Great experience! Tatiana did a super job grooming and the receptionist was very friendly and accommodating. Easy to make appointment and my dog felt very comfortable there. Thank you. My first time there and now will be my go to groomer
Awful experience. First time here and never bringing my dog back. Dropped my dog off in one piece only to pick her up with a missing nail. Groomer declawed one of her nails, there is a hole where her nail once was. Initially the receptionist tried to suggest that I brought her in like that but upon further discussion she admitted that the groomers “nicked” her on the table and that she was profusely bleeding and that they needed to use quick stop to stop the bleeding. Once I got home I examined her paw further only to notice that her entire nail is gone!! My dog is 7 years old and I have been taking her to the groomers every 2 months since I’ve had her. She is extremely well behaved and I have never had anything like this happen to her. I called the location back once I realized what really happened and the receptionist apologized and said she truthfully wasn’t sure what happened or how, this was after two different stories were fabricated to cover up their mistreatment of my dog. I request a refund and she told me she had to get a managers approval! I brought her there thinking she would be well taken cared of and she came back injured. Avoid this place at all costs.
My doggy isn’t the nicest around strangers but my interaction w the owner and stylist when I dropped my dog off truly showed me that they were calm and patient— qualities needed when dealing with my Benji. he literally looks so handsome and even his paws are so cute!!!!!! I’m in love :)
Communication is a vital, and these guys exceeded my expectations with communicating, texts and emails as possible. (When they were Downtown Doghouse).Their care with my dog, Im beyond grateful. Always professional. And my pup loves everyone at the shop!Highly recommended! Scarlett approved!
If you never met my 12 year old pup, Cuba the Havanese, you’ll have to trust me when I tell you what a spoiled guy he is. A long recognized New York personality, Cuba like to look his best whether in the neighborhood or traveling the world. That’s why he only trusts Nancy Chincar and her team a Downtown Doghouse to maintain a well groomed appearance. The groomers at this cherish pet spa and boutique are noted among the very top in New York and are well recognized. Dogs groomed at Downtown Doghouse have been seen in menswear ads for Philip Lim, on the Today show, in the PBS series Shelter Me, and in the series Doggie Moms. Check out Cuba’s 12th Birthday Cut!
Very well done, good communication and took time to explain the best way to groom my puppy.
In response to the person that replied. That should have been communicated prior to me completing my transaction. It doesn’t matter that my account has been credited. You failed communicate effectively and I wonder if this is something the company does regularly. I won’t be returning.Five stars for grooming. One star for charging me an additional .46 cents for no reason. Yes it’s not a lot of money but it’s still my money. When you pick up your pet, no one shows you the receipt, they just tell you the total. Be sure to ask to see the invoice prior to paying. I am not sure if this is a regular business practice for this company. I most likely will not be bringing my dog back here. Yes I spoke to harsh woman on the phone who said they would credit my account for .46 cents on the next visit but honestly it’s not enough. Very disappointed.
My dog looks beautiful and the staff are knowledgeable when it comes to dog haircuts and the conditions of the dog . My fur baby looks cute 🥰.
I will start saying the actual groomers are incredible at their job. My problem was always with the client reception and service. Always an attitude, always a rude behavior and always giving a hard time for issues that were completely their fault. My dog had been going to this place for 3 years until i recently decided to stop. During the pandemic they were the sweetest (client reception) when they were in crazy need after everything calm down back to the rude behavior. You can barely get a word at the door or even explain what you want to get done for your dog without her closing the door almost on your face, they never pick up the phone and blame it on you last minute over text message, if your dog is done and they text you; she expects you to run there to get him in less than 20 minutes; have in mind they will never give you an estimate, thats your problem as a customer. Sadly this only affect their groomers. Client service should be their number one priority and to be completely honest they are the worse at it. Plenty of other groomers places will make you feel more welcome than this place here. I dont recommend based on my experience.
Best grooming you’ll find in Nyc! This is the first time my dog didn’t walk out of a groomer shaking. He was so happy and they did an amazing job with so much effort! Fair pricing as well.
A local dog groomer in the Chelsea area. They are so good with my dog Teddy who really doesn’t love the groomer. I feel at ease with leaving him there and he always comes out with the cutest cut. I think they need to drop the pandemic fees though. It’s making our dog cut be over $200 a visit.
I feel very fortunate that our pet had a chance to experience such service. This is top of the line service. And because of that demand you have to be patient with their scheduling. Theyre incredibly nice and they dont miss any details that you recommend. If treated with kindness and respect they will go above and beyond to make you and your pet happy. I will gladly return to do service with them.
If you like extra, unnecessary fees, this place is for you.$180 dollars to wash and dry my dog, poor value IMO. They did a good job with him, they were nice.Edit: I was not told about this compulsory 20% gratuity. Forcing $30 dollars in gratuity isnt gratuity.. its an extra fee, its a way to make your price ($130) look lower than it actually is so that you can consider it competitive. And thank you, I understand how taxes work.
My boy came out so handsome! They were great with him, you can tell they really care about the dogs. Also kept in contact the whole time to make sure they got the right look. Will be coming back and referring friends and family!
This place just treats my baby like she is the queen and empress. She is always happy and calm and beautiful.
Took my dog here and was very pleased with the way my dog was cut and cleaned. His fur was so soft and he was tangle free. Will definitely be coming back and will recommend to anyone whos looking for a great grooming salon with reasonable prices
Our schnoodle had a good time playing outdoors in the snow during our Vermont holiday, and it showed. We were aware that he would need to be shaved in certain areas bc of the nots. Knowing this, we did request that the groomer does what she can to save some of his hair and provide a proper groom. downtown doghouse did not even try an inkling to give him a decent cut. This was our first time here. They shaved him off down to the skin. There were no scissors involved in this cut. Did they even try? He was ready in less then two hours from when we dropped him off. On top of that they left his head overgrown so it seemed like he was some defunct dog post surgery. It’s taking months for his hair to grow back even half way.To make matters worse they shaved his scrotum and developed an infection from it. Our doctor told us groomers are not supposed to shave down there. Case and point. Thanks downtown. Never coming back.
Very unhappy all around. I took my mini Australian Sheppard in to get a trim around her back and behind area. I have taken her to another groomer in NYC and it was exactly what we asked for so we figured we would ask for the same thing. Me and my girlfriend explained what we wanted even using scissor motions with our hands. We left happy and confident. When I returned the dog was shaved and it was not an even shave to boot, plus I know it sounds stupid but she did not even have a bandanna on (I mean come on) . They then charged me much more then any other groomer in the area and looking at me knowing I was not happy asked if I wanted to add a tip. I have grown up with dogs and have never had a worst experience in my life. I mean shave a dog before winter especially an Aussie? I have asked other groomers about the situation and they said any experienced certified groomer would have never done that so look out.
Within 30 seconds of entering, the groomer convinced me not to let him touch my dog. After a 10 second rub, he smugly pronounced that Luca had knots and would have to be shaved. He said they couldnt comb out the knots because, according to notes from 3 years ago (when Luca was 1 year old) my dog was a biter. No groomer has ever said Luca was a biter and no groomer has ever said they wouldnt at least try to comb out the knots. In short, this groomer had ZERO interest in trying to do a good job. In the end, after reading the many similar complaints, I feel very lucky that I walked out.
This tiny groomer always has time for my two dogs to drop in and get their nails trimmed. They also have a small selection of harnesses, leashes, bags and such for sale. Next door is a terrific pet supply store as well so its a perfect spot for knocking out your furry friends errands.
Quinns first grooming visit since I adopted him. He looks great and seemed to have a happy experience. Mama was nervous leaving him, but Quinn was fine.
My dogs both LOVE it here. They are so kind and gentle and consistently do a beautiful job!
They are taking care of my princess Luna … Since day one they have been the nicest people with me and her … they are so responsible… reliable … they really love them … they give you Updates.. 100 percent happy with the service …
We love Downtown Doghouse!! They always do a beautiful job.
Theyre awesome. Both my dogs are groomed there and they always look great!
I’ve been bringing my Schnauzer here for years. They always give him a great cut and are very friendly.
We were looking further to the services, haircut was uneven super expenses and staff wasnt the most friendly.
Great customer service!love how fast the book an appointment for my dog.
Great cuts! Fantastic service. They always do a beautiful job on my dogs!
Great service! Great staff. Love love love this grooming establishment.
Efficient and very friendly. My dog was very happy and relaxed after being groomed.
Friendly staff and we always love the haircut our two morkies get!
Its ok, little pricey but they do a good job been taking my dog there for the last 2 years, I like it.
Having had a terrible experience years ago with a groomer, i am SUPER-picky about who gets to hold a razor near my dog and who gets to lock him up in a small cage for any length of time.just to give some context...i also rarely write reviews. this said, i love downtown doghouse so so so much that i am impelled to go out of my way in my free time to put them on blast about how much i love and trust them and will recommend them to anyone, even someone with a sensitive shelter dog situation. my dog needs to be very closely shorn once a year, even on his face (his eyes are prone to infection from shaggy hair if it gets dirty) and he still marches in to downtown doghouse with alacrity.please have complete peace of mind with regard to downtown doghouse. its not even in my hood but its worth the inconvenience because of how well they treat my pup. one time when i picked him up they wanted to teach me how to brush his hair properly, we got to talking about dog care and they forgot to ask me to pay them and i forgot to offer. this speaks volumes to me about how they are in this business not as business people but as people who are concerned with the welfare of animals...i tried out four other groomers before i found dd. most places, including the big stores also teach, so the students are focusing on mastery over empathy. i understand they have to learn somewhere its just not my preference as my dog is the very teeny and sensitive runt of his litter.THANK YOU DOWNTOWN DOGHOUSE.
Friendly and great service. Love haircuts my yorkie gets and he likes groomers.
I am so happy to have finally found my NYC groomer after trying multiple ones over the last year and a half. Neo and Leeloo look amazing and I can’t wait to return! Thank you Downtown Doghouse for making my fur children look amazing!
Always reliable. My dog always comes out happy and smelling great. We go back every two weeks since we moved to Chelsea.
They do a great job every time with our dear Bella! Two thumbs up and a wagging of a tail.
The owners rebuttal to my review still does not address why my dogs grooming took less than half the time of a normal grooming - which has always taken 2-3 hours - and led to a sloppy cut. Additionally, I shouldnt have to come back twice.
They groomed by dog a few times, after a bad experience I posted a negative review, instead of an apology, I was verbally harassed on the street by an employee for sharing my experience.
I was just ok..Not worth the $90 charged Wouldnt go there again..
On my dogs last visit there the grooming, which normally takes at least two hours, was completed in less than an hour - which has never happened in his 11 years. When I picked him up, he did not smell as though he had been bathed the grooming was very sloppy and uneven. VERY disappointing. (I chose one star for this review but would have given no stars if the site would have allowed.)
They are kind to my Yorkie Cookie and my self.
Kept hanging up the phone when I called
Love this place
