Sherrillbrook Members-only Dog Run

The most unfriendly dog park I’ve ever visited. My dog is under 20 lbs., but three different times people with dogs over 50 lbs. were in the “small” dog section and warned me not to bring my dog in because their dogs would “go after” him. On other occasions I visited and the other dog owners wouldn’t even respond to me saying hello. Not worth the $35 yearly fee to gain entrance.

Me & my dog lover coming here . Every one is so friendly and respectful , and its kept very clean . Also 2 geocaches on the trail , if youre interested in that sort of thing !

It’s a decent park but as much as they stressed that the small dogs have to stay in their own section designated for them. Larger dog owners don’t seem to abide by that rule and bring their dogs into the small dogs section and don’t pick up after them.

Well I dont walk a dog. I do see a few people who do, but not that many. I do however see people walk their dogs on the roads and trails and are nice enough to leave there dogs mess on the trails and roads. Thank you for that! Not sure the dog walk is that well used compared to what the space might be able to be used for. Lots going on in the Park. I hope its what the people of New Hartford want. I am sure all the other people who use the park are fine with it. The Park Commission was disbanded, so who know who is making the decisions.

Cant BELIEVE the people at this dog park did not let us play because we werent members!! We have been on the road for three days, and played at a number of dog parks. My puppy badly wanted some dog company, but this is the first one we actually werent allowed in!!I would have gladly paid a day fee, or anything, but the people there wouldnt hear of it!Meanest bunch I have encountered, ever. Cant believe I used to defend upstate New Yorkers against everyone who insisted how mean they were!

The dog park is for member only, which require responsible dog owner to show proof of rabies shot and to register the dog with the town. This make the dog park safe and relax for every user. Yearly fee of $35 (resident) or $70 (non-resident) for single dog (as of 2017.)A large crowd usually meet at noon and 4 pm, all year around. There are three large pen area, well mowed most of the time, There are water hose, hand sanitizes, bags, tables and chairs. At one point, there were also patio umbrella, however they were stolen/removed. Which brings me to Evas comment.(Not part of review; potential back story to someones review)At the time of Evas review, the dog run were going thru some potential theft problem, patio umbrella being removed, the lock were easily bypassed without keys. There are known numbers of non-member utilizing the dog run which motivated the protective defense against unknown non-member. Nothing really personal or a reflection on the bunch.

Dog parks shouldn’t be members only, it should be free to the community. Instead of isolating the community by membership, maybe try bring it together. Food for thought.

Kind of lame that the dog park is members only when everything else is open to the public, but there are some fun trails for the puppers in the woods!

This members only dog park is a fine place to bring your dog, large or small. They have poop bags and a water hose, a few shady spots, picnic tables and three separate runs, granted two of them can get rather muddy, theyre usually fine. Plenty of space to run, toss, play etc. There is a mix of dogs there and several owners are regulars. Unfortunately its really the only place in the area to bring your dog, so take it or leave it.

This is listed as a free dog park on Google. It is not. I was informed by a member that if I had read the online application I would have known that. Whatever Karen!

Our dog loved it despite the extremely muddy areas.

Dog park seems nice although the areas for each size dog seem a little small and would be nice if there was an area for all dogs (so different size dogs could play, my dog really likes big dogs but shes tiny.) The members only thing I guess is nice but my dog, that has all of its shots, wasnt allowed in because we arent members. A little frustrating when looking for a Ive place to take her while were in town.
