Adopting our dog Jack from A Good Dog Rescue was one of the best decisions we’ve ever made. Jack is an amazing dog, and we owe so much of his wonderful nature to the incredible team at A Good Dog Rescue. He is amazing with our small children and with other dogs.Lisa and her team truly go above and beyond to ensure the welfare of the animals in their care. They also were so helpful in letting us know what to expect when first bringing the dog home, since they may not demonstrate their typical behavior while they are adjusting. They dont just stop at adoption; the ongoing support from their community has been invaluable. From a super helpful Facebook group to connecting us with Jack’s previous foster parents, they’ve created a network that makes you feel part of a family. If you’re considering adopting, I can’t recommend A Good Dog Rescue enough. They’re dedicated, compassionate, and their commitment to the animals shows in everything they do. Thank you, Lisa and team, for bringing Jack into our lives and for all the amazing work you do!

I have had the absolute joy of being able to adopt 2 amazing dogs from AGDR over the past 4 years. The staff is amazing and cares so much for the welfare of these animals and goes through great lengths to ensure they are placed with responsible, knowledgeable families who can give these dogs the life they deserve. If I am fortunate enough to be able to rescue another dog in the future, AGDR will be my first stop. Photo of Moe (formerly Love) and Fergus, 2 out of 3 of our rescues.

Lisa has given us the opportunity to be rescued not only once but, twice. The level of fit that both dogs had/have with my family is beyond words. It is clear that they care deeply about every dog they save.My personal feeling is that anyone with a less than 5 star review on here either didn’t try hard enough or didn’t do their proper homework. (But that’s just my humble opinion)

I cannot express enough gratitude to AGDR for the incredible work they do. Over the past years, I have adopted two beautiful, loving dogs from them, and each experience has been nothing short of amazing. From the moment I first contacted Lisa at AGDR their dedication and passion for rescuing and rehoming dogs was evident. Lisa and her volunteer team work tirelessly, to ensure every dog finds a loving and safe home. Their commitment to the well-being of these animals is truly inspiring. When I got my first beautiful girl Boo from them four years ago at the age of seven she had a mass on the side of her mouth and Lisa had an appointment made for me at the AGDR vet to have them take it out and test it (AGDR covered that expense) and thankfully it was not cancer! She’s now going to be 12 and is just the most beautiful girl. Two years ago we wanted to get another dog, a puppy this time and we went straight to AGDR as there was no question that was where we would rescue from. And once again, adopted our beautiful boy Rex. We are just so happy and lucky we found Lisa and her organization as she helped us build our family with our beautiful furry babies. What honestly stands out the most about AGDR is their unwavering dedication. She or someone on her team is always available for a question or concern, even years later after adopting. They go above and beyond, providing post-adoption support and ensuring that adopters are well-prepared for their new furry family members. The love and care they have for each dog is palpable, and it is reflected in the wonderful companions they place into forever homes.I am forever grateful to Lisa and AGDR for bringing Boo and Rex into our lives. Their work makes a profound difference in the lives of so many dogs and families. If you are looking to adopt or support a rescue organization, I wholeheartedly recommend A Good Dog Rescue! Their dedication, hard work, and compassionate hearts are truly outstanding.

I absolutely love this dog rescue! One thing you need to know is they are not out to make money, they are out to make sure a rescue has the best possible fit. The amount of time they took to investigate me and my family, even with a recommendation from a 2x time adopter from this rescue, was inspiring. I knew they were serious about placement of their dogs. The one thing I truly loved is the support they offered after adopting. Lisa and staff are truly amazing and would recommend them a million times over. They take dog rescue very serious!

I cannot say enough good things about this rescue and its owner Lisa. I had adopted one of her pups back in November and for many months it was the epitome of peace with my other dogs and the pup. Back at the end of May a really scary situation occurred and I spoke to Lisa about it and shes been nothing but gentle, caring and considerate in trying to fix the situation. We are working together to find a long term solution for the puppy and she has been so kind and considerate through out this process and in evaluating the situation and the pup personally is completely understanding and wanting to do what is best for my established pack and the puppy. Not once did she berate me or say anything negative. she is understanding that sometimes things dont work out but I like to help this rescue as best I can because she is the first rescue Ive ever dealt with who actually cares about the dogs currently and previously in her care.

My family adopted our brindle, Tulip from this rescue 5 years ago. It was an amazing experience and Tulip is the sweetest girl ever. She had been found on the streets of Alabama and brought to NY. She is a parvo survive and without this rescue and their unwavering commitment to their dogs, we would not have Tulip as part of our family. We stay in touch with the rescue and donate when we can hoping to help other dogs and families experience what we have.Lisa the owner, is extremely committed to this rescue and has even conducted some virtual field trips for my class. Working together ,we are trying to educate young children on the importance of caring for their pets and how rescuing saves lives when looking for a pet.I recommend this rescue all the time to ppl looking to add to their family.

I have adopted 5 dogs from A good dog rescue and fostered over 50Dogs. This rescue cares about the dogs. They are always professionalAnd will help in any to make the adoption a success. People have to understand the dogs perspective it takes weeks or in some cases months for the dog to get used to the routine the house the humans other animals etc. the rescue always takes things from the dogs perspective. Love them highly recommend them.

We adopted Max from this rescue and yes puppies are a lot of work and time must be put into any relationship that is being developed whether it be animal or human. Anyone would complains about returning the dogs they promised to love and care for without getting their money back is really something else. How do you go about bringing an animal in your house without introducing them to the household first is totally irresponsible on their part.

This is a wonderful rescue who always place the welfare of their rescues in the highest priority. Lisa, the owner, is truly a kind and caring person. She nurtured my poor dog back to health after saving him from the streets of Alabama. I highly recommend this rescue

I highly recommend A Good Dog Rescue. I adopted a wonderful dog from this rescue in 2021. Their support of all the rescued dogs continues well after you take the dog home. This rescue provides lots of guidance regarding the adjustment period, introducing the rescue to family members and other pets via materials they send you home with and the adoption group website. The experience has been stellar. A Good Dog Rescue has saved sooooo many dogs who would not be alive today if it were not for Lisa Smith. Lisa is very dedicated, knowledgable and responsive.

Fantastic organization. High standards for adoption which tends to make those who refuse to abide by their adoption contract, salty. I recommend them 100% and find that most of the 1 star reviews are baseless.

This person would rather shame owners for doing the right thing than take care of dogs. I’d never use them or bring any animal to this place.
