Hi, I d Like to share my experience about VCA which was Hauppauge Animal Hospital .My little guy was hit in his lower eye lid by something sharp while landscaper in my community where mowing and weed wacking . He didnt react but when he turned around there was blood coming from his eye.I called several Vets even my own they couldnt take us as well as the ither places I called and they couldnt take him. .My last Resort was to try Hauppauge Animal Hospital , which is now VCA.I would Like to thank the staff that took us in and help my little guy and also Dr Leigh Degeorge, DVM .The girls on your team that day were so kind and caring so helpful and gentle with my little guy.Thank you girls for being so good with OllieThank you again for helping and fixing up my dog Ollie I 🐕🐶😍💞

Extremely disappointed with the service at this animal hospital. The doctor and staff were unfriendly and the prices were outrageous. Its evident that this place prioritizes profit over care. I highly recommend HAH. Ive been going there for years with Jack. The staff and doctors are helpful and sympathetic. They never talked down to me and took the time to explain everything that was going on internally with Jack in a manner I could understand. Unfortunately, after two surgeries in the past two years, Jack finally succumbed to cancer and I had to put him down last weekend. I will never forget all that HAH had done for Jack. Thank you.

This establishment should be ashamed of themselves. I had been going to coram animal clinic for 35 years then it was taken over by VCA. And eventually they closed down the coram center. I should have realized then to move on. I have had over 15 dogs serviced at coram and then Hauppauge. I felt there was something wrong with my dig and made an appointment with Hauppauge animal hospital. Well I was running late and call the hospital while I was on the road to advise them that I was running late. To my surprise I was told to bad you missed your appointment t window and cant be see. I was furious as my dog was sick. It turns out that I had to go to emergency vet where they operated on my dog to remove a toy that he ate. I will never go to Hauppauge animal hospital again.

We have a very sweet, but anxious pittie rescue and the patience that was given to him to ensure his visit went smoothly was amazing. Very disappointed with the lack empathy the veterinarian technicians showed today as a first time client. I arrived 9 minutes late for my appointment. It was my first time to their facility and I unfortunately got lost along the way. Stressfully looping around route 347 several times with my 4 month old nervous, panting Aussie shepherd in the car. He’s not a small dog. I did not phone the facility for fear of losing my navigation while I was enrout . As well as the added distraction with the puppy in the car. When the office called me I was literally entering their parking lot. I immediately took ownership of my tardiness and was very apologetic explaining the recent challenges prior to my arrival. “Ok, we will see you in a few minutes” was what was said to me by Karen. After dragging my reluctant puppy into the building, with my 12yo daughter, another “technician” comes out and curtly informs me they are cancelling my appointment. Why couldn’t they tell me this prior to me entering their building? I was told that appointments are 20 minutes per client (I had no idea ) that I had wasted 10 of them already. She then dictated to me the date and time to return without even asking/offering what my scheduling needs were. I feel services were denied to me because we were the last appointment of the day and the staff wanted to go home.WE as healthcare professionals take an oath to serve our communities with competence and compassion. To exercise some leniency at this time would have been enormously appreciated.

I boarded my dog for 7 days and in that time they noticed problems with his ear they cleaned his ear out never notified me of that and charged a $60.00 visitation fee on top of the boarding fee on top of the cleaning fee. I remember the girls in the back always happy to see my dog and viceversa. That $60.00 visitation fee on top of the boarding fee on top of the cleaning fee ( the cleaning of the ear fee I understand) turned me sour. They should notified you of every step they make . I was paying cash to only find out I didn’t have enough in pocket, TG for credit cards. Bottom line is why was I charged $60.00 when my dog was already boarding with them.

If I could give a lower rating I would! This place is not only dirty and has rude front desk staff but also has unprofessional and incompetent doctors. If you love your animal and you consider them apart of your family, do not trust these people with their health and lives! We had a Maltese, her name was Rosie and she was 15 years old. No one would believe she was 15 by the way shed run around and play. However, due to the incompetence of this animal hospital, Rosies life was cut short. She could have been saved if we had brought her somewhere else- somewhere where the staff cared more about the animal then closing time.On November 1st, after seeing her struggle to get up, my sister and I took her to Hauppauge Animal Hospital. We called and made an appointment for 6:15pm. When we arrived, with our little sick dog wrapped up in a blanket, we were told that they didnt have us in the system and that they were closing soon. There was absolutely zero compassion or concern from the front desk. After an unnecessary and aggressive exchange with the staff member, we were put on the schedule at 6:30pm. Unfortunately, the lack of compassion didnt just stop at the front desk. Once in the room the doctor began to examine Rosie. Within a minutes of her examination we were told that she had a heart murmur (which Rosie has never had heart problems in the past), that there was a giant mass on her spleen that was most likely cancerous because it was hard and that the only treatment was surgery in which she might not survive. She than recommended an X-ray to confirm the mass which we of course agreed to. While Rosie was getting the X-ray my sister and I, completely devastated by the news, could hear the doctor talking so casually about these cancerous tumor in our dog. Once the mass was visualized on the X-ray I asked the doctor if we could get her blood work to confirm it was in fact cancer, which she repeatedly said it was. I wish I had a tape recorder for when she told me that blood work wouldnt show if it was cancer unless the cancer was in her blood but she’d do it anyway. In my opinion this womans license should be revoked for that comment alone. After drawing her blood and charging us nearly $400.00 we were dismissed-sent home distraught and without help. The very next day we had to rush Rosie to North Shore Animal Hospital (a recommendation from a friend) where they did everything they could possibly do to save our dog. It turns out that nothing the doctor from Hauppauge Animal Hospital said about Rosies prognosis was accurate. The so called heart murmur was ammonia (fluid in the lungs) which is treatable and the massive cancerous tumor on her spleen was really a large and yet drainable cyst in her bladder. These people robbed Rosie of the care she needed that night. They prey on those whod do anything for their pets for the greed of money. Do NOT go to Hauppauge Animal Hospital!

Disclaimer: I would give no stars if it was possible. Dr DeGeorge was very rude to my family. We were told one price by the front desk when we made the appointment and she rudely told us that it was going to be way more expensive since it is PER PET. When we asked how much it would be next time she said “oh it’s going to be way more expensive” We then asked about getting our dog spayed as soon as she is able to and she once again rudely said “I am the only one doing surgeries right now so it’s going to be a while” Don’t be rude… it really pushes people to go to other veterinarians.

Brought my dog in for an ear infection as my regular vet was closed on a Sunday and his symptoms became apparent over Saturday night. I told the staff the records would be sent the next day from his usual vet the next day because I wanted to potentially switch to them. Apparently this was not understood as they repeatedly discussed his lack of medical history. I guess they do not understand how vet information must be exchanged and it is virtually impossible when one is closed (common sense?) Unfortunately I can confidently say I will not be changing to them as they made me feel extremely uncomfortable. I have never left a vet who made me feel as though I neglect my dog. Definitely would not recommend.

We have been bringing our dog to Hauppauge Animal hospital for 8 years. Recently bought him in and was examined by Dr. DeJorge. The diagnosis was not clear and she recommended blood work to confirm one diagnosis over the other.. We were told that we would get a call the following day with the results. Really to our surprise, that call never came. We called last night to speak with the doctor but told that she had left early for a conference. Due to the current condition of our dog, we asked if another get could review the blood work and call us back. No phone call. How sad that an animal hospital that weve trusted couldnt show compassion in our families time of need. They should treat each animal as their own and understand what were feeling as we wait for the news.

The vets and staff at Hauppauge Animal Hospital are very compassionate and professional. The doctors take the time to educate me on the care of my pet - from vaccines to nutrition. I have been to other animal hospitals where everything felt very rushed - but at Hauppauge, the entire staff treat my cats and dog like they are a priority. They have also exceeded expectations by calling me to see how my cat is doing before I even got a chance to call them with an update! When people ask me where they should bring their pets, I always recommend Hauppauge Animal Hospital.

Absolutley terrible vet!!! Do not go here. Brought my cat Perriwinkle here to be checked by Dr.perolo when he wasn’t peeing well and had urine crystals. She started to recommend surgery and ultrasounds when all he needed was a urine sample and urinary prescription food to see if it would get better. She wanted to milk me 500$ instead of checking the other routes first. She gave him an antibiotic before we even had the test done for what she said was a UTI. unbelievable. These vets have no compassion for the animal and all they want is your money. They don’t care if what they are diagnosing is correct. Every time I asked this woman if she thought that the wet food would help him with the crystals she told me she had no idea. Even though as a vet who’s in the business since 2003 you should have a pretty good idea. Never ever coming here again. Disgusting.

We told the vet tech Stephen, that one of the doctors prescribed the wrong Heartguard for our dog and that we were now out of $50 dollars. I guess he thought that us losing money was funny because he started laughing. *Not the first time that we have had trouble with Stephen. He tends to think hes right and were wrong most of the time. We than had to wait for Dr. DiGeorge for over 30 minutes even while there was no one in the office. She than told us that it was our fault that we were prescribed the wrong medication. *Not the first time weve had issues with the vet either. Plus they overcharge you. I mean 40 dollars to have a lump looked at. Ridiculous.

I’m 21 years old and I decided to try taking care of him because my family couldn’t afford his recent medical issues that came up. Dr DeGeorge was cold, unclear in delivering information, and had no compassion. I’m not going to go into detail with the whole situation but that pretty much sums it up. I will be making sure that my family does not got back to this vet again for our other animals.** If you do decide to go to this vet, Dr. Pirolo was very kind and caring. I’d reccomend her.**

Weve been using Dr. Pete for over 10 years. We mostly use his mobile vet service, and only go into the hospital when it is necessary. Dr. Pete has been warm caring and up to date on the latest vet medicine. When my female husky was 4 we discovered a growth on her ear. It turned out to be nerve sheath cancer. He was able to remove part of her ear and reshaped it to look like the other. On another occasion, when our male husky passed suddenly after hours, he came to our home and took our Nanuk so my small children did not have to see him. He always goes above and beyond. I would highly recommend using the mobile veterinary services

PLEASE READ!I highly recommend taking your pets to another vet. I have two chihuahuas. When the older one was about six months old,I brought the dog to HAH for an examination. The vet(Dr. Pete) informed me that he had legg perthes disease and the condition needed to be corrected via surgery. A couple of days later due to the vets admitted mistake, my dog had to go thru a second surgery which left his leg partially paralyzed.Years later we brought the dog back for dental surgery. Some teeth were removed, others cleaned. After a few days I noticed the dogs neck was out of alignment. I decided to give it some time to see if the situation would correct itself. Weeks went by and there was no change in his condition.Recently we made plans to take a trip; part of those plans were to have the dogs boarded at HAH. Requirement for boarding at their facility: a complete examination and up-to-date shots for the animals. While we were waiting in the examination room , a tech came in and informed us that since the hospital had been taken over by a BIG CORPORATION, new requirements have been implemented: the dogs must have additional shots (higher prices of course!) in order to allow us to border them. That being said, we decided to have some of the shots done on that day, and the remainder prior to boarding($263.00).The vet eventually appeared and proceeded to examine each dog. When she began examination of the older one, I asked her why his neck was crooked. Her answer,” possibly from the anesthesia, which could be a permanent condition.” At that point I felt “enough is enough!”We have decided to have a family member care for our pets when we go on our trip. We have also found another vet who is not so impersonal as this NEW CORPORATION.THANKS FOR NOTHING!

Do not go here! They have misdiagnosed my dog on several occasions, and it almost cost her life. I. One occasion I brought my dog in because I suspected bloat. I was told she probably just ate something she should not have. Sure enough it was bloat and then I still had to bring her somewhere else to have an operation. She is now approaching 13 and has some skin tags and moles. They wanted to biopsy one, and insisted on general anesthesia. I did not want to put her under, being that she is a senior at this point. That is when they refused to see her anymore. Do your pet, and yourself a favor and stay away. On another note, my pup is now under the care of a local vet in ronkonkoma. Her incontinance issue has gone away within 2 months, and no longer has accidents. Something we worked with hauppauge animal hospital with for over 5 years. Strongly suggest you stay away! My 2 pets were regular patients there. My 21 year old cat kitty was treated there and I was told she had kidney failure and would need subcutaneous fluids every day for the rest of her life. I began a daily regimen of fluids for her for the next 2 yrs. Every two weeks I would go there and purchase the fluids and accessories for $32. This was very expensive but it was keeping her alive. One day I came in to purchase the fluids and the receptionist/tech noticed that kitty had not been examined for over a year. I was told I could not receive any more fluids until she was examined and had blood work done. This was a shock to me as I did not have the funds to pay for more than the fluids at that time. I asked if I could just get 1 bag to last her for a week until I received my paycheck since I was worried she would die if I waited without them. I was refused and was told to find another vet that would give her fluids. I scrambled to find another vet which I eventually did. I feel that this was nothing more than an attempt to squeeze me for more money. I guess $64 a month was not enough. They showed absolutely no compassion for my cat and I will never go there again.

It is very disturbing to see a response from HAM to a review on this page how important the welfare of animals and especially their patients is to them. I have to tell anyone who will listen that in the past six months, HAM has literally turned away 4 animals for care because either dr. conover or dr. degeorge were leaving in a half hour. All these animals were very sick, one close to death. She was taken to TOWNE LINE VET, in Hauppauge. Their doors were closed but the drs hadn;t left yet and they took Lucy in and saved her life. THAT IS WHAT A DOCTOR DOES. NOT turn the poor animals away because theyre watching a clock. I must say that my family had been using HAM for over 50 years, since Dr. Cohen had a small office directly on rte 111. This evening, my dog was in obvious discomfort. I called the office at 730pm and was told dr conover was leaving at 8 promptly and that i should go to commack emergency vet. AGAIN! I asked to speak to the dr, at which time the receptionist was rude and sarcastic, put me on hold, came back on twice to tell me that dr conover was still in a meeting. I said that I would hold to talk to him, again, she was very sarcastic and short, put me back on hold and after all that, they left the office, while leaving me on hold. Funny? I think not. I will be getting my dogs records tomorrow and heading straight to TOWNE LINE VET.

In memory of my sweet dog Macy, I must share my experience here.Macy (a 6 year old rat terrier)went in for a mild nose infection and was prescribed Doxycycline. She was also given a blood test.Within a few days Macy wasnt looking good and I called the office to find out if it was safe to continue her medication. They told me it was an antibiotic and that I was supposed to continue the medication to the end. I also inquired about her bloodwork which I was put on hold for and disconnected. The next two days Macy was lethargic and threw up. The following morning I rushed her back in with liver failure. They told me she was poisoned (either by candy, rat poison, mushrooms, hatefulneighbors etc) and that her prognosis was bad and they could not guarantee they could save her but offered to open me a line of credit to try or euthanize her to stop her suffering. I opted to let her go ...to avoid her suffering further.I struggled sleepless nights searching for answers to her death. I then found online many other dog owners whos dogs became violently ill and also death while on the medication Doxycycoline. THEY NEVER mentioned possible side effects to me regarding this medication and led me to believe it was helping her. They also had blood test results which were not normal, yet never reached me about them. I am not feeling like this was intentional per say, but when I called to indicate the dog was not doing well they should have instructed me to discontinue the usage and bring her in immediately which could have saved her life, as well as contact me regarding her bloodwork which I also feel could have indicated this antibiotic was not safe for her.Macy is gone and I will not get this sweet pup back. I will never trust a veterinarian ever again nor dose my animals with medication without thoroughly investigating the possible side effects associated . They have lost my trust and I will never return to this “hospital” again. BEWARE.
