A and E Quality Shih Tzus

Our puppy has been with us since August and is roughly 6 months old now. He is thriving! Rick and Sharon were fantastic. Rick provided us with a plethora of knowledge to set us up for success when raising this little guy. We are so happy with A and E Quality Shih Tzus!

One week in and I have a happy and healthy puppy who is loving all the attention of her new family! I cannot say enough about Rick and Sharon! They made the whole process smooth and easy! Rick made sure I had all the info I needed in order to ensure my puppy was well taken care of, and Sharon kept me updated with pictures each week until I was able to pick up my puppy! We brought Ellie home on April 7th, she was born February 5th, she is almost 7 months old. She loves camping, playing in the dirt, playing ball, digging in the sand box with my son. She is a joy to have in our home. She was potty trained a month after we got her home. I get compliments all the time on how pretty and soft she is. Well worth the money. My fiancé and I just picked up our sweet new baby boy Snapper (now named Marlo) from Rick and Sharon yesterday and we couldn’t be more in love!The experience with A and E has been amazing. Rick was incredibly responsive from the start when I inquired about purchasing our puppy once we saw him on their site and I was so impressed by the process and how knowledgeable Rick was and how willing he was to share that knowledge. We received weekly photos from Sharon and had the option to do a weekly visit, unfortunately we live in Maryland so we opted not to do that. We had several training calls with Rick on potty training and shih tzu development that were invaluable and we learned so much about the breed and how to set our puppy up for success from his first night with us. I couldn’t be more happy with our experience and I would recommend A and E Quality Shih Tzu Breeders to anyone looking for a loving shih tzu to add to their family!

We adopted adorable little Ping. over three weeks ago and couldn’t be happier. While we had been the happy owners of several Lhasa Apso dogs over the years, I was so grateful to Rick and Sharon for their time, patience and instruction on the special features and needs of owning and training a toy breed like a Shih Tzu. Had we not had the generous time provided by the breeder, I think we would have mistakenly assumed the training and care was identical to our previous dogs and that could have been detrimental to the health and development of the puppy. We decided to get another puppy a while ago but werent having much luck finding a breeder until we found Rick and Sharon. What a blessing! The entire process from start to finish was so much fun. We picked out our puppy and then got to go visit her every week until she was 8 weeks old. Rick is a wealth of knowledge both on the breed (and dogs in general) and provided a ton of useful training information. We just brought Bella Blu home yesterday and she seems to be adjusting well. We are confident that we have been armed with the tools necessary to train her and look forward to having her as a part of our family for many years to come. A&E Quality Shih Tzus is a reputable breeder that does everything by the book. They are very knowledgeable about Shih Tzus. They love each of their dogs and care for them with timely and up to date vetting and grooming. They socialize their dogs with each other and their family. Every dog I met was wonderful. They are trustworthy and have contracts that they back up. I have to drive 3 hours to get to their location, but it is worth the time. I feel confident that I am getting the best purebred AKC Shih tzu puppy.It has been 9 months with our little girl and she has been just a joy. She is pretty calm hardly barks, seems intelligent and learns the routines quickly. I am very confident that her good breeding and the quiet environment at the breeder has contributed to our happy healthy loveable new member of our family.e

Rick and Sharon raise Thepuppies right in their home. From the very beginning of the process Rick spent a great deal of time answering all my questions and explaining his fair procedure for getting a puppy. Once we were able to reserve one, he allowed my husband and me to visit the puppy up to one time per week. Each time we visited he educated us on all aspects of ShihTzu care, everything from feeding, crating, behavior, etc. Even though I thought I knew something about raising a puppy, he truly enlightened us and was extremely knowledgeable. Sharon was kind enough to send us pictures of our Pup, Maui. When we were able to take our puppy home we felt very well prepared for what to expect and how to handle it. After only a week of having the puppy, his techniques have proven to be excellent. I highly recommend A and E Shih Tzus.

We adopted our sweet boy, Gin almost 2 years ago now. He is the best dog! Came to us very healthy and well taken care of. Rick and Sharon are just the best. Rick is extremely knowledgeable about the breed and Sharon takes such great care of the dogs. Two weeks ago Thursday, I picked up my precious Bella 🐾💗🐾. Rick and Sharon were the best! So knowledgeable about the shih tzu breed, as well as dogs in general. Rick helps so much with education and training, and prepared several lessons that I recorded for future reference. Thanks to Rick, Bella has been sleeping the entire night in her crate, and “does her business” outside …(provided I have my eyes on her and know the “signs” that she needs to go). They encourage you to come and see your puppy weekly, if you can. However, if you can’t, Sharon will send weekly pictures of your puppy and Rick can give you the lessons over the phone. The whole process was seamless, and if you listen to Ricks advice, you will have a happy, well behaved little dog 💗I couldn’t be happier, Bella has already brought me great joy! I highly recommend!

My wife & I recently purchased 2 Shih Tzu puppies from Rick & Sharon. I read some of the reviews on them, before traveling an hour away to check out their puppies. EVERY review I read, did not have 1 negative comment. It seemed impressive, but I had to actually check it out for myself. Well this review will be the same as the rest! Rick & Sharon are second to no one in the Shih Tzu breeders industry. The care & professionalism they extend to both the puppies & their buyers is so encouraging. Sharon takes care of every one of these treasures, as if she will be keeping them as her own. While Rick takes the time (once a week if you desire) for 1 1/2 hours to train you on the Shih Tzu breed while you spend very important bonding time with your puppy. My mom just adopted a Shih Tzu from here and this was by far the best experience our family has had with getting a new puppy. The fact that we were able to visit with Jax multiple times before bringing him home really helped him get used to us and with the acclimation process. Rick and Sharon are a wonderful couple and really knowledgeable about this breed. Any questions and/or concerns were addressed and they genuinely care about their dogs and about this breed. From Day 1 , Rick and Sharon have proven themselves to be outstanding breeders . Not only for the beautiful puppies they raise but also for the love they demonstrate for each of their animals . Having been in business 30+ years , they are a wealth of information .Prior to our puppy being born and after , we spent time with them weekly discussing a variety of subjects. From food , to cage/house breaking , vets , medicines , groomers, the intricacies of Shih Tzu s etc . After 8 weeks we walked away with our puppy but more importantly with the knowledge that we were well prepared to be successful fur parents !! One of the greatest benefits to us is the open invitation from Sharon and Rick to call or visit them at any time if we have questions or concerns . Im in the process of getting a puppy, the same day that I placed my first phone call the owner reached out to me and let me a very detailed response. I just called them back and the owner Rick, he was on the phone with me for a good 20 minutes, he was explaining the process step by step, very knowledgeable very respectful very kind and believe me when our conversation was over i had this good feeling that I had found the place I was looking for. Went here last week to visit a new liter of puppies. My son and I got to hold a little female fur baby. She was so tiny, tiny I was afraid to hold her. I of course fell in love and put my deposit down. There were a few dogs out, all shitzus and very friendly, one just come climbing into my lap, if it was a female I would have taken it. Rick answered all my questions explained to me things about the breed I was concerned about. Shirley has been doing this for over 30 years and the dogs and puppies were just beautiful. We get to visit our fur baby every week until she comes home on April 4th. Here are a couple of pictures of our new little peanut. I called and spoke to Rick and just the information I learned from that first conversation alone was invaluable. The whole process from beginning to end was a great experience and what I love is how Rick took the time to educate us on how to raise a healthy Shih Tzu for the duration of their lives through weekly phone lessons. Shannon sent weekly photos and it was as if I was watching our puppy quickly grow. I recommend these guys hands down, you can’t go wrong with them. Cheesy website, poor graphics, they should focus more on their social media presentation and have at least some of the prices listed. Maybe photos of last liters, pics of moms and dads they need, etc and how someone like myself to re- create and modernize their website. It gives the impression youre going to get an inferior quality animal, which Im sure isnt the case!

We decided to find a Shih Tzu when our Westie passed, and a search on the internet led us to A and E Shih Tzu. Luckily, we live within driving distance, so for the next 6 weeks we had our Shih Tzu lessons. Rick is a tough teacher—I took notes! We are now at home, practicing his method. It is not easy: be prepared to set your timer, measure kibble, and teach simple commands. Bodhi Soft Dog is now over ten weeks, and he has not made a single mistake in his bathroom habits! Of course, we are vigilant with 2 eyes on the pup when he is out of the crate. I made a 68” square crate cover with fleece from JoAnn Fabrics (it takes 3 yards) with left over pieces to make toys with. The 90 minute “in the crate” time minimum and the 90 minutes “out of crate” maximum was hard to figure out at first, but WORTH THE WORK. Little Bodhi is sleeping through the night (no pee or poop in the crate!) and is so much fun. We are working on harness training and No Finger Biting. Rick and Sharon are real professionals: every detail from health care to daily life are taught with humor and great stories. We were lucky; when we called to inquire about a puppy, someone had just changed their mind on their puppy so there was no wait. Rick has continued to answer all my questions and worries since Bodhi came home. I wish every dog breeder was this knowledgeable and generous with their time. Five stars, absolutely.

We got one of our dogs from them 5 years ago. She is a perfect little princess. She is the alpha of our pack, as Sherry said she would be. She has never had any major health concerns. They have great lineage and genetic diversity. If I lived closer I would get all my dogs from Rick & Sherry. You can tell they truly care about the life of each and every dog they raise. We still keep in touch and send updated pictures every birthday. Wonderful people, excellent breeders, cannot say enough good things about them.

Sharon and Rick were beyond helpful to my wife and I. Before bringing our Shih Tzus home, we were given a great amount of knowledge, and well coached, so that we would be prepared for caring for our little guy. Rick and Sharon took such good care of my little Miyuki, hes growing up to be so healthy and active. I honestly cant get enough of him, Miyuki is worth every penny. Rick took the time to give me some very useful advice to take care of my dog and the advice he gave me works very well. Sharon took the time to take a picture of my dog once every week to see how well he is growing. I honestly cant thank them enough, trust me your dog will be in the best care for their first 8 weeks of life!

We purchased our Shih Tzu from Rick and Sharon this past week. We went out there for each of the 8 weeks and learned some great information and dos and donts for raising our dog properly. While we have had a Shih Tzu dog in the past Rick really knows his information and makes some great recommendations, plus he has a good sense of humor. His process is very rigorous to adopt as you cannot just call and say you want one, you need to text message him daily until one of his dogs has a litter and then must follow his procedure to respond quickly to the message that you are one of the first couple in line to get one and then pay your deposit. Understand that this IS a business and they take this seriously but there is no doubt you will get to realize they love their animals and wish you to be a good owner as well. After going through the last 8 weeks I had gained an appreciation for why he does what he does, its to weed out those who want one on a whim and are not committed to the animal. I believe Rick also is testing you throughout the process to make sure you are a good fit for the dog and will assure it a long life. We are very satisfied so far with the puppy and it has a great personality. I would highly recommend A & E Quality Shih Tzus to anyone committed to a well birthed and healthy puppy.
