I had to bring Gucci in for her winter haircut, so I brought her to Madagascar pet services. This is her second time getting groomed by Carlos, and I trust him to take good care of Gucci. He always gives her the perfect cut and takes his time with her. What I really love about Madagascar pet services is that they dont keep Gucci locked up - shes always happy to see Carlos, and she came out looking adorable. Im so happy with her winter look, thank you for always doing an amazing job on my baby Gucci!

I brought in an elderly severely matted cat. Rosie was very kind and gentle. She is knowledgeable about clump removal and animal health. She took the time to make sure she didnt damage my cats very delicate skin. Making an appointment was easy. Its a well-run establishment. Prices were very reasonable too. I really appreciate the help! Thank you!!!

Two years later, we still come to Rosie for our dog’s grooming. Adding a before photo to compare what an amazing job she does each time! We also get his teeth scaled here. Never had an issue and our dog comes home happy each time. Not to mention his ears are so difficult to cut but Rosie always does the cleanest job! We cant go anywhere else after we found her. Thank you again!

We had a horrible experience, she seemed very nervous and discouraged. I asked that she shape my female dogs face nicely and that she please not shave her. She did exactly as I asked her not to, my dog is now bald and she has cuts all over! Her facial hair is uneven and her nail is swollen from being cut incorrectly. I also showed her a picture of what I wanted her to do to my male dog. She did absolutely nothing, I watched her from the outside window. My dog wouldnt stay still, so she pulled him by his ear very aggressively! I went inside and she yelled at me, stating I wasnt allowing her to do her job. I informed her that if he was too much for her to handle, I would take my business else where. She said no she can handle it, she spoke rudely and made me feel very uncomfortable. I should have ran out of there, when we arrived there was a couple almost in tears. Their dog was bleeding from his paw and his shirt was full of blood. The owner told us she cut his dogs nail the wrong way, he told us to cancel our appointment. I figured maybe the dog moved and that isnt something that happens often. I was wrong, Im not sure how she has over a 4 star rating. Her work and manners are horrible, spend your money wisely! DONT suffer the anger and hurt that I suffered, after seeing how my dogs looked. My poor dogs looked so scared and I normally dont write reviews. But I had to express myself and let everyone know what this woman did.I only now noticed her pictures and response, tell her to zoom in!👇🏼

It was the first time for my 4 month old Goldendoddle puppy to go to the groomer, I did in-depth research and read all the reviews and decided to take him to Madagascar Pet services and I LOVED IT!! They took care of every detail, my dog wasnt scared at all and she was happy jumping on the spot. She has a delicious smell and her haircut was wonderful, and they cleaned every area of ​​her body. I wont change this place for anything!

Danger! My dog was horribly injured here (photos attached)! Please beware. She needed to be rushed straight from the shop to the emergency vet with severe cornea burns to both eyes. Her eyes had swelled shut and she was in excruciating pain. It took morphine drops to the eyes for her to even open them and weeks of medications and treatments. According to the vet a chemical of some sort got into the eyes and wasn’t flushed out. It was awful! I wish I had never decided to try the new place. My dog has been groomed religiously and never a problem. I have never seen something so awful. I can’t tell you how horrible this was. Please keep your pets safe!9/21/19 - in response to the owners reply - My intent in posting this review was to prevent another dog from suffering the same 3 months of pain and near blindness that my baby did. I did not post this review to spar with you about the event. It happened. Please note the photo of yourself trying to “fix” what happened, as well as my dog right after her grooming as we drove straight to the emergency vet from your salon. Unfortunately, taking legal action would result in a lot of time on my part and only would cover the medical bills, as the law does not acknowledge months of pain and suffering and my missed work and care for an animal. My dog was screaming and couldn’t open her eyes when I picked her up. She couldn’t walk, much less get a haircut. I would be happy to post the videos of you and your staff trying to force drops in her eyes as well if that would be helpful to your story. Also our texts following where you told me you couldn’t afford emergency vet bills. As for the refund - you lost the dispute with my credit card company due to my facts given. You never contacted me or the veterinarian. Because you would not tell me what happened, they had to be careful with treatment and cover every possibility without causing more damage and permanent blindness, or causing further chemical reaction in the cornea. So most likely, she had way more medication than she actually needed, 9 prescriptions to take home, in addition to morphine eyedrops just to stop the howling and get the eyes open. She would have been permanently blind had I not gone immediately. We spoke from the vets office. You told me and the vet it was water. I sent photos of the damage with the vet and you still said it was water.I am happy to follow up with further documentation. I have videos, months of vet treatments and medication, as well as the credit card dispute case that was found in my favor due to my provided evidence. I would be happy to post this information as well. My intent again, was to prevent undue injury to another innocent animal. Not to spar with your business over details. The photos speak for themselves.

Ellie, our poodle, literally runs to the groomers when she realizes where were going (shes less excited when she realizes she has to stay there without us...LOL! But thats just her anxiety.). The store owner, Rosie, is always super friendly and kind and definitely takes care of our girl when shes there. We always get a great cut from here, whether we need it super short in the summer or a little more fur for the winter months. Its our go-to spot in Sunnyside, Queens.

We just had our dog, Sadie, groomed at Madagascar Pet Services and we’ve never seen her cuter! Rosy was so kind and worked extra hard to help our anxiety filled girl feel comfortable. The booking process was so quick and easy, too! We can’t wait to bring Sadie back💕

Koa had been coming here for about 2 years and we’ve had a good experience! I really appreciate that they take their time with Koa— especially since he hates getting his hair dried. I would rather have a groomer who takes their time to ensure that the pups are comfortable and safe, rather than someone who rushes through a grooming appointment. Grooming can be tough for pups, so finding a loving groomer in our neighborhood is very important to us.

This a great local groomer/pet care spot in the neighborhood. Ive been here many times with my little dog. Rosie is very helpful, and friendly and easy to communicate with via email and quick to help with setting up an appointment when I need one. My dog doesnt much like bath time or being left behind at the groomers so the tail goes down when I bring him in - but shes always very reassuring and kind with him and he LOVES how he feels afterwards and struts his stuff with the tail held high on the walk home! He always looks like a little boy once he has his hair cut :) I like that shes on the ball about making sure hes up to date with his vaccines etc. as it shows she cares about all the animals she works with and keeping them healthy and safe. She has a file with notes about my dog too so knows what his quirks are. Very happy to support this local business and her prices are worth it. Thank you Rosie!!!!

I was a little nervous to bring Sam here since so many reviews seem to be from folks with smaller or medium sized dogs so I definitely wanted to share my thoughts on our experience. I was very clear on what services I wanted and they were very clear on what would be provided and how much each part of the service would cost. They fit Sam in the day I called and Sam has never looked this beautiful before. The salon is small but they know their stuff and were super kind and personable. While I’m confident in the occasional home bath and in regular brushing on my own, I am absolutely going to come back here for trims and deshedding treatments. Do some research on what they offer and give them a try.

Rosie is the absolute best dog groomer available in Sunnyside. My pup Mia has gone there twice now and comes out with a beautiful cut. Consider how wiggly she can be, it is just a testament to Rosie’s professionalism, patience, and passion for pup that my Mia can come out looking gorgeous every time. So glad I have found my new local groomer! You won’t regret coming to Madagascar Pets.

Rosie and her son did a great job on my two dogs. They are very pleasant and took good care Bolo and Jean Claude!

Took my dog in to get his teeth scaled. They were covered in tartar and his breath was bad. He had his teeth cleaned years ago and I didn’t want to put him under anesthesia again since he’s a senior and it’s SO expensive to get it done. I’m so grateful to Madagascar Pets for getting his teeth pearly white again. She was extremely patient with my dog during the procedure even though he was scared and moved around a ton. It took 15-20 mins of wrangling but she persisted and got it done. She was really knowledgeable and explained everything to me. His teeth look spectacular and I didn’t have to spend a thousand dollars and risk putting him under to get it done. Thank you Madagascar Pets for keeping my pup healthy!

I’ve taken my puppy 3 times now and love working with Rosa. She is extremely knowledgeable and helps my dog feel at ease. He can be very fidgety but she has a lot of patience and is very gentle with him. Location is also super convenient for anyone in Sunnyside! Definitely recommend.

Rosy is an incredible Groomer! With most other places its just grooming, but with her its so much more. She absolutely loves her job and the animals (especially my baby, Lila) and it shows in her work! I brought my little Oreo in for his first grooming ever. I was admittedly a little nervous as I didn’t know how he would react. Rosy was super understanding and helpful! Rosie is the sweetest, and she’s great with dogs. We’ve had a great experience. Despite my dog being a nervous dog, I walked in to pick him up and he was all over her and playing with toys.I like that they only take one or two dogs max at a time, that’s wonderful. Plus he looked great with his haircut, nails neatly trimmed, it was great. Highly recommend.

I brought my corgi here and had an amazing experience. My pup gets a little nervous in new environments, but Rosy and the rest of the staff took extra care to make sure everything was comfortable. They were very kind and professional, and I could tell they were knowledgeable and experienced. 10/10 would recommend!

Initially making the appointment was already telling of the type of people who run this establishment. When told our dog is a Shiba, the person on the phone seemed very reluctant to give us an appointment. She groaned and just didn’t seem too happy just knowing his breed.Our dog isn’t aggressive (so we don’t own a muzzle, there has never been a need for it) but has extreme anxiety when it comes to bathing. They didn’t ask us anything about his temperament over the phone. Apparently you need to bring your own muzzle to a professional dog groomer who sees hundreds of dogs per month. What a joke.So they turned us down upon arriving to our APPOINTMENT because they had “too many dogs” and didn’t wanna deal with ours. Dogs have personalities and emotions, don’t expect every single dog to love taking baths. If you have a Shiba, I’d go looking elsewhere because it’s clear that they have a preference and might not care for your dog as they do others.

I really liked them. I took my 2 Persian for grooming and they took such excellent care of them. Even sent me pictures of the process. We dropped them off and then received a call when they were ready for pick up. Absolutely lovely staff that were so gentle with my darlings.

My dog is afraid of water and baths at home but Rosie from Madagascar helped her feel comfortable and safe and helped her skin feel good again. The service was very professional. I didnt know dogs could not only use shampoo but also a more sensitive soap for the face and moisturizer. Rosie from Madagascar helped my dog feel comfortable and secure with lots of reassurance. Whenever we walk past the shop, my dog tries to go in to say hi. I highly recommend her service.

Normally, other places don’t do as good of a job with his ears as they always look choppy. But we were so happy with the result after this appointment. My dog who I’m sure like other owners can understand is very picky when it comes to people let alone groomers, which speaks volumes to me as a client and dog owner. This place is amazing and handles my babies with care ! She is the sweetest woman and really cares about the animals that are brought here. I have been coming to Madagascar since I adopted my dog back in 2018 and they have been absolutely wonderful! My dog is normally timid when going to the groomers but they do an excellent job in making her feel relaxed and distracted. Such a great place!!!

I have been going to Rosy for many years, and shes taken care of my pets throughout them. First my Koko (RIP), my sisters dogs (Lucy and Chibi), my brothers dog Seamus, and various neighbors who I recommended to her...there is no one better to take care of our furry loved ones, besides putting great care into her work, and the doggie, she does an excellent job at grooming them, being very professional and with attention to detail. I was talking with Rosy and it seems that some disgusting individual is attacking her and her business via online harassment. She had NINE! 1 star reviews in a single day, on google and Yelp, even going as far as using Google translate to leave a bad review in Spanish. I told her to put this information on Instagram/Facebook so people can help report the spam false reviews, they are very obvious in their vileness. Those of us who actually know Rosy and have used her grooming services, know that she is very knowledgeable and does great work with even the wiggliest of pups, as proven by her years in the grooming business and countless pictures online. My boy has never left looking as good, or as happy as when I take him to Rosys. Hands down best groomer in Sunnyside, highly recommended!

Madagascar pet services did a great job grooming my shy and sometimes petulant poodle. All of the staff were so kind and patient. Definitely recommend!

My one year old westiepoo had gone to a previous groomer thrice, and that third time was just for trimming of nails. I was getting apprehensive of his rapport with my pup, because every time we were by his shop, my puppy would refuse to go in and pull away! And so I started my search for other groomers nearby and came across Madagascar Pet services. Rosie received my call and she was very patient with my questions. A time slot opened up for my pup that same afternoon! Rosie patiently discussed what she thought my pups cut could look like. She explained seasonal considerations for length of fur, opening up the eyes area, and how ears could look. She was not secretive about her set-up and I liked that transparency! I left my pup with Rosie for an hour and a half and at that last moment when I showed up, as Rosie was releasing him to me, I was upset because he nipped her hand and hurt her finger, excited to be released to me. Still, I had never seen my pup more compliant with the grooming process with Rosie. Check out my before and after photos. Thumbs up and hearts to Rosie!

Great place! We take our Maltese here for grooming and we are never disappointed. They go above and beyond and our little fluffy boy loves it!

Refuse to take in my doggy Rex because he seem ill according to them. Rex is up to date with all exams and shots!!!! Truly a big disappointment, heard good things about them but after this never again. Safe your time & look elsewhere SMH

Took my mini Australia Shepard here for the first time. Was originally told it was gonna be 70 dollars. Then when I came to pick him up she said that his weight wasnt what I said (45 pnds) . And she said he was 52 pnds and charged me close to 100 bucks. Took him to the vet the week after and they said he was 42 pnds. So either I got robbed or there scale is broken. They resolved the difference Though, besides that the haircut was great !

Very dated way of grooming, didnt listen to my request. Shaved my dog’s face too low, the cut looked like I did it. Whiskers were totally gone. Cut had no shape or style. I told her I wanted a puppy cut and I love my puppy’s face full like a teddy but a little trim and clean up. I will be going to the city next time.Below is my response to groomerIm sorry that isnt what i requested. That is incorrect and false. Sarafina’s face didnt smell, please dont add insult to injury. Sarafina had an old discoloration and didnt have any smell, i clean her face every night dont insult me. I told you i wanted a full face but you shaved off her entire beard and side of face.You shaved alima whiskers off too much down to the nosePlease update your techinque and cutting style to more modern looks.The shaved look is dated .You took to many hair off. I showed you a picture of exaclty what i wanted.Thanks but we will not be becoming back.

If I could there would be no star , extremely rude ! My dog came in for a classic cut and came out with red eyes and a few cuts on her neck and throat when I asked about this situation the owner Rosie she just completely denied and had no words for me . Not professional at all ! Her work is horrible will never go back again ! Save your money and time !

Google really needs to make 0 stars an option. Please look at the negative reviews. I wish I would have. The customer service is absolutely horrible at this place & for what you pay this establishment is ridiculous. I wish I would have really went with my gut and read the negative reviews. 3/5 stars I can get over but 1 stars no. Pay attention don’t take your pups here you will truly regret.

Very thankful for Madagascar, its the only place that is able to handle my rescue. He always comes out looking really good and happy, they must be doing something right!

I asked them to cut my dogs hair and leave it him with a round face as bichons are known to have and she said sure but when I picked him up it was not what I asked for and on top of it all it was expensive and my dog looked nothing to what I showed her a picture of. And they took 4 hours to make it look like I cut his hair will never be returning.

It was only two weeks passed I have been took my cat for nails work. Just charged to me 20$ it was ok. Then this this weekI took my cat again and we did good conversation with worker. Then when work is done she asked 28$ then when I told her I was paid 20$ and she said ‘money was growing ok ok 25$. Only for nail works” and I will NEVER GO BACK there. This is annoying...

So friendly and took great care of our puppy. Gave him and excellent full grooming! We will be back soon!

I came in for a few questions about a special haircut for my little Yorkie and after talking with this lady named Rosie she told me no problem for that haircut after that I noticed the hygienic in the store is not very up to date there was alot of dust and hair on the floor I saw her bucket of tools on the trash can I dont know if its normal but I didnt feel comfortable any more so I decided to not book my appointment and now that Im reading these reviews Im glad I didnt take my baby here

We had a great first experience at Madagascar Pet Services today. Our puppy had never been groomed before and so we were a bit nervous as she is an anxious dog, but they all took such good care of her, and she was in great spirits when we picked her up. We will definitely be back!

Someone recommended this place and we have it a shot since It was close to us but did not get a good experience. The lady was charging us for extra large dog for a 20 pound dog and also charged us for knots. We told them we would pay them because we were expecting a good service. Been to a lot of different places and never was this dishonest like this. We were told 3hrs and we would get a call but after calling multiple times and waiting 5hrs, they told us to come pick him in 30min. We got out puppy back and found multiple “knots” and looked like they spend 10mins on the haircut. He still smelled and there was a black glue on his paw. Worst experience and I do not recommend it. It wasn’t about the money, we were just looking for a good place where we can trust and make sure he was treated with love. Never going here again, don’t mind driving 1hr for a better experience

I wouldn’t take my pets anywhere else! I was hesitant because I had a very poor experience at other locations but this place exceeded my expectations. Customer service is out of this world! Great prices! Don’t look elsewhere, come here!

Amazing groomer! Our high energy, anxious puppy always leaves the salon looking fresh and perfect! Im impressed that the groomer is able to keep our pup calm and comfortable enough to be still for the entire process–really impressive, professional work. Best of the best! Everytime I take my pup to the Vet, she is 13 yes old, they are always shocked how clean her teeth are and think she is younger! That is because Rose cleans and does scaling! Zuzu always looks amazing and Rose does exactly what I expect. I have tried others and my poodle comes back either shaven w/ no style or distraught at the experience. Rose is the BEST!

I brought my cat, Mushu in for a nail trim and I was pleasantly surprised by Rosie’s professionalism and efficiency. Normally, Mushu is a fussy cat when it comes to getting his nails trim, but he was in good hands. Thank you Madagascar, Mushu and I will be back!
