So I have been going to them for years. I would say it’s more like 4.75 out of 5 rating. It was 5/5 for years but recently has changed and dropped.Cons:Both dogs have the monthly care plan with them. In the 4+ years we have had it they have called ONE time about renewal. To the point where I actually had to ask where why she was calling and the woman insisted they always call I had to explain that it’s never happened and she said they do each year and as I am explaining I haven’t… it’s just not a good look when someone is saying hey we have been paying for years this is a first time.’so that should tell you to flag to make sure we get a call the following year and there on rather than argue. So I was displeased there. So I got one random call and it wasn’t even for the dog that had a price change on the plan. And that was a $30/month increase which to me would warrant a phone call. but we did not receive one. So to the young girl making the phone calls maybe listen to the person and not argue with them.And then on to the random increase and calling about it:The older woman behind the counter/answering phones… will lie to get you off the phone. She has been spoken to about it previously (as per management) but it isn’t just once we had to speak to the staff about her and what she tells us which is lies until the management come in and explain that everything we were told was incorrect and she knows better. So that creates far more aggravation and problems. Once or twice on a whole is one thing but the aren’t the only ones by all account. Why she is allowed to speak to the public or still there after multiple occasions is beyond me. It is exceptionally important for patients to trust the stuff. I actually don’t trust her to make my appointment and for it to be valid since she has just made up crap just to avoid telling patience the truth or dealing with the problem. Don’t work in customer service then if you can’t handle it.I am not sure which younger woman I spoke to last time to get an appointment but I had to repeat myself a dozen times because the young girl on the phone wasn’t listening and she wanted to get me off the phone and use their emergency service wall in. I had to firmly tell her 3 different times I would like an appointment. So finally I got one. It shouldn’t have taken that much work. Especially when we’ve been a patient for several years now.The closer this creeps to 4 stars the more concerned I get. Any lower and I will pull the dogs and travel to New Jersey or Connecticut if I need to. Is the top of the line specialist in montauk? Orients I will drive where I need to go. So I do get concerned as the quality of the front staff and their expectations of said staff has dropped in the last few years.Plus:They are super familiar with bully breeds so I prefer specialists bc it’s a high maintenance breed. We have enjoyed all the doctors. My English bully is very sensitive and emotional and doesn’t like just anyone so she enjoys going here and isn’t upset by the prospect which is a huge plus. My other dog is dumb and enjoys everything so his opinion is less weighedThe app is very helpful and I have used the vet chat in it previously it’s good but I prefer to go in person. And with unlimited wellness for a monthly fee they do see my dogs regularly.My dogs have better health care than I do ha! And they are great doctors. I don’t find them condescending or belittling which can happen. They don’t try to preach and force nonsense down your throat. My animals are well taken care of some of them are chubby but if they are in excellent health then they don’t give you crap which is plus. I won’t pay or visit a doctor who does that. It’s shameful. So I am really glad they don’t.Overall:i am concerned some of the less than ideal behaviors of the front and is reflective of what happens behind closed doors and ABSOLUTELY reflects the care my animal will receive. So some concerns to be had.

Professional and caring, always available whether it be routine check up or emergency service. The staff has always been great.Dr. Hagenson and Dr. Lee in particular have cared for my dog for 10 years and I have never had a complaint.

I haven’t been able to write a review but now that some time has passed I feel like this VCA location deserves to know how grateful I am for their kindness and compassion when I showed up with my 15 yr old chihuahua experiencing a stroke. All I can say is the staff were beyond empathetic and honest, did not try to torture my dog with unnecessary testing, and gently advised me of the unfortunate options which meant having to choose between giving my dog a painless journey over the rainbow bridge - or have my dog experience a poor quality of life while trying to remedy her deterioration. It was of course the worst decision any owner could make, but they allowed me to ask as many questions as I wanted. They allowed me to make phone calls and seek second opinions in real time all while keeping my little baby comfortable. I’ll never forget how they treated us, and although it was one of the worst days of my life, I will forever appreciate all of the staff who helped get me through that day.

I rarely give negative reviews and I must say dr Tanaka is wonderful and full of knowledgeBut the office staff give us a medication and clearly told us NO need to refrigerateThe next day we had to return to exchange it because the information was incorrect and they demanded we pay again even though it was an error in their part , furthermore , while dr Tanaka told us the partial dose would cost $30 Christine charged us $47 and refused to exchange the medication free of charge. These are the kind of ethics that are bad for business but I guess they are not worried because they over charge enough to do well for themselves.

Ive had overall positive experiences here with the vets, the techs, and most of the general employees. Ive brought 3 guinea pigs and my cat here for a year and have received nothing but great care, checking up, and advice. Unfortunately all three pigs passed away due to rapid URIs at home, but their processes for cremations and sensitivity to the families in their time of grieving is wonderfully empathetic. They went out of their way to express my care and attention and even sent a hand-written sympathy card from my primary vet, signed by all the staff. I recently moved so cannot bring my cat there anymore, but I recommend them if you are in the area and looking for a caring vet!

Its a vet practice owned by private equity. So its got all the bells and whistles for diagnosis and treatment. I interacted w 5 members of the staff and only one seemed like they shouldnt be working with pets. Overall it was a decent experience but I wouldnt leave a vet you love to come here, its a business.

I really cant say enough good things about this VCA location. The front staff is aces, friendly, kind, caring, organized. They are all smiles and get along so well. The vets are truly the kindest people Ive met. The young people who do the boarding and care really love animals. My dog was super happy when I picked him up. The location isnt convenient to my home and I still made the drive. I recently had to put my dog down and the kindness they showed was above and beyond. They made me feel like life was okay and they were truly concerned with my grief. You could see the empathy in all of their words and on their faces. They allowed me all the time I needed and showed great kindness on a truly unbearable day. The whole staff signed a condolence card personally, I got it in the mail. Its really a reflection of the atmosphere of their whole location. Thank you for your genuine kindness.

We had to put our dog down and I chose this place because of convenience, I’m glad I did. The staff and vet were so loving and compassionate. This was the hardest thing we’ve had to do in a while and Matilda was with us for 16 years, this wasn’t easy. I can’t praise them all enough , this is the kind of guidance you need when facing a situation like this. Thank you so much guys❤️

My cat Hope was having gastrointestinal issues, and I was so concerned because she was not eating as much as she usually does. I called Nassau-Suffolk Animal, and the receptionist was such a kind, sweet person that spoke to me and listened to my issue with Hope. From when I got on the phone with them to when I walked in the door, this place and its staff are top-notch, showing how much they care for your fur babies. They have got a customer for life. Not only am I changing Hopes primary Dr. to Nassau-Suffolk, but they also just inherited two more of my fur babies. They made me feel so comfortable and showed a lot of TLC to my kitty Hope. Thank you so much!!

The amount of compassion and empathy the vets and all the staff showed our dog at the very end of her life was nothing short of amazing. They gave her the best care whenever we brought her in. When the time came they made a difficult process as comfortable as possible. We can’t thank them enough for showing our Ruby the love and care she deserved until the last minute.

Just brought my older cat here for a paw injury, staff was quick, polite, professional, and explained every part of the process for me as well as treated our (admittedly very feisty) elderly cat with the same care, compassion, and heart that any of us at home would. Came in worried sick about our cat, left feeling at ease. Wanted to specifically thank Dr. Tanaka who took care of and treated our cat.

No complaints about vets. They have no say over prices because this establishment is a chain.However, they Wanted $1,700 to remove ONE tooth from my cat. I Shopped around. Went to Merrick veterinary group on Sunrise highway and Dr. Villa did tooth extraction for $499. That’s three times less than VCA. They are a complete rip off. Always trying to take advantage and sell you stuff. Not caring about the average everyday hard working person. Greedy. Never going back.

Excellent care for both of my dogs here. Our visits never seem rushed. The veterinarians take time to explain all of the health issues and proposed treatments. The staff is consistently friendly, professional and caring. Also, the waiting room environment is clean and pleasant (although we are rarely kept waiting there for very long).

The had appt set I asked if could get moved up…no response all day Saturday..they they call1-12-24 after speaking the office, I feel they meet my needs for my dog Teddy. This place is amazing, Kelsey was so considerate and attentive. I was a wreck bringing my cat in and the whole staff was so sweet to me. They really care about your pet there and after my nightmare experience from the emergency vet last night, I’m so grateful. I would definitely recommend bringing your pet here

When it became necessary to make arrangements for our 17 YO dog, we were at a bit of a loss. Since our longtime vet is in Vermont (where we live part time) and our girl was not able to make the trip, we called NSAH. I cannot express the professionalism shown by each and every staff member along with the attending Veterinarian who made a very difficult situation bearable. Additionally, not two days passed and we received a beautiful sympathy card signed by the entire staff. We are so very grateful for the kindness shown by these exceptional people and will never forget their kindness.

Our three dogs have gone there for over 15 years mostly good but very expensive. Niko was overly medicated and it was just a basic antibiotic needed..??? Doesnt quite seem like the facility really cares about the animals more about the money. Our personal experiences

Both of my cats have been patients and staff is always wonderful.Very empathetic and helpful when my 17 year-old Calico passed. They did everything to help. Addendum: they no longer offer special days for reduced cost vaccinations....kind of pricey....

I unfortunately had to bring my cat in to be put to sleep, she was suffering with cancer. they were so accommodating and sympathetic. Gave me and my family all the time we needed to be with her before they put her to sleep and after it was done. I got to hold her so she didnt feel alone while she slipped away. it was the hardest thing ive ever had to do and the staff was just so understanding. I appreciate how much care they showed during the process.

In the past, the care that all my pets have received has be amazing, kind, and professional. But today that changed. My dog who is 13 is due for her annual exam, but also appears to be in extreme pain and can’t even sit or lie down properly any more. I want her to be accessed to see if, horribly, it may be better to euthanize her. They told me they can’t fit her in for in appointment until April 8th. So for over a week I have to watch my dog stagger and limp around the house. I was told I can call each day for a cancellation, but I wish for such an occasion they had time to see her sooner.

I have been bringing my cats and dogs to see Dr. Haagenson for over 12 years. He is amazing!! Everyone there is very friendly, and compassionate.. I have seen Dr. Lee on occasion and she is excellent as well. Pat, at the front desk, is always pleasant and helpful.

I have always had a wonderful experience here! They care about our frenchie, Louie, so much! They are great with appointments, offer reduced pricing on shots on certain days/times, and genuinely want what is best for you and your pet! All the vets and vet techs are wonderful! We see Dr. Haagenson usually because he is the best bulldog guy ever! I don’t live near the area, but I am definitely willing to travel for the care they provide.

Need to start of by stating have been with Dr. Haagenson for over 20 years-6 pets. He is PHENOMENAL. Sadly, it stops with him. If you are looking for a Vet Clinic where your pets needs are secondary to monetary gains, then this is the place for you. There has been a high turnover with front desk staff, Vet Techs with addition of some newer vets. Desk staff has made numerous billing errors and often are robot-like with little to no compassion during phone conversations.Appointment availability is AS IS. NO CONSIDERATIONS for ill pets- been told on 3 different occasions- no appointments available go to ER. Vet tech;-Christian is wonderful, Ali is Super...others leave much to be desired.. observed techs providing vet with incorrect vaccine.Baffles me when 2 giant breeds have an appointment (total weight over 300 pounds and they squeeze us into the smallest room- where dog does not even fit on table b/c one of the other vet prefers the bigger room quote from the tech.Sadly, on TWO emergency situations, staff and covering Vets ARE NOT ACCOMMODATING. Asked for a return call from one of the other Vets and was never contacted by VET. Only communication is via front desk staff. THIS NEVER HAPPENS WITH DR. HAAGENSON- WHO ALWAYS RETURNS COMPASSIONATE CALLS.I spoke with an assistant manager; Christine 5 days later who was pompous, pretentious, condescending, defensive and confrontational about the medical decisions I made WITHOUT the support or GUIDANCE from my primary vet practice during a critical time sensitive treatment plan.She was scornful as she talked down to me and stated we tried numerous times to reach you. Correct- according to my call records-6 hours after initial call and 2 hours after ER discharge- during which time I was able to find a compassionate vet who opened his surgical office for an unscheduled surgery for a NEW PATIENT. Christine was matter of fact and patronizing as she stated clearly you will not be returning to this practice, where should I send the medical records to? She was not sympathetic, apologetic or concerned at all that 3 current pets with a loyal history will be leaving the practice.If you want your pet to be merely an appointment visit that has a price-tag associated with it-this is the right practice for you. VCA is owned by MARS VET HEALTH- through this horrific experience ( second time it happened) I found a PRIVATELY OWNED VET HOSPITAL - whose staff is competent, compassionate, caring and recognizes that our four legged ones are family members- truly available at ALL HOURS especially during the emergency situations. The VET TECHS are well beyond competent- they are VESTED in my pets care- and the VET- Well he left his family, opened his surgical practice to uphold his Veterinary OATH to care for our animals...that sums it all up. Expense is not a problem for me-My pets are treated as my family and deserve the BEST. VCA is no longer able to provide me with that service.

We lived next door to this facility ten years ago and we left our dog there while we went on a short weekend trip. The healthy dog died in their care and nobody could tell us what happened.On another occasion a worker was taking a dog outside and the dog got loose from her hold. We tried to help her get the dog but he ran off and was never found.Though these instances happened a long time ago I still feel the need to report them to the public as a reminder to be cautious where you leave your beloved pets.

Not even worth one star. Always an issue when going there or calling there. Theyre WAY overpriced, they do more services than I want or need them to when I bring my dog and then they have the nerve to charge me for it. They wont even set up payment plans considering I went there for 5 years. I moved out of state and called them today to get my dogs records. Easy breezy right? NO. I was placed on hold 5 times. I was then told I would have to jump thru hoops in order to get MY dogs records. I explained 6 times that I do not have a fax machine so we need to come up with another option. She kept repeating herself and telling me that I need a fax machine in order to get my dogs records as if a fax machine would magically appear in my lap. She then HUNG up on me. What place of business hangs up on their customer? Poor customer service, prices too high and not willing to work with you at all. All they want is your money money money. Would NEVER recommend and I will also be telling my friends that still go there about this experience. Yous should be ashamed.

Both dogs bippy and mala ate rat poisioning. They took action as soon as i walked in. It was late at night and the staff were so friendly and supportive in such crisis. The doctor handled ever step well and they truly care about our sick babies thank you for saving their lives

Absolutely horrible customer service. Wait time in waiting room is always 30min or greater. They try to up sell everything. Took dog in to get booster shot. When making appointment was very clear i was only looking to bring her in for the booster she had just been there the month prior. Discussed price and made appointment for next day. Get to the office and sat in the empty waiting area for 30 min while the staff was in no rush to do anything. Vettech came out and said since my dog was only there for the booster that she could bring her back quick and we can be in and out, so i let her take my dog in the back alone while i waited in the waiting area. My dog was in the back for about 4 min and returned with no issues. When we went to check out the $60 bosster shot we discussed the day prior on the phone was now well over $100. When i asked why the price increase they stated because she needed to have a physical exam prior to getting the booster. 100% unnecessary and unacceptable. She had a physical the month prior. They made no mention of her needing a physical or that they were gonna charge me for one. And the fact that they mislead me into thinking that it was a quick shot and out so i would wait in the waiting room than charge for a physical that apparently took less than 5 min with the shot is sketchy. Avoid. Im used too them trying to upsell thats just the world we live in today, but they’ve been getting sketcher and sketcher with each vist.

They did well in this covid 19 situation. Naturally would have like to go in with my pet. But my pet seems to be doing better today and I think all will turn out well. They did give a follow up call which was nice. I would def return to this place when needed.

PLEASE READ:I highly recommend to NOT bring your pet here. This place has gone down hill over the years. It seems each year the place gets worse and worse, and unfortunately in my case I learned this too late, and now my dog is dying or sadly by the time some have read this already dead.Do to negligence, carelessness and especially one vet who I felt should have been able to diagnose my dog correctly, much sooner, and could have given my dog a much greater chance of surviving, did not give advice or make suggestions on how to keep my dog as comfortable and healthy as possible, after his too late diagnosis. He instead said practically nothing and walked away.Side Note: This veterinarian had abruptly quit. That is suspicious and unprofessional both by him for not notifying the pet owners that rely on him and the place for not doing the same.I sincerely apologize for the rare/good remaining vets that hopefully still exist at the Nassau/Suffolk Hospital and give a proper examination and diagnosis. I know this review is unfair to you. However, the bad outweighs the good and I will repeatedly suggest to anyone who loves their pet to go elsewhere.

I cant say enough good things about Dr. Haagenson and his staff. This is during covid. They were safety oriented yet still warm and welcoming. They were extremely attentive to our dog and gave us peace of mind. If you have an English bulldog, then there is no other option for you. We travel the 45 minutes past countless vets just to know we have the best possible care our bulldog can get. Thank you Dr. Haagenson and staff!

Absolutely wonderful experience. Dr Tanaka was absolutely gentle as was the tech(Im sorry I didnt get her name) and they both took wonderful care of my cat. The next day I had the lab results and Dr Tanaka herself took the time to explain the labs and was very patient with whatever questions I had. They also took great care of my beloved cat who passed away last year from cancer. They gave us a plaster mold of his pawprints presented in a fold out display next to a beautiful poem. I would recommend them to anyone who has an animal that is sick as they are so compassionate from the front desk staff, the techs and the Drs themselves!

Today was my first visit with my new puppy, Biggie (Smalls) 😁. I was so nervous because he’s so tiny and still a scared little pup so I was expecting the worst. However, once Dr. Rosen came into the room, just by the way he was talking I knew this visit was going to be much better than I expected. As Dr. Rosen was administering the the necessary shots, he was explaining everything to me and it made me feel so much more comfortable. Before I wrote this review I read all the other great reviews, and then when I came to the negative ones, where they complain about cost, those comments were funny to me but also confusing. Animals cost money. Between the food and visits to vet, it does add up. However, this is a business just like anyplace else. You’re expecting free vet care? Seriously? My experience was totally the opposite. Not only was the first visit very reasonable, but during the exam and giving Biggie Smalls his shots, Dr. Rosen and his assistant also explained how I can SAVE money by describing pet medical insurance and telling me how that’s important to have, but also they described a program they offer where you do monthly payments and all the vet visits are included, and I’ll definitely look into that because it looks like you can save a lot. Im the end, I couldn’t be happier and my new baby boy Biggie is now protected with shots and is happy as well. I was terrified he would be hurt with the shots but the way Dr. Rosen administered them, Biggie didn’t even flinch never mind cry or whimper. So satisfied with this vet and the first visit that I won’t even entertain going anywhere else. Thank you Dr. Rosen and the ladies in the office for all you did to make my first experience such a great and memorable one. You guys are AWESOME! Thank you and see you soon!

Cant express enough how wonderful this place is. We recently had to put my cat CJ down and they were so kind, caring and really knew how to make the process as easy as possible. During our very difficult time it really meant so much to us and we appreciate it more than we can put into words. We have been taking our 2 dogs to Nassau Suffolk hospital for several years spending a lot of money on their care. Recently my older dog was nipped by my younger dog and received a 1/4 inch slice to his ear. We called the office to let them know we would like to bring him in and was told that we should take him to the emergency room so they can put him under and treat his wound. We asked them if they could look at it to see if they could treat it before spending money on a emergency room visit and they refused . We ended up repairing with glue and liquid bandage. They could have just looked at him. We do not want to go back now and are searching for a new vet.

I had the terrible moment when you have to put your loved one down. I adopted my beagle Darwin in 2007 and he was one of the best decisions Ive ever made. When I hit rock bottom a few years ago i had him by my side which as any pet owner knows, they save our lives and make us so much stronger with their fierce love. I was falling apart walking in and from the moment Jennifer at the front desk saw us and got up and came to my family and led us to a private room right away. Dr Tanaka entered the room and got down on the floor and just started petting Darwin like he was hers. The staff was beyond incredible ans gave my family all the time we needed to say our goodbyes and I love yous. My heart is broken because a piece of my heart went to heaven but Im not in pieces thanks to the staff at Nassau Suffolk animal hospital in farmingdale. Thank you so much. Words cant express how grateful I am.

We needed medicine that my vet for some reason couldnt get, even though we use it every month, so this vet came through. They were extremely helpful and even offered to cut the pills in half which had never been offered before. Great place, I just wish they werent so far from me, looks like they are willing to go the extra mile.

The staff here is very nice. I am very hesitant about veterinary places, bec its hard to gauge if ur bring completely ripped off. Ill say that the doctors are caring and thorough and organized, and that Im happy w the attention my cats received. Parking lot, convenient location. Currently under construction, so lots of noise--be aware in case ur pets are sensitive

BEWARE MONEY HUNGRY Veterinarians office. Absolutely disgusted. My cat is on a specific FOOD diet that I was told by this office that he would be on for the rest of his life. I usually order this food thru chewy but because of the extremely difficult times we are going thru their shipping times are a little longer than usual.I called Nassau Suffolk animal hospital this morning asking to pick up a bag of the cat food only to be told flat out NO because they have not seen my cat in a year and would not issue him the bag because of this. I was not asking to pick up antibiotics or pain medication. I needed to pick up the cat food that they prescribed to my cat more than 4 years ago. They know that with out this food my cat can get very backed up. I would understand if it was a medication but it is cat food. During this scary, sad, financially draining times you hope to deal with people who have compassion and understanding. If that is what you are looking for in a vet you will definitely not be getting it from the office.I will be sure to never take my cat back to such an unkind person like Dr. Rosen or his staff.P.S. I ordered it from Chewy with out a problem

Well I heard of a sad terrible story today. A friend posted on facebook her horrific interaction with you today when she brought in a dog she found, to have her checked for a chip and you decided to keep the dog and not give her back to her. You would rather have the poor dog sleep in a cage and go to a shelter tomorrow than have her spend the night in a nice warm bed in a good persons home until her owners are found. Shame on you! Glad her post reached many many many people. Im disgusted by your decision!

I brought my kitten Miso here a few times because she was having gastrointestinal issues and I was worried. Everyone that we encountered was wonderful and helpful, and she’s doing much better now. I appreciated that all possibilities and options were explained to me at each visit, as it helped me make informed decisions about her care. I am grateful for the help I received today at the Nassau-Suffolk Animal Hospital.I was walking my Mom and was approached by a young man, around 15yrs old who was concerned about a sick squirrel he had seen at the corner of Lockwood and Powell earlier. He showed us the squirrel and was visually upset about the animals condition. The animal was alive but seemed unable to move its back legs. Mom and I went back to her house and got a box and a towel. We scooped up the squirrel and brought it to the nearest animal hospital, which was Nassau- Suffolk Animal Hospital. They recommended contacting a wildlife service but when she called the Phone was busy. The young girl who worked the desk at the vet office, spoke to the Vet on duty and they were kind enough to take it in and care for it until Wildlife could be reached. They did a kind and honorable thing, as did the young man who flagged me down. Thank you for your much needed help!

These people are con artists. They fabricate stories, and take advantage of people who love their pets. They look to overcharge you for tons of fees, tell you that your pet needs to run tons of tests, tell you the tests were inconclusive, then ask you to pay more money to run more tests. Dont trust these people, plenty of better options elsewhere.

I had to take my dog here on an emergency visit because my regular vet was booked. The staff was very calming and made me and my dog at ease in an otherwise stressful situation. My dog feels better and the vet was wonderful.

The management at Nassau Suffolk Veterinary in Farmingdale is uncaring. Its all about the $. (One of their vets even corroborated this fact and said its not what it used to be here). My family had been a client with them since adopting our fur baby 6 years ago. Today that relationship has ended. To get into details is counterproductive...I will just say , through this review of their office management CAVEAT EMPTOR -- if I could have given zero stars I would have chosen that option... Happily we have begun a relationship with a new Vet and their management is delightful.

This was my first time here. The entire place is spotless! I was impressed right away with how clean it is.Then the staff impressed me even further. The entire staff is amazing! My 10yo English Bulldog had to get surgery today. I brought her for 7 opinions before feeling most comfortable with this office. Dr. Lee performed her surgery, they were kind and informative the whole time. I called once to check on her, prior to me leaving when I dropped her off I asked for a recommendation on a coffee shop to go to, when I called I got no attitude just an honest answer and she followed with how was yours coffee. It’s those little things, they actually care. I’ve called many vets where they put you on hold and sound annoyed, but not them (I spoke to ally). Kali had such great treatment, all the drs were great. Most importantly my baby is going to be ok. Thank you Nassau Suffolk 🐾🙏🏼💜

Dr Salerno Lee and her staff are knowledgable, caring, and empathtic. Last weekend my dog was having urination issues and even though it took several days to resolve i felt like we were her only patient. She yook the time to explain what was going on, how she was treating the issue, anf gow we can prevent this from happening again. I would definitely recomend Dr Lee and i cant wait to see the newly renovated building.
