The K-9 Center

We love the K-9 Center! My husband and I dropped our 3 year old Australian Cattle Dog mix there for their Board & Train program and we couldn’t be happier with the results. We were absolutely shocked that they got Toby to listen and respect boundaries and rules, and they got him to walk safely on a leash which was huge. It’s made all of our lives better! What makes me even happier though is how happy Toby is to see them every time we bring him back, either for a class or for boarding, because I know that the staff and trainers at K-9 Center cared for Toby and loved him as much as I do.

I cannot recommend this place enough! My dog, Odin has struggled with reactivity. With the help of Riley & staff he has improved tremendously. He doesn’t pull on the leash, bark at people and he has amazing recall all because of the K9 center!! We started out in puppy, Riley was super knowledgeable and answered all of our concerns and questions. We then graduated to the life-time program and noticed a huge improvement with our Odin. We continue to go weekly, as do other dogs ! I have tried out tons of trainers/training centers before, but this one is the absolute best. Thank you k9 center for all your help and your dedication for my dog!! For anyone who needs training this is the place to go!!!

We brought our 4 month old female German Shepard here after being told about this place from a friend who did the board and training. Luna was VERY dog reactive to the point where we worried she would get out and get hurt or others would get hurt. After meeting with Amanda we started her on private puppy classes to boost her confidence and learn commands. Amanda understood from the first meeting what needed to be done. Every week we worked on commands and Amanda’s personal dogs came in and showed Luna how to be happy with other dogs. At 7 months old we wanted to send Luna to the 2 week board and training. After the longest 2 weeks of our lives Luna is the ideal dog. She is able to have other dog friends, has confidence to do anything we put in front of her and has amazing recall. I recommend this place to everyone. The people who work here care about the dogs and owners. Can’t wait for the weekly life time training with all our new dog friends!!

I’ve been thinking over the past few days about how to write my review for the K9 Center.I could try to describe the distress my wife and I experienced after adopting a puppy (who turned out to be an affectionate, but difficult mix of guard and herding dog) and how the K9 Center helped us through the initial puppy training.I could describe how brilliant and compassionate all the staff are and how they care deeply for every single animal that walks through their door.I could try to describe the level of professionalism, integrity, and expertise they displayed throughout the entire adult “board and train” program, how they sent full videos of our puppys progress with notes, and how they continue to provide in-person expert care, advice, and assistance.I could try to do those things, but frankly, seeing is believing. Our dog no longer displays any of the troublesome behaviors (cat chasing, destructive behavior, being unable to stop moving, even when in one place, and almost no impulse control).On command, he now responds to his name, sits, will keep a “place and stay” on his bed, will respond to off if he jumps or grabs something he shouldn’t, and has leash etiquette and impulse control. (Which our cat appreciates.)It’s a day after Thanksgiving. I’m thankful for many things and am extremely lucky in many ways, but one thing I’m especially thankful for is the K9 Center. They are beyond belief.

When I got my puppy at ten weeks old, I already had plans for her to become a therapy dog. She started puppy training with Riley and then, as soon as she turned six months old, we enrolled in the lifetime program. I can’t say enough about the caring staff. They are all kind, friendly, and most of all, highly professional. Maisie has not yet turned a year old and has already passed her Canine Good Citizenship test and has earned the title of certified therapy dog. We could not have achieved this without the expertise of Riley and the rest of the K-9 Center staff. We look forward to continuing our training. Who knows how far we can go? I did a lot of research and was nervous and scared with the possibility of boarding my dog. He was 18 months old with some bad habits and became aggressive with entering the crate. We were put at ease with John and Amanda at k9 that he would be ok. Of course I picked the two weeks with a snowstorm and the coldest of temperatures. He survived the two weeks and I now have a transformed dog and life with him is amazing. He walks on the leash and heals no longer lunging at bicycles or other dogs. He now stays on long stays for an hour at a time while we are eating dinner or prepping meals. No longer begging or jumping on table at meals. Our biggest challenge was the crate and he now goes in easily with commands and sometimes on his own. The best thing about k9 is that there is a lifetime guarantee. We continue to go to classes to sharpen up on leash control and behavior around other dogs and distractions. Lindsey and Amanda have been so kind and great with this emotional mom missing her dog for the two weeks he was boarded. This was the best decision I’ve ever made and I wish I did it sooner. I highly recommend K9 for any type of dog training needed.

I’d like to start off by thanking the k9 Center for training our 15 month old German Shepherd. He was being very stubborn and talking back to his parents lol. He’s a very verbal dog. Riley and Michelle did a great job with him. My wife and I like the way they approach training dogs. Our dog is so well behaved now it’s like night and day. Thank you Riley and Michelle for everything you did for Buddy we highly recommend the K-9 Center. Their love for dogs shines through their training!

My sisters and I purchased a Mini Sheepadoodle puppy right before Christmas! We contacted the k9 center based off their great reviews. Pluto was enrolled in the 6 week puppy classes, where he learned and accomplished so much in just the 6 weeks! Can’t wait to see how well he will do in the adult classes!Super clean, everyone who works there is super nice (especially, plutos bff, Kevin) and best of ALL there was no judgement based off owning a doodle breed!!!

The K-9 center is absolutely amazing. We got our big baby max when I was towards the end of my pregnancy. Max is such a good boy but he really needed some training in certain areas. My boyfriend and I looked up many places and decided on this place. Riley, max trainer is absolutely amazing! I can’t say one bad thing. She showed max so much love and was so good him during training. She continues checking on him and making sure any question we have are answered. That’s when we decided to send him to boarding because we were so comfortable knowing he was in amazing hands. We were constantly sent videos , pictures and updated about his progress. Going to his follow up lessons he get super excited. I have and will continue to recommend the k-9 center to anyone who asks me! Riley is amazing thank you for everything

I can’t say enough good things about the K9 center! I have a very reactive dog and they have helped me and my dog enjoy a less stressful life out in public. John started teaching us the basics and Amanda had taught us beyond the basics and how to handle situations and prevent my dog from having a meltdown. The group classes are so important and each time we learn more and it also desensitizes my pup from his triggers. He’s learned so much as have I! I would recommend K9 center to everyone, whether your dog has issues or you have a new puppy to start learning right from the start. Thank you K9 center!!

As a first time dog owner, I was not sure what I was getting into. From the moment I called the K-9 Center to find out about a puppy to now starting obedience training with my pup, Amanda and the staff have but nothing short of amazing. Amanda takes the time to answer all your questions and everyone is extremely knowledgeable in dog training and behavior. I grow more confident in my dog and my own skills everyday thanks to Amanda and the K-9 Center. I recommend anyone who wants their dog to be a superstar check out the K-9 Center.

We just love K-9 Center. My 5 month old german shepherd, Kylo, has learned so much in just 5 sessions and will be continuing with the adult training in just another few months. Amanda is fantastic and really knows her training skills. Im thrilled that they also board because I will feel more at ease leaving him him people he is familiar with. I highly recommend them, you wont be disappointed!

After seeing the results my daughter had with her dog after doing the K9 Center’s lifetime program, I decided to bring my new puppy there for the puppy class with Amanda. It exceeded my expectations, I cannot believe how well behaved my 8 month old puppy is. We went straight into the lifetime training program after completing the puppy class. The results have been amazing. I cannot recommend this place highly enough.

What can I say about The K-9 Center that hasnt been said before. The staff here are in one word, amazing! Amanda, Ryley and Michelle are all at the top of their game. When I first started here with my German Shepherd Max he was a very rambunctious 7 month old. Amandas and Rileys knowledge and patinece were incredible. Max is progressing extremely fast and is well on his way to being an incredibly obedient and eager to please pup. I can not reccomend The K-9 Center enough. I have been telling all my friends to take their dogs there.

AMANDA is awesome!!! I went there desperate because my 11 month old Great Dane would drag me down the street and jump on me and I couldn’t do anything. I went in there and everyone was so nice , I had read reviews and was confident they could help me ! Here we are a month and a half later and I have a different dog . I could walk him holding his leash with my pinky. I love the way you start off with private classes and then graduate to have class with other dogs , it has helped me tremendously, Amanda is always there for answering my questions and encouraging us . It’s the best decision I made going to the K-9 center

After one bad encounter with another dog . Our GSD Luigi had seemed to become very dominant, showing aggression and seem to be fearful of anything. We tried everything to try to defuse the situation but with a baby on the way / our other older but now passed bulldog.We were dreading the thought of having to potentially give Lou up. We wanted what was best for Lou and for our family ,but wanted to do whatever we could to make it work. Through past history with the trainer Amanda . I came across the k9 center & made a call to give one last shot. Luigi was taken in as a board and train with the notion that he would need continued classes after . Amanda has helped our family to get better control of the situation and build confidence back in Luigi and ourselves as owners. Since working with Amanda She has been amazing & a role model needed in Lou’s life .Although we still got a long way too go I’m just mind boggled at how far he has come . It’s still a work in progress but couldn’t be more proud & a part of a great place . What i love about Amanda is she is understanding but firm. She takes pride in the center and every client / dog she works with . She strives on getting results. I love there rates as it’s worth it in the long run . I love how she works with each client & develops a plan specific that will work for that family . So if your skeptical about finding a great place to take your dog look no further because at k9 center they don’t just treat your dog like a dog they treat your dog like family .

The staff at the K-9 Center are all wonderful and very helpful in teaching us dog owners how to properly train our dogs. My husband and I board-and-trained our 3 year old dog, and we couldnt be happier with the results. Riley and her fellow trainers did a great job with him, and also taught us how to maintain the training at home. Highly recommend!

My dog Leo has been training with the K9 center for a year now and all I can say is WOW! I adopted Leo in August 2021, knowing that he was previously a bait dog for a fighting ring. I knew what I was getting myself into prior to adopting and I knew I had to get him the best training possible…and trust me I found it. Leo would pull, bust out the front door, and lacked manners and discipline. Amanda and John have worked with Leo and I and in the span of a year, with hard work and patience of Amanda and John, he is attending group classes, going to daycare and is able to go out into public and walk/play on and off leash. I cannot thank the K9 Center enough for helping us get to where we are today!! I knew they were good when we boarded my previous dog with them years ago but training Leo with them has really showed me how amazing they are!! I’m so glad I was referred to Amanda! My Australian Cattle Dog puppy is working through leash reactivity and only a month in and we are already doing group classes with little to no reactivity at all. Throughout our private classes Amanda has given us all the tools to take control of our baby to make our walks enjoyable and safe. I cannot say enough good things about Amanda, if you are looking for a great trainer to help teach you how to work with/correct behavioral issues I 100% recommend her!

I’ve been training my dog Dixie their since she was 5 months in the puppy program and then went into the lifetime program my dog now is awesome on leash and off leash. She has great obedience thanks to Amanda! I would 100% recommend them for training!

Finally, I was at my wits end with my 2.5 year old pug. We were a couple of couches in, totally not house-trained, reactive and aggressive towards bigger dogs, he was a complete nightmare. I’ve used other trainers that had come to my home and had been rejected by a few telling me he is not trainable. We stumbled on k9 center and had an evaluation done with Riley. We sent Duncan in for the board and train program. I cannot say enough about Riley, Michelle, Alex and all the staff at K9. My crazy little dog graduated the program and came back a well trained dog. He is no longer reactive to other dogs, he’s house trained and leash trained. We’ve continued his training for the life program and he’s always happy to be back. The staff here has absolutely changed our lives and turned my little nightmare into the best dog!

I know my girl Raven is in good hands at the K-9 Center. They are authentic dog people who understand dogs. The K-9 is my first choice for boarding and training. I recently boarded Raven, and when I picked her up she was happy and engaging.

Our girl Harley was boarding at K9 for about a year before we got her. She is so well-trained and poised. I definitely believe it is because of her training with Amanda and John at the K9 Center! Harley came home knowing all of her commands and executing them the first time. She has such a vibrant spirit and a loving personality. The staff at this facility are great and truly love what they do and all the dogs they board and train. It is a pleasure coming back for group lessons with them. Ive been taking my belgian malinois, Kona, to the K-9 Center since he was about 7-8 months old. John Brownes and Amandas personal training has help me tremendously with giving commands, leash training, and several other techniques to get my dogs attention and respect. Our next mission is group classes. I highly command anyone, with any breed to train their dog with these professionals. Aside from training, the K-9 Center has kennels to board dogs. There service is excellent not only to their customers, but most importantly the dogs. Their passion truly shows.

This place has shaped my dog into an obedient and relaxed companion. Before K9, my dog would walk ME on the her walks, pull constantly, and want to play with every other dog, person, etc. Now, my dog is a very calm walker. The K9 Center is the best investment I’ve ever made in my dog. The management and trainers are kind, generous, and really want the best for you and your dog. I HIGHLY recommend the K9 center.

I cant say enough about The K-9 Center. Amanda is THE BEST trainer ever! She cares about the dogs, but she also cares about the owners. Amanda has gone above and beyond to help me and both of my pups (Coco & Harley). She gave me the tools I needed to continue training them. If it werent because we moved out of state, I would still have Amanda and the team working with my pups. I highly recommend The K-9 Center for training and boarding your dog. These guys are absolutely wonderful!

I brought in my 6 month old labradoodle for basic and off-leash training. I signed up for their lifetime program which is normally 8-10 weeks of training and then you get to go back for refreshing or any additional training. My situation was a littler different though given that i only had three weeks until i was leaving NY and would be traveling for months. They were able to work with my schedule and complete the training in 2.5 weeks. My dog went from sometimes sitting when told too following all commands given. He will place on anything i ask him to and stay indefinitely. He learned sit, stay, place, down, how to properly heal and most importantly come. In two weeks we went from him having absolutely no recall to having flawless recall to the point that he hasnt worn a leash since. I think the greatest testament to their dedication is the fact that while i was traveling i realized i needed to teach him how to jump on command to get in the truck or in the truck bed. So i called and they FaceTime trained my dog and I because we were 400 miles away. After one session he now jumps up on command. I am thrilled with this company and the service they provide

Wow what an amazing experience we had. We have a South African Boerbel weighing at 111lb at 7m. We gave him in for the board and train program for 2 weeks and Riley did an AMAZING job! We got him back well trained and behaved :) when we came back for our follow up our dog was so excited to be back and see Riley and the other trainers. I highly highly recommend these guys for training!!! A huge THANK YOU Riley!!!!

Working with Amanda has been great! She gave me the tools and context I needed to not only improve my own confidence with handling my dog but also improved my dogs confidence and trust in me. I cant say enough great things!Before training at the K9 center, my dog would lunge and bark at cars and then bite my feet. I couldnt control her after these outbursts, and it got to a point where I dreaded every single walk. I tried taking my dog to classes at positive reinforcement only places with no change to behavior. After only a few weeks of training with Amanda, we started to see improvement and now, 3 months later, its like I have a whole new dog! I look forward to going on walks and taking my dog on trips now!

I was at my wits end with my 9 month lab when I contacted The K-9 Center. I told them that she was crazy and barked all night long. Within a couple weeks my family was sleeping through the nights and our crazy girl was listening and learning to be calmer. I cannot thank Amanda enough, she is wonderful with the dogs, so knowledgeable and caring. I would recommend all my friends and family to take their dogs to the K-9 Center, they truly Rock. I cant say enough positive things about the K-9 center and my experience. Taken as a recommendation from a friend, my Australian Shepherd started training here about a little over a month ago. She has transformed into a totally different dog since we started training with Amanda. After the initial evaluation, each private training session is tailored toward your dogs training needs. I have personally learned so many different training strategies and tools to improve my dogs obedience from Amanda. I can confidently say my dog has come such a long way in such a short amount of time and I am so proud. Through private training sessions, The K-9 Center will help train your dog to become an obedient version of themselves that everyone wants their dog to be.The staff is very supportive, quick to respond and so kind. I would also like to note that all of the staff goes out of their way to prioritize you and your animals safety (ie: when one dog is leaving a training session and another dog is coming in they are very mindful and make sure there is distance in between or separate doors are used, in a group class, etc.)When you come to the K-9 Center not only are you making an investment for your dogs safety, but a lifetime of freedom and happiness as well. Amanda and Riley are truly amazing trainers. I am forever grateful for being referred to this training facility. I have brought both my dogs to Amanda for training and she has done an amazing job with not only training the dogs but was I now realize is just as important is training me to be a better dog handler. Thanks to the K-9 center my dog now competes in Obedience and Rally trials with multiple first place wins. I highly recommend K-9 center to anyone who wants to train with their dog and learn how to better handle their dog.

I highly recommend Amanda and the K9 Center Team for both training and boarding. Not only did they train my dog to such an impressive level (when we thought he was untrainable), but they have been a consistent part of our life with the ongoing training and boarding when we are away. Prior to meeting Amanda and the team I was troubled with where to leave my dog when I traveled due to not knowing how he was truly being treated, but I couldnt be more confident that he is treated so well and is so happy being there. Such a great group of people that are not only kind but are wonderful at their jobs.

As a nervous new puppy parent, I started my GSD in the puppy program when she was only 14 weeks old. Amanda put our mind at ease and gave us the instruction we needed to help us raise a very well behaved pup. I would definitely recommend their lifetime program to anyone. Very happy to have found the K9 Center.

I can’t say enough good things about K9 Center. We brought our rescued Pitbull, Sadie, in for puppy classes and have seen tremendous results over the last 6 months. Riley has been her main teacher and has done a great job not only teaching her, but teaching us, which is probably more than half the Pitbull puppy battle. She does so well on & off-leash at our local parks. I plan on bringing Sadie indefinitely and all our other future pups.

Amanda and John have been excellent to work with. They helped me train my older dog to be tolerant, at a minimum, of a new puppy and address some lingering behavior issues with ease. I wish I had gone there sooner!! When I got my new puppy quarantine was still in effect, so when we could finally train her she was behind. Amanda worked with us strategically to catch her up and she is doing EXCELLENT! I really like working with them as they train not only my dogs, but me as well so we can have the most rewarding and safe relationship. They are also a wealth of knowledge on dogs and are always happy to give advice which I appreciate. They teach all the practical skills and commands but also some cute fun stuff to do with your dog too which We have fun doing at home. They really enjoy my little Trixie girl and I’m so thankful I found them. I look forward to moving up to the group classes when my puppy is ready!

We are extremely happy with the training that our 8week old chocolate lab is receiving. Amanda is extremely knowledgeable and works so well with the puppy, as well as teaches my daughter how to practice at home with the puppy. It has been very effective and we look forward to going each week to learn new commands. I would highly recommend this facility for training of all ages of dogs, especially puppies.

We brought our 8 week old Belgian here for his puppy training, and loved it so much we continued to the adult training program. We could not be happier working with Amanda and the team at the K-9 Center. They are incredibly knowledgeable and genuinely care about your pet.

I have brought my chocolate lab to the K9 center since she was a few months old for training, and it has been nothing but a wonderful experience. Amanda is an absolutely amazing trainer, and I have noticed such a difference in my dog’s behavior. They do not just train your pet at the center, they educate you as an owner how to train your pet, so you can enforce this every day at home. I highly recommend this place.

Amanda the trainer is absolutely amazing. She is so patient and knowledgeable and an excellent trainer. I have a 7 month old German Shepherd that was so out of control he wouldnt listen to anything I said. Thanks to Amanda I have control of my puppy. He actually listens when I speak to him now. I can actually walk down the street with him by my side instead of him dragging me. What an amazing difference I couldnt have done it without Amanda. I recommend Amanda and theK-9 Centerr to all my friends

I recommend k9 if you need training for your dog. Amanda is amazing and really works with your dog and the issues you want to be resolved. I have a energetic 10 month pit/ lab mix that lives with 3 yorkies and I thought it would never be possible for them to coexist because of how crazy he is around them. However, with the training and him over all respecting me more because I now know what to do he has calmed down so much and even takes naps with them. I can’t wait to see where he will be a year from now if he has already made so much progress in the short 2 months he has been here.

Dropped our dog off to get trained and left her for about two and half weeks. We visited often so we could stay up to date with her training and train ourselves on how to handle her and we could not be happier. She is a much more obedient dog and we didnt think she could listen to commands as well as she can now. We regularly go back for group lessons keeping the training alive. Amanda and John are great trainers and I recommend them to any dog that wants to impress their owners!

My wife and I have been bringing our working line German Shepherd to the canine center since she was 10 weeks old. She is a very spunky and wild dog but since bringing her to Amanda she has become The perfect dog and is great and attentive around our two month old baby. We have done classes with John as well and he is extremely knowledgeable and has such a heart for the dogs both John and Amanda are truly great trainers. Would recommend them highly they accommodate every schedule .

I have been taking Bear, my 100lb Bernadoodle for a month and a half now, and the improvement in him is remarkable. He ignores other dogs when I ask him to stay close, he give me 20 minute stays, he doesnt jump up on people as much (even though hes still a pup), he comes when called, and he can even stay in the front yard without a leash while I unload my car etc. Amanda and her crew are amazing and helped my turn my stubborn big boy into a dog that no one in the family minds watching now. Shes even helping me with my 50lb Lab mutt with off leash commands and walking. I strongly recommend them. Especially for familys with little kids or baby planning. It helps tremendously when you have control over your dog even while your hands are busy with the kids. Amanda is worth ever penny.

I have been coming to the K9 center for the last 4 years. My German Shepherd was a nightmare the first year I had him, and all of that changed when I went to the K9 Center. From correcting bad behavior, to commands, and obedience training, they are outstanding. Amanda and John are not only accommodating , but they always go the extra mile to make sure that we as owners, are also trained to be the leader that our dog needs. I would encourage any dog owner of any breed to come to the K9 center.

My husband and I first started going to the k9 center 12 years ago when we got our boxer champ . We did the 2 week board and train with lifetime training . We could not believe the improvement in such little time . Last December we purchased our German Shepherd Mack from the k9 center . He is the best dog I have ever had . He too did the 2 week obedience board and train. We continue to bring him once a week . He LOVES going there . I can’t believe how much Amanda has taught not only Mack but us as well . Her passion for what she does and how she cares about these dogs cannot go unnoticed. She goes out of her way to accommodate us and our crazy schedules. Everyone who works there are so good to us and have become friends . WE Love going there . I highly recommend the k9 center !

We love the K9 Center! We began taking our GSD puppy here when she was 9 weeks. She is now 10 months and we still take advantage of attending group classes weekly. Amanda is so knowledgeable and we are so grateful for everything we have learned! Our puppy is well-behaved and well-mannered thanks to the k9 center!

K-9 center is nothing short of amazing! Without their help we could have never made our dogs safe or happy. With them, we got 2 incredible new additions to the family that we can take anywhere with perfect listening. Would absolutely recommend for anyone with a dog! A serious must!!

I have an 11 month old Vizsla named Henry, He is a very active dog. The K9 staff and trainer Amanda has always shown great professionalism in dog training techniques. Henry is now a lot more obedient, highly recommend the K-9 Center!

My family and I have used the K-9 center for over 30yrs.The staff always has the patience for the dog as well as the owner.The life time training at first may seem expensive but they have many classes per week you can go too as well as one on one training that last the life of the dog.Owner John Browne will never say where have you been (if life keeps you away from class) He only will say where did we leave off and lets get to work. The expert teaching given by Browne is also shown in his training staff .From dog nutrition food and supplies they have you covered.

We love the training we’re getting with Amanda at the K9 Center. She’s extremely knowledgeable and patient. My dog has special medical needs, and Amanda has been very flexible and patient when we’ve needed to reschedule. I can’t recommend them enough!

My husband, myself, and our dog Thor absolutely love the k9 center. I was ready to give back our pooch due to aggression and disobedience. But we went to the K9 center and through the grace of John and wonderful Amanda, he is able to go off leash in public! They really took their time training us on how to speak to our dog. The staff is so experienced on how to train your dog. Very honest and I learned a lot. I would highly recommend Coming down even to just watch one class.you will not be disappointed

So grateful for K9 center for giving us the tools to have a great relationship with our German Shepard.He is a strong minded dog who challenged us.They are true professionals who respect dogs. they really speak dog and taught us to communicate with him.Family friendly, my kids love to go watch and learn. Highly recommend to anyone. They also keep our boy looking great with his grooming!

They are life savers. My German Shepard Max was very aggressive with new people and we had gone through 5 different trainers before we found them. None of them could figure him out or even get close, but now after spending only a few sessions with them were able to finally have him meet new people and even let them pet him!!! 10/10 love the people there and would recommend for any type of dog.

When our Dogo Argentino turned one he started showing territorial and aggressive behavior. It became a bit of a nightmare. I was scared to take him places and introduce him to people. Amanda was lovely, she was very knowledgeable about the breed. Amanda understood our dog was a member of the family. I would highly recommend the K9 center. Today I can bring my dog everywhere again and I feel confident about introducing him to new people.

Where do i begin. I could sit here and write a essay, but lets be honest no one wants to read all of that. The K-9 Center is hands down one of the best board and train on all of Long Island. I came to Amanda because my sister had recommended Amanda’s services and let me tell you i am grateful i had listened. Amanda has been rémy’s trainer since he was four months old. Hes been through puppy training and currently finishing up adult training in a matter of no time thanks to Amanda. Amanda has been amazing with rémy and I, and has devoted so much time/patience with helping myself and rémy progress as a team these last couple of months. Amanda has been training my Belgian Shepard for a few weeks now and really understands what it takes to train a very stubborn headstrong dog. She loves dogs and can handle any breed. I highly recommend Amanda if you want your dog trained correctly.

Louie has been coming here since he was a pup. He’s now a 2 and a half German Shepherd and I have full control over him and I’m not afraid to take him anywhere. The trainers/handlers are amazing at their job and assist with every need that you have with your pup. I couldn’t have picked a better place to train my dog.

We boarded our 11 month old puppy here during a family vacation. When we picked him up 9 days later, he was very thin and we noticed a severe personality change. Our puppy is scared of everyone, he pays attention to our hands to make sure we arent about to strike him. He came back with some scratches as well. I wish we had read some of the reviews before boarding our puppy here because we never wouldve left him at this place had we known we were subjecting our dog to physical and mental abuse. Reconditioning him to be comfortable around us again is going to take us who knows how long. STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE!

John is incredible. Just started my two year old German Shepard in their training program and already see significant changes in her behavior. I would recommend this place to any dog owner. It is worth every penny!

Couldnt find a better trainer on the island or anywhere for that matter. I trained two of my dogs with the K9 center a number of years ago and couldnt be happier with them. Will be bringing our new pup to them soon.

Place is fantastic. A couple yrs ago i was given a fully trained adult Belgian Malinios, He spent most his life as a kennel dog. He had a gr8 disposition, muscles and coat! I fell in love with him as much as i hated to I would frequently board him there he was always returned back to me just as he left me he was happy to visit i believe . 2 yrs ago i was injured seriously at work and no one knew what my outcome would be and was in a coma with my body broken in half. An ex military man ironically came to the center looking to adopt and John seen Tarkus depressed like he had never seen being always a happy chap so John told him what happened and he can hold the dog till and when I gotten better but would have to return him if and when I got better Tarkus was 10 and i didnt want to confuse him so i let him stay with the man. Now i gotten a very healthy and vibrant pup from John and have lifetime lessons. The pup was immaculate when received and still healthy with a gr8 disposition. Hes excelling with the gr8 training by our coach Amanda .She is soo patient and a kind soul and makes huge sacrifices for all animals ect. Ok Im now waiting for our next lesson Friday and cannot wait.

We have a long history with John Browne, 4 of our working dogs Including a GSD, two Belgian malinois, and a fully trained adult dutchie came from his facility. His training methods make it easy to train our dogs and have fun with them too!

PLEASE STOP AND READ THIS! We took our two year old Belgian Malinois to the K-9 Center in Ronkonkoma to continue training on obedience and protection work. This was one of the biggest mistakes we ever made. The owner/trainer, John, insisted that we board our dog at his facility as it would be beneficial for his training. We received a devastating phone call two days later from John that our dog was able to escape his facility and was killed by a moving vehicle. Words cannot describe how horrific our experience was with this place. The amount of negligence that occurred at this facility while our dog was under their care is disgusting. They left our dog outside in freezing temperatures and alone for a long period of time. The owner admitted to us that our dog was under deep distress for two days and he neglected to contact us about the situation. He stated that our dog was biting into concrete while trying to escape the kennel. We specifically requested a phone call if our dog was in any type of abnormal distress or doing anything to damage his teeth. We think biting into concrete to escape a kennel is out of the ordinary and requires a phone call to the owners. SAVE YOURSELF A LOT OF GRIEF AND DO NOT TAKE ANY OF YOUR DOGS HERE. YOUR LOVED ONES DESERVE A LOT BETTER OF CARE THAN THIS FACILITY CAN PROVIDE. THIS PLACE NEEDS TO GET SHUT DOWN BEFORE SOMETHING TRAGIC HAPPENS TO SOMEONE ELSE. PLEASE SHARE THIS INFORMATION.

STAY FAR AWAY!!! This week has been so traumatic for our family. We boarded our 4 year old dog there for 5 days. When we picked him up last Saturday he was very standofish and it got progressively worse. Monday night was so horrific. Our family dog who never showed an ounce of aggression turned to our 15 year daughter as he sat next to her while she pet him turned around and locked down on her forearm! Omg what a terrible night! We treated her at the hospital and as for our dog we were to terrified to let him in the house! The next morning we only put him back and forth from his crate because he was staring at us with a side eye and Not approaching anyone in the family. This was the type of dog that you constantly had to tell him to get down. He was totally changed and fearful of everything. I don’t how long it will take to get our old Dog back or if he will ever be 100%. My husband called there and the lady said oh he was fine no problems, and he said well he bit my daughter on the arm, she said oh he did? and proceeded to say oh you can bring him in for an evaluation. Another way to make a buck! I BEG YOU please do not use this place. I have talked to so many people during the week finding out how bad this place was and I am so filled with guilt I didn’t do more reasearch before leaving our baby in this hell hole!

Had a crazy 130 pound German shepherd named King and no-one would take him because he was a fear bitter and like i said..crazy!! Everyone was afraid of him, we think he was inbread but couldnt put him down. Anyway, called K9 and they glady said they will take him..we said we wont leave on vacation until the next day..we were waiting for the call..we called them, they said he was fine.. Okay..so we went away for a week and called a few times. They had no problems. Not only was our crazy King happy when we picked him up, they managed to give our dog a bath!!!!! WOW!! Impressive!! Weve continued to use K9 for years with the same results with no problems until the sad day we lost him to cancer in the Summer but my next pup will def go to K9 and i have and will continue to recommend them!! Thank you so much!! We love you all!!

John and Amanda have been great. They’ve got my pup behaving well on and off leash. We’ve been going for lessons for about a month and see a drastic difference in her behavior.

I had made an appointment for an assessment and as I pulled up my first instinct was to keep driving but I figured I would give it a chance. As I approached the entrance I was overwhelmed with the smell of god s@*&. I entered the facility and was told to wait outside with my dog, and that it would be 15 minutes? I was on time and I expect the same from a trainer. I walked outside and told my wife we’re leaving. There training may be good however I was not about to stick around and find out.

I just wanted to supplement Kens review with something I witnessed John say.A few days after Kens dog passed away, he called John (the owner of the k-9 center) on the phone to ask why he did not take more precautions to prevent his dog from escaping the crate. I was with him and my sister when he made this call, and my sister and I could hear John on the other end of the line, screaming and calling Kens dog the f word (rhymes with maggot) and the p word (another word for kitty).Read that again.The so-called master trainer John was cursing at Ken over the phone, calling his recently deceased companion derogatory names.Think about the kind of person it takes to curse and name-call a sweet dog whose life was cut short under his care.What my sister and Ken had to go through was horrific, and Ken considered his dog to be his son. Please stay far, far away from John and anyone else who works at the K-9 Center.-Jaclyn

Amanda has been working with my 12 week old pit bull, she’s amazing and patient , Ive learned so much from her , especially when it comes to my part we as owners have to put in just as much work as the dog it makes a huge difference. Thanks for everything look forward to what’s to come

The K-9 center is friendly extremely professional extremely knowledgeable the owner John Brown has trained my dogs for 35 years in both obedience and protection I would never let anyone else train my dogs the people that he has working for him very well trained and very knowledgeable and did wonders with a very hard-headed puppy

Never did we think that we’d be able to have our 1 year old lab completely off leash trained in the short 4 month that he’s been going to the K-9 center. Snoopy came in as a shy boy who was walking us to now being a very well behaved and pretty confident pup thanks to the amazing and hard work done by Amanda. I’d recommend the k-9 center to anyone who has a dog they love.

I did a lot of research before I picked a trainer and after only a few months here I am still happy with my choice. The staff is super friendly and they are accommodating to my crazy schedule. I was able to learned techniques on the first day I could use that worked for Finley and I.

With a newborn on the way and a hyper 6 month old GSD puppy we were very nervous how to handle both, but a friend of ours recommended Amanda & we couldn’t be happier. We did the board and train and we were so shocked on how well she listen’s on and off the leash in such a short amount of time. She has always been easily distracted with other dogs- but following up with the weekly classes she is adapting great! She came home and adjusted so well with us because we had all the training we needed from Amanda. The transition was flawless. Harley has been so gentle with our baby boy and we couldn’t be happier. She is now his big protector and stay in “place” right next to him. The best thing about the k9 center is the lifetime guarantee. We still go for weekly classes to sharpen her skills, which she absolutely loves meeting new puppy friends. I highly recommend the k9 center for any dog training/ boarding needs. Amanda is absolutely the best and very quick to answer any questions you have.

My husband and I are first time Bull Terrier parents. Our Bull Terrier was particularly high strung and extra crazy at home. We knew that with this breed we were going to need to start training him early on and get a control over his temperament or else he was going to rule us! We were recommended to The K-9 Center by my husbands brother and it was the best decision we have made regarding our puppy. When our puppy was 10 weeks old we started coming to Amanda at The K-9 Center to learn some basic obedience training. Amanda truly shows enthusiasm when our puppy is doing well and improving weekly. She is a genuinely kind individual, who loves dogs, and who is very well trained in what she does. John is also a very knowledgeable individual with years of experience in dog training, once you talk to him you will see how much he really knows. I highly recommend this place for any kind of dogs, we have seen Dobermans, Belgian Malinois, Labs, and Bull Dogs- all very well mannered! My husband and I enjoyed class just as much as our Bull Terrier. Our puppy Baci, is now 5 months old and has completed 8 weeks of puppy training classes. He has shown such a difference in obedience. He is so much better at home and listens to all of our commands. He knows Sit, Down, Place, Heel, and is learning to stay in place! Thanks to Amanda we had quite the unruly puppy turn into a well mannered, well socialized pup, overall awesome pup. We thought it was impossible, yet it was done! With that being said, we will happily be continuing with The K-9 Center for adult / lifetime training. So happy that there is a place like this on Long Island!

I don’t want to be dramatic but Amanda is literally the best. We came to her with our puppy Astro and she corrected any issues he was having right away. I genuinely value her teaching because she isn’t just focused on the dog , she’s also focused on you and teaching you the proper techniques to correct your dog on your own. Very patient and understanding , makes all efforts to make you and your dog feel comfortable. I genuinely appreciate all her help, don’t know where we’d be without her. I recommend the lifetime training for all dogs because training is one of the best investments you can make in your dog, it has genuinely made a huge difference in our dog’s life and will save you money in the long run !

Absolutely terrible do not waste your money here they abuse the animals and my dog came back starving I brought him there a little heavier and now his ribs are clear as day he is scared of everything the place is dirty my dog came back with tons of rashes and bites on him.I went for a visit with my dog and they showed me how he was being trained and they were yanking the leash so hard my dog was yelping and he is only four months old just terrible worst experience of my life I immediately brought my dog-home, they all insisted thats how they are trained I could of abused my dog at home for free if thats what I wanted.I would highly not recommend this place they are rude disgusting dirty human beings I dont care about your pet just the money in your pocket im going to write a one star only because they have nothing lower , this place was horrifying and I hope they get shut down

My cane corso Madison is a puppy growing big and fast. Amanda and John do a great job of teaching and training. They are very knowledgeable of all breeds. This is is my 3rd week with the k9 center and I see a great improvement in my dogs behavior. She is much more disciplined and listens to my commands. Madison can walk with me on and off her leash. I will continue to have Madison train here at the k9 center and I recommend that you bring your dog here as well.

This place has a staff that keeps it real and works hard on the animals they care for. I was emotionally leaving my dog there, long drawn out story later, they helped me realize that the dog wasnt being left in a kennel to be alone until someone came back. This place came highly recommended through the rescue I work with and they have strong relationships with the workers, and they did not disappoint in being cautious and stern with the animals to meet their exact needs.

Overall Great Place!!! Came there in March with my 4yr old GSD for obedience training and to correct some aggressive (prey-drive) behavior she has towards smaller dogs. It’s a work in progress but both my girl and myself needed training and every lesson is an improvement. Initially started working with John and he is a great trainer and in a few short weeks has taught me a lot. Started working with Amanda after that and I can’t say enough about the progress we are making. Amanda has helped me and my girl and is great example of the professionalism of this establishment. Everyone that works there has been truly wonderful and you become part of a family of trainers and Trainees! It’s really just been an overall great experience for both me and my girl and I would strongly recommend to anyone lookong for obedience training or correction training or simply just to have the best possible experience with their “fur baby” to go to the K9 center. This will be a lifetime experience for me and my girl as I’m excited every time I go and very happy each time we make progress! Thumbs Up to the trainers and staff at the K9 Center!!!

I cannot recommend Amanda & John at K9 Center highly enough. I’ve had dogs my entire life, but when I got my Airedale Terrier/Poodle mix puppy June 2020 I was having a difficult time training her. She is by far the smartest dog I’ve ever had, and by the time she was around 6 months old I realized I definitely needed some professional help! I am so glad that I found the K9 Center (and I wish I went to them sooner instead of struggling on my own). I signed up for their lifetime training program, which allowed me to do private classes with John until we were ready for our group classes with Amanda. We learned so much during all of our classes, (my favorite thing is the “place” command…which allows me to leave my dog Perdy on her bed anywhere we go & trust that she will not get off of it. This is so helpful whenever we go to other people’s houses, or even at the beach when I can count on her to stay wherever I tell her). The group classes helped Perdy learn how to be neutral around other dogs…before we started those classes she was so noisy every time she saw another dog because she wanted to be able to say hi. She walks so nicely on her leash now, no matter who is around.Overall, I learned so much from John and Amanda and I am very grateful for everything they have taught me. I now have the best behaved dog I’ve ever had which gives me so much peace of mind. Perdy is now the easiest dog to bring anywhere! We took our ACK Canine Good Citizen test a few months ago without any actual “prep” because all of the stuff she learned from the K9 Center helped her pass it easily. If you are considering going anywhere for training your dog, I suggest you choose The K9 Center…you definitely won’t regret it!!

I boarded a HEALTHY rescue dog there (vet records to prove it) ...... and he was found dead in his kennel. No call from the owner. Just the girl that works in the kennel who was very kind and upset. They brought his dead body to me in a wheelbarrow and was told by the owner well he was a sick dog and he was NOT. A Necropsy was done, and my healthy dog died from pneumonia and a staph infection contracted at this facility. When I advised the owner of his cause of death, he repeated again, well he was a sick dog and walked away.I am DEVASTATED.
