My partner and I recently adopted a year old orange cat former named Silas (now spice) about 5 months ago. Over all the process was fairly easy we were welcomed to come meet and interact with him. Which we did we were notified about the details on him. I would have to say I found it to be a very cramped space for the amount of cats that were there and it seemed to me that they had sick cats kenneled in the same room as the cats that were going to there forever homes. But I do understand funding for shelters is scarce and there working with what they have. The workers all seem to be volunteers. I could tell they cared very much for the animals and had great knowledge about each cat. Overall great experience and we got too take home our beautiful Spiceπ«Άπ»
I have been deeply disappointed in the snap program of Cortland, N.Y. I have a family member that recently adopted a cat as a gift for theyβre child for Christmas, and today my family has to tell this child that her gift (cat) will have to be put to sleep because he wasnβt carefully examined and deemed healthy enough to be adopted and not this child will experience heart break because of the negligence of this program. I would strongly suggest that these animals be more carefully examined before adoption takes place so others are not heartbroken so soon. Shame on snap for misrepresenting themselves as a rescue program and asking for donations from people only to break the hearts of those who do try to come to their rescue. I will never support this organization again. Think twice before going there.
We recently adopted a bonded pair of kittens from CNYSNAP. Samhain formerly known as Joe and Stevie formerly known as Mini. The volunteers were wonderful and took great care of the kittens while they were awaiting adoption. Samhain and Stevie acclimated quickly once home, and we enjoy seeing their personalities emerge. Stevie is still shy but has made great strides in coming out of her shell. Samhain is very loving and allows Stevie to get some of the attention now. We look forward to many years with Samhain and Stevie, they are much loved members of our family.
They really care about the animals! And they care about the humans also. The spay and neuter program is great and affordable! They are not like the name the world knows. They depend on donations! Instead of giving your money to the corrupt corporation that starts with an S the world knows give your donation to SNAP. Call and go visit. Volunteer, foster or adopt.
If I could get this negative stars I would. The women I talked to was super condescending made it seem like Ive never owned a cat before, when I currently have 1 other cat. The lady gave me bipolar answers first saying its fine to have another cat to socialize with then telling me the opposite a few minutes later. She asked me how often Ill be home, just like any other person, I have work to tend to, to be able to support my cat. Almost like they were expecting me to be home 24/7 with this cat shoved up my butt. In all this lady I spoke just needs to go inappropriate questions and just condescending the entire time, and needs to go.
I honestly understand looking out for the safety of the pets in the shelter and who they go to... However I definitely think the staff is unprofessional. My whole conversation with the lady who took my application was her being very condescending towards me. Not only that it seemed like all she did was probe for reasons to deny the application I sent in. Asking what I do for a job and if I work from home? Then asking who takes my dog out if I work all day, like everyone with a pet stays home to stare at them 24/7. I also have my dog esa certified and she asked what do I need an emotional support animal for? Like huh what does any of that have to do with adopting a cat? She also stated she wanted the cat to have a second cat to go home with. I informed her I had another cat at home already with updated shot records and she proceeded to say well I dont know it doesnt seem like a good idea. Like alright lady stop wasting my time. Ill go a shelter that actually cares about finding animals a home.
Adoption of a 8-10 year old cat was easy and quick! Moo Moo is very loved and is living his best life π
Donβt waste your time applying for a cat at the Dewitt Petsmart. They kept ignoring my fiancΓ© and I. Filled out my paperwork they yelled at us something about βdue to covid we canβt have two people in here with the cats. Ok I asked if I could see said cat myself nope not today a different day. Next day my fiancΓ© gets a text message which is honestly very unprofessional saying we canβt get the cat we wanted because we would NEED another kitten with her. Weird because it did not say that anywhere on their FB post where they advertised her. Ok cool we then asked if I can adopt two oh you would have to go through the process twice. Then they added a totally uncalled for comment for us to adopt in our own area. Rude people really. We have drove 4 hours for our other pets because we are HUGE animal lovers and the drive does not matter to us. I fell in love with the kitten because she reminded me of my childhood cat. I am also home 99.9% of time because Iβm disabled the kitten would never be alone. Very odd that I would need another kitten with her. Then we called Petsmart and talked to an employee there and we were told we did not NEED another cat in order to have to get her. They would just prefer to have a kitten already for her. We were also told that we definitely shouldβve been able to meet the cat. Itβs funny because my mother who tried getting a cat from them a few years ago couldnβt get a cat through them because she already had a cat which she had gotten from them (Dewitt Petsmart) 16 years ago still alive healthy and up to date on shots. Still wouldnβt let her adopt through them. Seems like they will just say anything for you to not adopt a cat. Very frustrating for someone who felt for them when they keep posting how theyβre overflowing with cats right now that need homes, but they donβt want to give them homes. I get that you need to be strict with who gets cats because a lot of people are crappy, but itβs not fair to be so rude to actual good pet owners. 0/5 stars
The Lady handling the adoption process is so rude, condescending, and demeaning. The entire time she kept digging for a reason to deny my application. She said they prefer homes with cats, I respond that I have a cat not just my golden retriever and now that might be too much. Asked me if I work from home as if every pet owner does and needs to. Then condescendingly asked well if you work then who even takes out your dog, then poked into his ESA certification and questioned why I need an ESA. Way overstepping what they should be asking not to mention the tone the whole time. For a place that is supposed to help animals and find them new homes youd think they would have someone that actually wants to help them running the adoption process, and not just talk down to people.
Friendly volunteers. They are not affiliated with the SPCA which alot of people assume they are. They could use dog food, cat litter, cat food and monetary donations. The money charged for spays and neuters go to the veterinarians so any donations are appreciated to pay rent, electric etc...
I wanted to comment on the negative reviews of Cny. Some of you might notice theres no funding for them to get a bigger better place. Theyre doing the best they can with what theyve got. So if you naysayers have money to donate...time to help or a building they could use feel free to speak up or go volunteer...give money..supplies anything to help them. Theyre doing the best they can yes its cramped but what choice is there? Anybody? I cant hear you? So instead of your crappy comments why dont you HELP THEM!I hoped everybody gets the point or you think letting these cats roam the streets hungry and cold.injured..sick is the better way to go...you should keep comments to yourself
Such a great bunch of people trying to keep the cat population down by spaying and neutering for so much less than usual also they get all there shots ,flea treatment, and pampered with pedicures, highly recommend
They got me in right away and helped me get my service pup spayed, chipped, and vaccines. They are very courteous and took good care of my fur baby. They need all the help they can get to keep on operating and making a difference in the world... Sasha and I are very grateful and will definitely be back to donate... Thank you so much!!!!
These guys are seriously the best and have so much love and care for all of the cats they have and the job they do. Just adopted from them a few weeks ago and they couldnβt have made the adoption process any better!
What a great organization. All volunteers that do their very best.
This place is by far a blessing. It broke my heart and warmed it at the same time taking the broken kitten I found there. Its so sad to see the amount of unclaimed cats and kittens. But I know this kitten is in good hands. Thank you ladies for all that you do.
Incredible people- so kind and helpful. The vet took amazing care of my kitten who had to have emergency surgery.
Ive have my Aurora spayed there last year and my little Monkey Boy neutered last month and have had great experience with both. Would definitely recommend them. Very reasonable prices, wont find any cheaper.
Brought my stray there about 2 weeks ago because I already have 2 cats otherwise I would have loved to have kept him. I think about him every day as we shared a bond, and from what I know of cnysnap so far Iβm confident he is taken good care of. They gave him medical attention and he felt so much better. Iβm so thankful this establishment have rules of who can adopt and who canβt and they stick by it. I would ONLY want him to go to a safe and loving family especially after the very horrific life he led on the street. He deserves the best life ahead. Thank you so much cnysnap for everything and for watching out and taking care of this little sweetheart!
My girlfriend and I recently attended an adoption event at the PetSmart in Marshallβs Plaza. We asked the woman running the event if we could have an adoption application. Her first question was if we were students. We answered yes, and her response was: βWe donβt adopt to students.β When we asked why, she replied βWe just donβt.β We then explained to her that we live at home with two adults (my girlfriendβs parents, who own the house) and commute to school. She asked if we had another cat at home, per the requirements for the cat we wanted to adopt, and we said βYes.β (We have a one year-old kitten we rescued from the streets when she was 3 months old). She seemed surprised as if she was hoping weβd say no and gave another excuse to not let us adopt. She shook her head and still said βNo.β When we asked her why she wouldnβt let us have an application, she said βWe just canβt.β Very unprofessional, rude, and she had nothing to support their reasoning. We walked out with no application, and that kitten doesnβt know they missed out on a loving home with another cat and two loving parents. If your goal is to get cats adopted and into loving homes, then you are failing your mission by having rude and inconsiderate employees. We were also interested in a blind cat up for adoption, whose cage said they need βa very special home.β I know we would have given that cat everything it deserved and all the love in the world; and I bet you not many other people will want to do that for their precious soul. Beyond disappointed and heartbroken.
This program, Owner and all the volunteers are great. They have been serving the community for over 10 years. I know this because they have helped me and Ive volunteered to them in the past. Ive seen how well they take care of the animals. How they run their clinics. There is a lot of love and care that goes into everything they do. They may not get right back to you or thier answering machine may be full. But thats because they are taking care of the animals and will get back to you as soon as they can. They are doing things the right way and are helpful to so many people and animals thats why they have been around for a decade
Been looking for a place to have my Rocket spayed. They got her in quickly. They were excellent about explaining everything over the phone the day before. I was apprehensive about bringing my cat because a friend of mine mentioned her brothers cat passed while getting spayed (NOT at this location). The lady on the phone assured me that that is very rare, and I was doing the right thing by bringing her. The only negative was the wait to drop off/pick up. I appreciate all the volunteers! Highly recommend!
The staff are great and provide quality care. They care about the fur babies. I adopted a loving, beautiful disabled feline with cataracts. The cats at the event did not exhibit undue stress from the transportation and relocation for the event. Staff were friendly. I was vetted in a very respectful, non-confrontational manner. I appreciated the conversation and time taken by staff to ensure a successful adoption. I only wish I had a large piece of property and housing to adopt more than one. The cats were in beautiful shape and comfortable with us humans. Lets continue to support CNYSNAP for the service they provide. Her name is Jolene
This place is fantastic Ive gone here twice taken in a total of ten cats and i cant say enough they are fantastic individuals that care actually care about your animal its not just a paycheck
I dont think ppl realize what SNAP really does, they take care of cats that are left behind for various reasons, these cats would be strays on the streets if SNAP wasnt thereIts sad that ppl can fail so many felines within the city mostly, so many are just left to fend for themselvesSNAP gives them a better chance of finding a new familyWhile housing them they are fed, watered, kept clean, have clean liter boxes, 2 times a day also spayed, neutered, medical attention and cared about with love with hopes that they will be given a home with someone that will provide the same care and love that SNAP gives to so many felines looking for a forever home
I volunteered at this place a long time ago and I have seen first-hand what goes on here. These people are always very busy and always trying hard to keep up with cleaning. If anyone has to me to help them out please do it. Theres a lot more to the place then just petting the cats! There is cleaning, washing dishes, laundry and cat litter boxes. They have so much hard work to do and so little time. They are volunteering their own time.
A nice voluntary spay and neutering service for cats and dogs (not sure about other little animals) at a great price. So if you can volunteer to help keep this service around it would be helpful to the community. With prices around $55-75 (last I know for cats), service done by licensed vet, its better then $350-400+ at a vet shop.
Janice and her team of volunteers are the best. If you ever have any extra money you want to donate, this is the place to give it. Ive never seen a more worthy organization. Janice works around the clock and devotes her life to helping cats (&dogs).
The woman who called me after I submitted my application for a cat - Mary Pat Spiegel - was incredibly rude. We adopted two cats at Petsmart six years ago who are thriving and happy. The issue (according to this Cat-Czar) is that they are indoor/outdoor. She does not approve of cats going outside, preferring them to live all their days confined. I assume she thinks this makes them live longer. Untrue in my cat owning experience. She is short-sided, rude, and obnoxious. Adopt elsewhere - or check the box for indoor only.
Kind people. Not very clean, very dark and dingy where the dogs are kept after surgery. They did however do my dogs long nails while he was under which was much appreciated. They are in need of many things for the care and comfort of your pets, please donate whatever you can as they are in need of so much. The spay/neuter program is a very important one so please spay/neuter your pet asap. There are so many unwanted cats and dogs already it is heartbreaking. *If you have an apointment PLEASE DO NOT let your pet EAT OR DRINK ANYTHING in the time period they tell you, your pets health and life depend on it!!! There have been serious concequences for 2 families I know whos dogs have serious lifelong health problems because of allowing eating and drinking before surgery which has cost them thousands in vet bills to save their pets!!
Would give them 0 stars if I could. Was at PetSmart in Dewitt today..looking to adopt.was told because I was looking at kittens they would prefer that there was another cat in the house or adopt 2... I said that was an option as there were 2 or 3 I was looking at ... After about 5 minutes in the area was asked if I could come back in about 10 or 15 min as the wanted to give someone else who was going to ADOPT a chance to look. I could look around the store and shop and come back but have no cat at this time as my 19 yr old just passed 3 wks ago. Walked out feeling more hurt than I was when I lost my boy.
Fast efficient! Ill be going back again
They did a great job with my cats, was personable and seemed to really care
My cats caught a slight cold after getting the fixed here. But its hard to complain when you are paying so little to get them fixed. This is a very good organization tho and I do have lots of respect for them. They are doing great work.
They do great work in conjunction with Cornell Universitys Vet School students and staff. Dogs and cats of all ages, whether domesticated or feral are spayed and neutered. Minor wound treatment is also provided. The cats and dogs are contained in pet carriers and are transported to and from community supported drop off/pick up locations in a multi county wide range to CNYSN. Volunteer drivers use their own personal vehicles. Its a nonprofit organization and donations are welcome to sustain the cramped facility. Adopt an animal and rescue yourself.
They did an amazing job with my cat I like how they observation after the operation and clean the ears and clip the nails it definitely will be bringing more animals to them they appreciate the tip I gave them
They have helped me in so many ways in a short time. In response to an earlier comment about the conditions of the place, theyve just moved to this place and have a lot of work to do and are doing more to help animals and people who help animals, then I have ever seen. God Bless them. They are the real deal.
Before Co-vid you could find me here. This place is a blessing, Cortland could use about a hundred more of these services ... theyre turning away help even if completely vaxed, it sucks for the cats.. and the helpers whom would.. Im sorry.. yeah great place and all that jazz.
Thank God for CNYSNAP! There are so many abandoned stray & feral cats in our area (in the country and world in general!). These cats reproduce to the point where the females die from giving birth over & over. These cats and kittens suffer from the most awful diseases and deaths. There is no reason for any animal to have to go through what these unwanted & unloved cats are going through. All it takes is spaying and neutering them to rectify this heinous situation (to some degree at least, the abandoned ones will still suffer, but at least they wont be bringing more kittens into the mess.).these kittens have slim chances of survival. Between the illnesses, parasites, weather conditions, lack of nourishment, cars, male cats and other animals that will eat them, sick mothers who cant nurse them properly etc etc (the list goes on and on) these kittens are born destined to suffer from day one. This is completely preventable. This program is a godsend to both people and the cats.Thank you CNYSNAP for saving animals from suffering unnecessarily!
Went to have my ex fix my female cat and get both her fixed her and her brother chipped but refused to chip my male cat bc he wasnt getting neutered by them wish they said that before my ex did set up stuff I still have a cat unchipped but at least hes healthy and still able to produce pedigree kittens so all well the loss is theirs
This place is great and your pets are always treated, with love. Thank you so much for the help on getting my pets spayed and neutered.
They are the greatest they really care for your pets I would send all my friends over to them to have their pets spayed or neutered
Unprofessional staff that makes rude and inappropriate remarks.
Wonderful people, they spay and neuter cats and dogs and care for them at reasonable price, we are happy to help them with donations it helps them in great way to keep things moving, keep up good work
Very polite courteous and helpful . I think they could use some more help . Its unfortunate that these facilities are under financed . This should be looked into more by all the legislatures . We throw money away every day on problems around the world and cant handle things here . God bless these people .
Very affordable, friendly staff, and took great care of my pupper! He also got chipped and got the rest of his shots here, which was super convenient.
Great community service they provide, they took great care of your little kitten during the neuter procedure. They even offered microchipping!
They took excellent care of my two dogs. Highly recommend
I have brought kittys I rescued there for spaying and neutering. I appreciate the help in trying to keep costs down. Great Staff many thanks
Left two messages to see if they could perform a spay on my dog. Never even received a call back. Very unprofessional.
This place isnt it
I volunteer here, and my dog was neutered here, and its such a great program that really helps so many people in CNY.
Im not happy with CNY SNAP at this time. I call to make an appointment and dont get any return phone calls.
These guys are amazing! Its sad that they have to move. I wish I had more time on my hands too volunteer and help them keep it.
Nasty, racist low-lifes represent this organization, and if they treat animals like they treat people they should be shut down. (Based on observations, they dont treat cats very well at all.)
Went to check on a application and still have not heard anything back its been a long long time and they dont seem like they want to adopt any cats out
I know thereβs a waiting list for the spay/neuter clinic because there are simply so many people trying to get appointments (good for them!!!). The clinic prices are amazing. They are also a shelter for cats. They do everything possible to try caring for all the stray and abandoned cats that are brought in. Itβs run solely by volunteers. Nobody is paid to care for the animals. So many adorable cats waiting for homes.
Awesome staff, super friendly and helpful. Lots of loved and loving animals :)
Amazing service Amazing people who donate time and especially love for all fur babies
I cant say enough this organization. Could not do what I do without them. The workers/volunteers are wonderful, friendly, and informative β€οΈ
A great! Especially for those who cant afford to pay exsorbant prices of a reg. Vet. Some people love and care about their pets too, but the world is just making it impossible to give them proper care. This place is a God send.
Calling daily with no answer and it says their is no room in the mailbox to leave a message. Such a shame, it is a great program if you can get ahold of someone.
Good people, third trip bringing pets in the last three years very reasonable price for spay and neuter
Fixed my cat and she died 2 days later. They fixed my dog and she has hard lumps. Donβt trust these people.
Got my pup spayed for a very good price in a timely manner for our move. Thanks guys!
Got my cat fixed here great people
Very nice staff! Theyre super busy and work hard
Amazing place they truly care about animals
Very helpful and such a great service for the area! β€οΈ Ty for all you guys do!
Took very good care of my daughters cat. Waiting to take my dog in for a visit.
Wonderful people who are all volunteers and truly care for the animals.
Theyre awesome. Always helpful and understanding.
Doesnβt adopt to students regardless of living situation. Ladies running the adoption event at pet smart were extremely rude to us because of the fact that we were students. Stuck up staff
I wish i could rate 0 stars. If youre looking to adopt a cat, dont waste your time here. The woman who runs the snap adoption agency was very rude and dismissive when I tried to call her to sort a small clerical error my girlfriend made when filling out adoption paperwork she refused to have a civil conversation about it and after about 30 seconds just hung up on me and when I went to speak with her in person she was somehow even more dismissive and condescending the entire time, and in the end refused to adopt a cat out to me despite my paperwork being perfectly in order and refused to even give me a reason why, telling me I was starting problems by politely asking what it was that I had done wrong. Stating Im just not adopting a cat out to you and thats it, there are other adoption agencies around that you can go to so I advise any who seek to adopt to follow her advice and just go somewhere else.
Never answer voice mails left 5 over 3 week time never once returned one
Wonderful volunteer staff, newer facility is a big improvement for this exception group that does great things in the community every week. Weve had several rescue dogs spay/neutered there, including difficult ones without problem. Love them!
I was promised a cat from a friend and they ended up homing all the day I was suppose to pick up. The lady said to try petsmart in DeWitt I was willing to adopt i called and asked to speak with a volunteer where the cats are. The lady I spoke with was so rude . I explained I lived i. Oswego county and explained I work in liverpool my daughter was devistated over not getting the kitten. Three months prior we had to say good bye to out 18 year old cat. This lady first asked if there was nowhere closer to adopt i told her that location was recommended by someone. She than to me they only adopt locally and when I said you are discriminating against me because qhere I live you do not know me or my vet references sbe did not care. I will never go through this group. There are many cats looking for homes. I get this but I will not deal with a volunteer group that does not have the animals wellbeing first.
Great place my pets are always in good condition and clean when I pick them up and there very friendly constantly busy and could use more volunteers to help things go farther and if they had enough volunteers possibly open another clinic as we all know pets should be fixed for there health and to guarantee the lives of there unborn from suffering.
We adopted both Nigella and Oscar from here.
Love visiting here when I get the chance I love seeing all the animals and giving them attention. Currently in the process of adopting an elder cat. Hes such a sweetie.
A cat spay and neuter clinic and rescue
Repeated calls with no callback. One time we got through just took my urgent message & never called back. Several weeks calling almost every day. Now their mailbox is full and cats are now old enough for the girl to be pregnant. I thought this was what the program was to prevent? At least could tell me if they werent going to do it.PS Great experiences in the past. Dont know whats up.
For months, We had a stray cat that would come to eat then disappear. Very afraid of contact. A few months ago, I noticed it was pregnant. I called SNAP, they loaned me a cage and after successfully catching her, I brought her to them for help. I have since adopted this cat. Great people, great help for feral and strays. Thank you!
Neutered our adult bully for a VERY fair price!!!
Great staff the love for the animals is amazing!
My dog came back happy and ready to go! Thanks for taking care of him!
Ive been playing phone tag with them for 2 months!
Dont even get me started! Just trash absolutely trash!
These people are dedicated, living and very supportive. They do not judge you as some shelters have been known to do.
Affordable basic spay/nueter pet service.
I have had multiple dogs here. Janice is an absolutely amazing woman!!!
Great people supporting those in need. Thank you!
Very helpful program. There is a waiting list.
Took wonderful care of my boy kitten.
Great with my dog! Highly recommendπ
They havent returned my call
They didnt properly stick up one of my friends kittens properly, and also failed to stitch up my buddys dog which underwent emergency overnight surgery and 4000$ later saved his dog just from trying to get her fixed if i was any of you I would not use this place to care for your pets
Did a great job spadingmy cat
Great prices!
I never can get a hold of them.
I need of people to adopt cats ASAP
Very kind staff
Very good
Very helpful but inconsistent information.
Cheap and no more kittens hoooray
That are very helpful to the county
Disrespectful
Awesome π
Super friendly
A Different Kind of Fun
They save lives!
Great job ππ
