So I showed up in person and sat there for over an hour, and security didnt help at all except give me the website. When Im already there in person and already submitted an application. It was impossible to reach any actual human. How are these animals supposed to find loving homes if no one wants to be bothered to answer a human?
Ive been here several times. And I always appreciate the care they give the animals, as well as the understanding they have for the adopters as well. They care that there is a good match that the skill level to care for the pet is there. And everyone is always so nice. Big thanks for the pets that Ive gotten from them. Always a great match and filled our home with love.
We adopted our new baby a few months ago from the ASPCA and couldnt be happier. They responded within a couple days of our inquiry, even during a pandemic, we had meaningful conversations and Zoom calls over the next few days. Our kitty came home with food and a bed along with a bill of good health and plenty of follow-up calls and care. I would recommend the NYC ASPCA to any responsible person/family looking for a companion animal. The one thing Id suggest would be to send a confirmation email when an application is submitted but otherwise it was a perfect experience even in a difficult time for our city and the world over. We are very grateful.
ADOPT YOUR KITTEN FROM HERE!! After weeks of running around to find a kitten that looked pretty from online rescues, I was thoroughly disappointed. I turned to the ASPCA and found my sweet and beautiful kitten. They make you fill out a pre-adoption form that isnt invasive like other rescues questions are. Its mostly asks what youd like for in a pet. My main concern was that Id adopt a kitten that was skittish, hissed and clawed a lot. But the kittens here are SO WELL BEHAVED. She helped me choose which one would be better suited for me as a first time cat owner. They work with you personally which is what I love. Theyre so sterile and it doesnt have a bad smell at all. They talked to me about what to do/what not to do. Also provided so much FREE STUFF. They gave me a collar, days worth of dry food + wet food and a toy. Im forever thankful for them. Dont forget to bring a letter (any letter) that confirms your address. The adoption fee is $125 and if you get another one, ITS FREE! Seriously cannot praise this place enough.
I adopted a cat almost two years ago. It was listed as a spayed female and a neutered male 5 to 6 years of age. It was also listed as healthy with a cold and felv/fiv negative. When I received the intact male, he was 7 lbs and visibly underweight. I nursed him back to health and got him to almost 11 lbs, a healthy weight for him. Also had him neutered and his teeth addressed as he stopped eating. Keeping weight on him has been a challenge and this last run, we were referred to a specialist that suggested testing him for felv/fiv, as the mouth issues could be related. He has now tested positive for FIV. Mind you I brought him into a home with two perfectly healthy cats. I know FIV has likely not effected my other two, but what if it had been FELV. Which is highly contagious. I would have three sick cats on my hands due to your negligence. I understand you wanting to save the cats and find them homes, but why risk spreading infections to healthy cats with your lies and incompetence?
Not to long ago I took my Cat Orion to a Hospital because he was feeling sick and didn’t want to eat vomited blood and all that. They did an X ray and gave him a shot for the vomiting after that they did some other thing. In total i paid $678 dollars which didn’t even help at all because the next morning he was still sick . My beautiful amazing Girlfriend helped me get an appointment at ASPCA Hospital the very next day and I went without any money because the day before I had wasted all I had on the wack hospital. The same thing they did on the hospital I took him which costed 678 costed only 50 here plus on top of that he stood in the hospital to be monitor and checked the next day if needed a surgery or not and if he did they were going to cover it. I would have wasted a lot of money that I didn’t have probably would have been in debt but these people this workers this whole ASPCA they do Amazing May God Bless them ! And abundance of blessing come their way . Sorry if I didn’t make sense I’m just happy my cat was in good hands ❤️. When I go I’ll go hug everyone and thank them so much …
They saved my cats life. No other clinic nearby couldve possibly pulled of the miracle, but the staff here made sure they did everything in their power to. Environment is very relaxing, and the staff are very professional and friendly. May they continue to serve the animal community for as many years to come!
They are very caring. They prioritize visit based on the seriousness of your pet injury. I had my dog hip surgery. Everywhere else were telling me it will cost me $3500, ASPCA charged me only $1100 which included neutering and some of tooth removal. My baby is doing great after his FHO surgery.
When it came time to put my beloved dog down I went to the ASPCA. The vet that attended her was the most sympathetic professional I have ever met. He treated my very sick dog with dignity, care and was very gentle with her. He made a most difficult experience a little easy for me and for my dog.
I signed up twice to adopt a puppy. Was denied the 1st time because of a misunderstanding but the 2nd time I picked a puppy all they did was email me with; your info was archived. This place seems discriminatory. Have not heard back since over a month ago. I dont understand why I dont hear back from them about a puppy I signed up or attempted to adopt. I would not say that this place is so great, lack of communication is what I see.
Never bring you pets here...I did that mistake and went to take her back cost me 150.00 ..never no cats in the windows display ..
The facility and staff are amazing. The staff really want to help animals that are in need. When you are ready to adopt they do a short interview to match you up with the right pet. I adopted a cat and the whole process was seamless. The doctor and staff answered all of my questions and addressed my concerns. I wish i could help more of the animals. I would recommend anyone who wants to rescue a pet to come here.
The NYC ASPCA is the best. Dont go anywhere else. They are empathetic, professional, get down to business like no other. I have been going there for 30+ years and they are hands down, the best NYC has to offer.
I had a great experience adopting a kitten! The volunteer let me spend 2+ hours looking at every single cat. Once I chose the cat, I was able to talk to a behaviorist to make sure it was the right cat for me. Then even though they were backed up and I almost couldnt process the adoption that night, they ended up squeezing me in, which I really appreciated. They provided a free collar and identification tag and I was able to buy very cheap treats and toys and they gave me free samples of the food he was on. My cat is adorable and sweet and I have called back to ask questions and the staff has been so knowledgable. Definitely recommend!
Hi this review is a bit late...a lot late actually... I brought my kitten here nearly 2 years ago. (Kittens go for 125$ and the price includes spayed/neutering, and shots) the staff were super kind!! Super friendly! Its very clean. Theres handsanitizer around the place they had me put on before I played with the cats. And there are volunteers playing with the cats or walking the dogs. I brought my kitten home and soon she had gotten an eye infection, so she was taken to the vet free of charge, because it was within a certain time frame. I know people dislike this shelter for being a kill shelter, but unfortunately thats the reality of a lot of shelters in the U.S. Nevertheless, the vet was super friendly and gave us oitment for her eye. It really helped! So overall, great staff, great vets, and very clean and spacious
My experience here was great. I adopted a kitten and am very pleased with him. The facility was clean and the animals were well taken care of. The staff were all nice and helpful. Definitely would adopt here again.
I am forever grateful for amazing people who work here unfortunately my dog was put to sleep but they put my husband and I at ease that we were doing right thing. I even got a beautiful well written card with my dog paw on it made me cry I forever will treasure. Due to pandemic I wasnt able to pay for dog ashes and so one person donate to my dog be send to me with ashes .
I came here looking to adopt a small dog but the way I was treated was very shameful. I told them that I already own a rescue pitbull and they immediately asked me if I use him in fights. After I told them absolutely not they said I would need to bring him in so they can be sure. After all the awkwardness I informed then that I am a veteran and they said yeah sure everyone uses that excuse after this I got mad because that is one of the most disrespectful things you can say to someone who served this country. Past all of this i held my anger in and my partner and I looked at dogs. They are very well maintained and in a very clean environment. (The only reason in rating them 3 stars) after we picked a dog the woman told us was available we went downstairs to fill out paperwork. She looked at one of her coworkers and I over heard her whisper yo the woman at the desk to tell us that someone put a hold on the dog. I said are you kidding me? I can hear you. After this I just left out of disgust of the workers here. It really is a shame that they hire these types of people to work at a place that is supposed to be filled with joy.
The staff here was very nice, and highly responsive. Helped explain all the options with my extremely ill cat, she was extremely anemic and bleeding internally, they did tests and kept the cost low. Unfortunately in the end my cat was too far off... but the doctor did several tests to help us make this decision, was very caring. My cat got to this position from another private practice vets huge mistake in not catching her anemia and having a dental procedure done.Highly suggest bringing your pet here, especially if they are older, they have everything on site to test and take care of your pet. And the doctors see a lot, even the front staff are on their toes.
They performed life saving surgery on my cat Princess. Thank you Dr. Glass and the entire staff.
High quality pet adoption center on the upper east side. I adopted two healthy kittens from here the same day I went in. When you go in, you fill out a form about what type of pet youre looking for. Then after fifteen minutes or so, an adoption counselor asks more questions to find pets that better suit what youre looking for. Then they take you to different rooms that have the kind of pet youre looking for. The only thing was, when I did tell them which cats I wanted it took a long time to actually get them, like over an hour and a half To be fair, there were a lot of people waiting there but it seemed very long. Overall though, great experience and the best place to adopt a pet.
We have received amazing treatment in such a difficult time. The staffs kindness and patience when dealing with us panicky people, is really outstanding. I cant thank ASPCA enough for not only treating our sick animals, but they also care for our - the owners - hearts. They say hi when we enter the room, they call our pets babies, they communicate at every step, they are vwry sensitive when discussing monetary restrictions, they explain everything - risks, procedures, what to expect - all that in a manner thats nothing less than top notch. I dont know who runs this place, but he or she does a great job. Thank you
I love this animal hospital. Ive brought both of my cats on multiple occasions for different issues and have always been taken care of. Vets have all been fantastic and I even had one of the vets call me several days later to follow up.
Very clean, caring and professional adoption center. We adopted our first kitty and they have provided ongoing support. Kitten was so well trained! We had not problems with him adapting to our family.
We have just adopted a 2yo yorkie and experience so far is great !Thank you for the ASPCA team - they were really helpful, friendly, and efficient. We have been well informed and dogs and cat are really well treated. Thanks also for the specialist in pets behavior who gave us good advises.Great place that we can only recommend, come here better than any pets shops !
I neutered my dog through the ASPCA, they were my best option. Incredibly helpful, although not overly friendly, they care about what they are there to do their job for which are animals. My dog had a bruise after I neutered him, I called them and explained it was just a bruise which showed more because of the pale skin of my pom. They helped me so much. I am so grateful to them
Nice clean facility and they look like they really take care of their animals. Only complain is the disorganization at the security desk and thr lady who have me my paperwork was not so pleasant. The volunteer who showed me around was very friendly and they consider your living environment for best fit. Plus i like the fact that you can call about behavior questions at any time.
This place is awesome! We have adopted two cats here. Our first cat was adopted over two years ago and he was super affectionate. Unfortunately, he was ill, which we were told. But we wanted to adopt him anyways. So, we went back today after a long grieving process and adopted our second cat. Sallie has always helped us, she’s very nice! The place is clean and they even give you starting food/treats when you adopt.
I adopted Roll in April 2017 when she was 2 months old. My grandson came with me to pick her out. We decided to keep her name and we are very happy with her. The services and staff at ASPCA are terrific. The staff are very kind, helpful and informative.
We keep seeing animal cruelty but you don’t show any good results. The administration of this organization is a thief
Since the passing of my cat in 2005 I swore I would never get another pet, but that changed when I went to the ASPCA last month. The facility was clean, spacious and the staff was friendly and helpful. I was taken to the kitten room and one kitten caught my eye but she was reserved. Then I saw this little cutie-pie and I fell in love. The entire adoption process took about an hour. We arrived early and I made sure I had all of my documents. I picked out her collar and tag after paying my fee and was given a care package with samples of the food she had been eating.
My partner and I adopted our first kitten a year ago from the Upper East Side ASPCA. The experience and the kitten could not have been better! Amazing disposition, litter box trained from day 1, & fit right in with my older cat (BFFLs now). The staff was super helpful, patient, and efficient. I received a free vet coupon for follow up shots, kitten had hurt her paw playing a week after coming home, the vet was super sweet and helpful. Did not feel like she was trying to make me spend excess money or scam me into medication. I highly recommend ASPCA for both adoption and vet visits.
Absolutely amazing ppl saved my doggy daughters life for real! Princess an all of my family are extremely Thankful! Aspca is truly a Blessing!
I havent been to many animal shelters, but this is the best one Ive been to. Both the adoption center and the hospital have very professional and friendly staff. While hospital lines might be long, adoption procedure takes about an hour. All the animals are vaccinated and you are told everything about their medical history. Adoption is very cheap and a lot of times free depending on the age of the animal. They also give you bunch of gifts when you adopt.
5 Stars is for the Dr who looked after Lola and kept her till she was strong enough to come home. She kept me updated with her health and how she was doing throughout the day. I cant thank her enough for helping me out with the funds that I didnt have to help save my Lola. As for the staff in the front desk theyre very rude very unprofessional. The type of people they need at the front desk are people who greet you with a smile when you come in and have a people person personality someone who loves their job not just work to get a paycheck. They make you think twice about going back or referring anyone to this location.
I filled out an application to adopt a adorable dog named Archie July 27th of 2023 and I have yet to hear from them and I checked online it says my application is still pending… SOMEONE ON THE GOOGLE REVIEWS JUST ADOPTED A DOG LAST WEEK why is my application not being reviewed ? Unprofessional
I did not actually get to visit the ASPCA, but they are consistent with their updates and notifications! I recieved several emails about their pets, and other news . They make you feel special by including you in their progress. I cant wait to find my cuddle baby with them or whomever 💞
For a 1st timer this was a terrifying yet amazing experience . The staff are so funny and easy going which is great cause you can be taken over by fear from time to time from being so high up. The tips are absolutely safe and the views are absolutely stunning. I would definitely recommend this for anyone looking for an adventure.
Thank you all for helping me find my little guy Maxie
Relatively clean/maintained. You cant reach anyone when you call the main line though...around and around and around you go in the voicemail recording tree and no matter what button you press, the recording suggests yet another call you should make. This should be far easier for people since the ASPCA relies on the kindness of the public for donations, volunteers, etc. I had 30 lbs. of new cat litter that I nearly threw away because I couldnt get anyone on the phone to confirm they would take it and lost my patience trying to get someone on the phone to confirm they were open and would take my donation. I ended up jumping in a cab and taking a chance theyd accept it. 5 stars for the work they do, but 1 star for making it frustrating and difficult in general to obtain any relatively valuable information. I mean, their website doesnt even plainly indicate their hours of operation.
It was a very bad experienceI asked for a cat to help control the mice. I ask for an active cat that would interact with my grandchildrenUnfortunately I had to return the animal the next day.I was not informed that this cat was abused Nor did they tell me the history of this animal. The volunteer was very sassy and snotty talking at me when I returned the cat.And refused to acknowledge my questions about the cats historyThe people working there are not concerned about building good pet relationships they just want to empty the cagesSo not fair
Both shelter and hospital personnel is very nice and caring. Easy to call them without sitting half hour on the line, and only an hour long (or maybe even less) adoption procedure. So if you feel like giving a home to a kitty or a dog dont hesitate and go there.
I adopted a kitten after going through sort of a nightmare experience with a local adoption organization, and the contrasts between these two experiences emphasized the excellence of the ASPCA, its staff, and its volunteers. Founded in NYC in 1866, the ASPCA does a fantastic job of taking care of the citys animals, and educating pet owners. I was impressed by the friendliness and professionalism the staff and volunteers I met at the ASPCA. They set expectations clearly, and communicated well. When I went in on a Saturday morning, the kitty I wanted to adopt was not yet ready, but I was able to place her on hold. It was frustrating and a bit bewildering that they couldnt give me an indication of when she would be ready; I am sure there were good reasons for this. In any case, I appreciated that they had a way of reserving pets, and that once I committed to a pet, that they considered her mine until I decided otherwise. They called me the next morning with the news that she was ready to adopt. I got a bit emotional when they brought out this precious little kitten. Lia is only 2 months old but already spayed, up to date on shots, and microchipped and registered to my address; they also provide a metal tag with your phone number and the pets name, and offer a veterinary voucher of $250. Given all that they do for the community, the cost, $125, seems very fair. They sent me home with literature on cats, as well as food samples and toys. The tone of the instruction I received was very even-handed, well researched, and not at all judgmental. I would adopt a pet from the ASPCA again; it was a very positive experience, and they earned my respect.I am taking off one star though, since I felt very rushed through the experience of adoption. I realize now that I should have adopted two kittens, but I did not have time to meet more kittens in the adoption center, and the volunteers and staff did not stress to me how important getting two kittens from the same litter at the same time (as opposed to adopting another unrelated cat) can be in terms of getting a well matched pair. Ive also learned that they spend 20% of their budget on advertising, and that money donated to them does not go to local shelters across the US, even ones called SPCA.
My family and I adopted a kitten back in October, and now in July, she is 11 months and even more beautiful. We have had no health issues and she has been so sweet even from the start( we might even adopt another!!)
