I could not have had a better experience than the one I had at Bideawee.I was looking at dogs on their website and set my sights on one in particular. I contacted them and answered some questions they had via email. Right away they scheduled a Zoom call with me so we could find out more about each other. Over the course of the call, the kind and caring staff member actually directed my attention away from the dog I was looking at and toward another dog. The staff member wanted to make sure both the dog and I had a perfect match. I really appreciated this level of care—the staff member was more concerned with everyone being a good fit rather than just getting a dog adopted.I’ve had Juliet home for three weeks now, and she is a perfect addition to our home and is already making all kinds of dog and human friends. Thanks, Bideawee!!
I fostered two young kittens with Bideawee and ended up adopting one! Their foster program is phenomenal -- they really care about their animals, providing medical care as soon as something comes up. Theyre also amazing when it comes to supporting foster volunteers and set you and your foster up for success. My kitten was a foster fail! Shes incredibly sweet, and the adoption process was very easy. The shelter let me know that her sister had been adopted that morning (to my great joy and relief!), and gave me everything I needed to set my kitten up for success in the first week. The cherry on top — about 10 days after I brought her home, the shelter called to make sure she was healthy, happy, and settling in well. They asked specific health questions, too! That they called to check in on her, gave her most of her kitten shots + spayed her (saving me lots of money!), and went above and beyond to make sure she and her sister were happy and healthy shows that they put animals first.I would absolutely recommend adopting from Bideawee. Any animal that has passed through this organization has been loved and pampered so they can be their best self in their forever home!
Filled out an application for two kittens last night; received an email from Maylee this morning. She asked me for documents and then we had a phone call. Next 2 hours I’m home with my cats! The process was quick. Follow ups where friendly and professional. They knew what they were doing and it was awesome to adopt from them! I’ve been looking for adoption about 6 months now and I’ve been frustrated by the slow process or no answer from other shelters. This place is great I would definitely recommend it to my friends.Thank you guys
Adopted our dog here and it was an excellent process. The fee was reasonable and they provided her with all her shots and spayed her. They were very upfront with any possible issues and followed up to see how she settled in. 10/10 would adopt here again.
I had been trying to adopt a cat for weeks and had applied to multiple shelters in NYC, Long Island, and NJ but the matches always fell through. I realize that it’s hard for shelters to operate in the current pandemic-induced, WFH conditions but after dozens of applications submitted only to be told that the cat no longer was available or to be put on hold for days and THEN told that the cat was no longer available, I was definitely frustrated.Bideawee was different. Literally the day after submitting an application, one of their adoption counselors - Kerrie - contacted me. She was extremely receptive in discussing what I was looking for, and also very helpful when suggesting possible matches and each candidate cat’s personality. You can tell that they really know their animals. I was scheduled for an appointment the next day, went in and fell in love with my first choice, and took him home that very same day. If I had known adopting could be this efficient, I would’ve come here first. The appointment with the cat is laid back, really giving you time to interact with them, the application process is straightforward, and they provided me with an abundant amount of food to start. All of the staff were extremely friendly as well, not just Kerrie. Overall, a great experience and I cannot recommend Kerrie and this place enough. I got exactly what I was looking for, and the entire process from start to finish took less than 3 days.
I had the most amazing experience! From the minute we walked in the front desk attendants were extremely nice, friendly and welcoming.Abby helped us with everything. She guided us though the whole process and answered every question we had. She made the whole thing so easy!! We brought home the sweetest puppy and we feel so grateful we went to Bideawee!
I adopted Teemo from Bideawee in June 2019, since then. This little princess has been the center of my life, I love her so much. She was the last one remaining of her litter, I always wonder what happened to her siblings and where they are right now. The staff in Bideawee was very friendly and helpful, I appreciate all the works you have done for all these little angels. I have been to many centers in the city, Bideawee is still the best for me in my opinion. And for some of the bad reviews, I am not sure if the management is still at its peak right now at Bideawee but I am sure they are doing their best personally, and I dont think some of the bad reviews are fair for many people who worked hard to get Bideawee to where it is right now.
This is where I found something so sweet and full of love. My baby girl Jade. I love her. Shes my angel. The only place to get a beautiful and healty dog in Manhattan
My fiancé and I adopted our second cat (named Fish at the shelter, my fiancé renamed him Xerxes) from Bideawee at the end of February. We came intending on getting a kitten to keep our older cat company, but Fish/Xerxes surprised us. The shelter was incredibly friendly, introduced us to all of the cats, told us about unique quirks and potential issues, as well as their stories and what kinds of environments they were thought to do best in. We fell in love with Fish/Xerxes and we took him home. They gave us full medical records and a number to call if there were any issues. Xerxes is now a very happy member of our family, and I appreciate so much the team at Bideawee for taking care of him until we adopted him.
Adopted my pup through here! The adoption counselors are friendly and able to answer questions about any animal in the shelter. They let you play with the pups you’re interested in adopting to make sure you pick the best fit for you and your family. I’m white passing and came with my partner who’s a POC, and we only had the most pleasant interactions with the staff from beginning to end. Their website answers anything you need to know prior about bringing leashes/collars/documentation/etc.
The process was swift and effortless, and the staff provided exceptional assistance throughout! We were fortunate to adopt two adorable kittens, both just a few months old. The best part was the same day adoption, along with a few essential starter supplies. The cost was $180 per kitten, but there was a fantastic offer: if you adopt two, the second one is only $90. Moreover, both kittens have already been spayed/neutered and vaccinated for their well-being.
Great place with amazing people!Yesterday my daughter chose a puppy, and we bring her home. They did it fastall the paperwork, and also make sure the whole family was on the same page with having a “newborn” at home. She still can’t go outside like for a month but we don’tmind. We went back a couple of times, they explained everything and were patient with us since choosing a baby puppy is a big responsibility. We’re glad she is the middle of attention in the family. The shelter nice and clean they give us wet and dry food for the following days, puppy bag to take her home etc. She’s follow up with shots, and spayed. Can’t say enough thanks, we appreciate for the the team!
I adopted a bonded pair a year ago. The cats are the light of my life. The staff especially the vet responded to my inquiries on my initial visit. They showed me which cats were available. I see a lot of negative reviews that they are r*cist. I am a brown hijabi. I didnt think they had any extra steps/instructions for me. The staff is only concerned about the shelter animals well being and therefore require people to bring proof that multiple pets are allowed. Sometimes just the lease allowing pets is not enough. They ask to bring a carrier. You fill out one form and thats it. You can also call them if you are having problems .I didnt think they made the adoption process hard but only more secure. Animals undergo a lot of stress when they are adopted and returned instead of taking these personally one should understand. Thank you Bideawee.Attaching a picture.
I went to bideawee recently and adopted my cat Charlie. I lost my previous cat this past December so I went in with a heavy heart but ready to adopt. The girl that helped me was so kind and understanding with everything I explained to her. She took me around to see all of the cats and finally I walked into one room and my little guy started meowing and we knew it was a fit. The staff there is so friendly and kind, you can tell they really care about the animals, but also really want them to find their forever home. The adoption process was quicker than expected and not too much paperwork. I must say every staff member was immensely sweet and helpful. There are such beautiful animals there that need a home that already have their medicals done & are good to go. If you’re looking for a cat or dog, please check here because it was a great experience.
Kind staff, quick to respond to emails, and great with my newly adopted pup. They handled the cost of his ringworm treatment as he had it when I got him and I really appreciated that! The downside is they are a shelter/adoption agency, and so they can’t do everything in terms of extra vaccines or issues you may come across. The upside is they will give you great advice and lead you in the right direction.
This review is for their adoption center - I dont know anything about their veterinary services. Looking to adopt a kitten, I visited Bideawee after seeing a particularly adorable ward of theirs on Petfinder. It was love at first sight. This particular kitten was going to be a challenge, though, and the staff was serious about filling me in on the necessary information, for both his sake and mine. Andy and the rest of the adoption staff were incredibly kind, understanding, and friendly. They clearly love what they do, care about the animals in their care, and want the best for them. They were as happy for him to find a home as I was to take him with me. They provided me with special food for his transition, plenty of information, and all the support anyone could need. If youre looking for a new pet, please consider this dedicated, local, no-kill shelter on your search - theyre the best around.
I just adopted a cat from this wonderful place. They have done such miracle work nursing him from being found in a bucket to coming home with me and being so at peace straight away. The whole team were so kind and so loving to him and the other animals, I’m so grateful to them. They really invest in their little creatures it shows so much. They were kind enough to let me take his bed that was donated to him so he felt at home and that has made such a difference. I’m so grateful for everything they did for little Sunny.
My puppy was sick when I adopted her. Once she was severely sick I had to take her to the ER and Bideawee was completely unprofessional and took weeks to ever give me a response back. Once they did they didn’t care to fix the mistake that they caused. Do not support this shelter. The workers here are unprofessional and do not care about the adopters once the animal is out there hands.
Amazing the environment Amazing beautiful people with care and loving souls. Adopt two beautiful kittens came with all shots and chip and clip this has been there 100 or more years and didnt even know till I looked online and went to them to Adopt its Amazing. I highly recommend people to Adopt here Love my furbabys with all my heart and soul.
We adopted a very sweet, female lab mix puppy from the Westhampton site after seeing the dog on their webpage. I filled out the application online, and the next day took the two hour trip out to Long Island to meet the puppy. Thankfully she was still available. The staff was very knowledgeable and helpful. We brought our two year old lab with us, and the staff had the puppy and our dog interact in an outdoor pen to make sure they were good with each other. The actual adoption process & paperwork etc, was very smooth. Everything was explained, and we were given a supply of the puppy’s current kibble & canned food. The facilities are clean and the dogs are well cared for. Our puppy is a delight! We were very lucky to adopt her. She was spayed, chipped, wormed, and vaccinated by Bideawee. They also explained when the next round of vaccinations by our vet was due.I would definitely recommend Bideawee Westhampton.
This is a great animal shelter. I have been looking for a puppy for about 3 months and it is so hard to find one in a shelter. They usually go really fast but this place has puppies coming in every week!! I went with my boyfriend and we were able to see 5 puppies that they had. My boyfriend later on that week went back to surprise me with one and he brought back one that I haven’t seen there. The adoption process is very easy and quick. He was out of there within 2 hours. The puppies are neutered, Chipped and have their shots. I would say this is definitely a great place to adopt.
Walk-in adoption went really seamlessly! Everyone was great and very helpful/informative, and overall it was an astounding experience. Now weve got an adorable kitten! Not sure what all the bad reviews are about. Theyve made changes, I guess. Highly recommended!
Sure this place does care about animals, but they do not care about you. I visited several times in the same week and they lost my surveys. I had every intention of adopting this specific dog that same day, but was told to come back the next morning because they were too overloaded 2 hours before closing. I was told we normally dont do this but I can put her on temporary hold for you. It was a lie. After an hour long commute and being 30 minutes early someone else adopted that same dog. Im glad the dog was adopted, but I cant say I can trust a place that would lie to me and not apologize.
Told us the bonded pair of dogs we adopted were good with cats. Further from the truth. After a week we had to bring them back. Even after telling them the dogs were super aggressive towards our cat and we had to bring them back they refused to refund our adoption fee of $500. They lie to people and collect multiple adoption fees for the same animals.
DONT LIKE BEING YELLED AT, ESP. AFTER I JUST MADE A DONATIONI have been living a block from Bideawee Manhattan for many years. And for many years, I have brought in donations -- blankets, towels, tennis balls, miscellaneous. Yesterday, I brought in a load of donations for the front baskets which are available for the public to take. Then I walked into the main room to see if there were any dogs behind the glass to look at. There was one. A large dog. It barked. And in turn, one of the gaggle of girls in blue all huddled around the front desk yelled at me to step away.Yelled? Is that necessary? Why put the dog up front if youre going to have to yell at innocent people to not look. Especially after this person just made a donation. Is there no grownup in the office? I walked in feeling happy about making the donation and I left feeling so deflated.
I rescued my dog from Bidawee Westhampton in December 2018. The place was so clean, dogs taken care of there, on a good diet and my dog was healthy and has been a blessing for the last two years Ive had him! I recently wanted to get him a sister and went to Sportsmans Kennel who took my deposit then gave the dog to someone else. It was a horrible experience so I decided to adopt again and plan to (if my dog likes her) get another puppy from Bidawee Wantagh within the next few days! Highly recommend them due to professionalism, cleanliness, organization, care for the animals and simple process in adopting.
We just adopted an adorable puppy from Bideawee Manhattan. The staff could not have been more helpful or charming. We were welcomed so warmly every time we went in, and they all went out of their way to make sure we had an easy and enjoyable adoption experience. We cannot recommend bideawee enough. Thank you to everyone there! We could not be happier with the new four legged member of our family. We also saw quite a few people coming in for visits with the pets they had adopted from bideawee and it was so lovely to see how happy they were and that the staff recognized them all instantly and obviously had a great relationship with them. :)
The worst adoption center ever!!! I found a puppy I really like it. I live by myself. I have a plenty of time to take care of the puppy. Their reason that dont allow me to adopt him because they said the puppy need to live with a big family!!!! I asked for seeing other dogs. They dont allow me to see other dogs in their center. The supervisor is rude. She said that she dont want me to come here adopt a dog!! Seriously!!!
Im sure Bideawee is a great no kill shelter. I didnt personally get my dog there, but I respect what they do. This review is for their animal hospital. First off their fees are astronomical, which is to be expected in NY, but the ASPCA animal hospital has much better rates and people. The people at Bideawee are incredibly rude. I questioned a charge they incurred on a follow up appointment. A charge of $45! And not only did the front desk receptionist lie to my face when she told me she would get the doctor, but instead of explaining to me why they incurred the fee they said it wasnt worth arguing. Such a dismissive and rude way to treat the people who are giving you business. For a doctor or manager not to come out and talk is incredibly rude. I equate it to a pediatrician refusing to clear something up with a parent. If you want to be charged through the roof and then dismissed if you have any questions about your bill by all means go to Bideawee.
OBSERVATION OF PREJUDICE PRACTICES: So I thought the front desk people were super knowledgeable. They showed me around the office and I saw a few dogs. However I thought it was worth noting that the woman who showed me around was pretty discriminatory in a few instances and this wasn’t a white woman. It was a Hispanic woman. People adopt animals same day with this “rescue center” and all they as is for proof of residence and id, but suddenly when I got there this woman said I needed :Written confirmation from my landlordApproval from my roommatesOf course I didn’t have that readily available in writing but I tried to explain to her that I actually went through the process with another rescue center so I do have back and forth. She gave me an attitude and said “I’m not…”. The mere assumption that I was trying to swindle her before I could even EXPLAIN was racist in and of itself. The fact that she was coming up with new rules on the fly was racist in and of itself.🙃 there are better and CLEANER places to adopt OR FOSTER from like Muddy Paws.
What a great place to find a pet! The vets and volunteers are very kind to animals and are truely genuine in helping pets. This is where I got my cat and I was grateful that they dont keep pets locked up in small cages like other places do. They had a big room where cats can roam around and play with each other. They gave my cat all the shots she needed even before I was ready to take her home, and they also put a chip in her for free so that if she gets lost I would get contacted once shes found.
Similar to what another reviewer stated, they never disclosed to me that the kitten had worms. They stated they gave him a full work up and he was fine. He later on started to bite/scratch excessively and it wasnt until my vet explained to me that the behavioral problems were caused by the worms and the all the meds we had to try. My emails/phone calls to them went unanswered until I said I had someone watching the kitten for me for a few days while I was at work due to his behavior and then I received a hostile email back saying I should have reached out to them before doing that (which I had) and they very conveniently still ignored the parts of my email asking them why they never disclosed the fact that the kitten had worms... not to mention the fact that there was NEVER any follow up after I adopted him, not a call, email, nothing.
I adopted my Jack Russell five year’s ago. And ever since then she has been suffering with different illness. I have grown to love her so much! But I definitely believe they knew she had difficulties. Heart broken
What an amazing animal shelter and hospital in the heart of Manhattan. Bideawee is a no kill shelter (YAY!) that takes in rescues from other area shelters. They have a surprising amount of space including a learning center where people and groups can interact with the animals and where the animals can get some exercise. They have a great variety of dogs and cats for everyone from puppies and kittens to older, calmer critters. The staff is also super friendly and loves what they do and even sometimes foster the critters. There is also a hospital on premises and they have a good relationship with nearby specialists when needed. When adding a member to the family, support an organization that is doing great things, not some puppy farm and head to Bideawee.
The vets at Bide A Wee, are kind, intelligent, thorough, and take their time with each animal. The support staff is great, and kind also Sometimes there is a bit of a wait, but other than that they are perfect. Everyone in the clinic and the adoption section are dedicated to their (and your) animals welfare. Truly good people work here.
Adopted this little psycho from Bideawee last year and shes been a gift to our lives. Great experience !
I have visited this place to get a kitten. I have found a couple kittens there and I fell in love with a kitten I did all the paperwork they have asked and told me to come pick her up in 3 days shes in treatment. Call us on the 3rd day. When the 3rd came I called and they told me shes being adopted already. First come first serve. Why would you tell me to adopt her on the 3rd day? Why would you trick somebody? Very disappointed!
I had an awesome experience .... I honestly have no complaints ! I adopted our baby, Kane, and the staff at Bideawee Manhattan were so supportive and helpful and patient ..... Hilary would reply to my emails as soon as she could and I couldn’t be more grateful for that ! The staff there is very sweet and accommodating! I will always be grateful to them and recommend them highly ...... thanks again ! ♥️
With designated play rooms and a staff that brings in their own pets to socialize the animals waiting for adoption, you can feel the dedication to making sure the animals are healthy and happy. The staff is energetic and ready to give a tour of the facilities at the drop of a hat. They also rescue animals from areas outside of New York as well to do their part finding homes for stray animals.
I dont have words to express how grateful I am for finding this place! The process is simple. Bring documents required and you can leave, the same day, with your new baby. Filled an application on a Thursday and on Saturday I left with my puppy.
Its been its been about 9 months since I adopted my Pup at the Bideawee, I ended up on their Twitter page and realized I never sent them photos for xmas like I wanted to. When I adopted Woods it was a very smooth process although thorough. I went in wanting him the minute I saw him online and thats exactly who I walked out with. The employee (with the cool hair colors) takes her work serious and made sure she knew we were a good fit before giving us the good news. I love my fur baby more than anything so thank you Bideawee xoxo(Cousin Itt)
My boyfriend and I had a goal to visit every animal shelter in the city on one very rainy Saturday morning. It went from this is fun to I could not stop crying. Its really sad to see so many animals in need of a home. Anyone looking to do what I did start in the 100s and go down because the other way around it goes all downhill as far as the condition of the animals. Given the local going downhill suddenly seems like an oxymoron. When I got to Bidawee I really got the sense of them wanting to place an animal in a good home. I say this because Animal Haven gave me the impression that, Im in a cool neighborhood, Im rude because of it, by the way so many other people put in adoption papers for this dog, waste your time filling out our paperwork and by the way we update our website once a year so the dogs you see on our website may or may not even exist! Let me not sound completely bitter about Animal Haven because they did approve us for a dog. Because they were rude we continued looking.Needless to say I adopted a Chihuahua Mix from Bidawee on December 29th and I cannot wait to adopt another dog from them hopefully towards the end of 2014. The adoption process was seamless and I really felt at home. They do check your references (you may want to let people know you are putting them down as a reference ASAP because they call right away), everyone in your household must be there when you attempt to adopt (dont go there if little Suzie has swimming practice because even little Suzie must be present), they give you a free vet visit and they have a one on one dog trainer if you feel you need a little help. Oh, they also update their website right away :) which helps if you are online looking for a specific dog. Its very far east. I mean right off of the FDR to be exact. I liked the atmosphere so much that I am continuing to take my dog there for his vet visits even though I live on the Upper West Side.
When I first went to Bideawee, several years ago, I did so because I believed they cared about animals and offered affordable vet care for those who needed it. I had two Persian cats, one I bought 11 years ago when I was still working, the other one, a show cat Persian, I rescued. I am a senior living on mostly social security, with a small savings. I took my two cats there for shots and checkups. The adopted cat stopped eating and I took her to Bidawee. Ms. Parr, gave her $350 worth of tests, then told me the cat had a high white blood cell count, and a temperature of 92…extremely low. She said she was going on vacation, and to take the cat to the Animal Hospital at 62nd and FDR Drive. They made me sign a paper stating their triage care would cost $650. I signed it because I love my little cat. Less than an hour later, they told me my cat was eaten up with cancer and in pain. She needed to be put down then and there. I was devastated, and they were kind to me. Unlike Ms Parr, who if she is any kind of vet, should have know what was wrong. If she had let me know what was wrong, I would have taken my baby home to die instead of putting her through another round of the same tests, to die in pain. This woman doesnt care about animals or people.
This is an amazing place to adopt a pet. I love everything Bidawee stands for and they have the best staff and volunteers. You can tell the people there really love animals and want to see them in a great loving home. My boyfriend and I adopted our sweet Lolly from here and Bidawee was helpful from start to finish. If you’re thinking of adopting make this your only visit.
Terrible communication. If you feel the paperwork online there is no guarantee that you will even see the dog. They just try to get your money. I had to take rabies shot from one of their dogs. When we had to return the dog, there were 3 other families returning their dogs because they became aggressive.
Found the light of my life here. I appreciated the intake form they require. Helped streamline process and this way, you are only considering animals that are a good fit. It was fast, easy and yet responsible. Thank you Bideawee!!Laurie Henrich
My cat got very sick. The care here is wonderful. All the staff terrific and return calls and texts so promptly. Dr Jodi Poller, a kind dedicated person, took care of my precious Butterscotch. A great caring doctor who saved Butters life. Dr Wettinger also was so helpful and kind and took care of Butterscotch when Dr P off. Highly recommend this hospital. Kathleen Davis
Bideawee animal hospital is doing nothing but great work rescuing these cute and adorable animals. Bideawee by name is no kill facility which is great and they are wholly focused on finding great homes for these deserving animals. You can tell the staff really cares and loves these little guys and they are always looking for volunteers to help out around the place as well as spend time with those animals they have on premises . Stop by if you can and volunteer, spend some time, and help give these little guys a chance at a normal home :)
I adopted my puppy from bideawee in September of 2014 with his healing leg from a surgery he had received by the doctors at bideawee. I am grateful for what they have done for him saving his life. They started off extremely vague telling us they could not tell us about where he was from and they didnt know how he was injured (said he probably just fell) and that he would have a full recovery, no problem. We were also told that he was only nervous around bideawee bc of the highway and walked fine everywhere which was a huge lie. First day I took him home he planted himself and I ended up carrying 15 blocks home. He was terrified of the entire world and still is to this day. Especially knowing I was a first time dog owner, i cant believe they thought it was a good match. Thankfully I have always worked with all different kinds of animals my whole life and have many dog trainer friends to deal with his anxiety a bit that its been ok.later on in another appointment, I find out he had broken his leg IN THEIR CARE (as I was thinking all along that he was abused because he was so fearful) and he has been favoring his leg again recently so I brought him in and they found nothing wrong although there is something very apparently wrong. Along with that, I brought him to the animal medical center since he was nauseous and they find that he has a heart murmur, which bideawee claims to have started from him running at the park, which a cardiologist at amc said that is not possible at all and he was born with it. His heart murmur was so loud I could hear it through his chest so I dont know how the people at bideawee could not notice. My experience with them has been very stressful and they have not owned up to anything. I have been unable to take my dog to run and play and hes so young its tough to see his youth and energy have to be pushed down because of an ineffective surgery and inconclusive examinations+X-rays. The fact that they did not notice his heart murmur EVER of all times I brought him there, and lied about the type of dog he was makes me not want to ever suggest anyone to go there. I appreciate the work that they do as a rescue organization but their hospitals I would never recommend. They do have some particular staff that are wonderful and truly care and love my dog but the vets are not them.
Bideawee is an animal hospital and no-kill shelter in midtown. We went to volunteer recently and enjoyed ourselves. Facilities are clean and animals clearly live a good life here. Staff and friendly and animal lovers to their core. Should you find yourself with some time and a need for a furry snuggle, head to Bideawee for a few hours. Theyre always looking for a helping hand.
Class act that takes good care of the animals before adoption. After interacting with In Our Hands Rescue and their owner, Jennifer Lamb and her sidekick, Emily Weil and seeing other victims of that org (dogs included), you really appreciate orgs that care about the animals, the adopters and more than just their pocketbooks. Really wonderful to see non-sociopaths in this business.
We adopted a cat from here. The staff were awesome and the place was clean and you could see that all the animals were very well taken care of.This is a great shelter.
I absolutely love this place. They treat their animals so well and we brought home the sweetest 2 month old kitten from here. He has 10xd the quality of our lives at home and we’re so happy we made this decision.
Today I took my Dog Trinidy to get her Rabies vaccine and to be examined. The Vet and her assistant were gentle and caring. They explained everything to me. And told me that Trinidy looks healthy and her teeth are in good shape. Am so glad I took my Trinidy to the Bideawee Animal Hospital. It was a great experience for Trinidy and me. Everyone who helped was caring and respectful. Never was anyone rude to me. I would recommend anyone who has a Pet that needs to see a Vet. Take your Pet to the Bideawee Animal Hospital.
I went to this place 3 weeks ago, a day after my birthday I might add, Ive been going to this shelter for almost 2 years visiting cats and giving the cats attention till one day a female staff came to me telling me and my friend that this isnt a petting zoo either I adopt a cat or I need to step out and allow others to see the cats that actually are serious in adopting just because I dont want to adopt a cat doesnt mean Im not serious about adopting one, given my circumstances I cant adopt a cat till I move out since my mom is allergic to cats. Either way you should of worded your statement more respectfully to someone who is a customer and whose bringing you constant customers that want to adopt to that place. I believe people deserve to go in and see the cats for at least a half an hour to an hour, because cats dont only want to attention from cats but also want human interaction. Like I said before Ive been there and come on a weekly bases to this place. Its my first time having a problem with a staff. I know its a place of business but you shouldnt be rude to those that bring joy to the cats. Thats all. Things I might add is that I wash my hands before and after I play with the cats and secondly cats love seeing people and like when people play with them aside from those who are employees at the place.
Very wonderful, and I enjoyed every moment as soon as I walked in. The staff was very helpful and great explanation of everything you need to kno.Thank everyone. The cat that I adopted is so adorable. Her name is Blossom.
I went in April 2015 to leave my French Poodle who had passed that morning..I called and the guy that answered was so kind and understanding...I showed up and he remembered speaking to me. He was so sweet and kind.. Ill always remember the service there as I was so broken hearted. Once I picked up my Tinos ashes I was also treated with the utmost kindness and understanding. Thank you !
This is a PET STORE camouflaged as a Shelter. They dont care who you are or how the dogs are doing. They just want to SELL the dogs to whoever pays the money while pretending that they are practicing charity. And the women who work are literally mean and terrible. They will ask you to buy suppies from a store two blocks away, which actually is overpriced. Dont BUY a dog there, at least a really pet store will not act like this phony.
I had a great experience. Adopted my first puppy at Bidawee! The staff was so kind and made the process simple.
Got the best dog from Bideawee Westhampton in 2003. He was with us for 13 great years. I remember even back then it took us some persistence to get the dog though. We had to make multiple trips, but it was well worth it.
Just walked out of this place for the second time today. Absolute waste of time. Sent us back this morning because we need proof that we live in a home even though we called earlier before coming. By the time we got back the dog was already adopted and they didn’t even want to look at our ID. Absolute worst service. Would not come back to adopt from there and would certainly not recommend this place to anyone. Wasted half my day with their none sense.
The adoption process is smooth, the staff is great, the shelter is clean. Their website is up to date they seem to always get in new dogs every week or 2 weeks which is great!
I had a wonderful experience with Bideawee from the very beginning I was explained in detail about there adoption process and I was teamed up with a perfect match the girls at the center were fantastic and in the end I got my beautiful puppy named Jackie she is 4 month and she adores my girl the whole family we are very happy we adopted her with Bideawee.
The place is very clean.Every workers are friendly and nice. They loves animals and every animals loves the workers too. I adopted one dog today, I hope I can make him happy for his entire life.
We adopted a cute mix but I found some of the staff abrasive and rushed during the adoption process. I would’ve liked to interact with more dogs.
I love Bideawee. I got all my cats from them. I am looking forward the opening of the new location and the Veterinarians services to start again.
I am a TNR rescuer from brooklyn....My experiences with the staff has always been good....I deal only with the supervisors...my rescues are found mostly in the streets...so I appreciate the time and effort they put in to helping these animals...if your negative experience wasnt good, maybe is wasnt your time...to have a pet...its not easy running a no kill shelter...stress can be overwhelming dealing with kinds of issues...Any way to each his own and have a great day....
Great place, little spaces for the animals but the staff is very kind and patient with the animals and adopters.I havent adopted yet but I am planning on adopting.
Best place to adopt! Crew is patient and attentive, process is straightforward, and you can tell that they care about the animals.
RACISTS!!!! IM A BLACK WOMAN . I WENT TO BIDEAWEE WITH MY 2 SONS AGES 3 AND 6 TO GET THEM A PUPPY AND THE STAFF WAS ALL WHITE BUT THAT DIDNT MATTER TO ME WHAT MATTERED WAS HOW RUDE THEY WERE TO ME AND MY CHILDREN. MY SONS ARE VERY FRIENDLY TO PEOPLE AND ANIMALS THEY BOTH KEPT SAYING HI TO THE STAFF BUT THE STAFF JUST IGNORED THEM AND LOOKED AT US FUNNY. ONE WOMAN EVEN ASKED IF I WAS LOST!!! RIDICULOUS. WHAT A BLACK WOMAN CANT HAVE A PET? THEY HAD US WAITING IN THE LOBBY FOR NEARLY AN HOUR BEFORE THEY SHOWES US THEIR DOGS AND THEY TOLD US MOST OF THEIR DOGS ARE BEING ADOPTED SO I HAD TO COME BACK ANOTHET DAY. BUT 2 WHITE WOMEN CAME IN GOT GREETED AND TREATED WITH RESPECT SAID THEY WERE NEW AND WANTED A DOG THE STAFF SHOWED THEM THE DOGS AND THEY PICKED ONE AND THAT WAS IT. SO I COMPLAINES AND THEY TOLD ME THEY HAD ONE DOG LEFT FOR ME SO I SAW IT WAS A SMALL BLACK PUPPY PERFECT FOR OUR FAMILY. THE STAFF WATCHED US INTERACT WITH THE DOG AND MY KIDS WERE SO HAPPY AND THE DOG WAS PLAYFUL BUT THEN THE MANAGER CAME OUT OF NOWHERE AND SAID THE DOG WAS NOT A GOOD FIT FOR US . SO I ASKED WHY AND SHE SAID SHE KNOWS ALL THE DOGS BEST. MY SONS WERE SO HURT AND CRYING I WAS HURT TOO. WHY DO SOME PEOPLE HATE OTHER PEOPLE BASED ON THE COLOR OF THEIT SKIN ITS TRULY HEART BREAKING WHAT THIS WORLD HAS COME TO. THIS PLACE NEEDS A BETTER STAFF OR TO BE SHUT DOWN PERIOD!!!!!
What a wonderful adoption experience!I had been following Bidawee and when little Flint (now Louis) popped up I immediately applied. The next day I got a phone call and email asking if I wanted to come into meet him!I went in the next day and they were so helpful. They first introduced me to Flint and we got to go to a room to connect and play. Of course, I fell in love and then we started the paperwork adoption process. The harness I brought didnt fit him so they gave me an extra they had that was small enough. They also gave me a big folder with all of his medical history, ample information on how to be a puppy parent, and a bag and can of food to start him off - it is a process to switch puppies food.I love that Louis was neutered, microchipped, registered with NY State license, and up to date as possible with his shots. Both of the employees were so helpful, supportive, and kind. They also empowered me to keep in touch if I need help or had any questions.I am so blessed to have Louis in my life and eternally grateful for Bidawee for helping him to find a furever home!
I just double adopted 2 puppies....they let me have them with a special background check....Ill definitely recommend this place and whatever they recommend
Have been depending on Bidawee for over 20 years. Compassionate understanding for pets and owners. A very big Thank You.
Best place ever got my cat here 11 years ago they had the coolest staff and helped with a seamless process
The caretakers were very affectionate and very kind. It made or visit pleasant. 100% would visit again.
They helped me find the perfect pet for me. Shes just a wonderful little cat!
Need to be clear/ on the same page and a little more communication would be lovely. The volunteers/staff though have been nice in person.
The service is great. The staff is friendly. Adopted Mikie will now be called Symohony Rhooms
Great not-for-profit animal hospital, though they have been raising their prices over the past few years.
Best experience ever, really helpful staff who make for a stress free and caring adoption process.
Great place to adopt a pet. The workers are helpful and really care about the animals
The facility was very clean. Staff was super friendly! The process was quick and easy.
It’s the best place ever! So fast and perfect. They are so nice over here. It was meant to be!!
I adopted my best friend from here and Ill never be thankful enough
No kill shelter. Everyone there is very nice and the animals are well looked after
Superb place. The animals look sooo well cared for and happy, the people who work here are very knowledgeable.
Do NOT adopt here if you are black, brown, or Asian. In my experience after finding out we were two POC adopting Bideawee continued to add/change the requirements. They insinuated that we could not afford or care for the cat we wanted to adopt and love, despite providing them with all the info they asked for. At the shelter we were ignored despite other customers being approached and helped. If you are a person of color GO ELSEWHERE.
Excellent service. Prices are borderline high, but they really care about the animals and the work they do.
Adopted the most precious doggo today. Staff was amazing and we really appreciate them taking us through their adoption process step by step. Couldn’t be happier, thank you Bideawee team!
Extremely unprofessional and passive aggressive communication. They have a giant stick up their behind and are not at all friendly or accommodating.
Personally I don’t believe they spend enough time socializing their kittens.
Me and my mom are looking for a place to adopt is this a good place to get a dog or puppy from
My boyfriend and I have been thinking about getting a puppy for quite some time. After doing some research on animal shelters in the city, we decided to check out Bideawee and we are so happy that we did!First off, everyone was so nice and professional. This was my first experience at an animal shelter and it was nothing like I imagined. This place was clean and the animals honestly looked well taken care of. The staff were really nice and they answered every one of my questions. After checking out the adorable dogs, we filled out an application and now we are just eagerly waiting for a call back.I truly recommend this place for anyone has their hearts set on finding their new little companion!
I was part of a Cuddle Session at my company where puppies are brought in to play in the hopes of being adopted. I had put in an application for a puppy as we had spent over an hour together and myself and the volunteers agreed, she had chosen me; it was instant love. I asked about the process and if I was able to take her that day. At that time I was not aware they were not staff and had no decision making power. They told me that I needed to go through the formal application process. I asked if I could adopt her that day and they said not to worry and she was secure. They told me she was my dog and told other members of my company the same AND fielded other applications for her. She was adopted yesterday at 4 PM by someone else.I personally feel as though there was a complete disregard for my application and my interest and true love for this dog. I had to call to get an update that she had been given to someone else. If the volunteers sent are not equipped to complete an adoption then they should not be present. It is one of the most unprofessional and devastating experiences I have been through. Many people know a connection to an animal is special and when it is real you know. I knew. I was not afforded the opportunity to provide a home to an animal I know was meant for me and for that I will never adopt an animal from this shelter.
I love volunteering at this place and then people who work there.
Great place for young and should take dogs to burn their energy
They are the best. I was able to find a great home for my poodle through them.
Very friendly, caring staff and a nice facility
Amazing no kill shelter. This isnt a kill shelter.
It can be a little expensive, but I do get good solid service from them every time I take my dog there.
Highly professional. Amazing experience
