Was looking for a dog beach in NY and this place came up. My pup loved it! Came during memorial day. All other pups and their hoomans were nice. Will be back! As many other reviews have stated: go during low tide or youll probably think the beach is 30 feet by 10 feet like some other reviews on here have written 🤭. And yes parking might be a little annoying but its worth the added steps if you already came out wanting your pup to have a good time!

Beautiful quiet neighborhood. The beach is small and the sand is rocky. People and dogs are friendly. No eating no drinking and parking is very limited.

My little one enjoyed the water eventhough she was the smallest one there, it is not that big but it is nice to know that there is a place I could take my little one in those hot days. The views are beautiful.

A little less than ideal. There is no parking there so you have to find some other street parking and almost all of it is designated no parking. When you do find a legal parking spot you still get a ticket (this happened to me). Also, you cant close the gate so its not that secure for the dogs. Very small beach but thats ok. Opal swam on her own for the first time during high tide.

The year-round dog beach is an absolute paradise for canine companions! With its open access for dogs to run and swim from 8 am to 12 noon, its a haven of joy for both pets and their owners. Ive found that going early ensures snagging a parking spot, allowing us to make the most of our beach adventure. Its a fantastic way to let your furry friend enjoy the sand, surf, and sun, making unforgettable memories together.

Such a beautiful park. It is a bit hilly, but it has incredible views of the Long Island Sound. The dog and I love coming down here and taking a leisurely walk. You can usually encounter at least two other dogs on any given occasion. 😁 Check the tides before you go because you lose half access to the beach at high tide!

This is a cute little small beach for dogs.. although the times say 9a-12p my fiancé and I met some other dogs who swam in the water. It’s a nice refresher for the dogs. Would be nice to have a little area for dogs to run around. Overall a calm park and friendly people. People definitely were keeping their distance and mask on.

The beach is not as clean as a regular human beaches. There are a lot of pebbles and broken shells BUT it was awesome. Other dog owners do an amazing job cleaning up after their pets. Also, there’s only one way in and out so it’s easier for the dogs to roam. Everyone there was so nice and they made sure their dogs were kind to everyone human and dogs alike. Even when my dog didn’t want to socialize everyone still made us feel comfortable and safe. I would highly suggest this dog beach. I wish there were more.

We were told by police the day we were there that they did not allow dogs. They complained the dog beach title was misleading. So which is it a place for dogs or not?

Great spot to take your dog the first time. It’s not a large beach where your dog will be able to do long runs, especially towards the end of the day. You’ll find parking a few blocks away. Always respect the local residents home and space.

Location has great views, dogs, and dog owners. Downside is that dogs must be on leash and cops come by often to check you on that. Not great for doggy socializing.

Great place to visit with the dogs. I have a pit lab mix and she had a blast. Its not a huge section of the beach but the dogs dont care! Although it says dogs must be leashed it is not enforced so please keep that in mind for dogs with possible aggression or anxiety problems. Dogs can and will come up to your dog and fast. 4 stars because it doesnt have very open hours and for those with trouble walking, parking isnt close by. The beach is also very rocky and filled with shells so again it can be hard to walk on.

Super, super tiny beach -- maybe 20 or 30 feet long and about 10 feet wide. Giving it 1 star because, I assume, anyone who does not live in that neighborhood has to make a trek to visit the beach and it is not worth more than a 10 minute drive. There is only street parking -- closest spot we found d was about 3 blocks away. Also, it closes at 12:30pm. That said, there were 3 or 4 little dogs there that seemed to be having a good time!

It was shocking to go with my dog and have a rather uncomfortable experience, to keep it short of words... the locals dont seem to like outsiders coming to enjoy the beach with their dogs. Other then that beach was delightful.

Still a great place for dogs to beat the heat and enjoy a swim. Its been closing at noon this year, for the large volume of new visitors and distancing. The tide has come in earlier than usual, so check the tide prior, as the shore/beach space is considerably less to walk and enjoy their beach day.

Wonderful little spot a short ways off from a beautiful scenic park where we walked after we had our fill of sand and splashing around! We were lucky enough to arrive at low tide which we were told greatly expands the space in which the dogs can run and play on the beach. Easy to get to by public transit as well. Will definitely return.

This beach is only 40 mins driving from the city. The park is located in a beautiful residential area with a very New England all American vibe. The beach is hidden, so its perfect for the dogs to get loose and wild! My dog loves it! Not the best beach for humans, but its totally worth it for the doggies.

Larchmont dog beach is a great place to bring your dog! Its a local gem. My dog gets relief from the hot weather when he comes here. Also it a different experience for him from the fenced in dog park with grass and trees. I taught my dog to swim here. Now you cant get him out of the water. =)

Love this place! Great for dogs! A lot of friendly and welcoming dog lovers and dogs. Good for the pups to socialize and pet parents to make friends. Would be even better if humans without dogs stopped crowding this beach with they kayaks, boogeyboards, paddle boards, canoes, and just spent the cash on the country clubs next door and up and down the shore. If you cant afford your watersports hobby, dont infringe on the rights of others. Ya know? I dont come to your hood to throw a block party. A lot of those huge kayaks and canoes (Especially when you bring your family 🤦‍♂️) scare the dogs and/or they may see it as a toy and chew or pee on it. 🤣 Its a dog beach. You have plenty of human beaches. 🐾

Such a lovely park with amazing views, but horrible Rangers and security. The first time he came around and told me that I couldnt drink my water and eat my lunch. I put everything away. Then came around again and said there was a complaint that the dogs (about five of them) were off leash and in the water. When I asked what was the point of a dog beach if the dogs cant swim and have to be leashed he pointed to the sign that says no swimming. So disappointing since I drove some distance to enjoy the day...

I went there for the first time on on Saturday (June 25, 2016). We live in the city and after reading some good reviews of this dog beach, we decided to rent a car and drive up to let our dog play on a beach/in the water. We were only there about 20 minutes when a cop came onto the beach and kicked everyone out with a warning of a $175 ticket for anyone with a dog off-leash. She was nice about it--kind of embarrassed to have to kick us out--and said she is just following her orders and new mayor, new rules. Some of the others at the beach were very upset as they are local to the area and had been coming to this beach with their dog for many years and are being told they can no longer do that.I came on here to write this review as a heads up to anyone considering making a trip up to this beach, and I now see it is listed as permanently closed. I guess I was there on what turns out to be its last day. Shame to see this go.

Very small area of the beach is separated for dogs. Really surprised that all other dogs were off-leash inspite of the rules saying dogs need to be on leash at all times. Not worth a drive if you don’t live in the area. Street parking situation is pretty bad as well.

We got a glimpse of the dog beach but sadly, it was closed. We asked one of the local residents and they stated that its been closed for a little while because the dog beach lost sand and theyre trying to add more. Dont know when itll reopen. Review №70

Fun for your pup to take a quick dip and make new friends. The area is relatively small depending on the tide. Little to no garbage in the water. The only down fall is that because the community is adamant about maintaining a peaceful and secluded environment, loud barking and too much commotion causes the neighbors to come and monitor the play and may even get someone to implement that all dogs remain on leash. But over all it is a wonderful area, & almost always a friendly crowd.
