Amazing little experience where you get to place a brunch order, then play with a bunch of adoptable cats and kittens! After your time is up with the cats, you come back to the cafe and your food is hot and ready. Overall a very chill and fun experience, would totally recommend!
We stop here every time we visit NYC- the coffee is good, but we come for the cats. Were always happy to spend some money to support the adoption of the kitties. Make sure to make a reservation if you want to visit the cats!
First cat cafe experience. Cats were so cute. Loved spending time here. They sell water, tea, coffee, beer, wine and sake, as well. Staff not too friendly but they weren’t rude either. Overall it was nice to spend time with these sweet babies
Koneko Cat Cafe in New York is a delightful experience for cat lovers. The staff is exceedingly friendly and welcoming. Upon entering, you are greeted by a charming coffee shop at the front. Moving to the back, youll find the cats residing in a cozy area. Theres even an outdoor section for the cats to roam freely. If you venture downstairs, youll discover a section with a TV monitor providing detailed information about the resident felines. Although there is no waiver required, the staff excels in being informative and caring for the cats by explaining the rules. The rescue cats are very sweet, adding to the overall enjoyment of your visit.
I booked to spend time with the kitties. The cats are cute, but they were clearly stressed, so most of them were not interested in playing or being pet.I can see why these cats werent having a good time, though. Some of the other guests in my group were antagonizing or annoying the cats, and the workers didnt seem to be paying attention to the behavior of the guests and instead were just sitting on their phones. The worst example was this: with a little gray cat named Cleo. One pair of guests repeatedly shoved a toy in her face when she was annoyed and wanted to be left alone. I suppose some people find it funny to be mean to cats (or just dont know any better), but I think thats the type of behavior that a worker is supposed to be there to facilitate. No wonder the cats didnt seem happy. The cats are cute. The café itself is cool. I support the cause; finding stray critters good homes. But, unfortunately, I cant say that paying $20 to witness other people mishandle cats was a good experience.
Made a quick stop to Koneko Cafe. I ordered an iced strawberry matcha latte and it was better than what I expected, the balance between the sweetness of the strawberry and the matcha was perfect. To experience your coffee in the cattery a reservation is required in advance. Overall 4 star experience.
Food was decent. Wish they had pork gyoza. The dark chocolate cake had too much cocoa. The pumpkin latte was delicious and so were the warm croissants. The cat area was nice because it had 2 floors and an outdoor, but the cats werent too friendly and seemed scared of the people.
Surprisingly spacious cat cafe with a whole outdoor catio area! Its also super clean and well kept. The cats are adorable too of course.
The coffee was decent not the best honestlyComing from Europe, the cat cafes dont require you to pay, so I was quite surprised they charge 24$ entry to pet the cats which are locked behind a glass window.
Great place for therapy. There were 16 there during our visit, they play and love to be petted even when sleeping. Staff are so friendly, educational and informative, coffee is good, just a nice visit with a great idea to rescue cats. We were impressed 👏.
My daughter had been begging me to take her here. Super cute cat hang out. It’s so nice that they have indoor outdoor areas. Our food and coffee was delicious They did require an appointment appointment, so make sure to book before you go.
Enjoyed my stay there with my boyfriend. Cats were cute and full of personality - quite a few there so we never felt overcrowded by other guests. The environment felt a bit sterile - not exactly cozy - but I’m sure that makes clean-up a lot easier. When we arrived there were no snacks left at their cafe, so I can’t comment on the pastry
When Im in the mood for something out of the ordinary, I scout out places that offer unique experiences. This time around, I hit up a cat cafe where I ordered a coffee and paid $25 for an hour of quality cat time.• The place had both an indoor and outdoor playground for the feline residents.• We made a same-day reservation.• There were adult cats lounging about, not super playful but just living their best nine lives - trying to snag birds and soaking up that vitamin D outside. Every now and then theyd mosey over to the humans and let us pet them or play with a toy.• You can actually adopt the cats from this place too.• The coffee was solid, but they could probably up their game with better food and snack options.• Overall though, I really dug the whole concept.
The cats are so cute and chill. Most of them are used to being around people so you can pet them at ease but there are some that are spooked out so don’t try to bother and scare them. You’re not allowed to pick them up unless you’re the staff, which is understandable. It was pricey though for the hour reservation, fun experience nonetheless.
This is such a chill cat cafe I’d definitely come back with friends! Staff is so friendly and the cats are all rescue, and up for adoption. COME GUYS 😎
One of the cutest cat cafes in new york with plenty of cats to play with and pet, you need to make a reservation to enter the cat rooms and its 25 dollars per person, so alittle pricy, but was an very cute experience. The thing is, its very busy in their, so maybe two people per cat, quite a lot of people on the lower level. The matcha latte was also really good, I recommend getting one before going in. Overall a fun experience, but sorta crowded.
Good! You need to make a reservation to enter the cattery, and do it upfront or you might not be able to go see the cat. They are well treated and you must go in their private area shoeless and only a few at a time to respect them 😊
I absolutely love this place. They have cats !!! Well thats to be expected its a cat cafe after all. I havent tried their food yet but the cats are adorable. We went around 5 so it was after lunch time and most of the cats were lounging about but they will show that theyre open to being pet. I relate to the one named Bob the most LOL.You should reserve online just in case but they do take some walk-ins if the slots arent booked. $20 for an hour which isnt bad considering you get to play with the cats and the employees were really nice, telling you which one is attracted to what and each cats names.
Had a great time w the cats here. I think the people who commented that they didn’t have a good time with the cats probably just didn’t know better about the nature of cats. Older cats are less active and playful than kittens. It also just takes time to build trust with cats. Cats also tend to nap more in late afternoons. I went there at 1pm and most cats were still awake. The cats seem well taken care of. You can tell the cats trusts the staffs. The outdoor area also really gives the cats some fresh air and more entertainment. The cats seem to enjoy sunbathing in the outdoor catio or just watching leaves falling and playing with them.I hesitated to come here reading some reviews about guests mishandling cats without any staffs stopping them. That didn’t happen during my visit. I’d be upset if it did though. But at least for this visit I had a good time and will come again to support the good cause.
Cute place to chill and hang out with cats. The staff were friendly. There were lots of cats just dont expect them to be cuddly. They are mostly in their own worlds being cats. The front section has a variety of coffee and tea options.
The concept is cool but the staff is very rude and the experience is over priced!I came twice, once with my 11Y daughter and while the cats were fun, the food sucked and was pricy, and staff were not kind. When I came with my 6 years old they didnt let her in, cause she is too young according to their rules. You can imagine the disappointment of my cute girl! This place takes it self way too seriously, they offer domestic cats to pet, not tigers, jagurs, or a very fragile and rare animal. Courtesy, flexibility, and customer service should be a priority especially when charging so much!
I love cats, and by extension, cat cafes. Entry is discounted on Wednesdays ($15/p). Arrive on time to enjoy the whole hour!Cafe has 3 floors and many many cats. Some of them love playing (toys provided at the cafe) and some others just like chilling. You can pet, but respectfully. You cant lift the cats, as tempting as it may be.One thing I liked about this cat cafe is that their cats are actually adoptable, and their cafe serves as a place to interact with a cat that you might be interested in adopting. We didnt try any drinks, but apparently you can bring them into the cattery (at your own risk, cats will get curious about your sweet drinks).
Such a fun experience! The cats were so friendly and adorable. Cats and wine… what more could you want?!
The kitties are soooo cute, there’s so many and they have such a large space to play and get away from humans if they need to. Also they make a mean match latte. They also have a book you can draw and add a note to which has some hilarious pictures in it.
Such a wonderful cat Cafe. The food was good but a little basic. The Cats however were incredible I wanted to take them all home with me. I admire the work this Cafe is doing to find these kitty cats their forever homes. I want to go back soon with my daughter.
Interesting experience in this unique place. The cafe part is separated from the cat area.If you decide to enter the cat area, you ll nee to take off your shoes, wear clean slippers ( provided). Its two floors and the cats are wondering around freely.Friendly staff, joyful atmosphere.
It’s a fun place. You can order drink first and bring it in to the room. You can hang your jackets and have to take off your shoes. When you get into a room there’s down stair too. Beverages were good and playing with cats were really fun. People were nice too! I recommend you if you love cats!🫶🏻🐈🐈⬛
It was my first time attending this café, and the manager on duty was unprofessional. The one thing I will say is that she was kind enough to gave us a pass, even though we came in a day late. As soon as we walked into the store, she greeted us, asked for our name and reservations. Unfortunately , due to the loud noise of the café brewing, my sister did not hear the manager asking for The spelling of her name. So when my sister repeated her name, She replied by saying “I said spell it”. Her response alone already bothered me. Then she explained that we came a day late for our reservation. she was going to see what she could do. Due to my sisters disability, she really wanted to enter this place, cats are therapeutic for her and she was already feeling uncomfortable. As I was privately talking to my sister about the manager’s attitude, her coworker immediately let her know, as soon she walked out of the cat room. I thought that was also very unprofessional of him. Especially, because it was a private conversation. But he chose to blatantly do it in front of us. In this case, what he should’ve done was mind his business. The manager then proceeded over to us with an attitude now, shrugged her shoulders, pressing her lips her shoulders and said, “she was trying to figure out a plan for us, but that since I thought she had an attitude, oh well.” then she tells us that she’s a manager, this was her voice, she has a monotone voice. She continued by telling us that she will allow us 20 minutes. At this time, it’s 12:40pm. The reservation was originally for 1 o’clock, the day before. As a courtesy, she gave us 20 minutes for being late, which made my sister very happy. But this is also a $50 reservation appointment. Which I didn’t believe was not fair, but we took it.Again, she reminded me that I was late and we were at fault for being late. At this point, we are going back-and-forth with each other and talking over each one another. Then she states and I quote, “Ma’am it is early in the morning, I haven’t had any breakfast, I’m tired and, this is a customer service job. You have to understand that this is a customer service job and the associates work hard to serve the people”.I completely understand. That this is a customer service job. Not at any moment did I disagree with her. In this case as a customer she did not make me feel welcomed. She also explained that she was tired and then she didn’t have any breakfast. Respectfully , that is not my problem that she didn’t have breakfast or that she was tired. The only thing I cared about in that moment was her attitude. She was unprofessional and rude. We were the only two people of color at this café. I did not hear her speak to any other person after me that way.We will be returning back to this café, because in the end, it was a nice and calming environment. I hope that the next time we come in, we have a better experience.
CAT CAFE!A cafe and also a cat adoption centre. To play with the cats, its $20 an hour. Its located behind a glass mirror at the end of the cafe.Staff are just AMAZING PEOPLE! Super sweet and friendly and you can feel their love for the cats. Before entering, they will brief you on all the protocols. Everyone was wearing a mask and the place is spotless!Did not order any food as we came after dinner but the cakes on display looks amazing! If you love the cats, you can fill up an adoption form after. The staff are a wealth of knowledge if you have any questions. If you wanna adopt or just want to play with adorable friendly cats, this is the place for you!
Very cozy place. The staff are very nice, and the cats are just adorable. Whole cafe is cat themed, and theres about 20 cats around the establishment. A few of them are grouchy, but they’re friendly for the most part. Food was mediocre, the focus is more on the cats.
Adorable and docile cats who are all up for adoption! lots of comfy space for the cats to play and explore although no actual café seating in the cat area. Ive been to 3 cat cafés in London and this one had some of the most chill cats Ive seen. however all the food and drinks were quite expensive ($9.50 for a pot of tea!) and none of it was included in the entry price so didnt get any. go on a Wednesday for $5 discount, and try and go either morning or late afternoon/evening when the cats are most active.
This place is awesome! Love the cute cats you can adopt. The cats are friendly and cute and super adorable! This place really loves cats and they take care of them so well. The cafe is clean. Great food too. You can eat it in or outside the cat petting area. This is a great place to check out in the LES area
I went in here as my birthday gift since I love cats, but the cafe for my taste was a little too expensive and even to go and see the cats was pretty expensive as well. 20/hr which isn’t a reasonable price when the cats would most likely just be asleep or be with their caretakers half the time. Felt like they were just hogging them to themselves which was annoying since we paid to go and pet and play with them. There was a lot of rules as of going in where we can’t pick them up etcetc which is understandable but it was frustrating when half the time the caretakers would just sit there looking at us in silence and just playing with the cats themselves. It was pretty awkward. Anyway, in terms of food it was good but it was too small and pretty expensive. Wouldn’t recommend to anyone wanting to go and see cats/or if they love them as much as I do. They’re only getting 3 stars because I love cats, my bf took me here as a gift, and the food was good. Other than that, everything was eh. The employees seem to not do anything in the cat section but just talk to each other or be on their phones or just hog the cats to themselves lol.
Adorable Cat Cafe, the likes you rarely see outside of Japan. Cafe is cute and cozy with a nice atmosphere, and the cats are on three levels for your enjoyment. If we could have adopted any we would have (live across the country) but our 8 year old who watched Japan vlogs with me was absolutely infatuated and excited to be there.
Lovely cats! my friend and i ventured into this establishment for a beautiful evening full of kitties and food, and boy did we sure receive that. there was not one, but THREE different areas to frolic with the cats in, and the food/drinks were delicious. wonderful cats! glorious okonomiyaki! very friendly staff! i shall return!
This is my first and last to be here. I would not recommend any of my friends to come, There are not as many cats as I imagined (Probably less than 15 cats). You cant really interact with them here. They’re either hiding from you or sleeping. only a few of them let u pet them, there is no food provided to interact with the cats. And last, the toys are really cheap quality. So the overall experience was really boring.
This was my first time visiting a cat cafe and it was amazing!! There are three rooms (one outdoors) with lots of friendly kitties. It takes a little bit of time for them notice and be comfortable with you but once they are, they will play and snuggle with everyone.
If you are an avid lover of furry friends and cute cats please look no further than Koneko. This cafe offers food and drinks in the outside room but inside the back is where the fun is at. There are an abundance of cute cats whom can be adopted if you fit the requirements. To see these cats, you would have to make a reservation for a timetable. Most of the time it’s flexible. These cats are very cute and sociable. It is so fun to play with them and pet them. However since many of them have just came from the outside, some may not be too friendly or would sleep all day. If you would like to adopt a cat please come to visit. The workers are all nice and loving people too!
The cats are on the younger side as most are 10 months old. The cats on the 1st floor are very energetic and toy-friendly. The ones downstairs are a little bit older, not much, and tend to be more chill and laid back. Regarding food, the okonomiyaki was well-seasoned but thinner than regular ones even though the price is similar so I took a star off. I liked that they had alternative milk options for lactose-intolerant customers dor drinks.
Their home made pies and cakes are the best! Very hospitable and professional staff. You can book a meet and greet with the cats in a separate room and patio.
This cat cafe was amazing!!! The cats are so cute and sociable. They have places to lounge with the cats and they also have a nice outdoor area! For lunch, my friend and I got the okonomiyaki, the veggie gyozas, and the chocolate cake, and it was all really yummy! The chocolate cake was especially decedent. We also got a latte and a hot chocolate, which were delicious. The barista who was working was super sweet and talked to us about the cats and the cafe in general. I don’t know her name but she was awesome! I totally recommend checking this place out, it’s very peaceful and nice.
A great experience for those looking to spend time with about 20 cats up for adoption before picking a drink and item for lunch. The brunch was a great and fairly priced. The cats were all types of characters. Go before the 1pm slot in my opinion as they were a bit tired out.
This is a great way to zen out for an afternoon. There are no kittens here just fully grown cats but they are friendly fun and a ball of laughs. You can pet and play with almost a dozen cats for an hour. If your not allowed to own or thinking of adopting I highly recommend coming here. On top of the cats they have a great little Cafe with matcha choices. Parking can be a pain just be prepared to pay for a meter. Buy your tickets ahead of time as you might not be able to play with the cats as a walk-in!
I didnt get any consumables, and the entry fee for the cat room seems steep ($20 per person--regardless of age or time spent), but the look on my daughters face was worth it. Food and drink are allowed in the cat rooms, and they offer adoption at a reasonable fee ($125). All cats are spayed/neutered, and have had all of their shots.
Huge hit with teenagers- adorable cats available for adoption. They are well socialized, and some are playful. Not as engaging as I had hoped but a few cats had a playful personality. Cafe staff was wonderful and the food was delicious!
The place is a cat heaven! I love the place so much! The cats are so cute and Wonderful, the staff are really nice too.I really fell for a black cat named Seitan, the food is also great, I had the okonomiyaki (it was really good) and matcha latte while my friend got the same drink and peanut butter miso cookie which is just chewy and delicious!
Kitty!!! cats are cute and food is good, so this was SO worth the 5 hours on the train to get here.I cannot stress enough how cute these cats are, though. I just wanna squish their lil faces!! but when I got home, my own cats kept looking at me like I betrayed them.
If you love cats this is the place for you!!! A little cat cafe who give a last home to a rescued cats whos searching a home. You can enjoy a little time with them, pet and play with them (And adopt them too if youre interested), or just enjoy their vibes and relax, you can have a drink in the space where the cats are. Theres tea and coffee and other things that youll enjoy. Two important things: you need to do a reservation in advance (1 hour or more, if you want) in Konekos webpage, and remember that cats are not like dogs, give them their space and let them to know you. Ill surely come back!
Super well cared for cats! All the employees are super friendly. Lots of space for the cats to play and explore. The matcha latte was super tasty. I can’t wait to come back again. One of my favorite cat cafes.I got the whisker Wednesday deal so my visit cost $15.The matcha latte was $6 and I wasn’t charged extra for using soy milk.Great experience! Super clean and great music choices
Very lovely place, we got the brunch deal which came with a breakfast item and non-alcoholic drink plus a one hour reservation with the cats. There were several cats, all well behaved and friendly. The two workers were very nice and answered all our questions. I would definitely go back and recommend to anyone.
First of all I didn’t get the name of the barista, but I must say the coffee was the best coffee I’ve had in years!!! The staff were super friendly they made us feel very comfortable the service was amazing !! And prices are very fair :-) I also recommend the raspberry cheesecake and caramel iced coffee. :-) The establishment is very clean and the cats were super adorable,if you’re a cat person this is the place for you !!!
Such a cute concept to have a cat café, and the cats are adoptable too!Unfortunately we werent aware about the reservation, but you can reserve a time slot to go into a room to play with the cats! However we got a drink and it was still delicious, with an amazing atmosphere and friendly staff! If you live nearby, they have a card where you can collect stamps (Im assuming) and after a certain amount you get a free drink!
Today I went to meet the beautiful cats, but it seemed very strange to me that the cats were ALL very numb, literally no matter how much you touched them, some did not move. It was worrying
Went on a Thursday and they had a free drink special with your ticket to go inside the cat play area. It got a little crowded but all the cats were really chill. I guess cause theyre so used to people. The little patio area was the best place to play with the cats.
Amazing experience. We did the 1 hour cat nap and although most kitties were sleeping, a few of them were eager to play. A must do for cat lovers!
The place is great and the cats are very adorable. I loved every minute there. Its a shame there is no bathroom for customers.
This place has amazing coffee and the barista was super friendly. The cats are sooooo adorable and friendly, and they each have their own little personalities. Theres several rooms to roam, including an outdoor space. There are also tunnels through the walls and floors so the cats can move around uninterrupted. Its so beautiful and a necessary visit for any cat lover.
If you love cats and havent been to this place your missing out. The cats are so sweet and filled with personality. Everywhere you look there is something related to cats 🐈 which is such a treat. Will definitely be coming back sooner then later. Thanks for hosting me and my family
I have been interested in visiting a cat cafe for quite some time and decided to visit this establishment. When making my reservation, I observed that the majority of the cats were asleep, which was unfortunate as it limited the number of cats available for interaction. Furthermore, the cats present were primarily adults, and I did not observe any kittens. The allotted time for the visit is one hour, and I found that towards the end of the hour, the cats began to awaken and exhibit more playful behavior. However, this period of increased activity was insufficient. If I were to visit again, I would likely make a reservation for an earlier time. Additionally, it is strongly recommended to make a reservation in advance.
Fantastic little cat cafe. great staff cozy cafe . The cat area was 22.50 per person for thirsty purrsday/Friday. There are 3 levels of cat areas, the second level being a backyard catio.
Great place in a quieter part of NYC we visited for an hour, had great drinks and snacks. Staff was friendly and knowledgeable. Facility was clean and comfortable for the cats. Great vibe, recommend. Also they are adoptable!
The cats are cute, but the staff was kinda unfriendly and it was stressful. I felt a bit bad for disturbing the cats, as many were sleeping or uninterested in the toys.
Koneko is the place to be if you like cats. A rainy day in NYC? Go here. You can see and feel that the people working there love the cats. They keep an eye on them and know everything about them. Such a lovely place for the cats to hang out. Lots of great sleeping spots, but also plenty of toys to play with. Also important, the food is great! Try the gyoza! Absolutely amazing!
Very well run and well maintained cat cafe. Its super cute, minimalistic decor but chic. The entry fee is a bit steep I have to admit - $20, but it does go to a good cause. The food is not bad; between my friend and I, we had the okonomiyaki 👍🏼, waffle with fruit 👍🏼, udon 👎🏼 (not enough protein or toppings on it... basically noodles and broth, expected more), matcha latte 👍🏼 If you want to get something to eat I recommend the okonomiyaki the most out of all the choices I had - pretty tasty and relatively filling. The cats are great of course and you can tell that the staff really care about them! I would not recommend this spot for kids unless your kids are acclimated to handling cats/animals gently. Also at the reviews rating it lowly because you have to pay to play with the cats, what do you expect? To play with them for free? LOL. If it was free this place would not be able to stay open, plus this is NYC - nothing is free lmao. Anyways, worth checking out and the money goes to a good cause! The staff are very friendly too!
The first time I came in here was not for the cats. Its that chai that they make in house for their chai lattes. If the door is open, the smell makes it all the way to the street. OMG - if you dont see the kitties and relive your Tokyo Cat Cafe dreams, get the chai latte. 😸Its a chill vibe here. You will need to reserve your cat visit but walk-ins are possible (at your own risk). They are quite accommodating here and the staff is always friendly.Worth the visit if you are in the area. 🐾
I wanted to snuggle some cats, so dragged my husband to Koneko... And he loved it, even though hes a biiig dog person. When you enter Koneko, you can order at the bar from the menu and based on how busy the place is, you can wait for your order or you can go inside the area with cats and they will let you know, when your order is ready. The entrance fee was around $12 per person for an hour and the cat area is divided into three rooms, one is outside area, thats closed during winter. When you enter, you get stamp on your hand and slippers, you can also bring along your drink. Theres plenty of cat toys and cats to play with, some more shy that others, so you have to be patient. The lady taking care of the cats was veeery talkative, which is not a bad thing when you want to get some info, but we just wanted to relax in company of those fluffy beans.
Really nice space with two rooms and an outside area for the cats to play and relax in the sun. Chill kitties and friendly staff. It took me about 30 minutes but it seems I made a friend. Its very important to remember that cats are independent creatures with their own wants and needs, they dont know you paid money and they are just living their lives, not being there to entertain you. Dont impose yourself on them and watch their behaviour; you can tell when a cat is playful or friendly.P.S. the cats caretaker told us that 6 animals were adopted the previous week, which is amazing news!
We visited the cafe a rainy July day. The cats are cute and staff kind. If you love cats and want to spend time witb them this is your place. 20 usd entrance fee seemed overcharged, however the childre really liked it
My husband’s a huge cat person and I’m not as much. This is the perfect compromise. We’ve been here 4-5 times the past 3 years and it’s always been a great experience. The staff is very friendly and attentive. There’s also lots of space (2 different stories) for the cats to roam around. It’s always clean. They also offer a stamp card for visits and drinks. Drinks are fairly priced. Never tried out the food but there’s always next time!
This place is incredible! They have great food and adorable cats for adoption. The strawberry matcha drink was very good and their Nutella waffle was delicious. The cat space was very large and you could tell they care for the cats a lot :3
SUCH a cute place ! These kitties are obviously loved to the max and are so comfortable and happy- service and friendliness was amazing, Shaquana gave an awesome drink recommendation for my mood and the cattery guides Amelia and Barbara were so enthusiastic and passionate about the kitties life and well being. Will definitely visit the next time I’m in NYC!
I and a friend made reservations for 8 pm on a Friday night. We were pretty lucky because the cats started becoming more active shortly after we arrived. There are a few young cats who are mildly playful, but otherwise most of these cats seem indifferent to visitors. They are very much attached to their caretakers and it gets frustrating especially when they move between floors and the cats follow. Ive been to one other cat cafe and the cats there were generally very young and therefore more energetic and engaged. Their diverse selection of pastries looked very appetizing, though I didnt get to try any.
Let me talk about the food before i talk about the cats. The food and the drink in the cafe is expensive for no reason and the bake goods taste horrible. like so horrible and its not even worth it. you have to reserve if you want to play with the cats. Theres three floor levels that the cats and people have access to. Some cats are lazy while the other ones are playful. picking the cat up is prohibited, wearing shoes is prohibited (they provide you w inside slippers) and you can take pics and videos but no flash. Dont stress them out, just watch them from nearby and let them smell you first before you pat them. they love their toys! visiting this cafe was worth it.
I went here not so long ago and I didn’t know you had to make reservations to be able to see the cats, but ig it was my fault for not checking and it’s 20$ an hour. So I ended up not seeing the cats because they were full until 6pm and I came early at about 2pm. I came here with two other people and we just decided to sit and try their food but tbh it was pretty bad. My friend and I ordered a bread with spinach but it was kinda sour. Then my sister ordered a chai latte I believe and she said it tasted spicy? yeah lol and then I ordered a strawberry matcha and it was pretty flavorless. We also ate some dumplings and cake. The dumplings were okay and the cake was sort of bland and not as good as I expected. The cafe was also very full at that time and the baristas were very busy and ignored my sister when she tried to order and went on to another customer even though we didn’t finish ordering. After all we decided not to come back again after spending a lot on the bad food.
Visited here on a whim during a day trip to NYC and absolutely loved it. I was a bit skeptical at first because I was surprised when the cafe was technically separate from the cat area, but that actually made it even more enjoyable! The cat area was very relaxed, with comfortable furniture and bean bag chairs to sit on while playing with with the kitties. The staff was extremely friendly and really knew the cats - each of them has a backstory/personality that the staff explains to you upon entrance! The cats have a lot of space to hang out in and can move from room to room; theres even a private room for them to go into if theyre feeling like theyve had too much interaction. Its also very clean and tidy - you wear your socks or they offer you slippers while youre inside the cat area to decrease any dirt coming in from outside and they also have you sanitize your hands when you go in. I would definitely visit here again!
I believe this is the only cat Cafe open during covid in NYC. $20 for an hour per person, which is a pretty good deal and $15 Wednesdays. The cats are so cute and friendly to play with and the staff is very polite.
The cat cafe was very fun and interactive also the cats were very friendly to pet. Would definitely come back to experience this again.
Love the cat cafe and the staff. Everyone so friendly and nice to talk with. I appreciate the concept and really enjoyed the visit. It is a great cause and a great visit.
I came for the cats, and the cats looked pretty cute. Two of them were playful while the rest were really indifferent with people. Petting them was comforting, but I wish theyd play more. Theyre so cute!!
The cats were very well behaved and relaxed. They all seem very unbothered and are not very playful and energetic. However, the service for food and drinks were not ideal. The baristas were also very rude when we asked for a simple change in our drinks. They made us feel very unwelcome and after our session with the cats, instead of ordering food we opted to leave. The cat’s caretakers were very nice and friendly unlike the baristas, they were talkative and informative on the cats. The cats and their caretakers were the best part of the experience.
MUST MAKE RESERVATIONS TO SEE CATS. Will be turned away - it’s 1:50 pm - we took lots of public transportation and a long, hot walk. No reservations until 5 pm. We are here from Louisiana and planned to see the Empire State Building tonight. THIS IS THE ONLY THING MY DAUGHTER WANTED TO DO.😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
Cute little cat cafe, a little disappointed with the lack of food options. multiple food items were unavailable and only like 2 slices of cake were left. there were 2 floors of cats, a little difficult to interact with some cats since half of them were sleeping but it’s no one’s fault. just wish there were more food options since the place closes at 9 but lots of items were not available.
Nice, clean, quaint place. $20 per person per hour, except on Wednesdays, 15 per person per hour. The cats were all very cute, 6 to 10 months old. At 5pm, all the cats were sleeping, save for two Grey cats called Tofu and Tempeh.
The cats are so well taken care of and sweet and the food was good! Overall a nice experience. I hope all of the kitties find a nice home!
It was a lovely experience but it was not all that enjoyable the fact that there was a group of photographers making a ruckus. Not only did I feel that they were a pitch too loud with the kittens and cats around, but they took half of our time away with the cats. Snatching the kittens away, with promise of returning it to us after theyve taken their photos and videos. Koneko shouldve blocked off the time if they knew such an event was going to take place. Overall wouldve been a 5 star experience.
Absolutely relaxing place to come for rest. My second time coming here and the service here is always friendly and welcoming. The cats here are also all very friendly and cute. I definitely recommend this place if you looking for somewhere to relax after a long day. Make sure to make your reservations beforehand too!
A little pricey, but the payment goes towards the care of the cats. I went on a day when one free drink was included with the cat visit, so that was very nice! They had sake, wine, and I think beer as well. The cats were all in great health and the facilities were very clean. I have a slight cat allergy and didnt have any problems while visiting. Cats are adoptable and the people working there are wonderful and very willing to answer questions and provide information. I hope to be able to come back again!
This place is perfect. The cafe has amazing coffee and tea, and the Cattery is the best place to hang out for any cat lover. The kitties are SO sweet. So many are playful and pettable. Really such a fun experience. I make sure I stop in whenever Im in NYC.Literally the only negative is that I cant take every single cat home with me.
Sanji my beloved I wish I could adopt you 😭
Ordered a iced scarlet tea. Very good!! Mostly came for the cats.CAT RULES: it is $20 to pet the cats. Must have a reservation. If there is room they can take you as a walk in. You cannot pick them up or corner them. Basically you just have to sit there and let them come to you. Cats Rule! Ha ha overall I felt it was not worth the $20 to go spend an hour with the cats. I left after 15 min. I cant comment on the food since I didnt eat. There
Went here last week, I love cats but unfortunately I am not around them a lot so I had to go here!!! It was so worth it, I will go here again and I will try the food too ^_^Beautiful cats as well
The atmosphere in here was nice and relaxing to enjoy with the wide variety of adoptable cats! I had a matcha latte and it was nice to be able to bring in while you played. I enjoyed seeing the outdoor patio where a lot of cats were sunbathing or sleeping. Overall i had a very nice experience and would go back again!
Cats beyond cute!!! First time visiting a cat cafe and did not disappoint just wish there was more time to spend with these angels😿
It is very comfortable, but the ground floor is a bit cold, and there are fewer cats, causing everyone to gather on the first floor. The cats are very comfortable and cute.
You went to Clinton Street Bakery but theres an hour to hour and half wait?! Now youre looking for a cafe to chill in. This is the place to check into. Forget the hip looking cafe across the street- its crowded, youll be hard pressed to find seats, and worst of all its jot and suffocating. Koneko is run by very chill friendly people, they have an excellent choice of coffee/tea/drinks, and if youre up for it, soothe yourself in the cat area in the back (but it costs $20/person per hour).
The cats here were extremely cute, soft, and clean. This cafe is well kept and if you don’t enjoy dining with cats that’s okay as they are kept in a different section from the cafe itself. The workers are very nice to their customers (and to the cats). The food served here was beyond my expectations and I will say personally that it is worth every penny.Come here with friends or family if you like a quiet spot, you will have lot of fun here. Trust me.Extra note: I personally like how they allow the cats to be adopted to help them find a forever home and it’s all the more reason to come here and support Koneko cafe.
What an awesome time.Didn’t know about scheduling cat time but now I definitely need to return.Coffee was amazing and staff was friendlyStayed here for a couple hours talking to a friend and never felt rushed
The kittens were very well maintained and the caretaker was vigilant to make sure the kittens were played with safely. They were shy little guys, but so very sweet; it was difficult to leave without taking one home. All food and drinks purchased in the coffee shop area are able to be brought in to the “cattery.” We went on a Friday when they have a special that comes with a complementary wine, sake, or beer with a one hour reservation.
Great place to tale our granddaughter. She loved playing with the cats. To set expectations, it is $25 per hour per person for a reservation to go into the cat rooms and play with them.
I was here for cats and cats only and it was an wonderful experience. I came here with an friend to hangout after school. The cats were adorable the place was chill the workers were nice and made the experience much more enjoyable.
Went for my friend’s birthday. We all had a lovely time. The kittys were so cute
Its cute place. The workers are super friendly. But its overpriced. One slice of cheesecake was $10 and it was pretty small. It tasted like any other cheesecake. You have to make a reservation online first to play with the cats which is $25. I didnt know that so I pretty disappointed that couldnt see the cats. I personally wouldnt come back.
There is a 20-25 cats in this shop, all waiting for a nice home to be adopted. Please if you can, DO it. Cats will always give you love
While Koneko as a concept is nice, having lived with cats for my whole life, the Konekos cats seem overly stimulated and exhausted from contact. Looking at the crowd during my visit, its city people and tourists that approach cats like dogs, so maybe thats understandable. Still, the cats here all showed reflexes to shy away from the crowd when touched, swat at hands or even when thrown things at. Nonetheless, the attendees seem to think this is normal behavior and leave happy. That explains the contrast between my experience here as a decidedly cat person being a little worried about how they often refrain from human contact, and the sky-high reviews here on Maps.I dont mean to disrespect the care the employees here surely bring to the cats. But there needs to be less people around, or more cats to spread out the attending crowd.
All the staff are very knowledgeable about the cats, and they were more than happy to help you engage with them.
We went during the little kids hours and had the worst experience. Our kids were so excited to see the cats but we had to cut our experience short because we were being haunted down by one of the girls who works there. She was even yelling at the kids. The girl by the entrance had such a negative attitude as well. I would not recommend, such an unfriendly space.
Love the idea of being able to play with the cats and adopt them. Staff was very nice and knowledgeable. Facilities are clean and comfortable. Would definitely recommend visiting if you love cats! I guess the only gripe is having to spend 20 bucks just to play with them. Understand it’s a cost needed to keep the lights on but seems a little steep
If you like cats, this is your place. The staff is super nice and theres two areas to interact with the kitties. They make their own desserts here as well which are delicious. Very good coffee drinks as well. A nice spot to relax.
Very nice coffee and great to see the cats chilling in the cattery. Didn’t go in, but the space is great and the cats look healthy and happy!
Very cool cat cafe. All types of drinks are served, including alcoholic. The staff is welcoming and insightful. Plenty of kitties to brighten up your day! Funds generated through ticket sales go back into the organization to support the kitties. We went on Thursday, each ticket includes a drink of your choice.
The cats are so cute and sweet I love this place and cant wait to go back.
I was very excited about visiting this place after I saw an episode of “My cat from Hell”, and today, I must say it was really disappointing. After expending almost 40 bucks in coffee and pastries for 2, a rude lady told me that to visit the kitties I should have an appointment and must pay a $20 fee and limited to one hour. Visiting this place was one of my reasons for flying to NY, and I left very disappointed.Burnt coffee, good pastries, $20 extra each and appointment needed to hangout with the kitties 👎🏻😿😾
Amazing atmosphere and amazing food, but its really pricey, in my opinion. I love cats with my whole heart but to come here and to pay 25$ per person just to look at them and maybe pet one if youre lucky, is not really worth it. It was interesting to experience once, but I dont think Ill be back.
On leap day, I wanted to do something special, so I went to spend time with cats. Koneko café has beautiful cats and kittens, and the place has comfortable seatings while we pet the cats. I really liked it better than Meow Parlor, because Meow Parlor had only low seatings, which were uncomfortable to me.The reason I gave 4 stars is that, later, I bought a slice of carrot cake for $9.5, and after one bite, I returned it to the server because it had too much cinnamon (should be labelled cinnamon bread, not carrot cake). I expected some kind of compensation. Instead, the server apologized that I didnt like it and my $9.5 was spent on nothing there. I was disappointed but didnt want to fuss about it.The latté, though, was very delicious. The whole atmosphere is very nice, so I do recommend it.
What a shame. Took the kids here on Thurs evening during their special kid time to visit the cats. The staff was very aloof/standoff-ish. In addition, ALL 15 cats were asleep the entire time. And I’m not just saying resting…. DEAD asleep. No amt of pets or even tail pulling would wake these cats. Asked everyone why they were so lethargic. Everyone had the same tagline… “They get sleepy after lunch.” 1) This was 530pm 2) Having grown up with multiple cats — indoor, outdoor, farm — for over decades, I’ve NEVER seen cats so sleepy. I can only guess they were given something “extra” in their lunch for kid day. Just a waste of money, but worse, a waste of children’s actual joy and excitement to try and connect with the cats.
Cats were friendly and loving. Would recommend going earlier in the day
Wonderful Japanese Cat Cafe with many small tables and a cat sanctuary at the back. The matcha latte was very good and the spicy edamame was a wonderful pairing. There were souvenirs available for purchase besides the small menu. The cat experience was $20 per hour but the employees allowed my daughter extra time as they were not busy at the time we went. Would recommend the food and the experience!
Cat rooms are separate from the front of the cafe and its expensive to enter the rooms (reservations are $25 to book for an hour), almost all cats were avoiding touch, no treats to give to cats, employees were nice but one employee seemed eager to get you in and out quickly, I didnt try the food from the cafe
My visit to the cat cafe was unfortunately far from the enjoyable experience I had anticipated. Despite notifying them in advance about our delayed arrival due to unforeseen traffic related to Hanukkah celebrations, the staff was unaccommodating and displayed rudeness. The cafes small and cramped space didnt align with the cat cafe ambiance I had envisioned, and the absence of even a basic coffee or tea offering at the relatively high cost left me dissatisfied. Our $80 expenditure granted us a view of overstimulated cats in an overcrowded environment, causing the felines discomfort and leading them to hide for most of our visit. The overall impression was one of disappointment, with the establishment appearing more focused on profit than the well-being of both its cats and customers. I would caution others against supporting this location due to its strict policies, lack of customer service, and the overall overpricing of the experience.
The cats are perfect, the dessert (matcha crack pie) was lovely and dense and perfect, the cats are perfect, and the vibes are great. Did I mention how perfect the cats are???
Great experience❤️ Cat rooms are not crowded so there is always available kitty. 100% recommendations
The overall experience is a solid 4.7/5 but Im going to round it up to a 5.TLDR: the cats are very passive, clean environment, cute adoptable kitties5 star reason: The cats. They are adorable. Theyre all relatively young kitties, and some are more sociable than others. Do watch out for their body language because they are quite obvious when they dont want to be touched. They wont attack you, so dont worry. In fact, its quite obvious that they are very cautious and downright scared of you, but it was cute enough to watch them. The upstairs cattery is very well presented. Theres a homey feel to it, and it was pleasant watching the kitties rest on their cat beds. Most kitties here are either sleeping or observing the main cafe area, which is barricaded from the cattery for sanitary reasons. The middle cattery is a patio, and its closed during the colder months. The walls are high and seems to be able to keep the cats in. There are none of the obstacle courses for cats, probably to keep them inside the patio. The lower cattery is quite bare to say the least. Its a dimly lit room with cafe jazz playing in the background. A lot of the kitties here seem to be hiding in corners or up high. Sometimes you can witness a playfight between littermates or bonded pairs. The cats down here are a bit more active. The only thing I have to say, though, is that there doesnt seem to be great insulation. I saw a few cats huddled around a heater, probably to stay warm. The entire procedure of entering and exiting the cattery is quite well enforced. You line up, enter a room to store and take off your shoes, and then enter the cattery. I suppose this is for keeping the cats away from food and to prevent any pathogens from entering the cattery via our shoe. I think thats a pretty great preventive method. The cafe area is not as much an attraction as the cattery. They offer the standard cafe drinks and some Japanese snacks and pastries. You can bring the drinks inside the cattery surprisingly.
It looks like a cute little place. So we made the trip for the sole purpose of going there. The sign says they close at nine and Google says they close at nine but at 8:12 PM when we went to walk in they said they were closed. Doors were locked by 814.You may want to call them before you go
Delicious tea & cookie! The kitties are well looked after & very sweet! I didnt want to leave!
Nice staff, clean spaces but not enough kitties. We came and only 2 levels open (not outdoor area) There were maybe 11-15 cats between the 2 levels but way more people which wasnt the best ratio. Many of the cats were already sleeping or waiting for food ( after we left) so there wasnt as much engagement as we hoped.
Rude staff; called me back 3-4 times to adopt a cat and kept asking me to reschedule an appointment and everytime I showed up with a cat carrier they sent me backExtremely rude front staffMy matcha latte (pictured here) took 10 mins to prep
This place is so cute! I wish I could adopt all these babies right up. Ive been here a few times now, its the best when you happen to go when there is not much people because you can get many cats all to yourself. I will say when its busy, it can be a bit hard to have a whole kitty to yourself as you are sharing them with the other guests. Still soo cute overall Im in love! *Editing to include pictures*
People that care about animals. You walk in and it’s immediately a good vibe. easy check in, nice people, and then you go to the cat room. it’s nice that they have a set list of rules to make sure all the cats are safe. The cats are all rescues and they’re all adoptable. After your hour you can get food, and it’s so good! 10/10 would go again.
Its crowded considering you pay $25 for the experience. There were probably twice as many people as cats. It was a weird situation where people were competing for the cats attention. If there were half as many people it might be worth $25, but given how expensive it is, Id expect more space / cats for that price. Staff was all great.
Great little cafe where you can spend time with some kitties! I had the Okonomiyaki and it was simply amazing.
My friend and I went in for a 12pm reservation. The food is amazing. But there were at least 12 people looking to see the cats 2/8 cats that I saw were awake. The mood was just too mellow, with an hour paid to be with the cats you expect a lot of them to be roaming around wanting to play or be friendly.Maybe it was the day or the temperature but I’ve been to multiple cat cafés, and this one was just not it.
I came in to see the cats. It was 30 dollars for a small piece of cheesecake and rice crispy square and 2 small drinks. Then on top of that we couldn’t see the kitties without a reservation. 2 tickets cost 50$ just to see the cats. It wasn’t worth it in the slightest. Too pricey. How are you supposed to adopt the cats if you have to pay that much to see them.
This is the best cat cafe in NYC. They are partnered with an amazing cat shelter. We ended up adopting two Russian Blues from here. Love it
Cute cats, the rules for them are reasonable, though they charge 25$ to be in the same room with them. The baristas were rude and unfriendly, overall I left with an unpleasant feeling.
- most of the cats hide- don’t bring your kids … esp if they act like kids- staff isn’t very nice - inside. The staff at the bar are awesome.- don’t tell them if you already have a cat. 1) they don’t care 2) they think you’re stupid for coming even though it’s super expensive.- the 3 stars I gave go to the bar staff. If it was just about the staff in the back, I’d give zero.
Yes, the staff is too friendly. But 25.00$ for each person to cuddle with a cat? I think it’s too much!!
Excellent place with a good vibes and delicious coffee. I always stop by here whenever I order flowers at Flordel florist which is 2 blocks away
My daughter just had her 18th birthday party at Koneko (15 guests). It was perfect. The site is gorgeous, the staff is welcoming and Ben made it a perfect day for us all. The cats made it even more perfect! A wonderful spot for a party or special event.
Excellent cat cafe. Friendly staff, delicious bite and great coffee. Wifi was fast too. Cats were very.. Cat-like. Playful and introverted, as usual =^_^=
Great place for cat lovers, first interaction with cats and dates! Reserve a spot for a drink and an hour with 🐈 😻!!
Overpriced! Reservations are shared time not just you. Which kind of defeats the point of a reservation. Also, the workers engaged more with the cats than we could. Pretty crowded, which would have been fine if I hadn’t spent so much money on reservations. Cats are adorable and of course deserve a home but I WOULD NOT recommend this place to ANYBODY until they either 1) lower their prices or 2) actually reserve for their reservations.
Workers are rude and act like they’re doing you a favor by letting you touch the cats. They also let a cat with an upper respiratory infection around all the other cats. would not recommend. Also 25 per person for like 2 cats in 1 room surrounded by people.
Unfortunately no gluten free options available, cats are cute.
It is a nice, quiet place with unique pastries and drinks ( pretty expensive) but tastes good. The main event, the cats. My opinion is to go early to play with the cats when they are more active. After a while, they become tired and lazy
Excellent spot, truly Japanese Coffee. I was able to spend an hour with cats and they are adorable!
I was there on Friday, 10/27/23 with two 9 year olds. If the establishment doesn’t want to accept children, they should state that because to pay $25 per child and feel completely unwelcome was terrible. These were kids that grew up with cats, so they knew what to do around cats. However, one rude female staff kept telling them to stop what they were doing. They were not scaring the cats nor were they picking them up, which were 2 rules. She was definitely watching them. She wouldn’t say anything to adult customers but if the kids were doing the same thing as adult customers, she would tell them off in a very rude manner. We ended up leaving 5 minutes early and I refused to buy any drinks or pastries as we were leaving because I felt unwelcome. DO NOT GO THERE WITH CHILDREN!!!
Fab areas for cats, nice they have multiple rooms to be in and places to hide.
Horrible. Went in with the intentions of adopting but I couldn’t even get time with the cats because there were about 15 kids younger than 7 in the cat rooms. 4 adults total. Every time I would pet a cat, the kids would run up and start petting it so I couldn’t. Is this a petting zoo or an adoption center? You need to only let adults in, and you need to significantly reduce the number of people in one time slot. Last time I went, it was mostly adults, but SO crowded. The cats are overstimulated and their true personality doesn’t show. I’ve been to several cat cafes and this one is by far the worst.
$13 for this couple of edemames!!!! Is a scam.. insane overpriced. Reserve in advance otherwise the ride and whatever time and money you invest in coming won’t do. The kitty area for $25 each per person… what in the world??? I guess all that money goes to the kittens, hopefully. Chai was good.
My son and I went to see the cats. Unfortunately we were very disappointed. The cats were all lethargic. We would pet them and their eyes wouldn’t even open. There were a few cats around but at least 50% were so sleepy that my son and i joked about them being in comas. We have a cat and he is old! Our cat has a lot more life then all the cats in this place. We left under the impression that the cats were sedated. I hope we are wrong. We will not return.
Went for the cats. They are adorable but SUPER lazy and were sleeping most of the time. So don’t expect to be playing with them or petting them for a lot of it. Also you cannot pick them up. Decent spot to bring your friends if you love cats!
Its a cat cafe.:) a haven for cat lovers. Wonderfully maintained And the cats are incredible..all cats are for adoption so please please consider adopting.
Not many cats around. Nice cafe but the cats weren’t many and not around how they promote it. It felt very underwhelming. Didnt get to engage with the cats much either. Great staff. I didnt even see 10 cats. Wow. And i left sad because the cats there were black cats and i know that black cats have a stigma for not being adopted so it was a sad feeling.
I didnt get the food here but it smelled delightful. This establishment has clean bathrooms for you to use but only one per person the cats are incredibly sweet but I recommend letting your kids know to be extra careful as cats in general arent good with screaming kids like the last time I went. They were still sweet though even when they were a bit skittish. I recommend wearing socks since you take off your shoes before going in. They have sandals if you dont have socks. 3 areas total for cats to lounge in although the patio I believe it was called closes when it gets too chilly for the cats. It was a great experience cant wait to go again!
I love the place it is so cozy.it is the perfect hangout place to hangout with friends! The cappuccino is the best part!
It was very nice I enjoyed playing with the cats. The price to see the cats was $53.00
Very good oatmilk welcoming people cats r cute
The place was fairly clean, had multiple rooms, but I didnt like walking around in my socks. The cats were fun, playful, and most loved being rubbed. ..I almost left with one.
$25 to not really be able to touch cats. I can play with a stray for free 😭
The cats were super cute and the food is good, even if it’s on the pricey side. It’s nice to play with the cats then sit down to have a small lunch!
Very cute cafe! All the cats are lovely kittens looking to be adopted; the croissants here were delicious. All the staff were super gracious and friendly; the only thing Id say is its kind of expensive (both menu and visiting the cats) and it isnt that big of a menu but since they take such good care of the cats Im sure the money is put to good use.
Its very quiet and peaceful here, and you have a lot of cats to play and hang out with. Its nice if you like cats, especially if you are looking to adopt one, because all of the cats are adoptable. They offer good drinks too, but you cant bring food into the cafe. You can bring drinks though. I like this place a lot.
At $25/person to pet about 5 sleeping cats for 1 hours… absolutely not worth it.I went with my “Little” from NYC’s Big Brothers Big Sisters youth mentorship program bc my Little really wanted to go. So I called to ask if they would be willing to off a discount for the program outing. The person who answered my call was extremely rude, scoffed at the question and said “why would we give you and your little sister a discount?” Clearly wasn’t listening when I was explaining the program.
My daughter and I visited as part of her Make a Wish trip. She had an amazing time! All week its all she talked about. Adorable, friendly cats, cozy, modern Cafe. Very sweet and helpful staff. The cats are adoptable and if we werent from out of state, wed have adopted a black and white cat named Lunchbox!
This review is about email interaction. Im actively seeking a place I can host her 3rd bday party. It has been a difficult task because shes the youngest kid in my circle. All of my friends kids are 10 and up. The question is, how do I celebrate her birthday in a way thats not boring and stuffy for her, but also entertaining to everyone else much older than her? I didnt see an age limit on the site so I reached out. Turns out the age limit is 8. I honestly would not have reached out if that was on the website - three years olds arent for everyone. 🤷 So I suggested they add that on. As a result I got two emails back to back from the place. I didnt read them. Usually when someone emails you twice that quickly, email contents usually arent nice. Ive been there twice before, and the place is nice, the kitties are taken care of. Im not reading two emails sent back to back by staff annoyed that I made a reasonable suggestion.
This place is so adorable. This is my first Kitty cafe and definitely wont be my last. All the cats are well taken care of and available for adoption. The coffee and drinks are pretty good too. Theyve got two floors where you can play with the cats. Definitely worth a visit.
Extremely clean and well organized. My girlfriend has cat allergies and she was fine. I can’t speak to the food as I was too distracted by the feline attraction to order anything. That being said, the cat area was first rate. We went at 7:30 on a Friday and there was only one other couple present during our time slot, so we did not feel in any way cramped. Most of the cats were sleeping, but what do you expect? If you are looking for a place to get your cat fix while supporting a good cause, I’d 100% recommend Koneko.
We really enjoyed our time with the cats ! This is such a good idea !!!!Also one of the cashiers/barista had some kind of Mandelas of cats that she colored, I really think you guys should hang them somewhere because they are so beautiful :) (thank you for giving one to my daughter :))
I went with friends to see the cats that you can play with or adopt. We made appointment on line, if you stop without appointment the wait can be long or they cannot fit you in. Weekend are busy. The price was 20 dollars a person. Great experience to see cat closed to adopted or just have fun. We bought the food item we bought at the Cafe in with us. NO OUTSIDE FOOD. We had a great time.
Super cute cat cafe on the lower east side! I came here on a Friday afternoon because I was feeling kinda depressed and petting cats always makes me feel better. I was able to go to the cat area as a walk-in at 4pm on a Friday but usually they recommend making a reservation. Price is $20 for an hour not including coffee or food. The number of cats vary but when I went there were 16 at the cafe. About 10 or so were out and about that you could see and pet.
The cats were adorable! There were three floors and it was really nice to just chill there for an hour. Koneko seems like they care a lot about their cats (which is very much appreciated) and the staff were all very friendly! Had an amazing time there with my friends.
Coming to this cafe was a fantastic experience! The staff were very friendly, and my party was able to have pleasant conversation with them about cats and other things. The cats were also soft and fun to play with. The food was very good too. Whether you want to play with kitties, or just sip something and have a snack while watching the cats through the glass wall, its a great time.
Went for Friday brunch at 1! Busy in the cafe but not bad in the cat areas. So many cute wonderful cats! Food was great—our drinks were excellent and the okonomiyaki was so good. (Chai was perfect, whoever said it was “too spicy” has never had good chai!) Cats were a little sleepy but that’s not on the cafe; cats sleep 14+ hours a day. :P
I brought my girlfriend and a friend to this place late and the staff was very nice. We did not get any food since we already had dinner plans but when we got into the cat area we noticed it was a bit more dirty than we expected. The cats slept, as cats do however they looked a little miserable. The LA cat cafes were so much better and less hairy. For the price, it was a bit disappointing. Also really hard to find.
I went here for my birthday. I was really looking forward to playing with the cats. We booked our appointment for 1 pm, and the cafe is open until 8 pm. When we arrived the cafe was extremely overcrowded and so was the cattery. Not only so, but all the cats seemed exhausted and overworked. Every single cat but 1 was sleeping when we arrived and left, and not one of them wanted to voluntarily interact with a human. Mind you, this place was open for cattery appointments until 8 pm. If others have had better experiences, im happy for them but mine was a huge dissapointment. I will not be returning.
Plz dont visit here the cats are way too depressed and overstimulated. They look like they dont want to be there. The place where they stay looks depressing as well ,the staff needs to place effort in keeping the cats interested during the day and with the people that come to visit. I feel like that way itd be easier for the cats to get adopted
Just one thing to keep in mind, it’s not exactly a cat cafe, but a cafe and a cat room! Prices aren’t bad, nor is the wait long, and I love how all the kitties are adoptable!! Overall a fun and cute experience!!!
I was unable to see the cats because there was an overwhelming amount of reservations (probably due to the holiday season). However the drink selection was both tasty and reasonably priced. The folks working here are extremely helpful, and eager to ask any questions.
Had a wonderful time here with my friends! We booked for an hour of play for $15 (on a Wednesday) and it was worth every penny. Although I personally did not have anything at the café, my friend bought a drink and mentioned that it was a good one. Will definitely return here in the future!
Ive been to a lot of cat cafes and this is unfortunately the most disappointing one I have experienced. The majority of the cats here are up for adoption (which is great!!) but they are usually only at the cafe for a matter of weeks before being adopted, meaning that they arent fully settled into the environment. They all seem very on edge, both with other cats and with humans. There are some permanent cat residents too but again none of them seem at all interested in human attention, except maybe for the staff who theyre used to. I have visited other cafes in the past where they offer the cats for adoption, and none of these have had the same tense atmosphere where none of the animals seem very comfortable. I can see the cats are very well looked after, I think they just have too quick a turnaround time in terms of adoption for Koneko to justify charging $20 for you to pet the cats who arent well adjusted enough to want to be petted yet. Such a shame, as the cafe is nice and the food/coffee is good. Also the only cat cafe Ive visited where the cats are completely separate from the food area. Its okay, but if you actually want to cuddle some kitties, there are plenty of other places in NYC where the cats will actually let you do that!!
I had a wonderful experience, my daughter discovered this place and we attended for her 14th birthday, we unfortunately arrived late. But the host was considerate/accomodating , my daughter and her friends and sibling loved it. I only suggest air freshner near the litterboxs in the wall, we will be back!
Great place for cat lovers! I was taken to Koneko for my 24th birthday! It was such a blast. The food was delicious as well as the beverages. There is a fee of $20 to actually get in and play with the cats but its worth it. It helps support and feed them while you get the enjoyment of playing and entertaining them. There are 3 separate rooms where you can play with the friendly felines. Plenty of space and lots of cute cats to play with. It was clean and organized considering its full of cats. If youre looking to kill an hour or two stop by and check it out. I recommend the waffles! Yum!
Lovely cat Cafe! Really cool space and really well run. The kitties are so sweet. When they had events I would go all the time. Drang Bingo, valentines day dinner, and a gay cat wedding. The last one ended up being an episode of Cake Boss which was neat I guess! But anyways 10 of out 10. Would recommend to any cat lover.
The coffee and the atmosphere of the place were really nice but I didnt know you had to make reservations to see the cats, Ill make sure I do it next time 🥲🥲
Matcha crack pie was very addicting. Make sure to make a reservation to play with the cats.Kitties were all such a pleasure and had so many areas between the upstairs downstairs and patio to hang out. They were all so well socialized and soft and overall super cute!
Highly recommend! This place is beyond awesome! They are so nice and they are seriously awesome for the Cats. I think the concept is great but the way the make it all happen is pretty cool. It was me, my wife and our 4 kids. From ages 2 years old to 16 years old and everyone had so much fun. This was a unique experience that the whole family loved! We drove 2 hours from Philly to experience the Cat Cafe.
The place was too big for how many cats they had. They really didn’t have comfortable places to sit. Also, I wish we had more desirable toys for them to play with and more (much more) cats. We also wish the employees had introduced us to the cats as we cousin to pick them up. It was nice but wasn’t enough to make us adopt a cat or come back which clearly is the e e goal.
Cats are really cute, stuff are friendly. Enjoyed the hour here and hopefully gave some support for those cats.
The cafe itself had good food, Japanese and American fare alike, and the staff was kind. Unfortunately, the main menu (and the sign outside) doesn’t list the price of the kitties- $20 per person, per hour. We didn’t realize the kitties weren’t included until after we purchased our food. The price was too steep for us, and we just wished we knew what to expect from the get go.
The place is nice and cats are well taken care of. however it seems to be a bit of luck as to whether the ratio of cat to people is good or not.first time i went it was amazing but the second time i went there were more people than cats and i got very little to no time with cats.
Cute cats, friendly staff and coffee. Everything you need in one place.
I havent actually played with cats but Ive had some of the food and drinks there. The okonomiyaki was amazing and the earl grey was the best Id ever had. I loved the tea so much that I had two pots in one sitting. The staff there is really friendly and nice and they have cute cat themed clothing and accessories for sale too.
Great value for price. $15 to enter the separate cat enclosure which consists of one room on two floors. Id suggest making a reservation but my group and I walked in and waited about 20 minutes for the next entry. The group you along with other visitors so that there arent too many people at once. All the cats were super friendly and some lazy, some energetic. The staff was very soft spoken and generally pretty polite and helpful. They also serve some food but I settled for a cold brew coffee which hit the spot. Definitely going back again because of location, quality, service, and overall a great time!P.S. They also sell kitten chokers (see photos)
What a fantastic place! We went to Koneko on Whisker Wednesday and thoroughly enjoyed our visit. The staff was kind, informative on each cat’s demeanor and personality and just generally great conversationalists. The coffee and food (I got the fruit and honey tray) was excellent. It was a wonderful experience all around and we have a great deal of respect and admiration for a place like this, especially as cat lovers. Kudos, Koneko on a fabulous place for both humans and kitties!
Very chill area in town to relax and take a load off after a busy day of walking and sightseeing. They give you slippers and you can eat in the room with cats upstairs. Expect to spend about 35 to 40 dollars if you are interested to dine in and visit cat room. The cats are not very social and hiss at onr another and are wary of new people. I think 1 hour a time is not enough to get to know a kitty.
A lovely cat cafe! They sell coffee and food (coffee was good - not sure about food). They also sell merchandise - hats and shirts, mostly. You pay $15 to spend 1 hour in the separated cat area, which contains 2 floors and a patio. The space is made for cats, but its also quite comfortable for humans. The people inside the cat space are friendly and knowledgeable about the cats, and will tell their stories and personalities freely. You can adopt any of the cats you see! Sometimes they even take cats back from owners - they mentioned 2 cats had only spent 4-6 months with their previous owners before being returned.
The menu is really limited but thats ok considering the main attraction are the cats. The cattery is really small but the cats were really fun. They were sleepy at first but then they started playing around by the end of it.One weird smell was coming in the last few mins in the cattery. Not sure what it was
I love cats and was excited to visit. The staff in the cat room and people who served at the bar were great. The disappointment was the lethargy of the cats. They had no interest in playing or visiting with the humans. It was an experience unlike what Id seen on TV or what I expected. A very good cause and mission to find homes for the cats, however so I still consider it money well spent.
Drink was fine, but it doesn’t specify you need a reservation to actually see the cats anywhere. Just another overpriced NYC coffee/tea place without that element.
