Central Park Pet Spa

We had been bringing our dog here for grooming services for 2 years and everything was great until our last visit. We noticed a very deep laceration under the neck of our pup 2 days after we left the groomers. As you can see from the photos its pretty obvious that it was a clipper that did this, not to mention there was a bald spot of hair to go with it. Not only did the owners NOT mention it, and we had to confront them about it, but when we did they even tried to deny it and blame it on his collar which hes been wearing for over 5 years. We had to wait over 3 days for a refund and the owner never called to address the issue or apologize. They had an employee do their dirty work. At this point, were convinced the animal abuse was done on purpose because our dog can honestly be a little difficult at times, but thats not an excuse to do what they did and then try to cover it up and blame us for it. Now, on top of all this our dog has severe anxiety and has been acting way out of character urinating and pooping in the apartment which he has NEVER done because he gets 3 walks a day and is a 9 year old potty trained adult. So to recap... They cut our dogs neck and made him bleed, tried to cover it up by not telling us, denied and then blamed us for it, refused a refund 3 times and the owner never addressed us or offered an apology. STAY FAR AWAY FOR YOUR PETS SAFETY!!!

Reda is amazing at making pets and their owners feel at ease in what can be a stressful experience at other groomers, and the results are amazing! My cat is a Siberian and got extremely matted hair after a friend watched him while I was on vacation, and they were able to shave him evenly without any nicks, tears, or irritations. We’ve come back several times and look forward to returning for regular grooming like hygiene cuts and de-matting. We live uptown and go to midtown just to have Reda groom our cat because we know the service and results will be excellent.

My dog needed a good bath after a rainy day visiting NYC. Central Park Dog Spa was easy to book, fast, and they left her sparkling clean. She was happy when I picked her up and it was a nice surprise to see her nails trimmed. Thank you for looking so well after my pup ♥️

My dog’s experience at Central Park Pet Spa was severely traumatizing, and as a result, he now has anxiety around grooming. While my dog can be a handful at times, just like people have different personalities,dogs do too. It just does not justify the abuse he endured.The spa has refused to take responsibility for their actions. It was evident that he was abused, as he suffered a severe cut on his throat. I shared photos to address the situation civilly, not seeking compensation but hoping to give them the benefit of the doubt, considering we’ve been customers for months. Instead, they blamed me. The injury was clearly a clipper cut, not a collar cut. I am bewildered by how the groomer (the owner) could inflict such a deep cut on his throat so intentionally.The owner never called to apologize or explain what happened; instead, he sent a front desk employee to handle the situation. This speaks volumes about their businesss character. After my husband posted a review about our experience, the same employee called to ask us to remove it, claiming they had issued a refund. This is completely unacceptable—offering money in exchange for the removal of a bad review seems like an attempt to cover up their incompetence and wrongdoing.DO NOT RECOMMEND.

We loved our first visit to Central Park Pet Spa for a grooming! Our cutie doesn’t always love grooming and especially nail trims (due to previous negative experiences elsewhere!) but the team their took their time and were patient with him, resulting in a perfect grooming! Thank you for putting the “care” in pet care !

I mostly come here for supplies, have never used their grooming services. Anyway while there a disgruntled patron brought their dog in complaining that their dog had several clipper lacerations after their grooming. It happens, but the clerks didnt own up to it and instead vehemently denied wrongdoing. Whats more, the employee was laughing and making jokes after the incident dissolved. I guess they forgot I was in the store.

This is a great place to take your little one. I brought in my five pound Yorkie poo in and he looks amazing. They had him done in 3 hours which was quicker then other groomer I had gone to before. The price was fair and for the job they did, well worth it. Thankyou so much!

Do not go here. Last time I took myDog here they cut him. It was so overpriced and they didn’t even give him a style just shaved him down. I could have done that myself. I will never bring him back. Zero Stars from me.

Every time I’ve been here they’ve been exceptionally patient and professional. My dog is so nervous and aggressive when it comes to grooming. They’ve provided me with everything I could possibly need to make it possible to get her groomed. I’m so appreciative and very happy that they’re in my neighborhood.Update Feb 2024: they’re still awesome and Porsha is an actual angel. They continue to be so professional, kind and accommodating. If I could give this zero stars, I would. What a horrendous experience. Took my dog for a nail clipping and they had me hold my own dog while they struggled to trim to his nail right in the small entrance of the store where there was no space. The whole time the two ladies at the desk were beyond rude the entire experience. My dog was stressed and freaking out and Jody just kept forcing it, not giving my dog any breaks to adjust to what is happening. I dont understand why I just paid money to someone for them to have me hold my dog and give him treats. In the end, two paws were attended to and I had to ask them to stop because the experience was traumatizing to me and my dog. Cant believe I was still charged for that horrible experience. Save your time and money.

I’m so happy with the service and quality of groomers skills. I brought my Lil Shih Tzu here since she was able to get her 1st cut. She is now almost 9 mo and I love this place. I went out of town for 2 month to Hou Tx and there highly rated boutique groomers could not come close to the type of cut my baby has been given here.

My cat needed a sanitary shave and they did a great job. They were so quick! My cat gets anxious at vets and groomers. I’ve had other places turn us away before because Pebbles was too stressed and kept moving. I couldn’t believe how fast they got this done. They were also so nice to my baby girl!

Went here because it was closer to my apartment. Not great. Had to have her haircut redone because the cut was not even at all. Will not return.

Teddys first haircut at Central Park Spa:He was pretty grumpy when I dropped him off as hes not a huge fan grooming. However, he was treated very well because he was all smiles when I picked him up. He looks adorable.We love his haircut. I was concerned because hes had alopecia (in part) from being cut too short at other places, but Red chose the perfect length. We will be back routinely.

We brought in our long haired cat who had developed some knots for a bath and brush. We were so impressed and pleased with his transformation from Judys expert grooming skills. He has never felt so soft, and we imagine he is much more comfortable too in the summer months having gotten rid of so much excess fur. All of the staff were very friendly and helpful, and we really appreciate the great service and TLC our cat received.

We have been coming here for almost a year now and we are always a dying pleased with the grooming and care for our fur baby!! Everyone there is so patient with her and truly pays attention to every grooming detail! This is THE BEST PLACE!

Cannot thank Reda enough for taking such wonderful care with our very long-haired cat, Ozzy, during our grooming appointment yesterday. Ozzy is a large cat with a dense coat and he had become quite matted and knotted. We have had Ozzy groomed (lion cut) in the past and it was stressful for all of us to say the least ... but not with Reda! Reda is some kind of miracle worker and was able to groom Ozzy with ease and confidence. We were actually stunned at how easily he accomplished the shaving process and Ozzy was not traumatized in the least. Our sincere thanks to Reda and all at Central Park Pet Spa. We have found our grooming home and I recommend them highly. Thank you!

I always go to Central Park Pet Spa because I love the quality of their service. Every time they give me back my kitten she seems more and more beautiful and I feel calm when I leave her with them, because I trust them! They are always very professional and attentive to animal care. While Im away, they always send me photos and videos of my cat while she is getting groomed. I like this because they keep me updated on how my cat is doing. Great place!!!

They were so kind! They took my cat in 4 hours earlier than they expected (my fault), they took great care of my cat (he looked amazing and happy), he had an accident in his stroller and they swapped out his sheets for me. I cant wait to take him back!

Amazing experience every time. My golden retriever hates other groomers, where she would shake and cry the second we walked in but this has never been the case at Central Park Spa.They are so gentle in their baths and do exactly what I ask for cuts. Prices are a little high but you get for what you pay for - She always comes out so floofy, smelling great and excited to wag her tail down the city streets!

Reda, the flamboyant owner & main groomer claims to have 30+ years of hand stripping experience. Yet failed to provide a full hand stripping to my 11yr old Cairn Terrier [even tho I paid $300 and gave clear instructions]. And by using scissors and electric clippers on my dogs hair = RUINED his hair permanently.After questioning why my dogs face was not stripped, Reda stated incorrectly that the face is never done . He also used clippers on the belly, and wanted to bathe my Cairn. [which are both strictly forbidden 🚫 with the Cairn Terrier breed].His source of having such incorrect information is some funky binder that has minimal information for each dog breed of which there is hundreds. I showed Reda the Official Guidebook of Cairn Terrier Breeders which has instructions, illustrations, photo examples on how to groom this specific breed and he was totally uninterested or apologetic for his badly informed grooming techniques.

I took my dog in for a full groom. They did a really wonderful job with his wash and cut but I don’t think I’ll be going back again due to price discrepancy. I booked his appointment online and through their website, it said that a full groom for a dog 55+ lbs is $135. My dog is only 48 lbs but I know he’s difficult to groom so I selected the higher option. When I went to pick him up, they told me that they did not clip his nails because he was too stressed out. He’s been to the groomers before and usually, I get charged an extra $20 because he’s a two person job but I’ve never had anyone not clip his nails. It was disappointing since thats the only thing I bother taking him to the professionals for BUT I actually appreciate them being on the careful side. I did figure that the price would be reduced since he didn’t get the full service I had booked. Instead, they charged my card $180 (not including tip) and did not give me any rationale as to what the additional $45 was for. Can’t stress enough that I think they did a really great job with the wash and cut and I think the staff is very friendly but had I known the price would be that high I would’ve opted for an in-house grooming and saved my dog the stress.

I just get such rude, dismissive and unpleasant vibes from the woman who runs the desk. I wish there were more groomer options local in Hell’s Kitchen. When I asked if they could try to keep some length on his tail and head, she immediately said they couldn’t because the hair was “too tight to the skin” (I admit there’s matted clumps that Scuttle hates when I try to brush them out) and basically made it clear she had no interest in conveying my requests to the groomer. I haven’t even picked Scuttle up yet but I’m preemptively disappointed that they’ll probably shave him bald, and I’m not going to want to pay for this kind of service. I’ll have to try somewhere else next time.

Brought our long haired Maltese here for a full grooming and they did a fabulous job. We wanted to maintain the beautiful silky hair but take enough off so he’d be comfortable in the summer. It came out perfect. He (our dog) was also very calm arriving and leaving their shop. Social distancing and masks observed, one customer allowed inside at a time.

I can’t say enough. Judy was so professional so accommodating great Communication I had adopted a Persian cat through Covid so of course I was nervous taking him someplace for the first time and I found this amazing. Judy made me feel at ease taking him there and Reda Was so so good with him my cat came back very happy the first time. The second time again I was trying to book the last minute Judy was so so nice and this time I got the whole wash cut everything done And I got to say my cat was getting a little bit cranky A week prior to bringing him in but after I took him here I’m not kidding he was the most happiest happiest sweetest cat I guess he knew he needed a bath LOL and a cut. The special care and attention He got there Is the best I have experience in the city When I picked up my cat I forgot my wallet of all things. Me being really embarrassed Judy made an awkward situation for me into a positive. When leaving I met Reda I had a conversation With him he was also extremely nice talked about my cat and just by speaking with him and the great attitude of my cat that this guy loves what he does. Once again thank you thank you so so much to both of you. We look forward to our next visit.

BLOOD EVERYWHERE (I’m unable to post pictures but I have them and my dog is suffering.)THIS PLACE DOWN The worst place ever. Don’t ever take your dog here. I got my dogs nails cut for the first time (stupidest thing I can do) his rear nails never when I say never THEY NEVER GREW BACK! It’s been way over 7months. I told the lady with blonde hair his nails are a little too short, she told me they would grow back she had to cut them low because they was long( mind you it’s his first time getting his nails cut since being born) weeks after grooming his nails would bleed I ran to a clinic they told me to just clean and keep it covered while walking gave me pain medication and told me to just keep a look out in case he losses feeling that’s how bad it is and it still is. It kept happing off and on I spent lots of money on shoes and bandages. 12/2021 his nails are still short never grew back and he bleeding a more than ever he also wobbles when he walked he fondant even look normal. He now has permanent damage.I HAVE PROOF I TOOK HIM TO ANOTHER GROOMER HE WAS NOT OKAY HE WAS DCARED AFRAID AND TRAUMATIZED, he bites anyone that touched his feet.

Booked my golden-doodle for grooming session here several months ago. Was quoted at around $140. When I picked him up they charged me $240. Said he needed extra services. Whether or not thats true, its very deceptive to not notify you of extra charges upfront.Otherwise, decent haircut. But wont be going back.

Reda, the owner & head groomer is a Master Groomer. I first met him when he opened a salon in Astoria. Unfortunately, it did not survive Covid. Although Astoria has a dog grooming salon on every other block, I take my 50lb dog on the subway, on my day off, to see Reda. She doesn’t even get a haircut as she is a shepherd mix. He gives her a bath and a deshedding treatment that is unbelievable. My apt is no longer filled with dog hair tumbleweeds. And my dog loves Central Park Pet Spa. Go there, listen to him- he knows what kind of cut & maintenance your dog needs. That is his expertise. He has 30 bottles of different shampoos as he knows every dog coat is different. He grooms cats too. Everyone I have referred to him is very happy. He is worth the slightly higher cost than your average groomer. Would you go to the cheapest doctor or the best? Reda is the best.

No matter what I tell them they just shave my dog down, second time that I’ve gone where my dog looks shaved down after I explicitly told them that I wasn’t happy the last time I was there because they cut his hair too short. If you have a short haired dog probably fine but if you have a medium or long haired dog do not go there.

Reda is the best groomer in NY. I have a Bichon Poodle thats always done in a Bichon show groom and Reda does him beautifully. I used to travel to Astoria to Reda from out of state but Manhattan is so much more convenient and Reda is worth it

I used to bring my mainecoon cat here when it was on 57th. Same woman who does the grooming that I absolutely love. I’ve brought my cat to a couple other groomers while this location was relocating and nothing compared to the work she does! Highly recommend.

I had specifically asked them not to cut off my dogs beard I had one request and what did they do? cut off the dogs beard not to mention, not just cutting it but cutting it uneven to. If this is what I wanted, I could have done it myself. Very upset and disappointed!Yes I called and you offered to fix it ? How do you fix hair that you cut of ?? Your going to grow him hair or give him extensions ? It’s a mistake you can’t fix so why waste my time bringing my dog back there esp after this hideous haircut (won’t let anyone there touch my dog again ) There was no matts in my dogs beard, maybe a knot, but it’s manageable. And that’s not a decision you take upon yourself. You call the dog owner and ask them if it’s okay. I did not want his beard touched and I expressed that very clearly!

I did my research before coming because I wanted good place for my dog to come and my expectations were exceeded !! They did amazing reda and Judy and yasmine are fabulous!!!

I’ve taken my cat here twice already and have had such a great experience! She was a rescue and DOES NOT groom herself and needs a lot of work. She resists grooming at home but seems to enjoy her spa day! She always seems much more confident when finished but the point is that the staff here knows and understands cats and doesn’t just scoff at a “difficult” cat. I always bring her in early so it’s more chill and she has time to settle , but they are speedy and had her done in almost an hour last time. Not 5 stars because is expensive $$$ but a good cat groomer is hard to find . But they aren’t a last resort, they honestly are worth the money.
