My wife Kim bought me a Yellow Lab and the experience was wonderful from our initial visit with Marty and Lauren, through each visit with our puppy. She just turned 6 months old and she is such a sweet girl. Loves everyone she meets. We couldnt be happier.
These people breed extremely aggressive animals buyers beware!!! Then they act like everything is your fault. Most two faced people I’ve met. All they want is your money. They don’t care about the animals. The dogs live in their own feces all day long in a cage with a cold concrete floor fyi. I’m writing this review 7 years after my wife and I purchased a puppy from them. If it wasn’t for my wife our dog would have been put down long ago unfortunately. Oh and I have the scars on my face and hands to prove how aggressive labs of love dogs really are.
Passionate dog lovers. Our new puppy was just born and we were able to visit her after 2 weeks. Beautiful animal and the owners are caring, patient people who share their passion about Labs with everyone who walks in.
Marty and Lauren are the only people I would trust with our dog (she is a Labs of Love girl!) They love and care for your pup in a clean and secure facility. Our Karma came home from her last visit at Labs of Love, and you would have thought she had a few days at a spa! When we picked her up, she was happy, clean, and relaxed. We know she received lots of love and attention from Lauren, Marty, and their staff. They are wonderful people, true dog lovers, and know what they are doing. Thank you, Lauren and Marty.
I am writing this years later as I drive by Ridge Road West and saw and thought they were no longer in business. So I googled to see how many complaints they have received. I purchased a puppy from them 7 years ago, my puppy started to show behavioral issues, thought we could correct it, but 7 years later it wasn’t possible. She is the most unfriendly lab anyone has met. She doesn’t like people or other dogs. She has to have a muzzle on her to go to the vet! It’s very sad! My family and I kept her because we were afraid someone would treat her poorly because of her issues!IM SAD TO SEE THEY ARE STILL IN BUSINESS! I would have wrote a review years ago, but just thought we got the wrong pick of the litter!
Our beagle, Harvey, LOVES going to daycare at Labs of Love! He plays with a variety of other dogs and never have we had any probs with occasional boarding. Owner, Marty knows the dogs well that come daycare, he takes care to put dogs together for play that are compatible. Harvey comes home tired from all the fun he had socializing with his friends!Labs of Love offers hours that fit our changing schedule. They care for our pet when we need them! These are very hard working ppl, who genuinely care for animals. Folks complaints abt a wet pet bed during boarding, I would say that is inconvenient, but things happen sometimes when a dog sleeps away from home - to them what can be a strange, unfamiliar place. I dont see this kennel doing something wrong as in to completely negate the overnight supervision provided. We use the service to keep our pet safe when we need to be away overnight.if he pees in his bed or dents his food bowl, so be it.We highly recommend the daycare and boarding services.
Do not get your puppy from here. Their dogs are bred too young and then overbred (possibly inbred?) resulting in puppies with health problems. Our black lab puppy from here already has noticeable hip problems and has torn both her ACLs BEFORE SHE IS EVEN 2 YEARS OLD. It’s heart breaking to see a young dog that can’t play because it will make her lame later on. And the surgery... almost $7,000 if both are done at once. Even more if you do them at separate times. Then there are her behavioral issues. She is the most aggressive lab we have ever owned. We have had two black labs before this (from different breeders) that never had these problems at such a young age.We would have gone back to them but they no longer breed their dogs (the humane thing to do). Which brings me to my second point. This is nothing but a business where their dogs are treated like machines instead of animals. The dogs were always desperate for attention when you went to see them in their outdoor kennels. Not to mention one of their “retired” females was stuck in a cage looking uncharacteristically old and worn out for a dog her age. Furthermore, their home is unclean and so are their dogs. When I went to pet the mother, she was covered in this slime and smelled awful. They had to bathe the puppy before any visit and it’s probably because she was in the same condition as the mother. All in all, I highly suggest you search elsewhere for your puppy. Or better yet, ADOPT!
We put a deposit down for a puppy. We were told that the litters kept dying, no puppies available. After over 9 months of waiting we asked for our money back. Marty was rude, combative, terrible to deal with. They took our money and just continued to hang up on me when we tried to contact them. No idea how Marty and Lauren are still in business. They are horrible people and horrible to the dogs.
Weve used Labs of Love for both boarding and day care for our dogs, and have been very pleased with their services. Marty the owner is very personable and offers great customer service for any issues that may arise. The kennels are kept clean, and dogs well looked after.
I am saddened by the recent bad reviews. We have trusted these folks with our dog, for both daycare and boarding, since the first week they opened in May 2015. This came from a recommendation from a friend who loves chocolate labs, who knows the breed, and purchased several dogs from them through the years. People should know that Marty has suffered from health problems that became worse and worse, but he worked through the pain to be onsite with the dogs. We drove by yesterday (4/23/18) and the business appears to have closed. I suspect perhaps their lease, or other obligations, kept them operating when they should in fact have sold off. They did NOT run a puppy mill, nor are they scammers. Just 2 people who had worked hard all their lives to achieve a dream...then illness had to strike and rip it all to shreds. Imagine how you would feel if this had happened to you. You dont want to let go of your dream and admit defeat! If you are due refunds, you have every right to satisfy your claim, but may I suggest acting in sympathy and cooperation, rather than with ugly accusations and snarky attitudes. Im sure Marty and Lauren want to make things right. When we treat each other with kindness, good prevails. Yes, you may find the lack of returned phone calls suspicious, but Martys illness affected his memory and thought process. Why was he taking phone calls? Because his wife maybe was working off site..and they didnt take a salary. Just speculation on my part, but I think anyone who had knowledge of what was going on would not be so fast to criticize. I pray this couple and their family get returned to health, that their dogs perhaps retire, and they satisfy the claims made against them to the best of their ability. Amen.
In response to “owner”Do you not remember Jameson he was born 6/5/17 when you still had litters at your house. We picked him up from your store on west ridge road shortly after you opend in august of 2017.He was akc registered so I’m not sure how I would fabricate a story. Hopefully now people are aware that you don’t remember people or dogs all you care about is money. EmbarrassingI’m writing this about 3 years late but I don’t want anyone to go thru what I have been thru with these people. We purchased a black lab puppy from them in 2017, he was a great dog and all was fine for 18 months. All of a sudden we went out for a walk and he just hit the ground and died right in front of me. I waited a few days to go and talk to Marty, not to ask about compensation or anything like that, just to let him know what happend and to see if anyone else had issues like this.when I did he was unresponsive, rude and the worst part is he tried to give me a 4 year old dog with medical issues. Normally I wouldn’t do this but I just don’t want any other families to go they what I experienced........ stay away
Labs of love needs to be put out of business. They breed aggressive labs and never tell you. Our dog was diagnosed at three months and we spent thousands trying to correct his behavior. His entire liter has already been put down and sadly, we had too. He was THREE years old. The owners don’t care. Please, I beg you do not buy from them!!!!
Awful place and awful people! We put a deposit on a puppy in Octobet 2017. We received a phone call in November that we had a puppy and we could come in and visit it. Upon our visit to see the puppy Lauren told us we needed to make another installment payment. Two weeks later Marty called to tell us that our puppy died. He told us we could have another puppy in January. We decided to try and find another breeder since this was a Christmas present for our boys. We found one and then called Lauren to get our money back. Lauren told us that she doesnt think they still have the money and Marty would contact us the next day. Guess what? Marty never called. After calling multiple times myself and no answer I decided to show up. Guess who answered the phone when I called from the parking lot? Thats right it was Marty saying he wasnt in. So in I walk to confront him. After a load of BS Marty says he will need a few weeks to get the money. So here we are over 4 months later and no money and nobody answers when we call. I will never deal with them again. Marty and Lauren are nothing more then criminals running a puppy mill!
Buyer BewareI purchased a chocolate female pup in October of 2020. I paid $1,900 which was discounted from the standard $2,000 price. Upon picking up the pup, I was told I didnt provide ample time for breeder to bathe dog - noteworthy...there was a horrible odor in pups fur lasting days until we went against advisement of using only water and bathed her with an organic puppy shampoo - one treatment wasnt enough.Faced with the incredibly difficult decision to seek the breeders help in re-homing our puppy, he was overwhelmingly supportive and stated hed find a new appropriate home.During the short six days the pup was with us, we noticed behavioral issues unlike weve ever seen - as an aside, we had previously had a chocolate lab from another Rochester breeder and he lived until almost 14! Upon added reflection, we feel this pup may have had separation anxiety challenges leaving her mom too soon coupled with the alarming health issue at such a young age.Ahead of our returning pup, I alerted the breeder of our vet checks discovery of a positive test for Ova and Parasite - a dangerous level of Roundworm (Toxocara) Eggs was present - the breeders response was all pups get worms and showed no concern - this was especially surprising when alerting him of the pups reunion with her mom inside his home and around other dogs. The breeder offered to meet me halfway from my house to pick up pup and stated if he re-homed pup, hed send me most of the $1,900 less expenses. The breeded stated he interviewed many families over the next 12 days. While I thought this was a surprisingly long time and knowing there was a person who wanted this same pup ahead of me by minutes, I offered suitable owners I lined up.The breeder stated he found a new owner and a perfect match - they paid what breeder referred to as only $1,500 - after he previously received offers of $1,000, $1,200 and $1,400.The breeded offered me only $800. I objected to his $700 in expenses which were inaccurate (e.g. trip to Waterloo although I offered to come to his house - perhaps, his mentioning the enjoyment of returning to the casino and winning money says something).I requested the breeders reconsidering a more meaningful settlement and noting the time passing and not hearing from him, he then offered to stop payment on the check he allegedly sent in the mail. I ignored his text message and never heard from him again, nor did I see the check in the mail.I tried to gain the support of the BBB, NY State Dept. Agriculture and Markets and NY State Attorney Generals Office, but the breeder disputed my claims with not compromise. The last thing I wanted to do is pursue legal action for the monies due and as promised - to this end, my attorney reached out to the breeder and he didnt respond. My only recourse was to litigate and as of today, the breeder continues to dispute my claim and is now pursuing legal action against me.Simply stated, I was looking for the breeder to do the right thing and this hasnt happened. There are laws in NY to protect the buyers of dogs and unfortunately, this breeder isnt willing to comply - not to mention, his contract has a blacked out paragraph where language references refunds - shame on me for thinking this breeder would act fair and equitable.5/21/21 Update: Upon the preliminary virtual conference with NYS Supreme Court, the breeder and I have agreed not to proceed with my legal actions moving to trial and accordingly, settle. While faced with the uncertainty and wait to reach a jury trial extending into 2022 and moreover my inability to seek resolve (personally and legally) into a seventh month coupled with the added legal expenses, I have finally relented.Simply stated, I was merely looking for the breeder to do the right thing.I have incurred a large sum of legal fees coupled with veterinary expense.I received $1,000 from this breeder.Noteworthy, the breeder sold this very same puppy twice and received $3,400. My accepting the refund will now end the breeders counter claim against me.
Not for nothing Marty but I contacted you months ago to tell you Vader was sick and that you were told not to breed his parents again. You said you would get back to me, you showed not a ounce of compassion for my dog or our family. Now we just had a xray done on him and not only does he have hip dysplasia but he has elbow dysplasia very bad, so bad that it will cost us over $150 a month to maintain his health. I recommended a friend to you guys earlier in and they also bought a dog from you. That dog has health problems too. Hmmm what are the odds? You charge $1000 for a dog and make people fall in love with them only to have medical problems. Real nice! You. Know what I think? Your breeding these dogs way to much and thats why they have problems. Once the people take them you dont care anymore because you got paid. You should be ashamed of yourself. I knew that day I hung up with you I wouldnt hear from you because you showed no interest in my dog being sick. I hope everyone reads this. I wouldnt recommend these people at all. There so nice at first, there selling sick dogs! They dont care about these animals. You should be ashamed!!!!
We take our dog, Bruce to labs of love about 2-3 times a week and we absolutely love it! Everyone is incredibly friendly and Bruce has such a wonderful time. Hes exhausted when he comes home and so excited when he gets there. I cant say enough wonderful things about Labs of Love!
Never taking our dog here again. My father in law dropped off our dog and picked her up. He got there to pick her up and her bed wasnt with her and they only Gave him one food dish. So on our way home from the airport we swung by and I asked about her bed and the dish and they brought out her other dish and it was all beat up and dented. Then the girl told meShe was in this cage and I never seen a bed in there. I was like great. So we get home and find they sent a dog bed home just not our dog bed.
Boarded the dogs here for 1 night. There is no discount even though both dogs shared a kennel. Dog bed we left for them was soaked with pee when we picked them up. As soon as we brought the dogs home they went straight for the water bowl and drank for 5 minutes. I will not leave my dogs with them again.
It’s going to be 5 years since I got my pup from Marty. Everyday I am so thankful for them. My Trooper is in great health and we never had any issues. His personality is so goofy but so kind. He’s the sweetest dog I know. Thank you guys for my sweet boy!
Clean facilities, friendly staff, dogs seem well bred and carefully selected. All the older dogs Ive met have had very mild and friendly personalities and very tame. The puppies are of course perilously cute.
My fiancé has sent several emails to which none have been answered. Not contacting them anymore and certainly wouldnt recommend any business that doesnt return responses to potential customers. My fiancé is Adam Nowak. he has emailed them twice.
Surprised our mom for mother’s day with a chocolate lab. They were super helpful and made sure to answer all of our questions. We love our puppy and everyone is so impressed with how well behaved he is at 6 months old. I would highly recommend!!
Great people who run and own the place I have an American bull dog and a now a puppy boxer I only took my bull dog there for boarding they loved him and they were great blue came home happy he was not disturbed at all they give great advice. And it is a clean facility my only choice and now my other family who have furry children as well.
Terrible service. I went in there with my friend last week and marty looked at me like we weren’t capable of buying a dog. I had already bought my dog there 3 years ago almost! I love himMore than anything. Sad new is he now has many medical issues and the owners did not even care when my mom called them up to tell them ! Marty told my mom he would call back amd never did. This just proves that u dont care about these poor animals. U all should be eshamed . U take peoples money and sell sick dogs and let people love these dogs to find out they are sick. This service has been very unprofessional towards my family and others as well! The more people discover the less business you people are gonna get ! I suggest fixing what you guys think is making your money before you lose your business. You guys dont care about these poor animals suffering and it should be illegal.
Nice people and very nice atmosphere
Very helpful and caring
